Wedding makeup 11.15.2024

I booked my hair and makeup services for my November wedding with Simple Beauty. Myra was very sweet and helpful during the whole process.

On the day of my wedding we had a wonderful team of artists. I was under the impression Myra would be there to do my makeup however something must have came up and she was unable to. The makeup artist she sent in her place did an amazing job on everyone and I loved my look despite the change in plan. Only thing is I wish it was communicated to me before hand the change in plan.

I would still recommend her services! I felt so absolutely beautiful and my hair and makeup lasted all night!

If I could give more starts I would!

Look no further - Mayra and her team are the freaking PROS! Their experience and talent are evident in their work. My bridesmaids and I looked amazing, and Mayra did a great job keeping us on our timeline, but she also noticed small things to help the other vendors. For example, she told us to start cleaning the suite before the photographer showed up so that getting-ready pics could get started ASAP. She also made sure I didn't slouch, which would have absolutely devastated me if my poor posture had been captured on my big day. I can't imagine any other vendor who cares like that. She's the GOAT. If you're waiting for a sign to hire her, consider this it!

Mayra made our wedding even more special, fresh and fun. We loved her!

Our wedding goals were drama-free and stress-free. Working with Mayra at Simple Beauty Artistry was a joy because she listened to what I wanted and presented options. She gave us peace of mind due to both her demeanor and experience and helped that *both* the hair and makeup for the wedding party were beautiful and consistent at the wedding, and reception!

My bride had initially looked at another hair and makeup provider, but they weren't as experienced. Not only did 2 people take twice as long as Mayra did during the initial test, but the way they applied her lashes really irritated her eyes and she said she didn't want them. Mayra convinced her that the other folks didn't apply them properly and did it herself. She was right, they didn't irritate her eyes and really made them pop in our pictures.

Mayra and Rocky really made the wedding day fun! She was easy to work with and despite having a few picky people in the wedding party, and they made everyone look and feel beautiful. Mayra also stayed late and did a great job of refreshing my bride's look for the reception after the wedding. Overall, Mayra made our wedding even more special, fresh and fun. We loved her!

Mayra is HIGHLY recommended if you want to look beautiful, enjoy your wedding and have peace of mind!

Talented team! Flawless outcome!

Mayra and her team worked my Wedding Day and did 9 Bridesmaids, 1 Mom, and 1 Brides’ hair AND make up within 3-4 hours without compromising quality, it was incredible!!! Because I wanted everyone to have the same hair and make-up, they did an incredible job being cohesive while accentuating each of the girls’ true beauty. Mayra herself was my artist, and she was so precise and particular and and made sure that I was comfortable and happy with everything they did and asked my opinion before she finished up. She was very attentive and listened to all my wants, and also made suggestions to what works and looks best. Mayra made sure I was happy every step of the way, and that everything was as how I wanted and imagined it! Everyone looked insanely gorgeous that day! I also added a hair and trial run, which helped soooo much because I am a very indecisive person (so if that’s you, consider getting one).

She is an incredible owner, and she is always learning and keeps up with all the trends and new products. She has tons of experience and knowledge with any hair type and skin type.
She has the best quality products everrrr, and not to mention everything was super clean! We all did airbrushed makeup and lashes and our face did not budge after all the crying and sweating, it made it all the way after the After-Party!

Stunning Styles

Mayra was amazing!!! Simple Beauty did hair and make up for the bride, bridesmaids, house party, and mothers of the bride and groom. Everyone looked absolutely gorgeous, and the styles lasted the entire evening (impressive, our dance floor was busy!). I would absolutely recommend Mayra and her team to any of my friends and family.

Extremely pleased

My experience with Mayra was AMAZING. I had hair and makeup done with her in the morning before my wedding and she made me feel like a princess! I struggle with acne and had a few large pimples and fresh red scars, she covered all the problem areas, while maintaining a fresh light natural look. I do not wear makeup and I was worried about how I would look and if it would last all day, and I was extremely impressed that it looked amazing all day. All my family members and friends were blown away when they saw me and complimented me all day long. Thank you Mayra. you are amazing.

Absolutely Amazing

Mayra did my makeup for my engagement pictures and hair/makeup for me, six bridesmaids and two moms. She was absolutely amazing and she is so talented. I am super picky about makeup and she listened to every little thing I wanted and I never stressed about how I was going to look.

Don't look any further!

Mayra at Simple Beauty Artistry has done my makeup and hair for years. I couldn't imagine hiring anyone else because her talent is second to none. She did my henna ceremony & wedding make-up and hair as well as a few photo shoots. I highly recommend every bride to do a trial with her to get a feel for her expertise. Best hair and make up i have ever had!

My wedding was in June 2019, in the scorching Texas heat.
Mayra did my hair and make up, as i expressed my concerns with my hair falling and my make up running down my face, its hot and I have no shame that I glisten, she assured me that all would be ok,

After 7 hours of photos, wedding fun and drinks, my hair was still perfectly in tack and curled down my shoulder and my make up looked just as it did hours before! I was highly impressed and please with the service. not to mention she was the sweetest to work with! Very professional and nice. This was my wedding day and all i wanted was to look good all day and she made it happen!

10/10 would recommend to all my brides out there and anyone else looking to have their hair and make up done for a photo shoot! this place is amazing!

Best day ever!

Could not have asked for a more professional hair and makeup service. Loved my hair and makeup the day of my wedding! I got married outdoors in the summer and even with the heat and dancing at the reception, everything stayed in place and my makeup looked just as good as it did when it was first applied! You can't go wrong with Simple Beauty Artistry!

Mayra is an extremely talented MUA! She did my hair and make-up for my engagement shoot and I was beyond pleased with the end result. I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair and she delivered. For the make-up I also showed her a picture and mentioned I wanted to look natural (on camera). She also delivered! Mayra is the absolute best! Professional and talented.
I loved the look of my makeup and hair. I did a trial makeup a month before the wedding to see how long it lasted and it was still perfect from 1 pm when she started til I woke up the next day when I still had my pretty lashes on (lol). I showed Mayra the idea for the hair, and on the day of the Wedding she made my hair even better than I had imagine. You can tell the great job even on cellphone untouched photos, how great she makes your skin and eyes look. I am so grateful that she worked with me and help me look the best on my wedding day.

I loved working with Mayra! The thought of finding a hair and makeup artist was overwhelming until I found her through my coordinator. She was great to work with, always able to answer questions I had, and flexible to my schedule and location. Above all, she did a GORGEOUS job!! She did my hair and makeup for both my bridal portraits and wedding, and was able to accommodate my 6 bridesmaids hair & makeup, as well. I didn't have a big wedding party to take care of, but I had a lot of moving pieces and constant changes (type of services, number of services, timing, locations, etc.), Mayra handled it all like a pro and she calmed me down in the process! I hired Mayra for hair and makeup on my wedding day, and she was phenomenal! She was quick to respond to all my questions and concerns before the big day, and was right on time the day of. I opted out of a trial because I don't live in Houston, but had my wedding there, so I texted her pictures,a week before, of how I wanted everything done, and it turned out even better than I imagined. Mayra was amazing! From the trial to the wedding day. Her and her team are so talented. They showed up to the venue on time and finished everybody on time. If any of my bridesmaids or myself need a touch up, they did it without any hesitation. In fact, my bridesmaids had to go to the hotel to pick up some stuff so Mayra's team waited until they got back to do final touch ups. My bridesmaids, my mom and I felt so beautiful during my special day. I would definitely recommend her!

Mayra is so amazing at what she does and I am so thankful that I got to work with her for my bridals and on my wedding day! If you want a true artist for your special day I highly recommend using Mayra. I hired Mayra for hair and makeup for my daughter's quince. She worked on my party of 4 and we were all more than satisfied. She is very easy to talk to. She listened closely to what we wanted and more than excelled at our expectations. Needless to say I would recommend her in a heartbeat. She is very accommodating and super friendly. You get it all with her!!!

Mayra is the best of the best! She is definitely the one to go to because she works her magic. I used her for so many occasions that she is like family. My girls know her and get excited when she comes to my house and does my make up and hair. As I am and my girls are comfortable with Mayra. She is knows what hairstyles and make up are in style. Mayra did a wonderful job with my makeup and hair! It was more beautifully done than the styles I sent her! She also did each of the bridesmaids hair according to their preferences. Most of all she did all of us so quickly and was patient in waiting for each girl to arrive. She was also very accomodating---I had to ask her to start getting us ready at the hotel and then later move to the venue since it wasn't open quite early enough to get us all ready in time. She had us all finished in plenty of time to get dressed and be ready for pictures! She may be a little pricy but totally worth it! Definitely go with a professional because I found others to be flaky and hesitant to commit their time.

Mayra was awesome from start to finish of this process. I was a late booking but she was great at answering all my questions and making sure I looked how I wanted too on my big day. I had two trials to even make sure ;). The day of she was prompt, awesome, and fun to work with. Her personality can surely make you feel calm and in good hands. I would of never looked so good if it was not for her!!! Everyone thought I was beautiful and some didn't even recognize me (I don't wear makeup alot). My husband even cried!!!!! Thank you so much, you were awesome!!!!!!!! Tell your daughter you did make me pretty and I felt like a princess ;)

I met Mayra through my wedding planner Rina and she was great. When I first met her she made me feel comfortable and took the time to explain the difference of traditional makeup and airbrush makeup. We went over hairstyles that would be flattering for my day. The experience with her was just amazing from beginning to the end. On the wedding day, she arrived extra early to make sure I was calm and made me feel so relaxed, My bridal party and I truly enjoyed process of being pampered. We all looked stunning!

Mayra did a fantastic job on my wedding day hair and makeup. She also provided hair and makeup for my sister and mother. She was prompt and friendly, and even managed to create beautiful makeup right after injuring her finger minutes before arriving at my house. I have only glimpsed sample pictures from my photographer, but from what I have seen, her makeup and hair photographed exceptionally well. Excellent job! I highly recommend her for any event where you want to look your best.

Mayra was simply amazing! She handled the hair and make-up for my wedding & everyone looked beautiful! I received so any compliments at my wedding regarding my hair and make-up and how flawless I looked. Since my dress was a strapless dress Mayra went out of her way to make sure that I looked wonderful from my chest up! I would also like to add that I had a photographer back out on me 2 weeks before my wedding and Mayra stepped right up to the plate and located me a photographer within means, he was wonderful as well. I would highly recommend anyone needing their hair and/or make-up done for special occasions or pictures contact Mayra you will not regret it!! :-)

Thank you for hair and makeup you did on me, the grandmother, for my granddaughter's Fifteen Birthday Party. I luv Mayra. I had a hundred different ideas and she was honest with me and told me what worked with my eye color, shape and face. I received so many complements that night. Also, I had the heavy duty spray makeup and let me tell you it was worth it every penny. I had to go outside in June weather in downtown Houston to take pictures and the makeup and hair held up all night without a problem. If you are wondering if you should get the lashes let me tell you the answer is YES…. Trust me. I have already booked her for my sister birthday party in December and I am trying to find other events to book her for. She makes you feel so glamorous.

I hired Myra for my daughter fifteenth birthday. Myra was fantastic. I first meet Myra for to do her hair and makeup for the portraits. She was punctual and so easy to work with. I explained to her what my vision was and she executed perfectly. I loved how she was straight forward with me. She told me what worked and what wouldn't work and gave a solution. On the day of the event she did my hair and make up and she provided me the same service. She told me what would work with my hair and makeup. I loved it. I received nothing but compliments the entire night. I hate taking pictures because I never like my make up. That night you couldn't get me out of the photo booth. Since I got engaged until the day of my wedding (for over 9 months) I relied on Mayra. She does an amazing job with hair and make up, she did my engagement photo shoot make up and hair, my bridal shower and my wedding day 12-27-2013. Not only did she service me,but also my two sisters, my mom, and my aunt and they were more than satisfied. I highly recommend her. She's punctual, reliable and professional, and always has great advice on what goes best with skin tone and facial features. I found Simple Beauty Artistry through a web search in March. From that time until my June wedding I was in constant contact with Mayra. She was absolutely amazing! She was always available by phone or through email. I chose her as my hair and makeup artist because of her affordable pricing. On the day of the wedding she was right on time even though it was horrible weather with rain and hail. I had given her pictures of what I wanted for hair and makeup and she nailed it! When she was finished she stayed until time for my entrance. She touched up my makeup when I cried and she even fluffed my train before I walked out. I absolutely loved her and her work!! I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone. She really is that good!

I love Mrs.Mayra and the way she did my makeup and hair! I used her for my engagement pictures and my wedding day, she also did cover up on my husbands tattoo! She truly is such a sweet and nice person she is patient and helped me out so much the day before and the day of the wedding, she gave me lots of helpful tips for my skin she even called the photographer to let him know what time we would be starting makeup and hair (since he is a friend of hers),which helped out tremendously. She was right on time and even waited for me to get to the venue since I was running late. She works fantastic under pressure making you feel comfortable and at ease. I picked Mayra doll me up for my cousin's wedding and she made me look amazing. I allowed her to do whatever she wanted for me including my hair and she definitely has talent. I booked her for my bridal shoot session and on my wedding day. My photographer was able to capture some of her work and I can tell you its AMAZING! Mayra does fabulous makeup. I had done a few trail makeups with other makeup artist since I have really bad rosacea. The other artist would end up making my face look cake-y. My cousin's wedding was 6/30/12 at the Doubletree by IAH airport and Mayra was our make-up artist. It was kind of last minute when we contacted Mayra but she was super flexible and extremely patient with us. As a black woman it’s hard to find make-up that accommodates my skin tone and features. Mayra had all the ladies myself included looking like we belonged on a runway.

I can’t stress enough on the great job she did, she was amazing. Her prices were very reasonable. She was punctual, professional and her time management on each person was impeccable.

Mayra did such an amazing job in making me feel beautiful on my wedding day! She did my makeup for my bridal portraits and the photographer said that was the best makeup she has ever seen. On my wedding day my makeup was even better and I didn't think that was possible. Mayra is professional , classy and knows what she is doing!!

Mayra was extremely nice and helpful in the time leading up to my wedding and most importantly on the big day! My face and hair looked really good! I would definitely recommend airbrush makeup for anyone who isn't used to wearing a lot of makeup all day.

So it was expensive, which is expected because its a wedding, but not all of my bridesmaids felt like it was worth it.

Overall i thought it was worth it! I'm glad she was able to travel to our location and work with my schedule. I would definitely recommend her to future brides! :)

Stressful and troubling

This was a very troubling and stressful experience to work with them. I had booked their services a year in advance with a definite count of 3 with an understanding of more ladies to be added. When I tried to add my additional ladies 6 months later, their prices had increased and they charged me for the new price despite me signing a contract prior to the price being raised. They even tried to charge me an increased price for the original 3 people on the original contract. There was a lot of back and forth and I had to ask my parents' support to help handle because they're contract attorneys. The owner arranged a call with my parents and took it while driving without having the contract opened and it apparently turned very ugly. I ended up canceling her service a month before the wedding and needed to find a new vendor, which was very stressful. I'm giving her an additional star because she waived the cancellation fee.

To all Brides-to-be: AVOID USING FOR YOUR WEDDING - CAUSED A LOT OF STRESS

I had to communicate with the owner for a total of 5 months, including the trial. I spent two months waiting on them to update paperwork on their side before I could make a deposit. The whole time, I was told that my date was secure. After finally getting the contract, the owner cancelled on me after 5 days. She never followed up with me. I had to reach out the owner once a week just to keep things moving. I copied an example of one of her emails below. (This was 2 months into talking with her).

"Good morning,
Yes I got your info and saved it. I had set up and a wedding yesterday and my day is now starting. I'll email the contract with the information you provided asap. But don't worry since I have your confirmation of services your date is saved and covered. "

Makeup is decent, but they also have some weird expense-minimums that I've never seen/heard of before. (This is after speaking to the 5 largest hair and makeup vendors in the area). Their pool of makeup and hair artists is very small as well. I'm sure there are many other hair and makeup artists easier to work with in the area!
