Anniversary Party- Incredible Space!
We had our anniversary party at Ships of the Sea and it was INCREDIBLE. Not only was Sloan one of the sweetest and most professional people I’ve ever worked with, but all of the staff were wonderful and funny and engaging. They made all of our guests feel welcomed and taken care of.
We had around 45 people and the museum still brought the same energy and attention that I feel would have been given to a party of 300. They didn’t make me feel less important or less taken care of at all. The bartenders are also incredibly trained/skilled so they were making our guests some really fun cocktails and catered to our requests like mint juleps and lavender gin and tonic! I left lavender at home and they quickly figured it out on their end to still satisfy our requests.
Overall, I highly recommend you have your event here whether it’s a birthday party, anniversary, wedding or even corporate party. You definitely won’t regret it! Such a lovely place for a wedding!
We fell in love with the Ships of the Sea gardens and knew we had to have our wedding ceremony here. They were extremely easy to work with and coordinate with. We love that the gardens are open to the public during the day and everyone can enjoy the beautiful blooms. We had our friends and family join us here on April 23rd, 2022. We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Ships of the Sea Garden on April 14, 2012. Our 14-month planning process was a breeze – Tony initially was our contact and then Michelle, who was hired in Oct 2011. They are amazing; so welcoming, full of local vendor suggestions and tips, very quick replies (helpful since I was planning our wedding from 3000 miles away). I can’t say enough good things about the both of them, the venue, the entire process. We did have one rather large snag about 2 months before the wedding (construction delay!) but Tony and Michelle pulled out all the big guns (along with RANCO rentals) and bent over backwards to ensure our day went perfectly, which it did! Make sure you book them FAR in advance. They book up fast and are worth every penny! We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Ships of the Sea Garden on April 14, 2012. A Hidden Gem
Beautiful gardens, affordable venue, close to everything, tucked away and intimate- this is a PERFECT place for a wedding! We booked the Gardens here for our outside ceremony only; however, there is a large covered area also in the gardens in case of bad weather. The gardens are absolutely stunning at any time of year (we visited the location in the fall prior to our spring wedding). The staff were super easy to talk to and easy to get ahold of. Did I also mention free parking for your guests? It seriously is a hidden gem in Savannah.Beautiful gardens, affordable venue, close to everything, tucked away and intimate- this is a PERFECT place for a wedding! This venue is THE BEST!
The Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum was recommended to us by a local, and thank goodness it was, as it was truly meant to be the venue to host our special day. Regan and her team took excellent care of us for 2+ years. (yes, the only downfall was the long wait, but I can assure you time flies by and if you're willing to wait you will not regret it).
The entire venue is breathtaking and in prime location for Savannah visitors. From the house to the gardens, it made for several magical backdrops! It provided everything under one roof (ceremony site, cocktail hour, and reception).
Every single email was answered in a timely and professional manner. Every question was answered. (Trust me, I am the person that asks 1,000+ questions). Every concern was met with reassurance, options, and accommodations.
I would HIGHLY recommend this venue to anyone and everyone!

We are THRILLED we chose Ships of the Sea as our venue. They were so accommodating, and Debbie is a pleasure to work with. We were planning a destination, as we live in NY, and they made it easy for us to get everything done.
We had multiple requests for personal details we wanted to add, and Debbie handle every curve ball we threw at her. She helped us find musicians and a wedding planner. And every time I emailed her with multiple (sometimes random) questions, she answered them fully.
The venue is stunning, and all of our guests complimented us on how beautiful it is. We barely needed ceremony or cocktail decorations, as the space is wonderful as is.
I highly recommend ships as your wedding venue! You will not be disappointed. We are THRILLED we chose Ships of the Sea as our venue. They were so accommodating, and Debbie is a pleasure to work with. Debbie Shuman and the whole team at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum were such a pleasure to work with! They were prompt, professional, and by the end of it felt like friends. They are very proud of their establishment and keep the venue & gardens in tip top shape. The bridal sweet and facilities were kept at a perfect temperature and enough space for my large group to store things as well. I had both my ceremony and reception here, and also had them provide the alcohol & bartenders. I couldn’t have gone with a more perfect venue, worth every penny!Debbie Shuman and the whole team at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum were such a pleasure to work with! Ships was hands down amazing! All our guests kept complimenting the venue and the flow of the evening. Ceremony area needs no decorations, it speaks for itself! Debbie was great about getting in touch with us on any of our needs. Location is great, especially if you are planning on heading to City market after your wedding. Where to begin? When my wife and I first walked in the ivy-covered entrance, through the secret garden pathways and into the breathtaking Scarbrough Garden behind the house, we knew instantly that this was the place we wanted to get married. Quiet and hushed, all of the hustle and bustle of the Downtown Historic district fade away transporting you to what feels like your own private garden. The venue is a gorgeous backdrop to any ceremony, but it also has other more practical benefits as well. Debbie Shuman, the wedding venue coordinator, is incredibly helpful, responsive and pleasant. We had so many unique and personal requests for our ceremony and for our bars (which the venue and Debbie also take care of) and she was immensely accommodating and kind with all of our requests. We quickly found that all of our vendors love working in the space as well. It was perfectly set up for our Caterer (working kitchen on property); the table, chair, and lighting rental house have easy load-in areas as well as adequate power; and there was plenty of space and good acoustics for our 2, 7-piece live bands. Moreover, there is already an easy, natural and wonderful flow built into the space so guests are never confused about where to go. It also removes any complicated logistics involved in transporting people between different spaces. Our guests loved exploring the museum during the cocktail hour and all of the gardens, and it was especially wonderful to see the little children running through the trees and playing in the grass. All of our guests felt welcome, enchanted and taken care of by the staff and the venue, and it could not have been a more beautiful and perfect place for every part of our wedding.Where to begin? Flawless... Absolutely flawless. Debbie Shuman was amazing from day one. She was responsive to our emails for any questions she had and was so easy to work with. Our wedding day could of not been more perfect. I wanted something different than my siblings who had a church wedding and the ships of sea was far more than I ever could imagine. Every single one of our guest kept saying over and over how beautiful everything it was. Thanks Debbie for all you did for us!!

Picking Ships of the Sea as our wedding venue was one of the first, and best, choices we made for our wedding. Debbie was amazing. She was easily the nicest vendor we worked with, and she was really excited to see our plans for the two gardens, and was more than willing to help with our signature drink from their bar service. It was honestly the best place we could have ever imagined to have our wedding and reception.Picking Ships of the Sea as our wedding venue was one of the first, and best, choices we made for our wedding. Ships of the Sea was my dream venue, and we could not have been happier with having our wedding here! We were married in the Scarborough Garden, had the cocktail hour in the pergola under the trellis, and had everyone come back over to the Scarborough Garden for the reception. Guests also had access to the maritime museum during cocktail hour. We did rent the Scarborough & North Gardens, so our guests had free reign and really enjoyed exploring both sides of the garden and the "secret paths". The entire property is absolutely gorgeous, especially in early October when we had our wedding. Debbie was fantastic to work with!! She is such a sweetheart and was genuinely happy for my husband and me. She was great about getting back with us and being flexible on our needs. Any bride looking for a unique venue and a private garden wedding would absolutely adore this place. The rental fee is on the more expensive end, but the bar package is extremely affordable. Tip: cafe lights strung in the garden make the pictures absolutely pop!Ships of the Sea was my dream venue, and we could not have been happier with having our wedding here! The Ships of the Sea North Garden ecompassed everything we were looking for in a Savannah venue. It's still rather new, but I know once brides start discovering this place, they will be booked far in advance. The pavilion in the North Garden was created especially for events such as weddings and it shows. The lighting is beautiful, so you don't have to worry about hiring a lighting company; there is a comfy bride's suite where you can relax when needed during the reception (my Grandma spent quite a bit of time there) and the kitchen was built specifically with a chef's needs in mind. The gardens are gorgeous - the photographer couldn't get enough of them, and neither could our guests. Michelle and Debbbie are both so professional, but treated us like friends at the same time. They both were great about communicating, especially via emailing (big for me since I work full-time). This is such a special venue, and I wish Ships of the Sea all the success in the future. They were right on the money in creating this beautiful garden and pavilion. :)The Ships of the Sea North Garden ecompassed everything we were looking for in a Savannah venue. We had our wedding reception at the Ships of the Sea Museum gardens on March 27 2011. It's the perfect location for an outdoor party. we had about 100 guests attending and could not have been happier with our choice of venue. The museum coordinators Tony and Wendy are the friendliest most helpful people on the planet. it was as if we were part of their family getting married at their house.
the garden itself is very unique, it has several romantic pathways and the scenery makes a perfect backdrop in our wedding pictures. We highly recommend Ships of the Sea Museum if you're looking for a fun outdoor venue.

Our wedding at Ships of the Sea worked out really well. We had the craziness of needing to reschedule after Hurricane Matthew caused the evacuation for our original October date but Debbie was incredibly easy to work with. The venue is incredibly convenient to downtown (a huge plus for our 100% destination guest list) and entirely self-contained. We loved being able to have our wedding in front of the picturesque museum and also being able to completely convert the Garden Pavilion into something completely romantic and formal without being stuffy or necessarily tied to a rustic look. The gardens are beautiful -- so beautiful that our photographers requested we spend MORE time at the venue rather than our original first look location. All in all, it was a great choice and we are so happy with our decision. Our wedding at Ships of the Sea worked out really well.
