Matt did an awesome job, communicating and informing of us the logistics and what to expect for our wedding day. Don, our DJ for the the wedding was amazing. He was energetic and presented an atmosphere of fun and excitement. We left the song selections up to Don, but he was flexible and didn’t hesitate to take request. Absolute professional at keeping everything on track and making sure everybody had a great experience. Recommend 100% for anybody’s future weddings or events!

We had Mark as our wedding day DJ. Everything ran so smoothly even with a downpour during the ceremony! Matt Shew!!! The man who truly made our wedding a PARTY! Shew-sical came highly recommended by our venue Bluebird Manor, and after a quick few emails last year we secured them for our wedding date. I 100% recommend Shew-sical! Matt Shew was always so responsive and easy to work with. We had to change our wedding date due to COVID and they made the transition process seamless. Unfortunately, my husband’s best man was deployed for our wedding, but Matt worked with me to surprise my husband so we could play a recording of the best man speech! It was awesome. Matt and Nicole were fantastic to work with from the start! From the planning stages to the last song at our wedding, the process was seamless. Planning and getting married during COVID-19 had many, many challenges, but Matt was 100% on top of every last minute change that wes needed. Most importantly, he got all of our guests up and dancing (even if it was at their own tables to stay distanced from others) from start to finish! Matt Shew did an awesome job setting up our contract and working with us diligently to make sure we had the perfect setup for our wedding. He was very fast in returning emails and flexible with us about adding time and changing venues.
Tom who was our DJ for the night did an awesome job as well. He had great control over the whole wedding and kept everyone having fun the entire night. He also double and triple checked with us on pronunciations of people’s names for introductions. It seemed like no small detail slipped by him.
I would highly recommend Matt and his team for any future events and hope to get to use their services again in the future!

We chose Shewsical as our DJ and Lighting services for our wedding reception and could not be happier with our experience! The lights definitely set the intimate, romantic, candle lit feel I wanted for dinner, and fun, energetic, colorful vibes for the dance floor! Our DJ, Tom, was a perfect match for us! He NAILED the special requests we gave him for our introductions, did not play any of the songs we banned, and was an excellent part at keeping the party going smoothly as we went from cutting the cake, having our first dance, and tossing the bouquet and garter. So happy with them
We had been considering going the Spotify route when a coworker convinced me to hire a DJ, and I am SO glad we did! We worked with Matt and it took so much responsibility off my shoulders. Instead of having to decide every single song that would play all day, we gave him our list of must-plays and do-not-plays and let him do the rest. He handled different setups for our ceremony, cocktail, and reception sites, which is no small task, for a reasonable price. We and our guests are not much for dancing, but music is very important to us and it was so nice having our favorite songs play throughout the night. Additionally... he was SO MUCH MORE than just a playlist. He was able to play the right songs at the right times (such as cake cutting, and timing our intro perfectly), which we wouldn't have been able to do ourselves. He kept us on schedule throughout the reception and worked seamlessly with our venue and caterer to make sure all the important things got done. He handled the background music while guests were arriving at the ceremony and during cocktail hour, when my husband and I weren't even present. There was NO WAY we could have done what he did. It put our minds at ease to be able to hand off such a big responsibility to a true professional, and it was a huge bonus that he worked so well with the other vendors we selected. We booked Shew-sical as a recommendation from our venue and we are SO glad we did. Nicole was our DJ for our wedding ceremony and reception on 10.12.19 and she kept the party going the ENTIRE night which was exactly what I had hoped for! This company was wonderful to work with, and well priced. They came recommended to us by a coworker, and they ended up being the most cost effective out of the DJ selection. They had us meet one on one with them at the office in Frederick to make sure our big day would go as planned. We ended up having a DJ change, so one of the owners did the reception herself. She was wonderful! During the reception she brought us a recommendation to reorder a couple things on our list so we could make sure every guest would be able to participate in case someone were to leave the reception early. They were very open and accommodating, and not afraid to bring suggestions to the table. They were professional and dressed accordingly for the reception as well. They practiced name pronunciation before hand with us too. I definitely recommend this company for a wedding reception!

Look no further! Matt Shew is the real deal! I had a complicated setup and needed music inside for dinner and outside for dancing. Not only did he help keep everything on track and stick to my detailed schedule, but he also made sure that I was okay with any changes that my guests asked for with my music selection and other timing. He was critical in helping organize my guests as they moved outside for our larger reception and getting everyone situated for our sparkler exit.
Matt will take the time to sit down with you beforehand to understand what you want on your wedding day and how you want things to go. Not sure what you want? Don't worry! Matt can guide you through it, provide you music suggestions and walk through a typical day and help you customize it to you.
Basically, no matter how complicated I made things, he found a way to keep everything together, moved through everything smoothly, pronounced our difficult names with ease and relieved so much stress from me on my wedding day.
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend him as a wedding DJ, event MC and also, see his sister company WOW Event Lighting - we used it for all of our uplighting to really set the mood for dancing.

A wonderful night filled with LOTS of dancing!
We decided to book Shew-sical as our DJ for our wedding and we are so thankful that we did!! Matt and Nicole were so helpful and gave us lots of great ideas! My husband and I were indecisive about a lot of things and Matt and Nicole guided us every step of the way. Matt and Chris were both DJs at our wedding and all of our friends and family still rave about how much fun they had and how great the music was! Matt and Chris read the crowd and played the perfect songs to keep our guests dancing all night long! They were also super flexible when I threw a last minute change at them. We would definitely recommend them and would use them again in a heart beat!

An Amazing Experience
As a venue, I'd like to express how wonderful Nicole was to work with yesterday/last night. She is extremely professional, and an expert at what she does. She is bright, proactive, shows leadership, shares enthusiasm in her presentation/announcements and efficient setting up and leaving at the end. Excellent DJ!
I had a great experience with Shew-sical Entertainment. Their communication was great leading up to the wedding and our DJ, Rob, was incredibly friendly and did a great job. We had a very small wedding so I was worried about keeping the momentum going with dancing, and Rob did a great job feeling out the crowd and playing music that would get everyone up and dancing. He was also patient and understanding when we had a couple last minute changes to the timeline. I could not recommend more!

Great DJ Service
Shew-sical provided the microphones and music for our ceremony and reception. There was a slight challenge with the lapel microphone during the ceremony, but it was quickly resolved. The DJ assigned to us had years of experience and was excellent. They contacted us well in advance of the wedding to get an idea of the music we were looking for, and we completed a more detailed worksheet closer to the event. Our DJ contacted us a few weeks out to ensure that we were all on the same page. We were very satisfied with their service.

Shew-sical is the vendor for you!
There are not enough words in the English language to describe the level of professionalism, quality, and customer service that Matt and the entire Shew-sical team provided us before, during, and after our wedding. They were up front about all costs, and even recommended ways that we could save money. They went through an extensive process with us to make sure that we 1) loved every bit of music and 2) not worry about the little things, like the pronunciaton of family names or the order of events. Every single minute of our ceremony and reception was executed beautifully, and that is all thanks to Matt. He was present and provided a structured frame for our wedding, but he also read the room and didn't provide too much commentary (as we preferred less structure and more a free-form reception). While we did provide some ideas for music, my husband and I did give too many detailed listed. Using information from meeting us just once, Matt was able to choose songs that were fun, got us on our feet, and time and again made us say, "We LOVE this song!!" (I'm still trying to figure this one out... I think they teach their DJs to read minds at Shew-sical). Choose Shew-sical for your event not just because they are a local, family owned business in Frederick, but because they provide the highest quality sound and services of any wedding that I have been to or been a part of.... just trust me on this!!

We were so thrilled with Robert and this company! Everything was straight forward and simple from the very beginning. Awesome DJ Services
Shew-sical was amazing! They were great during planning and were able to give us recommendations for music! Matt came out and was the DJ for our wedding. Matt made sure that he was there and was ready to go for the ceremony and reception through the freezing rain and downpours of the day. Matt played to the crowd and was able to get everyone on the dance floor and helped us make it a night to remember! We loved their services and would recommend them for any event!

Everyone was on the Dance Floor

Most Amazing DJ!
My husband and I had reached out to Shew-sical Entertainment due to a very poor experience involving our wedding. We were in a crunch and were very nervous due to previous experiences. Shew-sical washed all our worries away by their constant availability for questions. They had us fill out a questionnaire and told us they would match a DJ with us based off our needs. Due to our nerves this worried us. After the wedding I have to say that Shew-Sical Entertainment (our DJ Tom) went above our expectations to make the night absolutely perfect. They matched us with an absolutely amazing DJ, Tom! Our entire wedding was on the dance floor ALL night long. Tom had everyone entertained and having a blast from start to finish. I cannot say in enough words how amazing our experience was! This will be a night we will never forget. Looking back on many photos from the night, most are from everyone on the dance floor having the time of their lives. We will always be so grateful to Shew-sical for the amazing memories made on our wedding night. Thank you shew-sical and Tom, we cannot thank you enough!!

Travis brought the house down!
Shew-sical was recommended by our wedding planners (Shout out for the recommendation A. Griffin Events!). They had already recommended some other great vendors so we thought...why not?
We took the leap and booked Shew-sical and we were not dissapointed. They asked us detailed questions about songs we liked and disliked. They made it super easy to send them our ceremony songs as well.
Travis was our DJ for the night of our wedding and he kept everyone dancing all night! So many that our guests broke out in to a “one more song, one more song!” After he called the last song of the night. Weeks after the wedding people are asking who we hired and that we had a killer DJ. My two cousins even said Travis was “so much better than our brothers DJ”. So I call that a win! Also, I gave Travis a huge hug at the end of the night!
Overall I was so immensely pleased with everything about Shew-sical. If you hire them for your wedding make sure to bring your dancing shoes!!!

Could They BE Anymore Amazing?!
I was the Maid of Honor at my best friend's wedding, and that is when I was introduced to Matt Shew, her DJ. Throughout the night, he was absolutely perfect- professional, creative, and kept the dance floor full! After her wedding, booking Shew-sical for my wedding was one of the first things I did!
From the initial email to our wedding night- Shew-sical was nothing but perfect. They were so organized and helpful, sending us emails with itinerary worksheets, top playlists, and always being very prompt with email responses. Whatever crazy bride question I asked, there was the perfect response in return. Never one stressful moment with them. Matt Shew was our DJ for the night and the only thing I regret was not giving him the biggest hug before we left. When we arrived to our venue, he immediately came up to us, introduced himself, congratulated us, and then reassured us that everything will go great- and it did. A week later and people are still telling us how much fun the wedding was- and I thank the music! What a wonderful job Matt did! I couldn't recommend him more!

Great DJ - witnessed at multiple weddings
Matt was the DJ for my wedding & reception as well as my 2 sister in laws. He was a great communicator and extremely organized. He had great documents to make sure all music was accounted for during the whole event. They did not hide any costs in their pricing. It was easy to ask questions and receive the answers that I needed. He provided great recommendations on song choices and what equipment to bring based on the location of the ceremony. Most importantly, Matt did a great job of keeping the dance floor full during the receptions and getting all age groups to dance. We gave Matt a loose guide of reception dance floor music and told him to work his magic since he was the expert. We were extremely pleased with him from ours and the other weddings that he was the DJ for and highly recommend him for your wedding + reception.

After searching through many DJ vendors in Northern Virginia, we ended up hiring Shew-sical from Maryland to be our wedding's DJ. Shew-sical is the absolute best! Everyone was on the floor dancing all night, from the youngest of guests to our 92-year-old grandmother. Communication was excellent throughout the entire engagement to the day of the wedding. I had no concerns at all. Shew-sical had an excellent planning document that helped us capture our vision. Matt was our DJ. We had a do not play list, and he verified with us multiple times about whether it would be ok to play any songs off of the list if requested. We also had a few strange requests and he warned us about them ahead of time. He was extremely competent and reassuring. It was a great evening thanks to Shew-sical!

We hired Shew-sical for our wedding and could not have been happier with their services! Prior to the wedding they demonstrated excellent communication and had great song suggestions. They were very organized and helped us plan out the timing for the main events of our wedding. The Shew-sical team did a great job with our wedding event. Our DJ was Robert, and kept our guests (at least the bride!) on their feets all night long, even jumping in to help us remember a line dance. When planning our wedding, the music was a huge priority for us. We went with Shew-sical and were not disappointed! We had Dan for a DJ and we very impressed! Leading up to our wedding, he was attentive, organized, and made suggestions to make sure the night would be the best possible. During the reception, he noticed the guests eyeing up the cupcakes and suggested some itinerary changes that made the night go smoothly and kept all the guests involved. Our DJ was Matt and he did an amazing job even in 90-degree weather (we got married at the end of September). He was very responsive and answered all of our questions. He took to the time to meet with us in person. He even made last minute changes that I requested to our playlist. My guests are not big dancers, but he made sure to keep the party going. We gave him a list of must play songs for our ceremony, introductions, dances, and other wedding activities. We also gave him a list of other songs that we would like to hear during the reception, but didn’t have to play. He played those songs plus similar songs. They also wanted to know the songs that we did not want played. Matt was also great about following the timeline. He always let us know when our next activity was coming up. My Great-Grandmom’s 103rd birthday was the day after our wedding and he made a special announcement for her and wished her a Happy Birthday. I highly recommend Matt and his team!

We initially experienced Matt and Shew-sical at our friend's wedding in 2016. We had such a blast at their wedding that when it came time to start planning our own wedding we knew Shew-sical would be the way to go for our DJ as well. Matt and Nicole were amazing to work with throughout the whole planning process. They were extremely organized and made sure every aspect of the day was thought of and planned out. They also have a list of songs to go through to make sure there are no songs that you do not want played at your wedding. Matt and Nicole were always easy to contact and very quick to respond to questions and their pricing was very reasonable as well. Matt is amazing! We had some special song requests and he not only made it all work, he was enthusiastic and supportive of everything we threw at him. My husband joked about making a Stone Cold Steve Austin entrance and was a little surprised when I asked for that at our meeting with Matt. It ended up being a really fun part of our day and its my husband's favorite memory from our wedding. We had a dry wedding with a packed dance floor, which meant the world to me. I LOVE to dance and my husband DOES NOT. Even he was out there most of the time. My great aunt got out of her seat for Yeah! by Usher, because the dance party was that much fun. The pictures really say more than I can, but I have only great things to say about Shew-sical!

Words cannot express how thankful we are that we choose Shew-sical to DJ our wedding. We found them from a friend that used them at their wedding along with 10 or so of her friends and family that also used them. We had DJ Mike A and he kept the dance floor packed all night. We have had so many friends say that they haven't danced like that at a wedding in a long time and have asked us to get married again so they can do it all over! We had everyone from our 2 year old daughter to my 85 year old grandfather out there! They were very responsive, easy to work with, and the price can't be beat. This company is the best of the best! From exchanging emails back and forth to meeting with the owners, I knew right away I was in good hands. They were wonderful in every aspect. They were so organized when it came to the process and layout of the songs for the wedding and course of events. Even my day of planner was blown away on how awesome the DJ Tom was! He arrived hours before it started so he knew he was there on time and ready. The week leading up Tom and I spoke almost daily going over songs and him aiding me in advice. Literally everyone was on the dance floor all night long. He really knew how to feel the crowd and made everyone dance the night away. Skew-sical was an amazing company to work with . I highly recommend them to every bride and groom !

Shew-sical was such an amazing find for us, and we will recommend them to everyone looking for a DJ. They were organized, responsive, and professional - all things very important to me! Rob, our DJ, was fabulous. I was able to email him a week and a half beforehand to ask him to shorten a few songs for the traditional dances, and he did so no problem. He was pleasant and professional during the entire ceremony. He listened to our requests and our do not play these songs and he kept the party going all night. Our guests, including my husband and I, were impressed with the wide variety of songs that were played and felt it represented our music styles so well. I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience from start to end.

Matt Shew did a fantastic job providing the DJ services for my daughter's wedding! I highly recommend Shew-Sical as they are super helpful, organized, accommodating, great at communication, and know how to throw a party!! Matt was my DJ (who I booked early due to his awesome reviews) and here I am leaving him another one. He was very flexible with altering music and music requests, but most importantly he kept everyone on the dance floor all night long - which was my exact hope and request to him for my wedding day. He also has a great MC voice (I know someone out there is curious about that ha!). Matt was awesome and I truly would hire him and his company again for any future events.

Matt and Nicole are an amazing team to work with! They make the process of planning wedding music so easy and are there to help every step of the process. I actually worked with them from a distance via email and phone and they would always get back to me with answers I needed the next day if not sooner. The day of our wedding we even had some last minute changes to the "introductions" and the DJ handled it no problem! They played all the songs we requested and so many more that our dance floor was packed the whole night! Matt and Nicole's suggested timeline for the night worked out wonderfully so there was plenty of time for speeches, first dances, and open dancing...I really couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening!

I was recently married in Northern VA and we were blessed to have DJ Jeff from Shew-sical Entertainment play for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Jeff played music that set the mood for each part of the wedding and kept the party going through the whole night! He followed our no-play and please-play song lists as well as guest requests. He also coordinated with our live ceremony musician flawlessly (we had my brother-in-law play our song for the bridal processional) to ensure everything went smoothly. I have received a lot of compliments from our guests about how much fun our wedding was and I know Jeff played a big role in the success of our wedding. We couldn't be happier with the amazing service we got with Shew-sical Entertainment and highly recommend DJ Jeff!

Shew-sical was the DJ for our wedding on 6/30 at Walker's Overlook. They were really helpful leading up to the Big Day and met with us to learn our music tastes and discuss the timeline of the reception - they even gave us some suggestions which we are glad we incorporated! They were super responsive with email communication. Everyone at the reception loved the music and just about all guests were up and dancing. The DJ really helped the reception run smoothly and we are so glad we picked Shew-sical!

Nicole was a fantastic DJ for my daughter's wedding. She took care of the ceremony music, knew exactly what I asked for, and played the file my husband rehearsed with and sang to. The reception was a great party with everyone out on the dance floor. I was happy everyone enjoyed themselves so much. Nicole is an experienced professional and easy to work with. She was also a fantastic Master of Ceremonies who kept everything moving along nicely.

We were extremely happy with our entire experience with Shew-sical Entertainment. Our biggest concern initially was planning our wedding in PA from where we live in NY, as it was nearly impossible for us to make a 7 hour trip for a short meeting during the week. Luckily, they made this process as smooth as possible for us. We communicated primarily via email and their responsiveness was fantastic. They gave us a very detailed itinerary and music list to fill out well in advance of our wedding and also followed up with me frequently to see how it was coming along. They were very accommodating in the fact that we rearranged some of the itinerary and incorporated a custom mix for our father-daughter dance. The only thing I would have changed would have been to fade out the other first dance songs as they lasted approximately 7 minutes each, but I am also confident that they would have, had I asked them to. (I did not think about the length of the songs until that moment, so I partially blame myself for that!) I will absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a great DJ for any event!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED SHEW-SICAL!!! Matt did such an amazing job. From our first consultation, my husband and I knew that we had found our DJ. Matt kept the reception flowing without ever making us feel rushed. He worked with our requests for certain songs, and had us dancing to the perfect playlist. Most impressive was that he took what I thought would be a fairly tame group and had them tearing up the dance floor! One of my friends that was at our wedding has already booked Matt for her upcoming wedding. Endless praises to Matt and his whole team!

Shew-sical provided us with a great DJ. I wanted someone that knew our venue well, which was Ceresville Mansion, and I know they have performed there a lot. Our DJ was Travis. He was a great DJ and a great MC. We don't live close to Frederick so Travis was able to have several phone conversations with us to make sure we are all on the same page. Shew-sical was very responsive with all my questions and song requests. They were able to find the ceremony songs I was looking for and were accommodating with the Russian and Jewish songs I wanted played. We also used their lighting services which was good as well. They seem like an experienced company that knows what they are doing and provide great customer service.

Our wedding day was a dream for so many reasons, but our fantastic DJ, TIM, was absolutely outstanding and made our magical day that much more magical! My husband and I had VERY specific expectations and Tim catered to all of them without missing a beat. The company is so organized and all of the beforehand planning made our day run so smoothly. Tim was my best friend at our reception... checking in with us often but not too much, and making sure we were happy and getting exactly what we wanted. We can't say enough great things! We absolutely loved him! :)

Wow- Super impressed with Shew-sical entertainment! They are very responsive and easy to work with! Mike A was amazing. We had never heard of this group but they were recommended to us by our vendor. We took a leap of faith and booked with them and we are SO glad we did. Mike was very professional, showed up way early to the wedding and even had extra microphones for our ceremony. My husband and I believe that the music makes the reception and Mike A kept our guest on the dance floor the entire night! Looking back at pictures I even said "wow that dance floor was packed!" He played all of the songs that we wanted and nothing that we didn't. We had a set list for cocktail hour and dinner but for the reception, we simply gave him an idea of what we like and he was 100% on point!! I HIGHLY recommend this company and Mike A. He made our wedding such an awesome time!! THANK YOU!!!!

We booked Shewsical because several family members had already used them for their own weddings, but we were still amazed at how great the service was. Nobody can say that they missed any events at our wedding, because our DJ (Jonathan Smithfield-he was INCREDIBLE) announced everything a few minutes prior to it happening. He was in contact with us while picking music, easily accessible by texting and email, and overall did a great job. Cannot speak highly enough of this company!!

We loved using & working with Shew-sical Entertainment. Our DJ - Matt - was AWESOME. He is very quick to respond, easy to work with & will play whatever you want. My biggest request was to keep my guests dancing as I wanted a BIG PARTY atmosphere for our wedding....he definitely delivered. He is also proactive the day of making some suggestions to keep things running smoothly. I love that we got to use him again....our first use was for my sister's wedding several years ago. Matt was just as good if not better for my wedding! If you want someone from Frederick Matt is your guy! And very affordable.

I was lucky enough to work directly with Matt! I was a bit picky on the music I wanted for my wedding, and Matt came through spectacularly! We even had special dances outside of the normal bride/groom mother/son type dances, and he got everything right and just overall made the event wonderful! I would use Shewsical again and again, but I don't think my husband would want another wedding ??

Working with Matt and Nicole was so easy. The contract was solid and we filled out a worksheet for the day of, describing all song requests, names within the wedding party, whether we wanted to do a bouquet toss, etc. They were so organized, and easy to get in touch with.
I found them through the Frederick Area Bridal Network. Since I had no idea where to start as to looking for a DJ, I started there. Also, since our venue was in Frederick, MD, I figured there wouldn't be any travel fees (and there were not). After contacting them via e-mail, we did get to meet Matt in person, which was great. He was very friendly and able to answer all of the questions and concerns we had.
We finalized everything via email, and it was great that Matt was the one able to DJ our special day. He was great at taking our song list and making it work with the current environment. No one danced at our wedding until the last hour, but when we were ready to dance, he was ready with dance-club music, which was perfect!!
He was on time and dressed appropriately. He stayed for his contracted hours, and made sure to say good-bye before he left.
As having never hired a DJ before, this was a great experience. I would highly recommend Shew-sical to anyone looking for a DJ.

He paid attention to details and checked in with me at various times during the wedding. He kept us on schedule and really felt out the crowd and played music that would get people dancing. Our wedding was this past weekend, and it's hard to quantify how important Shew-sical was in making our wedding the success that it was. We had the pleasure of having one of the owners (Matt) and from beginning to end he was a class act and just owned the event. Multiple guests approached me and told me what a fantastic job he did. Matt showed up early, prepared for details that I overlooked, and even came to our bridal suite with some amazing suggestions on some ideas that he had. He controlled the flow, had people all over the dance floor, and was willing to do anything that my wife and I wanted. They are quick to respond to email, rest assured, and they make your wedding so seamless that you just sit back and enjoy you day!

Our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and a lot of that is thanks to our DJ, Mike Appenzellar. He was super flexible as their were last minute changes and he went above and beyond to make our day perfect! I was nervous about the ceremony and how he would know when to play and when I was coming in but he made everything flow perfectly. We would use Mike again!

I would highly recommend using Shew-sical Entertainment for any of your events! I used them for my wedding reception and they were OUTSTANDING!
