Outstanding Experience at Sheraton Waterside in Norfolk VA
My experience with Sheraton Waterside Norfolk was truly exceptional. It was my daughter’s wedding, and as any parent would, I wanted everything to be perfect. I’ll admit I had some concerns going in, particularly because the original chef we had our tasting with was no longer there. His food had been great, and I didn’t get a chance to taste the new chef’s menu until the night of the wedding. That did give me some anxiety.
But let me tell you, the food was amazing! Every dish was delicious, and the cheesecake was hands down the best I’ve ever had in my life.
Our event planner, Nicki Trainer, was phenomenal. She didn’t miss a single detail and worked closely with our family to ensure everything went smoothly. Whether in person or by phone, she was always available and eager to help. When I realized at the last minute that I didn’t have name tags for the tables, the team quickly stepped in to help.
The suite my daughter stayed in was absolutely beautiful, and everything about the day felt magical. It was truly the perfect day for my perfect baby girl.
Thank you to all the staff who played a part in making this celebration so special. Sabrina Thomas, a special thank you for recommending this hotel for my daughter’s wedding and the role you played in its success. A week later, and people are still talking about how beautiful and well-organized everything was. If you’re planning a wedding, look no further. This is the place to have it. -

Beautiful venue
We were so happy having our wedding here, it was a beautiful space and everything was perfect for our day. The wedding coordinator is super responsive and constantly checks up on you leading up to the event. Would highly recommend the ballroom with the veranda, a lot of my guests enjoyed being able to step out by the water when cooling down from the party. -

If you want a special venue that is easy for out of town guests, see Kelly Bridgeman at the Sheraton in downtown Norfolk! I booked the Riverwalk Ballroom with a breathtaking view of the Harbor. I was treated to delicious food, set up and table linens, up lighting and special wedding room rates. Not only did they help my other vendors with set-up and deliveries, but the hotel took care of my family from making reservations to meeting their needs all weekend. It was a beautiful day, thanks to these wonderful people and their outgoing thoughtfulness. -

Kelly Bridgeman at the Sheraton Waterside Norfolk Hotel was SO extremely helpful in the planning of our wedding. She was very flexible in letting us choose the location of the ceremony, removing dairy from our buffet meals, providing gluten free meals, allowing us to get kosher catering for some guests, and much more. We had originally planned to pay for our guests' parking, but there was a miscommunication on all parts and our guests wound up paying for their own parking anyway because they did not see the parking tickets laid out. Other than that, everything was great. The food was fantastic, everyone commented on how much they loved it. The venue was beautiful, even though we had to move the ceremony indoors because of weather. There was a really loud dance competition going on upstairs while we were there ,but we could not hear it in the ceremony hall OR the reception, so we were impressed by that. The dance floor started to fall apart and had to be cleared a few times so they could tape it back together, which was a little bit of an annoyance, but did not take away from the great time everyone had at the Sheraton. Apparently some family members loved the hotel beds so much they researched how to purchase one! -

My Dream Wedding
Such a wonderful experience having our wedding here! We booked this venue almost 13 months in advance and had to shift our wedding date one time because we got pregnant in between the planning process! Over about 15 months in total, we worked with three hotel coordinators and they certainly saved the best staff member for last because Nicki really helped tie the bow together and make our day flawless. She answered all my questions so quickly and was very helpful with helping me get what I wanted and needed without having to compromise the budget.
This venue is so beautiful with an AMAZING water front view and I was blown away when I was given the quote for services because it’s one of the few places in the 757 that has a reasonable price for what is included in the package.
The night before and day of my wedding couldn’t have gone any better. I am such an anxious over planner and was so happy to see the hotel already had the space prepped for the wedding before I woke up! The hotel staff was so quick to help me with any little thing I needed. I truly felt like a queen. My husband was also so so happy with the outcome. It was beyond our expectations.
The hotel worked really well with the vendors we selected! The hotel’s food options are very delicious and the food tasting with Nicki was so much fun!!
The hotel offers a discount for wedding guests which was perfect because all of our guests came from out of town. I love how once you get to the hotel you don’t really have to leave because there is a restaurant and other amenities to enjoy. If you choose to venture out, there are many close food places and a little bit of a night life.
It was overall such a dream experience and very easy to plan our wedding even being out of town (we live in Alexandria, VA). We are so thankful we were able to have our dream wedding on a budget! I wouldn’t change anything about our special day.-

We were married on the veranda and had our reception in the Riverwalk Room. The views are great especially at night on the water. The food was great and the guests enjoyed it. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The honeymoon suite was fantastic and a very nice perk for having our wedding there. Jill Anwaar was our point of contact and she was fabulous! -

We used the Sheraton Waterside for our wedding block. I had 2 options and found the Sheraton to be the more valuable option. We reserved a block and the expectations were set to when we needed out block rooms reserved by and how much it would be. I give a little less credit for flexibility because we weren't able to book any late-joiners at the reduced rate, but that's more our fault than theirs. We used the hotel transportation to and from the venue and very rarely had any issues. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though the hotel was completely booked with a football team that was dispersed amongst our block. If we had all been together like we requested, we wouldn't have had any noise complaints. -

The catering team at the Sheraton was outstanding! The management and staff were very attentive. They set up all the decorations that I provided perfectly! The food and service at the reception were excellent! Also, the hotel room accommodations for the bride and groom were awesome! -

We did our ceremony and our reception at the Sheraton. There were a few last minute changes that landed in our favor, with being able to save money and have more room. The food was awsome...everyone was talking about how good it was! -

First of all, I would like to say that we booked our venue for our ceremony and reception with the Sheraton about 14 months in advance. At the time, we were notified that the hotel was undergoing renovations, but that all renovations would be complete well in advance of our May 27, 2017 wedding. We had an additional meeting in October to review the renovation schedule and were assured that everything was on schedule to be completed by February. It turns out that renovations did not begin until February, with several projects not starting until after this point.
We were never notified by the Sheraton that the renovations were behind the schedule we had been given. Obviously this created some significant concerns, especially when we attended our next meeting in the Spring and the entire hotel was a construction zone. At this point we were told our venue, the lobby, and the restaurant would all be complete by the wedding. The outdoor ceremony space and the reception space were the only things complete by the wedding. Additionally, the guests were routed through a pipe and drape tunnel through a construction space to enter the reception.
90% of our guests were from out of town so this impacted our day more than it might have a local wedding as the majority of our guests were staying at the hotel for the weekend.
I will say that Rhoda Rull is an incredible asset to the Sheraton team, and managed to accommodate us as best as possible given the horrendous situation of a continually slipping construction schedule. Our wedding was supposed to take place in a beautiful, newly renovated hotel on the water, and ended up taking place in a hotel undergoing renovations.
Once this renovation is complete, I'm sure this will be a fantastic venue again at a great value, but our experience was not in a newly renovated hotel despite assurances it would be. -

Plan to get dressed somewhere else. It was hard trying to get into the rooms. Wedding was at 5 and they didn't let my wedding party in the rooms as late as 4. -

The hotel is under renovations, and it is loud and disruptive. I had a hotel block of rooms for my wedding. They promised they would pass out the wedding bags when guests checked-in, but when I checked with my relatives and guests, they knew nothing about the bags. The had to request the bags when they returned. During the same time, there was a conference at the hotel, which isn't an issue except they were extremely understaffed for the valet. The valet personnel were extremely nice, however, it was poor management and planning to only have 2 valet workers when it was busy. It took on average 30 minutes to get our cars. Also, the room they gave me for my "wedding suite" was not anything special except it was on the 10th floor. The walls are thin, and I can hear everything that was going on in the rooms on either side of me. Additionally, the room was dirty. The only good thing about the hotel is location - it is convenient off the interstate, and central to lots of things to do downtown. I would never recommend this hotel is anyone if there are other options. -

Horrible service
I got engaged in Sept 2019 and I was originally working with Erica and she was EXTREMELY helpful and made me excited about planning our wedding and possibly scheduling our event at the hotel. We are in the military and was in process of transferring from Va to Tx and we decided to hold off putting a date on the wedding until we got settled in our new location. In February I called the Hotel to beginning planning our wedding and was told that Erika moved to a different department and I would be working with Emily Baker. When i first spoke with her she answered the questions that I asked but things that I was quoted by Erika had changed. I told her I would speak to my fiancé about these changes and every time I called the hotel for Emily I would leave voicemails for her to call me back and I wouldnt get a response for days or I would have to email her to get a faster response and everytime we would email I would get something quoted via email something completely different. And trying to plan a wedding is better done through communication rather than email. Then one day I just stop getting responses from her completely. A wedding is suppose to be a happy and joyful moment in a couples life and with her I did not get that feeling. I felt Unappreciated and I don’t want to have that kind of service on our happiest moments as a couple. If you are not dealing with her I would recommend the location but I dont not recommend it if you have to deal with that kind of professionalism. -
