My Dream Beach Wedding.

There simply are not enough words to express my gratitude for Charlie at Shadowland. His help was outstanding and I will forever be grateful. I could not have had my "Beach" Dream Wedding without his Shadowland Support.
Nor the Entire Support of All my Vendor Staffers.... From Everyone's Help we were able to pull this OFF.... I simply can not thank everyone enough!!

Great Reception Venue

We had our wedding reception here 11/5/22 and it was great!!! Setting beautiful, carousel rental a truly unique experience, and staff very professional. Could not be happier with celebrating our marriage here.

Truly a Perfect Day

Incredible. Bekah Keeton and her crew offered us the best venue we could have hoped for. We hear so often about last minute compromises or hiccup that cause stress on our special day, but not to be heard of at Shadowland under the coordination of Bekah. She is an amazing coordinator; attentive, kind, understanding, responsive, communicative, and offered so many well-thought ideas and suggestions for our wedding. We couldn't have chosen better.

COVID Wedding 2020 - Shadowland delivered flawlessly!

Shadowland on Silver Beach is an incredible Lake Michigan wedding venue. Working with Nicole, Rysa, and the rest of the team was such a pleasure. From our first meeting with Nicole, we knew we were in good hands. Answering countless emails and many phone conversations, all with a caring and genuinely kind attitude. The team made sure we knew all the details needed before we finalized our contracts. We were also planning our wedding from out of state (IL) so the team made sure to send us lots of pictures when we couldn’t be there in person to see something. We started planning our dream wedding before COVID-19. Once the pandemic started, our wedding coordinator, Rysa, stayed in constant communication with us to give us updates on what would happen with our current contract and wedding date. It was not easy for us, as the Bride and Groom, and we respected that it was not easy for Rysa and her team as a wedding venue. As our day quickly approached, Rysa made sure to accommodate what we were comfortable with as a couple, which was so important. We originally planned a wedding with 150-160 guests, and that was drastically reduced to 35-40 guests. Shadowland allowed us to proceed with our wedding on our original wedding date. They worked with us to ensure a safe ceremony and reception, including providing hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility and cleaning the bathrooms frequently. The staff wore masks at all times and practiced social distancing when possible. There were so many changes in the months leading up to our wedding and Rysa was always very responsive in working on our timeline. The day of our wedding, we unfortunately had a family emergency occur a few hours before the ceremony time. While we were able to proceed with both the ceremony and reception, many last-minute changes were needed day-of and Rysa did everything she could to ensure everything was taken care of. We were able to host our ceremony and reception outside under a tent on the patio facing the Whirlpool Fountain. So many of our guests commented on how perfect the venue was, from the location, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. All of our guests loved our appetizers and drinks that were served (we did not have a full dinner service). Towards the end of the evening we were able to have our guests use sparklers & Rysa was prepared with a butane torch! It was crucial in helping us get everyone’s sparklers lit for some really incredible pictures & it was something we did not think of that Rysa had proactively prepared. I would highly recommend Shadowland on Silver Beach for future couples looking for a beautiful wedding venue near Lake Michigan. Nicole, Rysa, and their team will take care of you & ensure your day is perfect! St. Joseph, Michigan holds a special place in our hearts and we love that we can come back and visit anytime!

Covid-era Wedding Success!

I wish we could give 6 stars on "flexibility" because Shadowland certainly earned extra credit during our pandemic wedding planning journey! I can't say enough good things about this venue and staff. I wouldn't wish our Covid wedding planning stress on any bride and groom, but I will tell you from personal experience, Shadowland will stop at NOTHING to give you the best wedding reception possible!

We were the classic "had everything planned out pre-Covid" story, so the Covid curveball really forced us to revise all our plans. Shadowland worked with the state on what the current guidelines were, and kept us updated with every change, giving us our options and telling us what to expect. Our venue wedding coordinator, Rysa, was so responsive with our questions, and truly made us feel like our wedding day was as important to them as it was to us.

Having an August 2020 wedding, we were unfortunately constrained to an outdoor reception, and although it was crushing to not be able to us their beautiful ballroom, I cried happy tears when they informed us they would be putting up tents for us outside so we could still host our reception with them. With so many cancelations and changes, it was a huge relief to know they were still in our corner and not going to give up on us!

Not only did they stick with us, but they went above and beyond to make sure it was amazing. One perfect example of their attention to detail was the color-coordinated bracelets they provided for guests to display their social comfort levels at the reception. This was a huge hit during an event where we had many guests of varied preferences. I would have never thought of this, but it made ALL the difference and was one less thing for me to worry about on our wedding day when we were giving out hugs and hellos.

I will admit, even though we didn't choose it on purpose, the outdoor "tent on the beach" feel was actually pretty great! The guests loved being able to walk down for sunset pictures, and it was fun dancing under the stars. Fortunately for us, the one thing we did NOT have to change was our food choices because Shadowland provided all the catering. There were so many great meal options available at our tasting that it was actually hard to pick what to serve on our wedding day, and as expected, everything was delicious! We received many compliments on the food.

Our wedding reception was absolutely perfect, even amidst the ongoing changes, and i know we have Shadowland to thank for making it possible.

September 14th Wedding

My husband and I wanted a destination beach wedding, but wanted all of our family there as well. When we found St. Joseph, MI it was like a hidden gem to us & then when we found Shadowland we knew we found the perfect spot to start our forever. Shadowland was the perfect location, being just steps from the beach! Being on the beach, allowed us to sneak out during our reception to get some sunset pictures that turned out amazing!!
From beginning to end, planning with Shadowland was made as stress free as possible by their staff! We worked with Rysa & she nailed our wedding day! Rysa, along with the rest of the staff, was very attentive to detail and wanted to do whatever they could to help!
At our first sit down in the ballroom, we fell in love with the tall ceilings and big open space, along with those windows & patio out the back!! We were given a pamphlet that had a bunch of different pricing options from food to drinks and they even included vendors in the area that they had worked with before, which was amazing! We weren’t from the area so the fact they were so helpful in that aspect was really nice too! We ended up finding our photographer & other vendors off the list, so it made it super easy.
Rysa and their staff was always very quick at responding and attending to our needs/concerns.
Perhaps one of my favorite things Shadowland does is their Mock Wedding. It takes place earlier in the year (ours was around March) and it’s an event couples who have chosen Shadowland as their venue get to attend and see what a wedding can be like at the venue. Not only that, but you get to try all the chefs food which makes it easy to choose your meals when you get to taste all the different options! They also had vendors they frequently work come in and show off what they’re about. Vendors included a DJ, a chair and table cover company, the florist that had decorated for the event was there you could talk with, they had a photo booth vendor set up, they had a wine tasting bar so you could sample what wines you’d like..etc. It was just so very helpful, informative, & helped us explore our options! More importantly it got us even more excited for the big day!
The day of our wedding we had help from the Shadowland staff getting final things into place and Rysa was there to let us know she was taking care of us and to just go have fun! Towards the end of our reception, she even coordinated ordering pizza from Silver Beach Pizza, which was the perfect way to end an open bar night! Haha. Also, don’t know how I could almost forget they have a carousel!! This was something we didn’t know we wanted, but ended up being so fun and special! We got some really good wedding party pictures on the carousel and it was great for our guests during the cocktail hour! We had so many guests come up to us saying how cool it was!
We are so very grateful we chose Shadowland on Silver Beach and we made memories there that will last a lifetime!! 100% recommend them and would do our wedding day all over again with them!!

Simply the Best!

I can't say enough good things about Shadowland and their amazing staff! From initially touring and booking my wedding date with Nicole to working with my planners Jane & Rysa throughout the year leading up to my big day, to executing everything on the day itself, the staff was the best! Shadowland is a beautiful venue for a local or destination wedding, right along the shores of Lake Michigan which makes for great photos! As a bonus, the attached carousel was a hit with guests during cocktail hour! Thank you again Shadowland team for making my wedding so memorable!

Amazing Experience - Jasmine is Great!

We just recently had our wedding reception at the Shadowland on Silver Beach and it was fantastic! The entire experience from start to finish was a great one. The original meeting with Nicole was very informational and we were provided with documents that answered all of our questions and gave vendor suggestions, which was very helpful. The mock wedding event that they hold is such a great idea and something many of our friends who are wedding planning were jealous of. We found multiple vendors at the mock wedding and were also able to meet other couples and share ideas. Our coordinator was Jasmine and she was amazing! Her energetic attitude is contagious and she made sure that every step of the way was smooth and exciting! She was very responsive and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. The venue itself is beautiful and having the ballroom and the patio is a great mix for a wedding reception. The carousel is an added bonus that we would definitely recommend, our guests loved it. Jasmine and everyone at the Shadowland helped make sure our wedding day was one that we will never forget!

Fantastic Wedding!

Shadowland put on a wonderful evening for our wedding! Jasmine did a terrific job in all of the planning/setup and kept the night moving. Shadowland was able to accomodate our meal choices even though the menu changed from when we first sampled the food. Jasmine was also able to plan the entire event remotely since we live in Arizona. She was there from the first minute to the last and helped capture our sparkler send off! Thank you Jasmine and Shadowland for a fantastic wedding!

Seamless and efficient

Shadowland was an absolute dream to work with. My husband and I opted to go untraditional and hosted a brunch wedding. The crew at shadowland didn’t miss a beat and totally ran with our ideas. They worked with us on the right customizations to go with our theme. We opted to also have ceremony onsite and it worked out so well. Guests are still raving about how great the food was and how awesome the staff was in accommodating everyone. Shadowland made a potentially stressful process less so with their experience and outside perspectives. They answer so quick and as a bride I can’t begin to describe important that communication is. I’d recommend shadowland to any couple looking for a fun, knowledgeable venue

Best wedding reception venue ever!

I cannot say enough positive things about having our wedding reception at the Shadowland Ballroom. For starters, the staff is FANTASTIC. Nicole and Jasmine made the entire planning process so easy and fun. I didn’t have a wedding planner or coordinator, so it was helpful to lean on Jasmine for questions or advice. She was organized, responsive, so sweet, and helpful. Even with my crazy type-A personality I was able to relax on my wedding day knowing Jasmine had everything covered.

We had 150 people and the ballroom was a great size for that. We used the patio for cocktail hour, and that was a hit. We had a second bar on the patio for cocktail hour as well.

The food was great; we got a lot of compliments and it was so easy to have catering through Shadowland.

The ballroom was beautiful. The only thing I didn’t love was the chairs at Shadowland, so I went with gold chiavari chairs from www.chiavarichairswedding.com and they were fantastic and really made the room look great.

I recommend using their preferred vendor list. It was so nice to have vendors who were familiar with the staff and layout. We used Ben Pancoast photography and photo booth and Music Unlimited for our DJ. They were terrific.

We rented the carousel for 1 hour and it was a HIT. Our wedding was 21+ and the adults loved it. We definitely needed the full hour for the 150 guests to get our photos done first.

We also loved the Mock Wedding shadowland throws for their confirmed couples. It was a great way to meet vendors and see the space in action.

THANK YOU Jasmine and Nicole for making sure my husband and I had a perfect wedding day. It really was the best.

Great Experience

The venue was great and our guests loved the food! Our guests loved the location and had a blast on the carousel. We worked with Jane Ulrey, she was always willing to answer any of our questions right away. The entire Shadowland staff did a great job before and during our wedding to ensure everything was what we wanted and it turned out fabulous!!

From the moment we saw Shadowland we were set on it being our venue. It is a beautiful location, we the best amenities it has to offer. The prices for the services you are getting are unbeatable! Let me break it down!

Nicole and Jane:
THEY ARE AMAZING! We live in Wisconsin, so we planned most of the wedding from afar. I communicated mostly with Jane and she literally is the best! You had a question or problem, Jane offered amazing solutions. She is quick to respond and did not make me feel like any of my questions or concerns were silly. The day before the wedding I was emailing her at 12am and she responded right away! That is dedication and makes a bride feel so special. The day of the wedding it rained and we moved it inside. She let my bridal party take over her office before the ceremony, so we could "hide". It just shows you what kind of person she is! I can rave and rave about Jane making my day go just perfect!

Food:
Was amazing! My guests raved about the food. We did the root beer short rib and Chicken with gravy. We asked the chef to serve a vegetarian item that was no longer on the menu, he did. It was hit or miss with our guests, but it makes sense why they took it off the menu. Every guest had enough to eat. Kids: they do not charge for kids under 5 which is so nice of them to do. ALSO!! The plated option is less expensive then the buffet! Which is very rare for venues! Each plate was about $22-25 per person. Kids meals were less expensive.

Drinks:
We decided to go with the medium level option for $22 a person for 5 hours. (5:45pm-10:45pm) Which was the perfect amount of time. Pours were generous and the signature drinks we chose were a hit and delicious.

Carousel: If you can budget it, it is a must!! It really added to the experience and my guests said that because of that, it is a wedding they'll never forget.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Shadowland this month, and we couldn't be happier that we chose to have it there (after an extensive search).

The ballroom is gorgeous, and looked even more beautiful as the sun set, it doesn't need many extra decorations. The patio was a big draw of our guests, as was the proximity to Lake Michigan. My husband and I took golden hour photos on the beach, and guests also enjoyed walking down to the beach throughout the evening.

The thing that raised our experience to such a high level, was working with Nicole and others; she, especially, relieved so much stress in such a busy planning time, and was always so accessible, organized and friendly. Thank you for everything! The wedding guests make the day, but having such a pretty and classy venue definitely added a special element.

could not say enough good things about Shadowland! We chose this venue for our wedding this past June and everything went spectacularly! This venue is super accommodating, extremely organized, and takes care of things so that you don't have to worry about anything on your day! Also, if you're worried about wedding food, look no further!! The food we had was actually incredible!! Multiple people told us how good it was and people assumed we had food brought in from a restaurant (we had the root beer braised short ribs, vegetarian cheese tortellini, green beans, roasted red potatoes, and roasted broccoli, carrots & cauliflower). You will not regret this amazing venue!! Also, renting out the carousel (this is an additional fee) is a must! It will make your wedding more unique than it already will be! :) Go ahead and book at Shadowland if you want a stress-free, amazing, wedding day!

Amy, Nicole and Geri gave us an absolutely amazing night. The food was so incredible too. Geri kept an eye on my mom and made sure she ate. Cannot believe that a server did so much to make our wedding stress-free. The team really made it an "easy" day for us. Five stars is not enough

Choosing the Shadowland Ballroom as the location for our ceremony and reception was by far one of the best decisions we made during the entire wedding planning process. The staff is absolutely incredible to work with. The site is gorgeous and has tons to offer. The pricing is beyond reasonable for everything they offer. The local food service they used to cater the reception was soooo yummy. We had several guests tell us it was the most beautiful fun wedding they had ever been to and that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding before. We also rented the carousel and it was a huge hit with everyone (even the adults). I would highly recommend to any future bride to choose the Shadowland. You will NOT regret it!!

Amy, the venue, the food...absolutely amazing. Amy was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and the day of. Food was incredible and we received lnothing but great compliments from guests as well. Used the carousel for an hour and was a great hit. The PERFECT venue for the perfect wedding! There was no doubt in our mind after meeting with Nicole and Amy that this was going to be our venue for the big day. We could not be happier with our decision! Our wedding planner, Amy, was a pro at making everything go off without a hitch the day of the wedding. They did a great job with the layout for both the wedding and the reception and everything looked beautiful. They were also very responsive and quick to reply when we had any questions or concerns! All in all, we were very pleased with our decision to have both our wedding and reception at the Shadowland Ballroom (and to have rented the carousel in between)!

Our wedding reception at the Shadowland Ballroom was a dream! Nicole and Amy were absolutely amazing. From the beginning stages of planning until the end, I, my husband, and both our moms wrote and called a million times with questions. Nicole and Amy always responded immediately. They were so kind, professional and easy to work with. The ballroom is bright & open and was the perfect space for our 200 guests. I also can't praise the food enough. A month after our wedding, guests are still complimenting us on the appetizers and main courses catered by Shadowland. We had our cake made and delivered by Bit of Swiss Bakery. It was also delicious. And we used an outside vendor for our chairs because I very badly wanted chiavari chairs. We spent a lot of time on the details of our reception. Together, everything looked great and the evening flowed extremely well. We have nothing but beautiful memories of our experience at Shadowland and will cherish them forever ♡

Our wedding at Shadowland far surpasses expectations! We came in with a firm idea of an elegant beach affair and we even had our own menu devised with specific needs and wants for our food and beverage service. Not only did they comply with our vision, they added their own suggestions and flair, pulled vendors in to create the ice sculpture that doubled as a seafood serving station centerpiece and shrimp tray and their chef knocked our socks off and left the guests buzzing! I can't say enough good things about this experience with Shadowland. They handled everything from custom wines, signature cocktails, dressing up the space they way we wanted, worked well with all our vendors and they're just plain good people and a joy to work with. Shadowland on Silver Beach is a beautiful venue with a great team to help you bring your wedding vision to life! The food/beverages are wonderful and the staff was more than accommodating when it came to having time to set the venue up the day of the wedding. Our guests loved the location and everyone agreed the outdoor patio area was a hit.

Our reception was absolutely beautiful, and the food provided tasted great! The staff at shadowland was always so helpful in planning a wedding across the country. Our wedding day at Shadowland was simply perfect! Nicole, the executive director, and Amy, the wedding event manager, are wonderful to work with – a very pleasant experience! They are friendly, accommodating, and quick to respond to questions. They offered many customizable options and made sure everything was how we wanted it to be. The space is special in that it has a wall of windows and a vaulted ceiling, both of which elevate the look of everything. We held our wedding ceremony at Shadowland with the aisle setup facing the Sunset Room, and it was gorgeous! The room was quickly switched over during our Cocktail Hour (rented the Silver Beach Carousel- super fun!) and transformed for our reception. Dinner was delicious- many guests told my groom and I how much they enjoyed the food! Desserts done by The Bistro (affiliated with Shadowland) were also a big hit. Our entire day went off without a hitch, and the long planning process was made all the easier by Amy’s friendly and professional demeanor as she communicated with me and my mom through email and phone. Also, Shadowland’s “Mock Wedding” event for couples who’ve booked is not to be missed! It was an awesome evening of trying all the entrees, seeing the space set up for a reception, riding the Silver Beach Carousel, and meeting other couples going through the planning process. All in all this is a great place; I’m so glad we found it because it was much more “us” than other places we’d looked at. We highly recommend Shadowland!

Shadowland was the perfect place to have a wedding! My husband and I are super pleased with our wedding. It was a dream come true. Shadowland from the very beginning was super helpful. They gave us a walk through of the venue and answered all of my crazy questions. After we booked with them, they were great about staying in contact with us and helping us with the wedding planning process. Any questions I had were always answered super fast! Shadowland also had a mock wedding so we could see the ballroom with the tables and chairs, view other venders, and try ALL of their food. We were stuffed afterward, but most places will not do a buffet style to try all the food on the menu. Simply amazing! All of our guests were pleased with the food and the location. Many families made weekend trip out of the wedding because the beach is so close. We never had any problems through the planning process. They were accommodating when we had guests cancel last minute and let us pay a day or two after the due date. We are SOO happy we chose Shadowland!!!!!!!! I would defiantly suggest having your wedding that this beautiful venue!

My husband and I just had our wedding on May 21st, we could not have asked for a better wedding venue experience than the service that Shadowland provided!
Amy, who we worked with, was very professional and friendly during the whole planning process, she was extremely flexible in meeting with us on weekends (we don’t live locally), and she was very responsive to all our e-mails and questions timely.
The food from Shadowland was very delicious, all our guests enjoyed and made biggest compliments on the food.
We are very happy with their awesome service/excellent work and really appreciate it!

The Shadowland was an absolute dream venue for our wedding reception! The setting right on Lake Michigan was perfect and allowed us to have a beach-like feel without being outdoors. The Carousel was so unique and way more fun than I would have even imagined. We received so many compliments from our guests about the evening. What I was most grateful for and impressed by is how the staff truly went out of their way to help make the evening as special as it could possibly be. I heard from other brides that their venues were making it very hard on them to have the night they envisioned, while the Shadowland staff was going above and beyond to answer my question and accommodate my requests. I wouldn't trade my experience with Shadowland for anything and highly, highly recommend it!

The ease at which this place is ran is astonishing. The six years & hundreds of brides worth of experience executive director Nicole Beltz has from running Shadowland shows immediately in the first meeting. She is incredibly knowledgable, & has the exact calming presence a bride or groom-to-be needs.
Amy Parnell, wedding event manager, was at my side every step of the way. Any question I came up with, rather it was every-so-often or 3 emails in one day, she promptly catered to my every need. Amy was always an email or phone call away & she personally oversaw the entire evening, assuring it would be as perfect as it could possibly be.
The bartenders were quick and social, and were never caught without a smile, and the wait staff was just as speedy & kind. It truly did feel like the most well-oiled wedding I've ever experienced.
Jim Pruiett, building manager, conducted the room change between ceremony & reception hastily & flawlessly. Anything we needed from the Ballroom, such as an easel for my seating chart or a last minute table, Jim responded immediately & always delivered better than what I had asked for.

If I could relive my special day 100x's I would, & every time it would be at Shadowland Ballroom; I could not have asked for anything better.

This is such a unique venue! The outside is just as beautiful as the ballroom. It's very reasonably priced for what you receive with the packages compared to other venues in the area. The serving staff and bartenders were so nice to our guests during the reception. The food is all delicious and their signature sangria was a favorite with our party. Having our reception at this venue was one of the best decisions we could have made as our guests still talk about their amazing experience. We did have a few minor communication errors but the Shadowland staff made every effort to solve our concerns. They are very professional and kind people who truly want you to have the best experience possible.

Chris and I loved Shadowland Ballroom and all the staff there! St. Joseph, MI was our first thought when it came to choosing a venue since most of my extended family lives in Michigan and Chris's family is in Illinois (so are we). Shadowland was the first and only venue we visited and we were excited immediately! They had our date open which was most important (we got married on our 10th year anniversary) and they were super affordable versus the Chicagoland area. Since I work in the wedding industry I knew cost was going to be a huge factor but Shadowland was an amazing venue for a great price. All the staff we worked with including Nicole, Amy, and Mandy were so helpful and made all of our decisions easy. They were extremely flexible which was a must for us being an out-of-state couple. They day of the wedding went smoothly and couldn't have been more perfect! We had chose to have our ceremony at a pavilion on the beach and the weather was perfect for our September wedding. The Ballroom looked amazing and all of our guests loved the space! We got so many complements! Chris and I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding and location. We greatly appreciate all the help from everyone at Shadowland Ballroom and would highly recommend them to anyone!

As a same sex couple, my husband and I were very careful about where we wanted to celebrate our special day. We knew we wanted a beach wedding on Lake Michigan. Shadowlands was the perfect location. It was steps away from Silver Beach and provided the excellent boardwalk / beach theme to our reception. The food was amazing. We had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin with whiskey bbq salmon. They were very welcoming and excited to have their first gay wedding (guys) at their location. While they had already done a few same sex female weddings, we were the first guys. We could not have been more pleased with the hospitality and service from our booking in October to their outstanding Mock Wedding Reception event in March leading up to our big day in August. Anytime we had a question or concern they were only a phone call away or email. They always quickly responded to email. A few times we even stopped by (we live two hrs away but loved the area) and they were always happy to answer any questions we had or to review our plans. They always made us feel we were welcome. Venue was amazing. We did the rental of the carousel and used many of their preferred vendors. This made the planning easy and worry free. From start to finish it was amazing. Thank you so much Amy, Nicole, Jen, Cheyene and the rest of the team!

We could have not asked for a better place to have help our wedding reception. We wanted a beach wedding but did not trust to brave the Michigan ever changing weather and this was the next best thing! We were close enough to the beach that we were able to get amazing pictures and our guests were able to enjoy it as well! The staff was beyond amazing and everything ran smoothly. We had many comments from guests and vendors of how organized everything was. The food did not disappoint. If we had to choose all over again, we would quickly choose Shadowland Ballrooms.

I cannot say enough positive things about the Shadowland Ballroom and the staff that helped me celebrate my big day. Everything from the ballroom, to the food, and the service was amazing. My husband and I worked both with Nicole and Amy in preparation for our big day and they made decision making such a breeze and were always quick to respond to any questions we had. Shadowland on Silver Beach is amazing place to have an event. The staff is professional and soon friendly. The food was fabulous!!! All of the guests commented on how great is was, fresh, hot and delicious. They have a pastry chef on property. We had the Macaroons!!! SOOOO Good. I highly recommend. It's been nearly four weeks after my wedding reception at Shadowland and my guests are still telling everyone in both of our families how beautiful the reception was! My husband and I have zero regrets with our decision. It's always a win - win scenario; Shadowland is directly on the beach but still a fully indoor venue. Our food selection was exquisite with a mixed plate of beef filet and chicken Marsala with vegetables, it was all cooked perfectly and large portions. My guests were impressed with how hot everyone's food was because they served 200 people at our wedding and all plates were consistently prepared well. Amy Parnell and Nicole Beltz were extremely easy to work with, paid attention to detail, and were very open to customizing any needs. My Foreign relatives were also very impressed that they went above and beyond and spelled the cocktail drink correctly with accurate language dictation on the sign. Choosing Shadowland as your wedding reception venue is the easiest decision a bride has to make!

There aren't enough words to describe just how wonderful our wedding was at Shadowland! I was living in California while planning our wedding and I didn't get to see Shadowland in person before booking it, but after talking with the team and seeing pictures, I knew this was the place for us! Planning a wedding 3,000 miles away could be challenging, but Amy made it an absolute breeze. We had our wedding reception on Friday, June 17th and it was unforgettable!! All staff were very responsive and helpful. We had buffet and the food was AMAZING!! We heard several compliments, specially on the pasta, chicken and shrimp. The bartenders were fast and very professional, there was NO line for a second, the peach sangria was delicious, it was the drink everybody kept going back for.
Amy, the event manager, was very helpful, since there was no event the day before, she was able to set up the place on the day before and I was able to go and do some final touch and rearrangements needed.
When we first bood, Cheyenne Galbraith, was the events manager, and now she is the food and beverage director, I have to say that it was a GREAT change. When we had the food tasting, was still the previous chef and the food was ok, but with Cheyenne, the food was UNBELIAVAVLE!! Great work!!
I certainly recommend this event for any type of event

They even recommended our DJ to us, who ended up being fantastic too! Cheyenne, Amy, Jim, Nicole, and everyone else at Shadowland were truly wonderful in helping bring my vision of my wedding into reality.

We chose to have both our ceremony and reception at Shadowland. From the start, Cheyenne was prompt in responding to my never ending questions; which started more than a year in advance! She was incredibly helpful in creating at timeline for the day that would ensure things ran smoothly. Not to mention accommodating all of the changes that came about with planning a wedding over the course of a year. Amy and Jim were invaluable on the day prior and day of in helping to solve last minute problems and changes.

The professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff was refreshing and so much appreciated on a day when any little thing can seem like the end of the world. In fact, the only small issue we had the day of was with seating due to some last minute changes to the guest list, and the resolved the problem so quickly and easily that I didn't even know about it until two days after the wedding!

I would recommend Shadowland to everyone. The food was delicious, the alcohol selection spot-on, the venue itself is gorgeous, and the overall feeling from everyone at Shadowland included in our day was that they were just as invested and dedicated to making it special as we were.

A Wedding Knot to Be Forgotten!

Where can we start in complementing Shadowland for making our day so special! First, Cheyenne was more than helpful and made things so easy for us to plan our wedding. She returned our emails very promptly, was easy to set up appointments at SL, and always put us at ease, including my mother! Shadowland allows a lot of flexibility when it comes to decorating, but of course the team can provide lots of ideas if needed. The food was amazing and we loved the idea of the “Mock Wedding” so we could try a majority of the entrees offered. We had Cobia (who knew this fish was so tasty!), beef filet, chicken picatta, and vegetarian lasagna…would choose them all again! In addition, we could experience what a wedding is like at Shadowland by attending the Mock Wedding ahead of time, especially since we live in Philadelphia now and have never attended a wedding at SL before this. Another big hit and surprise of the night was renting out the carousel. Our guests are still talking about this, and how it’ll be pretty hard to top this cocktail hour off! In addition, the beautiful scenery of Silver Beach is great for pictures! We can’t say enough good things about Shadowland and am so glad we chose this location for our special day. Thank you!

The Shadowland Ballroom was an absolute perfect location for my wedding! We wanted to be near lake Michigan & a beachy area! Besides the gorgeous surroundings of the city of St. Joseph & Lake Michigan Shadowland has the most wonderful staff to work with & the price is not too bad either! I would recommend Shadowland to anyone having a wedding that lives near by or farther away. Everything about our wedding reception at shadowland was perfect! Nicole and Cheyenne were both professional, friendly and easily accessible from the beginning! Anytime we had any questions we were able to easily reach Nicole or Cheyenne by phone or email. We even dropped in one day without an appt and Cheyenne took time out of her day to review additional details and questions with us! They went above and beyond to make our special day perfect! I couldn't have asked for anything better! They also have a great list of local vendors if you aren't from the area. I've had numerous guests compliment the food, service and venue! We had signature drinks that were passed during cocktail hour along with butler passed hor d'oeuvres which everyone loved. Cheyenne also was able to get a keg of my husband's favorite craft beer to be served at the reception which also made things personal! Dinner was served on time and at the right temperature and so many people have raved about the food. We both would definitely recommend Shadowland Ballroom to anyone looking for a reception/event venue!

The wedding reception site was at The Shadowland Ballroom or as I like to call it “The 2nd Disney” because it is a place where dreams really do come true! Honestly, there were only 3 things that I really cared about as a bride: The reception venue, the liquor choices, and the DJ. Shadowland was an absolute perfect venue for these reasons. From the water cannons right outside the patio windows, to the carousel, everything was extremely beautiful. The reason this day was such a success was because of Cheyenne. From Day 1 she was extremely helpful and always had an efficient response time to emails and/or phone calls. When I hesitantly asked her if they could provide a specific type of rum and whiskey (not thinking that they could and that we would be stuck with Captain and Jack), she without hesitation said “No Problem!” My immediate reaction was shock followed by extreme excitement. When I told her what we would like our Bride and Groom specialty drinks to be, I was shocked when she said that they could make Mojito’s (with fresh mint!) and Sweet Carolina Sweet Tea Vodka and lemonade. All in all, they were almost overly accommodating. I thought for sure they would deny one of my requests, but that did not happen. They truly made this day even more perfect than we ever could have imagined and for that we say thank you!

The staff at shadowland and the beautiful ballroom were exceptional. The food was wonderful and every person who attended truly enjoyed it. My daughter, who was the bride, felt everything was perfect. All staff were helpful and very responsive from the moment we met them. I have never had a better experience planning a big event. This was an amazing day for all of us. It was a venue we will never forget!

My wedding was June 19th, 2015 and it was the absolute perfect day. The entire Shadowland staff was incredible to work with. From the moment I was interested in the venue, I got all of my questions answered immediately. Every single person involved bent over backwards to make sure our wedding was spectacular. We also rented the carousel for 45 minutes just for our guests, and I highly recommend it. It was so special and fun for both the kids and adults. We also rented out the curious kids museum during the ceremony, and brought in our own babysitters. The parents were relieved to be able to watch and enjoy the ceremony, without worrying about their little ones. The food was spectacular, and guests were raving that it was the best meal they have ever had. We also got to pick out two signature drinks that were brought out on trays the moment the ceremony ended. Amy, our day of wedding staff member, catered to everyone's needs and was there the whole time to make sure everything ran smoothly. Everyone is incredibly organized and helpful and wonderful!!! This is the perfect venue if you want the perfect wedding!!!

My husband and I recently were married on June 26th, 2015. We both live in Lafayette, Indiana and knew we wanted to have a destination, beach wedding that wasn't too far for our friends and families to attend.

From the moment we started looking around the St, Joseph area, we knew we wanted to get married there. We just needed to find the perfect reception venue!

After a day of barns, ballrooms and a reception venue that shared a restroom with a nursing home, we fell in love with the Shadowland Ballroom! It was such a relief to walk into such a beautiful venue. I instantly envisioned myself sipping champagne, in my ivory gown, toasting my loved ones and new husband. The search was over!

From the moment the planning process began, Nicole and Cheyenne were there to put me at ease. If I was overwhelmed and needed answers quick, they never let me down.

As the wedding week arrived, I had many last minute changes to make and questions to be answered. They never made me feel like I was a burden.

When the wedding day arrived, and I walked into the ballroom, I knew I would never forget the way I felt. They made sure all of the special touches were taken care of. They truly made sure my special day was perfect!

Any bride who is considering the Shadowland Ballroom, I wholeheartedly recommend this venue. You will not regret having your reception at this extraordinary ballroom.

Perfection is a very strong word to use when describing any given situation, however, Shadowland Ballroom and the staff behind it all deserve nothing less of this description. The entire process and experience from day one was a dream come true. Nicole, Cheyenne and the rest of the team are the greatest group of people anyone could ask for to handle one of the most important days of a couples live. We prompted to have both the ceremony and the reception in the ballroom and it was the best experience of our lives. The professionalism and dedication of every employee, whether it'd be the waitstaff, bartenders or anyone in-between, was extraordinary! Our families are still talking of our night being the best ceremony and reception they've ever attended and this fact we can confidently say is all thanks to the team at Shadowland Ballroom. It truly was a perfect night and experience. Looking back after all was said and done, we both agree that Shadowland allowed us to happily embrace the entire wedding process instead of drudging our way through it. We would recommend no other team and venue other than Shadowland for everyone's special day!

I'm struggling to find the words to do the folks at Shadowland justice. They were amazing! They made everything so easy for us all the way through from the first look at the venue to the big day itself. The ballroom was gorgeous, the food was fantastic and my husband wants to give a shout out to the bartenders for keeping his glass full all night! We would highly recommend Shadowland to anyone getting married or needing an event space in St. Joe. You guys rock!

This is a beautiful venue with lots of possibility for ease of set up! We had both the ceremony and the reception there, and it was an easy transition between them. The food was awesome. We have been to other weddings where the buffet food was just ok but Shadowland is amazing. Everyone complimented us on it. People also loved the signature drinks! Also, we rented the carousel across from the venue and then had tokens for our guests to ride the carousel and that was a huge hit and definitely set our wedding apart with something special and unique.

We LOVED working with Shadowland. Cheyenne is absolutely amazing and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure your wedding reception goes exactly according to plan. She was extremely flexible and accommodating to our guests' special dietary needs and was even willing to switch up a few menu choices two days before the event for a family member who had severe allergies. They took care of everything and absolutely made our wedding a memorable event.

TIP: If you are interested, book Shadowland EARLY! They fill up quickly and are typically booked every Friday and Saturday from April-October. Trust me- they're popular for a reason :)

From the time my fiance and I decided to marry on Silver Beach in Saint Joseph, Shadowland was on my very short list of venues to check out. I made the trip from Chicago about a year before our wedding to see three venues, and Shadowland was a clear winner. Close to the beach and incredibly spacious, it offered close proximity to downtown and the beautiful carousel for our younger guests. I began to understand over the next year of planning what an absolutely perfect decision picking Shadowland as our reception venue would turn out to be. Working with Nicole and Cheyenne was an absolute dream, and their gracious professionalism calmed me in my most stressed moments. They became so close and dear to me through the whole process, that I don't know what I would have done without their help. They executed every detail of our reception flawlessly, and I was told by every single guest what an amazing time they had, how friendly and accommodating the servers and bartenders were, and how gorgeous the space was. The chef and the food were incredible, and they were even able to make a dairy free meal for one of my guests the day of the wedding. Renting the carousel, which I thought would be a hit with the children under 12, became a highlight of the wedding, and guests ages 2 to 91 all rode! If you're looking for a breathtaking space, delicious food, a great space for kids, and absolutely impeccable service, please look no further than Shadowland. I will always be grateful for the huge role they played in what will always be the best party we ever threw!

Shadowland Ballroom was the perfect venue!! There is no better venue on the water in the area. We had guests from all over including Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo and they loved spending time in St Joe for the weekend after the wedding. Amy and Nicole answered all our questions very quickly and efficiently. Amy was present the day of and went above ran beyond for her job. We had a slideshow and also decided last minute to have our unity candle at the reception location.... no perfect. everything went flawless. Food is awesome! Loved the mock wedding were we tried all the food. Cake was perfect. Guests are still raving about our champagne. Open bar was reasonable price!! Very organized, friendly, and helpful for such a busy time!! Thanks again!!

As a bride with a busy job and not a lot of time to spend planning a wedding, I was thrilled we went with Shadowland. They were responsive from the start with our inquiry and answered questions promptly throughout the planning process. During our meetings Cheyenne had choices set up so I was able to see what I was picking. They even got my favorite beer and found my dad’s favorite whiskey to add to our bar. I found the mock wedding tasting, that they host, extremely helpful (it’s such a fun night, you have to go!), we picked all of our food and wine that evening. St. Joseph is a popular place for a destination wedding, we found that not everyone gives the same customer experience when we were looking. I highly recommend using their preferred vendor list. We found our photographer that way and loved her! The space is beautiful, people didn’t wait at the bar long for a drink, parking is on site, and most of our guests were able to book hotels in walking distance. The best part was hearing people talk about the food weeks later, they LOVED it! When does that ever happen? We had such a great experience with Shadowland, and highly recommend them to anyone!

Excellent Staff and Beautiful Venue

From start to finish, our wedding at Shadowland on Silver Beach was wonderful.
Nicole worked with us at the beginning stages of planning and her attention to detail and customer-focused approach makes you feel like you are the only person in the world who is getting married.
We were blessed to work with Jasmine as our wedding coordinator and she was amazing. Jasmine was extremely timely in her responses (even when she was on vacation), supportive, and excited to help the bride with their vision. Even on the day of the wedding, Jasmine remained professional, calm, and accommodating.
In addition, we are still receiving compliments on how delicious and well prepared the food was during the reception. Kudos to the chef!

Overall a great experience.

Our wedding planner Rysa Clark was amazing, she would answer all my questions and she got back to me very quickly. Our guests enjoyed their dinner (duet plate-steak and chicken) . Two of our kegs went out during our reception, and they don't tap new ones. That was our only complaint. Overall it was a great experience and i wish i could relive the day!

When it was time for us to choose our venue, my fiancé and I knew we wanted a place that ideally was near the beach, would hold a larger number of guests, and be temperature controlled. Shadowland was the perfect spot. Our guests loved the ability to walk to the beach for sunset, sip a cocktail on the patio, and ride the carousel. Nicole, Amy, and Cheyenne were all a dream to work with. They operate like a well oiled machine, were incredibly accommodating, and always available to field our questions. On the day of the wedding, Amy was present to receive our vendors, coordinate with our DJ, photographer, and videographer to ensure that the timeline ran smoothly. Amy was very professional and worked with us with our seating plan, food, and beverage packages. We were able to accommodate all dietary restrictions and food preferences without any trouble. We heard from our guests that the food was great and they had so much fun! She handled placing and picking up our late-night pizza order from Silver Beach pizza --which was quite a hit from our guests. I would recommend this venue wholeheartedly to the bride that plans ahead. For very obvious reasons, this venue tends to book up quickly!

Shadowland Ballroom met all of our reception needs from professionalism of it's employees(who I must say were a breeze to work with and made planning our reception from states away much easier) to a large capacity, great food, dance floor(original is there), beach locale, cleanliness, decent bathrooms, etc. It was a little pricey but worth the spend!! The facility speaks for itself in its beautiful, clean space with lots of options to make your day your own! Having the option of the carousel plus the fountain across the street makes it extra special with those different things to incorporate into your day. We are extremely happy we made the choice to hold our reception at Shadowland and look forward to going back and reminiscing about our special day!

Wedding 2019

We got married this last month and absolutely loved this venue!! Everything was amazing!! Set up ran smoothly and everyone was very intent on getting back to me about anything within a timely manner. Although there were some hiccups and miscommunications here and there, it was overall a very good experience. Highly recommended.

Amy and Nicole were amazing! Amy was promptly responsive to my many emails. My wedding night was beautiful. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. All my guests loved the venue. I hated when we had to leave, I didn't want the night to end.

We just had our reception here in early June and our wedding was amazing! The Shadowland is in such a great location in a beautiful town and all of our guests found a new vacation spot! This place books fast though so make sure if you are interested, you get on it right away. Nicole does a great job of walking you through the venue and going over all of what Shadowland offers in your initial meeting. From there, Cheyenne/Amy were awesome in communicating with us every step of the way to make sure the wedding was everything we wanted. We felt like we were in great hands every step of the way. The only reason I gave 4 stars in some areas is because of things included with the package. Options were limited for linen color combos and chairs, so we had to go to outside vendors to supply our linens and chairs for the wedding since our colors were not an option. Any add on things are an additional cost (up lighting, monogram)so just be wary of that. Overall the venue is amazing, the help is great, and everything turned out beautiful.

My husband and I recently had our wedding reception at Shadowland Ballroom, and we could not be happier with our day! Amy worked with us to make sure that every detail was considered from multiple iterations of room layouts to ensuring that our sweets table was continuously stocked. She walked us through the time line for the evening and assisted in making sure that everyone was enjoying themselves. We rented the carousel, which was just as much fun for the kids as it was for the adults honestly! Great pictures! We had several meal options - bacon wrapped pork, chimichurri chicken, and vegetable lasagna - all of them had our guests raving!! It was nice to offer chicken tenders and fries for the kiddos too! They truly cater the evening to what you would like it to be from providing custom signature cocktails to adding your pictures on the kaliedoscope. There was luckily not an event the day before, so we were able to enter the room early and set up, which was perfect! Jim, who is responsible for setting up the furniture and general up-keep of the room, is very friendly and helpful. We would not have gotten all of our decor hung without him!! I highly recommend Shadowland to anyone who is looking for a fun and beachy atmosphere!

We had our wedding reception at Shadowland and it was wonderful. The location was great, the food was great, and the people were awesome to work with. Our guests really felt like it was a "vacation" wedding because the beach was right down the road. The only issue I had was that we didn't receive all items that were only the menu (the beef brisket was missing from the BBQ buffet) and that the venue used paper plates for the appetizers we brought. I would double check the menu and request real plates if you were to go with them. However, if those were the only two things that didn't go so smoothly, I would say it went pretty well overall and would definitely recommend this venue to everyone.

I am writing this review as the mother of the bride. We all were extremely pleased with our reception at Shadowland. Everyone we dwelt with was very helpful and accommodating to our wants and needs. Cheyenne even came in on New Year's Day so we could set up the day before the wedding. The staff who worked our event was courteous and helpful. We were pleased with the quality and taste of the food, and the venue itself is beautiful. We were very happy with our experience at Shadowland and would use the facility again.

My husband & I had our reception at the Shadowland Ballroom and it was nothing less than a dream come true! All of the guests we talked with had an amazing time dancing, riding the carousel, and thought the food was the best wedding food they ever had. We even had a buffet! The only reason I am giving it a 4/5 stars is because they don't have reserved parking for wedding guests. Since we got married during the beginning of August, that is a very fun, but busy time for St.Joseph, MI. Overall it was the best day of our lives, and will be remembered by many of our guests that had a great time!

Future brides -- This was a great place to have a wedding reception. Cheyenne was awesome to work with and is an expert in her field! She was truly helpful with accommodating to our needs and helping us get things we wanted for our special day. If Cheyenne ever leaves Shadowland will not be the same.

This venue is expensive and they do not allow you to bring in your own alcohol/catering which makes them pricey. However, anything with the word wedding in it = $$$$$.

We had 25 less people below the minimum requirement. Shadowland worked with us so we took the 25 extra meals and use them as late night snacks. This worked out perfectly for us as we didn’t feel like we paid for meals that nobody ate. And, everyone raved about the late night chicken nuggets bar.

Our crazy friends offered to drive our favorite cake from Chicago to St. Joseph. They weren’t going to arrive on Friday until after Shadowland was closed but Cheyenne arranged to have one of the staff members meet our friends so they could drop off the cake to be put in their refrigerator. That was above and beyond and we really appreciated the gesture.

We opted for the Michigan Beer & Wines package. We had a few Michigan favorites which weren’t listed as options. We asked Cheyenne if it would be possible to have those for our wedding and she didn’t hesitate to say yes. We were happy that we had exactly what we wanted.

Nobody was occupying the ballroom the night before and Cheyenne offered to let us drop stuff off in the ballroom the day before. Very helpful!

We highly recommend renting the house next to Shadowland. It was great for so many reasons. We loaded all of the wedding stuff into the garage. And, we used the studio as a workshop to finish up last minute details. The girls got ready in the house and the boys got ready in the studio above the garage. My husband and I originally had a reservation at the Boulevard for our wedding night but once we arrived at the house we decided to save the money and just stay in the studio above the garage. It was also nice to be able to walk everything right next door to the garage after the reception.

We rented the carousel for a half hour. It was a highlight of our wedding and our guests are still talking about what a good time they had. The pictures are priceless!

Overall, Shadowland was affordable for us and was a great location for our reception.

Nice Venue, Good location.

They have some requirements that are not clearly stated and outlined when you sign the contract. The food and beverage prices are outlandish if you use their preferred caterer. If you choose a different caterer, it seemed that they didn't try as hard to communicate and make sure all of their own requirements were fulfilled. It would have cost us three times our budget to have an open bar available.

Event Coordinator was very flexible when it came to meeting with her. She sat down with us in the middle of setting up an event more than one time.

Overall, not the easiest place to deal with if you're a bride on a budget!
