Matthew and his team were wonderful. We hired Secret Fire Media for video and photo and we are so happy we did. Matthew was so patient and helpful through out our engagement pictures and wedding day. We're so Happy!

We hired Secret Fire Media for Video + Photo this year. We originally did not think we'd be able to include Photo and Video into our budget but Mat was able to work with us to figure out a package that fit what we were looking for. We just received our photos and wedding video this week and I can't stop checking them out! Any other couples who are on the fence about video, hire Mat, you won't regret it!

Amazing Quality and Service

We were initially on the fence about videography, but we are so glad we did, and it was one of the best decisions we made to go with Secret Fire Media. Gorgeous!!!!

Secret Fire Media was amazing! The morning of the wedding i was a bundle of nerves. (A issue with my dress didn't help) Matt was able to keep things on track throughout the whole day and gave us amazing direction during the formal photos and blended into the background during the reception. Also the photos, THEY WERE GORGOUS!

Would Choose Again A Thousand Times Over!

We used Secret Fire Media for our wedding and would highly recommend them to anyone a thousand times over! Matt and Ryan were extremely courteous, patient, and professional, but were also super fun and comfortable to work with! They are a fantastic team who worked effortlessly to help make our wedding a dream come true! Matt sent over "sneak peak" photos within a few days of our wedding and they turned out beautifully! A Wonderful Experience

Matt was awesome to work with! I hate to be the center of attention, which is hard to avoid on your wedding day. Most of the time I didn't even realize Matt was in the room. He organically videoed our wedding which put us completely at ease. We ended up having to split our wedding into two parts. We had a small ceremony on our original date and moved the reception to the following year. Matt made the process to split the day seamless. He videoed both the ceremony and the reception and is combining the two dates into one video and highlight reel! He was such a pleasure to work with and I would recommend him for any event!

A Great Vendor to Hire!

Book Matt!!

We hired Matt to be our videographer for our big day. From start to finish, Matt was so responsive and sweet. Any questions I had, he got back to me quickly and assured me everything would go smoothly. Amazing Video!

Matt was our videographer for our wedding and he did an amazing job. He was so good with answering all our questions leading up to the day and so professional through the entire processes. Matt sent all of our videos to us before the promised date and the end result was AMAZING. He really has a good eye for what will look good. One thing I will say is that most of the footage Matt got was right up in the action, but I don't even remember him taking those shots! This to me was the most impressive part of Matt's talent. He was really able to capture everything organically, rather than trying to direct and dictate the shot.

Such a great videography crew! We barely noticed them there but they caught the entire wedding on film and we can't wait to see the wedding video as soon as it is ready! Highly recommended and very good services for the cost.

Matthew was our lead photographer, Theresa was the second photographer, and Michael was the videographer for our wedding. They all did a fabulous job! Matthew was very flexible during the wedding-planning process. I had very specific requests, and he was very accommodating with this. On the wedding day, Matthew, Theresa, and Michael arrived right on time and were very professional, kind, and patient. We did the First Look as well as a very large number of family/wedding party photos before the ceremony, and they were so well organized that we completed all the photos early! A lot of guests complimented Secret Fire Media on how organized they were with this large number of photos. During the wedding, Matthew, Theresa, and Michael stayed in the background, but they were everywhere! They didn’t miss any photo or video opportunities! I highly recommend Secret Fire Media. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and affordable. (I will be updating/adding to this review once I receive the photos and video, but I am confident that they will turn out very well.)

The owner Matthew is truly amazing. Everything he and his partner said they would do they did. They were very punctual and stayed in the back capturing every important moment of our big day. I was tossing around having a videographer but I am more than happy we got one because the day flew so quickly for me from the time I woke up until it was over and I can hardly remember it! From start to finish, Matt was absolutely wonderful to work with for our wedding! My husband and I got married in Cornwall, NY even though we lived at the time about 3 hours upstate. Even from the first initial meeting to set up the contract, Matt was very accommodating to meet in a completely different town to make it easier on us and our traveling. From then on out we were able to communicate via email and telephone, and I never had any concerns with response time at all. As an artist myself, I felt completely comfortable after meeting and talking with Matt to give him the reigns on making the artistic decisions on the big day, so that I didn't have to worry about it. Matt's photo journalist style and ability to capture many fantastic candid moments throughout the day as well as his creativity in the photo session were just what we needed and wanted! Any stumbling blocks were handled with complete professionalism, any accommodations or requests I had were met with enthusiasm, and the overall product came out absolutely beautifully.

Secret Fire is definitely a lot of quality for a price that wont destroy your wedding budget.

I hired Secret Fire Media to do the Videography at my wedding on February 27 2016. From the moment I booked with Secret and met with Matthew I knew I made the right choice. Without hesitation any question,concern and thought I had Matthew was there a email or call away. His quick response, professionalism,kindness and overall person Matt is is beyond any expectation of a wedding vendor. I had researched videographers for a while and many were way beyond my budget and I could r justify spending 10,000 on a wedding video. Finally I came across as secret fire whor quality of work mirrored other companies who charged thousands more. I know I found the right vendor.The day of my wedding I couldn't of asked for more from Matt and his crew. Start to finish they documented the most special day of my life - through all the madness ! The best part of everything was how quick I received my highlight video ! It was published literally a few days after ! I got to share all the key moments set to a beautiful song seamlessly put together in a movie like highlight reel. My actual video arrived in equally short time and I couldn't have been happier with the final product. I cannot thank Mattthew and secret fire enough for making my day so special. The quality and value of their work is worth 10x what I paid and I would do it all over again !

Matt did a great job with our wedding video this past October. We communicated a few times over the phone as to what we were looking for and he took it from there. This was a same sex wedding and Matt was very comfortable and fun to work with. The finished product arrived when promised and it was great that it was broken down into sections on the DVD. Makes it much easier to find a particular moment when showing to people. Also the rough footage was great just to really see the whole day. Secret Fire's pricing was very fair and a great value!

Andrew and I were married on May 16th 2015 at the Amber room in danbury CT. Working with Matt and Kelsey was awesome. You never knew they were there, but also had the same time captured all the video we needed. We just received our videos and watched them right away. We laughed and cried. Andrew and I went back and forth whether we wanted a videography but once we found secret fire media and talked over with Matthew we knew he was the perfect fit. His prices were very reasonable. Watching the video we saw stuff that we couldn't remember or where we were or even brought back such great memories... Five Star Video Service! With all the expenses of a wedding, we almost skipped the video option. I am so glad that we decided to add the service only months before the wedding. Matthew Thela answered my list of questions. He was the BEST price out there and provided a professional, first rate quality video. He was on time, courteous to other vendors and guests and captured some amazing moments. He traveled to Albany for our daughter's wedding. Matt is wonderful - his work is great, and his prices are a steal. We looked at a few videographers, and for the quality of his work and what he offers, you really can't beat Secret Fire! My friend went with a company that heavily promotes at the NYC Metro wedding expos, and I wasn't half as impressed with them as I was with Matt's work. He also doesn't hard sell, which I think anyone would appreciate. He is very friendly and professional, and flexible too! He even arranged to meet me in NYC to sign the contract, which was super convenient. I'm so happy he's doing our wedding!

I need some more stars to give to Matt and Secret Fire Media!! I could not have been more pleased with Matt Thela from Secret Fire Media. Although I have yet to see the footage (and will update the review once it comes in), his professionalism and talent for capturing moments is utterly impressive. So many times during the night I would think “I hope this gets captured on--” and my thought would be interrupted because there he was. He was unobtrusive and ever present. He even stayed until the end of the night, which was impressive! He is so kind and sweet - I am really honored that he was a part of our special day. I wish him all the best success in his business, because he really is capturing joy, and you can’t put a price on that (but his pricing is so so reasonable!) Secret Fire media was a life saver for us. After unexpectedly finding ourselves without a photographer only two weeks before the wedding, not only was Matthew able to accommodate us, he did a fantastic job photographing our daughter's wedding this past August. He was very professional, efficient, responded promptly to all our questions and concerns and was very easy to work with. His rates are extremely affordable and his work is exceptional. He spent ten hours with us on the wedding day right through the end of the reception and was able to capture every special moment while being hardly noticeable during the festivities! On our wedding day, we had Matt and Tyler. They both were very kind, professional, and inconspicuous. Not once did we have to think twice about what they were doing. As far as the video itself, AMAZING. The quality was fantastic, and they were able to catch all of our special moments, the grand ones and the subtle once. Absolutely loved having the two videographers because they were able to capture so many different perspectives throughout the entire day. Highly recommend having the two because they blended everything so nicely. The highlight video was perfect too, really showing the essence of the entire day. We show the video to our family all the time, and we've receive so many compliments of how wonderful it is. Endless thanks to Matt and Secret Fire Media!!

We recently used Secret Fire Media to film our Hudson Valley wedding. My husband and I went back and forth on whether or not we needed video – I started the wedding planning process opposed to the expense. After polling many of my friends and learning how much they’ve treasured their footage through the years we did our research and found Secret Fire Media. The reviews were very positive and the pricing was fair – something rare in the wedding world! Matthew was professional and respectful of our time – understanding how busy the last few weeks before a wedding can be. Matthew did a great job during the wedding and ceremony of blending in – now after watching the highlights video I can’t say I remember him being there to get most of the footage! To say we were happy with the highlight video is an understatement – within two weeks we received a very beautiful short video clip – which had me in tears and laughter. Matt from Secret Fire Media was a pleasure to work with. He went through the contract line-by-line, showed up early, stayed late, and seemed to be everywhere during the entire ceremony and reception of our wedding. He was extremely easy to get in contact with, and really knew exactly what he was doing. My husband and I decided last minute that we really needed a videographer for our wedding... This was June, such a busy time in wedding season! Matt somehow made time to meet with us and was always quick to respond to emails and any questions we had. He said he'd be like "a fly on the wall" for our wedding day - just what I wanted - and he really was. We never had cameras in our faces and I think it made people dance just a little bit harder on the dance floor when the light hit them! I can't wait to see the finished product. We loved Matt's work. He was great at the ceremony and reception, in that he wasn't intrusive at all, and did a very nice job editing the footage and assembling a great mini-vid and full videos, with great looking footage.

Matthew did our wedding w/1 week's notice, he traveled 1&1/2 hours to do it too! He was the 1st vendor to show up at our wedding. I told him my budget and he fit a package around my budget. He did an amazing job, he caught all the good stuff on film! He even caught the baby boy ring bearer stealing a kiss from the baby girl flower girl, which not even the photographer caught! Priceless! Matthew is a genuine, honest and good business man, I wish there were more like him. When we watched our wedding DVD for the 1st time, we all silently wept w/joy because all the magic was caught on video by Matthew, and it brought back our wedding as if we were there again. Hiring Matthew was the smartest and best wedding money I spent. Hire him, you won't be sorry, nobody's better than Matthew. We hired Secret Fire Media for our Wedding Video this past August. We found them on craigslist and were originally wary hiring a company online. (Their prices are great, but it made us a little nervous too!)

We met with them for a consultation, and they were helpful, polite and answered all our pestering questions.

The day of our wedding they were professional and followed our wishes as we wanted the videographer to be as discreet with shooting as possible.

There was a issue when they mailed us our wedding DVD, (there was a spelling typo), but they were prompt and helpful in mailing us a replacement DVD.

I've heard plenty of bridal horror stories with finding vendors online, but we highly reccomend Secret Fire Media, the video was beautiful!

We were very pleased with the services Matthew from Secret Fire Media provided us. Before the wedding, he was flexible and responsive in planning. The night before the wedding, after we had drawn out a plan for the wedding day, he suggested that he should photograph the men an hour earlier than previously arranged so that he could have more time with the women, and he did not charge us for this extra hour.

During the ceremony and reception, he was unobtrusive and very professional, taking candid shots and not interrupting the flow of events. He put a lot of thought into the angle and lighting of the photos, we thought, and he was always conscious of the potential for good photos around him; during dinner, for example, he stopped eating to take photos of the flower girls on the dance floor. During the photo shoot, he was courteous and very patient, and great with the kids. He showed us some of the photos he had taken on his camera, and we were delighted by the shots we saw; his attention to detail and motivation to take excellent shots were apparent. We can't wait to see the finished product in a few weeks!

Incredible!!

Matthew had a family emergency at last minute the day before our wedding. Rightfully so, we were freaking out! He's resolution was to send his associate, Jeff. Jeff was amazing!! He was out of everyone's way; you hardly knew he was there. He was extremely down to earth, went with the flow, and dealt with many bumps that occurred during the day, calmly and professionally. Secret Fire Media was awesome! We shopped around for a videographer. We were on a budget and he was the best value in the area. We wanted someone to capture all of special moments throughout the day, yet also work well together with our videographer. Our friends had a wedding where the photographer and videographer were fighting and arguing throughout the day. Matt worked seamlessly with our photographer and we barely noticed he was there in the background. He was super nice and went above and beyond meeting us from beginning to end throughout the process and he worked around our busy schedules. The time it took for us to receive our wedding video was what we expected. I feel that the money that was spent on our videographer was probably the best money that we spent on our wedding except for our honeymoon of course! This priceless movie captured moments that either went by so fast on our wedding day or that we missed entirely because our attention was focused elsewhere. I believe that this time capsule will only become more precious to us in the years to come. We can't wait to watch it again on our one year wedding anniversary! Matt helped to make our dreams come true.

We hired SFM for videography only; we had a 30 minute call with him prior to hiring him and he was very amiable while answering all of our questions. The video quality is very good for the value we paid and he captured key moments very well. (Our wedding was on the smaller side, about 110 people). Our wedding was in November and we received the finished products in February, which is pretty good timing. The DVDs we were sent had a nice menu screen to go through each "scene" and we loved our highlights video. I would recommend SFM if you have the budget to add in videography.

Been holding off on doing this but now's the time

We hired Secret Fire Media for our video in July 2021. Our contract said video no later than September 2021. We did not receive the video until December 2021 which is fine but I followed up many many many times and no response so that's what was frustrating. We finally received our video in an email which we were promised 2- DVDs in our contract. I emailed him back right away about getting us the DVDs and since then...I have not heard back. Sent 2 follow-up emails. We cannot even watch our videos on the computer because the files are too large. Our highlights video is beautiful and I'm overall happy with the quality of the editing but on the communication end, I'm very disappointed. It's been 6 months since our wedding and we haven't been able to watch our video. All of a sudden the communication dropped and that's very unprofessional. I hate to write this but I want to make sure everyone is aware while they are searching.

The lack of communication is horrendous

The only reason I am not giving everything 1 star is because our videos were edited very nicely and the pricing was reasonable, but I do not recommend this vendor to literally anyone. Everything was perfect up until the wedding was getting closer. Matthew has always been nice but the lack of communication is horrendous. I’ve lost count at the times I’ve had to double or triple email or text him. I’ve even had to call him and every time he wouldn’t answer the phone, he would then immediately answer my email. When we booked him as our videographer, he said he would contact us 2 months before the wedding to touch base and go over things. He never did that, I had to contact him. On top of that, I had been sending him the vendors list and our timeline for weeks, he never opened one of them until I told him before our last meeting to tell me he has the information and I asked him to print out the timeline to have for our meeting. He said he would, and at our meeting he didn’t have it, he had to use the extra I printed.

The day before the wedding our venue notified us that Matthew was not responding to them and they needed his business insurance asap because they never got it. Then the day of the wedding, Matthew is calling me, THE BRIDE, while I am getting ready because he didn’t know where to go, when we gave him very specific directions and we told him, do NOT call us the morning of the wedding, call our day-of coordinator.

The wedding went great and we were patiently waiting for our video package with our DVD and USB. Our contract said we would get everything on or before July 25th, 2 months after the wedding. That day goes by and we have heard absolutely nothing from Matthew the entire two months after the wedding. So I emailed him asking where our stuff is. He said he has been sick and that he would have it all ready the following week and we requested we meet up for the USB and DVD instead of mailing it. He said no problem, but then that following week had gone by and he hadn’t reached out once asking when we can meet up. I texted and emailed him, no response. So then my husband texts him a very stern text and he answers that almost immediately after I was being ignored. Matthew tells him he’s been sick and hasn’t been able to answer messages and that he can possibly drop off our stuff before a wedding he has that weekend (too sick to answer a text but not too sick to go to a wedding?). My husband drove 30 minutes to meet him, and Matthew texted him 10 minutes before they were supposed to meet saying he can’t make it, he has to go right to the venue. Long story short, we finally got our stuff but then we’re missing our raw files. Took another week to get our raw files sent to us. Then we noticed in the chapter files on our USB, the getting ready one was missing. Took him another 2 weeks to get it to us after I texted him THREE times over the course of a week. He finally answered after I sent a long message about how ridiculous his communication is, then he sent the file immediately.

So so so beyond disappointed with this business. I am a photographer and I know how important communication is to a small business, and lack of communication like this is exactly why he will be losing clients and getting bad reviews like this one. We were never the priority with Matthew and we were even told by one of our other vendors that he said he’s taking on too many clients this year and he’s too busy. Don’t hire a vendor that is too busy for you because they’re overbooking themselves. This is your big day and you should be treated as such through the entire process

We hired Secret Fire Media for our wedding in 2015. The original plan was to just hire a photographer but since we liked Matt during our first meeting we decided to include a videographer. The wedding went off without a hitch and the pictures came out great. However, two months after the wedding Matt contacted us and told us that footage from our wedding was destroyed when a water pipe broke in his office and none of the files are salvageable and it was not saved in the cloud. I'm so devastated about it. He refunded us the video cost but the whole situation was so disappointing. I didn't want to leave a rating less than 5 for Matt since he was great but losing the video of our wedding that I was looking forward to watching for many years is heartbreaking.

I emailed him around the end of November and he told me that the album will take up to 3-4 weeks to get to our house. We are entering February and still nothing, he hasn’t emailed us back after emailing him a few times already

Terrible Experience

I’m going to share our experience with this vendor and you can decide for yourselves if you’d like to book them. Yes, it was very affordable, but our experience with this vendor was very stressful. We got the basic package for videography for our summer 2022 wedding. The experience with our videographer the day of was fine.
The real issues began after the wedding. In our contract, we were promised to receive our video and other content 2 months after the wedding. Once we were 12 weeks post wedding, we started to ask for our video, and I continued to email them every week for 7 months straight. They would inconsistently respond saying they were busy, got covid, health issues, etc. Finally, 7 months and 5 days after our wedding, we received our wedding video and they also said that they would be giving us a full refund by 13 months post wedding due to the extreme delay in receiving our video. At the point when they promised we would receive our full refund, I had to again email them once a week regarding our refund. At last, 14 months after our wedding, we have received our money back. We have been waiting for this refund to finally write our review about this vendor and tell other couples about our experience. I would have been terribly sad if we did not receive our wedding photos for months after we were promised. So I would say we were lucky to have gone through a different vendor for photography.
At some point I really wanted to give this vendor the benefit of doubt because I know a lot of vendors got really f'd over by covid, but to not respond to countless emails regarding the video and the refund is completely unacceptable. I can only hope that other couples can learn from our mistakes and save themselves the headache that we went through.

Unfortunately, myself, as the owner, main shooter and editor, had a series of personal and family related health emergencies throughout 2022 that caused us to become behind in our editing. This year however has been going amazing and we can't wait to show off more of the amazing Wedding Photos and Videos we've shot this year.

You will end up in a legal battle if you book him

DO NOT BOOK THIS VENDOR. He has made the last year and a half of our lives a living hell. We didn't even know if he was going to show up the morning of our wedding. He is so high on himself for absolutely no reason. He will ghost you for months and then give some excuse about a breakup. Sorry, but don't take contracts you can't fulfill. He's also been using that excuse for about 9 months. He hasn't delivered our video or USB of photos even though it was due 10/13 in our legal contract. He was such a STICKLER on our legal contract when it came to us following his schedule, but then when he has to abide by a legal contract, he will just ghost you. He uses every excuse in the book to avoid his job once he gets your money but loves to boast about "shooting over 400 weddings". I can't wait to take him to court.
