A real gem!
Scott was so great! I hired him for my dads wedding and he was the perfect fit. He fulfilled every request without hesitation, provided a photo booth, guest book, Kareoke, and lighting. Everything was flawless and we really enjoyed his energy and flow he provided throughout the night. Definitely hire him. -

DJ for wedding
Scott was the DJ for my wedding this past weekend. He was very helpful and attentive when we were planning the wedding songs and timeline for the wedding day. He created an awesome mashup for my father/daughter dance. He even brought a selfie station that everyone enjoyed. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him for your big day! -

Scott hosted a 90th birthday party for us and knocked it out of the park! He is professional, timely, and communicative and knows to how to throw a party! 50th Anniversary Party
Scott was an amazing D.J.. He played all the music that we loved. He interacted with all of the guest. I would recommend him for any affair that you are going to do. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ than Scott Shaw for our wedding this past weekend. Scott was available, professional and an absolute pleasure to speak to. He worked dillingently with our coordinator to make everything perfect. The work sheets that he provided to us made planning much easier than anticipated. Our Special Day
D.J. Scott was truly awesome! He was so friendly and easy to work with leading up to the wedding. On the day of the wedding he was easy to work with for our event coordinator. He kept the music going and people dancing! He was the perfect D.J. for our celebration. We loved the games he played and the wedding photo app he set up for us. I would definitely suggest booking him for all you event needs! Even Alan, who usually is nonchalant about things commented on how great of a job he did! He made our day very memorable! -

Best Beach Wedding Ever!
Scott Shaw made our wedding so magical and wonderful! He made it such a wonderful day to remember from start to finish! Everyone kept telling us how that was the best wedding they have ever been to! With covid messing up our original wedding date, we had to move it a few the out and scott was so flexible throughout the whole time. The wedding ceremony was perfect, all of the songs I wanted were played at the perfect times, the reception was so fun! We ended up only having about 25 people come due to covid, but it didn't matter at all. We all had a blast and he got the whole crowd moving! Games were played and they were so fun! Me and my dad had a special dance we made up moves to and he was able to make a mix for us that fit perfectly. He also helped us with the cutting of the cake and the organization of getting our exit song done with our sparklers, just everything was perfect. We would 100 percent recommend him for anyone's wedding or event!-

Phenomenal! Scott is the best. With the ceremony outside, Scott made sure that the Pastor, Bride and Groom were miked so everyone could hear what was being said. And, due to Covid, the number of guests was less than originally planned. And, it was a brunch wedding. But, Scott gave life to the reception and got people out on the dance floor. The "photo booth" was fun and the games he had the bride and groom play got everyone laughing. Definitely recommend him. FYI: He has the perfect DJ voice. :) -

A Weight Off of My Shoulders
DJ Shaw was absolutely amazing! His voice is made for being a DJ and emcee! He was great at reading a room and knowing what type of music to play at the right time. All of my wedding guests felt very comfortable walking up and requesting music and he was quick to oblige. When I first called to inquire about his services, I told him I had no idea about a schedule of events. In about 15 minutes, he explained to me a recommended order of events for both the ceremony and reception and what types of music to play when. I would have been lost without him. My guests had a fantastic time, and I felt at ease during the entire ceremony and reception because I knew he had the music and order of events under complete control. 10/10 would hire him again for any event! -

Excellent work on Quinceañera!
We initially reached out to DJ Scott as a DJ for our daughter's Quinceañera, but Scott was much more than just a DJ. Very responsive and involved in our timeline and gave helpful suggestions to keep things moving, excellent attention to detail with the song lists, making sure everything was family friendly, with clean versions of all music choices. Scott did a great job as MC, making sure all our guests knew what was going on, when, and where, and even did a fine job at learning some of our announcements phonetically in Spanish! Scott took a number of photos that we supplied and made a wonderful slide show, which he projected on a screen for the duration of the event. Did I mention the photo booth? Well, he did that also! All of this without missing a point on the timeline, or anything else. We could not have been more pleased with the results we got with DJ Scott, and Scott Shaw Productions-we HIGHLY recommend him/them for any event, especially one with lots of moving parts that need to synchronize! A+++++++

Fantastic DJ!
An amazing DJ! He kept the party alive. Very friendly and accommodating to everyone's requests. All my guests came up to me to compliment Scott Shaw and that he was very lively. Scott did an EXCELLENT job Dj'ing my brothers wedding in myrtle beach! despite the fact that we threw some last minute requests his way, he NEVER missed a beat (pun intended)
Not only did he have an excellent playlist that was well enjoyed by every age group but he also let the guests request songs! Our family received nothing but positive feedback about the way he acted towards the wedding guests and his willingness to help us with last minute needs.
playlists aside, Scott also did an excellent job of MCing the special event. He not only has the perfect voice for the job but also the perfect personality which was uplifting and cheery. if i wouldnt have known better i would have thought he knew the bride and groom on a personal level!
Cannot say enough great things about Scott! highly recommended!!!!! Thanks again, and if i ever can sucker some chick into marrying me and we happen to be in south carolina I know exactly who my Dj will be. -

Scott was a fantastic DJ! Our guests raves about him for days after our wedding. We had a cancelation with our first DJ, we contacted Scott and he was available and we couldn’t have been happier. Scott Shaw is the life of the party! Scott was such an awesome DJ and made sure the party stayed alive all night long! We used Scott Shaw for the ceremony, cocktail and reception music for our wedding! He was so accommodating and his website was super user friendly and easy to select your music. We had our guests send us requests on their wedding invitation so it was extremely easy to add to our playlist. Two weeks before the wedding we a conference call to go over all the details and he made both us feel at ease and excited to get married. He was also great with the bridal party and made sure everyone knew their role in the different events taking place throughout the night. He played all of the music that we requested and even took requests from several of our guests throughout the night. He was a great MC throughout the night and kept guests informed on things and kept the party alive. The greatest gesture that we received from Scott came at the end of the night when Scott gave us a CD with every song that was played the entire day. We both were ecstatic and were not expecting that but its such a thoughtful thing to give us! Scott Shaw is awesome and really makes the night the best night of your life. He is a must! -

I could not have been more pleased with the service provided by Scott Shaw Productions!! Steve, the DJ for our wedding, was phenomenal. It ended up storming the day of our outdoor wedding. I was so scared that the DJ would not be able to go through with everything we had planned due to the weather, but he assured me that the show would still go on just as planned. Our reception was a BLAST and I owe all of that credit to Steve and Scott Shaw Productions.
From the first time I met with them, I was put completely at ease. Anyone planning a wedding can tell you how important that is. They were so professional and had so many ideas for songs and games for the reception. My guests even gave Steve a standing ovation at the end & begged him to stay longer! We didn't want the fun to end!!
If you are having doubts about who to book for your DJ then make the best decision for your wedding and book these guys!!!

Scott did an awesome job with being responsive to any of my emails or calling me back. He was very professional and took a lot of time to really get to know us and what we wanted for our wedding. It turned out great, everyone had a great time and was out on the dance floor. I highly recommend. -

From beginning to end I knew we picked the perfect DJ / Photo-booth service. He was so helpful and accommodating in every aspect. From planning, timing, song selections, lighting and he newly wed game - everything was a hit. We had a beach ceremony during a freak sunny spot during a tropical storm and Scott was there and ready with his equipment on the beach assuring me that everything would be just great. And it was. I highly recommend this company. -

My family gave my Mom a surprise 70th birthday party on February 14, 2015.Scott was the dj, we also rented the photo booth, and we had a special slide show presentation. Scott did all three with perfection. He was very professional and was very attentive to my needs. He went above and beyond to make her day a very special one. Excellent DJ! Literally saved the day as the helplessly inexperienced event planner stood by and did virtually nothing to keep the evening going. I'm glad we didn't listen to the event planner and that we chose you to work with! Everyone enjoyed your music selection. The speakers and mics were awesome and it was totally worth getting the full package. Thank you for all the assistance you provided and tools for planning and pictures and just ways to SAVE money. Scott went above and beyond our expectations! He was available to chat (by email and phone) for the months leading up to the wedding, and never left a question unanswered. On the day of, his outgoing personality helped to get everyone out on the dance floor, and our guests danced the night away--with a few breaks for photo booth sessions throughout! Everyone was raving about the photo booth all night! The ceremony music also turned out wonderfully, and the microphones on the officiant and the groom allowed our guests to hear what was going on (despite the wedding being outdoors!). Thanks for helping to make our night completely perfect and unforgettable, Scott! -

Scott was great to work with from our first phone call to the night of the wedding. We had a destination wedding and only met Scott in person on the wedding day but we were never worried that he did not have the entire event in control. If I called or sent an email he responded quickly. The reception at the View at Brick Landing Plantation was a huge success and everyone who traveled from California, New York, Tennessee, Greenville/Anderson have not stopped talking about what a great time, what great music and how much fun the photo booth was.
So glad we used Scott-such a great party!! -

Steve Calfee with Robert Shaw Productions provided the musical accompaniment for our wedding in October 2010. He did an unbelievable job with our processional and recessional which included "A Little Help from My Friends" and "All You Need Is Love". He provided a beautiful soundtrack for our guests while they waited for the ceremony to start. Steve also played for our guests during a brief cocktail hour while we had our pictures done. We received numerous praise for having such a talented musician. Steve was more then a typical DJ it wasn't just playing from CD Steve actually played guitar and sung the songs himself. Steve is an amazing musician and singer.
Steve also did us the honor of playing our first dance song, "I've Had The Time Of My Life". It was such a special privilege to have such a talented, live musician make that moment so unique for us. -

Scott is personable, working well with everyone. He is talented and does excellent work at a very reasonable cost. Scott is punctual getting to each event early and properly laying out the space. He is creative and inventive with great out-of the-box ideas that really work. He is very competent in areas such as Master of Ceremony, Singer, Sound Professional, Wedding DJ, Comedian, Sound and Recording Engineer and Musician. He works well with any age group. Scott has detailed knowledge of procedures at wedding receptions and hosting parties. He can work comfortably in churches, reception halls, ballrooms and hotel venues as well as recording sound and video for events in remote locations without electrical power in beach and riverfront locations too. The excellent equipment he has selected for professionally recording and producing video at your event is superb. Scott’s knowledge of photography results in stunning photos of the events that he presides over. He produces great formal as well as candid shots. I would highly recommend Scott at Scott Shaw Productions for producing any event that will be attended by people you care about. The experience of having him work for you and your event will be memorable, lots of fun and perfectly done. He is a professional in every sense and truly a master of his craft. Hiring Scott for any event is money well spent for a great experience well worth having. You'll be very glad you did. He is wonderful! -

His website included planning tools that were very helpful with choosing music for both the ceremony and reception. He arrived early to our event and set up his equipment. We are thrilled that we hired Scott Shaw Productions for entertainment/music at both the Ceremony and the reception.
What we got was far more than music and entertainment; we also received a flurry of great ideas and peace of mind. Before meeting with Scott my wife and I were overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done. Scott not only helped with getting the Wedding in order including sheets that helped us organize all our vendors and plans, but gave us many new ideas that we had not thought of. We were presented with ways to involve our guests other than just throwing them a fun dance party at the reception. We were shown names of apps that we could have our guests download and games that we could play with our guests. We feel this gave us much more entertainment value and made the guests really feel like they were part of our wedding celebrations rather than just attending them.
The music and ambience was great! My wife and I had no idea what we wanted save for a select few songs, so after giving Scott the names of a few songs and bands we had our on Pandora playlists, he was able to pick the perfect songs for each and every moment of the reception.
All in all I don't think the wedding would have been nearly as successful as it was without Scott and my family and new in-laws are still talking about how much fun they had and its been three weeks since the wedding.

We ended up planning a wedding in less than 3 months, and were scrambling to find a DJ when we found Scott. Scott was from the very beginning incredibly professional and thorough. He had wonderful online tools that allowed my planning of the event to go so smoothly, and allowed for easy communication with him. He followed up throughout my planning and made sure to take into account our preferences in all aspects of his job -even on things that I had not considered having personalized.
He went over the top in his preparations, and was in contact with our other vendors to make sure that he could help coordinate the days events smoothly.
One the day of the wedding, Scott did not miss a beat when things were running behind schedule and he improvised when necessary. He was a huge hit with our guests and we received many compliments about how funny and personable he was. We played the Newly Wed game & it was hilarious - I would definitely recommend it. We also had Scott provide a photobooth for us, and our guests loved it. People were running to get in line at the photobooth, and some of our guests were wearing the props onto the dance floor.... and doing the Harlem Shake... Overall it was hilarious.
Thanks to Scott, our wedding flowed seamlessly, and we were able to incorporate all of the events that we desired. I would highly recommend Scott Shaw as he is a fantastic DJ who obviously is in this business because he loves people and he loves to entertain. -

Scott was absolutely amazing, We could not have asked for a better DJ. We played the "Top 10" game and the "Newlywed game" and those were so much fun .. people at our wedding are still talking about how fun and unique that was to include those in the reception. Scott played all types of music that we asked for and he really knew how to entertain our guests and get the party started. We would recommend Scott to anyone and everyone. We wish we could have a party with him every year!! Everyone at our wedding loved Scott and the music that he played, he really got the party started and keep it going. He has a great personality and is very easy to work with, and he was also very easy to get a hold of and communicate with during the wedding planning process. When we started planning our wedding, a DJ was first on the list of items we decided to skip. We figured an iPod would do the trick, on a small budget, we were trying to keep things as low cost as possible. Our day-of coordinator persuaded us to talk to Scott, and I am so glad she did!! He was hands down responsible for the amazing energy through out our reception. He listened to us throughout our consultation process, took the time to get to know us as a couple, and used that to create an amazing experience for everyone on our day. Scott Shaw was an amazing DJ! He made us feel comfortable with him from our very first meeting. What we wanted, he made happen. We left most things up to him as the expert, but Scott called me on several occasions to ask questions, take notes, etc about how I envisioned my night and what I wanted to see happen. Scott Shaw and his team are The BOMB!!!!!! We had an amazing time dancing to all our favorite hits, and the photo booth was packed all night and worth the money. Scott surprised us with awesome gifts, to remember our special time with all of our friends and family. We were presented with a photo album with notes written in it from our guests, and a disc of all the photo booth pictures. Our guest loved that they got their pictures on the spot, and we loved our name and date was on the bottom for them to remember our special day. Scott and his staff were so professional and created such a fun evening for us to remember forever. We 110% recommend Scott Shaw productions for your DJ needs. -

I have to admit that I hate to write a bad review because all in all I was very happy with the service that was provided, however, when I sent in my deposit the check was lost and I called and e-mailed and didn't hear anything for a few days. I sent in the check again but not sure if that was what I should have done... the only other small thing that surprised me was that I was not told until the week before the wedding that we would be having a separate DJ than Scott Shaw himself, we ended up having DJ Steve who did a wonderful job!
The website that came up with a time line was very good and I liked that there were options to choose from for songs as I am not a music-savvy person.
The photo booth was a big hit! It was closed during the prime parts of the reception such as dinner, speeches and special dances but otherwise was open during the drinks and dancing. There is a separate person that comes with the DJ to run the photo booth so you don't have to worry about guests not knowing what to do. They also put together a custom scrap book of the photo strips for us and sent us a CD with the individual pictures that we could print off at a later date. It is awesome and I loved having the photo booth!! -

Played the songs too fast for the entry of the mothers, groom, bridesmaids and bride. Also had a visit from the cops saying neighbors complained about the noise level of the music during the reception. I think they were just being nosy. -

We hired Scott Shaw to DJ our wedding in June 2015, in Southport NC.
Positives: Scott was very responsive & answered all questions in detail. He was very open to our very specific requests & music tastes. He was very knowledgeable in setting up microphones for ceremony & overall the sound was good. I sent him a playlist for cocktail hour & music to play during dinner & he played the songs & genres as requested. Scott was a nice, friendly guy & didn’t try to speak too much & just played music, which is what we wanted.
Negatives: Scott was very open to our requests & attentive to genres we discussed & we sent very detailed emails about songs for our dances. We changed the mother/son dance song a couple weeks prior to the wedding & confirmed the change over the phone, but Scott played the wrong song during the wedding. Mistakes happen, so it wouldn’t have been a big deal, except he messed up our intro song as well.
Other than playing the wrong songs for our dances, I’d say the biggest negative was awkward silence in between songs. We were introduced, walked in to a song & then he announced our first dance. There was a good 20 seconds of dead silence, with us just standing there in front of everyone, before our first dance song started to play. It seems to be an equipment issue, in that a traditional DJ can queue up the next song to have a seamless transition. Scott didn’t seem to have this capability.
During the reception, I left the “dancing” music up to Scott's discretion, as I knew there would be requests. I sent him some artists & a few songs to play, which I think he did for the most part. The songs he played at his discretion were not ideal/did not really get the crowd dancing.
Overall, Scott was a super nice guy, asked a lot of questions & was detail oriented, which we like, but in the end the execution was not great. -

Nice guy, but doesn’t really follow through
We picked out very specific songs and he told us the version we wanted and kept repeating it back, but when it came to the day of, the ceremony entrances were not right and neither was the entrance to the reception. We picked out songs for the bouquet and garter toss as well as the anniversary dance and he never did them. Helpful through the process, but kind of disappointed with the end result -

Scott and his team did a good job of capturing moments during our reception in the photos I've seen. Most of the night we had tons of people on the dance floor. However, my fiance and I spent a long time making lists of 'must play' and 'do not play' music which was added to the wedding portal that he requested we fill out. Very little of that was followed - while I respect his knowledge of wedding type music that gets people dancing, we made those lists for a reason and really wish more of the music we requested to hear was played. Also, the majority of the reception was spent with him tracking us down if we stepped away to say hi to anyone to tell us it was time for another 'event'. While I understand we listed specific things we would like to do during the reception my opinion would be to defer to whatever instruction the bride and groom give in that moment as opposed to interrupting them repeatedly and demanding they come back to the dance floor when trying to thank guests for coming. With that said, we're the only ones who noticed it wasn't the music we requested and that we kept being pulled away so as a whole it was a positive experience but if you're specific about your request list I would be very vocal about that. -

Mediocrity, Miscommunication, and Deceitful Disappointment
I'd like to preface by saying I wish this were a good review, as we had high hopes when booking Scott as a DJ for our wedding last weekend. Unfortunately, it was a culmination of unprofessionalism, incompetence, and disappointments that put a damper on an otherwise wonderful day.
After finding Scott here on WeddingWire, he initially reached out to us via phone call to discuss his services. We decided to work with him because of his calm demeanor and supposed industry knowledge. Sadly, we never got to experience his skills as a DJ/MC, as he offloaded our wedding day—that we had booked a year in advance!—onto another DJ, Jim of Elite Entertainment of the Carolinas. We were only made aware of this switch less than a month before our event, making it impossible to book another DJ in time. In addition, this arrangement was never discussed in any of our communications or in the contract itself, which, in hindsight, seems quite deceitful.
Despite this abrupt change, we put our trust in Scott, thinking that he would properly communicate all of the details that we had discussed. I spent hours creating highly organized playlists on Spotify that I had also translated into a written, color-coded spreadsheet. I clearly outlined the must-play songs as well as the banned songs. Yet somehow, multiple songs that we had banned were played on our wedding day, incorrect .mp3s were used, announcements were changed at the last minute, scripts were ignored, and much more. We believe it was a result of one or all three of these problems: miscommunication/lack of communication between Scott and Jim, indifference towards client requests, or general incompetency on Jim’s part.
We are not holding Scott responsible for Jim’s mistakes on the day of our wedding, but there were a few issues even prior to the offloading. We had chosen a specific song for our first dance (as most couples do), and after our discussion, Scott sent us an edited .mp3 of the song to approve. This .mp3 had an unacceptable amount of harsh audio clipping, so I sent back an .mp3 file that I had edited myself and approved of. I am appalled that anyone can call themselves a professional DJ without a proper understanding of audio mixing and sound quality.
We paid for a service expecting that our wishes would be honored and that we wouldn’t have to worry about the planning or quality of performance, but instead we ended up doing most of the administrative work—writing out a detailed script and timeline, creating written playlists, and providing links & mp3s. We are so disappointed with this outcome after all of the effort that we put into making this an organized and positive client-vendor relationship. Other minor issues that we mistakenly overlooked include misspellings of names and common words, incorrect timeline information, blatant disregard for details that could’ve been easily referenced from our emails, and currently, an absolute shut-down of communication upon the conclusion of our event.
We believe this would have been better as a private discussion, but the disrespect and unprofessionalism that we’ve faced throughout our working relationship ultimately led us to write this review in the hopes that it could help another couple make a better decision than we did when choosing a wedding DJ. -
