We hired both Sarah and her husband for our wedding and they were both amazing! We have so many beautiful pictures to go through! I was truly amazed at how many gorgeous pictures I received back and a ton in such a quick timeframe too! We literally were on our honeymoon and I got a bunch of photos back that week! It was great! My other friend that was married two days earlier still didn’t have any of her photos back! We can it thank them enough! This was our first time with professional photos and she was amazing to work with! -

Sarah is fantastic! Seriously, if you need a photographer for a special event, family portrait, etc. then look no further because Sarah is your gal! We hired her for our Wedding this past November and naturally, as we surpassed our third month of marriage I sifted through our wedding album for likely the 100th time. I was reminded how incredibly skilled Sarah is and the reasons she was my number one choice for a photographer (lighting/angles/background). No joke -- she had her husband and staff member help block shadows throughout our first look -- illustrating a willingness to go above and beyond to capture the best shots. While it's clear she has plenty of experience, something I truly appreciated throughout the last year was Sarah's flexibility. It's not lost on us how difficult COVID made wedding planning and how it indirectly impacted the vendors we worked with (changed engagement photo dates, updated timelines the day of the wedding, altering guest lists, etc.). Every step of the way Sarah was easy and fun to work with! I truly hope we can work with her for some family portraits in the future! -

Sarah did a wonderful job with our wedding back in September! We had three photographers cancel on us within two weeks of the wedding, then we found Sarah and after working with her we realized she really should've been our first choice! She was incredibly professional and organized and captured beautiful moments all day. The finished photos that she sent over were absolutely gorgeous and I loved her editing style. We can't recommend her enough! -

My hubby and I loved Sarah! She was absolutely wonderful! She is super friendly, easy to work with, and makes you feel comfortable. She is very passionate about what she loves (capturing special memories that will last a lifetime) and she goes above and beyond and her work reflects that. Highly Recommended. Sarah was absolutely amazing! She was super friendly and easy to work with. We had to postpone our reception and thankfully she was still able to be our photographer! We were on a tight budget and she was willing to work with us to meet our needs and stay in budget while giving us high quality and beautiful pictures in return! I would absolutely recommend Sarah! -

Of all the amazing vendors we had for the wedding, the best decision we made was to hire Sarah Shelley for our photographer. From her flexibility at our engagement photo shoot (arriving before dawn to shoot us in the midst of the chaos of the peak cherry blossom weekend) to her tireless, graceful, and agile work at our wedding, Sarah was beyond amazing.
The quality of her photos is top notch, and she is quick to get them back, which is a huge bonus! She blended in seamlessly at our wedding and found the most interesting and entertaining shots of our guests during the reception. Her eye is really impeccable. She captured the sweet quiet moments during the ceremony to the loud boisterous (alcohol-infused) fun shots on the dance floor without skipping a beat. And she allowed us to incorporate our beloved dog, Haans, into both the engagement shoot and actual wedding day and captured his spirit perfectly!
Not only do I highly recommend Sarah's work, but what makes her even more special is that she is a gem to work with. You want someone during this chaotic time who is pleasant, responsive, there without even being asked, and someone who can have fun all at the same time: Sarah is this person. I came away from this experience feeling like I'd also gained a new friend in the process. I truly can't say enough about her. Seriously, if she's available, do yourself a favor and hire her. Her rates are competitive, the quality of her work is beyond compare, and she's a genuinely nice and easy person to get along with on top of it all. One quick note for spastic brides (like I was): if she doesn't respond immediately, don't worry, she will. She's got two small kids and tends to work later in the evenings, so don't judge her if she doesn't respond to your text/call/email within five minutes. She will. And she's worth it.

Family Photos Mini Session
Such a perfect package for a family with next to no free time and a very energetic toddler! Sarah got a ton of great shots which is difficult with an ever-moving toddler — she was friendly and made my son feel comfortable and happy. Cute poses and great angles...she picked a great location and the pictures turned out so great...I am in love with so many of them! Her turn around time was unreal and I have everything in time to make Christmas cards and even create gifts for relatives. Thank you, Sarah! We will be booking again next year for sure. -

Professional and personable!
I was so impressed with Sarah! Once she arrived she immediately got to work! I have to say I wasn't the happiest bride in 90 degree weather during our photoshoot and I was so overtaken by the day's activities, but she was so patient with me and did not make me feel like a terrible person! She made me feel at ease every time I felt I was getting overwhelmed. Everything was worth it when I saw the outcome! She was so fast at sending me the pictures and open to questions. Would definitely recommend her! Thank you for capturing our special day! :) -

Wedding Photos
Sarah was amazing! Not only where our engagement photos incredible but I cannot stop getting compliments on our wedding photos! She was so flexible and willing to negotiate on price and package details. Our engagement photos were the first set of posed photos my husband and I had ever done together and she put us at ease. -

We love Sarah! We hired Sarah for our wedding this past weekend and she was amazing to work with from the engagement photos to the big day. She was so responsive and professional and her photos are beautiful. We took so many photos, (getting ready, to the first look, the ceremony and the reception) and she was able to capture all the special moments throughout the day. She was even able to get photos of my three little flower girls. We highly recommend Sarah and we will be hiring her again! -

Sarah was an amazing photographer to work with from start to finish. We first met her when she took our engagement photos a few months before our wedding. She was friendly, professional, and took so many beautiful pictures of us which she got back to us less than a week later! Leading up to our wedding Sarah asked us what we wanted and helped us with a timeline. We wanted to take all of our bridal party pictures and family pictures prior to our ceremony in order to enjoy time with our families. Sarah made it happen. She kept on our timeline and made sure we got all the pictures we wanted. The pictures Sarah took of us are GORGEOUS. I've gotten so many compliments on them from our friends and family. We started getting pictures back from Sarah about two weeks after our wedding. It is now about six weeks post wedding and we already have all of our photos! I was so happy with Sarah and would absolutely hire her or recommend her to friends and family! -

Meagan Sent on 11/28/2017Sarah is the most exceptional photographer in Northern Virginia. My husband and I worked with her for over a year, planning and customizing our wedding photography experience. Our engagement photos (shot in Washington, D.C.) were perfectly staged, captured, and returned to us. Sarah shot our wedding in Leesburg, VA on November 3rd for 8 hours. She made us look and feel incredible! We paid extra for a second photographer (her wonderful husband) for 2 hours at our wedding. That option allowed our ceremony, cocktail hour, and start of our reception to simultaneously be captured by the both of them. Sarah was able to insert herself into the most personal moments of our wedding, without intrusion. At times, we didn't notice her there, which is a true testament to her mastery. Her skills as a photographer surpass her pricing (which is extremely affordable!) She is truly is worth every single penny we spent. Thank you so much, Sarah! Her smile and incredibly successful manner with children have led to numerous fun photography sessions for all of our most important occasions! We have a library of photos to look back on that is truly amazing and will give us many happy memories for years to come! Sarah is very professional and we have always enjoyed working with her. Veronica Sent on 10/30/2017My fiancé and i hired Sarah Shelley to do our engagement pictures. She was great with responding to emails and helping coordinate a place to go to. I had mentioned I wanted someplace rustic and country like for the location. She came up with the best spot. When we took the pictures she was very easy to be comfortable with. My fiancé isn't the biggest fan of getting his picture taken but she was able to get him to smile and actually get into taking the pictures. We WILL be using her again.

She’s laid back and received a lot of compliments not only on the actual pictures but also on her attentiveness throughout our wedding day. She captured lots of smiles from our guests too. She’s great and I truly am thankful for putting my picture anxiety to ease for a lifetime!
