From our initial conversation it was clear that Sam was super client-focused. My wife and I wanted a photographer who could capture moments and candid experiences and I'm so happy to say we found that with Sam. Throughout our wedding day everything felt so smooth, Sam made sure every aspect of our shoot felt fun and encouraged us to try things. He saw new perspectives that I've never seen in other shoots at the venue that made our experience feel unique. That's before we even mention the end result - his eye made all the difference, creating the most beautiful images I've ever seen. His work was worth every penny and his personality made the whole experience so much fun. I'd highly recommend Sam to everyone without hesitation (I already have recommended him to a bunch of my friends!) -

Wonderful Experience with Sam Hurd
My wife and I hired Sam to be our wedding photographer and couldn’t have been more delighted with him. We got engaged in September 2022 and didn’t end up doing our engagement shoot til a month before our wedding because we wanted some nicer spring weather. Sam couldn’t have been more flexible as we postponed it a few times trying to get some warmer weather.
From the moment we met Sam for the engagement shoot we were quite pleased. Sam has a very easy way about him and makes you comfortable even if you’ve never done a photo shoot in your life. He makes it all seem so effortless.
Once we got the full gallery of our wedding pics we were just as thrilled. Amazing photos! Sam is a true artist; he not only knows how to capture your facial expressions for wonderful photos but knows how to capture the moment by adding in that artistic flair. Some of our photos are simply mesmerizing with his use of light and color.
I highly recommend looking up Sam to photograph your wedding! -

HIRE SAM. HIRE SAM. HIRE SAM. Please – if you’re considering it, do it!! It was hands-down the best vendor decision made for my wedding. You will not regret it.

- The photos themselves. They’re gorgeous. He captured all of these little moments that are gone in a blink of an eye. His use of color is absolutely stunning and his editing is pure magic. He made everyone at the wedding look their absolute best – but also look like them. Everyone that I’ve shared the photos with is blown away by them. They are truly one-of-a-kind.
- His professionalism. Sam is a master. He is so calm, so caring, and so kind when interacting with my family, friends and other vendors -- it was truly so wonderful. My husband and I felt so comfortable being ourselves and never felts pressured or uncomfortable when we aren’t the most camera-ready two. He also got these amazing shots on the dance floor and there were times I had no idea he was there. It was incredible.
- His vision. We had a large open space venue and he would find these beautiful pockets to frame us – even in a Jenga set, which is one of my favorite photos! – and they turned out amazing. Everything has the potential to be beautiful and I love that.
Your photos are really one of the only things – or the only thing you take from your wedding. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS. Hire Sam and you’ll be set. -

Sam Hurd is the Picasso of photography. His creativity and energy is one of a kind. For our wedding, we wanted artistic photos that could pass for gallery prints in a museum. Sam gave us exactly that and more! He was extremely easy to work with - followed the flow of the day and made it fun in the process. Sam's journalistic style is extremely unobtrusive to the wedding day formalities. I was very clear in the beginning that I did not want the theatrical feel that most weddings have. We hired Sam by himself and he was perfect. He captured all the details that made our hearts full. There wasn't a detail he missed. Worth.Every.Penny....probably more! -

We were thrilled with every one of our vendors, but Sam was next-level. His photos speak for themselves, so I won't harp too much on them (though they were absolutely stunning and unique, we are thrilled, and he delivered SO MANY). We have gotten so many compliments on not only the photos but also Sam's professionalism and ease. He made us all feel so comfortable and relaxed. When it came time for my husband and I to go off with Sam to take photos without the rest of our group, we honestly enjoyed every moment of it, in large part because Sam is fun and easy to work with. He has so many creative ideas and makes you feel like you're in the best hands (which you are). Sam was also great to work with in the contracting phase and was kind enough to give us a couple of videographer recommendations (we ended up absolutely loving one of his picks). I highly recommend doing an engagement shoot with him too - just to get used to getting your photos taken and get to know him. Sam is a 10/10 - can't say enough good things about him. -

I initially found Sam while browsing social media for potential wedding photographers about a year before our wedding. I'm personally not a fan of the stereotypical glammed out wedding photos where a lot of hair/makeup/etc is required, and was looking for someone who could take more artistic, unique photos for us. So glad we found Sam, his work caught my eye from the start and as he continued to work with us through engagement photos and then the big day, it became super clear that he is an experienced professional and was the perfect fit for us! Neither my husband (still weird to say haha) nor I are easily relaxed in front of a camera, so it was pretty nerve wracking for us to even think about getting professional photos taken where we didn't look like hot messes. However Sam's super calm demeanor and clear direction made everything feel so easy.
The day of, we had about 40 people for photos in a variety of spaces at the St. George Botanical Gardens in the US Virgin Islands, and Sam did an amazing job at crowd control. There was no sense of anxiety or rushing even though it's so hard to direct such a wandering large group of people. He was also totally open to the ridiculous poses we wanted to do for fun. We never felt any pressure to stand in or pose in places that felt difficult or unnatural for us. I also really appreciated his attention to detail during the shot setups, I'm sure something he's developed into second-hand nature through his career thus far. Sunglasses and purses were all appropriately out of view, boutonnieres and were perfectly in place with his direction, and we got some crazy artistic shots of us utilizing the colors and shapes and textures around us so well. Ultimately, it was his unique techniques that resulted in absolutely stunning and mind-blowing photos that are so cool to have for the rest of our lives.
While Sam's work speaks for itself, we really had such an enjoyable experience having such a wonderful photographer who wasn't too intrusive but firm enough with herding our crazy friends into place to get the best shots. Without us even really noticing his whereabouts throughout the day, he gave us over 1000 absolutely fantastic photos from our wedding day and he worked solo with minimal equipment - really goes to show how his work is seated in pure skill.
Several of our friends are already expressing interest in hiring him for their weddings in the future, and I'm also thinking about what future events we could have him join us for again. -

Raven Sent on 06/15/2016I am so so so happy we booked Sam Hurd to be the photographer for our Disney World destination wedding. The photos he took are magical! He has such an eye for detail and perfectly captured the "essence" of our wedding day. He captured the perfect candid moments and reactions, as well as the most beautiful posed shots. I am not a very sentimental person, but I get teary eyed every time I look at the images Sam took, as do many of our friends and family members, some of whom weren't even there!
I was a little worried before our wedding because we didn't book a second shooter, but as soon as Sam came in to take our getting ready photos, I was not worried anymore. You could really tell he knew what he was doing. He was literally like a wedding photo ninja: All dressed in black, moving around quickly, appearing to be in multiple locations at the same time, and not even breaking a sweat in 100-degree weather; all the while being barely noticeable and not all up in our business. We did not need a second shooter; Sam did enough work for two photographers or more. All of our guests were raving about how friendly, funny and professional he was. We are very grateful for the beautiful photos he provided us with.
If you are like us, and you aren't sure if you can afford high-end photography, please just do yourself a favor and save money on decorations and other stupid wedding stuff (like bouquets for all the bridesmaids... get wrist corsages instead). That's what we did, and we are so happy we made that decision! I think that Sam could make even a landfill look like the most beautiful and romantic place on earth. We highly recommend Sam Hurd Photography!
