Absolutely cannot recommend Ryan Smith Photography enough! Ryan was beyond amazing throughout our entire wedding experience. Our wedding day in early October was rained out due to a nor’easter, and Ryan immediately insisted we schedule another day to get the outdoor photos we had dreamed of. This was such a welcomed surprise—it made our wedding memories stretch out even longer and gave me a wonderful reason to wear my dress again!
On the day of our retakes, it rained again, but Ryan was so calm and patient. He waited it out with us, and thanks to his flexibility, we were able to get the photos we wanted without having to redo my hair and makeup. Ryan’s dedication, professionalism, and kindness truly set him apart. He went above and beyond to make sure we had beautiful memories to cherish forever.
We are still eagerly awaiting our full gallery, but Ryan already sent us sneak peek photos immediately after meeting up with him yesterday evening, which was such a thoughtful touch and made us even more excited to see the rest. We booked Ryan for our wedding in May 2025 and then decided to add on an engagement session this past May. Ryan did a fantastic job with our engagement and wedding photos! He was both friendly and professional. For the wedding, he arrived early so that he could survey the property, find the best photo areas, and start shooting. I could tell that he was making every effort to capture the perfect photos for us and to incorporate the shots we wanted. I’m interested in photography (as a hobby), so I appreciated that he occasionally explained why he was using a certain lens, having us stand in a particular area, etc. He was fun to work with. Looking at the photos, you would have never guessed that this was his first time visiting the venue. There are so many beautiful pictures, I don’t know how we’ll choose which ones we want to print! I appreciate his work in capturing our special day.

Love our Photos!
We are very fortunate to have Ryan as our photographer. He was very professional and we can really tell he has mastered his craft! The photos really turned out amazing even though it was a very windy day!!!! You can’t even tell!! The sunset photos are even more amazing came out way better!!! He was very helpful and really good at guiding us and making suggestions, coordinating with our DJ and catered to our request to stop by the beach!! We love how he captured different emotions of our guests and ourselves.

October Wedding

Transformed Average Bride and Groom into Models!
Ryan was an absolute dream to work with and cannot recommend him enough! From the time of booking to the wedding day, his communication was comforting and timely. My husband and I had a unique experience as our wedding was only 19 people. This gave him extra time with just the two of us. He took us all around the resort getting a variety of photos. Our favorites were at sunset on the beach and along a row of palm trees. Being a midsized bride I was self-conscious in my appearance. His suggestions for poses were on point. I have never looked to good in a photo! He seriously made us look like models in these photos. We are SO pleased with everything. NO need to look anywhere else... Ryan is your guy!

Of all the choices I’ve made for my wedding, choosing Ryan Smith Photography was likely the best one. Ryan showed up early on the day of and checked in with me immediately upon arrival and went straight to work. He was so much fun, personable, and professional. He turned the photos around quickly and responded to all of my emails immediately. Everyone loved him. My family and friends are still talking about him! I have a condition that makes my eyes look a bit strange in pictures sometimes and I was concerned about my wedding photos looking distorted. I had spoken with Ryan and he was very respectful of this. I was sure that there would be a number of pictures that I would not love because of my eye. Fantastic Wedding Photos
We chose Ryan to photograph our destination wedding after doing quite a bit of online research of photographers in the area and are absolutely thrilled that we did! We met with Ryan once at his office about 2 months before our wedding to go over everything we envisioned for our big day and we knew even then we had made the right choice. The day of the wedding he was tremendous with trying to catch all of the right moments and angles without even being noticed. He sent us a few preview photos a couple of days later and then in less than 3 weeks we had the entire gallery emailed to us. The pictures are absolutely fantastic and we could not be more thrilled. He caught every big moment of our day yet somehow I can't recall him being around during the ceremony or during the reception (in my opinion that is a huge compliment!). If you are reading this and considering hiring Ryan for your event, take my advice and do it, you will not be disappointed.

Hire this man
Ryan was so amazing! He really captured all the important moments in the day, and I got so many beautiful candid shots. Ryan had no problem meeting the bridal party at the salon to take pics of us getting hair and makeup done, then made his way to the reception space to get pics of the setup ahead of the wedding, back to the beach house to get pics of everyone getting dressed, to the beach for the ceremony, pics after the ceremony, back to the reception space for all of those pics (dancing, cake cutting, laughing, hugs), THEN back to the beach for sunset pics, and finally the end of the reception and our wedding trolley pictures. This man would win at a step challenge for sure! Throughout the whole process he made wonderful suggestions, shared when he thought a picture I was thinking of wasn't going to work out, and gave me tips and tricks for the best pictures.
I am forever grateful to him, and the moments that he captured of our special day. I would recommend him over and over again to anyone getting married in the area. You only get one shot to get the right photographer (pun intended haha), and I'm so glad I picked the best! Thanks for everything, Ryan!

I highly highly recommend Ryan Smith Photography! Ryan is FANTASTIC!! Probably one of the sweetest guys ever. Super patient and very easy to work with. And his work is just phenomenal!! He captures the most beautiful photos and moments I didn’t even know he was there for or even remembering happening as your wedding day goes by so fast. He is so good at quietly following you and the groom around without even knowing or getting in the way lol. It seriously brought happy tears to my eyes after seeing the final product and all the photos. I’m truly blown away with his work and professionalism. Definitely hire this one!!!

Amazing photographer! Highly recommend!
My fiancé and I had such a wonderful time taking our engagement photos with Ryan Smith. Ryan is so wonderful to work with! He made both my fiance and I feel very comfortable during our photo session.. making it a breeze to just be ourselves and have fun! Beautiful memories captured!
We used Ryan Smith Photography for my daughter's wedding and I couldn't be more pleased. We faced many challenges trying to have a wedding during the COVID19 pandemic. While my daughter's wedding was nothing like she had imagined, Ryan was there to capture the day in an amazing way. Looking back, his attention to detail and flexibility to follow us throughout venue changes, number of guests, etc. made for a very special, intimate ceremony. The memories he made for us are beautiful!! Every shot (and there were hundreds) was perfect enough for display. The only downside is how do you choose your favorites when they are all beautiful! Highly recommend!

Ryan was amazing. So easy to work with before, during and after the wedding. I planned my sister's wedding from NJ and Ryan was so accommodating and helpful. I initially said she wasn't really into the typical wedding poses (older bride, very shy), but he got her to pose in ways we never thought she would, and in every picture she looks like she's having a fabulous time. The resulting photos are gorgeous - I can't say enough great things about Ryan. A definite recommend!!

Ryan Smith was such a pleasure to work with for our destination wedding! He had his classic pictures he took which I love, but also allowed and encouraged us to take other fun pictures as well. While it rained on our wedding day, he offered to take us back out for additional pictures, we were still able to capture some amazing pictures despite the weather! He was truly great to work with!

We only used him as a shooter, but he was still able to capture some excellent moments. Everyone has complimented on our wedding photos (saying they could be in a wedding catalogue). I wanted to do a surprise proposal for my then girlfriend while we were at the beach with my family. I thought it would be nice to have someone there to capture that moment. So, I went to Google and Ryan was one of the first photographers I found. I was very impressed with all of his pictures and with what everyone had said about him in their testimonials. Ryan was very easy to work with while arranging the surprise session and knew exactly the best way to do it. Once we got there he knew the best places to take the pictures and made us feel so comfortable. His pictures are of such great quality and he had a super fast turn around! If you're looking for someone to take pictures around Myrtle Beach then this is your guy! I highly recommend him and hope to work with him again!

Ryan is AMAZING!!! We just had him for our ceremony and reception and he was such a great photographer. We haven't received our photos yet, but saw some on the blog and they are amazing! We just got married a week ago and he has already gotten to our photos. He was great at being flexible with our bridal party yet had a good eye for a shot.
His pricing was amazing, and he was so good at letting me know his expectations. Our guests were so pleased that he kept the pictures candid and was able to get ones they wanted too. He was not invasive and such a great talent! We cannot say enough about him. We will be going back to him for more and we live in VA!!!

Ryan is amazing! I have my own love of photography and have a wide assortment of professional equipment. Ryan took amazing photos. He had great ideas and did what ever I asked him to. He was on time had two camera's and wasn't fumbling around. He was dressed appropriately and was very professional. I wanted a group photo of the 50+ people that were at our wedding. He not only captured it perfectly everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. We had several small children at the event. Ryan had us laughing and I never thought about smiling, I didn't have to. He took typical photos and many I hadn't thought of. He captured a great moment of us all goofing around.
I was worried about how the pictures would come out. As a photographer I am very critical of others work. I hate pictures that look forced or poorly posed. Ryan took amazing shots. I have pictures of everyone that was there. He captured intimate moments that others might have over looked. He asked me multiple times if there were photos that I wanted or if I wanted pictures with certain people. He had plenty of creative ideas as well. At times he was invisible, as a great photographer should be, but captured everything. There is not one photo I wish we had. He managed to get the perfect view of us saying our vows, he captured my face and my husbands face separately as well as together. He has the moment we placed the rings on each others fingers. Absolutely nothing was missed.
He is amazing. I highly recommend him. When we are back in the Myrtle Beach area I am going to have Ryan to a family session at the state park. I haven't paid someone to take photos of my family in years, I've been doing them myself. I have finally found a photographer worthy of the job!

I have really enjoyed working with Ryan. He takes amazing pictures and is very flexible with timing and picture ideas. The quality of the pictures are great. He did our engagement pictures and wedding pictures and we hope, one day, we will return for family pictures. My only suggestion to future brides and grooms is this: make a list of the "must get pictures" and have it with you for the day of the wedding. Ryan suggested that to me, I had a list but forgot about it the day of the wedding. We did forget a few pictures I wanted but the ones we got are amazing and I'm very pleased with all of our pictures. There are so many great ones that I can't decide which ones I want to have printed :-) Not a bad problem to have !!

Ryan took wonderful photos at both our wedding and family gathering at the beach the very next morning. He was so great to work with and really got beautiful shots. I know it's difficult working with such a large group (my family made up 30 of the 45 ppl there), but Ryan handled us with such patience and professionalism. We couldn't have asked for anything better. I would absolutely recommend Ryan and will be in touch for future family photos in Myrtle Beach!

Ryan is absolutely wonderful! he is great to work with make picture taking a great experience, and he has such a great talent for photography, he know just how and when to capture that special moment on your special day!!!! My husband and i are so glad we chose Ryan to photograph our wedding day, when we look at the photos we feel like we are back to that special day!!!!

Outstanding shots & fun experience
We came from out of state for our wedding in Myrtle Beach and Ryan was an outstanding find for our engagement and wedding photos! Ryan was incredibly helpful and flexible right off the bat when we reached out. We scheduled an engagement photoshoot with Ryan a few months before the wedding to get to know him better and learn his style before the big day. Because we were unfamiliar with the area, Ryan helped us find a great location and delivered some of the most beautiful engagement photos I've ever seen in a very shot timeline (

Ryan was our photographer for our engagement pictures and wedding photos. It was good to do engagement pictures with him because it gave us a good idea of some wedding poses as well. His pictures are phenomenal. My whole family has mentioned to me how beautiful they were. I did have a list of photos to take around with us the day of the wedding, which I suggest to anyone with any photographer. So happy with my wedding photos!

I had a very bad experience using Ryan Smith as my wedding photographer.
The pros: There are some beautiful bridal portraits and photographs of my husband and I together.
The cons:
We do not have a single photograph of our entire bridal party, we do not have a single photograph of us with our families (not even with our immediate families let alone with our extended families). Some of my relatives who flew in from Canada to come to our wedding are not in any of the pictures. I don't have a picture of my dress. I don't even have a picture in my dress that is close up enough to see its details. We have maybe 3 photographs of the decor, but beyond that no photographs of the majority of the venue or decorations.
**If you use Ryan Smith, be sure to make a specific list and tell him EXACTLY which photographs are important for you to have AND when exactly during the evening you would like them taken. I made the false assumption that he is the photographer and should know what he is doing so I left it up to him to capture our big day. Very bad idea! I was so disappointed about everything that was missed.
When I asked Ryan about the photographs that were missed afterwards (unfortunately in all the chaos of the wedding I didn't realize we were missing all of those important pictures) he became extremely defensive and told me it was all my fault.
He also wrote a blog after my wedding saying that I was an uncooperative bride for not climbing the twisting tiny stairs of the light house in my high heels and wedding gown (this was before I had even walked down the aisle and did not want to rip my gown or fall) for one photo that he wanted to take. Very unprofessional.
