Word can’t express how beautiful my wedding was. Running Hare was absolutely amazing! The service was incredible, the ambiance was remarkable, and my guests were pleased.
We hosted almost 200 guests so it was a lot going on. However, the day of coordinators, bartenders and supporting staff handled everything with elegance and grace.
We sincerely thank them. And, would definitely recommend them!

We had the most magical experience at Running Hare for our October 2024 wedding! Having lived in Calvert County my whole life, I had no idea this gem of a venue existed until recently. Now it’s somewhere my husband and I love to go to, to listen to music + grab drinks, so we knew it was the perfect place for our special day!
The staff at Running Hare went above and beyond to make our wedding day flawless. Our coordinator Taylor was incredibly attentive, helping us through every detail of the planning process + keeping us organized.

We couldn’t have asked for a better location for our wedding. Running Hare made our day truly unforgettable, and we highly recommend it to any couple!

I have nothing but great things to say about Taylor and her team. Taylor and her team were super responsive with any question or request we had for our big wedding day. The day of planning on the venue was great despite having to move the ceremony indoors due to the rain. I highly recommend planning an event/wedding here. The wine, vineyard and staff are worth it !

The running hare is a breathtaking venue to host your wedding. My wife and I wanted a nature based vibe for our wedding and the running hare delivered. Our guests were amazed when they stepped into the winery. The staff also worked closely with us and were flexible to make sure our vision and needs were met. This was also the few vendors that could cater to our guest size.

Running Hare Vineyard is an absolutely stunning venue! The staff was incredibly helpful and willing to work with us to make sure our wedding day went smoothly. They are very easy to contact and work with. I would definitely recommend having your wedding at Running Hare Vineyard.

We had our sunset wedding at the pavillian. It was beyond beautiful and the view of the winery was spectacular. Venues event planner Talyor was amazing, very friendly and so helpful. This was the perfect place for our day.

Running Hare is so beautiful and I highly recommend this venue. My husband and I could not have imagined a more picturesque setting to get married in. My favorite spot at the venue is the garden tunnel where we did our first look because it is the most idyllic location. The Tuscan Events Center is huge and spacious, and all of the French doors open to the portico area so it is the perfect indoor/outdoor venue. My only negative thing to say is that when I was planning my wedding they did not have a hired wedding coordinator. The owner and GM were very responsive to all of my emails and still helped with my questions, but I didn’t know if I was going to have a day of coordinator until a few days before the wedding. They might have hired someone since then though, and I still highly recommend this venue because we had the most beautiful wedding we could have imagined!

Running Hare Vineyard was the absolute best wedding venue for my husband and I. From the first time we visited RH we knew it was something special and not like most venues. It is beyond beautiful. The Tuscan villa is not something you would normally find in Maryland. I would definitely recommend RH. It is not only beautiful but working with Kim and Taylor was pleasant. Taylor updated you on things and was timely with emails which created less stress for myself. I would give RH and the experience of having my wedding there 10/10!

We loved our wedding at Running Hare! Taylor was amazing throughout the entire planning process by reminding us when payments or details were due and giving us plenty of time to get it to her. It took away the stress of having to remember every little detail of our contract. They were responsive and helpful from the moment we showed up for a tour. The location is beautiful and everything looked perfect on our wedding day! Taylor even got a light fixed that we noticed was broken on the evening of our rehearsal. We saved so much money on decorations because of how beautiful the location is. My only negative is that they don't give you much time to get ready in their bridal room (2 hrs prior to ceremony), so you do have to make other arrangements for that.

Taylor at Running Hare Vineyard was very professional and responsive. She helped make my venue search easy and fun! I am very detailed oriented and like to check and double check logistical details. Taylor was very patient with me and answered all of my questions in a timely manner.

The venue speaks for itself! It is beautiful! I could not have picked a better location to have my ceremony and reception at. It went off without a hitch and my guests LOVED the wine.

Its is a great space, has pleasant staff and the Vineyard will provide an awesome backdrop for your professional photos. It made me feel like I was in Europe. If you are looking for elegance with a touch of rustic, then this is the right place for you. You won't be disappointed!

Running Hare Vineyard was the perfect place for our wedding. It was gorgeous and so convenient to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at on venue. The bridal suite was absolutely adorable as well. They had great recommendations for vendors and everything went perfectly. Taylor was so easy to work with and very responsive with all of our questions leading up to the wedding day!

We got married on June 2, 2019, and we both agreed that we couldn't have chosen a better place to get married. The venue was simply beautiful, and all our guests agreed that Running Hare and the wedding was gorgeous. As other brides/grooms have mentioned, there is plenty of parking next to the ceremony site and a walkway leading up to the reception site. The Bridal Suite was also an added plus, and the timeline went without a hitch. You do need to purchase wine, but the Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio, and Rose were well-loved by our guests.

Taylor was wonderful to work with, and I highly recommend using Ken's Creative Kitchen as the caterer (on their approved vendors list). Trust me, you won't regret it.

I do want to mention to brides that if you are having a June outdoor wedding in Maryland to be prepared for the chance of rain! We got lucky and were able to avoid the rain during the ceremony (we got the lucky rain and a rainbow during the reception!), but the forecast definitely had me stressed leading up to the date!

Our wedding at Running Hare Vineyard on April 27, 2019 was amazing! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful! We used the pergola to have an outdoor ceremony and then went into the Tuscan Villa to have the indoor cocktail hour/reception - we had the best of both worlds! There was enough parking for all 110 guests and even though there was another wine event at RH. The other band did not play 30 minutes before our wedding and we didn't hear a peep during or after our ceremony.

The management was great. Taylor was a joy to work with always answering questions even when she was off. She was there the day of just to make sure that everything ran smoothly. For the price you can't beat it.

The Villa was amazing to use as well. We had an 8-piece band, photo booth, cake area, and 4 food stations, 110 guests and there was plenty of room to move around.

The best part was that our dog (chocolate Lab) was allowed to be on the property at the ceremony to be the ring pup. RH worked with us to allow him to get pictures at the end as well.

The pictures were great and the entire event was amazing.

Running Hare Vineyards has the best of both worlds. A quaint outdoor spot for an intimate ceremony and an indoor reception area with breathtaking views. The portico was a great place for the pre-reception cocktail party. The views of the vineyard from the reception villa are amazing, especially with the sun setting.

We just got married last Saturday! It was cold and sunny the day of but it was still beautiful. I highly recommend getting married here in the fall because the foliage made the pictures and video that much better.

There is literally no word in the English language that I can use to properly embody this venue!! It is simply breath taking and such a dream to be married in the vines of the vineyard and celebrate your nuptials in the Tuscan Villa. Accompanied by the GORGEOUS chandelier that is literally out of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Phantom of the Opera" combined!

Taylor, the site manager, is an absolute joy to work with and really makes sure all of your questions and needs are met. She weaved in and out the day of the ceremony only popping up when you realized you needed her and was ready to do anything you need!

Seriously, book this venue. It will be the talk of your guests for MONTHS. It was a non stop discussion of how beautiful the venue was and how smoothly everything was orchestrated with their list of recommended vendors. It literally was my dream venue for our wedding day!

Running Hare Vineyard was the perfect venue for us. A little piece of Tuscany secretly nestled in suburbia, the venue and ceremony site are incredibly gorgeous. When we first booked in 2016, Barb answered all of our questions and allowed us a tasting after we booked. The wedding coordinator is now Maura and she is amazing. She took us through another tour with family, a final walk through, and tastings for family as well! She also worked through my many questions and requests and was SO easy to work with throughout the wedding process. Our first look occurred in the new beautiful, (tastefully) overgrown grape vine arbor - we couldn't have chosen a more beautiful and intimate spot. The vineyard was in full bloom for all of our pictures, and I can't wait to see them! Overall, this venue was perfect for us on our big day.

Running Hare was an amazing venue. They were willing to give me as many tours as needed and were extremely accommodating.

Running Hare was the first and only wedding venue that we visited. I fell in love with it. They made planning very easy and recommended the perfect caterer to help make our wedding day perfect. You have to buy 4 cases of wine but we didn’t mind. Our guests drink lots of wine and the caterer made a delicious sangria with their Jack Rabbit red. It was a magical day and worth every penny.

Our experience with Running Hare Vineyard for our daughter's wedding on Saturday, November 12, 2016 was amazing. The ceremony site was so beautiful with the fall foliage as the backdrop. The main events building set the stage for the Tuscan vibe that the happy couple was seeking. The uplighting made for a welcoming atmosphere for family and friends in attendance. The Riesling and Sangiovese wines complimented the meal perfectly. Barbara was amazing. She answered every question I had in a timely fashion. From our first wine tasting at Running Hare we were in love with the place. It is beautiful and secluded, and we could not have been any happier with our ceremony and reception. Barb was amazing to work with, always responsive and caring. MD Country Caterers is their exclusive vendor and they were top notch! Me and my husband Robb loved Running Hare Vineyard since the moment we first looked at it for our venue! We didn't even take 24 hours to make a decision before we reached out to Barb to reserve for our date! Even better is we can continue to visit as our special place. Barb was great! She always responded quickly whenever there was a question we had. Everyone took such great care of us. Maryland country caterers was amazing from day 1. They went above and beyond and I can't thank them enough for taking such good care of us and preparations. Barb also had many amazing vendor recommendations. We were married here 1 week ago and it was absolutely beautiful. I couldn't picture a better place to get married! Highly recommend for a wedding venue!

My husband and I recently got married at Running Hare and perfection describes every moment of our wedding; from the flowers, food and decor I wouldn't have changed a thing. The landscape of this venue is unlike anything else you are going to find in Southern Maryland. It's a hidden gem! The entire planning process was seamless with the knowledge owner Barb Scarborough was able to offer. I planned my entire wedding in one month a task that seemed impossible at first. I would have never of been able to pull off my wedding in such short notice without the amazing staff from Maryland Country Catering and Running Hare Vineyard.

We absolutely LOVED everything about Running Hare Vineyard. We had made several site visits prior to seeing RHV and had a few more in mind, but after our initial visit and meeting with the owner Barb, we knew this was the place for us. Running Hare exclusively works with Maryland Country Caterers, which is often a turn off for a venue, but after speaking with Dave of MCC for the first time on the phone I felt completely at ease with working with them. Barb was absolutely fantastic work with -- very kind and enthusiastic, always professional and quick to respond to any emails or phone calls. I also had every bride's worst nightmare -- 100% heavy rain in the forecast for your wedding weekend. As soon as I knew it would be inevitable that there would be at least some rain on our big day, Barb and our amazing team of vendors (which was predominantly comprised of Barb's recommendations) went straight to work in contacting one another to work out a plan to make everything wonderful and reached out to me to let me know they had everything covered and not to worry... and boy did they deliver! While we still got a bit of outdoor photos, we opted to have the ceremony indoors so our guests were sure to be comfortable and they did such a brilliant job of making the indoor ceremony magical and gorgeous. It was definitely better than anything I would have imagined after having to make the call to opt out of their gorgeous outdoor site. We adore the entire Running Hare Vineyard and extended team and can't wait to visit again this summer to enjoy the scenery and atmosphere some more.

There are not even enough words to describe the beauty of RHV! Our wedding day was everything we could have ever wanted! Barb was very attentive and helped us make big decisions regarding wine selections, she got us everything we needed for the wedding day! The first time I visited this venue it was raining, and it was beautiful. I thought to myself, if this place is still gorgeous in the rain then it would be just as lovely no matter what the weather on the big day. And on the big day the weather gods smiled down on us and all of our guests gushed over the site. The vineyard is perfection. The patio provides views over the grape vines, rose bushes, and lavender all while being covered in case a storm pops up. The ballroom is open and spacious; the space, inside and out, practically decorates itself.

We met with the owner, Barbara, who won us over within a minute - giving a lot of personal attention and making us feel like we've known her for years. It made it easy to trust her and to work with her.

We only went to one other vineyard afterour first visit and there was no comparison. We had to use Running Hare and we had no regrets. We live almost an hr and a half away but drove down serveral times just to enjoy the wine and scenery. This will be a place I look forward to going back to now that the deed is done!

They work exclusively with Maryland Country Caterers and while some people may find this restrictive, I truly found them to be the dream team. There was nothing they couldn't or wouldn't do to make our dreams happen and for that I am so grateful. I cannot recommend them enough. My guests were blown away, as were we. I may be bias... but I think it was the best wedding I've ever been to!

Words can't express how happy we are to have selected Running Hare to celebrate the Union of our marriage with our family and friends. The vineyard is absolutely breathtaking and Barbara was so sweet and wonderful to work with. Our wedding day was amazing and working with the exclusive catering company was a dream. They also helped make our wedding day unforgettable. We recommend Running Hare not only for their wine but for anyone who is looking for the perfect venue. We couldn't have asked for more!

Where can I begin...there are so many wonderful things to say about RHV. I had been to RHV for public wine tastings and events many times before venue searching, and so I knew about the vineyard already and its beauty. However, I had known a few couples who had gotten married there and initially wanted to look elsewhere to be "different." My husband and I visited nearly ten venues all over the MD/VA/PA area, but there was always something that wasn't quite perfect. Finally, I decided to consider RHV since we were both exhausted from searching. RHV may have been our final resort, BUT it's safe to say we saved the best for last. I had never met Barbara before, but she was the sweetest thing. Even before leaving our initial consult, I knew it was where we wanted to get married, despite my initial reservations. Of course we chose the venue in our backyard after weeks of searching elsewhere!

Throughout the planning process, Barb was so accommodating and helpful with all our questions. We originally booked a date for October 2016, but due to some personal family events, we decided to move the date up to April. Barb never hesitated in helping us choose a new date, and it made us so relieved that we didn't have to worry about having to find a different venue to accommodate our new timeline.

The venue itself is so picturesque; you'll never believe you're in southern MD. The reception hall is beautiful, as well. All our out-of-town guests couldn't stop talking about how lovely everything was.

We just had our wedding at the Running Hare Vineyard on April 30, 2016 and it was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined! This was the first vineyard we visited when we were still deciding on a venue early on in the planning process. It literally took our breath away. We pretty much decided that we were going to have our wedding here as soon as we stepped out the car, and was sold at the end of our first meeting with Barb. We had a list of vineyards to visit that day, but at the end of the day, they all paled in comparison and we sealed the deal with Barb soon after.

Barb was an absolute pleasure to work with. Quick to respond, transparent, and super sweet to top it off. During our first meeting, she gave us a cheat sheet with recommended vendors which turned out to be very helpful in the planning process. Barb only works with the best so it made finding the other vendors much easier. She has an exclusive partnership with Maryland Country Caterers and while some may find that restrictive, we personally found that it made our lives easier since we didn't have to shop around for one. Plus, the catering company was amazing! Will write a separate review for them but they seriously took a lot of stress away from us. We truly had a spectacular, heart warming wedding at this vineyard. We received many compliments from our guests who were floored by the picturesque views, delicious food, and stellar service.

We would highly recommend the Running Hare Vineyard to any couple looking for a charming venue for what we felt like was a very reasonable value!!

We could not have been happier with our choice of wedding locations. We loved it from the minute we drove up the vineyard road and saw the beautiful views. Running Hare Vineyard exceeded our expectations! We had an October wedding and the weather was perfect. Barb helped us pick a ceremony time that was timed with the sunset. It was beautiful! Our guests had an amazing time and are still talking about the location! We felt it was well-priced for everything that you get.

This was the wedding of our dreams. We booked this venue three years in advance because we loved it so much. Barbara and Maryland Country Caterers were so easy to work with. Everything went smoothly and they constantly stayed in communication with us throughout the planning period. It rained on our wedding day, but the whole experience was still amazing. While this venue was only an hour from my home, majority of my relatives and friends stayed for the weekend because it felt like a destination wedding. We received nothing but compliments about the venue and staff. Thank you again!

I cannot express enough how glad I am that we found this vineyard. It’s obviously been designed specifically with weddings in mind, and Barb was fantastic to work with. After visiting, the other locations we saw (mostly pricy hotel venues in DC, and a few other vineyards) just didn’t stand up. When she mentioned that, almost a year and a half out!! that her May dates were almost entirely booked, we decided to sign and send our deposit.

I should note that we saw the Running Hare in December and still fell in love with it; it only gets better when the flowers start blooming. Barb kept promising us so many things – beautiful vines, rose bushes, fantastic summer lighting – and at the time I accepted she was probably exaggerating. I was wrong!!! Even the pictures of the venue don’t do it justice for how pretty the day of our wedding actually turned out. Capping each vine row with a red rose bush makes the whole scene look like a post card picture. Our guests were practically bewildered by the gorgeous vineyard.

There are some aspects that we loved that others might find limits their flexibility – she only allows one caterer, the Maryland Country Caterers. And weddings are recommended to begin at 6PM so you don’t compete with the wine tasting crowd (which is HUGE in May/June). We planned an evening wedding, so that didn’t bother us. And let me take a moment to gush – the Maryland Country Caterers are simply amazing! They do all the prep, set-up, clean-up, you name it they do it. Linens and centerpieces and decorations, done! Dave and Jennifer literally bent over backwards to make sure everything was exactly the way I wanted it, still within my budget. Their staff is well trained and incredibly courteous and professional. Plus they’re so familiar with the venue, it was clear they all knew exactly what to do. As far as package deals go, this is the best!

RHV really worked with me! Excellent location the ONLY thing I wish was different was if they allowed a choice of caterers.

There aren't enough positive things that I can say about Barbara and the team at Running Hare Vineyard. My husband and I just got married there two weeks ago (March 14) and the only negative thing I can really say is that the rain forced us to have the entire event inside - which honestly was my biggest nightmare - yet still, it came out great! I booked the venue over the summer (June 2014) and I bothered Barbara ALL year with a million questions and concerns and she always answered right away and always made me feel like all my concerns were very important (even though most were silly, lets be honest - neurotic brides!). The venue requires you to purchase a minimum of 4 cases of wine from the vineyard - this came out to be rather expensive (over $1K), but the venue rental itself is VERY reasonable, especially in comparison to other venues surrounding the DC area, so it's absolutely worth it. Plus, the wine is delicious and if you run out during the reception it's on site to order more.

Prince Frederick itself isn't the greatest town (sorry, Barb!) but Solomon's Island isn't very far away, and there is a lot of local hiking and a golf course, so there's enough to keep guests occupied throughout the weekend. Very happy we had our wedding at the Running Hare - beautiful venue all around!

This venue is out of this world beautiful. Choosing Running Hare was the easiest decision I made during the wedding process. The only issue we had was that its popularity made it difficult to get a date and it was a little pricey.It was worth every penny though. I do not think there are more breathtaking places in MD that are so picturesque and elegant. I just love Barbara Scarborough. She is the cutest, nicest lady and I got to know her fairly well during the wedding planning. She even stopped by the day of my wedding to say hi! She had so many great recommendations and the way she designed that place was brilliant and she really designed it to be a perfect wedding location to meet everyone’s needs. The whole event was full of smooth transitions which, I have found, is invaluable when planning a wedding. My wedding guests loved wine tasting and beer tasting prior to the wedding and the weather was absolutely perfect. I have since had several people ask me the name of my venue because they are recommending it to friends. This place is perfect.

My wife and I were determined to have our wedding at a vineyard in Maryland, but we were frustrated when we found that all vineyards in Maryland only allow you to serve wine and not beer/liquor....all except one that is. When we arrived at Running Hare, we knew immediately that it was the perfect place for our wedding. Barb and Mike were so accommodating, and they made us feel so comfortable with this decision.

Aside from the venue being drop-dead gorgeous, we loved that we chose early October for the ceremony. The sun was just setting after the ceremony, and the leaves were beginning to change. Everything looked amazing! It was a tad chilly, but we didn't mind that as much.

One last thing, I would highly recommend Mike's new beer selection. I went to the tasting area expecting an "okay" product in its inaugural year, but my whole wedding party was pleasantly surprised. Between the beer and the wine, Running Hare offers something for everyone, and I received no complaints from our guests (they all got a free tasting before the wedding!).

I would highly recommend this venue for a wedding, and want to thank Barb and Mike for their help in making our day as amazing as we had always dreamed!

When I began picturing my wedding, I loved the idea of being married in a vineyard with a breathtaking backdrop of picturesque scenery. And at Running Hare Vineyards, I found that my vision existed in real life.

Barb from RHV was warm, welcoming, and instrumental in helping me create our beautiful day! Our guests all RAVED about the outdoor ceremony, the event hall (reminiscent of a villa straight out of Tuscany), and, of course, the WINES!

You will love this venue. YOU. WILL. LOVE. THIS. VENUE. One look at where you could be walking down the aisle to meet your partner, under the shimmering chandelier where you'll have your first dance, or out across the once-in-a-lifetime view from the portico after your evening has ended, and you'll see why this place is absolutely perfect for weddings.

Running Hare Vineyard is a spectacular venue, especially in the summer with all of the plants in bloom. The ceremony area in the middle of the vineyard is an extremely romantic and beautiful spot.The view of the vineyard from the portico is amazing. Barbara, the woman who runs Running Hare, is very helpful and responsive.

The venue does have a required caterer, Maryland Country Caterers, but they are excellent and very professional. The venue and the caterer are both somewhat expensive, but you get your money's worth, as they do a tremendous job. Running Hare also requires you to use their wine, but it's good and some of our guests actually went back the next day to buy bottles.

For any guests who arrive early there is an outdoor tasting area where they can enjoy a free wine tasting before the ceremony begins.

There were only two real minor drawbacks with the venue: (1) the path from the road to the reception hall is unpaved and narrow, which makes it a bit treacherous (though no one in our group had any trouble with it); and (2) the lack of a room for the bridal party to get ready in.

I'd strongly recommend Running Hare for anyone in the DMV area, especially if you're looking for something outdoors or with a rustic feel. We were incredibly happy with our experience.

We couldn't have been happier with the Running Hare as our wedding location! Barb was very helpful and accommodating, and was responsive whenever I had a question about the grounds or decorations. The vineyard itself was beautiful! We did a tasting the day before the wedding, and many guests came early to the wedding to do a tasting, and we received many compliments on the quality of the wine and the general atmosphere. Also more affordable than comparable venues in the area. Would recommend to anyone looking for a vineyard wedding close to DC!

RHV is an amazing location to have your event! Barbara and her staff are also amazing. Once everything was set up, the day of my wedding it was beautiful!! RHV is so pretty in the spring and summer. It is also very affordable for a wedding venue! I would highly recommend RHV to anyone if they are looking for an event space! Also if you have time and want to get away for the day or afternoon, go to the wine tasting. They have an amazing wine selection, and they are very tasty!!

This venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I fell in love with it the first time I did a wine tasting here (their wine is delicious!!). Barbara, the owner, is so sweet, very helpful and quickly responded to any questions I had. Their exclusive caterer, Maryland Country Caterers, were great as well...great food and excellent service. Everyone definitely went out of their way to make sure our day went perfect! A big thank you to Barbara and MCC!!

Running Hare Vineyard is a beautiful location to have your wedding. We had both our reception and ceremony there. When you are there, it does not feel like you are in Maryland at all, but instead in a secluded beautiful gem. We worked with Barbara, and she was always very responsive and great to work with. All of our wedding guests loved this location. This venue does have a required caterer that you must use, but that was only a bonus. The caterer is just as wonderful! The prices for using this venue are very comparable to others in the area, and often times even better. And for how gorgeous this location is, it is worth every penny.

Running Hare is one of the most stunning wedding venues we have ever seen. RHV was the second venue we visited and we fell in love with it. We compared every venue we saw after to it. We were so happy when we booked it and kept reminding ourselves how amazing the venue was. The property is absolutely gorgeous and was carefully planned to accentuate a wedding perfectly. Barb was super helpful whenever I had a question (and I had many). Although we planned to have the ceremony outside, near the vines, unfortunately, it rained and we unable to. The events building is so beautiful and so versatile that were able to have our wedding pictures taken under the patio by the arcs and the pictures turned out beautifully! The ceremony was indoors and since the space is so large, it felt perfect. It did not feel like a back-up plan at all. This is truly a hidden gem and we were so fortunate to have our wedding at Running Hare Vineyard!

Outstanding! My husband and I held our wedding reception on June 8, 2013 at the Running Hare Vineyard. Due to high demand, we were blessed that there was an opening for us at this beautiful, Tuscan inspired venue! Our guests still talk about how much they enjoyed the reception. Since my husband and I are the last to marry in our families, we needed a child-friendly environment. We wanted the children to have fun, yet we wanted to create a sophisticated atmosphere. After the cake cutting, we invited all the men out on the terrace for scotch and cigars -the women soon joined them! Best part: The owners were low stress, tentative, easily assessable and the venue was very affordable! Our pictures are beautiful! We are so happy!

This was a dream venue!!!! My husband and I were looking for a unique venue that offered an indoor/outdoor option. We went through several vendors with absolutely no luck. While searching online one day, I stumbled across the Running Hare website and instantly fell in love! The view is breath-taking, and my husband and I loved that the outdoor ceremony site was actually in the vineyard!!! In addition to the amazing venue, the owners are such caring and easy-going people! Barb is extremely easy to work with, and she is so helpful with the planning process. I never had a hard time getting in touch with Barb if I ever had a question or concern. Almost all of my guests came from out of town and needed over-night accommodations, and we were able to book hotels within 3 miles of the vineyard. Prince Frederick is a really cute area with lots of food and site-seeing, so a lot of people came down for the whole weekend! Everyone absolutely loved the vineyard :) And the pictures from the wedding are AMAZING!

We were looking for an Italy/Tuscan feel for our wedding, and Running Hare nailed it. It was the first place we saw, and booking was probably the easiest decision we made throughout the entire planning process.

Pros -
- Barb was amazing from the get-go - very responsive.
- Pricing was competitive compared to the two other places we considered.
- They're continually making improvements to the site.
- Running Hare offers a choice between two caterers - both competitively priced. Barb also provided recommendations for almost all of our other vendors, most of who we selected and were very happy with.
- The view!! Our guests were so impressed with the venue.

Cons -
- We were lucky enough to have our ceremony outside (said "I Do" about 3 minutes before a downpour that lasted all night), but having the ceremony in the reception hall wouldn't be quite as magical.
- There's no "bridal room" in the venue - my MOH had to bustle my dress out on the portico, and I didn't have anywhere other than the bathroom to touch up my makeup.

I'd 100% recommend Running Hare, our experience was nothing but positive.

Every father’s dream is that his daughter’s wedding is as perfect as it could possibly be. The venue, the catering, the arrangements and the coordination has to be fined tuned to perfection. I made the wisest decision selecting the Running Hare Vineyard (RHV) as the venue for Natalia and Han’s wedding. RHV is a piece of paradise that was stolen and hidden within the greenery of Prince Frederick, MD. We picked a good date as the weather was sublime. As we stood in the pergola, we were surrounded by red roses and the grape vintage which also witnessed the wedding vows as pronounced by Reverend Mary Rahall. The setting, so suitable and so perfect like extracted from a romance novel. The wines selected, Pinot Grigio and Malbec were exquisite and were complimented by all the guests.
I must add that the venue was well complemented by David Benson and Maryland Country Caterers. What a 1-2 knockout punch it turned out to be. Seventy five percent of the coordination was right there in the hands of you two and it turned out to be a very wise and savvy decision. I am still in awe of how well the hall was decorated, how awesome everything was coordinated. The tables, linens, dishes, silverware and the colors were magnificent. The food was exquisite and the ambiance that progressively dominated the night was just the result of what David Benson had masterminded based on our requests. However, what made the night was the quality and attentions provided by Md. Country Caterers’ staff, specifically Ms. Tabathe Canter. During the entire evening, we were treated like royalty. We were pampered, spoiled and treated with such attention and detail that it made a wonderful evening into a memorable one. I recommend Maryland Country Caterers and Reverend Mary Rahall to officiate the wedding’s ceremony, she is a very sweet lady and was very accommodating. Running Hare Vineyard was the perfect place to hold a wedding. The views were stunning, the venue was beyond beautiful, and the reception hall was perfectly decorated for a wedding. Barb the owner was very professional to work with and I appreciated her personal touch of stopping by at the wedding and wishing me and my husband the best. The location was incredibly romantic and my family has said that they will be talking about this venue for a long time. I loved how we were able to get married amongst the vines and walk in the vineyard for pictures. It was a beautiful and unique location as many vineyards don’t allow you to walk in between the rows of vines. This is a wonderful location and I would recommend it to everyone.

Where to start .... the whole experience was absolutely wonderful. RHV is absolutely the venue where dreams come true. Barb truly cares about her brides and their big days. This care shows in the great details of the building and ceremony site. She is highly responsive on email and phone for questions or concerns. She has a absolutely fantastic listing of vendors in which are held to high standards and expectations.

If you are looking at vineyards I would more than highly encourage you to visit RHV in person to tour the facility. You will feel that you have a private vineyard and your day will be stunning.

My wife and I could not have asked for a more perfect location to get married. From the day that we set eyes on the vineyard, to include the ceremony site among the vines, and the amazing Tuscan events center - we knew that we would get married there.

Barb Scarborough is an amazing person who ensures that every single detail and need that a bride and groom can come up with is dutifully attended to. Barb is responsive to every single question via e-mail, phone, or any other way you can think of to touch base with her.

There is a great outdoor tasting room where your guests can go for a wine tasting before the ceremony, The vineyard staff there are ready to help with every need. Be sure to try all of the wines - they are all amazing in their own right and there is something for everyone.

The location of the ceremony site is perfect - it's situated on top of a beautiful knoll surrounded by vines and rose bushes at the end of each row of vines. The ceremony is performed under a pergola and there is a wine barrel perfect for your unity ceremony. There is power and an umbrella for your DJ or musician to perform from. A long and beautiful aisle surrounded by olive trees for the bride to walk down makes it all the more amazing. To top that - there is one of the most beautiful gates at the back of the site to help keep the bride out of sight from the groom until the time comes for the ceremony.

As far as the events center where we held our reception - there is only one word to describe it. WOW. In all of the weddings that we've attended over the years - neither of us has seen a more beautiful, immaculate, and perfect venue. Barb ensures that everything is perfect - to include the HUGE chandelier that is above the dance floor. There is a great bar inside, and there is a covered portico that is just right for wedding guests to hang out and mingle during cocktail hour.

There is nothing else like this - it's "The One!"

In my mind, I could not have found a better venue to have my wedding at. My husband and I both love wine, and visited Running Hare after a recommendation from someone at Wine in the Woods last year. We had looked at 3 other venues, but wanted to look at a few others before making a decision. The day we met Barb, we were sold! The people there are so friendly, and Barb is very on top of things! Our guests are still telling us it was the most beautiful wedding they've ever been to. The wine is wonderful, and the views are amazing! It holds a special place in our hearts not just because we had our wedding there, but because it is truly one of the few places you can go to and completely relax, enjoy company with others, good wine and a beautiful day.

What struck me about the venue was it's simplistic beauty. (Okay, except the incredible chandelier...there is nothing simple about that impressive work of art!!) The vineyard itself is set on rolling hills, surrounded by lush foliage. Even in February (when we first visited) and March (the wedding month), I knew the location was the perfect backdrop for the biggest day of my life. My fiance loved that it seemed so secluded, despite being mere minutes from the center of Prince Frederick (very clsoe to hotels, stores, and restaurants...for those guests who don't want to have to drive too far).

RHV is an absolutely stunning venue with an even more stunning proprietor. Barb was such a pleasure to work with in planning our big day. She went out of her way to schedule a meeting with us, as she knew we were driving in from 2 hours away. Barb is a prompt and efficient email communicator, and responds to voicemails almost as quickly.

You must use one of two caterers pre-approved by Barb, and we went with Canard's Catering, owned by Lisa Kelly. Clearly Barb knows good business(wo)men when she meets them, because Lisa was the perfect coordinator and caterer for our day.

Your guests will be planning their next visit to RHV before they elave. Guaranteed!

We absolutely loved Running Hare Vineyard from the moment we stepped foot on the property, all the way through our wedding experience (married in September 2012), and afterwards as well. Barb Scarborough is such a pleasure to work with and she's selected a wonderful team, both on-site and off-site, to help make your special day more perfect than you ever imagined possible. My husband and I are so excited to have chosen this beautiful spot to always call our special place. We live in a different part of Maryland, so it will always be a place we feel like we can visit and reminisce about the many wonderful memories we have already made there and the many more to come. I would highly recommend Running Hare for any event you have in mind, but most especially for a wedding. The vineyard is beautiful (especially during the height of the season), the staff is very professional and helpful, and the vendors are amazing, too. When both of my parents were brought to tears by the beauty and privacy of Running Hare Vineyard, we all knew it was meant to be. I felt like I was in Italy or California for my planning process as well as the wedding day itself. Vineyard owner Barb was available and responsive throughout the entire wedding process, and we were able to have our other vendors join us or visit alone to prepare for our wedding day, which made our event details play out exactly as we wished. The simplicity and elegance of the vines (with grapes still on!), trees , endless rolling hills and blue skies, paired with the Vineyard's tasteful (and practical) structural additions provided a backdrop to our day that left our guests breathless. The venue supported our 180 guests, from co-workers seeking a pre-ceremony wine tasting to family members needing a shorter or more comfortable walk to their seat. The Vineyard is conscious of privacy and making your day special. One of the perks for the bride is knowing that even if it rains, guests will have a blast having cocktails and appetizers on the patio before entering the beautiful events building for dinner and dancing. The events building fit our guests comfortably for a sit-down dinner and the perfectly sized dance floor hosted memories I couldn't have dreamt up myself. The wine, (Malbec ;Chardonnay;Pinto Grigio;Sangiovese (the four selections we made for our guests)) were ALL delicious. The value of the venue, in my opinion, is priceless. The unique privacy and outstanding beauty of the venue and the personable and caring touch of the staff truly made our day. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride looking to have an out-of-this-world ceremony and reception in an exquisite outdoor location in MD. Especially if you're into great food and great wine!!

Barbara was an absolute splendor to work with. She's very nice and flexible at allowing us access to the vineyard and the hall. It was well worth the money spent because we had a beautiful ceremony and reception and I received many compliments on Barbara's behalf from my family. Beautiful location!! Everyone said it feels like you're in Napa Valley. And if you don't have a wedding coming up then I recommend going for a wine tasting, you wont be disappointed.
The only thing that I disliked about the vineyard was the price of the wine. We had a specific number of cases we HAD to buy for the amount of guests we had but they still charge by the bottle. There's no case price or a wedding discounted price, which I really think there should be. Other than that it was a perfect venue.

Running Hare Vineyard is a beautiful and ideal venue for a wedding! Considering that I am 100% Italian, Running Hare gets an A+ on all accounts. Its events building, landscaping, and of course fine wine gives you the authentic feel of Tuscany. The fine details and overall atmosphere is unique and can't be found at most venues. It's pretty rare to hear of couples getting married at a "vineyard" so it makes for a great location to rave about!

Barb and her staff are great to work with; they suggest ideas and make you feel comfortable and at ease during the planning process. They respond quickly to emails and phone calls and are flexible with their availability.

One of my favorite things about getting married there is that I am able to come back and visit, have a glass of wine, and reminisce about our special day!

Running Hare Vineyard was the perfect venue for my daughter's wedding. We used the vineyard for both the ceremony and reception, because Barb Scarbourough, owner, has thought of everything! From a pathway outside to the ceremony site (and power for microphones and muscians)-- to outside speakers on portico for cocktails and the large, open and beautiful ballroom (no site line problems) -- it is an amazing space. The natural beauty cannot be matched and our guests felt like we had transported them to the Italian countryside for the day! Barb recommended Canard's Catering to us and Lisa Kelley did an incredible job for us. If I ever have a chance to use Running Hare Vineyard again--I would definitely do it.

I have nothing but positive reviews. The venue is a must see! The vineyard allows you to escape to an exotic place; you definitely don't feel like you are in Calvert County.

RHV was an absolute fantastic venue for my dream wedding. It was the first venue we looked at... and we put the deposit down that day. This was before the new venue building was even complete! We instantly fell in love. I would recommend it to any interested brides. It has been five months and my family and friends still rave about our wedding. Barb was great to work with. I used several of her "recommended vendors" and was beyond pleased.

When you think of Vows In The Vineyard, there is no more perfect a place to express this, then Running Hare Vineyard. The property is absolutely gorgeous with a twist of shabby chic and sophistication. The views are amazing and will put you in the middle of a perfect dream. Our wedding ceremony & reception will forever be remembered by our guest as THE most beautiful and romantic event. Barb & Mike, the proprietors are wonderful to work with and Barb's vision of the perfect wedding was carefully laid out in the architectural design and flow of the outdoors ceremony location up to the breathtaking reception/events building. Advice for future brides - you will not regret choosing RHV as your event location.

The venue is more than just a venue it is a hidden jewel, not for long though! We were so lucky to find Mike and Barb when we did because the venue was more than we could have ever imagined for our wedding day. The property is so dynamic that our wedding pictures look like we were flown right into Tuscany, Italy. Even if you dont have an opportunity to marry there, go visit the winery for a glass of wine and enjoy the sunflower fields! RHV will always have a special place in our hearts :)

The Running Hare Vineyard far exceeded any thoughts/expectations we had when we were planning our wedding. We looked at many outdoor venues and none of them came even close to the RHV. The ceremony was beautiful, the views stunning, and the party perfect. It really was dream like.

We were very happy to be able to extend the hours of our party to be able to enjoy a longer cocktail hour at the portico. Many of our guests came earlier to enjoy the wine tasting. My husband and I chose to do out pictures before the ceremony. Which allowed us to spend more time at the party. We were able to look over from the reception hall as people arrived for the tasting and gathered for the ceremony, and this one of many beautiful moments throughout the night.

I would not think twice about having a celebration here.

At first we did not know how we felt about having an exclusive caterer, but as we went through the process it became so clear why Barb did this. MCC are amazing! We are foodies, and everything was delicious! We were not very picky about how everything got set up, and we had no experience planning an event of this size. MCC made everything seem like a piece of cake, and essentially acted as wedding planners, taking care of EVERYTHING we didn't even know had to be taken care of. Had we spent hundreds of hours trying to figure out the small stuff, we still wouldn't have done a better job. Everyone was absolutely fabulous and made our party perfect. I heard from many people that leading up to the wedding we seemed like the most relaxed couple they had ever seen, and I know that it was because we had the best possible vendors. Thanks so much!!!

Our wedding day was the most magical day of our lives thanks to Running Hare!!! The setting couldn't have been more beautiful, and we lucked out on our wedding day weather. The ceremony site along with the porch for cocktails was stunning. Our expectations were truly blown away and it was so great having the whole vineyard to ourselves. It really did feel like we were in the middle of Tuscany. Everything ran smoothly and Barb was always available to answer questions. I do think they could have been more flexible on when vendors were able to arrive and set up during the day since you are the only wedding for the day. The price for additional time (We really needed that extra hour!) is a little steep as well. I would also suggest working with Maryland Country Caterers (one of two caterers to choose from). They were amazing!!! They worked well together and the food/decor looked fabulous. I wouldn't have changed a single thing about our day, and we are so thankful we chose Running Hare as our venue! (Not to mention all our guests just raved about it)!!

This place is beautiful and we really loved getting married there among the vines! Barb is wonderful to work with and we really love it there!

I grew up in Maryland but my husband and I met in Italy so Running Hare Vineyard was the perfect venue for us! It really feels like you are in Tuscany. The vineyard and the brand new ceremony site are beautiful!

The ambiance was made our day beautiful making our fairy tale come to reality. The owners were so easy to talk to, communicate with and provided stellar vendor recommendations ! You can't go wrong !!!

Tip: When planning your wedding keep in mind the time of year, sunset and the time the tasting room closes to the public.

Beautiful venue for a great price as compared to others in the greater DC area. I was sold on this place as soon as I saw pictures online, and actually booked it without even seeing it in person after speaking with Barbara the owner. Only thing I think could have been better regarding the actual venue was that we had our wedding in early April and some trees weren't fully green, and I would have liked there to be roses bloomed (alas, none). However, the reception indoors is absolutely gorgeous and makes for beautiful pictures- also the weather was absolutely perfect! Originally I was worried about having too many guests but the venue (both indoors and outdoors) easily accommodated our 170 guests, without feeling crowded at all. I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a beautiful and classic ceremony and reception site for their wedding!

Such a BEAUTIFUL venue, I'm so glad our wedding was at Running Hare. September was the perfect time of year, with all of the flowers in bloom and grapes on the vines. It wasn't the cheapest option, but I think it was worth the cost. They were great to work with during planning. No complaints at all.

Running Hare is a beautiful venue! If looking for a vineyard wedding there isn't a better one in Maryland! The only downside is the limitations in the time of the timeline for the wedding. It basically has to be at 5pm with the reception ending at 10pm.

The RHV is an absolutely beautiful location for a wedding. We had both the ceremony and the reception there and it was truly magical. You felt like you were transported to Italy. It is beautiful,romantic and the service was top notch. I would be remiss if i didn't mention that you have a choice of two caterers at this site. An absolutely stunning venue. Nothing in Calvert County come close to compare. Its also one of our favorite places to visit when in Calvert County for wine tastings. The views of and from the Tuscan Villa, are breathtaking.

Running Hare Vineyard is a stunning spot to host a wedding. We are from St. Mary's County, MD and the vineyard made us feel as though we were hosting a destination wedding in the Tuscany region. The setting is phenomenal, the grounds are well kept, the picturesque scenery is breathtaking.

Barbara and her team were very helpful and organized in the planning process. She has a list of preferred vendors which made wedding planning easy. She was always an email or phone call away. The wine was super delicious and the wine tasting available to guests prior to the ceremony was enjoyable and a fun way to get the party started. I would recommend the vineyard to all my friends, family and strangers. In fact I am currently recruiting friends to get married there just so we can enjoy the party from a guests standpoint. You wont be disappointed when choosing Running Hare!

Overall, we had a great experience at Running Hare Vineyard for our wedding. The venue is beautiful, and the staff was helpful throughout the planning process. Our guests had a wonderful time, and the setting made for stunning photos and a memorable day.

That said, there were two small issues worth mentioning. First, the lights guiding guests back to their cars were out, which made it difficult for some people to navigate safely at the end of the night. Second, during our rehearsal, there were fold-up chairs left in the way, which made it a bit harder to run through everything smoothly.

Despite these minor hiccups, we would still recommend Running Hare Vineyard as a wedding venue — just a couple of details for them to keep an eye on moving forward.

Awesome Reception Venue! All the guests loved the vineyard and wines!

The Vineyard was gorgeous. The outdoor wedding space is spectacular . The people are nice . My only complaint and it’s a big one is that when I booked the place they said they were going to repaint the inside and do new carpet by the time our wedding happened it was not done. The inside is definitely not the best. The inside space needs a complete overhaul. I don’t appreciate people telling me one thing, and then not following through.

The venue is absolutely beautiful!!!!! My guests could not stop telling me how beautiful a venue Running Hare was. The venue is basically just a location, their exclusive caterer Maryland Country Caterers takes care of all the heavy lifting to make your day special.

Very expensive venue. The venue itself is beautiful and well maintained. Very spacious. The bar service was disappointing. We had to select Running Hare Wines and all four wines served were terrible. We complained to the bartender, but they continued to serve the wine. Also, the wine and mixed drinks were served in plastic cups. The bar package price was expensive, and this was just low class. I was not informed by the venue that they did not have glass barware. The venue did respond to our complaints after the wedding, but nothing could make up for the very bad tasting wine and serving wine and mixed drinks in plastic cups.
