This was the perfect venue for our uptown wedding. Gave the ambience for all types of guests: those that like to dance, and those that like to chill with an awesome backdrop of the city. Even better, we could bring our own alcohol, which further decreased costs. All of our guests loved it.

Roof with a View and Brent, Owner, were just perfect! My family did not want a place where we HAD to use their caterer, bar, music, etc. Roof with a View allows you to choose all of your own vendors and provide your own alcohol which saved us a ton of money! We were going for a simply southern romantic theme and it could not have been more perfect. Roof with a View is blank canvas so you can create your dream wedding :)

This space is so amazing. You can truly turn it into as much or as little as you want. This is a place where you really can control your budget. Bring in as much as you can and cut costs where you can. They'll let you do what you want! We hung tapestries, a chandelier, had a band, brought in couches and even used the downstairs lobby as reception area. The patio makes for gorgeous picutres too! I've been to several events there and its always a diffent experience. I transformed the space to be romantic and intimate with the city lights as our backdrop. I could not have asked for a better recpetion venue.

We had our reception at Roof with a view and it was so beautiful. The skyline through the windows and the lighting were gorgeous. We had plenty of space and we could really make the space look exactly how we wanted it to look. Brent was quick to respond to emails which was nice. He has a lot of rules to use his space and we could not use the original vendors we picked, but it worked out in the end and we were very happy about our decisions. He is very straightforward and does not sugar coat things which may be difficult for some people. We really enjoyed our night at Roof With a View!

Roof With a View was an amazing location for our wedding reception. The skyline view of Charlotte was the highlight of the venue, but the space itself was perfect for our reception. One thing we appreciated is that the tables and chairs are included, so it was nice to not have to worry about rentals. It truly is a blank slate, so you can make it your own, which makes it more flexible for the rest of the wedding budget! We just used the string lights that come with the rental, as well as candles at each table. Some reviews say the space is dark unless you provide your own lighting, but we really enjoyed the intimate setting of the string lights and candles. A lot of our guests liked having a few drinks on the patio and enjoying the view, while others had a great time on the built-in dance floor. We had a live band and full bar service, which both flowed seamlessly with the space.
We had about 190 guests, which was pushing the limit. If we had many more it would have felt too crowded at each table. We liked that the buffet space is separate from the dining/dancing area, so after the food was served it could be cleaned up without distracting from the festivities. It is worth noting that the kitchen facilities are limited, so be sure to use a catering company who is familiar with the requirements of the space. We used Jerri at Table Decor and More, who was wonderful to work with, and very knowledgeable about Roof With a View.
Brent was easy to work with, although he is very straightforward about the requirements and details. This might rub some the wrong way, but we appreciated his directness.
Overall a gorgeous space, with a stunning city view and an intimate setting. Made for a memorable and special evening with friends and family!

Roof With a View is an greatvenue. The pros: great space, to do with as you please. You can bring in your own alcohol, vendors, food, etc. And don't forget about the view!! The cons: Brent and his daughters' personalities are a little bland and matter-of-fact. He has certain rules (no sparklers, no confetti, etc) that he will not waiver on. Also, I was not a fan of the fact that he made us break the chairs down at the end of the night (told us this at the reception!! - that was a surprise) He also stood in a corner the entire night watching us, which was kind of strange.

Overall, great spot, great view...does require some work. Really is a blank canvas.

This is an amazing location if you want a fabulous view!!!! This is basically a white box rooftop loft space with a huge balcony, next to & overlooking Panthers stadium & Charlotte's uptown skyline!! Beautiful white lights line all the windows, which surround the space. Very pretty! Simply gorgeous views outside! Has a great dance floor & they will string paper lanterns over it for a fee. I think they need to spruce it up a bit, with some plants or wallcolor or artwork. It's a bit dated & a little too basic, so you have to get quite creative with decor & add a LOT of color!! We loved the space & so did our guests. You can't beat the view!

The Owner (Brent) is completely unreasonable & inflexible. He's very difficult to work with, not to mention, he needs to work on his people skills. He's NOT friendly, very straight up, to the point & will not bend on a thing! Very by-the-book & it's his way or no way. He has extremely riduculous time restrictions for access to his facility, which makes it really difficult for vendors & brides to work with for set up & delivery. We felt like we were nickel & dimed a lot. He also requires you to set up & break down your tables & chairs. He gives you a blank space & that's it. You're also told you cannot have GLASS beer bottles; he insists on cans, which are totally tacky for a classy reception; however you CAN have water glasses, beer & wine glasses, so I don't get it??? He needs to loosen up!

Roof with a View was the perfect venue for us - we got engaged at the Panthers stadium and wanted a wedding that really showcased the city of Charlotte since we had so many out of town guests. We knew we didn't want to be in the heart of Uptown though, so this venue was seemingly perfect! The view is outstanding! However, working with Brent was a little tough. Some days he was in a good mood, some days he was in a bad mood. He almost didn't let us use the caterer we wanted, even though he pitched we could use whoever we wanted. He said he wouldn't be there on our wedding day, but was the entire reception. For the most part, we were able to do what we wanted, but he wasn't the easiest to work with. He was slow to respond to emails and you always had to tell him who you were and what date you booked. A week out from the wedding he thought we were doing our ceremony there too, even though we had never even discussed that. Byron's South End is buying this property and I think it will be a HUGE upgrade! A full kitchen and cleaning up the patio area are some improvements I hope they make. I will be anxious to come to another wedding or event here in the future!

The venue is beautiful and spacious..that is all you get! You can turn it into a beautiful event..However working with Brent and his daughter was not a pleasant experience. They have no compassion , flexibility , and do not tell you things you need to know! Stick to their rules which are many and costly. You better read that contract ..they have a very unprofessional way of doing things..planning a wedding is a big deal and they made it more stressful! We had a wonderful time but sad to say it was in spite of them. Would not recommend unless they hire someone who cares! He tells the bride 6 weeks before her wedding we can't use our caterer who did events there previously! Thankfully we found one who did an awesome job but they also managed to upset our caterer the night of the event!

First let me start out by saying the view in this space is phenomenal. That is really all I can say that is positive about this venue. When searching for a venue for our wedding, we visited several places and really Roof With A View was the main contender. Brent, the owner, really sold us on the whole idea of being able to make the space our own, have our own creative freedom and bring in any of our own vendors, even alchohol, which really stood out. We were convinced, paid our deposit and looked forward to our special day in such a special venue. After we paid our deposit it became clear that Brent, the owner, could care less about us, our wedding or basically anything he told us in the initial meeting. There are stipulations as to who you can use for vendors so don't believe him when he tells you that you can bring in whoever you want. It is all about potential couples who haven't signed a contract or paid a deposit after you have, believe me. Those couples will get precidence over you if you need to be in the space or have questions that need to be answered. Also, be very aware that they are not going to do a thing for you, you must even put the raggedy chairs back after your wedding, which they told us the day of the wedding. The owner, Brent, even called me the morning of my wedding to tell me someone better get to the venue because they had things to do and we're going to be leaving and then we wouldn't be able to get in. Are you kidding me? He called 15 minutes before the scheduled time we were supposed to be there and then told me several times I misunderstood. If it weren't for the fact I was so elated to be marrying my best friend that day, I would have flipped out on him and told him just exactly what I thought. No one should treat someone with that kind of disrespect on their wedding day. Skip the nightmare and book somewhere else.

Don't bother booking at this venue. The owner just emailed me telling me they are closing and is refunding my deposit for my wedding next year
