Johnny and his co worker were awesome!!! We took advantage of both his DJing services and photo booth rental for our wedding. The photo booth was a huge hit, we used the photo strip print outs for our "guestbook" and everyone had so much fun with it. Johnny was right on schedule with the music and was super flexible. We ended up having pretty cold weather so i mentioned we may need to move things inside for the reception. I was obviously super busy but when he saw people migrating inside because of the weather he moved his station inside too. It was really nice to not have to worry about reminding him of the schedule or ask him to do anything. Would book again x 100. Thanks again!!!

Rockcandy was amazing! They did a great job with playing music that everyone enjoyed! They were also extremely helpful with keeping the event organized and on time! Johnny and Brian are very professional and fun guys! All of our guests also loved the photobooth! I would definitely recommend them!

We met with Johnny at Rock Candy over Skype several months prior to our wedding. Since we were planning from across the country, we didn’t meet him in person until we got to our reception site after our ceremony. His planning website was very user-friendly, and every song that my bride and I thought to play at our reception was listed on the site, with links to hear each song. We were able to choose songs for our first dance, cake cutting, wedding party intro, father/daughter dances etc, right on the site.

I was somewhat worried that a very outgoing DJ would make my introverted family uncomfortable. I needn’t have been concerned. When it was time to get our guests up and moving, Johnny managed to do it in a way that was fun and energetic, without being pushy or inappropriate. Once he opened the dance floor, it was never empty. He was the perfect MC; when he needed to get peoples’ attention, he did, when he needed to be invisible, he was. Though we didn’t get a chance to rehearse any of the songs, a quick nod from me during the intro and first dance was enough to tell him that it was time to cut a song short, and it felt seamless.

The music was just as we hoped it would be. There was only one song my bride was adamant that he not play. As a prank, I asked him to play it near the end of the night. I discreetly told all the guests to surround her and sing along loudly when the song came on. Her face when he told her it was a special request by the groom, and all our family and friends gathered around to sing, “Just a small town girl…” Priceless.

Bottom line, if I had to choose a DJ for our wedding again, I wouldn’t consider anyone but Johnny. When we started looking for a DJ, I told my bride that the only thing I really wanted was someone who would make our reception a fun party. Johnny understood exactly what we needed, and delivered. He even laughed at our lame jokes. He was fun, but professional.

Planning a wedding can be very stressful. Thanks for rock candy DJ we had absolutely no stress from their end. John took care of our wedding event and made sure that every little detail was taking care of. I would actually say they go above and beyond the expectations we had. Music is definitely the most important part of the wedding in my opinion to keep the guests happy. Rock candy was amazing, and I absolutely think if you are trying to find a DJ for your wedding or any other event this is the place to go. Their set up was elegant, they provided lighting for our reception, and they are very professional. Not to mention they Have fair competitive rates. Thank you guys for making this part of the wedding flawless. I will absolutely recommend you to anyone I know!

My wife and I could not be happier with Jeff and Rockcandy's services. He orchestrated the entire wedding. The music was amazing and kept both my 16 year old cousin and my 85 year old grandmother dancing. He met with us on several occasions before the event to ensure our expectations were met. He provided timelines for us to organize the ceremony and reception and had great recommendations and it was clear he has much experience. Jeff was flexible with his cost and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. I would recommend his services to everybody and would use him again for a future event.

I cannot even begin to express how wonderful our DJ (Jeff) was. He was so professional and personable. He really got the party going and even coordinated with the photographer to get some amazing pictures. I could not be happier with the service we received and I will recommend Rock Candy to anyone hosting an event. Definitely an amazing experience.

Jeff was wonderful!! He was professional while being approachable and friendly. It felt like we had a good friend DJing our event. He watched the crowd and adjusted the play list based on what they were responding to rather than sticking tight to any one genre or playlists. I appreciated this level of knowledge and professionalism, because while we had music ideas and requests, which he played, he knew how to keep the crowd engaged and dancing. This made it a truly memorable night that our friends and family continue to talk about.

Jeff was also very accommodating to last minute changes and guests requests and maintained communication with our wedding party allowing us to enjoy the evening.

I will and have recommended RockCandy to my friends and family and will definitely hire them again for future events of my own.

Johnny was awesome! He did a great job of making sure the dance floor was always full. He played all of the right songs for our wedding ceremony, and was happy to wait for a cue to play Indiana Jones while the groom and his groomsmen came in on horses. It was perfect. He was very gracious, making sure all of the people who were giving a toast had a heads-up beforehand. And he was very good about making sure we stuck to our timeline, while also being flexible about it. We were so caught up talking to people, we hardly even noticed time was going by. And mostly, we have a wide range of music that we like and he blended all of it together beautifully--from bluegrass and country to dance music! We had a super awesome party, and everyone keeps commenting on how great the DJ was.

Jeff was awesome to work with. He was very professional and responsive when I needed him. Loved the online planning tool as well, and he has an infinite selection of music and flexibility to add songs not already in his library. He was instrumental during the ceremony, keeping everything flowing on time and playing the right songs to keep the energy going all night. He came recommended by my venue (Cielo in Castle Pines) and I looked at reviews on several of the wedding websites-got great marks- and lived up to it on our big day. We also used him for the uplighting which added a nice ambiance. Great to work, excellent quality and definitely has great pricing.

Not only was Jeff a great value, he was by far one of the most professional and responsive DJ's I've ever worked with. Most people don't understand the importance of having a great DJ at their reception, but it can truly make or break your day. I had no doubt in my mind that Jeff was going to deliver a great party for us, and he did! Everything ran on time and smoothly with no complaints! He played all of the music that we wanted him to play and kept the party going all night long. Rockcandy DJ was in constant communication with us before and during the event. Jeff personally worked around our busy pre-wedding schedules to meet with the two of us to review event timeline, music selections, and other event details. DJ services were excellent - speakers/microphones provided for our outdoor ceremony allowed all guests to hear us say our vows and the cocktail hour/reception music was perfect for the setting and dancing later in the evening (even at 10pm the dance floor was full!)... Jeff arrived early for set-up that day, checked in with us throughout the reception, and planned all of the music/events and made announcements for our guests. We highly recommend this commpany for future brides & grooms to be. Rockcandy DJ goes above and beyond to make your event everything you dream it will be.

Jeff from Rock Candy was by far the best DJ, and not because he DJ our wedding. He was so prepared, was professional and related to the guests on a whole different level. He knew what to play when and read the crowd and literally everyone at my wedding danced the whole night long. You don't get that at every wedding. We used Rockcandy DJ for our wedding in Silverthorne October 2013. We had seen Jeff at another wedding last year and hired him right away! The online planning form was amazing. It was great since we planned our wedding from Maryland. We met with Jeff via phone and Email and he was very responsive. The forms went through so many details of the day, and it ran seamlessly.

Jeff played songs we liked, and made sure we had all of our songs for the first dance, ceremony entrance, etc. We used some he didn't have in their library and it was no problem for him to get them. He also added in a slideshow and dance performance that my family did for me just a week before the wedding perfectly! (Also gave us a great price adding in the equipment to pull it off). During the middle of the night my family requested the dollar dance, and he built it right into the reception after I asked for it. He was great! He arrived to the event on time, set up quickly, and checked in with bride/groom to make sure we were ready before he began. We used the up lighting at our venue and he did a beautiful job highlighting the venue.

He really kept the party going all night. He played my aunt and uncle's wedding song (after he learned it was their 41st anniversary in two days), and kept the flow of the wedding events going perfectly. All of our guests had a fantastic time dancing - he really read the crowd.

Our only complaint is that we had our mothers do a reading during the ceremony and we didn't have a mic for them to use, and we thought we were going to. He did mic our officiant and we were told everyone could here her. We had a fabulous experience with Rockcandy and would recommend them to anyone.

Jeff was FABULOUS!! He was a perfect MC- totally kept the night flowing seemlessly no awkward down times. We only met w/ Jeff 2 times before the wedding but with in those 2 meetings he was able to get a perfect sense of the type of wedding we were looking to share with our family and friends. The online planner was awesome- totally help us get our ducks in a row with when to do what and what music we wanted when. Jeff even provided lists of suggested songs to help us pick the important first dances. He kept the dance floor full ALL night long- there was never a moment there wasn't someone "cutting a rug". Thank you Jeff- you truely know how to get the party started and to keep it going.

Rockcandy DJs (Jeff in particular) are amazing. My new husband and I had very complicated music requests, as we had many friends of ours (who are musical performers) sing with karaoke tracks throughout the night. We also had 3 different music locations for Jeff to set speakers and his equipment (outside, in the dining room, and in a downstairs ballroom), not to mention, a demanding mother of the bride and a perfectionist groom! We could not have been happier with Jeff's service. He was kind, patient, responsive, informative, and talented. There were no pauses between songs, and no point in which we had to remind Jeff of our elaborate musical plans. Going into our wedding day, Rockcandy was the one vendor whom we knew we could count on to deliver (based on the amazing customer service and helpful communications) and they surpassed our expectations. They also provided us with a great photo booth… complete with fun props and a friendly booth attendant. Not only was their service amazing, but their prices were very reasonable. We discussed prices with Jeff several months prior to our wedding and the price we discussed was the price we paid in the end. They never tried to nickel and dime us for the couple small things we added as we planned (a small guitar amp, for instance). Rockcandy has my very highest recommendation - and everyone who attended my wedding would agree!

Simply put- Our dj was awesome! Super professional, didn't play anything I didn't want and pretty much stayed off the mic as much as possible!!!!! Jeff did a phenomenal job as an MC and DJ for our wedding. He was timely and effective in his correspondence, and the online planner greatly simplified compiling all of the information required. We weren't able to discuss dance music selection in great detail; however, Jeff's selections were spot on. The great value for getting a DJ up to Breckenridge was icing on the cake. Rock Candy DJ was amazing! The DJ was so much fun and very accommodating to our group of guests of all ages. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for music for any type of event. They made my wedding memorable for every guest. And accommodated me from my ceremony to my cocktail hour to my reception. We were completely amazed. The service is excellent and they're very professional. Cannot say enough good things about rock Candy DJs

Jeff and Johnny were extremely responsive and professional during both the planning process and the actual wedding. My emails were always answered within a day if not within a few minutes and they were always warm, friendly and helpful. Their pricing was also extremely competitive with other DJs I looked at.

At the wedding, Johnny was fun and friendly. He played everything we asked him to and honored all of my guests requests, including a karaoke song (after getting approval from us). He helped keep the event on track and made sure everyone knew what was happening and when. Johnny was instrumental in making sure our wedding was super fun and organized. I could not have been happier with the quality of service!

On point the entire way. Out all the vendors we choose Rockcandy Professional DJs made the night and created a wonderful atmosphere. Great lights, songs selections were perfect and communication was easy.

We came from Chicago and had our wedding in Estes Park. This meant that we had to do a lot of planning over the phone and via the internet. RockCandy has an online event planner that was easy to use and kept us organized. Every single person that we spoke to and worked with at RockCandy was professional and extremely helpful. We were able to pick almost every song to be played at the reception. There were some songs played that we had not picked but during those songs every single person at our reception was on the dance floor and dancing. Jeff (our DJ) did an excellent job of keeping the reception on schedule but wasn't a cheesy MC. He spoke minimally on the microphone and just played the music, which is exactly what we were looking for. We had so much fun. We've never been to a wedding where so many people danced the whole night. It was exactly what we were looking for!

Everyone had so much fun at our wedding. My huband and I had a bet. He said that dance floor wouldn't even get used other than the traditional dances and an occassional dancer here and there. Ha! Jeff rocked it and no one wanted him to tear down. He gave us our non-traditional requests ceremony and pre-dinner music selections and then took requests when everyone started the dancing. I would highly recommend them to any bride who wants the least amount of stress. The only stress for me was finding the time to fill out their online form. I'm old school and would've preferred a hard copy to take with me to work on waiting for appointments, etc. But other than that, they have you covered and will meet with you prior to your wedding to make sure ALL bases are covered.

Our DJ Miles was what made our entire reception beyond perfect!! It was one giant dance party and people had such a blast. No on wanted the party to end and it was amazing:) He was very professional and super nice and fun. He even went out with the whole crew after the reception because we were just having too much fun:) Thanks Miles you were awesome!!!!

I loved our DJ, he was nice and played great music. Our guests danced until 11pm on a Monday night and I believe that it is because the DJ did such a great job!

I'd like to thank Kay for being an amazing DJ at our wedding. She played great music all night and her annoucements were most excelent. She would come up to us and say "Okay you two its time to cut the cake"
We have told two of our friends they should call Rockcandy for their weddings next year...or we won't be there! Everyone always wants a party to remember and that is certainly what we will remember about our wedding day. I know our guests would agree!

My wife and I dealt with Adam, who was super courteous on the phone and made the whole process of putting together our reception really easy. When my wife and I first started planning our wedding, we really considered just bringing an iPod and having one of the groomsmen run the show - we were SO glad we hired a DJ. Plus Adam gave us a bunch of pricing options so we were still way within budget. Five stars all around!!!

I have pictured my wedding day since I was a little girl, and RockCandy TRULY exceeded my expectations. I was worried my new husband and I had not choosen a song for our first dance, and had no clue what music would be appropriate, but in meeting with Joel, he assured us our day would be a success. We discussed the many options we had for music, lighting concepts, and other entertainment they could provide to our guests. Andy, the dj of our wedding somehow managed to get my 86 year old grandmother on the dance floor during the ever popular "YMCA"....you can not put a price on a memory like that!!!! lol
I am also looking to book them for my sisters birtday party...

These guys were AWESOME! Not only did they play some of the best music but they kept the party going in a VERY classy way. The wedding video was state of the art HD and edited so it will be a family treasure forever. We checked out many different companies, these guys are neither the cheapest nor the most expensive; they are however the best at providing everything we asked for in a timely and professional manor. I would recommend RockCandy DJ's to anyone getting married in the Denver area. My wedding was for about 100 people and every single person that was there commented on how wonderful the DJ was. As the Bride and Groom it was so wonderful to have the DJ let us know that he was giving us about a 15 minute break before we had to do the obligatory dances etc. We got to set the pace, and the DJ did as we requested with a few things thrown in here and there and it made for a very memorable event! Most people say that they can not remember if they even ate at their wedding or what happened at their wedding because it was such a blur, well, we remember every bit of our wedding thanks to RockCandy.

Rockcandy was the only DJ company that treated us like they really appreciated our business and wanted to make our wedding as special as we wanted it to be (and we called a LOT of DJs in Denver!!). Any DJ you're going to talk to will have a "great music selection" or "state of the art equipment", but none of that really matters if your DJ is sub-par. Our DJ was so professional and kept our reception moving so smoothly. Can't say enough nice things about our experience. Would totally recommend them without a second thought.

These two are awesome! They responded quickly to my emails and were flexible with meeting times to go over our song selections. This was wonderful as our wedding was a destination wedding to Colorado. Our guests loved the music and Johnny was great at taking requests (even playing the same song twice!) and following the crowds mood. During as well as after our wedding we received many complements on how great our DJ was. I am very glad to have worked with them. The only critique I can say is I worked closely with Jeff and when the day came it was Johnny that was our DJ. He did an amazing job and was able to get caught up very quickly on what we had spoken to Jeff about. I would use Rock Candy DJ's again for any event!

Great website for organizing the event where you can provide a timeline, select songs for different events, etc. DJ met with twice before the event and was very easy to work with. He also helped us stick to our time table, allowing us to mingle and enjoy our wedding. Great DJ!

Jeff from Rockcandy DJ's handled the entertainment portion of our wedding in June and we couldn't be more pleased with the level of service and professionalism! We met with him several times before the wedding to make sure we were on the same page for what style/type of music we wanted to have at the wedding. He was very easy to work with and I felt reassured that he would do an outstanding job based on his level of experience. These guys have been in the DJing game for quite some time and it was nice to not worry about our music. They worked with our venue to produce a flawless evening of tunes that our guests enjoyed for hours! RockCandy was by far one of our favorite vendors for our wedding. Jeff checked on us multiple times to make sure we didn't need anything and make sure everything was on schedule. He told us when events were coming up so we weren't caught off guard. Everything looked and sounded great. Our guests loved the music, and so did we. The only reason that Rock Candy is not getting a perfect score is that the DJ did not have the song for our getaway even though it was requested several weeks before the event. We were able to substitute a different song about 20 minutes before the song was supposed to be played and it worked out well.

I planned my CO wedding from out of state and spent a lot of time looking for a quality DJ at an affordable price. Rock Candy DJs was definitely one of the most affordable options, which made me a bit hesitant about how good they would be, but they had some good reviews online so we decided to go for it. I assure you, we were not disappointed. Rock Candy DJs is an exceptional value for the quality of DJs you receive. Our wedding DJ was Donnie, and he was awesome! He worked with us using their very easy online form ahead of time to make sure we had everything squared away. He was able to find us any songs that weren't in their database and got everything right on our wedding day. As for dance music, we put in a few requests but mostly asked him to play whatever the guests would dance to, and that he did! Our guests were dancing from the minute the music started until the very last song. He took requests, played music from across genres, and showed everyone a great time. We got so many compliments about how great our DJ was, and our parents even decided to tip Donnie extra at the end of the night because he'd done such a great job. Our wedding ceremony got moved up 45 minutes due to weather, and Donnie was on it! He was ready well ahead of time with the ceremony music and even made it up to the reception site to get the music started early. I highly recommend Rock Candy DJs if you are looking for an affordable DJ who will do an outstanding job!

We had Jeff do our reception, and with just under 40 guests he got everyone dancing! I was a little bummed because I spent so much time picking out the songs in his database, and none of them were played throughout the night :( Still, everyone was dancing and having a good time, so it didn't bum me out too much!

We were very pleased with our DJ from RockCandy. They played the music we requested on our planner and took requests from our guests. The DJ was good at getting people out on the floor and making sure everything went smoothly. He was so easy to work with, even when we had to change up our schedule at the last minute! RockCandy was great! They're online tools were great and easy to use. Adam was very cool, and fun to work with.

However, I didn't know who my DJ was until about an hour before my wedding and he had no clue what I wanted to play during the ceremony. So I had to explain my entire ceremony music line up to him moments before I walked down the aisle. Not what I wanted to deal with! It was still beautiful, but just a last minute stress moment I wasn't anticipating.

We had a great experience with Rockcandy DJ's.Jeff was very easy going and seemed to have a lot of experience with weddings. The online planning tool was very user friendly and made it easy to plan the event without having to meet in person. Overall we were very satisfied! The only slight problem we had was a miscommunication on the groom & mother dance, but once we notified him he was able to get everything in place on the fly (and quickly)! We got a lot of compliments from our guests that they thought he kept the dance party going, which is what we wanted. I would recommend their services for any event.

Rockcandy was a great choice, they were able to find all the songs that I wanted for all the special dances. They also played many request that guest came with hoping to hear. Only thing was some older guest at the wedding told me afterwards the music was a little to loud. Other then that they did a great job and the cost is not too high so adding some extras was not hard to do.

Jeff was great he was always willing to meet with us and never made us feel rushed or he didn't care. He was always excited to talk about the music, our event, and give us helpful tips. I thought he was priced well and would recommend him to friends. He stayed later then he was scheduled and everyone had a great time. Everything went perfect except he started our first dance song too early and messed up the order we wanted for father daughter dance and mother son. Other than that...it was perfect!

Jeff and Johnny were very professional throughout our wedding. Jeff was our DJ and Johnny ran the photo booth. Their photo booth was amazing and I would HIGHLY recommend getting this service for your wedding! On their event planner, they ask you to just provide genres instead of specific songs you want played for the cocktail hour and dance. I was VERY particular about the songs I wanted played during the reception dance since I wanted to dance to certain songs with my friends. Jeff told me that was fine and I gave my list to him before the wedding and reiterated I wanted ONLY these songs played. During the reception, he played several songs that were not on my list, therefore not playing the songs I specifically wanted played. He did say he likes to read a crowd, but at my wedding, obviously I know the crowd and know what my friends will dance to. Jeff was prompt in returning calls and emails. However, he missed a scheduled walk-through with the event venue a couple weeks before the wedding. His excuse was he was in Winter Park all weekend for a wedding and was tired, but I never received a phone call to cancel. All in all, I would recommend Rock Candy DJ's, but just don't expect to have them play the songs you want played.

I'll list some negatives first: we had a very hard time getting in touch with our DJ - he was not good at returning calls and that got me pretty freaked out as we got to the end of planning - and our "custom choice" songs didn't get played at the reception - basically they said we could request songs not in their database but then didn't play those.

Now that those are said: the prices was great, our DJ kept the crowd going strong all night, he took care of all the announcements which was great, and overall the night went beautifully. I see that a lot of people have problems with the "special effects" type things but we didn't use any of those so I can't comment. All we had was reception music.

Final word: Was it perfect? No, there are things I would have liked slightly different. Was it still great and helped make the night fun and wonderful? Most definitely :)

Well, the initial meeting at village inn was interesting. We signed these guys as our very first vendor for the wedding after we had the venue. Adam, the guy who met with us was nice and assured us they had the most expertise in the industry. Our DJ was Jeff and he had 1 year with Rockcandy before our wedding day. A little bit of false advertising, but Jeff was great. Jeff played great music although he did forget the list of songs that we had requested to play. Overall, Jeff definitely rocks, but the company and its customer service overall is ok.

Overall, the DJ was good. He was amazing at keeping to the timeline! I loved how Rock Candy let you create an online play list of all the important songs, as well as a "must-play" list of songs. In addtion, the DJ played the kind of music I wanted with a few exceptions... I don't think he played our entire "must-play" list.

We had a little trouble with set-up, despite directions on the online form for an outside set-up for the ceremony. But he was responsive and moved very quickly to rectify the situation.

We were a bit disappointed in our DJ for the wedding. The most important part of the night- the music- was perfect. However, we did have a few issues. My parents met and booked with rock candy, and after booking they switched DJs on us. This didn't seem to be a problem because he was very professional and seemed totally with it at the walk through. However, the day of the wedding he seemed unsure of his responsibilities. He was supposed to MC the evening- we provided him with a timeline, but he didn't always go by it. He forgot to make announcements that were requested and wasn't really paying attention on a couple of occasions. When someone requests a DJ to perform at their wedding, they envision someone who takes charge over the events and clearly and audibly makes announcements so that guests know where to go when and what is happening next. I feel as though our guests were confused at times and weren't able to understand all the announcements he was making. My mother had a couple of specific requests- to do an anniversary dance to see who the longest married couple was at the wedding- and our DJ asked us the same question several times and still didn't quite get it right. He gave little or no warning for the toasts and for the father-daughter dance he played the entire song instead of the one minute requested. The biggest upset for my mother was the slide show she worked so hard on. We were promised that the slide show would play the entire evening, but he played it only during dinner while everyone was outside and couldn't even see it because he brought only one computer and couldn't play music while the slide show ran apparently. He didn't really stick to the timeline and only did things when directly asked. Despite all this, the music was great. People danced all night long, and he played every song requested. The mixture of pop and country was perfect. However, the night was more stressful than it should have been.

Rock Candy did not meet expectations. The speakers malfunctioned during the ceremony, the very heavy main speaker fell on to the dance floor during the evening narrowly missing guests, the must play music list was not played, and the night generally was chaotic as the DJ did not follow the event planner that Rock Candy requested that we provide. I felt like I spent the entire night reminding the DJ what the next event was and the groom's speech was completely omitted! Additionally, several guests commented that the songs were not played in a sequence that one would expect from a dj, so the dance floor was never packed. I contacted management about my concerns before writing this review, but they were completely indifferent to my concerns, so I'm writing this to warn other brides- there are definitely better djs out there!

Jeff and Jonny were wonderful to work with from day one. They were extremely helpful and came at a great price! I was very confident in them because they had previously done weddings in both our ceremony and reception sites. They didn't call and stress me out the day of like I have heard of other dj's doing. They were at the ceremony and set up before anyone else, and everything ran super smoothly at the reception. We were lucky enough that they had a photo booth that was exactly what we were looking for, using 1 vendor for 2 things was a lot easier! And the photo booth was awesome!!! I really wanted a real photo booth, one that you could fit 3 people in 4 if you smoosh, like we grew up with, not a green screen. It was such a hit! And all the pictures make an awesome photo album!!!
My issue is that we had the photobooth, which was a huge hit! They give you a zip drive with all the pictures on it, well we got half of our pictures and half of another event, I have contacted them a few times and nothing. They said they would send the correct zip drive and still haven't, our wedding was 6 weeks ago. They don't care they got their money, that's all that matters. Very unprofessional!

Jeff is a really nice guy and he was on time but he did not play many of the songs that were requested on our playlist that he asks you to create for your event which was very disappointing. He also did not accommodate many of our guests requests for song including the mother of the bride who asked for the same song twice and never got it. Several guests also mentioned they could not understand his announcements - that may have been in part to the venue but was surprised this was an issue.

While on the whole, our guests had a great time at the reception and danced, there were some significant issues and oversights that still bother me. Here's an overview of the concerns:

- The microphone/PA system didn’t work, so it was nearly impossible to hear the Matron of Honor/Best Man speeches. Whatever was wrong with the microphones made it sound like they were talking underwater. It was horrible.

- The DJ didn’t have our first dance song. When he announced our first dance (by shouting, as the microphones didn’t work), a different song was played. In the end, after much scrambling, one of my friends had it on his iPhone, which we hooked up to the speakers. Given that it was Dave Matthews Band, “You & Me,” which was what we selected on their online form and is a top song listed on their website, he should have had it.

- We had to answer far too many questions for the DJ. For example, he told me he didn’t have the schedule (which we had filled out online, as requested), and came to us with questions a number of times throughout the evening, starting with when we first arrived and were still outside trying to get a little one-on-one time. This left me feeling like I had to keep tabs on things, and the evening was less enjoyable as a result. Ultimately, I feel like some of these issues could have been resolved with a conversation or meeting prior to the wedding, but the only conversations that took place were related to making sure we'd filled out all their forms (music choices, schedule, etc. online). In fact, at least one email to the DJ with a few questions went unanswered.

Most troubling about this is that I provided this feedback to the company after the wedding and was told this was the first they'd heard of it; they were sorry and would speak with a manager, and I never heard anything more.

Poor customer service and unprofessional. We found Rockcandy through reviews, met with Jeff, and signed a contract for our wedding. We paid in full to receive a discount. I worked with Jeff for the months leading up to our wedding. A week before the wedding, I got a call from somebody I didn't recognize and he said he was my DJ.

I said, "No, Jeff is my DJ - I have been working with Jeff."
The other guy mentioned "Jeff got double booked so I will be your DJ, but I've done like 6-7 weddings so I can handle it."
I said, "Let me speak with Jeff"
Jeff got on the phone and assured me that he would in fact be there, he knew everything we covered, and that he will run the show, but the other DJ would be there because he is learning the ropes.

My wedding day rolled around and after the ceremony, some strange guy approached me introducing himself saying he was my DJ. I said, "Great, and where is Jeff." The guy replied, "Oh, Jeff couldn't make it- he got double booked." I was livid for a moment and I decided not to let this ruin the day - give him a chance he may be good.

The DJ we got started over 30 minutes late – I had ask him to get the dance started. He played the wrong song for mother/groom dance. My MIL spent weeks picking the song and then he played an inappropriate Aerosmeith song since their song wasn’t working. Throughout the night, the DJ used the Mic to make announcements, which nobody could hear. We asked to play some slow songs to break up the dancing for older people to join in. He didn’t play a single slow song aside from the first dance, father/daughter, mother/groom dances.

Worst of all, Jeff never apologized for this situation. We paid for our DJ, Jeff assured us he would be there, and then we got stuck with a newbie that messed up some important parts of our wedding dance. I left Jeff a voicemail and an email requesting him to call to discuss the events that happened at our wedding. He never called me back.

I can't believe they brought me to write this review. I've given them 3 months to make this right.

I get a call on Wednesday night, a few day before the wedding, from Landon who leaves me a voicemail to tell me he's DJ'ing my wedding instead of Jeff. I called back frantic cause I never met Landon. He assured me Jeff had gone over all the details and given him my timeline and that he was very experienced. Jeff calls me the next morning to tell me not to worry, that he will still be there as my additional DJ due to the size of my wedding (400 guests).

The day of the wedding, I'm running late...dress half on and looking for my shoes when I get a phone call from Landon. He is lost and it's 2:30pm, the ceremony started at 3pm. DO NOT CALL THE BRIDE - That should be #1 in what not to do as a vendor at a wedding.

I needed Rockcandy at the ceremony solely for the PA system, so guests could hear the Pastor, our vows, and our readings. I had violinist, guitarist, and vocalists taking care of the music. So do you think anyone heard anything??? NO!!! The speakers were a joke and we weren't mic'd up.

Then we head over to the reception. I had told Jeff that the wedding will not be on schedule and to go with the flow, he understood this. Since I never met Landon, he didn't get me, my husband, or what I needed/wanted. Landon comes up to me freaking out and I had to yell back, "you don't know what's going on CAUSE I NEVER MET YOU!! make it work."

During dinner I wanted stuff like Jack Johnson and Jason Marz and Landon played nothing. Something about mixed signals from the bar around the corner. Luckily I had a DJ friend there and he went to the restaurant and they worked it out, then we had music.

Be really careful if you want to pick this company. My husband and I really regret picking this DJ. They ruined some of THE MOST IMPORTANT moments of our wedding, and it is something we will never get back. We both get sick to our stomachs when we think about it. Here is a list of all the things we are STILL angry about:
1. We initially met with Adam (who we liked, and who we thought would be our DJ), but we ended up getting Donny because Adam was "busy". We never met Donny, and if we did we would have never picked RockCandy.
2. They constantly hounded us to sign our contract and pay (multiple calls a day), but once we paid we didn't hear from them for months, and they never returned calls or emails.
3. When I did talk to Donny he was very out of it and didn't seem very responsible or reliable. I was afraid he was stoned and wouldn't remember our conversation.
4. While Adam made the DJ's announcements out to be very upbeat and enthusiastic, in actuality Donny was not very confident or fun.
5. He mispronounced our names during our grand entrance. AND our upbeat entrance music was so quiet no one could hear it.
6. THE WORST: he cut our first dance song down to a minute and a half! That is less than half the song. We had to hurry up and finish. It was a waste of all the dance lessons we got and all our guests were confused.
7. Also, he cut the father daughter dance to two minutes. Not as bad, but still upsetting.
8. He didn't respond to multiple requests to turn up the music during the reception.
9. He didn't take a lot of requests from guests, who got irritated.
10. He didn't have some songs that were requested, and he refused to hook up ipods/iphones to play on their system. He said he didn't have the equipment?!?!
11. Our party lighting and uplighting were underwhelming and not noticable until it was pitch black outside.
12. For the level of service/satisfaction we got, they were very overpriced, and multiple guests were shocked at what we paid.

Reasonably priced and probably would normally be fine. I initially wrote a stellar review for this DJ's work at my wedding in May 2015. However, I later learned that Johnny was very unprofessional and not a good team vendor under the circumstances. We had an unexpected turn of events when our venue made us evacuate right before dinner due to flooding. While the DJ turned up and played our first dance and a few other songs after we moved to an alternative venue, I later learned that he was difficult with the people at the venue and that he was going to bail completely and just not go to the alternative venue. Note that we had not even had dinner, much less toasts, our first dance, or the father daughter dance. My wedding planner had to (1) get her boss on the phone to convince him to live up to his end of the bargain, and (2) BRIBE him to go to the alternative venue and complete his job. All agreed that he was uncooperative and unprofessional. Bothered me to learn how he acted through this situation, while others were all pulling together as a team to make my wedding work, despite the crazy weather.

Boy do I have a review to give!

My daughter got married last weekend. I am a very detailed, meticulous planner, so I worked very hard on all the details of my only daughters wedding.

During our initial meetings with Joel, we were assured that all our requests would be no problem whatsoever. We were scheduled to have: a DJ for 5 hours, custom up-lighting of the ballroom, GOBO custom designed for the dance floor, and 2 confetti cannons for the grand entrance.

We even insisted on a demonstration of what the confetti cannons would look like, so Joel did a demo outside the RockCandy offices. All looked fine, and we were excited for the wedding day.

The DAY OF THE WEDDING - our DJ (Kay, who was awesome) struggled and struggled with the wrong/broken/crappy equipment that had been delivered.
Bottom line: instead of 15-20 uplights and the promised 'magical' effect, there were only 3 lights that flickered on and off. The ballroom is very large, so 2-3 lights were pathetic and might as well not been there at all. It was a total bust.
Instead of the fantastic confetti cannons (2 were promised) ONLY 1 went off, and shot 2 or 3 streamers. It was embarrassing. All we got was a loud pop and 2-3 streamers rather than the big, joyous grand entrance. A few people chuckled at how pathetic it was.
The GOBO, which we had paid even more than EXTRA for (apparently it was a complicated design of THEIRS, so we were asked to pay even more than was standard) - the equipment did not work to display it. The hotel AV engineer stepped in for free to try to help, and they were able to shine a blurry image on the wall. So blurry, that people asked what it said.

Their equipment failed in every way, except for the music - thank GOD.

We got a bit of inside information after the wedding that Joel - the supposed owner - has gone to Florida for several months to take a job there. Apparently no one left behind to run the business really cares about making sure a job is done right. Also, we found out that Rock Candy has only 1 GOBO machine, and had booked it with 2 weddings that weekend. So they went out and rented a machine and sent it to my daughters wedding. The problem was, they did not check it to see if it worked with the GOBO - and it did not. The disc was too small for the rented machine. So rather than a lovely monogramed image lit on the dance floor as contracted for, we had a blurry, out of focus image shown on the wall.

I will never recommend Rock Candy DJ to anyone. They failed miserably. Their equipment failed miserably. Kay - the DJ was wonderful, and we absolutely loved her. You have only one chance at your wedding - don't take a chance with this company. Believe me.

I think that this used to be an awesome company - we heard from other friends that when Adam owned it - things were wonderful and smoothly run. Joel seemed to be a great guy, but when he stepped out of the picture, the company appears to be in deep trouble. I'd go so far as to warn anyone who has them booked for an upcoming wedding to change your plans and get another company. There it is.

I met with the staff of RockCandy DJ in January. The staff said the DJ's had several hours of training. I expressed concern that the DJ would be corny or one that just sat back and did not motivate the crowd. They assured me this would not happen. They only book three events per weekend to ensure the best DJ's and availability and provide clients with a big play list. The Modern Package is to include a light façade and additional lighting. The up lighting, would include two colors and be placed around the room to enhance it.
January 22, 2011, I called RockCandy and to lock in my wedding date of October 1, 2011. Rock Candy informed me the DJ would contact me three weeks prior to my event.
September 12, 2011 (3 weeks prior to event), I e-mailed RockCandy asking when the DJ would contact me and what information to provide for up-lighting. I didn't get a response.
September 14, 2011, I sent a follow-up e-mail. Still no response.
September 22, 2011, I received a system-generated e-mail stating the DJ would get a hold of me three weeks prior to my event and my invoice was due 7 days prior to the event. I called RockCandy since we were within the three weeks and I had not heard from the DJ. They informed my DJ had not been decided on yet and would have him contact me as soon as he was.
September 25, 2011, after several of hours of looking through the play list, I submitted my requests. The owner e-mailed me back he received it and he would pass it to the DJ.
September 26, 2011, the DJ called. I asked him to arrive around 2:30 because of time restraints. He informed me he couldn't do that and would be there around 4:00. I asked about the schedule and he did not have one available. I asked what he needed for up lighting and he had no idea what I was talking about and said he would call his "boss".
Later, the DJ called with the schedule, changed his arrival time to 2:30, and there was a plan in place for up lighting.
Day of my wedding!
We arrived at the reception to no announcement. I were looking forward to being announced. The DJ only had a table, and minimum lighting. None of the items promised with the Modern package (extra lights, and light façade) were present. The up lighting was very minimal, one only in one color, and put in random places.
Now, its announcements time and he announces our best man and maid of honor incorrectly and forgets to announce the correct ones all together. These two were very important and they did not get the credit they deserved.
The DJ didn't have any of the music I requested available. He was downloading the music at the reception. He did not motivate any one to dance. He said very little and what he did say was initiated by me. People told me this was the worse DJ they have seen.
Toast time arrives and there are no wireless mics and he is not prepared to provide mics for the toast. The photographer had to get the mics and set them up. The maid of honor had to lean over the table because the mic did not reach.
Finally, there was suppose to be a money dance for my husband and me. He never did this. This is tradition with my family and I know several people were waiting for this. Missing the money dance cost my husband and I an unknown amount of money.
After Wedding
I had knee surgery after my wedding so a family friend followed-up and asked for a refund. She informed me she talked with someone. This person informed her they hired out for my DJ! The DJ was not trained by them, did not know how to set up the up lighting (evident by placing), did not have access to the play list, and was nothing I was promised. RockCandy said they would refund some money but I never received it.
We called several times following up with no response.
My wedding day was suppose to be special. This is one day I can never recreate and the DJ should play a significant role in making it special.
RockCandy misrepresentative themselves and fell short of their promise.
I filed a complaint with the BBB months ago and have yet to hear back for the company.
