I can’t say enough good things about Robin and his DJ skills. We asked multiple DJs for quotes when we started our search and Robin replied back very quickly with a reasonable price and we were sold right away. We met with Robin twice to go over our song selections and also the timeline of our wedding. We couldn’t have planned that out without Robin and he offered great advice and suggestions. The day of he was there early to begin setting up, played all of the songs that we requested (we had a very specific list of rock songs), and also helped us coordinate throughout the night. One of our favorite parts was the Shoe Game which Robin emceed and it turned out great. Thank you Robin! We couldn’t be happier!

Robin was AWESOME! Our pre-wedding meetings were so easy and our wedding day was fantastic. Robin provided us with a sample timeline which we used, and absolutely nailed our music preferences (based on just a short list of artists we like). We had a big crowd on the dance floor the entire evening. I loved it!

We also had a hilarious moment when the batteries in the microphone had to be replaced during a (verrry long) toast, but Robin started the Jeopardy theme music and actually got the batteries in the mic in exactly the amount of time that the song takes. He got a well-deserved round of applause and laughs for that!

I'd absolutely recommend contacting Robin; he's a pro and very fun to work with.

Robin brings the party!!! He is the best DJ I've ever known. I gave him a list of "don't play" and picked out the basics (procession, first dance, etc) and let him do his magic for the rest of the night. I never once heard a song I didn't like, he kept the party going and us and our guests all had a blast. It went by way too quick, I wish we could do it again!! Thanks Robin!

I recommend Robin to anyone who is overwhelmed with the whole wedding process because he really takes good care of you and your future spouse!

Throughout the entire wedding planning process (from when we first met Robin to the day before the wedding), Robin was professional, responsive, very nice, and gave expert advice and suggestions for our wedding reception. (He had song suggestions, order of events recommendations, etc.)

On the day of the wedding, Robin was organized, on-time (and came early to set up), presentable, flexible (we had a large variation in age groups at our wedding and needed different song genres depending on the people on the dance floor), and acted almost like a day-of wedding coordinator and really stuck to the schedule that we agreed upon before the wedding day. I saved money on wedding coordinator expenses!

Robin was great to work with. We didn't want anything special so it was nice to know we could hand him the reigns with a few instructions on what to play (and not to play!) then just enjoy our evening!

Robin was AMAZING! He is great to work with. We were getting married in Houston, but lived in another city. He went above and beyond to meet with us whenever we were in town regardless of how busy he may of been! That meant so much to us. Our wedding day music was perfect. He played everything we wanted and he kept our guests on the dance floor! What we loved is he really appealed to all age levels (we had the majority of guests in their 20/30s and the rest older) and he was able to get everyone on the dance floor at some point!! Great DJ and great service!!

Robin is amazing! He provided pre-wedding music, ceremony music (really just the procesional and recessional), and reception music plus emceeing. He walked us through the entire reception process when we were planning, and offered some great ideas and advice. At our wedding he was very professional and played great music - everyone was dancing! We received many compliments, and he did too. If you want quality service and a fun reception, go with Robin!

Robin was our DJ for my daughters wedding and he did an outstanding job. Everything went as planned and he kept the music going at all time. Outstanding Job, Robin!! I would highly recommend him.

Robin, the owner, was wonderful to work with. Very professional, and flexible, and clear on pricing and service provided. Scott, the DJ, was also professional and very personable. He worked wonderfully with the even coordinator at the Country Club, and was exactly what our family needed in a fun, and working DJ!.
We absolutely loved the music and the voice overs from Scott were perfect! Very friendly, very entertaining, and we would rehire in a heartbeat!

Rock N Robin was amazing. He was our DJ, provided our photo-booth (which was a big hit at our wedding) and provided up lighting for our reception. He also sat down with us and came up with our wedding itinerary. Everything was awesome. Highly recommend!!

Robin (the owner) was great with meeting us to set up the plan for our reception. Our DJ was Brian and he was amazing. He cut down songs that were too long seamlessly. He made sure to play our must have songs and asked me before playing off beat songs requested by guests. We had to move our exit up and he handled getting everyone to the door early perfectly. I cannot say enough about how great he was!

Robin was the DJ for my wedding. When we first met with him and started talking about the details for the wedding we really didn't even know what we were getting into or what we even needed to decide. He was great at walking us through all of that, very friendly and helpful in ways you wouldn't even think of your DJ to go to.
On the day of the wedding everything was exactly what we expected, all of the music was great, and once the dancing started the dance floor was always full. We had some delays during the wedding and he was great about going with it. Great to work with.

We were very satisfied with the service provided by Rock N Robin. Our DJ (Bryan Fernie) was extremely professional. He did a great job of playing the songs that we requested and of making sure that the event flowed smoothly. We highly recommend this service.

We hired Rock N Robin as our DJ because my now husband had worked wedding receptions in the past with one of the DJ's, Brian. We met with the owner, Robin, to go through a timeline of the reception and what music we would want played. Robin was very nice and I have no doubt he is also an exceptional DJ. I had only met Brian one time before the wedding and couldn't be more happy with him being our DJ. He played the music we had pre-selected and also did a great job being an MC. He kept the party on the dance floor going for hours and everyone had a great time. He also dressed very professionally (tux) and fit in perfectly with our reception. I highly recommend this company and Brian as your DJ! :)

Robin was AWESOME! He was great to work with and very helpful and patient. My brother and sister-in-law used Rock N Robin for their wedding a few years ago and had a great experience with them too - they had Bryan and were very pleased.

Robin had our reception going with his music choices - it was a great blend of old rock to the more trendier stuff. Everyone had a great time!

I would highly recommend you use this company, they are great!!!

I was so happy with our DJ, Brian. He was so nice and made sure everything stayed on track and on time while also playing great music that everyone wanted to dance to. I couldn't have been happier and would HIGHLY recommend Rock N Robin to anyone looking for a DJ.

Rock N Robin was absolutely phenominal! Let's just say, we spent thousands and thousands of dollars on our wedding, and Brian from Rock N Robin was by far the best money we spent (well, besides the honeymoon :)). First of all Robin, the owner, spent over an hour with us on the phone asking questions and getting to know us (since we couldn't meet in person because we lived so far away). He gave us some GREAT advice and helped us create an agenda for our reception that really took a load off of me as the bride. Robin assured us that Brian, the DJ, would be great and would really get the party going. And I just can't say enough good things about Brian. From the moment we pulled up to our reception, Brian was there, telling us where to go and what to do (in a good way). He coordinated the whole thing. And not to mention he played amazing fun music and really was the life of the party. He acted as if he were our best friend. Always there, making sure we were ok. I just loved him!!! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend these guys! WAY worth the money.

We had Robin DJ for our reception, and he is amazing! So easy to work with--if there is any song you'd like him to play, or really don't want, it's no problem. The selection of music for our day was perfect for our fun and diverse crowd, and everybody was having a blast on the dance floor! We won't hesitate to recommend him to all our friends. Great guy, great music!

WooHoo!! What a DJ!! Our daughter's wedding reception was spectacular! Robin dj'd for us and even helped us pull off a surprise on the bride when her father/daughter dance ended, her dad walked her to the side of the dance floor to be handed off to her stepdad for his father/daughter dance, but they decided to surprise her by dancing the Twist together instead!!! Robin timed it perfectly and the crowd roared!!! She was so surprised! He played the song list to perfection and the dance floor stayed packed all night!! We love you

Rock n Robin DJ Services was recommended to us by the management of the club where we held our wedding reception. We interviewed two other DJ Services but we are so glad that we chose this DJ Service. Owner Robin Janson of Rock n Robin has an office in the Houston Heights area so it was convenient for planning the wedding music with him. He always returned my phone calls and met personally with us several times during our planning stage. He has a great web site with every song imagineable from which to choose the music playlist. Even if a song is newly recorded, he can get access to it and include it in the playlist. What was especially nice was that we could also select songs that we did not want to be played at our wedding reception. He has many DJs working with his company but we hired the owner, Robin to work our wedding reception. He met with us again as our wedding was approaching to work on the timetable of events so he would be sure that the planned events of the evening including the toasts, first dance, dancing, bouquet and garter toss were scheduled in the order we wanted them and the reception would stay within our time frame. Our DJ arrived early in the day and had his equipment set up and ready. He followed our schedule exactly. He was smooth in keeping the evening flowing and was not loud or pushy. He did not bring a bunch of equipment we did not want like gigantic speakers, black curtains or flashing lights. The sound of the music was high quality, and just the right volume for a large reception. I would highly recommend using Rock n Robin DJ Services at your wedding reception. You will be enjoy working with such a professional service.

GREAT DJ! We used Rock N Robin for our reception and were very pleased with their services. We had John as our DJ who was very fun and helpful. He called me a few days before the wedding to go over everyones names for introductions, the itinerary for the night, as well as our lengthy list of "PLAY" and "DO NOT PLAY" songs. The evening flowed so smoothly. If he started to play a song and noticed that it was clearing the dance floor he quickly faded it out and played another song to keep the party going.
Our dance floor was packed the entire night, we had a blast! I would definitely recommend them!

Robin was our DJ. Being the owner, he charges a premium, but it was well worth it! He was wonderful to work with, both during the planning process and on the day-of. He was very professional and accomodating. He provided some great suggestions we would have never thought of ourselves. We couldn't have asked for any better! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Side note: If you plan on using a photo album of your engagement pictures as a guest sign-in book, PROVIDE SHARPIES OR BALL POINT PENS for your guests to sign with!! Fountain pens are prettier, yes, but they will smudge!! I include this in this review because this is something we learned from Robin.

We were really happy that we chose Rock'n Robin. The DJ we worked with was great. We were able to chat with him briefly before the reception started. He asked us a few questions about our musical preferences. We also used the online service to request songs. He played all the songs that we requested, and he was also great at reading the crowd to keep the party going. He didn't try to be cutesy or funny; he just played the songs we wanted and made the announcements we asked, which was just what we wanted. He also seemed like a really cool guy!

Great DJ for our reception! Bryan kept things moving & there were constantly people on the dance floor -- exactly what we were hoping for, even though we had a day wedding.... and sometimes those are hard to get people dancing! They have a website where you can customize your "play" and "do not play" lists, as well as designate your special dances. We loved them and would definitely recommend their services.

My fiance and I met with Robin and liked him immediately. We decided to pay a little extra (not a lot at all) to have Robin himself DJ at our wedding. We ran into a problem 4 months out and had to reschedule the wedding. Robin did this for us without a issue. We were so thrilled with his work! He was a complete master of ceremonies. He was able to read the crowd really well and kept an eye on both my husband and i as we walked around greeting our guest so he could continue with the program when we were done. He did a great job of play my "must plays" and "do not plays", although we decided to leave our "must plays" to a short list because we trusted Robin's experience. We knew he would know weddings better than we would since he's been a DJ for so long. We got TONS and TONS of compliments on him after the wedding. I definitely recommend trying to get Robin himself to do your wedding.

We contacted Robin in response to a referral from a good friend. After meeting with him once, we knew we wanted to work with him. He laid out a detailed plan for the reception. My (now) husband and I had a Rat Pack themed wedding so the music was really the key factor in setting the tone for the evening. Robin was amazing! He was very professional and even dressed the part, donning a fedora for the night (only because we mentioned that it was part of the theme).

In response to some of the other reviews, as Robin will tell you, if you want to hire him, you must specify that and there is a small increase in the fee that he charges. We decided to pay the extra and we were not disappointed. I never realized how big of a role the DJ played in running a reception. Robin made sure things ran smoothly, even making sure we had time to eat and had a drink in our hand whenever we needed one.

To sum it up, I can't say enough about the professionalism and enthusiasm that Robin showed during the entire planning process. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who asked.

Robin was great. He met with me, answered my crazy emails (I tend to send a lot because I have a lot of questions), and dealt with my obsessiveness. He also made the night run so smoothly. It's like he knew the type of night I wanted and just made it happen. At the last minute I started panicking about guests getting bored (we're not really dancers) and he did an anniversary dance and a dedication dance perfectly to get them dancing. He cool, calm, and knowledgeable. In fact, he told me everything I needed to know about what happens at a reception so that I was completely prepared. And he worked with my budget. He was awesome.

The DJ provided all of the music as planned. Robin made all of his appointments on time and the DJ at the wedding was courteous, kept the event moving without taking over, and provided extra services to the bride and groom (serving them drinks and getting water to them when they were hot from dancing).

Robin was awesome. We knew how a DJ can make or break the reception and he made it. So many of our guests commented on how much fun they had. His MCing was great and he was very professional. I highly recommend him!

This Dj was absolutely amazing. I had several engaged friends at my wedding and after the reception, they all asked for his contact information. Even though I live about 70 miles away from the DJ home, he was willing to come meet with me anywhere to discuss exactly what I needed. We spoke for an hour or so and he came up with the perfect mix for our reception. He even remembered where our out of town relatives were coming from so he could play "New York New York" for them at the reception. Robin didn't miss a beat and his prices were some of the best I found. I HIGHLY recommend this DJ!

Robin was awesome at my daughter's wedding. They gave him the "unusual and fun" introduction of the wedding party literally a day before and he pulled it off as if he had rehearsed it several times, he knew exactly what the groom wanted. It was a super fun, high energy reception and he kept it moving and kept everything on time according to the timeline we gave him. Kuddos to Robin! We were SO VERY lucky to have Rock N Robin as the DJ for our October wedding last year!

Robin ended up being able to do our event for us, and he was AMAZING! I would use him again and again if given the opportunity!

Before we met with him, I was so freaked out about so many details on the day of the wedding. He put all of my fears to rest by sitting down and writing out a timeline for the reception. It was JUST what I needed, and I walked away from that meeting finally feeling calm.

He had such great ideas, and the execution was perfect for us. He listened to our music guidelines, threw in some awesome songs, and provided some great moments of humor!

He even stepped in and saved our photo time from being a disaster!

We hired Robin (Rock n Robin) to work my daughter's wedding reception on April 23, 2016. He did a fantastic job and everyone enjoyed his work. It was easy to work with him. He made some good suggestions on how the reception should flow. I gave him a simple timeline and he followed it. It's really not necessary to give him a minute by minute layout. You can just give him a list of things you want said/done and he'll handle the rest. I made a movie of the bride and groom and Robin used his laptop and projector to show the movie. This helped me because I didn't have to tote a laptop around. He played all the music my daughter and fiancé wanted and he was right on cue. We were worried a bit there would be issues getting people to dance. Robin was able to get a LOT of people up on the dance floor and they all had a good time. He added some sound effects just before speeches and toasts that made people laugh. It was truly funny.

I read some reviews where Robin is slow responding to emails. This is true. However, when the date was getting closer he responded more quickly and we never had an issue. He showed up to meetings on time and was set up and ready to go at the reception.

I can't say a negative thing about Robin and I usually find something critical when I post a review. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Rock n Robin again. Might be sooner than I want if my other daughter decides to get married.

Our DJ called ahead of time on day of event to confirm attire, arrived promptly at said time to our venue, very friendly/great attitude & was awesome! Correspondence via email with the owner wasn't as quick of responses as I would of liked/preferred, but was still with in a reasonable time frame. This was my first time hiring a DJ & in every email the owner assured me all of my questions/requests were not a problem. I will definitely be referring them to friends & using again in the future for any event that would need DJ services!

Robin is the owner- he has 7 or 8 DJs I believe that work for him. We met with Robin to tell him what type of music we envisioned and what type of crowd we were going to have. Based on what we described to him, he chose Brian to be our DJ. Brian was great- very friendly and listened to what we wanted. I did not want a DJ that was always on the mic making annoucements, etc. And he listened to what I requested. The music was great!!

We chose Rock N Robin after having them recommended to us from a recently married friend and meeting with Robin. He was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process! The only reason he didn't get five stars is that we thought, originally, that we were getting services from one of his DJs but apparently that changed at relatively last minute and we weren't told by Robin. We weren't told at all until the new DJ that he had hired called us and I pretty much had to reload all of our preferences into a new database because the new DJ had a different way of doing things!

Everything turned out alright the day of the wedding, with the exception of a few mixed up songs and the DJ did a great job. So I thank Robin for finding a replacement DJ for us on such short notice, but I do wish we had known a little earlier to cut down on the freaking out right before the wedding! I would recommend Rock N Robin to my friends but perhaps try to get Robin himself!

I booked Rock N Robin for my wedding and Brian was my DJ. Overall, I was very happy with my reception. Brian acted as a coordinator for the night making sure we stayed on schedule and were happy. Also, the music was great, all age groups thought the music selection was fun. Brian worked very hard to make my reception run smoothly. Working with Robin prior to the recpetion went well, he had ideas for how to schedule the night based on experience and this was very helpful. The only small complaint I have is that the day before my wedding, he emailed to tell me he could not find the right version for the song for my first dance. I wish he had told me this a little sooner. I did luckily find the song and put it on a CD, so all went well. I think they did a great job, good pricing, easy to work with and very professional!

Robin Janson, with Rock N Robin was great! We met in person several months before my wedding (he was a referral from another friend) and he was very helpful and friendly.

We talked about the traditional "flow" of a wedding reception & my options of how I wanted to do things. He was completely willing to work with how I wanted things and agreed not to play certain styles of music, etc... He was on time and professional and kept people dancing without playing stupid "we are family" or "the bunny hop" type of songs. He spoke just enough without making it sound like was "entertaining" the party.

I would definitely suggest him as a wedding reception DJ!

We had Robin at our wedding and reception. Since we had two friends as host and hostess, Robin did not speak at the wedding. Before the wedding, we met about three times with him. He helped us a lot on the agenda. Also, he is very flexible with the song choices, and he did stick to the list we provided. The reasons that I did not give him higher ratings are: 1. He is very busy, so he can be slow in returning emails. 2. He was late on our wedding. He did set up everything on time, but he did not show up on the time he promised us.

The night of, we had Brian as our DJ. He was really fun and played all our good music! We had given a list to Robin of "Play" Songs and "Do not Play" songs. Robin is out by Cypress, so he always came to our side of town and met us at Starbucks or Dessert Gallery. We did not met Brian beforehand, so I was a little weary, but it turned out fabulous. My only complaints are that we met with Robin only, and it would have been nice to meet with the actual DJ performing at our wedding beforehand. I had a fantastic reception, but I was a little worried about it before, so it would have been nice to be at ease about it. Rock N Robin was highly recommended by my reception venue, Courtyard on St James, so that is why I went with them despite being nervous. Plus,for a DJ, their prices are really good.

I was really excited to have Robin as my DJ, as I had met him at an open house and thought he was great. However, on the day of the wedding the DJ was not Robin. The DJ we got was nice but unfortunately did not do a great job. I had to do 75% of my entrance without music because the music cut out. The DJ looked flustered throughout the entire reception, almost as if were his first event. My sister was going to sing a song throughout the reception and he didn't have the track we had sent. And he played our last dance song before the last dance. Very disappointed.

I was not impressed with Rockin' Robin DJ services. My mom booked him and talked/emailed him numerous times. I met with him 3 months before the wedding and we went over EVERYTHING...from the song the mothers would walk in the ceremony too, all the way to the last song of the night. While we were meeting, he was constantly typing on his laptop, so I assumed (yes, that was my fault) that he was taking notes about all the songs and all the information. The day of the wedding, we found out who the DJ would be. The DJ that attended the wedding, did NOT have my list of songs for anything but the ceremony (at least he had that). He was able to play music for the ceremony, but there was NO music for the cocktail hour, which we specifically requested. During the reception, he introduced me and my husband UNDER THE WRONG NAME, played multiple "break-up" songs, and didn't have any of the songs that I had initially requested. I later emailed Robin to tell him of the mishaps, and he seemed to place blame on me and my mom. Robin is a nice guy and I'm sure his services are, too, but I wouldn't change a thing about my wedding...except for the DJ services.

I was very disappointed in Rockin' Robin. First of all, I had a difficult time getting a response back during my wedding planning, whether it be via text, email or phone. Robin (the owner) had been the main / only contact throughout my whole planning process. On the day of my wedding, Robin failed to inform me that he would be sending someone else in his place to DJ. I am aware that their contract states that in case of an emergency, they are allowed to send a replacement DJ to your event. To my knowledge, there was never any time of emergency that happened, nor was I ever notified that someone other than Robin would be my DJ until they arrived the morning of my wedding. The "replacement DJ" did not have a clue on what our schedule was and did not know of my recent song changes. My sister (MOH) had to go through the entire wedding schedule so that he was aware of the song list. Also, this DJ started playing the wrong song for my cake cutting. He did not talk in between songs (like most DJ's do) to help keep the energy alive, so there were a lot of awkward silent moments. Not to mention that this DJ played almost every song on my DO NOT PLAYLIST!

I sent a personal email to Robin about my experience on the most important day of my life and I never heard one word back. It would have been nice to receive some sort of an apologetic email, phone call and / or a partial refund. Nothing.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend using this DJ.

The actual DJ on the day was Steve Canada, I had never met him before my wedding day only the owner Robin. So my problems were mostly with Robin, first it was extremely hard to get a hold of him. 2 weeks before the wedding I finally got a hold of him and he said he had downloaded all my Caribbean musicI knew this was a lie because some of the songs were not available online, so instead of freaking out so close to the wedding, I decided to just burn CDs. 1 week before the wedding I called and told him I had a CD with all the soca and reggae on my list and when can I get it to him. He said just give it to the coordinator the day of. I thought a professional DJ would want CDs ahead of time to listen to them and make sure they played. So of course the day of the CDs (burned in windows media player and that played in my computer, car, and a friends stereo system) did not work in the DJs computer. Needless to say I was devastated because the whole wedding was supposed to be islandy and there was no island music. So my bridesmaids are trying to help him download music in the middle of the receptionand to no avail. At one point he started playing a reggae song with the words Gal flex it is time to have sex over and over. I had to run up the stairs and tell him to turn it off. It was horrible. So obviously I was stressed the wedding day because of this and didnt get to party like we had hoped.

After the wedding I waited for Robin to call (since I never met steve before the weddin only robin and hence I dont blame steve for this fiasco) no call from Robin and he would not answer my calls. I finally called from another phone and he answered! What a surprise. Basically he ended up YELLING at me saying its not his fault my CDs wouldnt work and how he gave me a discount in the first place cause I couldnt afford his regular price. I guess he thought a 100 off made it ok for him to ruin my music. I wish you guys could have heard him yelling at me it was really ridiculous. In short, I highly encourage you not to use Robin based on my own experience not only on wedding day but mostly how he dealt with me after the fact. I am completely disgusted with him.
