    Wedding review

loved the company very easy to work with! They have an online system that helps organize everything! They have every song I asked for! He even found me after the wedding and apologized for some SMALLLLLL mistakes that I didn’t even notice! I appreciate the apology!!

My only regret is not going with a higher package. I wanted more interaction for the DJ and wanted to dance more than we did!

    The best DJ ever!

Rock-It production absolutely killed it! They did such an incredible job from the ceremony music, transitions, to the dance floor! All my guests had so many compliments on the playlist and everyone was dancing having a great time! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being so amazing!

    Phenomenal Experience

What a great time we had at our daughters wedding! Stephen Quave kept us all on the dance floor until the very end! Awesome music selection...we had a few "must haves" and the rest was up to him. He played what the guests requested with no questions. He was GREAT! Everyone at Rock-It including John and Raven Mitchell was a pleasure to work with. They had timely responses, answered all of our questions and provided us with professional service. If you are looking for an awesome DJ...contact Rock-It and request Stephen Ray Quave

    Such a fun night!

We used Rock-It Productions for our November 2020 wedding as it was highly recommended by our venue The Greystone. Chris was our DJ, and he was awesome! He helped make the night flow so nicely. He was super polite and kept me up-to-date on everything. Everyone was on the dance floor all night long, and people were actually upset when the reception had to end. Chris did a great job making sure everyone was having a great time.

Music sets the mood for an event. Well... J.J. Richardson was our DJ and he created an awesome experience for our daughter's wedding. The dance floor was never without a crowd of friends and family having a great time. JJ kept the beat and made sure that no one would leave disappointed. Rock-It Productions event portal made it easy for us to provide specifics on the wedding, dances, names of guests, etc. You have the ability to list specific songs you want played, and also songs to keep out. Again, thanks so much to JJ for making the night a great time for all.

One of the best decisions of my wedding. They kept everyone dancing all night. Rock It was a super fun edition to our wedding reception. We also sprung for the photo booth, great choice. It gave everyone something to talk about and captured a lot of candid moments to add to our album.

Absolutely fabulous! My daughters wedding wouldn't have have been the same without John and Amy from Rock It! They were very sociable yet professional at the same time. They listened to what my daughter and fiancé wanted when it came to music and did EXACTLY what they asked for! The photo booth was such a hit with adults and kids-I never thought so many adults would get a kick out of this as much as they did--loved it..not only that, but they pictures are high resolution! Nice!! I am recommending these guys to everyone I know!!

I hired Rock it Production for my 25th anniversary/ vow renewal. This was the first time I have work with a DJ. JJ was absolutely amazing. He interacted and dance with everyone. His choice of music was right on. Almost a week later and people is still talking about how much fun JJ was. I would highly recommend Rock it production for entertainment for any event. I will be calling them again in the future.
Also a big Thank you to Raven for working the photo booth that we rented from Rock it Production. It was the highlight of my 25th wedding vow renewal. We loved your choice of props. You are awesome!!!

I really had high expectations for our DJ from Rock-It Productions after visiting their website, however, I was really dissapointed at the service. We got the Level A service which includes a meeting with the DJ before the wedding which we tried to schedule but was always told the the DJ could not meet on weekends, the only time we could meet since we live in Jackson, MS. I wanted specific songs to be played at the reception but still wanted the DJ to pick the order of the songs depending how the crowd felt but he just put it on random order. Also, I expected that the DJ would work the crowd which he did not at all. I had to ask him several times to make announcements. Furthermore, we paid for a A Level DJ and requested John who is the owner but along with him was I guess a DJ in training who actually did more of the work. The A Level DJ just stood around. He did not even introduce himself to me and I had to go up to him at which time he was not very social. We paid way too much money for the service we received. I could have just gotten a friend to be in charge of my iPod wedding playlist instead of actually hiring a DJ. I would not recommend them at all.

    Rock-It Productions's reply:

First of all, I would like to apologize, as this is the first that I am hearing about this; when I asked the bride/family members at the wedding if everything was going good, they said yes, going good. I have not personally gotten negative feedback in 6-7 years when the customer said that I was a little too interactive.

Furthermore, I would definitely like the opportunity to break down the clients rating piece by piece as stated below.

    Client Statement:
“I really had high expectations for our DJ from Rock-It Productions after visiting their website, however, I was really disappointed at the service. We got the Level A service which includes a meeting with the DJ before the wedding which we tried to schedule but was always told the DJ could not meet on weekends, the only time we could meet since we live in Jackson, MS.”
    John's response:
I apologize once again that you were misled. I personally work just about every weekend for this is the times that I actually perform the events that are booked; the weekends are a very crazy time for us. I am readily available during our normal office hours Monday through Friday. This does not mean that I will not meet with a client on the weekends, I just may need the client to provide 3,4, or 5 possible times to actually get together.
As a result of this, I have changed our website page http://www.rockitpro.info/experience-levels/ to state that “meeting available (during office hours Monday-Friday; weekends are not readily available because that is when we are working the events”)

    Client Statement:
“I wanted specific songs to be played at the reception but still wanted the DJ to pick the order of the songs depending how the crowd felt but he just put it on random order.”
    John's response:
The bride actually mailed us a flash drive with each and every song that she wanted played in folders labeled for each part of the wedding. She stated that she wanted this specific music played, and as she said to put it in the appropriate order that I felt would work with the reception. In which I did. I played the slower, more laid back music is towards the beginning-middle of wedding and the more upbeat music is towards the last hour of wedding. If you look at question 17 on our F.A.Q. Page, http://www.rockitpro.info/faqs/ , it suggests just sending in a few songs and let the more experienced D.J.s select the music by reading the crowd. This feedback is now making me double think on letting the client send in a complete play list because it obviously makes us as a company look bad when we cannot play what is best for the event.

This is the list of music provided for us to play, in the order she gave us:

I wanted to pull the play list history off of the laptop to show that the music was mixed but too much time has passed in order to download it, if I would of have known sooner, I would have. I will say that I did not mix up the cocktail & dinner music up much, there was no need to. The dance music was reordered though.

    Client Statement:
“Also, I expected that the DJ would work the crowd which he did not at all.”
    John's response:
There are about 20-30 songs that really work well with the crowd, as ice breakers, and interactive songs that I can actually interact with on the dance floor. Depending on the crowd, I usually pick a few of those songs to help get the crowd moving. There were no line dances, disco, or anything on her list that I could work with. I did exactly what the bride asked of me, and that was to play her list! She did not tell me that I could stray from her music list. When the guests made requests, I stated “I'm sorry, but it's not on the brides play list” (they would have to ask the bride if it could be played) Towards the final hour when guests were dancing, I did get on the mic a couple of times and stated some general statements; if you guys are having fun, make some noise, and things like that.

    Client Statement:
“I had to ask him several times to make announcements.”
    John's Response:
This is correct, there was an event planner, family member, and the bride all directing me on when the events were going to happen; I made sure the bride, herself, was ready before I made the announcements. All of the standard announcements such as the entrance of bridal party….the bride and groom... now for their first dance...I announced the other dances.. Cutting of the cake... Bride & Grooms last dance... etc...were made by myself.

    Client Statement:
“Furthermore, we paid for A Level DJ and requested John who is the owner but along with him was I guess a DJ in training who actually did more of the work. The A Level DJ just stood around. He did not even introduce himself to me and I had to go up to him at which time he was not very social. We paid way too much money for the service we received.”
    John's Response:
Once again, this is more relating to the music than anything... If there is no interactive songs (Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, the Twist, Shout, We are Family, Harlem Shuffle, Wobble, Strokin’, Second Line, Cha Cha Slide, The Freeze, Limbo, Disco (for stroll line), etc, etc etc.) It makes it extremely hard to me/us to interact as needed.

The cake was in the room next to us and not in the correct distance from the D.J./sound system area, I made the “cutting of the cake” announcement and everyone left the D.J. Room and went to the Cake room... after that, a member of the wedding party asked if they could bring the microphone to the next room to make toasts around the cake... I stated that it was not a good idea because the cordless mic is too far away from the base and the mic would make popping sounds, also the speakers are too far away (we would have to turn the volume at max volume so they could hear it in the cake room, which can damage our speakers (the proper way to do this is to rent another speaker, possible sound system for the additional room for a nominal charge)). After another wedding party member asked for the microphone, I basically stated it would be at their own risk (the mic did pop a few times). I am stating all of this because I instructed my assistant D.J. to go and babysit the microphone and I would stay by the sound control so I could control the volume of the mic in case the popping got to bad, and to play the music. They saw Dillon, the assistant D.J. The entire toast/cake cutting time. I also had him taking down the equipment in the ceremony area, which was yet even in another room upstairs; he was very visible. He did not make announcements or interact with the dancing much.

I did not run up to the bride as soon as she walked in the room to introduce myself, things were too hectic, the first dances were going on, and the bride and groom were busy greeting their guests. I usually greet the bride and groom before they walk into the reception, which was not possible with the way the wedding pictures were setup and how they had a family member/friend of the family instructing me. If I cannot greet them before the reception, I usually wait a little while before I track the couple down and greet them; She got to me before I got to her; sorry.

When the bride did come to me first, she said thanks for being here, introduced herself, I said “nice to meet you finally in person” (I did discuss everything on the phone with her a couple of days prier). After that she said to the effect: I have a very OCD personality, very demanding, I apologize for that. Then once again she stated to me that she wants her dance play list played in an order that I choose. I said OK, no Problem. Then she said (in kind of a joking way)“have you ever had a bride send you a flash drive with every song categorized in different folders?” I said “no, but I will play it how you want it, no problem.”

    Client Statement:
I could have just gotten a friend to be in charge of my iPod wedding play list instead of actually hiring a DJ. I would not recommend them at all.
    John's Response:
I could not agree more; why hire a D.J. If you are going to give them the exact list to play, unless you want the D.J. to be in charge of just the sound systems and any technical problems that may occur; which seemed to be the main reason on why I was there (due to the brides play list).

The A level package keeps professionalism in mind. The bride hired us for the ceremony/sound system in one room and a totally different sound system for the reception, with a play list that she instructed me to play, but mix up. We arrived the Westin well in advance, setup the sound systems in both rooms, started on time, made every announcement, wore appropriate attire, and even asked well into the wedding “is everything was going OK.” One of the wedding party members even tipped us. You will see me personally interacting in the videos on our website at http://rockitpro.info at other weddings. I usually interact with the appropriate music. I was limited to just one or two songs at this wedding.

In conclusion, I feel bad that the bride was not happy with our services; we take negative feedback seriously, but I feel my hands were tied. If she would have just given me the opportunity to insert some of my song suggestions into her play list, I feel that I could have made the wedding way more enjoyable and crowd interactive. A good bit of her music selections were decent, and the crowd danced the last hour or so of the reception, but I could of brought the reception to the next level if I interjected some interactive songs.

It’s kind of like running a engine with water in the tank. The engine will still run, just not to its best performance. Her play list was the water in my gas tank. Please view some of our recent feedback that was emailed or called into us at http://www.rockitpro.info/client-feedback/ and also on www.theknot.com. Please call the office if you have any questions about this wedding, I will be glad to discuss it.

We were so disappointed with Archie, the DJ who played our wedding. He was unprepared, unprofessional and the music at our wedding and reception was the low point of an otherwise awesome day.

We completed the online forms out in detail and provided the complete list of songs we wanted played the Sunday before the wedding, yet all of this preparation was a waste of time. We didn't think we would have any issues considering how simple our request was - set up speakers and hit play on our playlist, but we were wrong. He did not follow any of what we had specified on the form and I had to spend multiple moments during the night going over music with him or the planners instead of enjoying the wedding.

We put a lot of thought into selecting songs that had significance for us, our family and friends, so it was extremely disappointing that many of these songs didn't get played at all.

Here is a bit more detail about the issues we experienced:
    - He played the wrong song when my father and I walked down the aisle
    - He messed up our first dance song
    - He played multiple songs we didn't have on our list
    - He did not have the playlist queued up and was searching for each song as he went - I was really surprised that he didn't have the playlist saved, especially considering he found the time to eat dinner before many of our guests did, yet was not able to find time to prepare more than one song ahead of what was being played.
    - He didn't play many of the songs on our list
    - He played our last dance song at two different times during the night

I regret not asking Archie to stop playing and instead just hooking up my phone to play Spotify for the remainder of the night, as it would've been much less stressful and we would've known for sure that every song we wanted to hear would've been played.

    Rock-It Productions's reply:

ARCHIE: after set up, I wasn’t able to find Lisa(bride) right off so I asked the coordinator about the ceremony music to double check to make sure it was correct, she said everything looked right. However, at the reception, I found out the walk out song was the wrong one; I had no clue, when I searched for the song the Beatles – In my life, the only songs that pulled up were The Beatles – got to get you into my life. I really did not know it was two different songs and I have had that song requested before so I thought it was correct, and, the coordinator also thought it was correct. During the reception all of the requested songs were played during the specific sections; cocktail hour, dinner, and then dancing with the exception of two songs during the cocktail hour. I did let the bride know that I did not have two of the songs and asked for alternatives and she gave me a few songs to play, and played them. At some point during the beginning of the reception I had a few people (3 people to be exact) request that I play “We are Family”, I played it. The guest seemed to love it as everyone was dancing, this was when the bride mentioned to me to stick to the list provided and I told her that 3 people asked for it, then I did not take any additional request. Toward the end of the reception the coordinator came up, in which we spoke about the ending; she mentioned a last dance song. The last song was not specified on the email or online submission. The coordinator said to play the last song on the list (which I had played during the first 30 mins of the dancing time slot). This was the only song that was played more than once as I hate playing the same song twice during a session. I believe there was also a communication error with the coordinator as well, as she verified the walk out song and told me what song to play last. She also told me when to play the bride and groom's first dance, which stated was "messed up",I did exactly what the coordinator asked of me.
