My husband and I are so happy we chose Rio Plaza for our wedding venue. There were other places that would have worked for us but the large windows overlooking the Riverwalk from the Grande Vista helped to top them all for our reception and having our ceremony on their rooftop was everything we hoped for. Christine Blankenship was always welcoming and responded in a timely, friendly, and professional manner during our planning process and always made us feel like she understood that even though she does this multiple times a week that this was going to be our one and only wedding. We really appreciated her patience and grace while we were planning and had multiple questions, sometimes the same question a few times; a blessing to a nervous bride-to-be. The set up for our ceremony area was exactly how we envisioned it as well as the reception room which was set up beautifully; Christine worked wonderfully and professionally with our vendors. During our reception, Christine, Kimberly and the rest of the Rio Plaza staff were friendly to our guests, assisting, directing and checking on us to make sure we had our deliciously made food which was also catered by Rio Plaza, and drinks throughout the evening. We are so thankful for them because it really does fly by. Thank you Rio Plaza, Christine and all the staff members that worked to make our wedding day extra special. My husband is still getting messages and comments from friends and family that it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to.

Great space, wonderful staff
We had a great experience with Rio Plaza. Unfortunately, the pandemic required us to postpone our wedding celebration. Although we had a small hiccup in communication due to staff turnover during the pandemic, the owner and other staff were extremely quick to remedy the situation. They were fantastic and very flexible in helping us plan our reception. We were able to go look at the space more than once, and we met several times with the owner and Kimberly to go over details. Kimberly was so kind and prompt in all her communication, and was very attentive on the day of the wedding. It seemed that anything I thought to ask, she had already thought of and accommodated! The wait staff was great, and all our guests expressed how much they enjoyed the venue. After having such a wonderful experience with Rio Plaza, I feel I can highly recommend this venue!

Christine was amazing!
We looked into Rio Plaza because we wanted to do downtown San Antonio at Christmas time. We met with a couple downtown vendors but the Grande Vista room won us over with their windows overlooking the river walk and their comprehensive package. Our coordinator was Christine Blankenship and she went out of her way to help us out when we needed or to accommodate requests that we had! Super responsive and friendly, overall great experience! I am so happy that we chose to have our wedding reception at Rio Plaza in the Grande Vista room! From the first look at the venue, Christine was so helpful. She answered every question I had and made us feel comfortable about everything. She walked us through every step, and made sure we had everything we wanted. They were really quick to respond to any question or email I sent and I got advice and suggestions where I needed it. The reception went off without a hitch, thanks to Christine being there to coordinate. I highly recommend this venue! We had an absolutely beautiful reception on the river walk, the price was very reasonable, and the food was excellent. Thank you!!!

There aren’t enough words to summarize how incredible the Rio Plaza team is!
From day one, they delivered top-notch service and exceeded all expectations.
My husband and I were assisted day and night from the team, and they helped to keep us calm every step of the way.
We had our rehearsal dinner at Pizzarita’s at the same location— it was amazing. The food was so good, my husband and I went back the next day to grab a bite before our wedding that night.
We went with Grande Vista for our ceremony and reception. We wanted an intimate, romantic event with our 110 guests... and boy, did the Rio Plaza team deliver!
The food at the reception was amazing, the drinks were excellent, the rooms are stunning, and the staff members are very professional!
Many of our family members and friends told us the next day how this was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever been to.

We couldn't have picked a better place than Rio Plaza. Christine and the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing and easy to work with. They make you feel welcomed everytime you visit with them. We thank them so much for allowing us to celebrate our special day with them. Pricing is responsible, they have different rooms available to choose from, and the food was great! All of our friends and family enjoy our wedding and said they felt very comfortable,relaxed, and absolutely enjoyed the margaritas and the views of downtown during our ceremony. Words cannot express my gratitude and how beautiful this venue is. We had our ceremony held on the roof top of 4th floor of Las Leyandes and reception in the 2nd floor of Grande Vista. We had a coordinator Christine who was so sweet and easy going. She and Kimberly made sure to make everything as perfect as can be and helped kept the night going smoothly. I can honestly say I enjoyed our wedding so much, I wish we could do it again. The pricing was within our budget and was all inclusive! The table decor, set up, catering, bar made planning so easy. Super responsive and professional staff. I could not recommend this venue enough and I cannot wait for another event to occur so I can utilize them again.

My son’s wedding at Rio Plaza was a beautiful event. Every detail that we planned was perfectly fulfilled with Melanie and her wonderful staff. The venue is absolutely breath-taking, the evening lights of San Antonio illuminated the dinner and evening dance in the Grand Vista salon. Melanie was awesome to deal with, I scheduled several meeting, exchange emails and phone calls to plan the perfect event. Melanie was very compassionate, professional and fun to deal with. I planned this wedding for my son and daughter in law that live in Los Angeles. My son just started a new job at a law firm and my daughter in law was completing her Law School classes, they both were extremely busy. They entrusted me to plan all the details for the wedding. I was able to accomplish giving them the most beautiful wedding with the help of Melanie and Kimmie. The Bride and Groom walked into a fantasy wedding with every detail perfectly planned. 50th Anniversary for parents was a hit!
We celebrated my parent's 50th anniversary in the Salon Azul. We found Rio Plaza while searching online. We are so glad we did. Melanie and her team were professional, personable, and responsive. They calmed our nerves about putting on such a big event, giving us ideas for food, decorations, flow of guests, etc. The location is beautiful on the Riverwalk, the venue is classy, and the price is reasonable.

Rehearsal dinner made easy long distance
Planning a rehearsal dinner in San Antonio while living in Boston could have been a challenge. After being in the food hospitality business for more than 40 years Knew what I wanted. After exploring several venues one weekend, it was clear that Christine Blankenship was willing to go above and beyond to provide a great experience. She sold the venue as far as I'm concerned. At that point, the food was secondary. The operating staff (Kim and her team) was great and the food was perfect for our group. I'd happily recommend Rita's!

The staff was great! Christine and Melanie were very professional and very helpful. Our anniversary party was a great success. Everyone was impressed with the venue and the food. It was a great night!

FABULOUS wedding venue. The price was very reasonable for the level of service that we received. Melanie thought through every detail and helped to make our day perfect. I received a complement from one of my most fickle guests about the quality of the food (whew!). The location made for great photos as well. We did the premium margaritas and they were GOOD. The behind the scenes coordination ensured that everything flowed smoothly throughout the entire evening. Melanie was a joy to work with. Can't wait for an excuse to do another event there!

Melanie was amazing to work with and so knowledgeable. She made the process stress free and seemless for me which is amazing. The venue was perfect - especially for the pricing! My family and friends said what a wonderful wedding it was how great it went. We had our wedding ceremony on the fourth floor balcony and went down to the 3rd floor Calle Vista room for the reception and both were more than I could of dreamed. Thank you Melanie and team for making my day so fantastic!! Especially in such short notice!!

I am the Mother of the Bride and loved Rio Plaza. Melanie Planas and her staff were so accommodating to our needs. I thought we would have to go over and decorate. Melanie asked our preferences and whenever we walked in after the wedding ceremony, all was done to perfection. Our wedding coordinator mentioned to me that Melanie was "on top of everything". We highly recommend this beautiful venue. We stayed at the Omni La Mansion del Rio and it was so convenient. Our guests didn't have to drive and park (just walked across the foot bridge). On top of everything else, they stayed safe on their walk back to the hotel and didn't have to drive after a few drinks. The Rio Plaza is an awesome venue. Give them a whirl if you need a place. Our second floor offered a gorgeous view of the river with all the lights.

Rio Plaza was perfect for our Wedding Welcome Party. The venu gave our out of town guests a great experience on The River Walk. Melanie was great to work with and she really made sure everything went smoothly! I would highly recommend this spot for any party!

Rio Plaza was a wonderful place to have our wedding. After visiting several venues in and around the San Antonio area, my husband and I decided on Rio Plaza. I am so glad that we did. The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, the margaritas were still being talked about by our guests and they all told us that they had so much fun! The price was very reasonable and included, a day of coordinator, food, table decorations, clean-up, set-up, drinks, and venue for reception and ceremony. Melanie, the wedding coordinator was helpful, cheerful and quickly helped with any obstacles we encountered. I had a stress-free wedding day because everything was handled so well by Melanie and the staff at Rio Plaza. I would highly recommend having any event at this venue! They made our special day, truly, the BEST day ever!

Melanie and the staff that helped the evening of the 17th were beyond amazing. Everyone who attended all spoke so highly of the staff of how nice and how professional everyone was. There are not words to explain how much Melanie helped us throughout the process, from the day we went to review the venue for the first time to the evening when we were collecting all of the things to be taken home. Melanie knowing that we both lived out of town made everything so simple and easy for us. I must say that the next party we have we will definately be using Rio. We will also be recommending this location to all of our friends and family, of which a few have already expressed there intent to use Rio for there upcoming events. We rate this a five star location. With the five star hospitality down to the five star location. We thank you for making this very special day for us even more amazing. Melanie is the BEST!!!

The ease of planning and attention to detail make this beautiful venue worth it! The staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating and very easy to work with. The venue itself is well located with ample parking. The event spaces are very picturesque. All details were attended to and we arrived at the event to see everything was done as we discussed. During the event the staff were very attentive. I highly recommend this venue!

The Rio Plaza is the absolute best! They have many different rooms you can book- we used them for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. The food was AMAZING! Our guests raved about the food. The service was great and the staff was so friendly. We worked with Melanie and she is the best! She was so organized and was present 100% of the time. When I arrived on site, the entire team was professional and so helpful. I arrived early to set up all my decoration with they helped me set up and even take down at the end of the night. OMG - Book here with Melanie!!!! She makes it so easy and thinks of everything. She has contacts she can recommend if you need someone and the staff was so very professional and attentive during our event. We brought in a lot of personal décor and the ballroom was stunning! The food was also incredible. We had the almond crusted chicken and mashed potatoes and received MANY compliments on the food. It was easy, it was wonderful and Melanie and her staff are INCREDIBLE!!! We could not have been more pleased! It was a perfect evening!

There isn't enough words to explain how wonderful Melanie was. She really gave us a stree-free, beautiful ceremony and wedding. The venue itself is gorgeous and was perfect for our budget! We had catering through Rita's, and the had so many compliments on the food. People talked about it for weeks. Melanie worked on our time and helped us with anything we needed. As a Wedding Officiant I have Officiated many weddings in many venues but I couldn't be happier with choosing Rio Plaza as my son and new daughter in laws wedding venue. The different venues they have are absolutely gorgeous and the ceremony area is breathtaking. As for Melaney our on site Wedding coordinator, she was absolutely a godsent! She anticipated our needs, made wonderful suggestions, and went out of her way to help us bring our vision to life. The entire staff was very professional as well, they even packed up at the end of the night. They took great care of every detail so that we could enjoy our sons wedding. The two things that made the decision for us were first, the space (las leyendas) and second the manager/planner, Melanie, who handled our event. The view from the 4th floor balcony is amazing and the space had a really nice breeze- important because we had our ceremony outside (even in November SA can be warm!). The reception room is beautiful and the bar and restrooms were well placed but still unobtrusive. Rio Plaza catered for us and there were lots of compliments on the food and drinks- especially the margaritas! Melanie met with us through the whole process and was on-site during the wedding to make sure everyone was where they were supposed to be and to help with any minor mishaps (even hot glue for one of the bouquets). She is a true professional and made working with Rio Plaza a pleasure. I would happily recommend Rio Plaza-

When shopping around for reception venues, my fiancé and I were looking for a setting that provided a unique ambiance but would not kill our budget. Upon visiting Rio Plaza and meeting with Melanie Planas, we knew it was our ideal venue. To begin, the location is the BEST. It is right on the Riverwalk and surrounded by so much vibrancy and San Antonio culture. The next highlight for us was working with Melanie as the venue coordinator. Melanie is extremely knowledgeable, professional and SO accommodating when it comes to making your dream wedding come to life. I had a TON of questions and concerns because I did not hire a wedding planner but Melanie was always very responsive and found a way to work with me on every request I made. The food was delicious, the drinks were awesome and it did not break our bank. In fact, every guest I have spoken to since the wedding has complimented us on how awesome and unique our venue was! I HIGHLY recommend Rio Plaza for your wedding or event. You will not be disappointed.

Rio Plaza was such a unique and wonderful venue for our family and friends to celebrate our wedding reception. Located in the heart of the San Antonio Riverwalk, it was easily accessible for parking, food, and events around town before and after our event. Our wedding planner, Traci Burton was an absolute GODSEND from start to finish... EVEN POST EVENT - following up on additional photos and loose ends. We toured a number of venues in the San Antonio area as it is an ideal central location for our guests from both Houston and Dallas to convene. We immediately felt at home meeting with Traci. Instant good-vibes.
The Wedding Planner:
Traci has the perfect personality for this role. She was EASILY 5 steps ahead of us the entire time. We are so thankful that she was able to make coordinating an event from two different cities (Houston and Dallas) SO easy for our entire family. She gave us a tour of a few of the spaces the venue has to offer. We were never once "pushed" to make an upgrade on our space, instead knew instantly upon seeing the Grande Vista space that this was where we were meant to host our event. Traci was also superb in offering us a number of vendors in the area which she had personally vetted and gave her "stamp of approval." She was right on every, single one of the selections.
The Space:
We selected the Grande Vista which featured wall-to-wall windows overlooking the San Antonio Riverwalk providing breathtaking views for our guests. The space was large enough to comfortably host all of our 120+ guests, a photobooth, a projector slideshow of our wedding photos, a dessert table, a full bar and a buffet. It is immaculate and provides an old-world, classical feel. Such a lovely space. Our guests were very happy.
The Food:
Traci allowed my Mom, Dad, Husband (even our dog) to taste-test, prior to booking the venue. We opted for the Mexican-style buffet and were very pleased with the options! Thanks again for everything, Rio Plaza!

We had a fiesta event at Rio Plaza, and everything was fantastic! I brought most of the decorations for the party, but Melanie went the extra mile by adding even more decorations the venue carries in-house which made the event even more festive (there is no such thing as too much decoration when it comes to Fiesta!). The entire staff was incredibly helpful and went out of their way to take care of every guest. Melanie checked-in with me periodically throughout the event to make sure everything was going smoothly, and even sent me some photos she had snapped throughout the event. Overall, I highly recommend this venue for location, service, and experience-for you and your guests.

The entire staff has a professionalism that is hard to find. Every member made sure our event was flawless and above and beyond our expectations. Tracy, Melanie and the WHOLE staff made us feel like family from day one. We received star treatment and will continue to recommend this venue to all of our friends!

Melanie and the entire Rio Plaza staff went above and beyond to make our wedding reception flawless. We are still receiving compliments on how wonderful the food was, and how beautiful the venue is. I cannot thank them enough for all of the hard work they put in to making our event a success. If you are looking for a venue and staff that cares about details and will work to create an event that is personalized to your specific wants, Rio Plaza should be at the top of your list. I cannot recommend this venue enough. Thank you Rio Plaza!!

We had our wedding reception at Rio Plaza in November 2015 and it was absolutely magical and special! Traci and her team at Rio Plaza made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free! They were all very professional and always responsive and willing to help ensure our special day was exactly what we dreamed of and more! I highly recommend this for anyone wanting a party with a great view of the Riverwalk!

Traci Burton and the Rio Plaza were wonderful. The minute we saw the room, we knew it was perfect for our cocktail wedding reception. The Rio Plaza has so many different rooms, there is something for pretty much everyone's taste. They made everything so easy & were responsive to some last minute changes I requested. Everyone had a great time, especially me, because I didn't have to worry about anything on the day!

Melanie and her entire staff at Rio Plaza were excellent! Melanie worked with us throughout the process, even adjusting things to fit our hectic schedules, and everything looked beautiful on the day of the wedding. We've received nothing but compliments from our guests about the atmosphere and decor. Everyone had a great time! I highly commend Melanie and Rio Plaza!

Everything and everyone at Rio Plaza made our wedding go off without a hitch. Everyone told us what a beautiful venue it was. What they didn't know was what went on behind the scenes. Melanie made sure everything was just the way we wanted it. She set everything up and we didn't have to spend the afternoon decorating. We were missing an auxillary cord and she got it for us.The food was excellent. We also received lots of comments on that...especially the meatballs. It was a wonderful evening and over before we knew it!
One suggestion: Make sure and use a microphone for any announcements or the officiant. Music from below carries up to the balcony.

This venue was perfect for my son's rehearsal dinner. Traci helped me plan every last detail and made everything very easy for me. Her effiecent team did all the decorating, catering, bar tending and cleaning. The food was delicious and the views of the river walk were beautiful. The event was a huge success! I would love to use this same location for my company holiday party! Thanks, Traci!

I would highly recommend this venue only if you are able to work with Melanie P. Melanie is extremely organized, pays excellent attention to detail, and is very polite and responsive. She made the experience very pleasant with quick responses to emails and her flexibility and understanding. The encounters I had with the other staff were not quite the same as with Melanie. The venue itself is beautiful and the location was exactly what we wanted for out of town guests. I would highly recommend this venue! It is unique, beautiful, and has an excellent downtown location overlooking the river. It was an added bonus that we were able to do the reception there as well!

Catie Cottingham was our event coordinator, and my husband and I simply loved her! She was very professional, quick to reply to any of our questions and concerns, and she was on top of things. The food was great, many selections to choose from, and very good! All my guests were very pleased.

Absolutely fantastic!!!! The staff (Melanie, Catie, Tracy) completely surpassed our expectations. Latoya and I could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out. That food was delish!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I could have eaten about 8 of the chicken/bacon. Rita's needs to start serving that as an entree lol. Thank you for all of your hard work. I hope my family did not annoy to much. You guys (ladies) are awesome!!!!!!!!!!

My wedding was a fairy tail thanks to the staff at Rio Plaza. I am grateful that I found this venue. Catie Cottingham worked hard to make sure our wedding day was exactly what we wanted. She kept me calm and US first...more than you can ask for the most important day of your life! I am grateful to Melanie Planas and Traci Burton for making our experience with Rio Plazas unforgettable. The staff here is considered family because they truly went above and beyond all of our expectations. I will DEFINITELY keep this venue in mind for future events and tell all of my friends what a great experience it was. People are still talking about how wonderful our wedding was. From the manager to the serving staff (Jeffrey was OUTSTANDING!) we could not have asked for a better experience. From the balcony/Las Layendas room to the Grande Vista room...it was truly beautiful! All of you deserve an award!! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

We had our wedding on September 6, 2014. The Rio Plaza itself is gorgeous and the staff is excellent. Melanie was our coordinator. The staff worked well with us on our budget and found prices/packages that fit. Our Wedding Ceremony was in the beautiful Las Leyendas Tuscany style hand painted ceiling and walls decorated with red roses displayed a romantic vibe. The reception was located in the Cielo Vista more than enough room for our guests. Melanie went out of her way to make sure all was exactly as we had wished. All the complements our family and friends gave us on our wedding showed with all the hard work Melanie and her staff put in to make sure all went perfectly well. If you are on a “Budget” for a wedding - this place is perfect. I have to be honest as I would hope all other reviews are the food served at the reception had excellent sides, loaded mash potatoes and seasoned green beans. The main course was chicken breast served with sautéed onions and a mushroom topped with cheese but was overly cooked and dry. At our tasting the chicken served was moist, tender and we even wanted more it was so delicious! Several of our guests complimented us that we had a beautiful wedding and most said the chicken was dry. We had a cash bar and our guest said the drinks were not watered down. Our family was so amazed with how Melanie and her staff hosted the wedding and how quickly they cleaned and packed up our decorations and wedding gifts. Our family did not have to help host or clean at the wedding and were able to enjoy themselves dancing and having good times. I just can't say enough about the attentiveness of Melanie and hard work to make sure our wedding was exactly as we wished and she made the entire process easy and pleasant. We were able to enjoy our special day! Thank you, Melanie and the Rio Plaza staff.

Everyone at the Rio Plaza was so helpful and friendly. I didn't have to worry about anything. They took care of everything and we were able to enjoy our special day. Melanie was the best. Anything I wanted she made it happen. The whole event was well planned and went off without a hitch. The food was delicious and everyone loved it. It was a great way to start our new life together. If you want a team of people help put your event together, then you should consider Rio Plaza. I will definitely use them again.

We had the best time working with Rio Plaza. I had not a care in the world knowing Traci and her team were taking care of every aspect of our special day. Everything turned out fabulous and we enjoyed every minute of it! We had our ceremony on the 4th floor, the dinner on the 3rd floor, and then the dancing back on the 4th floor. Everything went off without a problem (and if there was a problem, I did not know about it and it was just handled)!

I couldn't ask for a better coordinator!! Catie Cottingham and her wonderful staff made sure everything ran smoothly, although; I was a bit late to my own wedding, which pushed back our timeline of events. Love her to death! Very insightful and compatible! :-)

Traci was superb in everything she did for us, took all the stress away and was there for whatever we or our guests required.
