Great photos and videos and experience

Rick was extremely professional and helpful. He walked us through our wedding day photograph sessions. He was always quick to respond, whether it be questions via email or text. While talking with Rick, my husband and he bonded over drones, and Rick gave us the option of drone footage.
We had an engagement photo session with Lauren, and the wedding photo sessions with Lauren and Eric. Videography was done by Fred. They were all super nice and helpful people, which was much needed on a stressful day like a wedding day. They all knew how to compose a shot and gave very clear instructions.
We received a highlight video, which all our family and friends loved, shortly after the day, and the full video and photos a few weeks later. The photos came out amazing! The drone footage also turned out really well (thankfully it did not rain!). Everyone has remarked out how great they turned out. We're still in the process of picking and choosing photos for the photo book. Overall, we loved our experience with Rick and his team, and highly recommend them to anyone seeking photographers/videographers for weddings or other special occasions.

Our wedding was July 1, 2017 and we couldn’t be happier that we used Rick Helman photography. As a newly engaged couple, we had no idea how important finding the right photographer was. As soon as we met Rick, we knew he was it! In our initial meeting Rick, we were incredibly impressed with the work that he showed us and we immediately were made to feel comfortable and heard due to his personable demeanor. Rick was not pushy, but rather he listened and made helpful suggestions. On the day of our wedding his entire crew was punctual, respectful, positive and energetic. We were thrilled to be surrounded by such wonderful people on our special day and beyond happy with our engagement photos, our wedding photos and our highlight video. We cannot thank Rick and his crew enough for capturing our love and happiness on our special day. I should also mentioned that a storm rolled in while we were taking our pictures and we got some INCREDIBLE shots, so there’s no need to panic if the weather looks rainy on the big day with Rick as your photographer.

Rick and his team are incredibly talented and professional!! It was a pleasure to work with Rick as we planned our wedding. He was flexible and accommodating throughout!! Usually taking pictures in 90 degree weather isn't a pleasant experience, but Rick and his team knew exactly what they were doing and were quick to get the best shot on the first try. The MORNING after our wedding we woke up to Rick already posting an INCREDIBLE picture from our night and a video recap of special moments. Cannot give Rick enough stars and cannot wait to see the rest of our pictures!!!!

I do not even have words for how amazing Rick and his team were on our wedding day. We got married on June 9, 2017, and from beginning to end we knew he would take care of us. Rick and his team were there for a total of 9 hours and they were always happy and willing to make sure we got every image we wanted If we requested it, he made sure we got it. He got shots that my husband and I could only dream about, which all turned out better than we imagined. We also had our engagement session with Rick, which was a blast. He really captured our love for one another, along with our personalities, in every image. We cannot wait to see the rest of our photos to come.

Rick shot our wedding at Seasons on March 25th, 2017. Throughout the entire process, Rick was so above and beyond AMAZING! We even became good friends over the course of a year of planning! We felt completely and totally comfortable leaving the massive responsibility of photo and video of our big day in the capable hands of Rick Helman! If you are looking for the right guy to handle and and all of your photo / video needs for your big event - stop looking. You found your guy! He does not disappoint! :-)

We had seen some of the photos taken by Rick at our venue, the New York Country Club. And we had heard of his reputation through them and our DJ. Anyone we talked to said the same thing “He is the best. He may be a little bit pricey, but it’s so worth it”. And they weren’t lying. My husband and I only had to wait about 3 weeks after the wedding to receive ALL of our finalized photos – touched up and everything. We went through each one, and both of us cried. The pictures were perfect. There’s no better word to describe them. They captured each moment of our day perfectly, and reliving each moment of that day was nothing short of bliss. Our photographers, Lauren and Joe, were patient with us (a somewhat rowdy bunch), came with great ideas, and even stayed until the end of wedding, even though that meant staying longer than originally contracted to, by a few HOURS. They were “ghosts” during the reception, but still got the perfect shots, and weren’t “in your face” during the reception, but still managed to capture the joy on each persons’ face. Every big and little moment that meant everything to us that day was captured in photos, and they were perfect. I would recommend them to ANYONE. Such nice people, so much fun, and they really make you feel so comfortable in front of the camera (for those like me who don’t like to be photographed). They may be a LITTLE pricier than some, but let’s be honest, for the photos that will last you forever, on the biggest day of your life, THESE are the guys you want!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED, I PROMISE!

Rick and his crew captured our memories expertly. I recently received my photos, and I love reliving the day all over again. Rick made everyone at ease and got every shot that we requested. We picked Rick for my daughters wedding and it was the right choice!!
Rick was a pleasure to work with.
My daughter had a fall wedding and most pictures were outside.
The bride and groom looked wonderful in all the pics, we will have a hard time deciding which to choose since so many were great.

We met Rick at his home & immediately knew he was the one to capture our special day. He places you at ease with his professional & friendly demeanor, knows what the client wants & is extremely accommodating. From start to finish he works with you to capture some of the most memorable & magical shots that will eternally grace your wedding album for you & your family to enjoy. Rick was amazing to work with, he is very detail oriented and professional. He was able to capture our personalities perfectly and have each pose look incredibly natural, which was important to me. All the photos from our wedding are incredible, Rick was able to capture each moment perfectly. Most notably, taking an 85 person family photo with everyone visible. I would definitely recommend Rick!

I have to say that Rick really listened to what i wanted. He was professional and the photos came out AMAZING!! He really made my dreams come true!!! He was very flexible and also did exactly what i wanted without having to remind him:) if i could do it all over again i would use him in a heartbeat! Rick was great in every way , professional and friendly. He made us feel comfortable and got all the perfect shots. During the ceremony I didn't even notice he was there and yet the pictures were perfect could not ask for more . The pics came out great and his fees were very fair.

Our photos were phenomenal! We worked with Herman because Rick was not available that day. Herman was a pleasure to work with. He had a great personality and our guests liked him as well. He arrived early to begin taking pictures, was very polite, and had great ideas. We wanted pictures outside because we thought the winter scenery would look beautiful, and he withstood the elements with us and our pictures came out beautiful. We were impressed that Rick had our photos on disc before we even came back from our honeymoon--it was within two weeks of our wedding. Rick has also been a pleasure to work with. We changed our wedding date and venue but he was amenable to honoring our deposit and doing the photography for the wedding. We highly recommend Rick!

Rick did a fantastic job photographing my wedding. Within three days of the wedding, he had already put together a photo montage of pictures from the wedding. He takes such creative pictures and he made sure to show the pictures to me right after he took them. He was so easy to work with and he was wonderful about organizing our large families for group pictures. I would definitely recommend Rick!

When my husband and I were planning our wedding we went to see at least 5 photographers and videographers. My husband wanted to use Rick Helman from the start. He felt that it was important for him to have a good connection with our photographer. Rick and his team were amazing. They were reliable and prompt, they listened to what we had to say and took photographs of anything we wanted. They made us laugh and definitely added to the enjoyment of our day. My husband and I were also impressed with Rick's professionalism, go with the flow demeanor, and his ideas for unique wedding photos. Thanks again for making our day so special.

Rick Helman and his team really helped to make our wedding the amazing day that my husband and I had hoped it would be. They were punctual, courteous and thoughtful. Rick put at us ease and made us laugh even when I was stressed by all the other details of the wedding. The pictures truly look incredible. They came up with very unique poses and fun shots for us, and the videographer was there to capture every moment all day long so we could just enjoy the time. Rick and his photographer arrived on time - actually EARLY - and started to work right away. Between the two of them , they must've taken thousands of pictures. Our guests can't say enough good things about them and the pictures ( we only seen part of them ) turned out so beautiful. Rick is very talented and you won't regret choosing him.

Rick was absolutely amazing! Rick and his staff made it a flawless day! Rick and his crew made us feel comfortable throughout the entire day, and the pictures were absolutely phenomenal! When starting my wedding plans the only thing that ever mattered to me was having perfect pictuers. Since at the end of the day that is the only thing your going to be able to walk away with. Rick was amazing with me! He would show me the pictuers as we went to ensure I was happy, he was so easy to work with and so much fun. I just got my proofing pictuers 15 days later! I couldn't be happier and I am truly so fussy about pictuers of me. He did an amazing job as I knew he would. I would recommend him to anyone!!!

What can I say about Rick other than he's an absolute pleasure to work with. We were planning our wedding long distance which isn't easy. Rick was as professional and responsive as could be and really helped make the process less daunting. We haven't put together our album yet, but are having trouble even narrowing down which pictures to choose, which should tell you something about his work. He captured every important moment and then some. I wouldn't hesitate to rec. Rick to anyone.

Rick was fantastic. His work caught our eye at a Bridal Show and we instantly loved it. He was the only vendor we chose without a personal recommendation and we were not disappointed. He was also the only photographer that we actually met with, every other studio we met with an office manager. He was always pleasant to deal with and answered emails in a timely manner. Both he and Edwin, our second photographer, were so fabulous on the day of. Our Bridal Party had a great time. The pictures are beautiful. They did a nice job capturing our essence as well as our friends, so we have serious and fun pictures to remember the day. Rick takes great pride in his work and we would highly recommend Rick Helman Photography.

Rick was so great to work with. He was very relaxed and low key and many people commented on how unobtrusive both he and the other photographer were on the day of the wedding. Now, less than a month later, I already have access to all of my proofs online and they are gorgeous.

I couldn't be happier with the experience in working with Rick Helman from start to finish. Rick and his team were extremely professional ALL DAY. They arrived early and got right to work taking photos of the dress, flowers, rings, invitations, shoes, etc. Rick made me feel at ease throughout the day. When he was taking the photos of just the bride (me), he would share a few of the best shots with me. I looked gorgeous in those photos and carried on that confidence all day long! Rick's team was so professional and helpful and worked quickly to get the best and right shots. We had a very large party and they were able to get everyone organized quickly. They took all the necessary family shots and multiples quickly so we had at least 1 perfect shot of every set of people. He also has a great artistic eye, and we have plenty beautiful scenic shots on the beach, at the rocks, and playful shots throughout the night. Rick and his team stayed until we were fully satisfied that every last shot was taken, and even when they were about to leave and we requested one last FRIENDS FROM TEXAS shot, they organized 30 people together and took one of our favorite shots of the night! They got all the right pictures without us really feeling them at the reception. They were unobtrusive, professional and took AMAZING PHOTOS. We had the website up to review within a week or so and have spent the last few months enjoying the pictures and deciding which ones we want for our album. We can not wait to get our video too!!! When the limo bus was late to pick us up for the church, Rick and team offered to drive us in their cars. On the bus back to the reception, Rick and team helped by passing out drinks and keeping our guests quenched! (And never complained about the cramped bus ride back to the reception)! My whole party had GREAT things to say about Rick and his team and they all loved the photos and artistic flare. Even when I had enough of the heat and sun and had to call it quits outside, Rick and team kept shooting pictures of the guys and the family and getting some great keepers for the families to have for years to come!! They didn't waste a moment...

Rick Helman Photography was an absolute delight to work with! From the very beginning Rick went out of his way to accomodate us.. from being flexible with meeting, as we lived out of state, to answering our many emails, and phone calls, to calming our nerves the day of the wedding, to providing us with absolutely gorgeous photos of our wedding day. We can't thank Rick and one of his his associates, Herman, enough for all the beautiful photo memories we now have. First off, Rick Helman was extremly professional, cooperative, timely and responsive to 1000 questions and emails I had prior to our wedding. He made sure I was completly in the know and comfortable with the services i would be getting. Rick Helman and an assistant, Chris, came to our wedding to photograph and all I can say is that both my husband and I could not have been happier. They not only were friendly and fun, but knowledgable and flexible to what we and our wedding party were feeling/wanted. They took AMAZING photographs which were able to bring tears to my eyes upon the initial veiwing of the proofs! They were able to capture the memories and feelings in photographs like I have never seen before. Rick helman Photography is worth every penny that we paid them. I would use them again for any other function I may have in the future and HIGHLY recommend Rick Helman Photography to any one!

We absolutely love Rick! Rick is the consummate professional - responds to e-mails almost immediately, handled touchy family issues beautifully, and above all delivered gorgeous photos! Rick was on time, took all of our requested shots and took over 1100 pictures! We couldn't be happier with our pictures and our guests were impressed by his subtlety. Many weren't even aware of his presence, while he got fantastic shots of them! We highly recommend Rick for future brides!

Wow- that's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Rick and his work as a photographer. His pictures from our wedding were truly beautiful and unique. He really captured the special moments on our wedding day. Rick is not only professional but really personable as well. In fact, each time we met we spent time talking about the wedding plans and prints as well as our families and schools for our daughters. He felt more like a friend than just our wedding photographer! I recommend Rick to anyone who wants amazing photographs while being completely at ease during the whole wedding process.

Rick was an absolute pleasure to work with and 100% professional. His work is the absolute best I have seen. The photography is AMAZING and very original. All of the shots were very artistic and I can not wait to get my album back. Rick was awesome to work with. He answered every question, emailed me back right away, was enthusiastic to work with, and was very timely in getting everything to me. His team took awesome pictures...they said they would take about 500-1000 and ended up taking over 2000 pictures, which created great variety when choosing for my album. The videographer was amazing also! The editing was great and included everything that should be there! Of all of the vendors that we dealt with, my husband and I agree that Rick was the best one!

Rick Helman's photography is absolutely beautiful. The artistry that he puts into each shot is amazing. We are so happy with the way our photos turned out. We did not want cookie cutter images and poses and he delivered on exactly what we wanted. His pricing is extremely fair for the market and he does not nickel and dime you for extras. We used Rick Helman Photography for our wedding day. Rick was an amazing person to work with throughout the entire process start to finish. The day of the wedding it was like having another family member there with me as I got ready. Rick was very professional as he worked but also made me feel extremely comfortable. My husband and I could not be any happy with the final product that we have gotten from Rick. Our pictures are truly amazing and Rick was able to capture the story of our day beautifully. I practically searched the entire NY/CT area for the BEST photographer to capture our entire wedding day from start to finish. Someone that would recreate our entire wedding through each photo taken (who doesn't want that??)! Someone who is flexible and can work with my time and budget. Well, Rick Helman was that person! When I came across Rick's portfolio, there was no hesitation to pick up the phone and call him right away. His work is exquisite and shows his talent of, not only his ability to capture each moment of the special occassion, but to also uncovering the most unique and excentric photo shots one could find (He shot our wedding in March and as a result of his passion and creativity, I now have the most beautiful, ORIGINAL bride shots of me in my beautiful ivory gown in the antique attic of my childhood home - they are simply AMAZING!!).

Rick Helman photographed our wedding. Not only is he the consummate professional, but his work is out-of-this-world beautiful!!!

Rick was recommended by a guest at a wedding that Rick has photographed. She told me she had never seen such beautiful photographs and that she highly recommended him.

When I went to meet Rick at his studio, I was mesmerized by the quality, artistry and beauty of his work. He is a very skilled technician and a true artist.

All I can say is that I love Rick and his team! They saved our day. Due to some major timing issues by our limo company we were over and hour behind schedule. When we left the church Rick actually called our reception site to let them know that we were on our way!! I had setup a couple of surprises for my husband and he knew that we wanted to see some of our cocktail hour so he let the reception site know to just hold everyone there just a little longer. How many photographers do you know will do that for you?!?!?! Since we were so behind schedule we didn't have time to take photos before the reception. Rick only pulled us out from the reception for 30 minutes. Now I will admit I was worried. how nice can our pictures be with just 30 minutes worth of photos. Well boy was I blown away! The photos are breathtaking! Every single one of them is amazing! To this day, 3 months after my wedding, I still cry when I look at them! He captured the day beautifully. I owe him sooooo much. I couldn't be happier with him. He is well worth every penny spent on our photos. Every photo from the prep to the reception was perfect. If you choose Rick you won't be sorry!

I've praised Rick on this board many times before because I believe he is extremely talented. We were impressed with his work before the wedding and after seeing our wedding photos - I am still blown away at how incredible an eye he has for composition and exposure. We will have a difficult time narrowing down all the wonderful photos for our album.

On a personal level, Rick is an awesome person and my husband and I felt as though we got along with him really well. It made working with him that much easier and more comfortable (it certainly showed in the pictures).

Professionally, he was very responsive and his turnaround time to view the photos were very quick. With that said, the quickness did not impact the overall quality of the photos in any way. When he did our engagement pictures, they were available for on-line viewing that night. When he did our wedding, they were available on-line four days later (before we even left for our honeymoon). To me, it showed that he really took the time to get the exposure right in-camera (as opposed to post-processing (PhotoShop, etc.)) and the photos came out looking much more natural. He and his videographer were not intrusive at all during the ceremony or the reception and it is hard to imagine how he got all these wonderful shots without being in the way at all! Rick was worth every single penny.

Photography was a huge deal for my husband and I and as soon as we saw Rick's work, we knew we didn't have to look any further. We wanted a mix of traditional and photojournalistic shots and his talent in both those areas are outstanding. We had our engagement pictures taken in October of 2008 and he has an amazing eye for composition.

For our wedding (September 2009), all of the shots are incredible and we are going to have a very difficult time picking photos for our album! We got married on a Saturday and he had our proofs up for online viewing by Wednesday (4 days later) - before we even left for our honeymoon. The quickness in his turnaround time in no way impacted its quality as the photos are simply amazing.

On a personal level, Rick is extremely friendly which maked him very easy to work with. He is extremely prompt in both his work-product and his communication

I flew Rick out to my destination wedding because he was the only one I wanted to shoot my wedding. I could not believe how beautiful the photos came out. He shot my friend's wedding so I knew how he works and was very impressed. He is very professonal but super friendly. Check out his website and you'll fall in love.

As a child, I used to go to Nashville, Tennessee with my family. It is one of my fondest memories. So, when it came time to pick a venue for my wedding photos - it was an easy choice. After seeing Rick's photographs online, the choice for a photographer became easy. He flew down to Nashville and chose the location of the Parthenon.

Since I was going to Greece for my honeymoon, that was a perfect choice! He did an excellent job scouting out great areas for photos and made me feel really comfortable. Once I saw the photos, I was amazed. They were beautiful. He is professional and great to work with. I highly recommend him for anyone who wants to have beautiful memories of her wedding day.

While surfing the web for photographers & video, we came to the web site of Rick. My fiance and I were so amazed at his work, but thought there was no way we could afford his services. So we called anyway to meet and look over his work & get prices. Sure enough it was breathtaking and never once was he pushy. The work he had shown us, was 10 times better then all my friends.The prices were very reasonable. When it came time for the wedding, Rick and his staff were there on time, and very professional. Never once did they get in the way of my guest. All of the shot were amazing how they got them with out getting in the way. The photos and video were given to us in the time frame he projected. Excellent work for both services. Still getting compliments.

Picking a photographer was one of the most important things in planning our wedding because I knew the pictures would capture the moments from our wedding day. When we first met Rick, he didn't say much and didn't sell himself. He didn't have to . . . his work spoke for itself. On our wedding day he took us to three locations. The first was at Haverstraw Bay Park in NY, where the day was unbelievably clear and sunny in October. The second location was a set of railroad tracks (unbelievably cool) and the third was at an old textile factory. We felt like actors on a set and he captured some amazing shots. You never knew Rick was around during the ceremony and reception but he was taking pictures. He has been a pleasure to work for and can't wait for our wedding album.

I find it difficult to write this review. I don't believe I could be fair. If a picture speaks a thousand words; then what can I say about 2,000 pictures? These weren't just any pictures, these pictures captured more than just a fleeting moment; they captured the feeling, the emotion, the life of that moment, so that moment may live forever.
When you speak to newly weds they often say that it all happened so fast. That is an understatement. The truth is, it is the pictures that bring to life all those seconds that fly by so fast...they don't even seem real. The better the picture, the better the memory. RH Photography didn't just snap pictures of a day, they created a treasure chest of moments that can now live on for an eternity.
It wasn't just the pictures and the video; and it wasn't even the quality or quantity of the pictures. What truly impressed me most about RH Photography were the people who took the photographs and the movie. It is your wedding day... Stress levels are through the roof! Everyone is pulling you here or there and for the most part, unless your best man and maid of honor are as good as ours, people really do try to inundate you with the most idiotic stuff. But, with the pictures, we didn't even know they were there, but nothing when unphotographed.
Our pictures are amazing! Our guests loved them! Our families loved them.

People won't remember what you served, they may not even eat it.... You may not even eat it. But, you'll never forget a great picture. RH Photography is simply a must have!

Simply put, Rick Helman does the best work of any photographer we looked at. We booked Rick for both the photography and videography of our wedding.

Rick and his 2 assistants Edwin and Sebastian arrived at Amanda's house to take bridal prep pictures. He arrived early to set up, and shot some very good and original photographs. At the church, he was able to organize everyone in the chaos that is every wedding and took some more beautiful pictures. We took our portraits at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens and Rick had a ton of great ideas for different places to go. Rick has a lot of experience in the tri-state area, so if you need a place to take pictures, he probably has a few great ideas for you. They did a great job taking pictures at the reception while staying in the background and not interfering with everyone having fun. Just a great job all around.

We were extremely impressed with their work with the photo album and the DVD. Rick does a great job taking a photo and doing great color effects with it. The DVD was cut fantastically and we have watched it multiple times to rousing reviews. The whole video was fantastic.

Rick is an amazing photographer! We didn't do an engagement shoot, but were very happy with the quality and professionalism we received. We received a ton of photos, between the getting ready, first look, portraits, family, ceremony and reception! We had about 110 people at our wedding and only needed the one photographer. He is extremely easy going and has A LOT of patience. A really wonderful photographer to work with. Definitely send a list of the people you want photographed, the must haves and the stay away from, and that you have 2-3 other people who know the list to help keep everything organized!

I initially left a good review but would like to renege it after seeing other people's photos and hearing about their experiences with their wedding photographers.

I felt absolutely no connection with him, and to be honest, it seemed like he didn't want to be there and was stressed out the entire time we were with him.

We had our "free" engagement shoot, but since we lived more than 45 minutes away from him, we had to pay for him to come to us. Fine, understood. But then he asked us to pay for parking as well. We asked what the money we were paying for him to come to us was covering and he said travel time and travel expenses. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't parking included in travel expenses? Anyways, we had to shell out another $15-$30 or so, on top of the $200 we were paying for him to come to us. Swell.

So the engagement photos were OK, not great. But again, he seemed rushed and not super personable.

Then comes the wedding. I've spoken with a bunch of my girlfriends who were in my bridal party and who are now engaged themselves, and each one of them has said they would not use him. They said they felt he was stressed out and didn't work well under pressure, and I agree. Given there were some time management issues, but being a wedding photographer, this should be the norm. We have no pictures of mine and my husband's families together, only separate. We have almost no pictures of our guests who were not on the dancefloor, so we dont have visual memories of our guests, and knowing how quickly your own wedding goes, it would be nice to have these. We have no pictures of our cocktail hour, which was on the veranda of a castle and gorgeous. And the generic wedding shots i think of when i think of wedding pics were not taken (i.e. the first time my husband saw me in my dress).

Overall I think he means well but I think he needs to put more passion into his work. In summary, would not recommend.
