Rick is amazing to work with! I liked that I could create a list of Must Play songs so I could make sure certain ones got played. It also helped to chat with him before the big day so we were on the same page on the 'vibe' we wanted for the wedding. He is very responsive to emails and very accommodating to any strange music requests. He has a great sense of humor and knows when to talk and when to let the people dance!

Rick was very professional throughout the entire wedding process. Leading up, he was exceptionally helpful and I was able to reach him very easily. He talked with us on the phone about the planning process and had a wide variety of songs to pick from. When we wanted a more uncommon song for our ceremony, he made sure to get it for us.

On the day of our wedding, Rick was very professional, responsible and kept the wedding flowing. He is very charismatic and added the perfect amount of humor. Our friends danced all night. I truly want to thank Rick for all of his help in making our wedding day so fun!

We had a phenomenal experience working with Rick and Sam. They were both incredibly professional and easy to work with, and their online software made planning simple and straight-forward. We hired Rick to DJ our August 15, 2015 wedding and could not have asked for a better experience. I don't remember the dance floor being empty at any point in the night and my husband and I only stopped dancing when people pulled us away for photos/conversation. He was extremely professional and easy to get in touch with from our first contact with him and through the entire process. Rick's prices were extremely affordable at every level and he seems to cater to every style/taste of music. He has an awesome online event planning system which allowed us to request 'Must Play', 'Play if you can' and 'Do not play' songs. The online system also allowed us to make online payments and had lists of the most requested songs for each moment of the night (ie. overall most requested, mother/son dance, father/daughter dance, garter toss, last dance, etc.). This was extremely helpful, especially when it came to about a week before our wedding and we hadn't even considered that we needed a song for garter toss/cake cutting/bouquet toss. My husband is Persian and we were able to give Rick some Persian songs on a flash drive, which he incorporated at just the right time. Rick also had a video session with us a couple weeks out to get us on the right page and was in constant communication with us when he needed to be, but he didn't bombard us with emails or calls when we didn't get back to him immediately. Planning a wedding from afar while working our regular jobs was stressful and we really appreciated this! Overall, we would recommend Rick to anyone getting married in the area. We didn't want the party to end!

Rick was our wedding DJ and we are so happy he was available! We found him through a recommendation from a friend and we are so happy we did. Rock video chatted with us to get to know us better, he listened to all our requests, and we had so many people comment after the wedding that our dj was great. Rick even went above and beyond and put together a mashup for the father-daughter dance - and make tweaks to it when we wanted to make a few changes. He is personable and professional, and kept the reception flowing. We can't recommend him enough!

Rick was a great DJ. He played a great mix of music that got all of our guests on the dance floor. He was also really good at keeping things flowing smoothly between toasts/speeches. Rick was very professional and responsive to anything we asked. I would highly recommend Rick for any event!

Rick helped make our big day stand out. Rick was an excellent DJ and MC. He moved the whole night along seamlessly, adjusted to last minute changes, and was able to make our wedding a beautiful and special night without any of the schmaltzy and cheesy types of comments you usually hear from wedding MC's. The music was spot on. He works with various formats and was able to accommodate our preference for sharing music playlists through Spotify. We gave him a lot of freedom, asking him to play some of the songs on the list but to use his own judgment for what works and what doesn't. He hit most of the songs on the list, and didn't play any songs we didn't like. Most importantly, he had the crowd dancing all night long. 150 people - all different ages and backgrounds. The dance floor was filled until the very last dance.

In addition, as we were planning our wedding from abroad in Hong Kong, Rick was willing to get on plenty of late night phone calls with us in order to accommodate our time zone.

Rick is an extremely experienced and professional vendor. I would highly recommend him to any couple for their ceremony.

Rick was the DJ at our wedding this past weekend and we continue to hear from our guests how great he was! He really kept the party moving and got all of our guests going crazy on the dancefloor! We can't speak highly enough of his pre-wedding planning... we really enjoyed the multiple phone calls we had with him and felt that his online portal to plan the wedding schedule and music made the whole event so easy to organize and plan. Rick is fantastic! From day one contacting him, he was professional, responsive and customer oriented. My husband and I had an idea of what we wanted our music to be, but didn't have a lot of time to be specific, and Rick picked the ball up and ran with it. He provided our wedding tunes, cocktail reception, dinner, and reception music and I couldn't have been happier. This bride never left the dance floor! :) Cannot say enough great things about Rick!

Rick was all over our needs! He had a unique web venue to coordinate live, establish our timeline, select must play music, and give background so he could personalize the event. Incredible responsiveness. At the event, his performance was flawless. He kept things flowing according to schedule, improvised when required, and kept the guests hopping and happy! Most important, he put on a production and narrative of our "love story" that brought both laughs and tears. Truly dedicated to the event and the couple, we would recommend Rick enthusiastically for your event!

Rick is a wonderful, personable, professional, witty, and knowledgeable deejay. My now husband and I actually only met Rick in person the day of the wedding, and for a few minutes at most. However, between email, phone, and such, it didn't matter as Rick was available as needed, anticipated and answered questions and concerns, and was ever ready to ensure that our event was as we hoped it would be. Definitely a two-thumbs up from both of us.

Rick did at an awesome job for our small (25 people). We are mostly 50-60 year olds and we thought there wouldn't be much dancing. Boy were we wrong. The dance floor was Full the whole evening. We were having so much that we extended the reception. His pricing was great compared to others we interviewed and his online music and event planning capabilities sealed the deal. We would definitely use Rick again.

My husband and I highly recommend DJ Rick Haggard to anyone planning a wedding in the Charlottesville area! Rick was fantastic! He met with us a few times before the actual day and we could tell he took his job as a DJ very seriously. Rick helped make sure the transitions flowed smoothly and always gave us suggestions when we needed it. While still incorporating our own ideas and requests, he helped make the night a success. Rick is great -- very responsive and willing to help you execute your vision. We wanted great music with fairly limited DJ interaction, and Rick did just that. For couples who want some direction or creative ideas, Rick is right there with them. Many of our guests complimented "whoever made the playlist" - which was almost entirely Rick. His technology is great for conducting web meetings (we were not local) and event planning and he is very familiar with other area vendors.

Rick was a wonderful DJ to work with! He was courteous, professional, uses great technology, provided great service for the value, and was more than willing to meet me and my husband as needed prior to the wedding. I had very little idea of the kind of music that I wanted to play during my reception, but with little prompting Rick put together a fantastic playlist that had EVERYONE on the dance floor in 105 degree heat! He was also a great speaker during the event - introducing, announcing at all the right times, never too much or too little. I would highly recommend Rick for any DJ event in the future!

I cannot recommend Rick highly enough! He was flexible, professional and fun! I barely gave him any direction (literally only our first dance song and that I wanted a wedding party that felt like a fun bar with everyone dancing), and he did an amazing job! I still have people coming up to me telling me how much fun our wedding was and what a great DJ we had. Rick was great, and if you're concerned that a DJ wedding can't be as fun as a wedding with a band (never a concern of mine, but a friend had asked me if I was worried about that so maybe it's a thing?), he's definitely your man!

Rick Haggard is an awesome DJ and MC. We had an outdoor wedding at the same location as our reception and he provided music for both. He did an excellent job transitioning from outdoors (wedding) to indoors (reception) and provided high quality sound and music for both wedding and reception. Considering the poor acoustics of our venue, achieving the quality of sound that he did, was very impressive. Rick also MC'd our wedding and reception which made me and my husband's life much easier and less stressful during the wedding. Because of his MCing abilities and his coordination with our caterer, we did not require any wedding planners! Like myself, Rick is a perfectionist and therefore covered every possible detail you could think of, when it comes to DJ/MCing a wedding. This made me feel confident that all of our DJ needs would be covered and I did not have to worry, at all, that his services would be lacking.
Another aspect of Rick Haggard Entertainment that I liked, were the online services Rick provided. You could select songs from his seemingly limitless database of music, develop a list of songs you wanted played at the wedding, cocktail hour and reception and send it all to Rick. You could also put together your entire wedding and reception schedule to send to him, via his website, so he could be prepared ahead of time. My husband and I were incredibly impressed by his advanced technology and organization - this made everything go smoothly.
Aside from Rick's talent as a DJ, he is just a really friendly, fun, down-to-earth person to work with. When I first spoke to him on the phone, he spent at least an hour getting information about my husband and I so he could better know who we were and what we needed as far as DJ services. He really made us feel like we were important, and valued customers! Rick was also extremely responsive via email and phone and even did some Skype conferences with us. Since we live a few hours from where our wedding took place and could not meet with vendors face-to-face very frequently, our Skype conferences were VERY convenient! Rick's attitude is fun, cheerful and can-do. Our guests really enjoyed him, as he was very approachable for music requests, played great music, and was not one of those loud, obnoxious, annoying DJs who just likes to hear himself talk (you know the type). Rick dressed very nicely in a suit and tie, and was incredibly professional throughout the wedding and reception.
The value of Djing for the price we paid is pretty hard to beat, and you can tell that Rick Haggard LOVES his job and takes great pride in his work as a DJ. For a wedding to run smoothly, I think it is paramount that a high quality DJ be hired, and I would recommend Rick Haggard Entertainment to anyone who wishes to have the high quality service we received. Rick provided fantastic music for our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We planned our Charlottesville wedding from overseas, and did almost all planning over email and using Rick's client planning website for music requests and timeline. We met once the week before the wedding so Rick could gather information for our "Love Story" presentation during the reception.

All of the music turned out perfectly, and the "Love Story" was a hit. At one point in our reception, Rick lost power to his music system (I think my dad might have accidentally bumped into the plug!), and Rick led the crowd in an impromptu version of "Sweet Caroline" while he solved the problem. Your iPod cannot ad-lib like that, only a professional like Rick can!

We are exceptionally pleased with the service we received. Rick was awesome!

They made the planning so easy and stress free, which was very important at such a busy time. Rick was an absolute pleasure to work with as our wedding reception DJ. For our reception, we had a fairly specific idea of what type of music we wanted at certain stages of the evening, and Rick came through with all of our suggestions. A significant portion of our song requests were from somewhat obscure artists, but Rick went the extra mile and found all the tracks without complaint. He was a total pro.

Further, Rick accommodated all of our preferences regarding how "hands-on" he would be during the reception. Rick was more than willing to take an active role (and judging by our conversations he would have been a hoot), but we preferred a DJ who would just play music and MC the intros, toasts, and a few other reception events. I've been to several weddings where the DJ thinks he is the center of attention--Rick is not that type of guy. He took requests, honored our preferences, and made sure that none of the tracks on our "do not play list" hit the speakers.

Between our planning with Rick prior to the wedding, and his performance at the reception, Rick made everything easy. A poor DJ can ruin a wedding. Fortunately for us, Rick was an excellent choice. Whether you want a DJ to entertain your group, or just a DJ to work with you to come up with a solid playlist and then let the music do the entertaining, you would be hard pressed to find a better DJ than Rick Haggard.

The perfect DJ ! He was prompt and kept us on our toes. Appropriate when we needed a bit laid back for dinner, led the way through all the usual wedding events ie cake, bouquet toss etc. I was really impressed and the price was very reasonable. Many guests commented on the music selection . I loved being able to personalize the whole thing. Awesome!

DJ Rick added such memorable touches to our wedding reception - we received numerous compliments on the wonderful musical selections, from the cocktail hour, to the dinner, to the dancing! He made the bridal party entrance super entertaining, and the couples' anniversary dance was a special touch as well!! DJ Rick was one of our best vendor choices for our recent wedding reception at Prince Michel Vineyard in Culpeper, VA. He is a very personable man and treated us as individuals, not just customers. Rick orchestrated an amazing party at our wedding reception this past August. Not only did he go above and beyond to accomodate our requests, he had our crowd dancing for hours. We had a 4 hour dance party... just what we wanted! People young and old all felt moved to the dance floor and it was magical. Rick was great!!! He came highly recommended by other DJ's when we were looking for a DJ to play at our wedding in October! He was really great and we didn't have to worry about anything he is a total pro!! We couldn't have been happier with his services and his price is totally reasonable!! We wanted something different than most wedding receptions. We didn't want any of the regular reception type of thing -- just party. And Rick was great when we wanted our guest to pick out the reception music. Each guest picked 3 songs to have played at our reception. Rick had no problem with this. We gave him a list and decided the mix and when to play the song, and filled in dance songs where we needed them! It was great!! Our guest loved hearing the songs they picked during the evening! Rick completely exceeded all our (and our guests) expectations! He was amazing. We stated off with our love story and first dance, which was great. He did such an amazing job on the love story, I got sooooo many compliments, and our guests appreciated us sharing with them how we got together. Just make sure you have somone to move the chairs after the story before you start dancing - my new husband had to do it and it sorta threw the timing off on our first dance, but that was not really Ricks fault. He kept the evening running very smooth and really went with the flow. He was also very personable, not dry like a lot of current DJs, Rick has a great personality and it shows when he is hosting. Kudos!

His own quotes are "Cool, class, elegance and, above all, FUN! " This is an accurate description! He is fun to work and loves music just as much as we did. He took everything we wanted and melded it together into something with class and elegance for the elderly guests and something fun for the younger crowd.
My maid of honor and her brother said that it felt like he knew us for a long time when he was introducing us and when he did the Love Story-which I would recommend doing. Many of my guests said he did such a good job and was very funny.
He also definitely stuck to our list of music and changed it up based on the crowd. He also consulted with us which I appreciated when it became evident that we might run out of time with some of our events.
I would definitely recommend him for any event.

Sam Ranson and Rick Haggard of Rick Haggard Entertainment provided exemplary service from our first planning conversations to truly professional execution on the day of our wedding. Sam provided the equipment and ran the soundboard for our ceremony and maintained levels perfectly for both our live musicians and speakers. Sam really went the extra mile during the reception and frequently ran around to check with us to make sure everything from the intros to song selection ran smoothly. We wound up with a little bit less dancing time than we expected and Sam made just the right choices to keep the party uptempo and lively. Rick was amazing he worked with us on everything we wanted. we told him our vision and he made it come to life better then it ever looked in out heads. he kept us dancing all night with songs that he knew our guests would like as well as what we had requested! we are so pleased to have had him there on our day and would recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ that is fun open and listens to your ideas for what you want and your visions~

We're so glad we chose Rick as our wedding DJ! He did a great job at our wedding...his upbeat attitude and excellent music selections helped to keep us and the guests in a high-energy mood all night long, just like we wanted. We also appreciated Rick working with us for special requests such as unique dinner songs and editing two songs into one for our father/daughter dance. Rick had the perfect personality for my guests. He made the night by watching the actions of my guests and then beginning our next activity. My guests enjoyed his services as well as my family, including my in-laws. He was here to help me and Nick to make sure that our day was the best that it could be and it was! Rick was a wonderful DJ. When we wanted something specific, he would let us get as detailed as we wanted, and when we wanted him to take over something, he'd do it and do it masterfully. He was a great MC, as well as a great DJ, alerting the crowd to important events, and getting the crowd into the more complicated elements of our wedding. He also read the crowd perfectly, always seeming to play the right music at the right time. We used him for both the ceremony and the reception, and he was masterful at both. Also, as we were preparing for the wedding, I drove the car into a ditch, and he helped us get the car out. Rick, who's prices are extremely reasonable, is worth every penny and more.

Rick was awesome! Since I don't live in the area I wasn't sure how difficult planning would be but his knowledge and experience made it very easy! His website was also great for choosing songs and knowing what I would need to make decisions about. He kept us moving through the reception events like cake cutting, speeches, etc, in a way that we didn't have to worry about anything. We had a great time and so did our guests!

Rick was amazing! The music from the ceremony to the reception was wonderful and he seamlessly kept the flow of the entire evening together. Creating our 'love story' was a special addition to our evening and one that made our wedding even more personalized. DJ Rick Haggard did an excellent job at our wedding! We loved working with him and got many compliments from our guests. We were very concerned about not having a "cheesy DJ," and Rick listened and was attuned with exactly what we wanted. He pronounced all names perfectly, and kept "chatter" to the bare minimum, just as we asked him to. He has a very slick website where you can choose playlists ahead of time, which we enjoyed using. And when our playlists ran out, he chose music very much in line with what we liked--and songs we would've chosen had we thought of them! He has years of experience, which we relied on when we needed advice about the flow of the reception. All around fantastic job--I can't recommend Rick highly enough!

Rick was wonderful. He came to visit the venue (which was 1.5 hours from where he lives) by himself, and then met with us separately in addition to that. He made sure to thoroughly educate himself about all aspects of our wedding party, our families, and aspects of our history in order to make for a really personal experience. He gave us the ability to choose how involved we wanted him to be during the reception (i.e. just playing music versus doing his special "Love Story" presentation - we chose just playing music and emceeing), as well as how much say we wanted in the music that was played. We felt like we had control over whatever we wanted, and anything we didn't want control over, we knew we could count on him to go beyond our expectations. We were not disappointed. He was fantastic - we even had multiple guests comment to us on how great he was.

Rick did an excellent job as the DJ at our wedding. We never anticipated that the party would be as much fun and include as much dancing as it did. He met with us several times in advance to ensure that he knew exactly what we wanted from our DJ. He was incredibly professional and took his job seriously. And he let us pick all the songs that we wanted to (and didn't want to) hear, organize the night with toasts, first dances, etc, and he worked with our caterer to ensure everything went smoothly. We had a blast at our wedding, and so many of our friends came up to us afterwords and told us what a great time they had dancing for so many hours. Thank you Rick!!

I only have the highest praise for Rick Haggard. Look no further, if you want to have a fantastic wedding reception. Rick is truly a professional. He takes the time to get to know you and with that knowledge is able to tailor his services to exactly what you want. Plus, he was easy and a lot of fun to work with.

Rick also offers a unique service called "The Love Story". With information from both of us about how we made it to our wedding day, he seamlessly re-told "our story" for our guests with honesty, humor, and audience participation. It was a highlight of our already spectacular day! Plus, the music and dancing was a blast. Everyone we talked to told us that our DJ was great--we agree.

Rick was an amazing DJ. He met with us at our home to get a feel for the type of reception music we were looking for and then met with us again at our reception site to go over the schedule of the evening. He took all of our music requests and included them into some part of the evening. Rick was very personal and kept all of our guests dancing into the New Year.
The fabulous music was the icing on the cake for our already amazing evening.

Rick was great! He always returned a call or e-mail with in a few hours. We had a last minute "disaster" with our soloist and Rick stepped up and went out of his way to make everything turn out great! Our guest LOVED our "Love-Story!"

We are in our 50's - second marriage - looking for a "special" type of DJ. We wanted to infuse hip music that fit our crowd including "not the typical artists". I absolutely recommend Rick to anyone in the Central Virginia area. I was planning my wedding from four hours away so finding the right vendors was a bit of a challenge for me. We were planning a very small, intimate wedding with only 45 people and it was important to both of us that we not have a "typical" cheesy DJ experience. My husband and I are both very particular about our music and both have a very diverse music taste (I like oldies and indie, he likes metal), so picking a DJ was the biggest decision we had to make for the day. My initial, very long, phone coversation with Rick, and other reviews on Wedding Wire convinced me that he would be able to make our vision happen for us. His price was a bit outside of our budget which was a a concern for me but my confidence in his ability based on our conversation convinced me to go for it and spend the extra money. I'm so glad I did.

Rick was really accommodating to our long-distance planning, including web chats to review final information, and lots of patience with us when other wedding duties put off some of the information he required to the last minute. Nothing about the day's events seemed last-minute though.

He also took my ideas on the very specific type of music I wanted to hear during cocktails and dinner and turned it into an amazing play list full of what I wanted plus lots of unplanned songs that really flowed with my ideas to create the perfect soundtrack. In fact, more than half of the guests told me that the music choices were fantastic. I think they were really surprised to hear what we came up with at a wedding.

I could actually write many many paragraphs about how Rick's work really made our great day awesome... but I will just keep it at that. He made our day awesome. I wish we could do it all again ... what do you think, Rick? Free next weekend?

My husband and I thought Rick did an amazing job at our wedding on June 1! We were planning the wedding from a distance, and Rick spent 2 hours on Skype with us learning about the type of people we were, what music we liked, the feel of the event, etc, which went a long way to assuring us that he would be great to work with. I looked up his reviews, and couldn't believe that he could have so many 5 star reviews- but now, after the fact, I'm not surprised at all. We both had the time of our lives, thanks in large part to the music that was just perfect for us the whole time. He listened so well to what we wanted and created a great playlist around our "must-plays" that fit perfectly for the night. I can’t tell you how many compliments we got on the music. The cocktail hour/dinner playlist was just what we wanted- upbeat but different, working in some of our favorites and must-plays. It was the perfect background to everything- it did not detract from socializing, but didn’t just sit in the background, either. And the dance party was a hit- I only wish it had lasted longer but our venue had a curfew! We definitely ended on a high note, and people of all our different circles appreciated the song choices. Rick was also just the right amount of “host”- his experience was obvious, and we really appreciated the fact that he listened to us when we said we wanted a lower-key evening, without introductions, etc. Highly recommended!

Other sidenote- he has a photobooth operation too- that was also SO FUN for our guests. His setup comes with props and an attendant, who makes you a guestbook/scrapbook onsite from one copy of the prints- the guests get the other copy. You get digital copies of the photos, too. If you're thinking of doing a photobooth- save yourself the trouble of another vendor and do it through Rick Haggard Entertainment.

Rick was very easy to work with throughout our wedding planning process. His technology allowed us to meet with him online twice before the wedding and also plan out our reception details at our leisure. He was extremely professional, yet flexible at our reception- allowing for the flow to be dictated by us. Rick helped to stream-line planning and made the event stress-free.

We had a long list of songs we hoped to have included during the reception and Rick incorporated as many as could fit as well as making sure he played others to get everyone up and dancing. He also helped us augment live music for the ceremony.

Fees are reasonable and competitive. He brings a length of experience and broad knowledge of music across tastes and over time that is exceptional which make shaping it to your particular needs easy. Highly recommend him.

We searched for quite a while to find a DJ, because the music for the reception was very important to us. We decided to work with Rick and his associate, Sam, and we don't regret it! They were great through the whole planning process, helping us to develop our music selection and create a good flow for the day. Rick and Sam were both there to take care of the setup and ceremony music, and then Sam took over for the reception. Sam was FANTASTIC! His music selections were right on target and there wasn't any cheesy talking nonsense that you get with some wedding DJs - Sam just let the music speak for itself and talked only when it was necessary to make announcements about what was going on (like, the cake cutting is about to start). He even did a special Halloween mix (our wedding was the weekend before) with songs like Ghostbusters and Thriller, that was a really big hit. I can't say enough good things about his DJing. We had many many guests comment that he was the best DJ they'd ever had at a wedding. We were beyond happy with him!!

Rick did an incredible job personalizing our wedding and listening what we wanted. His online library and planning tools were great and easy to use. He spent a long time with us to learn about us as a couple which he incorporated into our day. He also helped out a lot behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly, which was very important to us.

I highly recommend this DJ if you want a relaxed and fun atmosphere as I did. He was fabulous getting the guests to laugh and enjoy my reception. The guests had nothing but great things to say about him. His love story was wonderful and well worth the extra cost. It added something extra to my day allowing my husband and I to reflect back on how we met and share that story with our guests. It was fabulous.
