Fun and friendly!

I cannot say enough good things about Retrospect. Larry was responsive and easy to work with, and the band was accommodating in their willingness to learn a few important songs for us. On the day of our wedding, all band members were energetic and friendly. We got so many compliments on Retrospect during and after our wedding. They truly made the night!

NYE Dream Wedding: Dance floor PACKED all night long

Both my sisters and my cousins have used this band for their weddings, and regardless of the venue, the theme, the crowd, they have not ONCE disappointed. Larry and his band are simply the best!! Larry took my husband and me to lunch a few months before the date to talk about the night. He is clearly an expert - he asked great questions and knew exactly what we wanted so we didn’t have to worry about anything. The band’s song list is seemingly endless, and picking out/ranking the songs that we wanted played throughout the entirety of the night was so fun. They kept the night going and the dance floor was packed all night long. HIGHLY recommend Retrospect for any event you plan!!

Great part of the best night of my life- Energetic, quality, flexible, accommodating

Retrospect performed at my wedding in September and they were FANTASTIC! The energy in the room was tangible, people danced all night. I loved what they did with the lights. Larry was so incredibly accommodating, helping us with the timeline and ideas. They learned I think 4 new songs for us, and they let us come up on stage and perform with them! I would 100% hire them again for any other event we do. I got so many comments about how great the band was. The playlist was so good, even my non-English-speaking friends loved the music. Thank you Retrospect!

This band is like family!

The whole Retrospect team is amazing, the best band ever! They are like a family themselves, and when the bridal party went on stage to play 2 songs with them, it was like one big happy family! The whole band was smiling the whole night; it appeared that they genuinely enjoyed themselves as much as all of our guests did! As my daughter the bride said, the whole day was just as she wanted it to be, and the band was a major part of the night. Larry goes above and beyond to prepare with the bride/groom and make sure the party is fun and joyful for everyone! Can't wait to call them again for our next family wedding!

Awesome performance!

Just attended a family wedding where Retrospect performed. We were wowed by their performance. Never left the dance floor empty. An amazing group of talented musicians with an equally amazing song list that appealed to all.

Amazing Band!!!!!

You will not be disappointed! Retrospect recently played at our daughter’s wedding reception. The guests were blown away by the selection of great dancing music. The songs connected all generations and our friends and family had the best time ever. Larry was wonderful in helping us to prepare for the event. He met with us prior to the wedding to get to know the couple and go over details. Upon leaving that meeting, I knew Retrospect had the entertainment piece totally under control and they absolutely came through. We have seen them perform over the years and their talent and professionalism have been overwhelming. We will call on them in the future for any musical performance needs we have. They helped to make our special day even more special!!!!!!

High Expectations Exceeded 😀

We’re both on second marriages and chose Reteospect for our wedding band. We wanted a high energy band with a dedicated horn section that had the versatility to play music from several different decades and genres. Restrospect did not disappoint... they were AMAZING!!! They even took the time to learn a new song that we requested. They did a great with emceeing the event and getting the crowd on the dance floor. Highly recommend!!!!!!

Trust the reviews - Retrospect Band is AWESOME!

Retrospect Band was absolutely incredible. Larry & Co. were such an integral part of our September wedding in Dallastown, Pennsylvania and we will forever be thankful we trusted so many other amazing reviews when making our band decision! Within just a few days of talking with Larry, and before we even signed a contract with him, he took time on a Saturday to drive up to our venue to check out the electrical set-up and other logistical aspects to ensure everything would go smoothly on the big day. The band learned 2 new songs for us for our wedding party entrances and even sent us media clips to hear how things would sound in advance of the wedding. During our reception they killed it - the dance floor was packed and everyone had a wonderful time. The Band even took some great pictures of our guests enjoying the reception and a few of those shots are some of our favorites from the entire day. So many guests have told us after the wedding that they were the best band they've ever seen at a wedding. We recommend times a million!

Retrospect did an amazing job at our wedding and had everyone on the dance floor from beginning to end of the night! Larry was very professional and helpful throughout the whole process, he even took us to lunch to walk through logistics and all of our requests so everything went smoothly on the day of. We wish we could give them ten stars each. After all of our guests left we went to each band member and thanked them personally for the amazing night. Hiring them was hands down the best decision of our wedding.

If you're tempted to prioritize flowers, cake, fancy appetizers or any of the other gazillion things that can come with a wedding, take a second to think about the most memorable weddings you've ever been to. I bet the thing that stands out is the music, the dancing and the celebration you had with friends and family. Don't skimp on live music! And you don't have to, because Retrospect is very affordable!

The father-daughter dance to Glenn Miller band's Moonlight Serenade, the mother-son dance to Frank Sinatra, and Retrospect learned the song we wanted played for our first dance... these are exceptional memories that we can't stop talking about. And there was no better way to create amazing new relationships and bonds with our new families and friends than dancing and laughing with them all on the dance floor. Seeing our cousins and siblings dance and laugh even though they just met each other was the most uplifting and incredible thing we didn't think about during wedding planning, but now find ourselves so fortunate about.

The band leader, Larry, was incredibly responsive and organized. We reviewed stage placement, songs we wanted them to play and the overall schedule. Compared to some of the others we interviewed prior to selecting Retrospect, they really stood out. There are a few bands online that are actually not real "bands," but corporate companies that put together contract musicians who may never have played together before! We found ourselves being very uneasy talking to them until we discovered this trade secret. And there are other bands that are simply way unaffordable.

But Retrospect has been playing and practicing together for a long time. And it really shows. Please get them for your wedding.

Larry and the Retrospect band are amazing! They had everyone on the dance floor all night. I am still having family/friends reach out to tell me how wonderful they were and how much fun they had at my wedding. Larry goes out of his way to make sure everything is in order before the wedding and he is extremely knowledgeable in everything wedding related. The best decision we made for our wedding was booking Retrospect! They played at our wedding in 2013, and I'm (finally) coming back to write our review four years later. Why? Because four years after the fact we still have friends asking for their contact info because they heard our band was so amazing. Over the years whenever our wedding has come up, the band is the one thing everyone remembers and raves about. There's already a ton of great reviews on here, so I won't go into too many details -- Larry and the team are super professional, they proactively plan and communicate all logistics ahead of time, go out of their way to learn "your" song if it's not on their list (and they surprised us with an extra song!), know how to play to the crowd and keep the party going, and have played at all the major venues around so they know how to make everything work. They pretty much play every music genre, and their song list is so huge you can get a great mix of songs that will keep the dance floor packed all night. If you're reading reviews, you're likely either on the fence about hiring a band vs DJ, or have decided on a band and are looking for the right one. If you can make it work with your budget, a band is absolutely worth the splurge. After having attended close to 20+ weddings since we got married, having a band makes a HUGE difference. If you're looking for the right band, look no further -- you've found it!

Hiring Retrospect for our Wedding Band was one of our best decisions for our wedding!!! The dancing and the music was everyones favorite part of the wedding and we owe all of that to Retrospect!! They played the music that I wanted but also knew exactly what songs to play at the right times to make sure all wedding guests had a blast!! There are few things that Larry (the band leader) & the band did that I felt they went above and beyond the amazing music they played! First, Larry offered to meet me at my venue when I first reached out to hire them to make sure he had all the right equipment for the wedding day! That made me feel super confident that they would be able to deliver everything we wanted, which they did deliver! And then he also took us out to lunch a month before the wedding to review in person the entire day and make sure we were on the same page about every single detail! Second, the band learned extra songs for special dances at our wedding that were not on their list of songs (which is HUNDREDS of songs)! I was so appreciative that they were more than happy to learn those songs and fulfill the exact vision we had for each in particular special dance. Then third, did I mention the AMAZING music!!! And so much fun! During a few of the songs, the band comes out to the crowd and interacts with us and our guests... it was a true highlight of the entire night! If you want to dance to the best music and truly make the reception an experience to remember I would highly suggest hiring Retrospect for your Wedding Band!

If 6 stars out of 5 were possible...Retrospect would deserve every one of them AND MORE. I cannot say enough about them and their performance during this past weekend's wedding for my daughter, held in the Blue Room at the Omni Shoreham. The quality, responsiveness, professionalism, flexibility, and the value that we were provided by Larry and Retrospect far exceeded EVERY expectation. They were incredible and fit in so naturally with our wedding guests and the venue. Every wedding in the DC/MD/VA area MUST have Retrospect as their entertainment. Every single one of our guests were either on the dance floor or were dancing in their seats. The feedback from everyone was "this band is phenomenal, where did you find them?". Word of mouth is a great thing because they have done other family and friend's weddings (one coming up next month as well) and I will continue to sing their praises.

I said it before and I will say it again...Every wedding in the DC/MD/VA area MUST have Retrospect as their entertainment.

The guests went wild over this band. Can't count the number of guests who said "that's the best wedding band I've ever heard...I could dance to all the songs!" We were quite particular about the music that could be played at the wedding reception. We had some judges, some very religious people, some very conservative people, and some easily offended people, and guests ranging from 8 to 80 years old. So we were very particular about what songs could and should not be played. They did exactly what we asked for. One of my favorite things about them was how interactive they were with the guests on the dance floor (singers & musicians came on the dance floor). I decided to serenade my groom and the band worked with me to pull that off beautifully (my groom's favorite part of the whole wedding). One word of advice: pay attention to the band's space requirements. They require a certain amount of room for a 9 piece band. When I signed the contract, I was under the impression that they were sort of flexible about that and I was mistaken. It was a bit of a tight squeeze, but definitely worth it. They were outstanding,and the musicians are a tight-knit group. They were very, very patient when the toasts went on and on and on and on.... We were also impressed with their charity work, and the fact that they actually seem to ENJOY being part of someone's wedding. Cannot thank them enough for keeping guests dancing all night long!

Retrospect is an amazing band. They have played at numerous events for our family and are always fabulous. Most recently they played at my wedding. They truly make any event a party; the band is extremely interactive and get the crowd up on their feet. All of the guests I spoke with at the wedding were very complimentary of Retrospect and thought they were amazing.
On top of their onstage performance, Larry is extremely organized, making sure that everything is executed according to plan. Also, Larry and the band are very responsive to requests that make your event unique.
My wife and I highly recommend Retrospect.

Restrospect is phenomenal! We booked them for our wedding and had high expectations for them....which they left far behind with their amazing performance! Larry and the entire Retrospect team are true processionals. They are organized, great communicators and make your job as the happy couple a breeze. From our initial pre-wedding meeting to the last song of the evening there was absolutely nothing to worry about with Larry running the show. They help with everything from day-of timeline, cocktail music, lining everyone up and introducing them for the reception, dinner music selects, MC'ing the evening and of course----they know how to throw a party! Our guests were on the dance floor all evening long---some even before entrees were severed! You just can't help but enjoy the great energy that Retrospect brings to any event. Retrospect Band kept the energy and spirits high at our wedding. The dance floor was packed for the entire reception, everyone was having so much fun that we extended the time! The band was amazing at personalizing the experience, learned a new song for the mother son dance in addition to some more recent pop dance songs that my friends and I wanted to dance to. We knew we wanted a live band for our wedding a couple years back, but we had some newer songs we loved off the radio that we weren't sure they'd be able to play... well, Larry ellison just asked us the song titles and sure enough at our reception, Retrospect played them perfectly- including our first dance song by Dave Matthews. The band was so much fun. They let our exuberant relatives sing a song here and there, and at the request of some of our guests, they played the Washington Redskins fight song! They got off the stage and danced while playing their instruments... truly I can't say enough about them. For our 8 year anniversary this year they even emailed us a live song they played for us saying Happy anniversary. Best wedding vendor we booked, overall!! Thanks Retrospect!

BOOK THEM! This band is amazing! We wanted a really fun wedding, and Retrospect gave us that! Larry meets with you about a month beforehand to go over your music choices -they have a HUGE song list, and will learn new songs for you. It was awesome to have a band that really got and kept the party going, and played to our crowd. At one point, the saxophonist was dancing on the dance floor with some of our crazy dancers, and I know none of us will ever forget that! We requested a (kind-of) obscure song for our first dance, and they learned it for us. Additionally, I had said there were a few requests we had that weren't on their playlist, and they did both of them! My groom and I were so surprised, since one was near and dear to our hearts. Most of our guests commented during the wedding how awesome the band was! They definitely made our party, and we will be forever grateful to them! Their 90's mashup medley is a must, and people went nuts! THANK YOU, RETROSPECT!!!!!

This is the third year that our nonprofit organization has used Retrospect for our black-tie gala! They are incredibly fun and keeps the attendees on the dance floor with great music! They play current music as well as wonderful oldies. When we let them know the theme of the event they are always sure to know the music that works well with the theme. The group is professional and easy to work with--and they are able to be flexible with timing during our program. I enthusiastically recommend Retrospect to anyone who is looking for great music for an event.

Retrospect was amazing. I had seen them at the weddings of two of my close friends and knew that I wanted them for our wedding. They have a good mix of older and newer songs and do a great job of getting the guests going and keeping them going on the dance floor. Larry, the band leader, set up a brunch meeting with my fiancé and I before the wedding to see how we wanted to night to go which I thought was nice. Never a dull moment with this badn!

We had an amazing and fun wedding. The reception was really fun, in large part, because Retrospect was great! All of our guests were out on the dance floor, having a great time and my husband and I were out there with them.

I first saw Retrospect at a friend's wedding two years ago where everyone had so much fun dancing the whole night. I knew I wanted to see if they could perform at our wedding. My husband got to see them at a free concert by the Bethesda metro and thought they were great. It was easy to work with Larry Elliott. He was helpful and available. We spoke on the phone and then met for brunch before the wedding to go over details and logistics. Larry made sure he had everyone's names down to introduce, all of the special songs we wanted, and was even able to coordinate with a good family friend, who sang a song with the band.

I wanted lots of great music and dancing. My husband wanted to have a great time. My dad wanted to make sure the music wasn't too loud so that people could still hear each other talking at the tables. My mom wanted to make sure there was music from different decades so everyone would have fun and enjoy. Larry Elliott and Retrospect came through and did all of that. He was a great MC during the reception. Lots of friends and family told us afterwards how much fun they had and how great the band was.

On November 28, 2015, Retrospect played for Mary Faith & Cressman's (our daughter & now son in law) wedding reception at Dupont Country Club. Larry went out of his way to make the entire process easy, fun and fantastic! Larry met us in Delaware to work out the time line, music, set up & so much more! The dance floor was NEVER empty! Retrospect is the BEST! My husband and I were just thrilled with our reception, Retrospect made it such a wonderful party! Larry (the band leader) took the time to meet with us over breakfast a few weeks before our wedding to go over logistics, details and special song choices. He had a lot of great recommendations. The morning after our wedding, the only thing our guests could talk about was "the band!" Even my 89 year old grandma (who was pretty well-known for her dancing skills back in the day!) said that Retrospect is "the best band I've ever heard." This is a talented group of musicians and they are very professional and experienced. All of our guests were up dancing the whole night, it was a great party!!

Retrospect receives not only raves reviews from myself and my husband, but also from all of our wedding guests. Our guest had a fantastic time dancing and singing with the outstanding band. They still are the talk of the wedding!
Larry was extremely accommodating, helpful, and patient. He took time to listen to our requests, and stuck by them the day of the wedding (no shuffles, limited country music etc.).
Anyone who wants the all of your guests up and dancing the night away, Retrospect is the band for you.

Not only did they personally tailor and wonderfully execute our first dance song, which was no easy feat, they brought the house down and got everyone involved and dancing with our personally selected list of songs. We danced the night away to their fantastic set and put our wedding as the top event of the summer per our friends and family. Furthermore, they made the entire process of reserving and coordinating extremely simple, putting myself and my wife at ease during the difficult wedding planning process (even making the trip all the way from Washington DC to Connecticut showing their incredible commitment to our special day). If you don't get RETROSPECT for your wedding, you will regret it, as no other band comes close to these guys!

Larry and all the band members were fabulous! We had enjoyed them at a friends wedding so much we said we had to have them for ours. It was very special that my two boys were allowed to accompany the band in a few songs ( they both play trumpet). It was on of the best highlights of the wedding!

Retrospect was the best wedding band that my husband and I could have asked for. Leading up to the big day, Larry (the band leader) was incredibly responsive, helpful, and accommodating as we decided which songs to put on the playlist, put together the entrance script, and figured out the timing of the various events during the reception (entrances, toasts, cake cutting, etc.). Larry gave some great suggestions about things that we might not have known -- for example, good background music to use while dinner was being served and whether to have the band start playing dancing music before dinner. It's obvious that Larry has a wealth of experience playing wedding receptions (but it's also refreshing that he's willing to accommodate personal preferences). During the reception, it's fair to say that Retrospect was the hit of the evening. At one point almost every single one of our guests (125+) was on the dance floor. Even six months later, people who were at our wedding still mention how much they enjoyed the band and the music.

My husband and I would recommend Retrospect to any couple looking for an energizing, standout wedding band!

Retrospect has played 3 weddings in my group of friends and we could not have asked for a more professional/organized group to help our friends have a great time. The planning process was great as they provide you with a list of songs from different genres and you can pick what songs you'd like to have and those you're not interested in having played. It was fun to have a lot of interaction that just a DJ can't really provide.

Retrospect is by far the best band I have ever heard at any party (and many of my guests said the same!) They played for my son's Bar Mitzvah, and the adults and kids alike had an absolute blast! Everyone was up dancing, the variety of music was fantastic, they sound GREAT. We didn't want them to be too loud - the volume was perfect. The band leader met with me in advance to go through the kinds of music we wanted, and then he adapted the day before when my 21-year old daughter threw some new songs into the mix! They were TERRIFIC! I will definitely be using them again for future parties.

I've known this group for years and they ALWAYS impress! My guests had a blast and my father-in-law couldn't stop raving about the great song selection. They learned new songs just for us and even let us sing a few with them! We are so glad we asked Retrospect to be the band for our wedding! We had first met them when they played at my sister's wedding a few years ago, they were a hit then so it was a no-brainer to ask them to play at our wedding. Larry, their bandleader, took us out to lunch before the wedding to meet us, and we were able to give him a list of our song preferences. He was so responsive and kind. Their band played just the right songs during both the dinner hour and dancing part of the night, and just had a great feel for what would be the next great hit with the crowd! The dance floor was packed the entire night -- with our grandparents, friends, and younger cousins! All ages had a great time, and we had several guests come up and tell us it was the best wedding band they had ever heard! We couldn't have been happier.

Retrospect did a great job at our wedding - our guests are still talking about how awesome their music was over a month later! Larry was very prompt in answering all of my questions in the months leading up to our event, and the band accommodated our requests with no hesitation. We played a slideshow during our reception and had asked the band to accompany it with a song, and they did a wonderful job extending the music until the slideshow completed. Larry met with us a few weeks before the wedding to review all details, and afterwords I knew we wouldn't have to worry about a thing on our wedding day!

A great band with a terrific range. Larry, the band leader, was wonderful to work with. He was very flexible and took us out before the wedding to discuss our thoughts for the big day. He took a real interest in us and asked about what kind of songs we wanted played, the age range of the people attending our wedding and answered our many other questions. It made us feel very comfortable to know we had someone who really cared about making our celebration fantastic. We were very pleased and had a wonderful time, as did all of our guests. We would use them again without a doubt.

Retrospect literally MADE our wedding. Every guest came home talking about how it was the best wedding they'd been to because of the best wedding band they'd ever heard. This is quite the feat considering I am the 3rd bride in my large Italian family this year alone! Larry and the gang went above and beyond: traveling to our out of the way site, learning all our favorite songs, and being professional beyond all measure. They had solid transitions between dinner, dancing and special events (eg cake) and were great at perceiving the needs of the group. EVERY single guest danced, even my uncle on crutches who never has at any of the others. Our entire venue was packed until after the last song finished. We have already recommended them to all our friends, most who aren't even engaged yet.

We had the pleasure of having Retrospect play at our wedding in Annapolis, MD in April. We could not have been happier with the band! Retrospect had everyone who was able to be on their feet dancing the entire evening (including my 91 yr old grammy!). I don't think I left the dance floor for more than 5 minutes! Their musical repertoire was expansive - including songs from the 40s to today's pop hits. Larry, the group's leader was kind enough to have brunch with us two months before the wedding to get to know us, what songs we wanted to hear on our special day, which songs they would learn for us (YEP - they learn songs that are not on their already mile long list - impressive!), and which songs were big no-no's. No request was too big for Larry to accommodate. Larry was organized and extremely helpful, as well as professional. The band members, which included multiple singers, were talented and energized throughout the evening. Retrospect was truly top notch and the best decision we made in terms of vendors!

Absolutely the best band out there! The New York bands we were thinking of bringing down were 4x the price and didn't meet the sound, enthusiasm, engage the guests, or offered the repertoire of music. The two female vocalists were outstanding. These guys could take on the very best from Palm Beach to Maine. They were upper echelon all the way!
Larry took pictures of the wedding as well which were amazing. I don't know how he did it! These guys were easy to deal with, very professional, and simply the best bang for the buck!

Retrospect was beyond AMAZING for our downtown DC wedding reception. Throughout the planning process, they were always available for questions, and accomodated extra song requests we had which were not listed on their song list. They even learned our first dance song! Our dance floor was packed the whole night, and the guests even requested an encore after the last song was played! We keep receiving comments from our guests about how phenomenal the band was. The Retrospect Band was absolutely superb. Their musical skill, love of what they are doing, and professionalism exceed any band I've seen. As a nine-piece band, they are more expensive than many, but are more than worth every penny. Not only do they have an amazingly large repertoire (700+ songs), but they added another song we requested. Our wedding was a wonderful and memorable experience to which Retrospect added a great deal.

Larry Elliot and Retrospect Band are amazing! They helped make our wedding the best day ever and also made the process leading up to the big event as easy and calming as possible. They not only delivered the highest quality work, but made it fun to plan with them along the way.

Retrospect was one of the first vendors I booked when I got engaged and it was one of the easiest and quickest decisions I've ever made. Without question, hiring this band is one of the best wedding decisions you will ever make.

Larry and the band are not only gifted musicians, but lovely people to be around. They always deliver and are always consistent in their work, technique, and style. They are also accommodating, professional, and talented. They also have an amazing sense of how to gauge a crowd and play music to suite the mood.

The band plays a wide-range of songs across several genres and knows how to excite and energize young and older people alike. The entire room was dancing all evening and at the end of the evening every guest was feverishly chanting to the band to play just one more song. The vocals and acoustics were perfect and the band members had the crowd going wild when they came out and performed in the middle of the dance floor.

There are plenty of bands out there that know how to play great music but Retrospect takes it an important step further. They know how to play great music that always has a universally-appealing beat that's easy, effortless, and fun for everyone to dance to. They also know how to create an energetic set list that doesn't feel repetitive or stuck in one style. Larry is also a fantastic MC and knows how to guide the evening with purpose and confidence. He really helped set and move the pace of the evening along. These are crucial elements that help make a large scale event run smoothly.

Retrospect is a fantastic band that helped make our wedding night truly memorable. Larry, the bandleader, is extremely professional. He helped ensure that the entire process - from first selecting the band to performing on the night of the wedding - went smoothly.

My wife and I felt overwhelmed as we began to search for a band for our wedding. We were turned off by other bands that tried to be too “slick.” We came across Retrospect while going through a long list of recommendations from our wedding planner. We were initially drawn to them because of their independent status (no management company that hires out multiple bands) and their fun and friendly vibe.

Larry invited my wife and I to drive out to his house one Friday night to listen to the band rehearse. We knew right away we would hire them! They sounded great. Larry and the band had prepared a few songs we chose off their extensive playlist. We chose a wide range of genres – Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga – and they knocked each one out of the park.

The band literally played all night, with maybe one/two short (read: unnoticed) break during the dinner and the cake cutting. Our friends and family are still talking about how great the band was! Truly a highlight of our night.

Larry and the rest of Retrospect Band are amazing!! I would definitely recommend them to everyone. They are a 9 piece band and come at a very reasonable price. We met with Larry a few times and he is incredible. He is very organized and has many ideas on how to put together all the pieces of the evening. I could not have done it without him. The night of the wedding was perfect and the band was great. They sound amazing and are a lot of fun. They really know how to get the crowd going and on the dance floor..this was really important to us and they were great at it! They even play on the dance floor with the guests...it was awesome! This band has an unbelievable sound, singers are wonderful, and timing is amazing. They played all songs requested by bride & groom down to the exact pauses from the original recordings. Even more importantly the band leader was extremely helpful planning, providing suggestions for a good flow throughout the evening, and making everything so much fun. Retrospect is awesome. Almost everyone danced the whole time. Their songlist is enormous and crosses every genre. They even learned 2 new songs for the reception for the special dances. They were attentive to the wishes of the bride and groom and also played to the crowd. They made the reception a great party. They performed brilliantly and iimpressed a crowd that contained many professional musicians. They were professional, yet very much part of the crowd. The only downside was that they eventually had to stop playing because the reception was over. I would hire them again in a heart beat! They have some free concerts here and there from time to time, so go check them out.

Retrospect was incredible - exactly what we had always imagined our wedding band would be. Some more details on why you should not look any further for your own wedding:

1) The performance - most important was the quality of the show Larry and the band put on for our guests. A handful of our guests are in the music industry and we received compliments on our choice from them along with nearly all of our other guests. The evening ran like clock work in part thanks to Larry and the right music seemed to be playing at the right time.

2) The service - from our initial contact to after the wedding Larry was extremely available and helpful. The booking process was easy, and they worked with us in advance to learn a few songs we knew we wanted to hear - even on short notice. We felt like we had the right amount of control over what they would play, and they did a great job expanding on the list based on our tastes from there.

Overall they went above and beyond - our wedding took place during Hurricane Irene in DC and they were there and ready to rock on time without flinching. I can hardly recall them taking any breaks throughout the night - from our cocktail hour through the final song.

Incredible value, experience and service if you're looking for a larger high quality band that can play just about anything!

I can’t say enough about good things about Retrospect. I keep hearing “the food was good, the drinks were good….the band was INCREDIBLE!” and “that band was AWESOME!!”. So, they killed. Everything they did worked. And, by that, I don’t mean the standard party songs (which they perform extremely well). What I’m referring to is the special stuff we requested – they hit all the important, special requests we asked for, they did the songs we wanted to hear…..really, we couldn’t ask for more. And don’t think the details went unnoticed. I saw the choreography like the synchronized hair flip in “Zoot Suit Riot”. So I know they clearly pay a lot of attention to detail. As I drove my daughter and son-in-law to the airport the next day, her words, exactly, were “I can’t believe how much energy they had. When they came out on the dance floor during ‘Footlose’, I couldn’t believe it”. What can I say? They are professional without a doubt, but also really, really a lot of fun at the same time.

Having Retrospect at my wedding made the whole reception run smoothly! Larry, the band leader, is extremely easy to work with and he is so knowledgeable about how to make the sequence of speeches, toasts, and songs flow seamlessly into each other. Our guests were raving about the band for weeks after the wedding.

We originally saw Retrospect at a wedding in 2007 and loved them. So when I got engaged, I knew I wanted them to be the band at our wedding. We reached out to them immediately. They were very responsive and professional from the start. They allowed me to provide a list of songs we wanted played and songs we did not want played. I only provided a few in each category though because I wanted them to feel comfortable enough to play what they like/did best knowing our style of music. And they did! Everyone came up to me at the wedding and afterward to tell us how amazing the band was. They were so energetic and kept everyone dancing until the very end!

Retrospect, you are the best!!! Years ago, you wowed the crowd of my cousin's wedding and left our family and friends raving about your great tunes and fabulous, classy entertainment ever since. Last summer at my friend's wedding, you confirmed to me that you are the best wedding band around. So, when you played at my wedding recently, I had very high expectations. You, of course, exceeded my expectations and provided an incredible night of great music and the perfect entertainment for our wedding reception. The guests were on the dancefloor all night which is exactly what I wanted, and since the wedding, I have heard countless compliments on our band. Thank you, Retrospect, for making our day perfect.

Retrospect was an unbelievable band. They traveled to Pittsburgh and put on an incredible show. When comparing bands, we found that Retrospect's song list and performance were far beyond what the other "wedding bands" were doing. When we actually saw them perform at our wedding, they were 100x better than that, beyond anything we could have expected. Their music and energy kept building throughout the night, with each song getting more and more people out on the floor and having a great time.

Another point to note, Retrospect rotates band members in to sing as lead and backup, so songs sound right and you don't get tired of hearing the same person sing every song all night like you might if a band only had one.

I would highly recommend Retrospect to anyone and would say that they definitely set the bar about as high as it can go.

I had the pleasure of experiencing this band 3 times! The first time I heard them play was at my sister's wedding. Instantly I knew if I got married, I would have them play at my wedding. The second time I heard them play was at my sister's, stay with me, siter-in-law's wedding. At that time my fiance and I had already reserved them for our wedding. It just re-affirmed our decision that we were going with a great band. Finally, the third time I heard them play was for my wedding. As I expected I had a fantastic time and so did all of my guests! We had an outdoor wedding and it was hot and humid but that did not stop them from doing an excellent job.

My husband and I went to a wedding months later and there was a live band playing...they were nothing like Retrospect. The music was so loud, almost unbearable to listen to, they did not play very well, and they were boring. It made my husband and I really thankful that we had Retrospect at our wedding!

What I love about this band is that they are so talented, very professional, and they can perform!

Retrospect was absolutely wonderful for my wedding. I was kind of skeptical at first, my parents suggested hiring them but I had never been to a wedding with a live band and I wanted modern dance club tunes. My family already knew Larry but I hadn't met him. He ended up taking my husband and me out to lunch in order to talk logistics. He was very nice and easygoing, and wanted to make sure we got what we wanted. He explained that the band needed to take a few breaks during the evening so I provided a CD of dance tunes for him to play so I could get my "club" fix during the breaks. Also, the first dance song I wanted was not on their list so Larry had me send them an mp3 of the song so the whole band could learn and practice it.
The actual performance was AMAZING. Larry was a great MC, he was charismatic and pronounced everyone's names correctly. The bridal party and adults danced at the beginning to the older tunes, but by the end of the evening the dance floor was packed with everyone--mostly the young people. They really know how to work the crowd. My CD never got played because everyone loved the band so much; people wanted more until the very end. As for my skepticism about live bands--it is gone now. Live music is so much better. The band took ONE break in the entire 4.5 hours, which was when my dad had set up a slideshow for everyone to watch. Other than that, they kept going the entire time and even added on another half hour at my request. Afterwards I found out that I must have forgot to tell Larry beforehand that we weren't providing vendor meals, which had he told me would be fine if the meals were overpriced. Because I forgot to tell them they had to scramble at the last minute and send someone out to go pick up food for them. I did not see any of this. I felt so guilty to hear about this later but I never even noticed any blips during their performance, which I really appreciate.
Five months after the wedding I am still hearing compliments about the band, such as "I didn't think wedding bands could be good until I heard yours." Larry and Retrospect do not disappoint.

LOVE Retrospect. They played at all my husbands family wedding. First thing parents said when we got engaged was "we'll call Retrospect and see if they're available!". They know exactly how to run the show without being too invasive. They made my wedding memorable for me, my husband, and ALL our guests!

The band was EXCELLENT - they did such an amazing job and we got more compliments on the band than anything else. They had a great selection of music and played everything we wanted them to. I will recommend them to everyone.

Retrospect was just amazing- played all the songs we requested in advance that werent reflected on their playlist, and did an outstanding job on each of the selections! The dance floor was always packed, and for some extra dollars, they continued to play an additional hour to keep the party going! All the guests asked over and over again "who is this band?"- and wanted them for their weddings, events, etc. I liked how there was limited "MC-ing" - none of the cheesy DJ chatter that some wedding receptions fall victim to.
All in all- thank you so much Retrospect for helping to make my wedding such a fun party!

Retrospect was everything we wanted for our wedding. They did a fantastic job reading what the guests wanted, and yet were still able to blend into the background for those older guests that didn't want to dance. They played all the music we wanted and were able to adjust the wedding list to stay consistent with our idea for the overall theme for the night. Couldn't have asked for anything else from them - highly recommend!!

Thanks Larry and the rest of the group, you made our wedding a wonderful night!!

Retrospect was more than I could have asked for. I am extremely picky and they were wonderful. So many people danced at our wedding in August 2009 and people still tell me how much fun our wedding was. Those are the biggest compliments of all because you spend months planning for your special day and at the end of the day you want everyone to remember what a fantastic party it was! Larry is fantastic to work with - they offer great dancing music and will learn a new song for your wedding if you give them enough notice. You cannot go wrong with Retrospect!

Great band!!! They knew when to keep it down (during dinner) and when to pick it up a notch to make sure the party kept going! They have a great repetoire of music and also learned new songs that were important to us (including "The Rainbow Connection" for my dance with my now stepson). Provided good emcee services as well.

This was by far our FAVORITE vendor!! I would give them 10 stars if I could. Excellent, talented, fun.... etc. They encouraged everyone to dance and many times were on the dance floor with us.

We are still getting calls from our guests with nothing but positive comments about Retrospect. People who usually don't dance were on the dance floor. I am looking forward to seeing the video so that we can relive the first dance and everything else that happened that night. We left wishing that we booked them for another couple of hours because time went by too fast. :)

Larry was great to work with and answered any and all questions we had. He gave his professional opinion and was extremely flexible. We also booked one of the members of the band to play the guitar at our cocktail hour. Although I didn't get to hear him, I heard he was very good.

I promise that you will NOT be disappointed with Retrospect. Well worth the money.

So fun! They had everyone on their feet. Some guests (including my husband and me) never sat down! They were great to work with and even learned songs for us.

Larry Elliott and the rest of the band were completely AWESOME!! First of all they learned 2 new songs for us, secondly they are so much fun (great perfomers) and you have to have them sing SHOUT! 3rd extremely flexible - my husband totally forgot to give Larry the song for our wedding party to dance too, literally 2 minutes before we and our wedding party walked out to be introduced I happened to mention the song to Larry and he said huh, I explained it to him and he was not even phased in the least, just said not a problem we will take care of it!

It was perfect!!!

Hire them, they are so much fun and they were voted #1 in the Washingtonian. Oh did I mention they travel? I got married about 120 miles away!

We contacted Retrospect via a recommendation and they did not disappoint. We found them to be very easy to work with and very proactive in making sure they understood our wants and that the event went off without a hitch. Our guests are still raving out the music and the band members. We could not be happier with them.

I can't imagine any band being a better choice for a wedding reception! The band leader, Larry Elliott, is a dream to work with! A few days before the wedding, I learned that he even traveled to the Bedford Springs on his own time before our wedding to check out the setup. He had never been there before and wanted to make sure our special day was flawless.

On the night of, everything was precision when it came to Larry assuming the emcee role. As for the band's sound, well, they're just the best! I can't tell you how many demo CDs we listened to when choosing a band. While Retrospect was more expensive than some, no one held a candle to them. The choice was easy.

And, live, they were even better! Our guests were just blown away by their talent! I've never witnessed our friends and family having so much fun! The dance floor was packed all night! The classical guitarist during cocktail hour was perfect, too!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. They were not cheap, but you got a 9 piece band. They were absolutely WONDERFUL! Everyone at the wedding said it the band was phenomenal. Worth every penny considering I think the reception is all about dancing, and having a geat time. They were very involved, active, and great performers. Mine and my father's father/daughter dance choice was not on the list, and even though the wedding was a few weeks away, they said it was no problem. They did a fabulous job on the song! I would definitely use them again for a future event!!! Again, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Retrospect is a great band filled with excellent musicians. Their ability to play a very wide range of music ensured that all of our guests heard songs they love. We especially loved the songs in which the band got out on the dance floor and mixed it up with our guests. Larry and Retrospect, thank you for helping to make our special day an amazing party!

We hired them for our wedding with the help of my mom after finding them on wedding wire and through a friend. They kept the reception upbeat, and the dance floor packed all night long. I supplied them with a few songs for our special moments which they were able to work with us and perform, along with a recording of a special piece by my grandfather which they played during the dances which he loved. I would work with them again if I had to do it all over again and our friends are still commenting on how much fun they had on the dance floor.
