Elyse Sent on 09/11/2023More Amazing than We Ever Dreamed: A Dissertation for my OCD ladies & gents
If you want all your best friends, who have already had weddings, to tell you that you "WON" weddings and countless other guests to tell you how you had the most beautiful, fun wedding ever, then book Red Gate Farms. It was truly the wedding of our dreams! I will go into detail below, but in summary, RGF delivers in every way you could hope for:
- The outside scenery is even more gorgeous than in the pictures.
- Indoor spaces are equally gorgeous and romantic (which is important in its own right, but especially so if the weather moves your ceremony inside).
- The location is wildly close to downtown Savannah (10 min).
- INCREDIBLE VENUE TEAM: Melanie, PJ & Kyle are the most genuine, helpful, kind, informative, lovely people you could hope for, and they deliver in ways you haven't even thought of yet.
- Probably the most flexible venue to work with.
The only barrier for some people is going to be the venue fee, regardless of what's included (which is a LOT), and at first glance, it can seem a bit high. BUT before you write it off, make sure you consider the following:
- Bar pricing is a FRACTION of most other places. We had around 120 people, open bar with Call liquors (think Tito's grade liquors). The savings on the bar bill vs. what we would've spent elsewhere equated to cutting the venue fee in half for us. Oh, and they only charge you like $10 or something for those under 21 (a lot of places charge you the bar fee based on guest count even for kids).
- All the twinkle and cafe lighting in the venues are included. I dreamed of having that kind of lighting, and it is not cheap to have it done at a venue that doesn't have it.
- Ceremony Seating, Reception Tables and chairs, and white table linens were included. And a few pub tables as well.
- The reception venues have so much character, so you don't need a ton to make it a show-stopper.
- They also offer a lot of decor rentals at or below market price, and you save a ton of money because there are no delivery or setup fees (both are pricey and can double the rental rate). I could not believe how inexpensive it was to add (5) farmhouse tables for our head table. And PJ even let us use some of the round tables we wouldn't be using inside because of the head table, outside for cocktail hour so that older guests could sit comfortably.
- The most game-changing inclusion you never realized how badly you needed but absolutely do? The kickoff meeting. I am completely serious, and here's why: PJ talks with you, asking a bunch of questions, learning about you, your vision, budget, etc. Then he recommends 2-3 vendors he thinks will vibe with you, fit budget, vision, etc. And he is spot on. ALL OF OUR VENDORS EXCEEDED our expectations. We hired all the vendors he recommended except two (Hair & MUA; and photobooth) and both of those vendors had worked with RGF before, just weren't a part of their preferred vendor list. On top of each vendor kicking ass, they were genuinely really lovely people and we were beyond thrilled. If you are extremely OCD and analytical the way I am, this is invaluable. I can't imagine how much more time I would've spent researching, interviewing and stressing over selecting vendors if we had to find them on our own, if PJ had just sent me a list of all their preferred vendors, or if we had interviewed his recommendations and not liked them.
Other things we loved that I haven't already mentioned:
- Ok so I mentioned location, but this was so important to me. I did not want people driving long distances after drinking to get to accommodations which eliminates a lot of outside venues, especially barn venues. Also, with its proximity to downtown Savannah, Ubers/Lyfts were super cheap and easy to come by. Because of this, we didn't feel the need to provide transportation which is great because it really wasn't in the budget for us. And I really loved that you could leave vehicles there overnight until 11 am or noon (can't remember which). This, in addition to the availability and affordability of getting Ubers, made me feel like everyone had responsible options.
- I've never heard of another venue that will let you decide to move your ceremony inside up until an hour before your ceremony time. Most make you decide that morning. For me, that would've been a disaster because it was literally not supposed to rain at all, and then about 2 hours before clouds started coming in, and with my naturally curly hair, a wedding in the rain was not an option. That's a straight-haired girl's game. Everything outside was already set up, and all the reception tables inside were as well. An hour before, we made the call to move it inside, and they flipped the inside for the ceremony and then flipped again for the reception, and it didn't cost us anything. Because the Barn is so beautiful, our ceremony was still gorgeous, and as soon as I turned the corner to walk down the aisle, any disappointment I had moving it inside melted away. It was so intimate and magical because of the lighting; honestly, I think it was even better than having it outside. The photographer was able to get video of the outside setup for the ceremony and cocktail hour, which I was so happy about because I did love it as well.
- They let us bring in our own wedding cake & desserts. I didn't care about spending a lot on a wedding cake, and my mom happens to be super talented at it, so with the signing of the waiver (and my mom's hard work), it was so!
- They let me visit the venue like 4 or five times. I'm very visual, OCD, and ended up having a good amount of DIY. As the details were coming together, I needed to get measurements and get a feel for where everything was going to go. They were so patient with me.
- The getting ready rooms are to die for.
- They last-minute let me rent an additional hour of setting up time because I was nervous it wouldn't all get done in time, and boy am I glad they did.
This is the greatest hits of why we adore RGF, but there is so much more. We loved everything about our wedding and legitimately had no complaints, which I think is rare. The venue and the team are amazing, and you can't go wrong.

Couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else
When we first went to look at the venue we instantly knew this was the place for us. the venue itself is so beautiful. On top of that everyone that works there went above and beyond for us from providing trusted recommend vendors (which all did great) to waking us through every detail of our day. We are so grateful for RGF making our big day so special. -

Red Gate Farms wasn’t what we envisioned when we sought out to have a small wedding (55 guests), but when we walked the grounds with Melanie - we fell in love! From there, Pj held our hand through the planning process (without a planner.) The inclusions and beautiful landscape were the key selling points for us. We highly recommend renting the Hayloft above the barn during your event. It was truly a perfect day! I would definitely hold another event at Red Gate Farms! Thank you to Melvin, Joyce, Kelly, Pj, and Melanie for all their hard work.

Red Barn - Red Gate Farms
We got married at Red Gate Farms in the Red Barn on August 25th. The venue is very beautiful. The wedding coordinators Kelly and Joyce were very accommodating they helped with setting up our DIY decor. PJ, the manager was very responsive and also accommodating .They were all kind. They offer a lot of options, ranging from decor, games to sparklers. They have a reasonably priced priced open bar option, which we used at our wedding, The dressing rooms are very spaces and decorated nicely. I would recommend this venue . We had no issues wedding our wedding and we are very happy we booked with them. -

We got married at red gate 4/27/23. We are so happy we chose to get married here. It is such a beautiful place. The trees, twinkle lights & the overall feeling of the place is just magical. -

Savannah Winter Wedding at Red Gate Farms
We loved The Barn and Its MAGICAL feel especially with the early sunset in Winter.
They Rye grass was perfect and the staff day of and leading up to the wedding were amazing. We used all Red Gate Preferred Vendors. -

Wedding at The Grainery
We had our wedding at the The Grainery, May 7th, 2021, we loved it! Our reception was at the grainery and our ceremony was underneath the oak tree right next to it, everything was beautiful. Red Gate Farms has so many old beautiful oak trees on their property, all great for taking pictures (Love tree). Their responsiveness was quick and informative. When there was a mix up on their part, we had to change our wedding date, they quickly were more the accommodating to us. The day of our wedding, everything went so smooth. Sylvia Smith was very pleasant to work with and present the day of our wedding. Venue and open included in price. -

AWESOME Crew at Red Gate!!
Sylvia and her crew made my event a rounding success!! They left nothing out and was there for me for whatever I needed. They helped captured the true essence of what the event was all about. Loved the professionalism and their friendliness. If you haven't booked at RED GATE FARMS yet, you don't know what you're missing!! They will make sure your dreams come true!! We fell in love with Red Gate after our tour with Melanie. Shortly after we started working with Megan. Their customer service and professionalism is unmatched. This venue is absolutely beautiful and there are not enough good things to say about Red Gate. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we had a perfect day! -

Red Gate Farms was a dream come true. They so incredibly organized and so hands-on with the planning process. They organized a “fun day” for us where we could meet all the vendors we were interested in hiring, which made planning SO easy. My bridesmaids and I had access to a getting-ready room as early as 7 am. And obviously, the venue was absolutely beautiful. -

We got married at The Barn and it was astonishingly beautiful. The venue was perfect, we had approximately 80 people attend our wedding. There was more than enough room, and there was no crowding. The venue set everything up perfectly without any hesitation and was super professional. Megan is fantastic and will answer any questions you have! -

We had the wedding outside under a beautiful tree with the pond in the background and the reception inside the red barn! The staff is awesome also! Anything I wanted, they made sure I got! Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a country wedding while also not breaking the bank just for the cost I the venue! Definitely a must see! So happy how everything turned out and to have been their first wedding!! -

We had an amazing day at the Barn at Red Gate Farms for our wedding. Our ceremony was in front of this beautiful tree by the lake, and our reception in the barn. The Venue is absolutely Stunning! All of our guests were raving how beautiful it was, and what an amazing time they had. Megan Lucas is amazing! She was great to work with, however, I just wish she was my contact the entire time (but I understand she had other responsibilities). I was passed onto 2 more contacts after that, and both were not as responsive as Megan was. I had to wait days sometimes a week to hear back from them. I also did pay for votive candles to be added to our dinner tables, they were not. And I have yet to receive a refund for that. Also, I have yet to have anyone answer my emails with my concern. I actually haven't heard from them since the week before our wedding. If I didn't work with Megan in the beginning the score for responsiveness would be 0. However, Megan put together the original contract and was such a pleasure to work with, she is the reason for the better score. She also, stopped in to say hi on our wedding day, even though she was off. Megan is your star employee, hands down! Besides the small hiccup; the grounds are maintained beautifully and Red Gate does an amazing job providing a great venue for weddings or any event. Aside from Megan Lucas, I would just recommend better communications with your clients. -

The day of our wedding turned out fabulous; Melanie went above and beyond herself to make sure our day was perfect. We booked the barn about 18 months in advance (the earliest you can book it). Leading up to the wedding their were some mishaps that were out of their control and some that weren't. These mishaps did cause some stress, but who isn't stressed when planning their wedding. Melanie and Megan were always able to fix the problems and made sure our day was everything we wanted it to be. The barn is an amazing, beautiful location to do the ceremony and have the reception right there! My bridesmaids and I stayed in the loft that is connected to the barn the night before the wedding; it is super cute and ideal for hair and make-up. There are many places to get your picture done around the farm and they turn out amazing. We are so happy with out day and how magical Melanie helped make it! They are very accommodating to your wants and making sure things happen! We are very happy we chose Red Gate Farms to get married! -

My wife and I had been to a few different venues when we were first looking, but as soon as we saw Red Gate we knew it was the right choice. We went with the Grainery location. It was the perfect setting with both indoor and outdoor options, and the carriage was the absolute perfect touch. The whole experience was overall very good, and my guests absolutely loved it. There are some limitations on which vendors you can use (particularly catering), which can make things a little stressful during the planning stages, but ultimately everyone we ended up using worked out well. I do wish we could have had the Belle Tower for longer for preparations and the reception area for later into the evening because everyone was having a great time, but these are pretty minor compared to the overall good experience. All in all we have no regrets in choosing Red Gate! -

Beautiful Venue
This venue is absolutely breath taking. We had our ceremony and reception at the barn and it was just stunning. I wanted a rustic chic style wedding and this venue fit the description perfectly. From the beautiful stables, the lake behind us during our ceremony, To the twinkling lights inside the barn made it such a romantic and unique experience. -
