Best Day Ever!

We recently had our wedding at Recreation Park 18 (Big Rec), and it was truly an amazing experience from start to finish. From the very first time we toured the venue, I loved it immediately. The layout is perfect — having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location made the entire day feel seamless and easy for both us and our guests. Our dogs were able to be a part of the ceremony and that was SO FUN! We also had access to the ceremony space throughout the night, which allowed us to set up lawn games and gave everyone extra space to relax and enjoy themselves.

The bridal suite was cute, clean, spacious, and the perfect place to get ready. We opted to have champagne and snack trays in the room, and it was set up beautifully when we arrived. Honestly, it was the little details throughout the entire process that made such a difference.

The food was absolutely incredible. Almost every guest we’ve spoken to since the wedding has mentioned how delicious everything was. The staff was equally amazing. Myra and the entire event team were so kind, attentive, and organized. They moved with such a sense of purpose all day, and I always felt like we were in good hands. One thing I especially appreciated was that they made sure my dinner was brought to me right when I actually had a chance to sit down and eat, so it was still hot, and they made sure my water glass stayed full all night long. Small things like that really showed how much they cared and paid attention.

We also didn’t hire a wedding coordinator, but between our DJ, Sadie, and Myra, everything flowed so smoothly and completely according to plan. I never felt stressed or confused about what was happening next. I also want to mention how impressed I was with the transition between event directors. We had originally been planning with Tawnya for most of the process, and about a month before the wedding we learned she would be leaving and Sadie would be taking over. From our perspective, the transition could not have gone more smoothly. There was absolutely no lapse in communication or service. Sadie knew every detail and picked up right where Tawnya left off, which made us feel so supported during such an important time.

Big Rec gave us such an amazing wedding day and memories we will cherish forever. Everything looked beautiful, the staff was exceptional, I stayed on budget, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a wedding space with an incredible team behind it.

Your Long Beach dream destination venue

Recreation Park Golf Course 18 was the perfect venue for our wedding day. From our first visit through the ceremony, Tawnya worked with us on every detail: from guest count and tailored preferences to vendor and dietary choices, ensuring nothing was overlooked. The open grounds and green landscape created exactly the mood we wanted, and their team went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. What stood out most was how supported we felt throughout the planning process, which let us focus on the other elements that made our day special. Myra was a stellar coordinator, and her outdoor food-and-beverage team was thoughtful and responsive at every turn. If you're looking for a destination-worthy venue with staff who genuinely care about your celebration, we highly recommend Rec 18.

Absolutely wonderful and everything we dreamed it would be.

Working with Tawnya (and Spencer) at Recreation 18 was such a wonderful experience. After viewing the venue for the first time and meeting with Tawnya, we knew this was the venue we wanted to use to celebrate our special day. The venue is incredible and so beautiful and had every amenity we needed and wanted. Tawnya was so easy to work with, incredibly communicative, very accommodating and helpful, had great ideas and assisted with additional decor as well. The wedding day went perfectly and was everything we wanted it to be. We cannot express our gratitude enough to Tawnya for all of her help throughout the entire process.

Magical and Perfect

The Perfect Date with Rec Park 18

The Recreation Park 18 Golf Course is a great wedding venue. Having our ceremony and reception at the same location was important to us, and Rec 18 exceeded our expectations. They offered a stunning grand hall and an outdoor garden that easily accommodated our needs. We also hosted our rehearsal dinner at the venue, which was wonderfully convenient and perfectly managed. We especially loved having both a bridal suite and a groom suite to get ready in. Each space—the grand hall, garden, cocktail area, and surrounding photo spots—was perfectly suited for the ceremony and reception, and the beautifully maintained landscapes provided an ideal backdrop for our wedding photos.

Beyond the breathtaking venue, the staff and coordinators were outstanding from the start. Tawnya, our venue coordinator, explained every detail and option thoroughly and was incredibly flexible and accommodating with any changes we wanted to make throughout the planning process. She also offered numerous options for reaching out to her for clarifications or changes. Aside from email, making appointments in person or via Zoom was easy through her online portal. The Rec 18 team, including the talented cooking staff, bartenders, and efficient service crew, ensured our day was seamless and enjoyable.

We cannot thank Tawnya and the entire Rec 18 team enough for making our wedding day so special!!!

For our memorable day

My wedding ceremony was held here this january and the venue exuded charm with its picturesque surroundings. The staff's attention to detail and seamless coordination added to the magical atmosphere. The overall experience was delightful, leaving our families with beautiful memories of our special day. Tawnya and her staff are incredibly friendly, communicative, and made the afternoon flow seamlessly. I was especially appreciative of her staff taking the time out to walk us through our wedding rehearsal and giving us helpful tips for our big day.

Amazing and intimate

Rec Park 18 hosted my wedding and it was nothing short of amazing. Being from the San Diego area, Tawnya kept in constant communication with us to ensure every detail was correct. The staff made sure the venue was pristine and elegant, and all of our requests were satisfied and did not hesitate to accommodate last-minute changes. Additionally, they coordinated with our vendors to have all the space and support they needed. The final result was a ceremony and reception that was beautiful and intimate and left my guests in awe. The banquet staff worked their wonders. From hors d'oeuvre to the main course, the food was delicious and filling. They also assisted with the wedding cake cutting, added decorations to bring an extra touch to the decor, and the bartenders kept my family and friends happy. There wasn't a single complaint, and we had many friends tell us how lovely and smooth the wedding and venue was. The entire team at Rec Park were professionals and showed genuine interest and happiness for us, our guests, and our wedding.

Beautiful Venue, Excellent Service, Great Collaboration

When looking for wedding venues we were hoping to find one that offered fair packages, great communication, and attention to detail, and that is exactly what we found at Recreation Park 18 working with Tawnya and her team.

Before we requested a tour we inquired about pricing and packages, Tawnya responded promptly and was very informative. We toured the location multiple times, before deciding on our venue and after, and every time it was a very positive experience and Tawnya was very accommodating. A garden wedding full of our own personality was what we envisioned and although we had some aspects of the reception area we wanted to adjust, the team was able to deliver our vision.

From start to finish everything was very clear, and if we did have questions along the way Tawnya was able to communicate with us promptly and was assuring throughout the time leading up to our wedding day.

We attended a tasting which we enjoyed very much and further, we were also able to speak with Mayra who led catering and preparation the day of the wedding. Mayra was able to speak to us about her experience and even gave us ideas for our own wedding and appeased any doubts we had.

Tawnya, Mayra and the entire Recreation Park 18 team were very understanding of our needs, patient with our questions, flexible with our requests, and above all truly understood our vision and helped us make it a reality.

The day of our wedding, our personal wedding coordinator worked alongside Mayra and her team to execute our wishes and schedule. The catering staff in particular were so kind and professional. Separately, our wedding photos can show how beautiful the course, patio, and garden areas were and could not have asked for better collaboration to make this day possible.

We are so grateful to the team and fully recommend the services and accommodation of Recreation Park 18.

Best venue and team ever! And we’re not just saying that!

After scouting a few venues, we settled for RecPark. Besides their elegant venue, Tawnya, the Manager, is fantastic! She has in-depth knowledge of weddings, their venue, their amazing packages and offerings, works with you to achieve your wedding day dream vision within your budget. Moreover, they had a great list of preferred vendors to work with that we worked with. They accommodated our requests graciously especially because we had family and friends coming from overseas. Needless to say, that our wedding came out beautifully! Mayra, the F&B Director, and the RecPark team were amazing and gave us and our guests an amazing customer experience. My husband and I were like VIP guests at our own wedding. We had fun and really enjoyed our special day as we celebrated with family and friends! We highly recommend RecPark and would be back to do our other future events as they do more than just weddings!

The most amazing experience

Incredible. Truly amazing. I search for 9 months for a venue and finally found my dream venue. You always worry about how a venue will treat your event but truly, they surpassed all my expectations.

I truly came so I’ll prepared for my event and their entire team stepped in exactly where they needed to and made my dream wedding come true.

It was just incredible. Maya and Tawnya are dream makers and I am forever grateful for the event they were able to do for my wedding.

Their reception room I turned into my ceremony and i loved it! And the garden area was the most beautiful “under the stars” reception.

Everything was perfect and it was all due to their incredible staff who made it happen.

I’ll never forget this night. Thank you REC 18 for making me so happy.

Dream Wedding

Tawnya and the team at Recreation Park 18 were able to help give us the wedding of our dreams. The night really felt like a dream come true and we felt like royalty. The venue is truly stunning and the staff was amazing. The staff truly puts the cater in catering service. They catered to our every need and always made sure we had anything we needed. The outside bar ended up being ideal as it created an outdoor lounge for people to be able to hang out and chat. The bartender received many praises from my friends and family about his service and his skills. Chef of course blew everyone out of the water with his food and sauces. We had several people ask me what catering service we used because they were so impressed with his dishes. We will be forever grateful for tawnya's help along the way. Her knowledge and passion made throwing a wedding not seem so scary. We knew from our first encounter that she would take care of us and was committed to ensuring we had the best wedding possible.

An Amazing Multicultural Day Executed by Professionals

I wanted to write a thorough review so I used the rating categories as a jumping off point.

BACKSTORY: I am Nigerian American and my husband is just American. A big goal for the day was to incorporate traditional Nigerian wedding elements with American (specifically African American) culture.

PROFESSIONALISM: The quality of this venue and event staff can not be overstated. From planning to execution it was clear that these people were knowledgeable about planning a complex event. When we had narrowed down venues and we’re on the fence, they even made the effort to give us a Covid compliant tour of the grounds to assuage any doubts we had that the venue was for us. Furthermore, on the day of the wedding itself, the catering staff were so efficient at setting up and running the event. For example, during cocktail hour, waitstaff had the foresight to bring appetizers over to the garden where photos were being taken so no friend or family member went without food.

RESPONSIVENESS: We began planning our wedding in August 2020 in the thick of the pandemic. At the time the main event staff was laid off and they had a skeleton crew managing multiple venues. Even with a limited staff, my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. Once things began opening up and it was clear that we would be able to hold our wedding as planned, we were put in contact with Tawnya. Unbeknownst to us at the time, the venue was still working with limited staffing. We were not able to tell at all because Tawnya was responding to us in such a timely manner and would make time in her busy day to speak with us whenever we popped by the venue.

QUALITY/VALUE: The value received is far and beyond worth the price. Starting with the location itself. Having a separate ceremony and reception space was essential to our plan. Not only does Rec Park have the large garden area (with very aesthetically pleasing grassy backgrounds and market lights), they also have a grand ballroom and patio for cocktail hour. That is three distinct locations all close enough for our elderly guests to get around on this course. We used their outside catering package because we wanted to have traditional Nigerian food at our wedding. However, that package included so much like our dessert table and delicious cocktail hour refreshments of our choice. All linens were provided in our color of choice, we had waitstaff assist at our buffet, water and lemonade stand and more. We also opted to upgrade to the five hour full bar package. This package was a huge hit with our guests at an amazing value.

FLEXIBILITY: This is one of their biggest selling points. Planning a wedding during Covid with everyone changing restrictions was incredibly nerve racking, but the venue’s flexibility and willingness to work with us made it a lot better.

CONCLUSION: Book here!!! Everyone is incredibly kind and competent at their job, the packages they have are an amazing value, the venue is gorgeous, and most importantly all of the positive qualities come together to make for a beautiful wedding that you will never forget.

Simple and great communication!

We chose this venue because it was local and has a beautiful outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour area, and spacious reception room! It also has a gorgeous bridal suite (rare to find all in one place). Plus they had a great package deal! Tawnya and Julian responded to every question I had right away and helped me out so much through out the process of my wedding! Tawnya was there the day of and made me feel so calm, comfortable, and excited and helped organize so much for me especially the ceremony! The food was great and their staff for the night was incredible and so kind! Highly recommend this place for your wedding!

Loved having our Wedding here!

We looked at over 10 venues before choosing Recreation Park 18 Golf Course. Once we saw it we knew it had everything we wanted!

We had our wedding ceremony & reception here on 10/12/19. The planning process with Juliann was fairly simple & everything came together perfectly. We even had some special requests that she accommodated. They have group tastings so you can sample different menu choices. We went with a plated choice of Tri-Tip or chicken & received a lot of praise after the wedding for how great the food was. We also did late night snacks that were delicious as well. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

The outside ceremony at the gazebo was very pretty & perfect for photos. The cocktail hour area is a very cute patio with lights strung across, just enough space for our guests to mingle & enjoy the bar/appetizers. The reception room has a beautiful high ceiling with barn style wooden beams which went great with our rustic wedding. Good sized dance floor & fireplace right by where we had our sweetheart table. There was a small grooms room for the guys to get dressed & hang out. Upstairs they have a bridal suite that is gorgeous with big mirrors, couch/chairs & a private restroom.
We are very happy that we chose Rec Park for our big day, everything really did turn out beautiful! I feel like it’s a hidden gem in Long Beach & I’m surprised that we haven’t had any of our friends or family use this venue before. We would definitely recommend it to any couples looking for a great local venue.

Unforgettable!

Many of my close friends have celebrated their wedding here (ceremony and reception) and we have always had very positive experiences as guests. My wife and I planned on this location since Juliann and Vanessa have become well-acquainted with us. We were not disappointed. Best Day Ever!

My husband and I checked out many venues in and around our area for our big wedding event. We knew that we INSTANTLY loved Recreation Park 18 Golf Course for their gorgeous gazebo out in the garden and picturesque views on the lush green golf course surrounded by palm trees... not to mention the rustic, vintage feel of the reception hall. Additionally, no other venue came close to their pricing and amenities! In the end, we picked Rec Park for our event and we were SO glad we did! Juliann and Tawnya were so helpful and made it all so easy. Not to mention, the vendors that we selected off their recommended list also were absolutely amazing! Everything was perfect and it was the BEST day ever! I have since recommended Recreation Park 18 Golf Course to a few friends for their weddings. Thank you to the team! You are the best!

Excellent venue and staff

Excellent place to have a wedding. The event coordinator, Juliann, is amazing to work with- she met with us multiple times before the event and was able to accommodate a few special requests that we had. The space itself is gorgeous- outdoor ceremony area at a gazebo with beautiful flowers, outdoor patio area with lights and green wall to create some privacy, and the reception room has a fireplace, exposed wooden beams, chandeliers, and tapestry- very minimal additional decoration needed for a simple wedding. The food on site was also top notch- our guests kept commenting on how good the food was and we definitely felt that way as well! The entire experience from start to finish was incredible and Rec Park 18 helped make it so special!

Beautiful wedding in a beautiful setting

Juliann, Tawnya, and the entire team at Recreation Park 18 were amazing to work with. My initial phone call to Juliann was met with enthusiasm for the potential to work together and immediate interest in my concerns, questions, and who my husband and I are as a couple. Every detail was considered and it was clear from the start that our wedding was going to reflect us and not a package provided by the venue. Our wedding was perfect because Juliann, Tawnya and their team helped to make it -our- perfect day!

During the planning process, we were also invited to the venue for wedding shows and for food tasting. Having these two events available during our wedding planning allowed us to see what the venue could look like and how we wanted to decorate it and use the space on the big day. I was confident every step of the planning process that every detail would be looked after and we all would have a wonderful time.

Excellent venue with professional and courteous staff.

We had ourNovember 10th wedding here. Juliann and Vanessa were great, helpful, and accommodated every request. Our ceremony was great, the food tasty, and the service was impeccable. Great experience!

My husband and I loved having our wedding here! The gazebo was a perfect backdrop for our ceremony and working with Juliann was such a blessing. She was so helpful and helped us work within our budget. Our guests loved the venue and the appetizers too! I definitely recommend hosting your wedding here.

My Wedding Day was Amazing!

This venue is absolutely gorgeous! I immediately fell in love with the wooden ceiling. Juliann and Vanessa were so easy to work with. All my emails were answered in a promptly manner, that’s another reason why my husband and I chose this place. The communication was perfect. Our wedding day was amazing, and the staff was super helpful.

We celebrated our daughter’s sweet 16th bday party herein October 2016. Love the venue! You have the place all to yourself. They have a bridal suite or changing area with bathroom for your private party. Plenty of free parking spaces(very important). Beautiful bar area. Love the back open patio area where we put some cocktail tables & couches & photo booth too! We decorated the place really nice. (Ria’s sweets & Caterer). We were happy with the food. My party coordinator Ria did a fabulous job with the decorations & dessert table(plus chocolate fountain in pink!). Staff were all friendly & helpful. Overall, it was great. I continue to recommend this place to others. In fact we are having our next work Xmas party there this year! :)

All of the staff were wonderful, professional, and accommodating throughout the planning and execution of our wedding day. Myra was the banquet manager and made sure everything was handled including the bride and groom being well taken care from the ceremony until the end of the night. She made sure we had drinks and food and that all of our needs were met. We purchased the BBQ buffet and it was fantastic! The vegetarian/vegan option was also well liked. The chef was very committed to our experience from tasting to delivery. We received so many compliments on the food and the presentation was beautiful. I was also very impressed with the "getting ready" food options for the bridal suite and groom's room--I would definitely recommend purchasing these. Our wedding day met all of our expectations and beyond. We are so happy we selected Rec Park as our venue and would give our highest recommendation to any couple trying to make the difficult decision of selecting the "right" location for a memorable day.

I love Rec Park. The deciding factor for me was that RecPark is all inclusive. From the ceremony location to reception location, to food, linens, and cake. You cant go wrong. Also, Juliann is so sweet and helps you understand all the little pieces from packages to deadlines. I'm so happy that my fiancee and I chose Rec Park for our July wedding!

This review is based on my experience planning my engagement at Recreation Park Golf Course 18. My family and I worked closely with Juliann and Nalysia, who were always helpful and available to answer our questions. They also did an excellent job at accommodating any of our request the best they could. Planning events can be stressful, but it is a peace of mind when you trust the people putting it together. This was not my family's first event here, and something tells me it won't be our last. Two years ago, we also had my college graduation party here, and it was equally wonderful!

Through out the evening of my engagement party I heard from countless family members and friends how beautiful everything looked. This venue is really something magical, with its high ceilings, beautiful draping, and enchanting chandeliers! The patio area is also really nice, but unfortunately we didn't have the warmest of weather in the evening so I don't believe the patio was used as much as it could or would have been on another day with warmer weather. We had 98 people attend our party and everyone fit perfectly! The banquet staff did an fantastic job with our buffet and helping the whole evening go smoothly. Everything went just as planned, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience!!

Absolutely love the Rec 18! Juliann was a pleasure to work with. We loved the patio cocktail setup. And OMG, the drapeing and light fixtures were so beautiful. It had a vintage style which is what we were looking for.

The ceremony site at Recreation Park is hands down the most beautiful site of all the different venues we viewed in the Long Beach area. It was the most intimate and breathtaking! The Cocktail Hour area was one of a kind and romantic... guests absolutely loved the twinkle lights on the patio. The reception was classic... the wood beams with the beautiful draping needed no extra dressing up. It was easy for my fiance and I to imagine our wedding here! Juliann and Nalysia were PERFECT and made sure that our vision was translated to our actual wedding day! They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and calm all throughout the planning process. I can't say enough about how exceptional my wedding was!

I LOVED everything about this venue! I got married here on 8/27/17 and I cant imagine being married anywhere else. Starting off with the bridal suite, how amazing is that! My girlfriends and I had wine enjoyed ourselves all while getting ready for my big day. Moving onto the gazebo, I held my ceremony there and could have not envisioned it any other way. Gazebo was surrounded by beautiful flowers and there was some sort of bushes surrounding the area creating walls, so the privacy was a major plus for me. Now, the ballroom is completely stunning! The wood detailing and the chandeliers, it has the perfect rustic/romantic feel to it which was what I was looking for. As far as a venue its beautiful all on its own without any of my praises but customer service is where it counts. Juliann & Nalysia went above and beyond to answer any of my questions/concerns, they were diligent. They made my wedding planning and wedding day run smoothly, I would have never thought it would be as easy as it was. I recommend this venue and these girls to everyone! My guest, one month after my wedding, keep talking about the food, the service, and the venue itself!

We had our ceremony and Reception at Recreation Golf course and LOVED it. We knew we wanted to get married in our home city so and this was the first place we looked and it was conveniently the closest to our home. We had the best experience from day one. When we first arrived to check out this venue I was really impressed by the beautiful Gazebo where we would have our ceremony, Once we walked around more and saw the cocktail hour area and Ballroom we fell in love with this place. It was gorgeous, had a vintage feel that we loved but was not over the top, which is not our style. It felt just right for us. The bridal suite was a HUGE plus to why we booked here as well. A few months after we booked the event director we booked with left and Juliann Harkness filled the position. I must give by biggest compliments and thanks yous to her for getting all of our wedding details organized. She did this with such ease and was so pleasant to work with.Our wedding day went on with one hitch!!! It was the perfect day that we all hope for. I mean to feel like planning a wedding wasn't very stressful is the biggest compliment to everyone. The food was great and we got many compliments on the service of the bartender. I wish we could do all over again!

After searching more than 10 venues for our wedding, my wife and I found Recreation Park. Immediately we fell in love. The wedding site is right out of a bridal magazine and the reception site is gorgeous as well. Almost every guest came up to us during the wedding and complimented us on how beautiful the wedding and reception were. They had no idea that my wife and I were working on a shoe string budget. There are tons of beautiful wedding venues out there, what really makes the wedding is a staff that can make the event beautiful and hassle free. As soon as we met Juliann, we knew we were in good hands. She has this ability to put my wife's nerves at ease and explain everything thoroughly. She never once got frustrated working with our tight budget and did everything she could to give my wife the wedding of her dreams. She went above and beyond and we will never forget that. My son was married at this venue just last weekend and everything was just beautiful. Julianne worked with us on everything and we were thrilled with all of her attentiveness. The outdoor ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The yard where it was held was perfect, neat, well gardened. My son and his bride wanted BBQ, so they had a buffet of Tri Tip, Pulled Pork, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes and salad. The food was outstanding!!! I had so many people come up to me and ask where we got the food from. I even have one nephew say he wants his next year's wedding there just because of the food. I highly recommend Long Beach Big Rec Golf course for you wedding.

The reason I picked this venue from the start was because of their communication! Right off the bat they responded to my initial email within 24hrs. With more than 3/4 of my questions leaning in my favor I had to schedule an appointment to meet in person! When I meet with the event manger she was friendly, kind, easy to talk to and did not push the venue down my throat like many other venues I had looked at. Needless to say, it fit like a glove! We booked the space!! Throughout the planning process, Recreation Park was always there to ask our questions in a timely manner and work with my vision to make it a reality! I highly recommend checking this place out, its a great bang for your buck!!!

I used this venue for an annual formal banquet for a CSULB academic club. It suited our needs perfectly and they were willing to accommodate a couple changes we made to guests which was very helpful. I found the whole experience dealing with them very easy and efficient and I would highly recommend them to other CSULB clubs for their formal banquets and events.

We planned our wedding last minute. We only had two months to prepare and very tight budget. Fortunately, we found Recreation Park and Golf Course 18. Our coordinator and her assistant was very helpful and they followed our budget. We mostly communicated through email but still everything worked out smoothly. The packages they have are very reasonable and worth the money! The place is beautiful! The banquet hall has new drapings and it made the area look very classy. It did not really need much decorations. Also,the bride en suite is newly renovated and is great for photos. Also, the garden and gazebo looked really pretty. The cocktail area at night with bistro lights was very romantic. :) About the food, we had italian buffet and there were so much food and it was very tasty. All in all, I would recommend this place. :) Thank you for making our wedding memorable!

My fiance and I pretty much looked at every venue in Southern California. Most were beautiful but WAY over priced and not remotely worth the cost. We were getting very discouraged when we stumbled upon Recreation Park Golf Course. As soon as we walked in, we got really great vibes and just knew this was the place. Then we went over pricing and almost fell out of our seats, it was so cheap! It seemed to good to be true but it was indeed true! It was half the cost of the next cheapest place we had looked and much more beautiful and for filet mignon NOT chicken. We couldn't have been happier with the coordinator's customer service (Katelyn), the venue service, the food was delicious (we ended up having prime rib), the recommended vendors were fabulous, we could not have been happier. By far the best deal, for the best food, service and location.

This place is so beautiful! i had my ceremony and reception here which is nice not to have your guest driving around to different locations. Everyone loved this location I didn't need decorations for the ceremony with all the flowers already there and the green grass all over was enough. The bridal suite is awesome super cute and chic, my bridesmaids loved taking pictures of it especially when we got our appetizers and champagne. The food we got everyone loved! The director that helped me was Katelyn and she was super helpful and very responsive. She helped me with every step of the way even with suggestions on the decorating of the venue. She's very helpful the day of the wedding as well. I definitely recommend this venue, but make sure when getting a price you get it broken down as everything starts to add up more than you expected.

While I didn't end up booking here (it was my second choice) I had to leave a review for the amazing service and experience they provided. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews about a woman named Dori, and I actually had a similar poor experience with her. I gave them a second try and they've recently changed directors and the new girl, Katelyn, is AWESOME. She is so nice, helpful, and very willing to work with budgetary issues, which I found refreshing.

The ceremony space is gorgeous, reception venue was recently re-draped, and very lovely as well. Not to mention ladies, they have a KILLER bridal suite. Seriously, I almost booked there just because of that. In the end, I felt my guest list was a little too high and didn't want everyone to squeeze, or else I would have booked there. Highly recommend!

Our wedding reception was beautiful!!!!! Everything we had thought it to be and much more..Cathy and staff did an outstanding job..The food and service was excellent. Even though there was a small tree fire outside in parking lot right as my husband and I arrived in our limo, It did not take away from our reception at all!! We even took photos next to the fire truck/firefighters!!!! We walked into the clubhouse at Rec Park and knew it was the place for us. Not only was the venue gorgeous but Cathy was very helpful at making sure our day was everything we expected. My husband even got to bring in a soda he wanted specifically for himself and it was chilled and kept only for him. Cathy Kraus was absolutely amazing. So knowledgable and helpful. She really put our minds at ease. We were considering another golf course but once we met with Cathy, she sealed the deal for us. For a bride, she's the best asset. She's been doing this for years and truly knows her stuff. Everything went so wonderfully. The food was really good & the staff was very nice & professional.

WONDERFUL! Absolute best service ever! They help you deal with the stress of planning a party, everything ran beautifully on the day of my event. Cathy is amazing, she helped this party come to life! The waiters' service on the day of, oh my, the BEST. Very good service, always treated you with a smile, and they lighted up the mood. :D

We looked at a lot of venues and chose rec park for its value. Cathy is a pleasure to work with, she is on top of every detail. She spent as much time as we needed to feel comfortable about all of our decisions. our guests raved about the food and the cake. No doubt we would choose this venue again.

Amazing- we loved it here! MY husband and I looked at several locations before finally deciding to book our ceremony and reception here and boy, were we pleased! We really wanted Mexican food, but it wasn't on their menu... no problem, they custom designed a menu for us! We brought in ideas and gave them our budget and she came back with amazing options, from Chili Verde Enchiladas to Chipotle Salmon! YUM :) All the guests raved about our food and we were thrilled. It was also important to us to have Mexican beers and Margaritas on the rocks, so they stocked the bar accordingly! This place was so accomodating I almost felt bad!
The room is the perfect size for about 150, and has great lighting and ambiance. The staff was curteous, professional and awesome! The day-of the manager introduced himself to me, and when the ceremony was over he brought me and my hubby a drink since he knew we would be stuck taking a few more photos- what a sweet heart :)
All in all this place is great, they have menus and "packages" but don't be afraid to ask for exactly what you want- they will do thier best to make it happen and give you the most for your money!

We booked our wedding last minute but still everything worked out. We only had two months to plan and very tight budget but Shelby and her assistant was nice enough to work with us. The venue looks very nice even without much decorations. The ceiling draping is beautiful! The patio at night was gorgeous the string lights made it very romantic. Also, I would say the wedding packages that they have are reasonably priced compared to other places we checked. The food they served during the wedding tasted very good! We had the buffet style and there is so much food! Everyone on our wedding was full and had fun. All in all our experience is very pleasant.

Recreation Park was a true delight to deal with, from the ceremony to the reception and everything in between. The best part about the venue was Cathy Kraus, she was amazing! She knows her stuff and is extremely reliable and efficient. The staff was great, followed direction, and floor plans exactly the way it was presented to us. The food was great too, delicious and we were extremely pleased with our choices.

Recreation Park 18 did a great job of making sure my husband and I had the wedding we envisioned while still staying within our budget. I would definitely recommend RecPark18 to anyone looking to get the greatest value while also having a beautiful wedding.

I looked all over the internet for the perfect wedding venue and am so happy that I went with Recreation Park! The venue is absolutely beautiful; from the garden gazebo area, to the flowers and rose bushes surrounding, to the cute cocktail patio, and finally the elegant reception hall, this venue is amazing. I worked with Shelby throughout the whole process and was very pleased. She was very communicative and responded quickly to my emails and questions. I decided on this venue mostly because of the scenery and also because it is very private. The ceremony takes place in a private setting, walled off by shrubs from the golf course. This makes for a very intimate and private area. The reception hall itself is beautiful with the drapery and chandeliers it is a must see! I chose Torrance Bakery as my vendor for the cake and they did not disappoint. My now husband and I found a picture on Pinterest to show to the bakery and they replicated it beautifully! We also decided on a vanilla cake with a german chocolate filling and would highly recommend. As for the food, everyone was very pleased. We both had the filet mignon, which was moist and very flavorful. I would also recommend the salmon and pasta for vegetarians. Recreation Park includes a lot in their wedding packages and you really get a lot for the money. They include a day-of-wedding coordinator and I would highly recommend upgrading to a higher package. I worked with Ashley from FABweddings and she is so amazing! Even though we only had about 45 guests, I am so happy that I paid her a bit more to work her magic. She has so many decorations and signs that make your wedding personalized and extra special and she helped coordinate everything seamlessly. Overall my wedding day was perfect thanks to Rec Park and everyone else that was involved!!

I used Recreation Park Golf Course's outdoor garden courtyard for my evening ceremony and reception. The courtyard was private, intimate and peaceful for the ceremony and when the lights and music came on for the reception it made it feel like the happiest, most beautiful party. The guests loved the ice cream sandwich station, cake by Great Dane Bakery, and the butler passed hors d'oeuvres. We rented a small dance floor and it worked perfect. Shelby was super easy to work with, flexible, and friendly. Her assistant Victoria was there on the day of the wedding, she was helpful as well, even helped me straighten out the train of my dress before I walked down the aisle. Overall I was thrilled with Recreation Park Golf Course as my wedding venue!

Now that we have had our wedding here I wanted to update my review.

First of all, Katlyn is just amazing. She came in about a month before our wedding so I was a bit nervous since we had worked with Dori for nearly a year. I am so happy to have had her! She is truly a gem! I don't know what we wouldve done that day without her!
Everything was wonderful. The venue was beautiful. The food was great!'
My only complaint would be the servers. They were very pushy and rushing us. We wanted to do our cake cutting a little later than "normal" I guess. We told them but they continued to ask us every 10 minutes when are we going to do it. They also served the champagne for the toast way early. By the time we did the toast everyone had already drank the champagne. Also, we have the place reserved till. by 3:30 they were trying to clear tables and asking us to move our stuff. They were lucky I was so happy that day or else they would've heard an earful!

It was still such a beautiful place to get married and nothing beats the service that Kaitlyn gave us. Did I mention the AMAZING bridal suite they provide?

I had very mixed feelings when I selected my venue. I really liked the facilities- the outdoor ceremony site, the cute patio for cocktails, and the ballroom with the exposed wood beam ceiling. We didn't want anything pretentious (like some hotel ballrooms feel). Instead we wanted more of a rustic and quaint feel, and this fit our style. I was nervous though because I hadn't known anyone who had held an event there and I couldn't find many reviews.
As it turned out, I really didn't need to be nervous at all. Everything went off without a hitch and was just the way we asked. The food was good, the service was good, and everything was smooth and professional. They were also very accommodating about changing things or trading package items. Also, they do only one wedding per day, so you have flexibility with time and don't feel like you're being rushed through a wedding factory.
Cathy was my contact there and was very straightforward and no nonsense. That might throw some people off, but I appreciated getting direct answers to my questions. I also could tell that she was very organized. If I told her something once, it was in our file the next time I saw her, and everything was exactly how we wanted without me having to repeat myself. While it may not be the perfect venue for everyone, it was for what I wanted and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We got married at Recreation Park in the gazebo and held our reception inside of the beautiful hall. The venue is gorgeous and completely went with our aesthetic. We loved the hall and the staff's attention to detail in setting up everything. They also worked well with our other vendors. The only reason some of the rating isn't perfect is because they switched coordinators on us with no notice, which I felt wasn't handled well. Despite this, we got along with Dori well and she did a great job in communicating with us and helping us in setting up our big day. She honored the package that we had signed up with prior to working with her. The only thing that wasn't quite smooth in the transition was that the first coordinator had promised us golfers would be on the other side of the course by the time of our wedding and that there would be less of them there, opening up more parking for our guests. Neither of these things happened and didn't come up until the Thursday before our wedding, which at that point we couldn't do much about. During the rehearsal a golf ball actually came over to the gazebo- luckily on the day of the wedding, that didn't happen. Despite those hiccups, Recreation Park was the perfect setting for us to have our wedding and our friends and family were impressed with the meal, location and service.

Everything for the wedding is provided, and the set-up is done for you the way you would like it to be on that day. The overall experience was a good one and we were able to bring up any concerns and they were immediately addressed. I would recommend this vendor to other brides and their families.

Perfect for What We Needed

This venue was the perfect outdoor, open air, garden reception site in the midst of urban/suburban Long Beach. Our reception was everything we had planned and hoped for it to be and the team did a great job of making sure most everything ran smoothly!

This was a great venue for our Ceremony! We loved the location and the space that was provided. The gazebo was perfect for the our sunny wedding day. Shelby was amazing throughout the process of planning - she made sure everything ran smoothly. The only reason we did not have our reception here was due to the amount of people we had and wanting to have a reception inside, not outside. However, they can accommodate outside for a large group. I highly recommend this venue!

We were just married at recreation park on May 23rd. While looking for a venue we happened upon rec park and couldn't have been happier. When we first booked our ceremony and reception we were working with Dori and midway through Katelyn took over. I was a little apprehensive at first but those worries were quickly gone after speaking and meeting with Katelyn. The ceremony site is beautiful as well as the reception hall. There is a bridal suite that can accommodate just about every single person that needs to be there. I'd say there were 20 people with me while I was getting ready and other once did I feel crowded. I'm so happy we booked at recreation park.

Cathy is such a wonderful help! So considerate and flexible! my husband and I adores her! She is our Ms Vibrant woman!
Food is great! They will do it according to your taste and preference!
Place is awesome to turn into your dream place!
We are so happy in our decision to celebrate it in RECPARK! Awesome wedding! We thank God above all!

Just make sure to request for an outside heater in case you plan to use the patio. It could have been perfect for our guests to enjoy it if it was considered.

My husband and I recently got married on 10.14.16, at Recreational Golf Course. When we looked at venues we fell in love with how beautiful Recreational Golf Course was. The building is old so there are some challenges (its worth it). The day of our wedding there were some issues with our food; however, I was made aware there is a new chef now, I'm sure he/she will take care of you. Juliann, the sales manager, is also new however she is very responsive . The banquet staff is young but very nice and helpful! It is a very nice venue and I'm sure you will be in good hands.

Great venue to have any celebration, Dori was very helpful and professional all times. I have a lot of posiive responses after my daughter's wedding. If I have to name one thing to improve is to have more lights where my daughter's wedding at other from that service food employee were suburb. I will definitely plan my next party for my daughter's graduation/18th birthday next June

I would definitely recommend this venue. It is beautiful and perfect for a small to mid-sized event. The only real issues I had with the venue were 1) I didn't like that potential clients were permitted to wander around while we were setting up and even once the event had begun. It is hard enough being a bride on your big day without strangers lurking about. 2) I felt as though minimal attention was paid to my event on the day of... I was told one of the coordinators would be present through our grand entrance but barely saw them unless I sent someone to actually go and find them. Overall our event was as close to perfect and a wedding can get and my husband and I are completely satisfied with how everything turned out.

I had my wedding this Nov. 2014. My only complaint is that Dori our event coordinator, was at times very nice and professional but at the same time, she also seemed bother with me and my family when it didn’t go her way. The day of my wed she seemed moody and looked like she didn’t want to be there. Plus, She promised us quotes on “ book-early” incentives on the day we booked, but try to change them a month before our wedding. She did this a couple of times with other things, but anyway. The place is beautiful and everything is offer so your big day goes easy.
Other than that, the place is beautiful and intimate. The Mexican cuisine is not that good though. So don’t get it. I did a food tasting but it tasting different.

I liked the overall rustic look of this venue (specifically the hall), however it could use some renovations. We had our engagement party here and I would say overall we weren't too pleased. The bathrooms were VERY dirty the day of and the staff was rude. Thankfully we had wonderful friends and family around us and were able to overlook these details. I will say you get what you pay for as we didn't have a crazy big budget for our engagement party.

This is for the wedding venue only. We had our wedding there a few weeks ago (Nov 12, 2017) and all went well except a few issues.

First the best things : The staff was amazing and very helpful with all the questions and concerns. The Italian buffet was really good ( we had meatballs and chicken Parmesan ). We had coconut shrimp and the raspberry snacks as our appetizers and We got nothing but high praise on both of these items. The venue was set up amazing. The linens were beautiful and everything was set up on time and very professionally.

Now the bad parts:

The billing for our package always seemed to change and it was hard to get straight answers from people. We would be talking to one person and they never talked to other people in different positions who were part of the venues wedding package. The communication between everyone there needs to be improved. Next we ordered a special vegetarian meal for a guest and we never received it, luckily they were not too hungry. Julian the venue coordinator was helpful but she went on vacation and we had to deal with her asst. She tried but we could not get a straight answer about a few questions. There was a billing air that they failed to catch and when it was figured out we owed another $800. I would recommend this place for a wedding but make sure you pay close attention to anything that involves money.
