Rachel did an amazing job for both our engagement and wedding photos. I knew she was the right fit during our first meeting in which I could see her organization, professionalism, and expertise. I felt completely as ease throughout our wedding day knowing we would get all the pictures we asked for, and more. She was so kind and helpful (and did a great job wrangling a large family/wedding party). Our pictures are beautiful and I can’t recommend her enough! -

Wow. I am so happy we chose Rachel as our photographer for both our wedding day photography and engagement shoot. She almost doubles as a wedding day coordinator because she is so knowledgeable about wedding day flow. She also dealt with family and wedding party members (and 2 dogs) of all ages and attention levels with cool and calm demeanor and great sense of humor. Her pre-wedding communication was also quite helpful and organized with a detailed wedding shot list and suggested timeline of photos. I highly recommend Rachel for your wedding and engagement photos - you will NOT be disappointed! -

Having Rachel as our photographer was the easiest choice - I came across her online portfolio searching for wedding photographers who had done photos at the Como Conservatory and I was immediately taken by her keen eye for details and the soft natural way her photos are enhanced to let the subjects and the background look their best. I was able to reach out from her website and we set up a meeting to make sure we’d be a good fit.
Between her work and her warm personality along with her professionalism, Rachel made every step of the photography process a breeze. I came in not knowing much about what I might need in a photographer for the wedding day and after talking things through and getting to know me and my partner, Rachel was able to recommend a micro wedding session that would capture everything we were hoping for. That’s another super helpful thing about the photography Rachel offers - she has so many different packages and offerings depending on how much or how little coverage you need there’s sure to be a perfect fit.
My partner and I were able to schedule an engagement photo session with Rachel which allowed us to get to know each other better before the wedding day and firm up the kinds of photos we wanted for the wedding day as well. Rachel’s experience and knowledge of our venue at Como Conservatory allowed for the perfect shots to be taken easily and left little for us to worry about. She’s well versed at making everyone smile from giggly little kids to shy grandparents and her ability to organize group photos is unparalleled. From posed photos to candid shots, she captured it all with ease.
Rachel’s photos translate the happiness of our day into something tangible and permanent and we couldn’t be happier having her as part of the process. She’s professional, affordable, and a lovely person to share our special day with. -

Rachel was amazing from day one. During our initial call she created a timeline of our day. She was organized and spent time asking what we wanted.
Payment was easy as we were able to make payments over the year of planning. This was so helpful for us as we were able to split up the costs of the wedding.
Rachel has a survey that you take to outline every detail of your day. She assists in making a shot list to ensure you get all the photos you want. This was so nice as we were able to prioritize our photos.
Day of was amazing! We had Rachel and Amanda capture every moment. Rachel arrived with a smile and got straight to work. I lost my mom a few years ago and had my matron of honor help with my dress. I wanted her to also be a part of the first look, so Rachel helped me with the final touches (putting my necklace on and helping with my shoes). THIS speaks to how amazing she is. She made sure I was taken care of every step of the way.
Our entire wedding party had a blast due to how chill and approachable Rachel and Amanda were. They made jokes and gave great advice on poses.
You can tell Rachel is a pro at this as she kept us on track throughout the day. Family photos were seamless, and she knew how and where to place everyone in a matter of seconds. She sets up her shot list to minimize the in and out of people.
We also were able to capture everything we wanted. She snuck us out for incredible sunset photos, and she captured the moments of our guests that my husband and I were not a part of.
Our day was amazing because of her. Her timeline assisted in so many aspects of our day and she was willing to work with our other vendors as well!
Our sneak peeks had a minor hiccup as the email never came through, however Rachel was quick to reply and made sure we were satisfied as soon as I reached out.
Our final photos were delivered within the timeline and are organized by event type, and we were even provided with other color options (black and white and modern tones).
I had tears as she even snuck a photo of my memorial candle for my mom (which was just lit in the corner of our get ready room). This to me speaks to how much she pays attention to her clients and to the detail of their special day.

We love Rachel!
Rachel is absolutely incredible! She originally stood out to us because of her true color editing style and then blew us away with her professionalism. She was clear and honest from the beginning and always on top of it and open to communication! Her knowledge is expansive. She was prepared for the day and on the wedding day, she just crushed it. She was on top of the schedule and knew what we wanted, she has an amazing ability to get everyone's attention and in the right place at the right time - that can be so difficult for some, but everyone listened to Rachel! Not only is she an incredibly talented and creative professional, she is warm and kind. She listened to us, especially me (the bride) and could tell what I needed and when, that is just ABOVE and BEYOND! I felt so taken care of and seen by her, I knew she had my back. Our photos turned out greater than our expectations. She captured every deeply special moment of the day for us and it brings so many wonderful emotions back for us just looking at the photos. We truly cannot say enough good things about Rachel! We highly, highly recommend her! -

We had a cloudy/rainy wedding day and she did such creative things with out outdoor photos. Rachel was the MOST reliable, professional, organized, and calming presence of all the vendors we worked with during the craziness of planning a wedding during 2020. She was flexible with our changing wedding needs and helped me understand the best way to plan out timing for the day. Most importantly her photography is creative, distinctive, and beautiful. She really captured the vibe of the whole day. I had a many guest comment on how profession she was. I really cannot say enough good things about Rachel and her photography. She makes you feel comfortable in front of a camera in a way that brings out these amazing photographs. Her ability to capture moments and details is astounding, and she is just a great person to work with and speak to. As if all of that was not reason enough to hire her for your wedding, the cherry on top is her turnaround time with photos. She sent us our sneak peak (near 140 photos) just three days after our wedding. You truly do not find this kind of service just anywhere. If you are lucky enough, book Rachel. My husband and I hired Rachel after she shot my best friend's wedding. As a bridesmaid in that wedding, I spent significant time with Rachel and loved her calm vibe, expertise knowledge about things beyond photography (like how to lace the corset of the bride's dress), and the photos were beautiful.
We hired Rachel pre-pandemic and did an a mini-session for our engagement photos. The photos turned out beautiful. Our wedding date (and venue) ended up changing twice throughout our planning process due to COVID. Rachel was so kind, empathetic, and helpful through all versions of our planning process. She is an expert in photography but also in so many other related things that made our planning easier. She offered opinions based in lots of experience when asked and was a valuable resource to me.
When a family tragedy occurred shortly before our third wedding date, Rachel was so kind and gave me a ton of grace for being semi-out of touch/non-communicative during the lead up to our wedding. Despite my lack of clear communication, things still went off without a hitch the day of. Rachel brought the same calm energy to our wedding as to my friends's wedding, which was a great balance to my anxious self.
And most importantly, our photos turned out beautifully. We are so happy with them. Rachel has a like a spidey-sense for seeing and capturing important candid moments in addition to the obvious portraits. She captured tiny details of our wedding that we barely saw/experienced (because yes, that day flies by and is a blur) which are priceless to look back on.
Finally, without charging us, Rachel rushed us an expanded sneak peek of photos and a rough cut of our ceremony video when my father-in-law went into hospice the day after the wedding (he couldn't attend the wedding), so that we could share some details of the day with him. He passed away the following day, so her effort to get us photos and a video so quickly allowed us to have the gift of sharing that with my father-in-law before he passed away. We are eternally grateful.
I would hire Rachel again in a heartbeat. Not a moment of hesitation. She is the perfect mix of amazing artistic photographer + consummate, detailed, organized professional! And the value we received for what we paid cannot be overstated. She is worth it and so much more! -

Satisfied Bride and Groom
Rachel was the most caring and understanding vendor. She was very flexible while planning a Covid wedding. We received sneak peaks extremely quick after our big day. Rachel did a great job making us feel comfortable and captured every part of our day. One thing we didn’t realize was exactly how much Rachel would help the day “flow”. She kept us on track and captured all the moments while giving us the freedom to enjoy our day! Thank you Rachel! Your work will forever be displayed in our house! -

Fantastic to work with, great pictures!
My wife and I did both our engagement and wedding photos through Rachel Lahlum Photography (in a convenient package). She is very responsive, easy to get a hold of, and has a wealth of experience shooting in any setting around the Twin Cities. She was able to give us great advice about locations for engagement pictures and wedding party pictures. She is incredibly organized and handled all of the logistics day of – even with all our nieces and nephews running around! Her photography style gave us a great mix of traditional and candid photos. Our wedding was in a very old church with challenging lighting and the pictures turned out fantastic. On top of that, Rachel and her team were able to capture great pictures of the religious aspects of the wedding without being distracting to the guests or the service.
In short, she knows what she is doing. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!

Beautiful photos, wonderful photographer
We met Rachel last year and had her take engagement and wedding photos for us in 2019. From the first meeting, she was responsive, friendly, professional, and incredibly easy to work with. We don't love being photographed, and she immediately made us feel comfortable and put us at ease.
Our photos were stunning. We had our ceremony in a low-light planetarium, and Rachel knew exactly what to do. She got beautiful posed moments, fantastic candids and did some fun sparkler photos with us too. Before we even woke up the next day, she had already shared almost 100 photos, which were so much fun to look through at our post-wedding brunch with family and friends. We had her shoot our engagement session outdoors in the snow on a February morning, and Rachel was excited and eager to help us create the perfect photo shoot.
Her prices were fantastic, she brought a phenomenal second shooter with her, and she kept everything running smoothly through all of our family and wedding party photos. I would recommend Rachel to anyone. -

Rachel is absolutely wonderful to work with. She is organized and will work with you to find the perfect schedule for your time, family, family dynamic, and type of shots. If you are someone that doesn’t really know what you want, Rachel is perfect to work with. She has a lot of experience with many different couples and styles of weddings and can make educated suggestions that are tailored perfectly to you and what your desires are. She is very detail oriented, but if something changes in the schedule or you decide to cut the reception short, she is not tied down and will work with you because she believes wholeheartedly that it is your day and she will make sure you get the photos you want. If you are worried about not being photogenic, she makes it easy to face the lens of the camera by effortlessly directing you for a natural look. She is wonderful to work with. The quality of her work is astounding and the results were what we wanted and more. -

Rachel is seriously so amazing at what she does! She is so incredibly organized and efficient. She always had a running timeline for us that she edited as details fell into place during our wedding planning. She also had a detailed shot list of everyone and every thing we were looking for and crossed them off the list as she went. Rachel is also so quick and easy to communicate with. She usually would respond to any email I sent to her within a couple hours at most! As for her photography skills, there is no question! She blew us out of the water when we got our wedding photos back! I don’t consider myself to be a photogenic person but Rachel made them look gorgeous! And she also would help me or anyone out if a hair was misplaced or a dress or suit needed to be adjusted for the perfect photo. Rachel is amazing and you will not regret having her photograph your wedding!!!! -

Fantastic Photographer!
Rachel did a fantastic job! We are so happy with our sneak peeks. She is professional, efficient, and creative. We didn’t have a ton of ideas for shots but are obsessed with the ones she suggested. She also paid attention to details—buttons on jackets, glasses in hands, etc. which means she puts a lot of care into her work. We also got a ton of sneak peeks the day after, which we were thrilled about. Highly recommend! -

From the beginning to the end, working with Rachel was an absolute pleasure. She is very knowledgable, personable, responsive and just super easy to work with. Leading up to the event everything was smooth and without any issues. She does a great job preparing you and removing any potential worry and stress. During the event she was able to capture so many great moments, it was clear she has done this before! She had so many amazing ideas and was great working with our guests.

Kim Sent on 03/14/2018First of all, Rachel was a dream to work with. We had a photography emergency with our original photographer we had booked, so we didn't have the luxury of having a relationship before our wedding day. Rachel is so easy going and calming that she put everyone at ease immediately. She was fun and friendly, but also beyond professional all day. Secondly, we also got the pleasure of working with a second shooter, Mark. He was awesome! Both Rachel and Mark kept everything, whether it was family photos or portraits, efficient but also fun. We actually just got our sneak peek photos today and I am dying to see the rest of them in a few weeks! Words cannot adequately express how amazed and impressed I am with Rachel and I would recommend her to anyone!

I have had at really hard time trying to pick pictures to print and out up in our house because I am in love with them all!! She is very professional and helped to make sure we stayed on schedule for our big day. She included a photo booth for us which got an excellent response from our guests.
