Exceptional DJ Service That Made Our Wedding Unforgettable
We cannot speak highly enough of Michael at Puttin' on the Hitz DJ Service. From start to finish, Michael was professional, attentive, and truly understood the vibe we wanted for our wedding.
Many of our guests came up to us throughout the night to rave about how great the DJ was. Michael's ability to read the crowd and keep the energy high made the dance floor the place to be all night long. The transitions between songs were seamless, and the music selection was perfect for all ages.
One of the highlights of the evening was the karaoke session after the dance portion. The setup was impressive, and it was a huge hit with our guests. Everyone had a blast, and it was a fun and unique way to end the night.
Michael, thank you for making our special day even more memorable. Your talent and dedication to your craft truly shine through. We highly recommend Puttin' on the Hitz DJ Service to anyone looking for an exceptional DJ for their wedding or event.

MIchael Scott was an excellent DJ. We adjusted the start time by 30 mins 2 weeks before our event and he was able to accommodate this change. He was set up and completely ready to go at the start time. He played a great selection of music appropriate for each portion of our event (cocktail hour, dinner, dance). He was very engaged and kept the dance floor full. He completed all of our requests and guest requests during the event. Excellent. We also received a discount for booking early! -

Puttin' On the Hitz did such a great job with our reception! They helped with the flow of events and was super entertaining. We had a phone consultation after we booked them and they listened to all of our requests and held true to them. For example, we requested to not have songs played that had a ton of swearing. We had a couple friends suggest a song that did and he denied the request! Our friends didn't know we had requested that but when we heard from them that he followed through with our request, we thought that was pretty awesome. He kept the party going exactly how we liked it and easily could have kept it going all night. -

Michael went above and beyond to make sure our wedding reception was enjoyable for everyone. He knew that right song to play, at the right time, and the dance floor was full almost the entire night.
We had planned on an outdoor ceremony, dinner, and reception, and while we had a back up/indoor plan, we hadn't fully realized all the changes it would mean. The forecast the day of our wedding was for scattered showers and we decided to move everything indoors, rather than take the chance that it would be clear through the entire ceremony and reception. Michael was absolutely flexible and professional throughout that entire process, taking care of all of his details and working with the venue (not the bride or groom!) to get what he needed.
We had our wedding and reception at a mansion on the south side of Des Moines so we wanted it to be a classy affair - while still a lot of fun for everyone. When we thought we would be outside for the reception, we realized we would need lights once the sun went down and I communicated with Michael that I wanted "lights to match the tone of the venue" meaning I didn't want it lit up like a strip club. He totally understood what I was looking for and even when we were inside, his lighting and presentation was A+.
Michael is a terrific DJ - worth every penny. Very reasonably priced! -

Puttin’ on the Hitz did a fantastic job at our wedding! Prior to the wedding, Michael made sure to ask the necessary questions and had great communication so we knew that we were taken care of. His set up was very professional and it’s clear that he takes pride in what he does. Michael made the atmosphere upbeat and fun and kept us on schedule. 10/10 would recommend! -

The communication with Michael Scott from Puttin' On The Hitz was stellar! He went the extra mile to work with us in selecting our songs and helped us out with audio for a video presentation. He showed up plenty early to have all of his equipment set up on time for our wedding and was extremely easy going throughout the evening. I would highly recommend this company! -

Puttin' on the Hitz did a fabulous job at our wedding! We had the wedding at an event venue where we had the ceremony and reception in the same room. Puttin' on the Hitz provided the music at our welcoming reception; before, during and after the ceremony; and, of course the party/reception afterwards. Michael knew what types of music to play every step of the way! We had numerous songs before, during and after the ceremony. He knew exactly when to blend and fade the music to make our ceremony absolutely perfect! Also, his work ethic was excellent. I would absolutely recommend Puttin' on the Hitz for any event. Michael Scott went above and beyond what we expected from a DJ. He played a great selection, worked the crowd and made the dance the highlight of our wedding. The dance floor was packed from the first to the last song. He also did a great job improvising and playing the ISU fight song after my speech. That really topped things off and got the party going! I give Mr. Scott and Puttin on the Hitz my highest rating and we will definitely recommend/consider them for future events. Outstanding job!

I am so thrilled we picked Puttin on the Hitz to DJ our wedding. Michael was so easy to work with and did an amazing job. He kept the reception flowing well, even when we were a bit behind schedule. Most importantly, his music choices were spot on. He played exactly the types of music we asked him to including all of our "must play" songs and our dance floor was filled all night with guests of all ages. He even got my 78 year old grandma out on the dance floor. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience and would most definitely recommend Michael to any bride looking for an awesome DJ for their wedding. -

Working with Puttin' on the Hitz was so easy - it was a big relief to have a vendor I wouldn't have to worry about responding in a timely manner!
We hired Ryan for our wedding day and he did a fantastic job! Even though we only had 50 guests, due to being a Covid wedding, there was never a time when the dance floor was empty. I was SO surprised and thrilled! He even got elder grandparents and aunts and uncles out on the dance floor!
I couldn't recommend Michael, Ryan and their team enough! -

Puttin' on the Hitz did a great job from start to finish with our wedding and reception! They provided us with microphones for the ceremony which was a huge help at our venue. The music during dinner was perfect. The dance was loads of fun with a variety of music played and they stuck to the list we had provided. Everyone had a wonderful time! Michael handled the music for our entire wedding from the prelude to the last dance. He is prompt, professional, informative and very attentative to the customer's needs/requests. Michael was the DJ at my friend's wedding last summer, and I thought he did a great job. I loved the variety of music he played, and he kept things running smoothly. When I got engaged, this was one vendor decision that didn't require a lot of research - my fiance and I knew we wanted Michael to be our DJ. And we're happy with that decision. Michael's professionalism is second to none, he asks all the right questions, and he knows how to get wedding guests of all ages on the dance floor - and keep them there. I highly recommend Michael/Puttin' on the Hitz. -

This DJ was used at a friend's wedding ~10 years ago and we were thrilled to see that he's still in business. We had to postpone our wedding once due to COVID restrictions and Michael from Puttin on the Hitz stayed with us through all the chaos of rescheduling. His communication with us was always proactive and timely and straightforward. He never had me worrying about what to expect. The tunes he played were FANTASTIC, and exactly what we wanted. He was also super flexible when I asked him at the last minute to do something extra (provide sound for the outdoor ceremony when our other sound system fell through). He was so flexible and provided us with everything we needed. He's so professional, fun, and entertaining. My mom even raved about how easily he could be understood when he announced the wedding party entrance! This guy knows how to DJ. HIGHLY recommend all around. -

Best DJ in the Des Moines Metro!!!
Michael Scott from Puttin' on the Hitz was such an amazing DJ for our wedding in West Des Moines. He was so easy to work with and make the night run seamlessly, he truly made the whole night run smoothly and followed our timeline helping to keep everything on schedule. He made the night so much fun by playing the perfect mix of music for our dance floor as well as providing some music during happy hour and dinner. Everything he did was exactly what we had hoped for for our wedding and the night wouldn't have been the same without him! I would recommend Puttin' on the Hitz to anyone, they were very responsive and great to work with! -

A Great Time
Michael was a blast to work with and our families had no problem interacting with him as well! He was welcoming, friendly, and very easy to approach at any time. He was on time and stayed a little later to help keep the party going. Much appreciated and, while we won’t be doing another wedding (hopefully ever again), we would highly recommend his service! -

Puttin on the Hitz was absolutely great, Michael Scott was our DJ and who I communicated through the entire planning, we originally had a June wedding but switching it to August due to COVID showed their great flexibility. Aside from communication/flexibility the services provided at the wedding were excellent and truly perfected my ideal wedding. -

Michael was amazing!
We couldn’t have been happier with Michael! We had a hiccup with our father/daughter dance being photographed and needed to do it again. Michael offered to pick a more up best song and was calm, cool and collected. We loved having him apart of our day! -

Awesome job by Michael & Puttin' on the Hitz!
Michael did an excellent job. The background music for arrival/dinner was at an appropriate volume for the venue. His ability to communicate with us regarding coordination and keep the night moving along was great. He did an awesome job keeping everyone engaged. Finally, Michael's personality and approach are something I have not seen much. You can definitely tell he enjoys putting on a party, dancing to the music, and having a good time. I highly recommend Puttin' on the Hitz and will have them in my back pocket for future events! -

Micheal from Puttin' on the Hits did an excellent job. He was very quick to respond. He did multiple phone calls before the event. He asked lots of questions to get to know us better! It's hard to put into words how thankful I am that we found such a wonderful DJ. I had searched for months before I found Puttin' on The Hitz. From the moment I sent an email inquiring about their services, Michael displayed the utmost level of professionalism I have ever experienced! His replies were quick, courteous and informative. I was so happy to have found such a great DJ! This was solidified as we continued to exchange emails and especially when I spoke to him on the phone a few days before our wedding. He took the time to go over what we had discussed in those emails in the previous months and he also verified that he had all the last minute details in order. He truly went above and beyond and that reassurance really helped me not to feel stressed.. He is the best! I was so excited for the day to get here!!
The moment our ceremony began, I knew our day was going to be amazing. He had the perfect music playing during the cocktail hour, too!! When we arrived and he announced us as husband and wife, it was so surreal. All those months of planning came to that very moment.. He made us feel so special and it's something I won't forget!
He really created such a great atmosphere and I emphasized how much I loved the all the songs he played. He really knows how to engage the crowd and was very gracious with requests from the attendees and they really enjoyed themselves! I can honestly say it really was the best day of my life!! I can't remember a time when I wasn't smiling :)
I will always look back and remember how absolutely wonderful this day was. If you are looking for a DJ.. he is the one!

Fantastic DJ
Michael was great to work with. He called us several weeks prior to our wedding date for an almost 45 minute call to discuss the details of our event and to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. His performance on “game day” was more than what we could’ve asked for. He played all the songs we requested and the songs he supplemented were well-selected. April 2019 Wedding
I had attended a few weddings where the DJ did not impress me and it stuck in my head as one of the major vendors I needed to meet before I even booked so I could get a feel for the person who would be DJing my wedding, so I reached out and we set up a meeting and almost immediately felt as ease with Michael and his company. At the end of the meeting, I told him exactly why I set up the meeting and he laughed at my honesty but I went home and booked his company. Now for the wedding, I had picked the couple of songs I knew I wanted and let him pick the rest for the "events," just told him the kind of music I wanted for each and he nailed it. I have a FUN group of family and friends and I'm pretty sure everyone walked out the door at the end of the night, dancing. He was very patient with me and my not so specific timeline and let me go with the flow and let him know when I wanted to do things the moment before and he was VERY accommodating and very professional when he addressed the guests, which I'm very appreciative of. He was great to work with and I would hire his company again! -

Excellent Wedding DJ
Michael was AMAZING to work with! He kept the party going and did an awesome job with song requests. On his website he offers song advice for each aspect of the wedding, which we found to be very helpful and a nice touch. About a week prior to the wedding, we had a phone call with Michael to discuss all logistics for the wedding day including song choices and timeline. Michael was so helpful and thorough during this process that my husband and I were fully able to relax and trust he was going to do a great job! We highly recommend Michael for your wedding DJ! -

We were so happy with their service leading up to the wedding and could not have asked for a better DJ during the wedding. We have had several guests tell us it was one of the best receptions that they have been to & the dance floor was packed all night long! -

Absolutely perfect!
The DJ (Josh Brooks) was amazing! We had a wide range of ages at our wedding (from 4 years old to 80 years old) and he navigated that perfectly! Despite MY total lack of preparedness for everything other than the ceremony/first dances songs, he played every song I could have thought to ask for! I had several family members come up to me that night or the next day and tell me that the DJ was awesome because not only did he make it easy for the guests to have fun, but he was so approachable and friendly! -

Professional and fun!
Michael Scott was the perfect combination of professional and fun! We had a pretty challenging list of Bosnian song requests, but he got to them all and also took requests from our guests! Very flexible as we changed our plans for music during the ceremony, very responsive to emails, and stayed a little over time as we wrapped up our party. Well done! -

We hired Puttin' on the Hitz for our daughters wedding in April 2009 and were very happy with the decision. He drove 4 hours to our location then worked for 5 hours giving us the best night ever! His fee was very reasonable and he was very personable. I've tried to hire him for 2 other events we planned, but he was booked, so I opted for no DJ. My motto now is "If it's not Puttin' then it's Nothin'".

Puttin' on the Hitz was a great company from the get-go to work with. After my sister's reception was ruined by a bad DJ, I was hesitant to hire a DJ for our wedding. We hired Puttin' on the Hitz based solely on the amazing ratings I found about them on this site. True to their rating, it was an amazing company to work with from the beginning. They always responded within a few days. The reception planning sheet on their website greatly helped both myself and the DJ when it came time to talk on the phone. Our DJ Ryan, called a week before the wedding and talked with me for almost an hour. He played exactly what we wanted and avoided what we didn't want. He was very professional the entire time and was flexible in working with us. The price compared to other DJ's in the area was very reasonable as well. I would recommend that any bride in the Central Iowa area hire Puttin' on the Hitz for their wedding. -

Our DJ Ryan was awesome! A lot of our guests were out on the dance floor, and he played a little bit of everything to keep everyone happy and dancing. He did such a great job we asked him to stay for an additional 30 minutes and it was no problem! -

Flexible & Amazing
Michael Scott with Puttin' on the Hitz was AMAZING to work with. 2 weeks before the wedding, we had a phone call meeting to plan out what we were expecting from him as a DJ and made plans on how the night would go. The night of the wedding, we changed just about everything that we had planned out and Michael was incredible and flexible through it all. So glad we chose them as the DJ for our special day! Great music, great communication, great company, and THE BEST NIGHT
Michael made our reception into one of the most fun nights of our lives. Our friends and family, young and old, all were dancing and signing along with the music. Keep the Party Going with Michael!
Michael from Puttin' on the Hitz was wonderful and we would recommend him to anyone! He did a great job keeping guests on the dance floor ALL night. Michael was also great to work with throughout the process from booking to going over details and the day of. We had a couple specific announcements (parking, dessert service, etc) that we asked him to make and he did so timely and thoughtfully to keep guests informed and having fun! In my opinion, who you choose for your DJ will set the tone of your reception and we would choose him again in a heartbeat! -

Great Service!
Michael was the best we could ask for. Simply put, he helped make our wedding something truly special and made sure we didn't have to worry about a thing. He bought into the atmosphere we were aiming for and really helped get our guests to that level where they just wanted to let loose and enjoy themselves.
