Fabulous Photographer

We used Laurie for our wedding and she was fabulous! She had great ideas for where to take pictures, took multiple poses in the same location and was super easy to work with. She was great with listening to us and asking for a photo list, went over the timeline of everything. We have so many awesome pictures to pick from and we are so happy with our choice of photographer!

Excellent wedding photographer!

Laurie was the photographer for my wedding in July and she did an incredible job. We absolutely loved our engagement photos and our wedding photos. At the wedding, she and the second photographer who worked with her, Maura, were hard at work the whole night and got pictures of everyone who attended our 200+ person wedding. Our pictures turned out absolutely gorgeous. Laurie was extremely helpful and professional to work with when discussing logistics leading up to the wedding and always responded promptly when we reached out with questions. She sent us multiple albums to look at of summer weddings at venues similar to ours and set up a consultation phone call when we were deciding on a photographer. Her pricing was also very reasonable compared with other wedding photographers in the area of similar quality. Highly, highly recommend!

2019 Tri-Association Conference

Laurie DeWitt provided comprehensive photo coverage of our conference, covering 4 days with over 1,300 attendees. I cannot say enough about her professionalism and responsiveness. The photos are just amazing, capturing the essence of the event interlaced with a personal, human touch. Laurie is a consummate professional and a real artist as well as a delight to work with.

Laurie was incredibly helpful and accommodating.

Our wedding photographer cancelled on us last minute but luckily we found Laurie because she was wonderful. She was incredibly thorough and helpful in the planning process. She made sure to accommodate all of what we wanted and the pictures turned out amazing. I would definitely recommend her for your wedding.

Laurie was amazing to work with! An engagement session was included in our wedding package. She was responsive to all of our questions and anticipated what we wanted for the important day! Laurie was the ultimate professional as she coordinated our must-have photos while using her creativity for fantastic shots! Laurie was one of the best choices we made.

Laurie did an amazing job photographing our October wedding. She has an eye for the creative, artsy and unique shots that we were looking for, as well as the candid moments. We have so many amazing photos from the day, but my favorite is this whimsical carousel shot of me appearing to day dream. If you are looking to capture your days from a unique perspective, seek out Laurie, she will not disappoint!

Laurie was wonderful! She's exceptionally easy to work with. She was like a ninja with a camera - capturing all the special moments and completely unobtrusive. And the pictures are fantastic!! It's going to be tough deciding which ones to put in an album. We will always treasure the photos she took of our wedding.

Photography was my number one concern throughout the wedding planning process (as you can't redo the day or recapture it after it's over!). My mother and I stumbled across Laurie's page and after flipping through some samples of her work, we knew she was the one for us! She was organized, helpful, creative, and answered any and all of our questions! She was so amazing at corralling everyone to get the shots we wanted and was able to do so in a quick fashion, something the bridal party was definitely thankful for! The photos turned out absolutely amazing and we have so many favorites to choose from! I recommend Pure Light Images to anyone and everyone, no matter the occasion.

After meeting Laurie for the first time, we knew that she was the one, and hiring her turned out to be one of the best decisions of our wedding. Laurie is personable, honest, direct, and very comfortable to be around. She was incredibly easy to work with and very responsive leading up to the wedding. There was never one moment where we regretted our decision, in fact, we constantly commented about how lucky we were to find her. We’ve been to many weddings in the area, but we have never seen a photographer work as hard as Laurie did on our wedding day. Many of our guests mentioned how dedicated she was to getting the perfect shot, and she was everywhere she needed to be for all the highlights of our wedding and reception without “getting in the way”. When we received our photos a month after the wedding we were blown away—the perfect mix of romantic pictures, party pictures, and artistic pictures. Laurie truly made us feel at home, and it truly made a difference in her photos. I can’t thank Laurie enough. She was absolutely a perfect match for us and we will be recommending her to everyone and anyone who is in the market for a photographer.

One thing to be mindful of when searching for your wedding photographer is that larger photography companies, with multiple photographers, may show you the work done by their best photographers, but may actually book a less experienced photographer whose work they didn’t show you. Laurie offered to meet with my husband and me for a consultation and we hired her that same day. I stayed in contact with her and about two weeks before the wedding we chatted on the phone and created a photography timeline of the wedding day. Laurie always made us feel at ease and the day of the wedding she even helped my bridesmaids put my wedding dress on me! She truly went above and beyond. She caught a lot of priceless moments from our wedding and wasn’t “in the way of” the festivities. A couple weeks after the wedding she sends you a link to see your wedding photos online (watermarked) and a jump drive with all your photos (not watermarked). Laurie is an accomplished wedding photojournalist of 18 years and you can definitely see it in her work. Mostly everyone who has seen the wedding photos tells me how “in the moment” and beautiful they look. Most importantly, her price is very comfortable and the quality of her images and her imagination for creating great shots demonstrates her exceptional photography skills. I highly recommend Laurie and look forward to hiring her for future events.

Laurie was very professional, she travelled to our wedding place and test different camera and lighting so that we could get get the best images. And we do! The images comes just 2 weeks after the wedding and looks fantastic! My mom was not at our wedding and she is so glad we have such a good photographer!

We cannot say enough great things about Laurie. She was amazing and tons of fun to work with. She was very accommodating when it came to our engagement photos, and she met us in Patapsco State Park. Laurie made us feel comfortable, and the overall experience was so much fun! Our wedding photos turned out absolutely amazing! We were referred to Laurie DeWitt by a friend who got married a few months before us. We got to see her in action at their wedding and saw the finished photo's as well. They were breath taking. We interviewed with several photographers and ultimately decided to book Laurie because she was more interested in us as couple and not just the "job". We used a different photographer for our wedding, and when we received the photos, we were disappointed in our family and couple shots, so decided to have a "do-over." Laurie was our second photographer and was amazing. She took the time to understand what we wanted, met us at an outdoor venue, got our kids to pose for photos, and produced amazing images. We later worked with her again to take some photos after having a baby, and hope to add more of her work to our collection in the future.

Laurie did an outstanding job photographing not only just only our wedding day but also with our engagement pictures, and I would certainly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer for a wedding, party, corporate event, or family shoot or anything for that matter. She was professional, responsive, punctual, fun and very easy going. One thing I loved the most about Laurie was that she’s very down to earth and honest. If she feels that you are going to be pressed for time and running all over, she will tell you and give you options. She managed to take many memorable pictures, and we are so pleased with our individual and group shots. Her prices were not only extremely reasonable but it more than meets her excellent quality. We received a CD of nearly 1000 plus images for an 8-hour shoot and access to a website with the photos posted where friends and family could browse and request copies. They were ready in about 1 month after the actual event and I literally had no complaints with them at all! They were phenomenal. I will continue to recommend her to friends and family for photography needs. She is AMAZING!!!

My daughter was married in December 2014 in Alexandria, VA. Being completely new to planning a wedding and not already knowing a good photographer, we were a bit nervous about how it would all turn out. After all, you only get married once! From the first meeting to the end of the reception, Laurie was amazing. Laurie was full of ideas and suggestions for us newbies as well as insisting on obtaining our limited thoughts on what was important. We felt completely at ease knowing that she knew what she was doing and would seek the best shot or angle the entire night. It was clear that she wanted to do the job well and cared that we had the best photos. Laurie's professionalism, eye for detail and creativity made every photo great. Laurie was great! She took TONS of great photos and has a great personality. She took so many photos that I never would have thought about - I swear she was busy from the second she showed up until she left. When I received my photos, I was like, wow, when did she do this, or that, or everything! She was everywhere. She scouted out all of the best places to take photos of the wedding party. I highly recommend Laurie.

Wedding photography: Outstanding communication and dialog pre-wedding. Excellent (and appropriate) high level of involvement during the wedding, even helping to fix a falling boutonniere! Posted photos for review within 24 hours (actually the night of the afternoon wedding!) So easy to work with for post-wedding questions about photo choices and production. Very creative photographer. I feel that Laurie is a top choice for wedding photography.

Laurie responded to an email I sent via Thumbtack when looking for a photographer for my daughter's wedding which was to take place in Gambril State Park, Md. We communicated mainly through email since I was in Florida. Laurie was in constant contact with my daughter and made sure her wedding was just as my daughter envisioned. The wedding was very small and intimate and the pictures were magnificent. Laurie did an awesome job, was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend her as she will capture your wedding beautifully.

Laurie shot our engagement photos this past weekend. I talked with her on a Sunday night and she was shooting our photos the next Sunday. I was so grateful she was able to accommodate us at the last minute and she was so nice about it! I expressed to her that I had been unhappy with some photos I had previously had done and I was very upset as I wanted my engagement photos to be something I could cherish for years to come and something I was excited and proud to show off. Laurie was great about emailing me and listening to what I wanted. She really captured the shots I was wanting for our Save the Dates! :) She was very quick to upload the photos so I could see them and very fairly priced. I would highly recommend Laurie and my fiance and I will be using her for family photos in the future!

It was an absolute pleasure spending 8 hours on my wedding day with Laurie. From the first time we spoke on the phone, I knew that we would get along. She is warm and friendly, yet also able to be direct (i.e. she had no problem telling the three police officers and dog owners to stop photo-bombing our pictures in the park!). Prior to the wedding, Laurie called to review logistics, finalize the shot list and make sure that everything was set. She showed up on time and quickly got to work taking the detail photos. During the formal shots, she was patient with my fiancé, who was not so thrilled to have his picture taken. She gracefully managed through our pre-ceremony photos which were interrupted when a large group of guests arrived 45 minutes early! Throughout the evening, she slipped into the crowd to take beautiful candid shots of our families and friends. If you are looking for a truly passionate, personable and skilled photographer, then I highly recommend Laurie.

Laurie was so easy to work with. The entire planning process was a breeze, right from our very first conversation on the phone. You could feel the knowledge and comfort level that comes from years of experience. On the wedding day, Laurie arrived promptly to start the day. During the reception, Laurie was very accommodating to any guests who wanted to take pictures with us, the bride and groom. She was very professional, polite, and quickly able to direct us into the positions needed to take the shots we had previously agreed upon. She also politely directed out of the way those who were in her way to take the best possible shots. The pictures that she took at the wedding were superb! All my friends and family were impressed with the quality, quantity, and beauty of every single picture. I received so many positive comments. I would definitely highly recommend Laurie to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

I had a Friday evening wedding at Seneca Lodge. Laurie arrived on time even though the location is known for being a heavy traffic area. My husband, family and friends loved the pictures. She even got great pictures of the kids who typically never seem to do what we ask in pictures. We were very happy with her work.

We are so glad we found Laurie! She did an amazing job capturing our vow renewal. She took so many lovely and fun pictures that we will cherish for a lifetime. Besides being a great photographer, she's also a super cool person. She is so easy to talk to, yet professional. She was superb!!!!! She was able to manage the time and take photos of everything during the whole day. It was a great experience working with a person like Laurie.

She is very professional and knows how lighting works and how to capture photos in a way that is artistic/journalistic/telling a story. The pictures were beautiful.

She is funny! and will make your day even more special and enjoyable! She understands how weddings/special events are so she knows what to do. Also, the price is reasonable!!! I looked everywhere for a photographer and she was the only one that was able to provide the quality I was looking for at a reasonable price!

Laurie was great from start to finish. She met with us in advance to prepare a timeline for the day in order to accommodate our schedules and preferences. She was extremely agreeable and played off our suggestions to produce some really awesome photographs. Laurie's photographs are unique in their composition because if you look closely, the people and things in the background can become as important as the main subject. Many of our guests commented after the wedding how actively involved she was the entire day. The website which the photos are posted to is also easy to use and very convenient for sharing with friends and family.

We just received notice that our pictures are ready for viewing and we are completely BLOWN away!! We barely remember most of the night but the pictures tell us the story. Laurie was amazing, so amazing that the pictures are BEAUTIFUL but we barely noticed that she was snapping away. We can''t wait to share our photos. Laurie was an amazing photographer for our wedding. I recommend Pure Light Images and her work highly. There are some things that really set her apart.

She really captured the personalities of the people at the event - and since we had a small cast of colorful characters present, and since a lot of the wedding was planned around the goal of having our friends together in one place, this really captured what was memorable and special to us about our wedding. I think a lot of even quite good wedding photographers achieve, and maybe even try for, generic pictures - the kind that look like just anyone in a portfolio or on a website and make people think, gosh, I could have been one of a hundred interchangeable people on the cover of Modern Bride! Laurie's work is more personal than that.

She also has a great sense of color and composition and tries interesting things with lighting - and isn't afraid to take some risks to achieve good results, which makes me happy because they often paid off for us.

Laurie also was an absolute steal; book her while her prices are low, ladies and gentlemen.

Finally, Laurie was disarming in an uncalculated way. I pretty much hate being "on the wrong side of the camera," most of the time, but I can deal with hamming it up when my sister points a lens at me, and I was similarly comfortable with Laurie shooting. This was helpful; I look a lot more confident than I typically do in photos in my wedding shots, and that will be a nice way to remember myself on that day.

Laurie photographed our wedding in June 2012 and spent about 8 hours with us that day. She took the time a few weeks before hand to discuss our vision with us and even made a separate trip to our church to plan out some spots on the grounds. We loved that her style did not have the typical static wedding photography look, and that she had more of a photojournalistic approach. From the candid shots of the bride and her girls getting ready and all the action the dance floor at the reception, to the cherished posed photographs with our families, Laurie was able to capture our day perfectly.

She is passionate about what she does and it shows through in every one of the 750+ photos she took that day. We would recommend her to anyone who wants a unique approach and an amazing vision from a photographer for any special event.

Laurie did such a wonderful job accommodating us on our wedding day. She knew all the right angles and approaches to take to get the perfect set of photographs. I had guests comment on how awesome she was because she lay on the ground to get group shots of people dancing. She was wonderful and I would definitely recommend her to anyone as well as plan to use her in our future!

Laurie is fantastic. I chose her as my wedding photographer because she had the highest Thumbtack reviews and, coincidentally, the best rate, and I'm so glad I did! Laurie is very experienced (9+ years as a photographer, I think), and it really comes across in the way she handles the camera. She clearly knows what she's doing. She's very personable AND professional at the same time. I especially appreciated how she got all the details ironed out well in advance so that everything ran smoothly the day-of: very calming for a bride-to-be. (My videographer, in contrast, hardly talked to me at all beforehand, and it showed in the final product.)

My wedding was in Georgetown, in Washington, DC. Laurie arrived early and got right to work. Totally in charge yet unobtrusive, she snapped exactly the kinds of photos I wanted. My husband really appreciated how she told us exactly what worked and what didn't, & where to place our hands, where to stand, etc - because, otherwise, how would we know until afterwards if something looked bad? (And by then it's too late!) She also has a really good understanding of light, which shows in the results. Even with the no flash rule in the chapel where we got married, the pictures turned out great.

I appreciate how Laurie gave me a CD of ALL 500+ high-res photos, plus a link to all those photos online, which I can share with anyone. The turn-around time for the CD, by the way, was only a week or two after the wedding. I've shared the photos with all my friends and family, and continue to get TONS of compliments on them. (People have even recommended that I send some into a wedding photo competition!) I also never tire of looking at them myself. I'd say Laurie was the wisest investment of the whole wedding.

Saying thank you isn't enough. Working with Laurie on our wedding day was Amazing. Laurie has a sight for capturing beautiful moments, even during a moment that seemed to zip on by. The poses and shots she wanted us to do were effortless and fun! She doesn't stick to the standard stuff and I wish she was with us longer. The outcome of the pictures are beautiful, it makes choosing so hard because she did a wonderful job and it shows in every picture. She is very comfortable to be around and so easy to do anything without feeling staged. Thank you Laurie for being part of our day and capturing all the lifetime moments, you are truly amazing!

Laurie from Pure Light Images was absolutely wonderful. She took our engagement photos as well as our wedding photos. She is extremely friendly, professional, and non-intrusive. And when we got the photos back, we were so amazed at the clarity of the photos and her attention to details. She obviously has an amazing eye for the colors, backgrounds, and poses that work the best in the photos. She was also great at accomodating our requests and explaining to us what would work well and what might not. She captured the essence of my husband's and my personality and the true color of our relationship in every photo. We were in an a very unique situation in which Laurie was a guest at our wedding in Florida. Laurie was pleasant and wonderful to be around. She sent us the pictures within a few weeks and they were fabulous! She took great shots during the evening and I would highly recommend using her for future events.

Our engagement pictures were taken by Pure Light Images and we couldn't have been happier with them. They were absolutely beautiful! The photographer listened to our suggestions and wishes, making us feel extremely confortable during the session. If we hadn't already booked our photographer for the wedding we would definately have hired Pure Light Images.

Laurie was an absolute pleasure to work with! She did our engagement/maternity photos and wedding photos.
