Amazing Food and Service!

From the very beginning, working with Pure Joy was wonderful! From our tasting all the way up to the wedding, they were very flexible and responsive. The food was absolutely delicious and I’m still thinking about their lemon artichokes appetizer! They were so good! Pure Joy also has a really cool experience called their backstage experience. This allows you to sign up to pick up a to-go tasting from an event they are catering. It’s a great way to taste even more of their options before making a final decision on what you want. Also, during the event itself, their entire staff was extremely helpful and friendly and overall a great group of people!

Excellent Santa Barbara Caterer

From the first meeting and private tasting to the event wrap up, Pure Joy was a pure joy to work with! The staff was professional, friendly and on top of every detail. The food and drinks were exactly as we envisioned and loved by our guests.

We chose a charcuterie station, seasonal grilled veggies, a pasta station, custom cocktails/mocktails and churros with dipping sauces passed by the girls via "cigar boxes" which were a guest favorite!

Everything was handled with precision and zero stress for me (the bride). I highly recommend!

Patrick and the entire Pure Joy Catering went above an beyond for our wedding!

I cannot thank the entire team of Pure Joy Catering for the awesome experience we had with them for our Wedding in October 2024. All of our guests loved the food that was offered. We did buffet style and had about 175 people there. Everyone said how efficient the dinner went and how wonderful the food tasted. From the presentation of our food to the planning of our wedding menu everything went so seamlessly. I would 100% recommend using Pure Joy catering for any event!

Pure Joy catered our wedding and we absolutely loved working with them. From a beautiful tasting in advance, to the night of our actual wedding, we couldn't have been happier with them. The food not only tastes incredible but the way they display it all is stunning - so beautiful! Their staff was wonderful throughout the entire night and we received tons of compliments from our guests with the food selection. Incredible food and service, great value

We used Pure Joy Catering for our wedding this past April and could not have been more satisfied with every aspect of their service. If you choose not to read anymore, I would just say that Pure Joy was a tremendous value, the food and service were incredible, and if you book them, you will not have to worry about a thing they are in control of that day. We had a number of quotes from various caterers in the area, I think Pure Joy was in about the middle pricewise but they are seriously an incredible value for what you pay.

Our wedding was in Santa Barbara and had approximately 120 guests. We worked with Patrick to help plan the menu and he was extremely helpful in picking dishes that worked with our theme and fit our taste. We started by doing a backstage tasting with Pure Joy where we went to one of their events and they set us up with a takeout box of all the items they were serving that night. We knew we were in good hands at that point because the food was incredible.

Our Menu: We had passed appetizers of crab cakes, chicken and waffles, and caprese skewers. The crab cakes were fantastic, my wife could not stop raving about them. The chicken and waffles were crispy and juicy and the caprese skewers were vibrant and acidic in a great way. We had plated salads of the farmers market veggie salad that had this delicious vinaigrette on it. For dinner, we had the Mediterranean halibut, juicy grilled chicken, market grilled veggies, fingerling potatoes, and fresh bread planks. I think I ate four full loaves of this bread, it was so good and served warm. I was shocked at how good all of this food was. It was legitimately restaurant quality food coming out for 120 people at the same time. The flavor of the halibut was a great balance of salt and acid. The chicken had a great grill char and was very juicy. Definitely get the market veggies, there was a great mix and they were cooked perfectly. Many of our guests came up to us to say how good they thought the food was. The amount they gave was crazy. The appetizers never ran out. We did family style and many of our guests ordered seconds and it was no problem.

The service: It is hard to top how good the food was but honestly, the service may have matched it. Patrick was our day of lead and he had absolutely everything covered including getting us items we forgot to provide the venue. All of his staff was so friendly and attentive. All of them did a fantastic job. They also left our venue clean at the end of the night.

I have no reservations recommending Pure Joy to anyone who wants to have a stress-free catering experience with a great team that cooks up some delicious food.

Great Experience

Pure Joy catered my wedding in July 2023 at the Carousel House in Santa Barbara. The experience from start to finish was incredible. Annie was very responsive with our email communications. She gave great input when we were menu planning and was very accommodating of our preferences. We had a tasting prior to our wedding and the food blew us away. They even surprised us with an off menu dessert which we loved so much we added it to our menu. I honestly still think about that dessert every now and then. The staff onsite were pleasant and our guests were happy with the food. I did notice service ran behind schedule during the reception but that did not change my impression overall. I am happy to recommend Pure Joy for anyone looking for a solid team!

Excellent experience for us!

Pure Joy catered both the rehearsal party and wedding dinner for our son and his bride. Patrick helped me plan the perfect cocktail menu for the rehearsal party, his years of experience were extremely helpful! Dane and Justin were two of the lead servers and they took excellent care of all our guests - such kind people. Overall, Pure Joy provided us delicious food that was displayed beautifully, and all planned within a fantastic level of organization and professionalism. I highly recommend Pure Joy to anyone!

Simply amazing service

I cannot speak more highly of Pure Joy. I worked with Patrick to do the catering for both my wedding and brunch the day after. All of the staff at Pure Joy were SO kind and friendly throughout the entire process. They helped me choose my meals, offered complimentary welcome drinks, etc. This is to say nothing of how amazing the food was. I am still hearing from my guests how much they enjoyed the food. Beyond that, the service during the events was INCREDIBLE. I planned our wedding from Georgia and the wedding was in Santa Barbara. Pure Joy took the stress of coordinating my rentals and everything. I could not have asked for any better!

One of a kind

We got married on 6/25/22 at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum and Pure Joy catered our wedding. From the initial calls, to the tasting and the big day, Pure Joy team was on top of every single detail. The food is absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. All of our guests raved about how delicious and unique each bite was from cocktail hour to dinner. Favorite wedding vendor!

We are so grateful to Pure Joy for catering our wedding. Of all the vendors we hired, Pure Joy was one of our favorites because they were so responsive, organized, and easy to work with. Our main contact at Pure Joy was Patrick, and if you work with him, you’ll be in excellent hands. We completely trusted him throughout the planning process and never once worried about the food situation at our wedding. Our wedding was somewhat logistically complicated, but we had complete faith in Pure Joy in building out the kitchen and taking care of everything they needed to feed our guests. All of the food was so delicious and we were also very impressed with the decor at all the food stations. We felt that Pure Joy went above and beyond for us, and we were blown away by their professionalism and level of experience. An absolute joy to work with!

We could not be more grateful that we were able to work with Patrick and the rest of the team at Pure Joy to cater our wedding. From the beginning, Patrick helped us take our ideas and turn them into a delicious menu for our guests. We appreciated that Pure Joy has a large body of dishes and menus to provide us with structure and suggestions when making our selections, but still provided us with the room to add our own ideas and personal touches. When we realized we needed to pivot our plans for a large wedding to a small, intimate backyard ceremony due to COVID-19, Pure Joy was with us every step of the way in modifying our menu to fit our new menu and guest count. They were flexible with their pricing and contract to align with our new needs. On the day of, they were able to provide our guests with food while following all safety regulations and guidelines. Pure Joy also coordinated our rentals through Bright and having their support and expertise in making sure we had all of the styling elements to make our wedding look beautiful was so appreciated. On top of all of the support leading up to the wedding, the food itself was delicious!

Unbelievable! Patrick was so incredibly helpful from the very moment we started planning. He's a true professional and knows just about everything that goes into hosting the best weddings in Santa Barbara. His team made our reception absolutely beautiful - from the appetizer stations, to the food displays, and bar. And they coordinated it perfectly - there was never a moment in which anyone was left wanting. Maybe they were just being nice, but all our guests GUSHED over the food and desserts. More than a caterer...

Megan was amazing!! As a Planner and Coordinator I’m not only looking for great food, quality and value, but also responsiveness, professionalism and a team attitude... Meghan goes above and beyond let me tell you! She was more familiar with this particular venue than I, having worked there many times before, and rather than making me figure things out on my own, she stepped in and collaborated with me on the layout and floor plan, where things would make the most sense, the rental order and timing. The food, much like our experience behind the scenes, was absolutely amazing. She was a dream, we can’t wait to work with PureJoy and Meghan again, and neither should you.

With Pure Joy, our day was a joy...the stress of doing, managing was delegated to them

My fiancé and I interviewed several caterers searching for a firm to help us with our reception at a local museum without an onsite kitchen within 9 months. From our first meeting, Megan at Pure Joy was so easy to relate to, knowledgable and thoughtful; I really did not want to work with anyone else.

Together, over a series of meetings--we crafted a menu and event plan that reflected our personal style and taste; sampling many of the dishes in "backstage tastings." Throughout the planning process, Megan was able to help us resolve questions, coordinate details, refer us to vendors to provide pipe & drape/lighting and even rentals for our ceremony site. The planning process was so through, she was able to help us truly plan out every detail for maximum enjoyment.

On the day of the event, our event supervisor Ellen and staff were flawless and attentive. Like magic, the museum was transformed into a reception hall while guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers on the patio. Servers were friendly, skillful and attentive. Ellen was able to flex with us, when our ceremony ran later than expected to maintain our event plan without a hitch. Guests raved, about the food, drinks, atmosphere and service. "This is the best wedding I've ever been to ..." was a comment we heard consistently that evening and beyond.

Pure Joy; Megan, Ellen and the event staff helped make our wedding a pure joy for my husband and I. If we were to do it again, we would hire them again without a question.

Perfection by Patrick & Pure Joy

We are so happy we chose Pure Joy as our caterers for our wedding on 8/3/19. We worked closely with Patrick throughout the planning process. Absolutely the best

My mom had used Pure Joy catering for an event before, and - when it came to our wedding - she made sure we went with them again! We started with communicating with Patrick, who was the most attentive and helpful catering coordinator! It was an easy process of looking at food options, requesting estimates for pricing, changing options up, as well as their help in booking rentals (we used Bright rentals). Their office is easy to get to and very welcoming. We were unable to do an official tasting, but we did some Backstage Tastings from other events and devoured every bite of the food! That was all what happened BEFORE the wedding! My husband and I had 100% confidence in the food for the wedding (including the help to decide how much and which alcohols to purchase for the full bar). The final meeting before the wedding included a reassurance that my husband and I (and our bridal/grooms parties) would be fed the delicious passed appetizers and food. The day of the wedding, during cocktail hour, we were served the delicious coconut shrimp with mango chutney, mini hamburger sliders, and artichoke bottoms. To die for! Then, we had buffet style for our dinner, and we were served a little taste of everything at our head table prior to the other tables being dismissed to serve themselves. It allowed us to eat our meal and enjoy each morsel that we'd chosen! We had a delicious gorgonzola/walnut salad, macaroni and cheese with gruyere cheese, roasted farmers market veggies, chicken provencal, chimichurri flank steak, and salmon with sun dried tomatoes. Every bite was heaven! Pure Joy makes the event seamless, and I couldn't have been more pleased. We absolutely recommend!

A Pure Joy!

Pure Joy was a joy to work with! They really listened to what we wanted and the food was sooooo delicious. All fresh and amazing. We had the raw bar which I highly recommend and a few food stations with paella, tacos and ravioli along with amazing veggies. I got sooo many compliments on how good the food was! They were very much willing to work with us and listen to what our vision was and to make sure we got what we wanted while still working with us on the budget. They were very professional and easy to work with. I definitely recommend!

I had such amazing experience with PURE JOY CATERING and especially Megan! I swear our wedding would have not happen without her! I am busy veterinarian that decided to plan a last-minute destination wedding. Megan was extremely understanding of my schedule and worked with me and my mother! Best choice for catering in SB

Pure Joy went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly with our wedding. First off, they got the big things right. The food was excellent, service setup everything on-time and were polite/pleasant with guests, you know, the things you expect you're paying for. BUT then they got all the little things right as well. The things you don't think about. For example, I was finishing with my photos and getting my dress bustled away from the main reception, the servers came over and brought some of our appetizers to make sure that I ate something and that I got to try all the food we chose. Also the servers came over at dinner and served me and my husband dinner (from the buffet), that way if guests came up to chat (which they did) I wouldn't get too distracted and spill something on my dress or forget to grab something from the buffet.

Everything was completed in a professional and courteous manner. They made the whole process super easy and were even able to provide guidance regarding items not related to catering. Plus the food was DELICIOUS. I had so many guests comment on how good the food was. We definitely made the right choice with Pure Joy.

A dream come true

If you’re thinking about using pure joy catering don’t think just do!!!! They’re absolutely amazing. Every person that we dealt with was so accommodating. Pure Joy catered our wedding at my grandparents' house in Santa Barbara. We worked with Patrick, and he and his team were immensely helpful in working with us to make our intimate wedding fit our budget while still being a beautiful and memorable event. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Pure Joy Catering. From the moment I met Ellen I knew I was in great hands. She was absolutely incredible listening to each and every detail that I wanted and helped us figure out what was truly important and what wasn't important to us. The wedding day was absolutely flawless, it was just gorgeous! The welcome beverage table looked so pretty, the appetizer and food Buffett table displays were just beautiful designed exactly the way I wanted. And most important the food was to die for - it was absolutely FANTASTIC! I had so many of my guest come up to me and ask who the caterer was because the food was so amazing! My mother in law used Pure joy for our rehearsal dinner and they were absolutely phenomenal. Adam was the perfect matre d. He was attentive, but inconspicuous. All of the staff was so nice and helpful. They did a beautiful job with the food and it was so creatively displayed. I highly recommend the avocado bar. Thank you again Pure Joy! The food is absolutely fabulous! Everyone raved about the freshness of the salad and the tri tip cooked fresh on site. Ellen was totally patient and flexible from the first days of planning right though to the end of the wedding day. This was my third child's wedding, and by far the best!

It has been a little over a week since we got married and we’re on cloud 9 living in wedding bliss. We chose Pure Joy Catering to cater our wedding and it was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The execution was absolutely flawless, the food was fresh and delicious and they really were Pure Joy. They took the hassle out of planning by managing our rentals and insuring we had everything we needed and provided the most amazing service around. They were quick to respond to any question I had and worked with me to create my dream wedding. I highly recommend them if you want your wedding or event to go off without a hitch. There’s a reason their office walls are full of thank you notes and awards – they’re simply the best in town. And it doesn’t hurt that they cooked the best darn wedding food I’ve ever had! We could not have been happier with the catering Pure Joy provided. From the very beginning they were very accommodating allowing us to personalize our menu. We had a dream of serving Thai Food at our wedding and they made it possible. Everyone was raving about the food! Also, my Husband really wanted to serve a smokes whiskey drink and Pure Joy bought a special smoker for our event, they were smoking the whiskey right there at our wedding and our guests where in awe! Everything was beyond perfect and we can't thank enough for all their hard work!!

I cannot thank the staff at Pure Joy enough for the wonderful job they did catering my daughter Emily's wedding. From the first tasting in Santa Barbara to the last drink served at the end of the night, the service was elegant, responsive, and professional. And the food! All of our guests said that the food was the best tasting menu they had ever eaten at a wedding. Thank you Pure Joy and Ellen Reid!

We wanted to create a completely different style of wedding- an outdoor rustic dinner party wedding at Elings Park followed by an amazing indoor neon and pink velvet afterparty at the Maritime Museum. Pure Joy nailed both of our back-to-back events. They captured everything we had in mind and executed every detail to perfection. Needless to say, I had to extend their services by about an hour last minute because everyone was having such a good time and no one was leaving (definition of a successful wedding). The party lasted through almost 5 AM at my house afterwards. We worked with Patrick Ward and Kacey House. They were flawless. Patrick oversaw our event, while Kacey was our day-off coordinator. She is simply the best- I highly recommend asking for her when working with the PJ team. The food was so good I only wish I could have eaten more of it and the services were impeccable. All of guest commented on how good the food was. Our event supervisors were Adam (for the dinner party) and Mike (for the evening After party) and they were superb - they paid close attention to all detail. If you are planning a wedding in Santa Barbara, please just go with the best team in town and avoid hassles, you will be stressed enough as it is.

LOOK NO FURTHER!! Pure Joy is pure joy!! Ellen Reid is the bomb dot com! I'm from SB but live in NorCal, so planning my own wedding from afar was not easy, to say the least. Ellen made me feel completely at ease with her competency and attention to detail. Pure Joy walks you through each decision and handles so many aspects of a wedding, I had no idea! Practically a one stop shop! Linens, dinnerware, center pieces, dance floor, chair and table rentals, cake cutting, figuring out the timeline and of course the FOOD!!! Our guests LOVED the food. Not only do they set up an entire kitchen on site but they go to the Farmers Market for all the necessities! They create divinely exquisite dishes that literally melt in your mouth. They truly provide a one-of-a-kind experience! Isn't that what every bride wants!? Worth every single cent!!! AND on the day of your wedding they are there ensuring every detail falls into place. I cannot rave enough about how joyful they made our most special day. We are forever grateful for the entire personnel team and their service. Endless thank yous from The Jackmons!!!!

truly a PURE JOY to work with. Ellen was our planner for our wedding and truly went above and beyond. She talked us through everything and really took into account our needs and wants for our wedding meal. Our guests were raving because it was truly delicious. I appreciate how she made sure myself and husband always had appetizers, a drink in hand, and made sure we actually ate. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation. They make wedding planning a breeze and worth EVERY penny.

We LOVED Pure Joy!!! We are total foodies, so our wedding food was one of the most important things to us when planning our wedding. Pure Joy was great to work with from the very beginning – we had an amazing tasting and there were so many delicious options to choose from. The food is very high quality, very fresh, local, and absolutely delicious! Patrick Ward helped with our wedding and did a fabulous job. Instead of a sit down dinner, we did a number of tray-passed appetizers and then some really fun food stations, including a chef-manned bruschetta station, the international cheese, charcuterie, and antipasto station, the raw bar, and the chef-manned seared ahi tuna loin station – all of them were beautifully set up, very fun for our guests, and the food was SO good!!! For dessert, we chose the crème brulee station, which was a hit! It was also so helpful that Pure Joy coordinated all of the rentals. We loved working with them and highly recommend them!!

The staff at Pure Joy are professional, responsive and very friendly. Ellen was so helpful to coordinate with from across the country--not an easy task. The food, presentation and service at our daughter's wedding was impeccable! We received so many compliments on both from our guests. Best of all, our daughter said it was the best day of her life and PureJoy was a large part of the reason. It can't get any better than that! I highly recommend PureJoy for any catered event!!!

Pure Joy was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! PJ was my top choice from day one, but was slightly over our budget.. we ultimately chose to work w/ them after another (cheaper) local caterer dropped the ball when it came time to setup a contract. And the bottom line with wedding vendors, you get what you pay for! All of my communication with Ellen was incredibly quick and helpful, she answered my million questions without missing a beat, and was incredibly helpful in helping me find ways to cut costs. The invoicing is straightforward too. Just think about your rental budget before you book. If your venue doesn't offer much, your budget will shoot up very quickly!

The service and food on-site were PHENOMENAL! We had the salmon and tri tip, and I swear it was the best tri tip of my life. I am a huge foodie, and I'm telling you, it's a MUST! Go with the Madeira peppercorn sauce on the side... We also had garlic mash, grilled veggies, heirloom tomato salad, and the bountiful cheese tables for cocktail hour. Our guests all absolutely raved about the food!!!

The staff were great, the service was stelkar, and the presentation was beautiful. They even had guests greeted at the start of cocktail hour with trays of drinks to choose from, which everyone loved! I would also highly recommend going with sangria if you can. That was a last minute decision for us, and it was a huge hit!

In summary, I absolutely recommend Pure Joy to any bride! While other caterers will have lower quotes, you get a ton of bang for your buck, and you will not get the same quality or service elsewhere. You'll be grateful you choose them once your big day arrives! :)

I really enjoyed working with Pure Joy! Everybody at Pure Joy is friendly and easy to work with. We had a pretty limited budget and they were really good about working with our budget and being very transparent with us. They coordinated our rentals as well as being our caterer and they did a great job! The food was AWESOME and everyone at our wedding commented on how good the food was! We served our food family style and Pure Joy pulled it off perfectly. They were a joy to work with from beginning to end and I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Now that the post wedding recovery and our mini-honeymoon is over and we are slowly getting back to our day-to-day married routine, we wanted to thank Pure Joy from the bottom of our hearts for such a beautiful and flawless event they have put together! Everything, from set up and decor to the quality and efficiency of service was executed absolutely perfect! I now see why they are the best in business in SB area!

We continue to receive feedback from our guests on how DELICIOUS the food was - some said it was the best food they've tried at a wedding! They can work with any budget without compromising the quality of food and service, which I found very helpful!

Pure Joy is AMAZING!! I got married in Santa Barbara about a week ago, and Pure Joy catered our welcome dinner, and also our wedding. Since we were doing a destination wedding (we live in NYC), I was doing a reference call for our coordinator (Sophie Spier of Amazing Days Events, who is awesome!) with another NYC bride who had worked with her, and this bride shared that the best vendor that she had worked with was Pure Joy, and so I went for it!

I worked with Patrick and Alizabeth and was so impressed by their professionalism and also CREATIVITY!! They came up with such fun ideas for both events, and were incredibly flexible when it came to theme, budget, etc. Patrick was our project manager, and handled our rentals and some design for us as well, and he was so on top of everything, and made great recommendations to help us stay on-theme, and probably most importantly, diplomatically keep us from running off a cliff with some of our less than ideal ideas :)

Most importantly, the FOOD. WOW!!! That's all I can say! I know it was my own wedding, so maybe I'm biased, but I truly believe that I've never eaten better food at a large event :) There were definitely lots of foodies in the house - all of our guests were going crazy over the food, and the presentation for everything was gorgeous. We had a fabulous day, and believe that Pure Joy was such an important part of our overall wedding experience (both pre- and during), and we can't thank you enough!!

Pure Joy came highly recommended through our wedding planner as well as our venue and we are SO glad they were!

From our first tasting, we felt that Pure Joy was truly invested in our wedding. They created such an intimate setting for us to taste a variety of their foods and it was such a great experience!

We just got home from our wedding weekend & the first thing I wanted to do was write this review because Pure Joy made our wedding UNBELIEVABLE!

The entire process was a joy from the initial meeting to all the tweaking along the way. We were on a tight budget & didn't know if we could afford it but the food was so amazing we just had to find a way. Patrick is OUTSTANDING! He really listened to us. He helped us splurge where we wanted to and save a little where it wouldn’t be so noticeable. We are foodies and I sat next to my best friend at our table (who is not a foodie) & she couldn’t stop telling me how delicious the food was as she delightfully cleaned her plate :) That brought me so much joy to watch her happiness eating. Many guests came up to tell me how exceptional the food was which just added to the specialness of the evening. I love good food and I enjoy sharing good food with others. My sister cannot stop talking about how incredible the food was. My top two items with the wedding were a gorgeous, outdoor venue (thank you Firestone) and scrumptious food. Thank you Pure Joy for enabling us to have our dream wedding. Although you are in trouble now because you may have ruined salmon for me, I don’t think anyone can make it taste as amazing as Chef Jerry's oven roasted salmon with sun dried tomato & pine nut crust with lemon gremolata. That is an explosion of deliciousness in your mouth.

On top of the food being amazing, the people were fantastic. My wedding planner, Janelle, told me the following day that at the wedding she’d say to Patrick we need to do such & such & Patrick would always answer, “Already done.” A top notch operation. I had no idea how much prep, organization, & coordination was involved in putting on an event & Pure Joy made it seamless. I wish I could do it all over again. May I be so lucky as to be invited to an event that Pure Joy is catering. Pure Joy is a stellar company from start to finish.

Pure Joy catered my son's BBQ rehearsal dinner at the beautiful courtyard at the Unitarian Society in Santa Barbara. The menu prepared and served by Pure Joy was absolutely delicious and it continues to receive rave reviews from all 90 of our guests. Planning a CA event from the east coast was no easy task, but with the help of these professionals it was a piece of cake! Pure Joy catered our wedding which was held in Santa Barbara, CA on January 13, 2015. We couldn't have been happier with what they provided....from amazing food, to the rentals, to decorations, and wonderful service. We had two planning meetings and a number of emails back and forth prior to our wedding to make sure that all the details were in place...and they were amazing. Pure Joy made our wedding day even more special than we imagined it would be. The attention to detail of Ellen and her team was impeccable. They set everything up at the ceremony site, cocktail hour, and dinner exactly how I envisioned it to be, and the service by the staff was second to none. There are so many companies cutting corners nowadays to save money, but Pure Joy was nothing less than top notch in their presentation. We still have rave reviews from our guests about the quality of the food. To top it all off, we received a gift from them for our wedding day. That's unheard of! Hands down the BEST catering company in Santa Barbara. Seriously, there is no reason to try anyone else. The food at my wedding was incredible. Better than anything I've had at any other wedding—and many of my guests said the same thing. Dennis was our event manager and I love love love him. I was a pretty demanding/detail-oriented bride and he was not only patient with my endless questions, but he made sure everything met my high expectations on the day of. Dennis at Pure Joy was truly "pure joy" to work with. From the time my daughter (the bride) and I first met with him, we were confident that it would be wonderful. He handles so much more than just the food (which is amazing by the way! A real treat for "foodies" like us and our guests). He knows exactly what is needed for rentals, alcohol etc. and gave us great suggestions along the way. We had so much trust and faith in him that we know if any last minute changes had to be made it would still be perfect. Living a few hundred miles away, this could have been stressful, but he made planning so much fun. We were more excited every time we communicated with him. The wedding was more perfect than we ever imagined and we were just sorry that our time working with Dennis was over! We're going to try to come up with another event in the future just so we can work with Dennis and Pure Joy again!

The Pure Joy team was absolutely wonderful to work with! We worked most closely with Patrick, and he was extraordinarily responsive, professional, and organized throughout the entire wedding/meal planning process. Our guests could not stop raving about the food, and we got so many compliments on the service style we ended up choosing (family style is AWESOME...do it!). Guests were presented with a watermelon, goat cheese, and arugula plated salad (the most refreshing salad and perfect for a hot summer day!), and then were able pass around gorgeous platters of portobella mushroom raviolli, tri-tip with peppercorn sauce, grilled salmon with sun dried tomato and pine nut crust (my personal favorite), and grilled vegetables. It was so nice to let guests try all of the delicious options. Everything was wonderful -- so happy with our decision to work with Pure Joy! Thank you Patrick :)

I can't say enough good things about Pure Joy Catering, and specifically Dennis. I got married last weekend at an outdoor venue in Carpinteria. I live down in SD so had to take some trips up to make decisions. Dennis was a dream to work with from the start. His enthusiasm for unique and tasty food rubbed off on us instantly. His eye for food and presentation sets him apart from any other caterer. We had mini hamburgers, mini fish tacos and mini patron bottle margaritas at our cocktail hour--- and have not stopped getting comments from our guests about how amazing it all was! We had some passed treats as well. The dinner was beyond amazing. The courses were presented beautifully and didn't have long lulls between them. Pure Joy was just that, pure joy to work with. They worked with our budget really well also. I would recommend them for ANY of your upcoming events!

Best decision we made. Pure Joy was awesome! Our guests at our daughters wedding were going out of their way to tell us how delicious the food was. We chose to serve the shakes and buns ( little burgers with all the trimmings and mini milk shakes ) coconut shrimp, ceviche in a shot glass, and the quesadillas with caramelized onions. Dinner was chicken provencal, tritip with peppercorn sauce, garlic mashed potato, truffled mac&cheese, kale salad, and a watermelon, arugula and goat cheese salad. AMAZING! We were craving more food of it the next day.
In addition, the staff was excellent, accommodating friendly and very professional. They hired the bartender for us as well. He was so fun and made great cocktails the whole night. We will use this catering company again any opportunity we get.

Pure Joy Catering provided the food, drinks and specialty cocktails for our wedding two weeks ago, and everything was delicious and beautifully presented! Our family and friends have been raving about the tasty food ever since...

Alizabeth was our event planner, and she was patient and communicative over the months preceding the wedding. She initially offered three sample menus based on various budgets, invited us to attend an open house and taste some of Pure Joy's food, and arranged a "back door tasting" at another wedding so we could try the cupcakes we were planning to serve. She also surveyed the cocktail/ceremony and reception sites and gave us helpful advice about arranging everything.

The event set-up went smoothly, despite glitches on the venue side (venue availability time pushed back an hour, wrong table size quoted by venue, no high chairs when four had been promised). But Alizabeth and her colleagues were calm, creative and flexible, and they made it work. They also dealt with multiple dietary needs, and were able to double-check ingredients and offer guests guidance about what was vegetarian, gluten-free and soy-free.

We did end up spending more than we expected on catering, but everyone went above and beyond to make it as seamless a process as possible, and that was really helpful. I highly recommend Pure Joy for your wedding catering needs!

Lynette and her team at Pure Joy Patrick, Ellen, Mike and the rest all great people. This place did such an amazing job from the time we started planning our wedding, to the day of our wedding. They accommodated us in every which way we needed it, they were flexible and reasonable with things from our food to our set up, and exactly how we wanted our day. I could not believe how gorgeous everything looked for our reception, the colors were perfect, the extra decorations. Pure Joy I could not have asked for a better day, all our guests talked about and us, was how great the food was and fresh. You guys all worked so hard to make everything so great and awesome for us. Your all so great and I would always go to you if I needed something catered. If you are planning a wedding or anything this is the place to use, they are honest and like a family, they don't try to get you for every penny like most places. They work with you to make your day special, and do a really great job. So if your planning anything or your wedding in Santa Barbara I am sure you have heard great things of this place, and its all true. So use them. Thank you Pure Joy!! Great people :)

Best food, service, & attention to detail!!!! Soooo happy we chose Pure Joy....we planned every detail with Alizabeth...and Patrick and Dennis followed through with the final planning stages (Alizabeth had a little girl week before wedding) and execution. The food was to die for! The set up was gorgeous, and every request was fully attended to. We relied heavily on their recommendations and they did not disappoint! What we also highly valued was their working relationships with Firestone, Passion Flowers, and our month-out wedding coordinator Kerry. Like a syncopated swim event...flawless. Bring some tupperware and let them pack you leftovers b/c u won't have a second to really eat at your wedding...but both families enjoyed it all the night after!!

We are so happy with our food, center pieces, and professional staff! Everyone told us how delicious our appetizers, taco buffet, and cupcakes were and I agree! We had the best wedding food. Seriously. Our guests were greeted with Margaritas and Sangria along incredible appetizers. The layout of the reception and cocktail hour was beautiful, our coordinator helped us choose harvest tables and linens that complimented our overall design. Dinner was Santa Rosa tritip and Chicken roulade and our guests raved that it was the best wedding food they have tasted. The Pure Joy team did an excellent job.

Pure Joy is the best catering company in Santa Barbara! The food is top notch, all fresh ingredients made from scratch instead of bought from Costco like most hotels. Everything was as delicious if it would be if you ordered a single plate, which is nearly impossible when serving 150 people! Somehow, Pure Joy pulls it off!

Aside from the incredible food and specialty cocktails they made, the planning process was a breeze thanks to Patrick. No matter how difficult we were, or how many times we changed things, Patrick never complained or showed any sign of annoyance. Not only was he responsive, but he was also extremely helpful in offering advice and answering each of the 1000 questions we asked him for months and months! This alone makes you, as a bride, feel comfortable and safe with your catering company before the food is even involved.

I would recommend Pure Joy to anyone, for any type of event. Their menu is so fun and diverse, plus if you don't see it on the menu, they have no problem creating something specifically for you. Pure Joy makes you feel like your catered event is special, and not just another Saturday wedding where they serve one of three menu variations, as some other venues we looked at do. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints about Pure Joy. Oh- and our guests are still talking about the Paella- delicious!!!

Pure Joy is seriously the best place for catering. The food is amazing. I have been to plenty of weddings and they all taste dull, old and even stale. Not Pure Joy. Their food is fresh and so yummy. I have gotten so many compliments for the food at my wedding. People seriously ate everything. They are so helpful too and make your wedding stress free. They are worth every penny.

Pure joy was amazing! The entire planning process was flawless. Patrick was our personal event planner and he was so on top of it, he responded to all my emails almost immediately, he was detailed and organized and professional. They're food tasting process is so different in a good way, you really get to taste what the food they prepare at an actual wedding is like. The wedding day was flawless, they even take into consideration your decor and wedding "style" to match the decor on the their part. The entire staff was so professional and helpful, to the point that we felt like guests at our own wedding. Every detail was taken care of. Besides all of these amazing details, which many caterers would not even consider as something they would do, the food was incredible! Everyone was raving about the food which was so special to hear. Pure Joy Catering really does do FULL SERVICE events, they go above and beyond preparing food. I would recommend Pure Joy to anyone, even if you have a tight budget, they will do their absolute best to work with you.

We had visited a couple catering companies before Pure Joy, but as soon as we went to their first tasting and got a feel for the company we never looked back! It was Pure Joy or nothing! I would not have had it any other way! From the very beginning Pure Joy was professional, warm, compassionate, understanding and really "got" our vision for the wedding and made our dreams come to life! We had a beachy/rustic wedding and wanted the theme of our dinner to be "comfort food classics". Working with Alizabeth Schotten was such a pleasure! She had great recommendations and suggestions and was very attentive to our needs/wants/vision from the very first meeting. You always picture your dream day in your head but never really know how it will turn out. I must say I was blown away with everything at our reception! Pure Joy went above and beyond any expectations we had! The food was absolutely incredible and guests STILL are raving about how they have never had that good of a meal at a wedding. We had chefs on-site cooking pulled pork, slicing tri-tip, and whipping up fresh batches of french fries, onion rings and ma n' cheese. Incredible! We finished off the night with a coffee and cupcake station....again more fabulousness! Pure Joy made our wedding such a stress-free, enjoyable, perfect day for us and we will never ever forget the memories we made that day! We didn't have to worry about a thing and truly, honestly got to sit back and enjoy every second of our wedding day- what its all about!! ;-)
Anyone who has the privilege of working with Pure Joy will not be disappointed. You will be impressed from the start with the staff, the chefs and most importantly the amazing fresh food!!

If you are planning a wedding in Santa Barbara, you need to book Pure Joy. Now. We can't imagine a better catering service. From the very beginning planning stages, they helped us with everything (special thanks to Alizabeth). They knew our venue (HeartStone Ranch) and they had relationships with all of our other vendors. We went to a couple "back door tastings" that were really cool and allowed us to sample all kinds of delicious food. Our wedding was perfect, and they played a big role. Our guests raved about the food and the service. They were able to manage a huge event and still make it feel personal and special for everyone.

Now on to more specific recommendations. Our specialty cocktail was watermelon mojitos. Everyone loved them. Perfect for an outdoor setting. The portobello mushroom raviolis are amazing as a vegetarian option. We set up a ceviche station which was a big hit. We wanted casual apps, so we went with mini burgers and mac and cheese. All amazing. And definitely go with the s'mores station for dessert. Huge hit.

Pure Joy Catering was wonderful to work with. The staff was friendly, the food was great (make sure to include the Mexican coffee bar for your event), and they were extremely prompt and organized in setting up and breaking down our event. Our wedding was held at the ElCapitan State Park on the beach and Pure Joy was able to coordinate and provide us with every detail needed to make our event beautiful and special for us and our guests. I would highly recommend them for any event!

The food was one of the most important thing we cared about for the wedding. I am a self-professed foodie and Pure Joy really blew away my expectations. We got 3 passed appetizers (huge fan favorite was the bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp, and the shrimp was big/meaty too). The dishes were impeccably prepared. Another huge hit was the berry shortcake station, it was absolutely delicious and devoured. The staff were all responsive and attentive to the guests as well as to me and my now-husband. They also took a lot of care in the decor, making everything look beautiful.

We so enjoyed working with Pure Joy. We got to taste everything that we wanted to put on our reception menu, they handled all the rentals, and -- most important as we neared the big day -- answered all of my last minute questions via phone and email right away. Our experience with Pure Joy Catering was out of this world! Our event supervisor, Alizabeth, was a joy to work with as she was incredibly helpful in planning our menu (passed appetizers and appetizer stations). She made wonderful food suggestions which were highlights of the occasion. (Ask about their “Sweet and Cheesy Kiss Goodbye” - blueberry cheesecake served in a cute Mason jar!) Our guests are still complimenting us on the exquisite food and excellent service provided by Pure Joy. Alizabeth and I communicated through email and she always responded promptly with an answer or solution. Alizabeth (and her crew) showed up early on the event day and turned our home into a showplace to delight our guests and us. We almost want to get married again just so we can re-live the Pure Joy experience!

The raves from our family and friends just keep coming! The food was great, and Patrick and his team were wonderful...The sea bass and filet on Friday night, along with the salads and side dishes (potato au gratin - wow), was fabulous...and not to be out done, the Santa Barbara style BBQ on Saturday night was brilliant...the watermelon salad gets 5 stars for being both inventive and incredibly refreshing. Our "wedding cocktail" of Blood Orange Margaritas was smashing (no pun intended)...

While we did our own planning, Patrick was there every step of the way to make sure that over the weekend things ran smoothly and that all of our guests's needs were met.

Thank you Pure Joy for making it a most spectacular occasion!

Pure Joy did an amazing job at our wedding! I cannot thank them enough. Alizabeth, our event planner, did a wonderful job communicating with us throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding. We loved working with her. She provided helpful advice for the day to make sure that the event went as smoothly as possible for all of us. I can't think of even one tiny complaint. The staff was friendly, professional, and efficient. The room looked beautiful. Our guests went on and on about how delicious the food was.

We first contacted Pure Joy last Sept for our daughter's June wedding. From the very first visit they have not only guided us through the entire wedding process, but assisted in personalizing a menu. Our planner Alizabeth was very responsive to every question we had through the months. We always got an immediate response. She was an invaluable resource in assisting us with connecting us with other vendors. Every one of her suggestions was a huge!!! success.
The food was fabulous! Fresh, delicious, and gorgeous. During cocktail hour I overheard guests raving about the spread everywhere I turned. We heard from everyone that attended that this was the best wedding they had ever attended. The wait staff was very professional, discrete and fast. There was no waiting around for food. It was always present. All of our guests felt like kings.
Pure Joy catering took care of every detail. All we did was select food from their very large menu and they made all of our daughter's dreams come true.

Pure Joy has so many fantastic reviews that I almost feel silly reiterating what has already been said, but I want to put my two cents in. I cannot imagine my wedding without Pure Joy. Right from the beginning when we were picking a caterer Pure Joy won us over with their amazing food and attentive service. We tried two caterers in the same weekend and I can not believe the difference. Pure Joy changed our minds as to which venue we wanted because the other venue required us use a certain caterer, but after trying Pure Joy we switched venues. Through the whole process they were amazing. I was a bit of a slacker in finalizing the catering details and they made it now problem. I worked with Patrick who is amazing and was constantly reassuring me about the weather and watching it for me. It turned out to be a great day and all our guests raved about the food. After working with Pure Joy I completely understand why they are so loved in this town as the best wedding caterer and I really recommend their services to other brides.

I got married October 2011 and was fortunate enough to have Pure Joy cater our event. I can not say enough good things about our entire experience with Patrick and the rest of the Pure Joy team! From the many conversations working on a proposed menu to our tasting at Firestone Vineyard to the actual big day we experienced nothing but complete professionalism and beyond delicious food!

It has been almost five months since our wedding and I still have countless guests comment on our food. There seriously can not be a conversation about our wedding day without a mention of the mac and cheese apps and boneless short ribs at dinner! I was very specific with the type of food I wanted to serve at a family style sit down dinner and Patrick saw that all of my needs were met.

We used Pure Joy for our July 30th, 2011 wedding for catering and bar. Food was one of my biggest priorities in planning my wedding, and when I saw all the awards Pure Joy had received over the years and tasted their food, we decided to go with them.

Wow did they deliver! I have to admit I had incredibly high expectations going in to the event after all the planning we did, and the amount of money going into everything. Patrick was a joy to work with, and I always felt like they had everything completely under control. Whenever I left a meeting with him I felt like everything would be great because Pure Joy would allow nothing less!

After many intense planning sessions and a number of backdoor tastings we got the menu set perfectly, rentals and linens all squared away etc. I was really looking forward to the menu and was incredibly excited for the wedding.

I can't speak much for the cocktail hour as I was doing pictures, but I heard all the appetizers were great. I did get a lot of ceviche and coconut shrimp, which were to die for. I didn't get to try any of the pear and gorgonzola filo pockets though, which I was looking forward to. I would recommend setting someone on food saving duty for the cocktail hour if you want to try all your apps. But I think the guests must have enjoyed them because they gobbled them all up!!

We were going for central coast, CA cuisine, with a few personalized touches, and they pulled it off perfectly. It was delicious, satisfying, fresh and light. I could eat that meal every day for the rest of my life and never get sick of it. And the creme brulee station for desert was a huge hit! My french grandmother complimented the creme brulee.

The actual wedding day was just incredible. The food was amazing!! People went back for seconds and thirds, and just raved about everything on the menu. The service was also impeccable, with servers coming to all the tables frequently to refresh wine and drinks. And the setup looked fantastic! The brightly colored linens on the tables and the buffet layout was perfect.

I can't thank Pure Joy enough for making our wedding day amazing! Thank you!

We loved Pure Joy Catering from the get go! We found them at a local bridal fair and decided to give them a shot and we're so glad we did. We didn't have a wedding planner, we just did it ourselves and Pure Joy was such a huge part of our day being a success! Every facet of the catering sevice was top notch in our opinion. We did catering and most of our rentals (linens, tables, chairs, etc.) through them. I've broken out the subtopics below:

Planning
We worked with our event coordinator, Patrick, for the main part of the planning process. My wife and I were a little anxious at first since I lived out of town. But Pure Joy accomodated our schedules and always worked around our needs. Patrick was availble to meet with us whenever we had questions or just wanted to meet with him to make sure we're all on the same page. The great thing about our event coordinator was that he a) was very knowledgeable about the overall wedding process b) had great customer sevice, and c) was able to refer us to other vendors when needed (florist, equipment rentals, etc.). Some days it was almost like wedding therapy to meet with them! We'd be all frazzled because we haven't figured out things but when we met with our coordinator he just walked us through step by step and helped us figure things out. That's a huge plus for any wedding couple who is planning a wedding by themselves. Pure Joy always responded to our emails and calls promptly (within 48 hours, usually same day), which many of the other caterers we initially reached out to didn't respond for weeks. Pure Joy made the planning process feel easy and doable.

Service
When you look for a catering company, sure the food is important but what may often be overlooked is the sevice. Pure Joy's service is what truly put this catering company a notch above the rest. Everyone that we worked with at Pure Joy, from the receptionist, event coordinator, the servers, and even the guy behind the grill were always professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and had a smile on their face. If they didn't happen to know the answer to a question they would get back to us quickly with an answer. Bottom line is that any area of the wedding they were involved with felt seamless and effortless from our perspective.

Food
It was good to have lots of opportunities for food tastings. They held two food tasting events where we tasted a wide variety of foods and drinks. Initially at the tastings we thought the food was 'ok' (some great dishes and some that weren't quite our style) but the service, their professionalism, and their willingness to attend to everything made us feel confident that we made the right choice. They responded to constructive feedback well and made changes to suit our tastes. At the day of the wedding the food was simply phenominal, better than the tastings. Many of our guests were blown away by the quality, variety, and presentation of food. (FYI the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup appetizers were excellent!)

Presentation
We let Pure Joy know that we were having a garden wedding and they coordinated the decorations perfectly. They paid attention to detail on each table by adding some decorative element, whether it be fruits and veggies decorating the tables or bird cages, herbs, etc. Many of our guests commented on how nice our wedding was, noting the food and the presentation and the decor of the location, etc. and Pure Joy had a large part in making it all come together. On the day of the wedding we were confident that everything would come together because of their professionalism and the time they took to meet with us.

In summary, we highly recommend Pure Joy Catering. We truly appreciated all they did for us.

We loved Pure Joy! Their food was even MORE delicious than at our tastings (we went to two of their open houses), the decor was impeccably executed, the staff was so professional, everything was truly perfect. They were a joy to work with - even creating a new menu item for us - the chimichuri sauce for our sirloin. Everyone remarked on the food and service. It was quite a feat for them to create such elegant service in such a rustic environment - but they pulled everything off perfectly. It can't recommend them strongly enough. All of our guests also loved the late night treats - sliders and mac 'n' cheese - a fun surprise. Best of luck to all the brides who are reading this for happy planning and happily ever after!

Pure Joy Catering was great for us. We worked with Kristin who was very knowledgeable not only about catering but also had great recommendations for other vendors (ie for lighting they recommended LBPS http://www.lbpsevents.com/ and they were awesome!). She was always super friendly and willing to help whenever I called. They helped me feel really at ease and pretty much handled everything on the catering end and we only had to make the drive to SB (we're from LA) to meet with them once or twice. The food was great and they decorated the buffet beautifully in the theme of our wedding. They were willing and able to work within our budget also! On the day of our wedding, everything ran really smoothly and we got many compliments on the food (they also have really yummy cupcakes!)

Pure Joy Catering was an amazing vendor to work with and helped to make my wedding day exactly what I had dreamed it to be. The staff during the whole experience was absolutely wonderful to work with. They were extremely responsive and very flexible. The Pure joy staff was a God sent!! From the very begining to the last detail they were so easy to work with and so fun to have with us on our wedding day. We're just now coming down from the dreamy wedding we had and really appriciating the amount of work they did and the incredible quality of profesionalism we were so lucky to have on our wedding day. It was a perfect dream in every way!! When I watch the video now I really see all they did to make it perfect, on your wedding day you just can't notice all the details and care they provide. The guests are still talking about our dinner four months later!! They even gave me one of the recipes so we can use that forever as a memory of our special celebration! It's like they are these happy little friends that are with you and make sure you dont have to touch the ground.

Outstanding service and award winning Santa Barbara cuisine, which also included every detail from our succulent centerpieces, lavender filled escort trays, rental choices and everything in between.

The personal and professional attention we received from the entire PJ Team is unheard of in today�s catering world. After an incredible tasting we changed our menu, adjusted our welcome drinks and even added a coffee bar. Flexibility was never an issue; they just made it happen.

At our outdoor venue, PJ directed and produced a flawless event, and most of all assuaged any fears the mother-of-the-bride may have had. Thanks to Pure Joy the parents of the bride ate every delicious bite and enjoyed every minute of our wedding.

Pure Joy is much more than great food; Pure Joy is the epitome of event planning and sincere, professional, personal service.

Pure Joy reps were very helpful and responded to my questions via email or telephone in a prompt manner. I live 3 hours from my wedding location so it was important that the company was professional and helpful. I never had to worry. We attended a tasting event which helped us decide what to serve. We were happy with all the food and appetizers. A bit pricey in comparison to others in the area but worth it in the end.
