Carina went above & beyond her hired services. I was that bride who couldn't make up my mind for the life of me on hair and makeup... but Carina just went with it so smoothly. I changed my mind not once, but TWICE on hair & makeup, and Carina made sure to get everything right, so that there would be no unfulfilled needs on wedding day for my look. For that, I'm incredibly grateful.
Before our first trial, we had a phone call where I got to tell Carina my vision for my wedding day. And then I sent her photos of hair and makeup for inspiration. Pro tip: for all the women who don't normally wear makeup on the daily... do a lot of browsing and get familiar with what you're looking for before you show up for your trial!
At Carina's studio, it was just the two of us, and Carina spent the time she needed to understand the exact look I was going for. Another pro tip: Ask questions if you need to! She's very accommodating in helping you understand things like, what the difference is between air brush vs. powder, etc. At the end of the trial, she took notes and pictures of me so that she could replicate that look on my wedding day.
On wedding day, her team made my mom, best friend, and I feel so special and beautiful! They came to us fully prepared for any low lighting (like my get-ready spot at the venue!) and with a great attitude overall. And the cherry on top: I got a little emergency to-go kit filled with makeup and other travel sized touch up things.
Would definitely recommend Carina and her team! -

This team ended up being the rockstars I needed for my wedding. Powers Beauty did the hair and make up for myself, my bridal party, the mothers of the couple and my flower grandma. Everyone looked absolutely stunning! And I felt like a dragon queen, straight out of a game of thrones episode (see pics). I didn’t have any specifics as far as hairstyles and make-up so the Powers team was able to adapt their style to everyone’s preferences. Their studio is also very accessible - my wedding venue and hotel were all within a five min walk of the studio which made it super convenient if you’re getting married in Monterey! Carina does such a beautiful job. She listened to every detail of what I described my dream wedding make up to be. Even when I changed my mind and decided to go in a completely different direction. Carina was super patient with me and had no problem with a "re-trial." All of my bridesmaids looked amazing and my mother and mother in law looked so glamorous. Carina and team did our hair and makeup for my wedding day in August in Monterey and I cannot speak highly enough of her. She and her team made my bridesmaids, flower girl, and mom look flawless and I’ve never felt more beautiful than that day. We did a trial run ahead of the day which was so helpful since I wasn’t really sure how to describe the look I was going for and with a few tweaks, she completely nailed it. She gave me a touch up kit as well, although I barely needed it.
She and team were also reasonably priced, flexible, and efficient in getting us all ready, not to mention had a fire playlist to set the mood!!
Thank you so so much, Carina, for helping me put my best face forward on my wedding day!!! :D -

Exactly what I wanted
Carina did great! She saved us the time of having to run around the day of by coming to the house. She had an assistant with her and had 7 girls ready by 12pm. They got there on time quickly set up and were ready to work. Unfortunately I only have a picture of the hair trial but that looks good too. Would definitely hire her again. -

Mother of the bride
Carina was fabulous! She made me so pretty. She did my hair & makeup. As being the mother of the bride I wanted to be the 2nd prettiest one. And she absolutely made that possible. I truly enjoyed our conversations as she was making me beautiful. I got compliments throughout my daughters wedding. I highly recommend her. I feel like she is family 💕 -

Big Little Lies Filming At The Bulldog British Pub
Big Little Lies was coming to film at my work, Karina did both mine and my co-workers make up and we were extremely pleased with the outcome. The makeup lasted throughout the 8 hour plus evening which also pleased both of us! -

Carina Powers is amazing, she is so kind too! I scheduled her to do hollywood waves for my college graduation and they came out stunning. She also did my makeup to match my dress, I had never even though of that. She was more then willingly to travel to my house for the service. I was lucky to come across Carina just a few days before my rescheduled engagement shoot! Long story short, my engagement was all planned and set for in San Francisco months before and I had previously found and booked another make up artist at the time until due to weather, my photographer has suggested to reschedule on the day of. So I was left having to find another makeup artist on the spot just a few days before the rescheduled shoot. I was in Monterey during the time of when my rescheduled shoot was going to take place so luckily my photographer was ok trekking all the way down there and I just had to worry about finding another make up artist that came close to my original. I was stressed for sure as I reached out to almost every make up artist in town that weekend as many have already been booked way ahead of time or couldn’t accommodate, Way out of my budget or simply just wasn’t close to what I was searching for which was a soft glam look!
Sorry now this turned out to be a long review! Lo and behold despite Carina’s busy morning schedule, she agreed to meet with me and squeeze me in just in time for my shoot and really took her time to make sure I was happy and got the look I was hoping for.
I loved the way she did my hair and how it came out, after showing her my inspo pictures and she did a soft glam makeup for me!
Thank you sooo much!! I highly recommend her as she is truly a detailed and professional artist that is so sweet and cares! -

Carina Powers did a fantastic job on my hair and makeup for a beach wedding. Hair stayed in place and looked amazing throughout the entire night. And my makeup was so beautifully done, and also stayed on very well throughout the day and evening even when the wind picked up on the beach. I am very happy with the work she did for me on my wedding day. She was very kind, easy to work with, and made my family and I feel comfortable. I highly recommend her for any special event or just wanting to look beautiful for a day. Thank you Carina Powers !! -

Carina was a huge honor and privilege to work with! Her work is amazing and flawless. She is incredibly talented and I am so glad she was there for me on my big day. She also takes her time and pays attention to your wants/needs. She is an easygoing person and I enjoyed our time together. My makeup was completely flawless still even after 12hrs. And my hair was still intact! (Huge deal for me bc I have extremely thick and heavy hair). It was 1am when we were eating again and not a smudge or updo out of place. She did an amazing job and I would love to work with her again :) -

Carina and her partner did a wonderful job on our hair and makeup! Her work is flawless and she works hard to make sure she captures what kind of style or look you are wanting for your wedding! She made me and my bridesmaids so beautiful on the day of the wedding! She was even able to squeeze in my aunt last minute.
The only thing was lack of communication throughout the planning process, but she did a wonderful job during the trials and day of the wedding. -

I had a mixed time with Powers Beauty.
For my hair and make-up trial, everything was perfect. Karina was able to quickly schedule me, her pricing was average for the area, and my trial hair and makeup was stunning! I loved how it looked and my hair was so intricate and beautiful. I agreed to have her do my own hair and makeup, and well for my MOH, mom, and aunt.
She had contacted me a week prior with a timeline for everyone. Karina and two others were to come at 11:30 am on the day of. She asked we all be ready to go 15 minutes prior and to have a space set up.
On the day of my wedding, at 11:45, no one had showed. I had given her detailed directions on where my house in Carmel was, and I had a friend stand outside to help direct. I texted and called her at 11:30 to make sure she was coming, No response. I called 10 minutes later. No response. At 12:15, she finally texted me saying she was having car trouble and would be there in 10 minutes. She arrived 25 minutes later. She was over an hour late, which meant that the timeline was off and each person would get less time for their hair and makeup look .
Since she had not responded for 40 minutes, my mom and MOH had just started doing their own hair and makeup as they figured she was a no show.
Karina started with me and was able to finish me after an hour ( I was originally promised 2 and the trial was 2 hours). While I did like my look, it was not as intricate as it was in the engagement shoot. Later on, I could also see my makeup was not as well blended and my face looked a little orange in photos.
The two assistants ( who were supposed to come at 11:30 ) also showed late. One came thirty minutes before we were supposed to leave for the church. Because of them being so late, everyone was rushed and stressed.
The make-up and hair looks that were done were very nice, I just wish there had been more communication.
