Absolutely would hire again!

Responsive, reliable, flexible- we were really pleased with the music, the set up, the dj himself was super chill, it was great! Would absolutely hire this vendor again!

Matt is the best in Pensacola!

Everything about Matt DJ’ing our wedding was amazing! He showed up on time (actually early), was professional and paid attention to detail. He was phenomenal and keeping track of what was going on around him and so interactive with our guests and us.

Matt played the songs we really wanted to hear and did a great job weeding through the requests to determine which would fit our vibe or not. He’s a true professional and his experience is evident behind the table.

Matt’s setup is top notch, sound quality was perfect and he’s a perfectly engaged master of ceremonies. If you need a wedding DJ or a DJ for any other event, Matt is your guy!

This team was fantastic! Kept the dancing going, read the room, took requests, and even let one of our groomsmen behind the dj booth to try his hand a little lol. Overall, I would definitely recommend this company and would use again.

He's your guy!

Matt did an amazing job at our wedding! He did sound for both our ceremony and reception. He listened to all of our requests, nailed the timing and flow of our ceremony, and was a very lively emcee! We received lots of compliments on the music. He worked well with our wedding coordinator and photographer and showed the upmost professionalism. We appreciate all he did for us on our special day! Fantastic!

Hi Matt, thank you so much for all that you did to make our wedding absolutely perfect!! It turned out exactly how we envisioned it and we couldn't have asked for anything more!! It went off without a hitch!! We got so many compliments from friends and family on what a great job you did with all of the lighting and the music!! Everyone had a blast dancing and they can't stop talking about our reception entrance!! They say it's one for the books and Chuck and I have to agree!! It turned out exactly how we envisioned it!! So many guests commented on how fabulous you are!! You and your assistants outdid yourselves!! The acoustic musician that played during the cocktail hour was fantastic, too!! I know y'all worked so hard and it really showed!! Chuck and I appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts!! 🤘🎶🎉

Wedding Reception DJ

Matt and Powell Entertainment did a great job of coordinating all of the music for our destination wedding ceremony and reception in Orange Beach, AL.
Throughout the planning process there was clear communication which made the big day run smoothly. The online planning tool was very helpful and simple to use. On our big day, everything was perfect! I would definitely recommend Matt and Powell Entertainment when in the Orange Beach / Gulf Shores area.

Awesome dj!

My husband and I had the BEST experience with Matt and his team at Powell Entertainment for our wedding in Pensacola, FL in March 2019! Matt kept the party going all night at the reception - the dance floor was always packed and my guests had an amazing time! He took the time to find out what type of vibe my husband and I were going for with our reception and absolutely made it happen. He even went out of his way before the big day to help me create a special mash up song for my Bride/Father dance! Matt and his team also added lighting to our reception venue and it without question looked amazing and was everything I had envisioned! If you are looking for a great DJ who goes above and beyond - look no further!! Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Powell Entertainment! Matt provided music during the ceremony and cocktail hour and kept the party going as dj until the very last minute of the reception. He provided uplighting and dance floor lighting for the reception. I would definitely use Powell Entertainment again!

Matt met with us about a week before our wedding and went over everything with us. His team also came to our venue the night before to set up cafe lights which was really great for us because we got to use them for our grooms dinner and our reception the next day as well. Sterling was our DJ for the reception and he was THE BEST. This guy seriously made our reception SO much fun, was on time, and kept the party going. I highly recommend these guys for your next event!

Matt with Powell Entertainment was absolutely phenomenal. We had a destination wedding and were unable to meet with him until the day of the wedding. Despite that, there was an open line of communication as soon as I initially contacted him. We requested two songs to be played during the reception, but otherwise, we left all music decisions to his professional judgment and we were not disappointed! Matt played an awesome mix that appealed to everyone and kept the dance floor hopping until the end of the party! He also helped us to organize our timeline for the reception, which was extremely helpful. 10/10 would recommend!

Oh my! Loved them!!!!!
Albert and Jack were punctual and efficient in their set-up and tear-down. They were friendly, engaging, and cooperative! We reviewed the music according to the order of the ceremony and they executed it well! They kept the occasion and bridal party front and center rather than being showmen! We had so much fun! 3 cheers! Hats off! Kudos!

This guy and his team are awesome! Matt really knows how to read the crowd and if you give him a list of songs you want played, he knows the perfect order to play them in. I highly recommend him for any event, especially weddings!

Not only has Matt Powell mastered DJing wedding events but has also mastered professional events. Matt Powell was extremely professional, easy to communicate with and very organized. He was able to keep the party going and read the crowd. He took the stress out of trying to think of what songs to play. We had a great time at our reception due to Matt Powell! Also the ease of payments was amazing, no phone calls, no checks, just an easy online payment. We would recommend Matt for any private event, work event, wedding or celebration. Thanks Matt!

We used Powell Entertainment for our wedding lighting, and I am so thankful we decided to go with him. Matt was a pleasure to work with, from last minute changes due to the rain to ensuring the chandeliers we provided were wind-proofed, he was wonderful. Our wedding turned out beautifully and we received so many compliments about our chandeliers and cafe lighting! I would definitely recommend using Powell Entertainment for lighting, and DJ services.

They did such a great job with our wedding! Our wedding was outdoors, and he used the string lighting under the tent we had for our reception and to cover an area outside the tent. It was truly picture perfect especially with the up lights he added too! He played all the right music and was also able to provide instrumental music for someone that was singing at our wedding. This was great because I didn't have time to find it myself with all the busy planning I was doing. Also he worked with us when I had a family emergency come up and was very patient and understanding even though this made the planning with him be postponed, he still made the ceremony come out beyond what I could have ever imagined. I would recommend him in a heart beat to anyone else and I challenge anyone to find a better DJ in the area, because you won't.

Our daughter's December 31, 2016 wedding reception was a smashing success! Powell Entertainment provided top-notch music, sound system and lighting that kept the dance floor highly occupied continuously for almost six hours straight! Matt added a special waltz to his playlist for the Daughter/Dad dance, going above and beyond, making the night that much more special. When the music is good, you dance and we did! You have found your DJ/Lighting vendor!

Matt was an absolute pleasure to work with from beginning planning stages until the wedding. He was very professional and accommodating and definitely made our wedding a night to remember! Hiring Powell Entertainment was absolutely the BEST decision we could have made! From the time we first spoke on the phone to the day of the wedding Matt was AMAZING! He was much more than a DJ for us. He went above and beyond to make sure that our special day was smooth and stress free. We didn't hire a day of coordinator because Matt assured us that he would take care of everything. HE DID THAT AND THEN SOME! We filled out a questionnaire with our music choices for the wedding and a Masterpiece was created for the dance floor! We wanted steel drum players for wedding and Matt made it happen! The dance floor was never empty and the smiles on our guests faces were priceless! Matt really knew how to read the crowd well. Our guests are still talking about how awesome our wedding and music were!

Thank you Powell Entertainment for making our wedding day and after party the ABSOLUTE best day of our life. We couldn't have pulled it off without them.

My husband Peter and I went into the wedding planning process having no clue what we were doing but at the least knowing when it came to music we didn’t want to hire any old DJ, who may or may not be a DJ come wedding time. Between his top notch website and a few minutes of our first meeting - we both knew Matt Powell was THE guy.

Matt’s laid-back but highly seasoned, professional demeanor is just what we needed. He put us completely at ease with every part of the process, met with us several times and his emails were always prompt and direct.

Matt isn’t just a DJ. He is an all-purpose fusion of everything entertainment. He set up beautiful tea lights and wall lighting inside the venue, played the high quality ceremony music and then like a wizard appeared over at the reception to manage cocktail hour music. He introduced our wedding party like the pro he is and flawlessly executed the rest of the evening. Our guests loved him, loved the music and loved the extra ambiance all of his lighting added to the venue.

In short- our expectations were exceeded and then some. Our wedding flowed to perfection due to a small handful of people… Matt was, without a doubt, one of them. I will recommend Powell Entertainment to everyone and anyone, without hesitation.

Best advice from me about booking this DJ? --Don't look any further. He is absolutely amazing and knows what he is doing. We really enjoyed every moment of our reception and it turned out so much better than I expected it to!

Matt was absolutely amazing! He helped throughout the process of all song choices from the ceremony, to the reception, and even our parents dance songs. He was more than accomadating with whatever we asked for, and all of our guests loved him! He always played the most perfect song at the perfect time, and it was the best night of my life... The lighting and monogramming system he used was very professionally done, and made the Yacht Club we were married out just light up and become so magical and whimsical..I highly recommend him to anyone who is getting married!!! I'm so happy I chose Matt to do my ceremony. I contacted Matt seven months before my wedding and he was very helpful, eager,professional, and courteous. I knew from our first phone call he was just what I was looking for. I contacted Matt several times before my wedding and he was always available!! The day of my wedding he was punctual and very helpful. I'm so happy we chose him. Matt made my day go just as planned!!!

Matt did a wonderful job with the lighting for our ceremony! It completely changed the ambiance of the room we rented and made it feel so special! He was even able to order us a personalized light that projected above our table with our names and the date of our wedding, which turned out fabulous! Matt did an amazing job with our wedding! He was so helpful during the planning process with song choices. He was always flexible and easy to get a hold of. No matter how many times I changed things, he was always accommodating. The lighting that he used for our reception was beautiful. We got a violinist through him for our ceremony that did an outstanding job. Matt kept the night rolling with fantastic music. He is great with reading the crowd and choosing the right songs at the right time. Our night was beautiful thanks in part to Matt! He is a phenomenal choice if you are looking for a DJ in the Pensacola area!

My wedding reception was a blast!

Matt and his guys at Powell Entertainment truly made my wedding one to remember! We hired him for entertainment, lighting, and renting a dance floor. Booking him was a no-brainer (my mom absolutely loved how personable and professional he is) and he was so responsive to emails and texts during planning. We changed our minds on what we needed a few times but he was so accommodating and didn’t make us feel like we were being a burden even when we were stressing out. He went above and beyond what we hired him to do (putting batteries in fairy lights that weren’t provided by him, moving picnic tables in our venue’s courtyard, etc.).

Our lights were absolutely stunning (cafe string lights above the dance floor and outside our venue’s courtyard) and Matt had us dancing the entire night! He performed a perfect mix of songs I provided in a playlist beforehand and songs he knew would get people on the dance floor. It was wonderful! I did notice that he didn’t play any slow songs, which I and some of my guests would have appreciated, but nevertheless everyone had a blast and we are still getting raving reviews on how fun our wedding was!

What a great DJ. Selection of music was spot on. My brother-in-law has his own radio station and said Matt's music was great and all the right choices. Matt gave us good mood music and then kept the party going! Matt placed some special lighting and created some special effects for us. He was great to work with.

Best DJ ever!!

Matt did such a great job DJing for our wedding. He was so fun and kept the dance floor bumping all night. He was super good at reading the crowd and super fun to work with. Such a nice guy. Thanks Matt we love ya!!!

Matt was awesome. He was able to do whatever we asked of him including a video my MOH wanted to show during her speech. He is super easy to talk to to and made the planning very fun. All the audio was great at the ceremony and the reception. We had people dancing the entire night! He isn't great at responding to emails but extremely quick to respond to a text so I'd recommend texting him over email. He offers sooo much and it was 100% worth the price and I would recommend him to anyone! Thanks, Matt!! We loved our day :)

Matt was awesome! We had our wedding in orange beach AL at a venue he had not performed at yet. He was definitely flexible and comfortable as he adapted to a new venue no problem. It was hard for us to find a DJ that was professional enough to earn our trust, but not Matt. He was wonderful! Very articulate, poised, and put forth great effort at our wedding. Matt was all about taking our input on the song list and then rolling with that. He didn't even judge us for our 90's music obsession! He read the crowd so well and kept us on the dance floor literally all night that I forgot to eat! His eclectic taste in music and professionalism make him a top contender for any event.

They were terrible at getting back to me. That is why i give them this rating. Although DJ did hook us up with beautiful lighting though. Overall not impressed since the reviews were great.

Buyer beware!

Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a professional DJ. KEEP LOOKING! I got married again in 2024 after being widowed in 2007. Like all weddings, this was a once in a life time celebration and I hired Powell Entertainment on a strong recommendation from a very well known local business owner of a large entertainment complex in Pensacola's historic "quarter." I paid in full for Powell's services in March for a mid September wedding and was promised extras "gratis" for the early payment. It was the only reason I did so. Due to my strong connection with his colleague, Matt promised me HE would do our wedding himself. Not only did he not come for the wedding, the person he sent arrived 2 hours late! The party was saved by the wedding planner's quick solution and my son's phone in his pocket, from which he played the music he and I compiled for the after party Playlist over the venue's speaker system via bluetooth. Save yourself a lot of money and have friends play what you want from their phones! The working DJ didn't even play the songs I said i had to have! When we discussed this with Matt, he first agreed to refund part of the payment, having missed 30% of the party. Then he lied to my new husband about what he had agreed to. When the check arrived, it wasn't even half of the amount he originally agreed to, and contained a letter stating we could only cash it if we didn't write a review anywhere or tell my friend who recommended him or he would take legal action. That's called blackmail. (On top of all this, we were charged for the "extras' that were supposed to be included because I paid in full up front. No amount of money is worth my silence and not warning consumers. As I said before,.... keep looking for a PROFESSIONAL DJ. Save yourself a lot of trouble. Hire someone else!

The only reason I chose this DJ because he mentioned that he plays unlimited hours. My wedding started at 5pm and Matt took it upon himself to wrap up at 10pm. He's very unprofessional and refused to play after 10pm since he packed up all his music gear. Not only is he very expensive but he also did not play all night like he agreed to. Do not select this DJ. He should have never played at my wedding because he couldn't wait to go home. I don't know how he stays in business. I'd ask him to play longer and he refused. He ruined my wedding. I wouldn't want another couple to experience what I went through.
