Delicious, Affordable Food!

Chef Erika's food was phenomenal. Everything was fresh and apart from a few minor details with the presentation on wedding day, we had a great experience. I couldn't believe how she let me fully customize our menu, offering 3 unique foods, while all staying in our budget. She was also very helpful in providing bartenders and alcohol packages for wedding day too. I was also shocked at how cost efficient these services were too! We provided seltzers as one of the alcoholic beverages and she was even detailed enough to get the flavors that I said were my favorite. I highly recommend her services. Her response times might be slower because she is truly a one woman show but the food is amazing!

Beach wedding

We used Portabello Market for a beach wedding in December 2025. We had a taco bar for the rehearsal dinner that was excellent. For the wedding we had the prime rib and chicken with all the sides. Everything was great. Erika also provided breakfast sandwiches , fruit, and muffins for the morning of the wedding. The service staff was excellent, the food was top notch, and she was so helpful on things we weren’t sure of. Provided excellent suggestions and was punctual and professional. With us being 8 hours away, Erika and her staff made the planning stress free. Totally recommend 10/10!!

I hired Portabello Market for my wedding on May 3, 2025, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the experience. Erika was incredible to work with—she helped customize a fantastic menu that perfectly suited our event. The entire team was warm, professional, and an absolute joy to have on our big day. We received so many compliments from guests about how delicious the food was and how kind and attentive the staff were. A heartfelt thank you to Erika, Tracy, Ava, and Tony—you all played such an important role in making our day unforgettable.

Very responsive and fabulous food

Chef Erica Thomas provided a wonderful and delicious menu. Food not only tasted amazing (blacked shrimp penne especially), but was presented beautifully. She was very quick to respond and was thorough in her communication. I would absolutely use her again.

The Best Food!!!!

Amazing caterer

Great service and delicious.

Delicious Food and Dedicated Staff

Chef Erika and her team were simply amazing. Her passion for food is so apparent in the quality and taste of the meals she creates. Chef Erika created a custom menu for our special day and traveled all the way to Foley, AL, where she worked in a small room of a barn. She was so innovative and prepared for anything. The server she brought was so friendly and worked hard to make sure our reception was clean and our buffet was always full. I also asked for meals for our vendors, and she was more than prepared with the amount of food. Our guests talked about how great the food was all night. I would recommend them for any party or catering needs.

Amazing food

Erika was awesome. The food was so amazing and I received many compliments on how wonderful it all was. I have never had to deal with out of town coordinating so that was a little stressful, but it all turned out perfectly. Id say for future brides to not worry if you dont get a reply right away. They are very busy and will answer all of your questions and you will not regret hiring them to cater your event. Everything was set up nicely and I had even forgotten to set out fruit that I had bought and Erika took that over as well and made sure it all looked great.

More than I could have wished for!

Chef Erica is outstanding. She created a menu that please adults and children, with gourmet options, stunning presentation, and seamless service. They were also the most organized and prepared group of people I have had the pleasure of doing business with. I can not say enough great things.

Great Experience!

I recently used Portabello Market for my wedding. Chef Erika was so great to work with! I was blown away with the food and service we received. All our guests complimented the food. Erika was always there to answer any questions I had. She also helped me with getting my cake from J's Bakery (also amazing!). I am very happy with how everything turned out. I would definitely recommend Portabello Market to anyone looking for a caterer! You will not be disappointed!

Perfect beach wedding catering company

Chef Erika and her team made planning a wedding from afar super easy! She was easy to work with, suggested a great menu that worked for all of our guests, and was able to work with us and our available space. And guests raved about her food! She did a vegetable lasagna for us that a women told me “I don’t even like lasagna and this is great” and don’t even get me started on the short rib! Y’all. Obviously I’m biased because this was my wedding, but I don’t think I’ve had better food anywhere else.

Chef Erika was wonderful to work with and her food was incredible!! No one could get over how delicious her mashed potatoes and the beef were, guests are still talking about it months after our wedding! She was easy to work with, helped us meet our budget, and was very friendly!

They made the most beautiful cake I have seen. We just gave her an idea and she ran with it. They did a wonderful job, and at a great price. Would highly recommend.

We loved the food at our reception. Chef Erika listened and was able to create exactly what we were wanting. From the charcuterie board during the cocktail hour to the lamb served for dinner. It was an incredible meal.

Chef Erika was incredibly helpful and accommodating. Our menu was exactly what we wanted and within our budget. We had a buffet for our wedding and our guests raved about how great the food was. Erika, Ryan, and their staff, were great. They made helpful suggestions on the menu and were willing to work with us on pricing. All of our expectations were met and beyond. We are from Baton Rouge and had a rough summer, floods, but had already planned my daughter's wedding in Seaside. The only thing I hadn't done was find a caterer, Portobello Market was already my first choice, I had contacted them months ago but never followed up. I got in touch with them just 3 weeks before the wedding and they were so helpful and accommodating. Chef Erika and Ryan came through big time. The food was amazing, I had ordered enough and then some and I had ppl asking if it was OK to get 3rds. Thank you

In a word, "OUTSTANDING!" When we were interviewing caterers, we had several scheduled, and Portobello was our first appointment. After meeting with Ryan, we cancelled the others. We clicked with him immediately and knew we wanted Portobello to cater our rehearsal dinner and wedding. The food was amazing. We went over with him what we wanted for both dinners, and the menu recommendations he provided were right on target. Our guests were very complementary of every course, and no one went away hungry! The staff was very attentive, and went out of their way to ensure that everyone was satisfied. Not only do we highly recommend them, we look forward to using them again when we have a party.

We held a small family wedding and the food was delicious. Chef Ryan was very friendly and flexible to serve after sunset pictures. We also loved the fact that it's a family business and everyone made the day that more special. Highly recommended.

We used Portabello Market for a family dinner serving 18 people, after my daughter's beach wedding. They came and set everything up at our rental house while we were at the beach, which was a real plus. We chose the Italian Menu and it was fantastic. Every item was delightful. Ryan was very laid back and friendly, but also professional and quick with his responses when we were choosing a caterer. I have no doubt that he could handle a large wedding as efficiently as he did ours.

I love Portabello Market! They catered for my sister's wedding and were the only one's that I wanted for my own! The food is fantastic. They do a seasonal menu so that the food is always fresh and flawless. They also provide cups, cutlery, plates, and fabric napkins in your choice of color. The staff is so sweet and when they came up to great me and congratulate us, I felt like I had known them for years, that's how personable they are! I absolutely recommend them to anyone for any occasion!

I was nervous about booking a catering company for our destination wedding without being able to try any of their foods beforehand, but we were so happy with Portabello Market! Erika and I exchanged many emails and even a few phone calls going over the details for our wedding. She helped us design a menu that everyone at our wedding would love and fulfilled my desire to have some really unique items. They took care of all the setup, plates, napkins, etc. and cleanup, so we had zero worries the day of our wedding.

The food itself was delicious and we had some left to keep for the next week for our honeymoon. They did a great job of setting everything up so it looked beautiful and they provided really nice plates, glasses and silverware so that our beach reception felt like a formal affair!

We are so happy we went with Portabello Market and would recommend them to anyone as a great value and excellent service.

I can not express enough how great Portabello Market was. They took care of everything for us. From setup to cleanup they gave superb service. They were friendly, the food was WONDERFUL (we had the herb chicken and beef tips), and the cost was great for the quality or service and food we received. I HIGHLY recommend! We planned a destination wedding so I had to trust our wedding planner to pick all the vendors we used. I had never met Ryan or had the chance to taste his food, but I couldnt of imagined our food tasting any better. I was so happy with how the food turned out. The service that Ryan and his team provided us was wonderful. We had no complaints about the food and most of the guests went back for more. If you are looking for a caterer in his area, you would regret not giving them a shot.

Erika and Ryan were great. They presented many options and were very flexible. Our wedding guests raved about the food. We ordered an entire roast pig and it was a hit. When photos took longer than expected, the staff was patient and pleasant, and one gentleman stood by the pig and waved a towel to keep flies from landing on it. They also catered our rehearsal dinner the evening before. Excellent food, excellent customer service. Highly recommend.

I can't say enough great things about Erika and her team at Portabello Market. When I saw Portabello Market on our wedding venue's list of approved caterers, I wasn't sure what to expect. My (now husband) and I went in to meet with Erika, and REALLY enjoyed talking with her! She was open to hearing our vision of what we wanted for our big day, and had lots of ideas for us. One of my favorite things about working with Portabello Market is how flexible and open to change Erika was. We changed the menu a few times, and ended up adding things to our menu the day before our wedding! On wedding day, Erika and her team were so great - setup went smoothly, and the everything looked awesome. We had them set up a hot beverage bar for our ceremony, had passed apps and a cheese board for our cocktail hour, and had a "fancy BBQ" dinner buffet complete with steak with Dijon whiskey barbecue and Apricot Chicken with Blackberry and Red Barbecue Sauce. I loved how unique the main courses were - and all the sides including sweet potato mash, jalapano corn muffins, grilled veggies and salad were amazing! Erika also set up a beverage station with (my requested) strawberry lemonade, sweet tea and water. All of our wedding guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing the food was - and we had the perfect amount of food, with only a little left over! Overall - I can't stress what a great experience working with Erika and Portabello Market was. Her flexibility to change the menu up until the day before our wedding, and professional execution of our wedding catering really exceeded my expectations! I would highly recommend Portabello Market for any wedding or event!

Chef Erika and her team at Portabello Market did an excellent job of catering. The food was amazing, especially the roast beef, and the servers were very professional and attentive. I would recommend Portabello to anyone that needs a wedding caterer or if anyone wants a good lunch in downtown Pensacola!

I have so many great things to say about the wedding catering services from Portabello Market in Pensacola, Florida. Portabello Market made such a unique wedding menu for me. I love seafood, but my husband is much more of a meat and potatoes man. Portabello created a shrimp and grits bar for me and a mashed potato bar for my husband, in addition to other seafood staples and barbecue fare. The staff was extremely professional and friendly. They even checked on me to make sure I had taken the time to eaten, and made me a special plate. They boxed up all the leftovers for us at the end of the night.

The quality of the food from Portabello Market was exceptional and the customer service is outstanding. The cost was fair as well. I highly recommend Portabello Market for wedding catering in the Florida Panhandle.

Chef Erika and her staff did such an AMAZING job providing the food for our wedding reception! I wanted to do some type of low country boil. Erika suggested we do a shrimp bar with mild and spicy boiled shrimp, corn, potatoes and andouille sausage. The remoulade sauce that accompanied the shrimp bar was outstanding! We also had rosemary braised beef with an awesome horseradish creme fraiche, caribbean rubbed pork with a delicious mango salsa, salad, grilled vegetables with a balsamic marinade, and mashed red potatoes bliss. Everything was PHENOMENAL!! All of my guests raved about the food as well. I couldn't have imagined anything better! Thank you Erika and your staff for providing an absolutely perfect meal and service!!

The team at Portabello Market did an excellent job of catering my wedding. The food was wonderful, the servers professional and everyone was extremely cooperative and friendly. Great food at a great price, especially for a bride on a tight budget. They were very willing to work with us to make our menu perfect and stick within our budget.

Portbello's food is TO-DIE-FOR. Guests at my wedding are still talking about how good the sun-dried tomato chicken and strawberry salad were. In fact, I'm sad I didn't eat a ton more at the wedding. Erika was so patient and flexible with me and my mother as we tried to sort out out budget, guest list and menu. We did a buffet and all of the food tasted just like it was freshly served the entire night. It was delicious, looked beautiful and was everything we wanted. I highly recommend Portabello for any event.

Ryan and the staff at Portabello Market were great to work with and responded quickly to emails. I planned my wedding from 5 hours away without ever tasting the food that we selected for our rehearsal dinner and the reception. The food was great! We had nothing but positive comments from our guests. We chose a low country boil for the rehearsal dinner, the food was fresh and hot and we had plenty of it. The barbeque at the reception was very tasty and my husband enjoyed the brisket. I would recommend Portabello Market for anyone considering a large catered event.

Ahh what can I say but perfecto! They really gave a wonderful selection for our reception venue. I was totally surprised since I never heard of this company. The small desserts came out perfectly. All my guest complimented on the food served and we did not hear not one complaint on anything. They set everything up and I did not even have to worry that it wouldn't be done. They informed me right before my wedding everything was DONE!

Very helpful and flexible.

Very helpful and prompt. Did a great job with presentation and service. It was a super windy day and the chafing dishes kept going out. They did their best to keep the buffet foods warm for guests. Very easy to work with.

Pleasant Surprise

Planning a destination wedding is hard enough but Chef Erika took the anxiety out of the food experience. She was very patient through all the changes that needed to be made through the planning. The food was excellent and very reasonable for our selection. I would definitely hire Portabello Market again!

We hired Portabello Market to cater food and desserts for our October 9th, 115-person wedding at Palafox Wharf.

We started planning with Ryan and Erika last December and worked with them to build our menu based on the food we tasted at the initial meeting.

While there was a period of time when they got very busy and we waited to get a response from Ryan, in the end they completely pulled through and met every one of our requests. For instance, we asked for a shaved ice dessert bar, mini-desserts and a sweetheart cake, and everything turned out beautifully and deliciously. Their fried chicken was so good and our grits bar got rave reviews. We wish we had more of the jalapeño cornbread... Yum!

For the value, Portabello Market was an excellent choice to cater our special day. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a catering group that can pull off fantastic, southern food.

Ryan and his staff at Portabello Market were great to work with for my wedding! Everyone loved the food. He was very accommodating and flexibly throughout the planning. He provided everything we needed and was awesome with helping plan the menu and what we wanted! However, it does take a few days to get a response. But I would definitely use them again!!

Erika, Ryan and their staff were amazing. We wanted to branch out from the traditional wedding buffet and do something that felt truly Southern while also making sure our many vegetarian friends from the Pacific Northwest had an equally exciting entree. They suggested a whole roast pig from a local small farm and vegetarian pesto lasagna for mains, asparagus, walnut strawberry pecan salad and a mashed potato bar for sides. We also did some fabulous passed appetizers. Go ahead and spring for the mini crab cakes with remoulade, they are a bit more expensive but they were my favorite out of the three we chose. Our guests could not stop talking about Erika's amazing food! Service was excellent, attentive, speedy, friendly and professional. We bought our own wine and beer (shout out to Pensacola Bay Brewery) but Portabello provided a great bartender to serve. The setup was very pretty and Ryan handled all our questions attentively and with a great sense of humor, and gave us some excellent guidance on how best to set up our reception space (it helped that we were using Pensacola Cultural Center, which is their home base) If you want a caterer that is creative, organized, and not at all uptight or snooty, I highly recommend Portabello! ❤❤❤❤!

Overall, my experience with Ryan at Portabello was AMAZING! He bent over backwards to make our wedding special, unique, and perfect! Initially upon contacting them I didn't get a response and continued in my search for a caterer. But after another vendor raved about them I gave them a second call and Ryan apologized for Erika not getting back to me and went on to create an amazing menu for us in just a day and a competitive quote that made me happy to proceed! Our needs were different (we wanted family style service and items they had never made before) but he was happy to accommodate. He even made a batch of the food I asked for to trial in his restaurant and send me pictures and guest reviews! The staff was very professional the day of the wedding and everything turned out beautifully!

Erika did a great job! We loved the food, and she even personalized our menu. I love green beans, and my husband loves dressing, so we requested "fancy dressing" and green beans. She made the most amazin array of food, and if you book her, all I have to say is Rasberry Brie and Ginger Snaps. Seriously, everyone there ate that until they exploded, it was that amazing. She really gave us the look and experience we wanted.

You won’t be sorry!

So happy we hired Chef Erika and her staff. Great experience from beginning to end AND every single person at the reception (and after) complimented the food. I did not realize I provided the table for the food and she did not miss a beat to resolve the issue. We would not hesitate to hire again.

Portabello Market did a good job catering my food. I had skewered shrimp in scallion oil. Grilled mahi mahi with mango salsa. Baked Ziti, and roasted chicken with this delicious parmesan sauce. My only little complaint is that the mango pineapple salsa didn't have any mango in it, and I think just had canned pineapple. It was not as tasty as when I was at the main location. However, food was hot, staff was accommodating and professional. The set up was beautiful and I would recommend them to family and friends. If you are ever in downtown Pensacola, you must go there for lunch. It's mouthwatering delicous!!

I was a little nervous when they arrived 20 minutes later when originally scheduled, but they still arrived within plenty of time to set everything up. I thought the food and presentation was very good and that the prices were very reasonable. I got lots of compliments from guests on the food as well. It was $25 a person and I did a mix and match of one of there sample menus including beef tenderloin, grilled shrimp, chicken skewers, salad bar, and a couple sides. They took care of all set up and breakdown and we had a bartender and two servers which was plenty. The staff was all very nice and a pleasure to work with.

I would definitely recommend A Gourmet Occasion to a friend.

The food was delicious and ready to go when it was suppose to be. All of our guests enjoyed the buffet selection! The pasta was our favorite! They are a very busy catering service so reaching them when we needed was a challenge but nothing went wrong in pricing or in what we asked for!

I used Portabello Market's catering services for my wedding reception. We had passed appetizers for cocktail hour and seated plated dinner. We also used their bartenders for our open bar.

Their prices are very competitive and probably was the least expensive out of all the caterers I talked to in the area. But unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed with their service. They were probably at least 1 hour delayed in getting out the salad plates/dinner. They also got my order wrong (I wanted the pasta, but they instead gave me the chicken). Nevertheless, their food was delicious and I didn't have any complaints from guests about the bartenders. The time it takes for them to respond to emails sometimes took several days - for a someone like myself who checks her emails multiple times during the day and values prompt responses, that was something that could have also been improved.

I did a destination wedding to Destin FL on Sept 9, 2017. I had been working with Erika to plan an amazing dinner for our guest. We had approximately 40 people. I wanted seafood considering we are at the ocean! Erika worked with my menu options and was very accommodating to making changes up till the last month! I loved that I didn't have to be at the home for drop off, that was a big plus! Our ceremony was in progress as they set up the meal! The disposables were great, I was a little worried it wouldn't look nice but it did. Dinner drop off was 6 and we were ready to eat at 7. As the bride and groom we were first to get our plates, dinner was cold. We both looked at each other like oh no! Hopefully it was just ours, unfortunately other at our table mentioned it wasn't warm. That is a disappointment followed by the quality of our meal. We had chicken, it was dry. Homemade lobster mac n cheese was very good. Crab cakes were pitiful! When I think I crab cakes I thought a little crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, what we had was soggy cakes with good flavor! The shrimp was good and the sauce everyone talked about! Honestly I truly believe our meal was prepared days earlier, you could see it in the quality of our dinner. Yes it was the weekend Irma was expected to arrive in FL and from our conversation earlier in the week had me worried. I am disappointed. I wasn't going to write a review and it has taken 3 weeks after to do so. I just think it's the right thing to do bc we all know how special that wedding dinner is.

Beware- Lacks Service, Professionalism, Quality

Portobello catered my wedding in April ‘23. Below was my experience. Although a very minimal refund was received- not a single apology for the disaster. Below are a few facts:

1. 1.5 hrs late. Arrived at beach house venue with the guests. Hauling food up the stairs at same time. Complete chaos
2. “Chef” admitted to being overwhelmed due to lateness. Many offers from guests to help (restaurant owners themselves) but declined
3. “Chef” extremely rude to bride and guests. Not a single smile all evening. Many many guests commented on her attitude.
4. Hot passed appetizers served cold. Forgot to cook in oven. Inedible
5 Wrong skewers served as appetizers. Chicken rather than beef ordered. Chef rude when advised of mistake.
6. Six bottles of Wrong champagne e opened for toast. Told bride they would just “record” it for following days brunch
7. Only 1/2 of guests were actually served champagne for toast. Asked for servers to have trays w glasses ready and poured for toast post. Ceremony
8. Bar ran out of mixers. Bartender told guests he thought it was only wine and beer ???
9. Food buffet had zero presentation and no food signs as promised. Prime rib slipped into a dish crammed into table along with everything else jammed onto two 6 ft tables as requested.
10. Open Kitchen at beach house looked like a disaster the entire wedding. No clean as you go. Cutting prime rib on counter in front of all guests. Servers unable to pick up guests plates and glasses as used. Elderly parents shuttling dishes to the kitchen all night.
11. Cake cutting services paid for- however chef did not know how to cut a wedding cake and guests had to demonstrate and assist.
12. Box for top of wedding cake left by cake maker thrown away by caterer
13 bartender left outside bar complete mess with cut fruit strewn all over and empty bottles scattered all over bar
14. Crew left without any word to bride groom or anyone else.

Additionally- food totally lacking in taste and quality. Truly shocked at entire service and would never recommend for even a Saturday football party. Much less an elegant wedding in Pensacola beach at such a gorgeous venue.
