We couldn't have asked for a better wedding reception venue than Pier 22. From the very beginning, the planning was seamless thanks to Hannah. She was so attentive, organized, and truly went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly!
The setting itself is breathtaking; the view from inside the ballroom was so beautiful and provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration. The food/cake was a major highlight; we got so many compliments from our guests about how delicious everything was. The on-staff service team was also incredible. They were professional, kind, and kept everything moving perfectly throughout the day. If you’re looking for a beautiful venue (max capacity around 150 in the ballroom) with a top-tier team and food options, we highly recommend Pier 22! -

We worked with Hannah at Pier 22 and I cannot express how amazing she was from the start of wedding planning to the actual wedding day. She answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful throughout the process. She even let my day of coordinator and I come in and see the reception space one more time and to ask any questions that we had leading up to the day. This helped calm my nerves and helped me visualize how the space would look for my wedding day. The wedding day went smoothly and it would not have been possible without the staff at Pier 22. They were professional and I had multiple guests come up to me and state how nice everyone was. They handled the day wonderfully and it set my mind at ease. They made sure that every guest was taken care of and that my husband and I were happy throughout the night. In addition, the food was fresh and very tasty. I also had the venue provide the wedding cake, where I was able to pick the flavors and I have to say, it was delicious. I would definitely recommend the venue and staff if you are looking for a gorgeous view and for your wedding day to run smoothly. -

We had a wonderful experience with Pier 22 as our wedding caterer! The food was absolutely excellent . Everything was delicious, well-prepared, and served hot, which was really important to us. We received so many compliments from our guests about how good the meal was.
Kim, the Director of Catering, was very easy to work with and accommodated all of our requests and changes throughout the planning process. Their team was professional, organized, and kept everything running smoothly throughout dinner service.
We’re so grateful we chose Pier 22 for our wedding. They played a huge part in making our reception feel special, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable caterer with amazing food! -

We had an off site wedding in NW Bradenton, and Kim Straw was very professional, responsive, helpful, and met all of our needs. Angel was the captain and the staff were very professional. We couldn't have asked for better! All of the guests enjoyed the many heavy appetizer options we chose and commented on how wonderful the food was and how professional the staff was. They came and set up everything and cleaned up after the wedding. I would highly recommend Pierre 22 to everyone. Thank you so much for making our special day better.

We just had our wedding at Pier 22 last week and we truly couldn’t have asked for anything better. Hannah was so fun and easy to work with and provided so much support throughout and especially on the day of. The food is AMAZING and all support staff were so kind and on top of everything. While planning the details for catering I worked directly with Kim, the Director of Catering and Events. Kim responded in a timely manner to my emails and thoughtfully responded to my many inquiries. Pier 22 provided the meals, bar and cake which were all amazingly delicious. On the day of my wedding, the catering staff was so incredibly kind, thorough and extremely professional. Both my husband and I are so happy that we chose Pier 22 to cater our wedding as it’s where we had our first date and they’ve continued to provide us with amazing memories. -

We had the pleasure of working with Pier 22 for our wedding last weekend at the Powel Crosley Estate and our expectations were not only met but far exceeded! Kim was so helpful from beginning stages to day of ensuring each detail was perfect. We utilized pier 22 for all of our rentals (tables chairs liens lighting) and each were exactly what we were hoping for! It also made it so easy that Kim would coordinate each individual component of these rentals into one organized quote and document. The food and bar services were among the best I have ever seen at a wedding. We had a large wedding (200 guests) and the food was plated and delivered hot and amazingly delicious. Our guests have not stopped talking about how amazing the food was from cocktail hour to dinner and dessert. The servers working the event were all professional and very kind. We are so thankful that you all helped make our wedding day perfect. I wish I could give Pier 22 more than 5 stars- if you are considering using them for your wedding we 100% recommend. -

We had our wedding reception at Pier22 and it was the best experience ever. It was incredibly beautiful, the team was fantastic, and was all under our budget! All of our guests raved about each food dish and every bar drink. They all took the time to deliver quality food and drinks. Our cake was amazing. Working with Hannah was great. She really made this whole experience stress-free and really made sure everything was the way my husband and I wanted things. The ballroom was incredibly beautiful and I was particularly happy that we were able to have candles lit- it really created a beautiful ambiance. We recommend Pier22 to everyone who is looking for a unique venue on the water and on a budget. Thank you Pier 22 and Hannah Stevens! -

Most perfect wedding
You have GOT to use this catering company!! Jillian was there with me every step of the way. They way that she just handled every detail made this day the most perfect! When she had to leave, Katie stepped in and WOW- I felt like a celebrity. Every time I turned around, she was there asking what I needed. She was there for our entire wedding party as well. They RAVED about how awesome Katie was!! We will forever be using Pier 22 for catering in the future and I HIGHLY recommend to everyone, especially if you’re having an event at the Powel Crosley! -

Ali Sent on 12/11/2014My parents-in-law hosted our rehearsal dinner at Pier 22 in one of the main ballrooms and it was incredible.
Seriously, like a mini wedding. From what my mom-in-law told me, the whole crew from the manager to the waiters that were involved with the process were extremely kind, accommodating, helpful and just fabulous to work with. The view of the Manatee River is delightful, especially for all of our out of town guests. They were wowed by the whole venue, especially the patio veranda area with the twinkle lights. Everything in the ballroom was chosen with care, they provided all the tablecloths, glassware, etc. We had a delicious meal, open bar with my parents-in-law's microbrewery beer on hand (they were gracious in allowing them to provide that with no extra charge) and dessert, all which we were allowed to choose from a set menu. The atmosphere was classy, and well planned.
Thanks Pier 22 for giving us an awesome rehearsal dinner! Everyone loved it and we will definitely be back! -

The setup in the private room was outstanding and I loved the centerpieces they provided. I loved that our names were on our menus that had been preselected. I kept some as a momento of the evening. Service was excellent. Food was delicious and portions were plentiful. Really a dream to have our rehearsal dinner at Pier 22! -

Michelle, the events coordinator went above and beyond to make our day special and perfect, and I do mean perfect. First, she and I have been exchanging emails for the better part of a year during the planning process. She was very patient with my nervous bride questions and didn't ever make me feel as though I was a burden or crazy. She had ideas, and visions that I am so thankful for. Our space was outside on the terrace. That was my dream, was to have an outdoor wedding and reception and she made it happen. I told her what I hoped for, and she far exceeded my expectations. Her attention to detail is second to none. I didn't start to get emotional until while I was up in the ballroom looking down, I was able to see how she had it all set up and it was absolutely gorgeous. Gorgeous doesn't do it justice… more like breathtaking. The food was outstanding. I was told by many of our guests that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. I have attended a lot of weddings, and I have to agree, it was the best wedding food ever. It was also the best wedding ever, and I don't believe I'm being biased. I am so grateful to Michelle and her team. My husband and I will definitely go back to have dinners there. If you want an event that is well run, amazing, and beautiful… you need to go to Pier 22. -

Pier 22 & Kim were amazing from start to finish. Kim was always responsive to emails and so helpful when we had questions. The food was delicious. We had so many options to choose from, our guests loved all the food and the cake was beautiful. Our wedding was a dream and Pier 22 helped make it happened. We needed a tent last minute due to rain and Kim helped make it possible for us within 48 hours. Definitely recommend Pier 22 for anyone looking for an amazing vendor for their wedding. -

Pier 22 was the perfect venue for our wedding. The staff was accommodating from the beginning helping to build a menu and options that fit our budget. After months of planning I was able to hand everything over to Jillian the event Coordnator who set up the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception sites. She was there every step of the way and pier 22 turned into our dream wedding venue. Our guests had nothing but positive feedback and were shocked at how affordable this venue was. I had many guests assuming we paid more than double what our final cost was. Very impressed and would highly recommend for anyone looking to have a waterfront wedding -

I am not typically one to leave negative reviews, but given that this venue’s high rating was a deciding factor for us, I feel a responsibility to share how our experience drastically differed from the expectations by the glowing reviews.
While the venue is undeniably beautiful and the surrounding area is convenient for guests, the administrative side of this establishment is a "read the fine print" kind of venue.
Misleading Estimates: Despite our guest count dropping from an initial estimate of 150 to a final 110, our final bill was $6,000 higher than the initial quote—a 70% discrepancy. For couples on a strict budget, this lack of transparency could be devastating.
Fees & Restrictions: Be aware that "open bar" cocktail packages may still require a separate $3/person soft drink fee. Additionally, the open bar is capped at 4 hours including cocktail hour, with no option to extend.
Space Limitations: This venue is marketed as seating 250. This is misleading. The ballroom at Pier 22 comfortably seats 150, and even with that it would be a bit cramped in our opinion. The 250-capacity space is at an entirely different location.
Coordination and Professionalism (or Lack Thereof)
We worked with Hannah, and unfortunately, we found her to be unreliable and, at times, dismissive.
Restrictive: We were told "no" to almost every request (including standard items like cold sparklers, confetti, adding decor to walls, dancing on the clouds dry ice effect) until we demanded to speak to management. Suddenly, some of those restrictions vanished, suggesting the initial refusals were based on effort rather than policy.
Setup Failures: Despite written assurances that setup would be complete by 9:00 AM for our decorators, ceremony chairs weren't set-up until noon. My groomsmen actually had to move reception tables themselves so the dance floor could be installed by our vendor
Miscommunication of Clean up: In the middle of our reception, we were told to clear our cocktail hour decor because another event had been scheduled. This was never communicated to us or our vendors beforehand, forcing our team to leave our reception to move things.
Unprofessional: The most disappointing aspect was the lack of presence. During our setup, the coordinator was reportedly giving tours to other couples instead of managing our event. During the actual 4-hour reception, she was nowhere to be found.
The ceremony space is advertised as private, but the "privacy screen" is inadequate. Our vows were exchanged to the soundtrack of a full seating of restaurant diners who were close enough to stare directly at us throughout the ceremony.
Conclusion:
The combination of misleading marketing, logistical failures, and a total lack of post-event follow-up (not even a "thank you" or "how was your stay") has left us disheartened. We never even received what was left of our wedding cake, or any communication around that. We couldn't help but notice the stark difference between our treatment and the glowing reviews left by others; as a Black couple, the lack of basic professional courtesy felt pointed and exclusionary.
If you book here, hire an outside coordinator who is prepared to fight for you, because the internal management seems disinterested in delivering the experience they advertise.
