We opted to not have a wedding cake and we instead bought pies and small tarts for our guest.
There were almost no desserts left at the end of the event! It was the perfect alternative to cake or a traditional dessert bar. It was unique and everyone loved them.

This bakery is excellent. We have been long time customers and our favorite is the burnt almond cake. This time I got my wedding cake here, just a simple 3 tier traditional. Nothing fancy, as in fondant. It was delicious, everyone said they liked it. We also ordered a burnt almond sheet cake that was served as well so people could try it. The cake was white/white frosting, with a layer of strawberry, lemon, and frosting in the top. For this cake and the sheet cake it was very inexpensive. Yes you have to transport it yourself, but it was very easy to do and well worth it for this cake. This bakery is excellent. We have been long time customers and our favorite is the burnt almond cake. First, let me point out that Peter's Bakery is a general bakery, not a wedding cake specialist. So it is natural that their flexibility for wedding cakes was somewhat limited. If you want a super-fancy cake, this is not the place to go. But if you're looking for something decorated in a very traditional or simple manner, with basic flavors, Peter's can do that.

My fiance and I couldn't afford a cake from a specialist, so we looked for a local bakery with a good reputation. We found that Peter's had been in business since 1936, and the shop was humming with customers every time we visited. Long story short, they made us a 3-tier stacked white cake with blue buttercream frosting and white ribbons for a ridiculously low price. One layer with chocolate filling and two layers with strawberry filling.
Peter's Bakery does NOT deliver, but they do provide you with a foam platform thing to help ensure steady cake transportation. The staff was very knowledgeable about transportation and everything else I asked about. The cake was ready on time, was exactly as ordered, and looked very nice. The service at Peter's was excellent.
The cake was tasty, but a little bit dry. We saved the top layer, froze it, and ate it a few months later; it was also dry and didn't freeze too well. Overall the taste was good but not great. However, for the price they quoted us, I was quite satisfied. -

I have been going to this bakery since I was a little girl - for their amazing almond cake... which I wanted to have as our wedding cake. After taking a look at the price tag I had to come up with a different plan, our budget for the cake was not our #1 priority and we were willing to have something simple to cut the cost there. Unfortunately, we got what we paid for. The cake was simple on the outside, which was fine - but it was too simple on the inside. We ended up with so much leftover cake, because no one wanted seconds. In hindsight, I would have gotten a smaller/simple cake and gone for...I have been going to this bakery since I was a little girl - for their amazing almond cake... which I wanted to have as our wedding cake. In hindsight, I would have gotten a smaller/simple cake and gone for the sheets of my favorite flavor to be sliced up behind the scenes.
No complaints about the wonderful service or their willingness to make it under my budget guidelines... -
