Highly recommend!

Pete did a fabulous job playing the ceremony and cocktail hour of our wedding! He is extremely professional and knows his craft. My wife and I provided minimal instruction regarding the music selection and were not disappointed. The combination of Jazz standards and Latin classical charts were exactly the flavors needed to elevate our special day.

Beautiful music

Pete is amazing!! We hired Pete as a solo guitarist for our ceremony and cocktail hour on 10/18/19. He was very responsive to my emails and provided suggestions and feedback when I was unable to pick a song to walk down the aisle to. His music is beautiful and he added an extra special element to our wedding that our guests loved! :)

Excellent guitarist and wonderful music!

Pete played at my son's wedding this past week and we couldn't be happier. He was super easy to work with and he was very accommodating! He is an excellent guitarist! He played with Ted Lis on sax and the music was wonderful! We received so many compliments from our guest in the choice of music! I highly recommend Pete!

Perfect for our wedding

Pete did an amazing job performing our ceremony and cocktail hour, and we would wholeheartedly recommend him!

We selected Pete, because we thought his musical style was unique compared to the other musicians we considered. His songs emphasize a fingerstyle type of playing which we thought sounded beautiful, and kept finding ourselves really drawn to.

Prior to the ceremony, we appreciated our communications with Pete. He was thorough, informative, and very helpful in helping us understand how to organize our musical selections throughout the prelude, processional, and recessional, in addition to the cocktail hour. The musical clips on his website were helpful, but we were leaning towards a couple songs that didn't include audio clips, so he was kind enough to record and send us a couple ad hoc samples to help give us a better idea of how the songs would sound (we ended up choosing those songs, "Iris" and "Sweet Child of Mine" for our processional and recessional).

On the day of, he was punctual, actually being the first vendor to arrive, and his performance was outstanding. The ceremony songs were just as we imagined, and although we missed a lot of our cocktail hour, we really enjoyed the few songs we got a chance to hear. We received compliments from multiple guests on Pete's performance, and were thrilled we were able to incorporate his music into our festivities. Thank you Pete!

Awesomeness!!

Pete played solo acoustic for our ceremony and reception - it was a smaller affair (about 45) and we left it to Pete to choose all the music. His song selection was perfect, as was his attendance throughout the day. Everyone knew there was music, but because it was so tastefully played it blended in with the conversation and party in just the right way. We would not hesitate to recommend Pete! He is very good at what he does!!

Pete was so professional and kind. With so much to do for a wedding, it was so nice to have Pete keep me on track with his expertise. His music was incredible and perfect!

Music helped make to day perfect!

Highly Recommend!

We were so glad we hired Pete to bring some live music to our wedding! He was incredibly easy to work with and offered a broad variety of music to choose from. He was quick, responsive and the utmost professional. Day of he sounded just as great as he does online. One of our guests even commented that they thought we had recorded music, it sounded so good! Was a special touch to add to our special day and we highly recommend for any event.

Exactly the Guitarist We Were Looking For!

I discovered Pete through TheKnot.com as one of best ceremony musicians, and he did NOT disappoint! To be honest, I was pretty set on getting him, regardless of price. I watched a few of his YouTube videos watching him play "fingerstyle" renditions of my bride's favorite songs and I was hooked. We had him play Glen Hansard, Clapton, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, and even a little country, and it all meshed together so well. I could not have been more pleased with the sound and it gave the perfect background music to our guests arriving, it was simple and elegant, and perfectly highlighted the atmosphere we wanted to create. Thankfully, Pete does a great job at pricing himself out competitively. While I had to have him for the ceremony, it turned out that his pricing was just barely over what I would have paid my DJ to plug an iPod into a speaker to use for ceremony music. The difference between an iPod experience and what Pete delivered on our big day would have been vastly different, and I am so glad we had Pete Smyser for our wedding. Pete was fantastic to work with since day one for our wedding! He always responded quickly to emails and any questions we had throughout the process. His music selection was very comprehensive for any style we wanted (we went with contemporary). We had positive feedback from our pastor whom Pete talked to about how the ceremony would run for timing, and we had great feedback from guests as well as how much they enjoyed the music for both ceremony and cocktail hour. The ceremony music was just what I had hoped for as well, absolutely beautiful. Pete was a pleasure to work with and my husband and I highly recommend!

We had Pete play solo guitar at our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. What a pleasure the whole experience was - he was prompt and professional in all of his communications, and the music was everything I was looking for. Nearly everyone took the time to tell us how brilliant his playing was during the reception; it was wonderful to have such great music as the aural backdrop for our evening, keeping us entertained while allowing us to talk and laugh with our friends and family. We were so happy we had Pete play at our wedding ceremony! We received several compliments from our guests saying how wonderful he sounded! We watched our wedding video and hearing him play during the main entrances, it was great! His prices are affordable and the best we found. Pete is TOP NOTCH! He's a talented musician and a helpful vendor - Pete helped us choose our ceremony music and had a lot of great suggestions. He was super flexible too (we ended up changing venues and times, and while a few of our vendors grumbled, Pete was super cool and just sent us a new contract). Pete provided guitar and flute music for our ceremony, and a jazz band for our cocktail hour. My ONLY regret is not having Pete play for the entire reception as well!

Pete Smyser played solo guitar for my daughter's wedding ceremony and during the cocktail hour. His entire quintet played for my daughter's afternoon wedding reception. We couldn't have asked for a more consummate professional in Pete. During the planning stages, Pete was very responsive to each and every question. He would call or email promptly to answer a question. My daughter and I were fortunate to hear Pete play his guitar with saxophonist, Ted Lis, several years earlier, and we absolutely loved their beautiful music. Pete and Ted, along with the entire quintet, are really a dream team of musicians, and provided just the perfect touch of sophisticated, smooth jazz for the wedding reception.

Pete was an excellent partner and really made our ceremony! He was responsive, professional, and easy to work with throughout the process. On the day of, he played beautifully (we got lots of compliments), and was flexible in adding a few extra songs of his choice when our ceremony started a bit late. His list of songs is extensive and covers a ton of styles, and they all sound great! We highly recommend working with him.

Pete Smysers talent is unparalleled across a broad catalog of genres and styles. We hired Pete to play acoustic guitar with a violinist for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. I can't think of anything that was less than perfect in my experience working with Pete. He is a wonderful talented musician with a large repertoire to choose from. He was very responsive to my emails and provided us with samples of his music on his website. We received so many compliments from our guests about the music. I honestly wish I was a guest so I could have sat down and listened to the whole performance. If you're looking for live music for your event, no need to look any further, Pete is the WHOLE package.

Pete was amazing and I would highly recommend him. He's one vendor we were super excited about, and we were not disappointed! We hired him to play solo guitar for 30 minutes of prelude music and then our ceremony music. His rates were reasonable, he has an extensive song list, and he plays beautifully. We got many compliments about him and how beautiful the music was. Also, working with Pete was so easy. He was very responsive and professional. Would absolutely recommend him to anyone. I just wish that, on our wedding day, I was able to enjoy his music more--instead of hiding in the bridal lounge during the prelude!

Pete was amazing, I only wish I was a guest so I could have listened to more of his music! He was great to work with and responded quickly to all of my emails. Upon booking he went ahead and recorded my entrance song which was absolutely breathtaking. As a professional musician, I'm rather picky about these things... Pete was absolutely perfect as the solo guitarist for our wedding reception/luncheon. Pete was excellent to work with. He was very professional and easy to stay in contact with during the whole process leading up to our wedding. We weren't able to hear Pete play live prior to the wedding but listened to all his music on his website and on the day of the wedding I think it exceeded our expectations. If you are unsure about hiring someone without meeting them first I would highly recommend going for it! Pete also played for our cocktail hour and although we did not get to hear much of it as the bride and groom, we heard from the guests that the music was the perfect volume and style for the cocktail hour. I was very appreciative of the fact that Pete took the time to come and find us before he left because I had been hoping for the opportunity to officially meet him and thank him!

My husband and I are so happy to have had Pete Smyser play the guitar for our wedding ceremony. It was the perfect touch to a special day. Pete can play anything. He can play classical music, contemporary and jazz, too. He has so many song choices to help personalize the event. It was hard to choose, however Pete communicated very well to help us determine which music best suited our taste and which songs best fit the venue and day. Not only is Pete a talented musician, he pays attention to details such as attire, parking, seating and guest amount. He coordinated with the officiant and wedding planner to confirm when to begin the processional and recessional music. Pete is very thorough. His prices were very reasonable as well. I hired Pete to play for my ceremony, along with a violinist. They played for a total of one hour, starting when the guests were being seated and ending with the recessional after the ceremony. Overall they were terrific! Pete was very easy to work with and got in touch with me right away to talk about the details of the ceremony and the type of music I wanted. My preferences for the ceremony music were traditional, but he could have played many different genres of music. Pete got in touch with me again six weeks before the wedding to finalize all of the details, and on the actual day everything went exactly as planned, and the music was beautiful! My party was a send off for my son going into the Navy. There were age ranges from 20's to 80's. Pete was the perfect choice for this event. Pete was incredible not only as a performer for our wedding, but also as someone who shows care and concern in delivering a personalized and enjoyable experience.

Some of the highlights of my experience I want to mention are:

We were aggressive in our song choices and had various questions (wedding anxiety!). Pete was able to work with us and consult with us to ensure we were able to get the core songs we wanted to play and to make sure they flowed together seamlessly.

We worked with him for his solo guitar service, but he does have partners for duets, quartets, etc. in unique and elegant combinations of instruments and style. Our experience was unique, a little unconventional (in a good way) and we were incredibly pleased. Many of our guests never experienced a solo classical guitarist for a wedding, but the complements kept coming for days.

I learned about Pete through my mother, a concert pianist with very discriminating taste in music, who heard Pete play at her friend's wedding years ago. When my fiance and I started wedding planning, my mom immediately suggested we hire Pete. He provided solo guitar music for our ceremony, and it was absolutely perfect! I selected a couple of jazz standards for the processional, and had a pretty specific idea of how I wanted the song for my entrance to sound--Pete created just the right mood with his beautiful playing! I was a little nervous about walking down the aisle to jazz, because it's not super traditional, but Pete really knows what he is doing. The processional music felt perfectly bridal!
Pete also provided the music for my cocktail hour (jazz quartet). They sounded amazing, and I got a lot of comments from guests (some of them jazz musicians themselves) about the quality of the music.

We hired Pete to play guitar at our wedding ceremony at the Cauffiel House in Wilmington, Delaware on 9/6/14. I really loved the music selections he offered, and ultimately chose mostly country music for our ceremony (for example, I walked down the aisle to the Tennessee Waltz). The music was absolutely beautiful and made the experience for our guests--and our wedding video--really special. Pete was incredibly accommodating--first, because we had to relocate our wedding reception three weeks before our wedding due to a fire code violation, and second, because thunderstorms interrupted our outdoor ceremony. Pete very kindly accepted these curve balls and provided us with excellent music nonetheless.

We hired Mr. Smyer to perform at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. He is an absolutely amazing musician, and was a pleasure to work with! His music provided the perfect ambiance for both the ceremony and the cocktail hour. His song list is quite extensive. Many of our guests were captivated by his song-playing during the cocktail hour. Pete is very precise in making sure that he has every detail exactly right. It was very reassuring to see a vendor make sure every last detail was right. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been able to book Pete for our wedding! His musical ability and professionalism are unparalleled!

Pete performed at our ceremony and cocktail hour and was awesome! I highly recommend him. Pete was very helpful in the music selection process and is a very talented musician. We are fortunate enough to live close by so that we have the opportunity to hear him play. The music was wonderful and romantic and everything we were looking for. Pete was actually the very first vendor we booked when we were planning our wedding. We wanted something different than the usual quartet, and we both love guitar. But the kicker was when I checked Pete's playlist on his (very detailed and helpful website!) and saw "our song" on his list.

From the very first point of contact, Pete was a complete professional. You can't go wrong with him -- not only is he extremely talented, but he's also a business man with impeccable customer service. He gave us a wide-range of musical styles to choose from and lent our wedding day a very special touch. It's also obvious he loves what he does -- every photo we have shows him playing with a smile!

Our family has had Pete play at numerous parties (Wedding Rehearsals, Wedding Anniversaries, Retirement Parties, etc.) over the years and every time he performs it is fantastic--Pete and saxophone player Ted are now considered honorary family members. Their quality of work and professionalism are second to none. Every time they perform we hear such great feedback from our guests.

For years it has been our pleasure to know Pete Smyser and have him perform at our home many times for various parties. He is a great guitarist, professional, gentlemen and we consider him our friend.

Pete provided the music (solo guitarist) for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. He played beautifully, and we received many compliments from the guests. Pete was great to work with. He is super helpful in selecting the music, providing various options. He is also very responsive. From the first communication Pete's correspondence was very speedy and clear. He reached out to me prior to the event and showed up an hour early to set up. His overall service was outstanding and we couldn't be more happy with it.

Pete was sensational. His music contributed to the elegance of our event. Pete played at a jubilee brunch with guests aged from 24 to 86 and all thoroughly enjoyed his music and the song selections. He asked our crowd size and brought appropriate amplification to ensure that the volume was perfect. He is professional and extremely talented.

When a close friend died, his family asked me to conduct a memorial service for him. It was not to be a religious service because this good man did not think much of organized religion. I had never done anything like that. As I thought about how much my friend had loved music, especially jazz, I decided to do the service as a series of short comments about him interspersed with music that he would have appreciated. The musician who immediately came to mind was guitarist Pete Smyser. I had seen him perform in concert at Moravian College, where he taught, at the Woodmere Art Museum as part of their jazz series, and in other venues. And whether it was as the leader of a quintet or as a duo or solo performer, Pete always seemed to have just the right type of music and to play brilliantly. The service ended up being like this: As people arrived and greeted the family, Pete played soft classical pieces. I talked about my friend’s great interest in the Civil War, then Pete played “Ashokan Farewell”, the song used in the television series about the war. I described my friend’s love of bird watching, and Pete played “Lullaby of Birdland”. I then talked about how fine a parent my friend had been, and as an introduction to the moving reflections on their father by my friend’s daughters, I recited the words of “Look Over There” from “Le Cage Aux Folles” (the most beautiful song I know of about a parent’s love of a child), and between the verses, Pete played the parts of the song that went with those words. At the end of the service, and as long as people were paying their final respects to the family Pete played “Danny Boy”, as a nod to my friend’s Irish heritage. After the service, the family and people in attendance commented on how beautiful it had been. I should note that several of pieces I had chosen were ones that Pete had not played before, and even though I had given him only two days’ notice, he prepared lovely arrangements of them.

Pete was our ceremony and cocktail musician for our wedding this weekend, and we could not have asked for a better or more professional guitarist! He was extremely flexible, and we have received numerous compliments from our guests on his abilities. The music was simple and atmospheric, and we are nothing short of thrilled with how perfectly his music fit the venue and our ceremony. He was extremely easy to work with, and we would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a true artist!

Pete was incredibly professional during our wedding ceremony. He had a very extensive list of music to choose from and was very easy to work with prior to the ceremony. Peter Smyser was the perfect musician to have at my wedding ceremony. He was professional, helpful, accessible, and had a great sound. His music set the tone for a formal yet relaxed atmosphere. He arrived and was set up, ready to play well before the guests started to arrive. I could not have asked for a more perfect choice in music than what he played. Pete did an amazing job with our ceremony music! He is so talented and I got a ton of compliments on his work. He is also extremely professional and organized, he was probably the easiest person to work with out of all of the vendors we used for our wedding. I would highly recommend him!
