    Owen Chapel is beautiful

Owen Chapel is a beautiful church to marry in. Ms. Margaret is so sweet and truly wants you to have the most perfect wedding day. She is always willing to show you the church and answer any questions. It was perfect for our wedding.

To note: you do need to pick up Ms. Margaret and transfer her to and from the church day of and for the rehearsal (lives down the road from the church). You also need to vacuum the sanctuary and take any trash from the building with you.

Love, Love, Love this wedding site! It is perfect for an intimate wedding. It is rich in history, and is beautiful on it's own. It does not need much decorating.

The chapel was beautiful! All we added were some candles down the rows and that's all we needed. Love Miss Margaret!

This is a beautiful, historic church in Brentwood. They could easily charge more for the rental of their building but they don't believe in that. They charge a simple $250 fee but it books up fast. Call the lovely Mrs. Reed at 615-377-6474 for more information. But be prepared...she likes to talk :o)

Owen Chapel is a quaint little no-nonsense chapel built in the late 1800's. Any denomination can marry there for $250. You get the chapel key the week before your wedding so you are free to set up and tear down based on your own schedule. Miss Margaret, the chapel manager is a hoot. She'll talk you're ear off - in a really sweet way!

For us, it was a perfect venue. For those brides wanting a church wedding, but do not belong to a parish, I highly suggest this chapel.

Owen Chapel is an old, historic church building, built in 1860. It's just beautiful. There are two red doors on the front of the building, which were originally for women/children and men to enter the building separately. The pews inside are original the structure, including a partial partition down the center of the middle set of pews. The partition originally scaled from floor to ceiling, separating men from women and children. Not only is this place a real gem visually, but it's also a steal economically!! I believe we paid $200 to reserve the building for a Friday and Saturday, but they let you have the key at the beginning of the week to do any decorating necessary over the span of the week. The building probably holds about 200 people (we think that's about how many we had, and it was pretty much packed out), but be sure the AC works! It froze at one temp and wouldn't come back on for us, so everyone was burning up in June. All in all, for the price and the visual aesthetic, this place is absolutely worth it all. It's quaint, simple, and stunningly unique. I should be clear...we used this building only for the wedding ceremony. We had friends who married there and used the grounds outside for the reception - they set up a few white tents, and it was very beautiful. We, however, needed some place w/air conditioning, so we used another church a couple miles away.

Mrs. Margaret and the Altar seal the deal!

If you are an out of town bride looking for a church wedding - this is your place!

Renting the church requires two checks (deposit that will be returned to you and the actual payment.) payment is minuscule for the gorgeous venue you are receiving. You do not have to be a member.

Call Mrs. Margaret to schedule a viewing to see the church. Be prepared to chat a while - she is an immigrant that married a soldier after WWII and followed him here. Her stories are fascinating and sweet.

Assign an aunt, mom, or responsible family friend to pick up Mrs Margaret for rehearsal and ceremony. She was a delight to work with and gave us plenty of rehearsal time and time before ceremony for pictures. Room for x8 bridesmaids and bride to hide before ceremony.

Church is bright white with minimalistic features. You are allowed to decorate but won't need much because the altar speaks for its self - no candles. The windows have fake candles in them.

Small town feel with big city accommodations.

Owen Chapel is a quaint, sweet place to get married & very inexpensive compared to most other venues. Ms.Reed is very nice to work with and very on top of things. The only thing I would change is I wish I had more time after the wedding to take enough pictures. We were kind-of rushed out of the church & my marriage certificate was almost thrown away because of that - but regardless, this is a super sweet place to get married!

I loved Owen Chapel! Ms. Margaret was absolutely a breath of fresh air to communicate with. I did not have my reception here because of the lack of available space, but the environment and setting was PERFECT for my wedding! The price for this venue is extremely affordable and was overall one of the best choices I made throughout my planning.

We married at Owen Chapel in April 2016. I was very excited to book this venue because it is gorgeous, close to our reception venue, and had an intimate feel. I met with the caretaker, Ms. Margaret, at least three (3) times before our big day. I also spoke to her on the phone several times as we were originally planning to marry in October 2015, and changed the date - she was great about everything! She was always a joy to speak with, very warm when I saw her (hugs all around) and we loved her! I felt great about my choice until after the wedding. Let say that we are an African-American company and our guests were predominately the same. Everyone raved about the intimate feel of the space and how lovely the wedding was, but what I next learned was shocking and very heartbreaking. After the wedding I designated a few family and friends to stay behind and make sure everything was tidy. Ms. Margaret explained that we can move some things out of the sanctuary for the wedding, but that everything had to be replaced after the event. So, they agreed to move personal church member items like special Bibles, seat cushions, 1 - 2 pedestals, etc., and then return them afterwards. I thought it was all done and fine. A few weeks later one of them told me that while they were tidying up Ms. Margaret praised their work because "colored people" are really good at cleaning. She then made them vacuum the entire sanctuary and take all the trash with them, meaning that they not only had to pick up tissue or water battles, but also take trash bags in their car when they left. I did not see this anywhere in the contract nor was I told this before I booked. I was furious and embarrassed that this would happen on such an important day for our entire family. I apologized to all of my family and I cried because I was ashamed. I chose this church and never got that vibe from her before our wedding date. If so, I would have gone somewhere else. I can not recommend this place
