Perfect Wedding Venue
We cannot say enough wonderful things about Onteora Mountain House and the incredible team behind it, especially Jeremy and Dylan. Our wedding weekend was nothing short of magical, and a significant part of that is due to the venue's stunning beauty and the exceptional service we received.
The pictures simply don't do this place justice. The venue is breathtaking, offering a perfect blend of luxury and rustic charm. The outdoor spaces are simply stunning, providing a picturesque backdrop for our ceremony and reception.
Jeremy was incredibly accommodating and flexible throughout the entire planning process. He was always quick to respond to our questions and concerns, and he went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing weekend. The vendors were also very happy to work with the venue team, as they were so attentive and helpful.
Dylan and the rest of the team at Onteora Mountain House were attentive and professional throughout the entire weekend. They anticipated our needs and went out of their way to make sure everything ran smoothly. We felt truly pampered and taken care of.
If you're looking for a luxury event space with a beautiful, rustic outdoor setting and amazingly attentive staff, we highly recommend Onteora Mountain House. We wouldn't change a thing about our experience there. -

Our DREAM Venue -- Exceeded all expectations!
Our absolute dream venue! Not only is the location stunning (with PLENTY of areas for our guests and us to take scenic pictures), but Jeremy and Dylan could not have been more amazing - working with them has been a highlight of the wedding planning process. They are so helpful, providing a bunch of resources including a short book customized to the venue. Their mindset is also very much of a “how can we make this work” vs. “no we cannot do it” when it comes to creative ideas or add-on’s for our wedding. Jeremy is also extremely organized, prompt to respond and has a very upbeat and professional attitude throughout the entire process. The venue’s regular vs “rain plan” options were also very compelling to the point where we weren’t concerned about what the weather looked like two weeks in advance - we were excited about both options! In addition, the food provided by Blue Mountain Catering was spectacular and we received many compliments from our guests on the day of and after the wedding! The menu trial day was also one of the most fun days that we had! It’s no wonder that Onteora Mountain House has been a beloved venue for decades! The service and team could not have been more polite and attentive. Finally, we loved the option of being able to stay on site with our family and friends. It really made the wedding weekend feel like a getaway weekend and was a massive leg-up when it came to coordinating the day before and the day of. The breakfast they serve is also delicious. You can’t go wrong choosing Onteora! Photos are credited to Alicia King Photography (https://aliciakingphotography.com/) with the exception of the last 3 photos.-

The wedding venue of our dreams!
Onteora Mountain House was everything we dreamed of and more out of our wedding venue! The moment we saw it, we knew it was perfect—a beautiful blend of a formal event space with a touch of rustic charm. Jeremy, Dylan and the entire staff were incredible, taking care of every detail and making sure we and our families felt at home. The on-site hotel rooms were perfect for our immediate family, and the rehearsal dinner went off seamlessly in the same beautiful space. The backdrop for our ceremony was absolutely stunning, and our guests couldn't stop raving about the picturesque setting, smores by the fire pit, and the indoor/outdoor flow of the reception. The Blue Mountain Bistro catering team was amazing too—everyone loved their meals. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to celebrate and for Onteora’s help throughout the planning process! -

The perfect wedding in the mountains
Onteora was our perfect venue for our 10/8/23 wedding! We loved how it looked online, but there is no comparison to visiting in person. Jeremy was very responsive leading up to our wedding day and helped us with any question or idea we had. We had games and a coffee cart and Jeremy helped to coordinate all of the logistics. The day of, I was so impressed by how helpful all of the staff were. They truly have weddings down to a science! It rained before our ceremony and they were out with a squeegee and towel cleaning off the seats moments before our guests arrived - all of these little touches added up! All of my vendors and family noted how helpful everyone was. Being able to stay on the property made the magic last even longer, and the morning after brunch was just as wonderful as the night before! Although I planned my wedding myself, it felt like I had all the support I needed from Onteora. -

The best venue, hands down.
I cannot say enough how thankful I am that we decided on this venue. It is, of course, stunning. The scenery stands for itself. However, the top selling factor here is Bob & Jeremy who run the place. They were simply fantastic. Even as a couple planning from abroad, they always got back to us quickly and gave honest guidance based on their vast experience. Upon signing the contract, I got a bridal handbook which contained so much information and guidance that I could refer to throughout the planning process. Additionally, we had to postpone 2 times due to COVID, and they worked with us to help make our wedding day there come true. I didn’t need a day-of coordinator either because Jeremy was on it every step of the way. I cannot emphasize enough how much this was the best place for us. Throughout the whole process and even after I repeatedly said: I am so glad we chose Onteora! (And if you're lucky enough to meet Charlie, well, he can also sell the place in a heartbeat.) -

Stunning Venue, Great food, Dream Wedding!
Wow. This venue blew us away. Jeremy was so helpful through the planning process, and Bob (while a bit eccentric) was not lying about the beauty and smoothness with which this place runs. It felt truly magical. The setup of the ceremony and reception was perfect, as they offered lemonade and water to early arrival guests, greeted people with signature cocktails after the ceremony, and had really friendly staff all around. During our tasting, one server we chatted with said that she decided to come back to work at Onteora not because she needed to but because of how much she loved it. The food from Blue Mountain Bistro was also incredible, and Jeremy managed to communicate a lot of complicated food requests to our guests successfully. We got the Beet Salad, Chicken Marsala, Salmon Dijonnaise, and the Risotto cake for vegetarians all of which were truly delicious. And the passed appetizers during cocktail hour were also amazing -- particularly the stuffed mushrooms and tuna tare tare. The dance floor was definitely sufficient for our needs, but I cold see for larger weddings that it might be a bit crowded if you expect most people are dancing. The extras do add up to make this place a bit high cost, but all in all we HIGHLY recommend this venue!!! -

There were many many many times we felt beyond thankful to have chosen Onteora
We were originally slated to get married at Onteora in Aug 2020, and eventually had our wedding there in Aug 2021. Through the nearly two (tumultuous) years as we postponed and then planned and had a wedding during the pandemic, there were many many many times we felt beyond thankful to have chosen Onteora.
Bob and Jeremy were amazing. We were so thankful to have practical, honest, down to earth individuals who answered a zillion of our questions, offering their helpful advice (often with a humorous twist) from decades of weddings, and making all kinds of accommodations to make our wedding perfect. (Jeremy even arranged for awesome apples from his farm stand for our welcome bags.)
We and our guests had an amazing time - everything was gorgeous, smooth and delicious. Some of our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to, and that some of the appetizers were the best wedding food they had ever had. It’s a beautiful place, and we’re already excited to try to return to the B&B for anniversaries. (We stayed at Onteora for the tasting weekend and a few extra nights before/after the wedding - highly recommended.)
Thank you Bob and Jeremy!

Beautiful, Scenic Venue!!!
My fiancé and I booked Onteora Mountain House for our wedding next June and words can not describe how excited we are to be wedded at this beautiful venue! Robert was a such a pleasure to work with, including his pup, Charlie! The moment we stepped onto the grounds, we knew that this was where we wanted to get married. -

Our August wedding was more magical than we could have imagined. Everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Working with Jeremy made the process a breeze. Onteora has a streamlined process in place to organize a wedding efficiently, but also leaves room for the special touches that allow your wedding’s personal theme to shine through. We loved having the venue to ourselves from Friday through Sunday, and opted to host our rehearsal dinner (35 people) and Sunday brunch (100 people) there, all of which were delightful. We loved that our family dogs celebrated with us, since Onteora is pet-friendly. Onteora is so peaceful and secluded that your entire wedding will feel like a dream - very different than your typical commercialized wedding venue. We loved having the ceremony and cocktail hour outside, and the surrounding landscape provided an incredible backdrop for photos. If we had to go back and do it all over again, we would still choose Onteora in a heartbeat.-

Onteora Mountain House was the perfect venue for our dream wedding. Every detail was executed perfectly. I am very organized and detail-oriented and I was afraid that something would be missed, but nothing at all was! I wouldn't change a single detail. The whole staff is so thoughtful and makes sure everything runs beautifully and smooth.
I loved the ceremony site, that the whole weekend was ours to host a rehearsal dinner, wedding and brunch, and the overall serenity that takes over you the second you step onto the grounds. The feeling is indescribable.
Pictures can't even capture the magic of the grounds. The house and rooms are comfortable, updated and superb! Our parents and family loved hanging out in the house, game room and by the fire pit. They also loved the seated breakfast for both Saturday and Sunday, it was nice to have time together with a delicious breakfast (which is important to eat the day of your wedding!)
Jeremy is a dream to work with, he goes above and beyond and really nails every detail! He was a perfect day-of coordinator, and kept us on-time and was a calm and strong force for the day! I was debating back and forth about getting a planner and with Jeremy, it is not needed! He answers every question before and during the wedding and really knows EVERYTHING to ask and organize.
The food was fantastic and tasty! The tasting that they host was great to be able to pick our appetizers, entrees, sides, cake and desserts. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Our cake was beautiful and people ate 2-3 slices each!
If this venue has your requested date available, RUN don't walk to take that date! You will not regret it.-

If you're lucky enough to get a date on Onteora's schedule, take it! This venue and their staff have it all. You can already see from the pictures how idyllic the scenery is. And I dare say it's even more striking in person. Your guests will not stop telling you how beautiful the grounds and pavilion are. But this venue is more than its good looks. It is a well-oiled machine. Peace of mind is everything when it comes to wedding planning, so you want vendors you can trust. You can depend on Bob and Jeremy 100% to make things run smoothly. I actually hired an independent wedding planner, and after all was said and done, I would have been better off just working directly with the Onteora staff myself - they're that good! Finally, it rained nonstop the day of our wedding, but that didn't spoil things at all because Onteora was fully equipped to handle the weather. When I first toured this venue, having a rain back-up was a high priority for me. The rain plan-B is just as beautiful as the outdoor plan-A. As it happened, that turned out to be critical. And the rain actually creates a very beautiful effect on the surrounding mountains. If you choose Onteora, you'll have an incredible wedding and you and your guests will be delighted. -

Where to start. As locals (I'm from Shandaken and my husband is from Woodstock), my husband and I know the Mountains like the backs of our hands, and wanted a venue that reflected our love of the area and also showcased and supported the local people and local vendors. Jeremy (the Manager/Wedding coordinator/provider of all things) is AMAZING. He is supremely organized, calm, and respectful. He works with you to make sure every detail is accommodated, even if it's not included and is something additional. You work with him throughout the entire planning process, and you never feel like there is anything left out or forgotten. Your day is constructed and built up around you, your personality, and your preferences, and on the day, it's truly magical to watch it all come together. On the day of our Wedding, every person on staff was helpful, respectful, sweet, and patient. You can tell they put up with a lot, given the high demands of brides and grooms these days, and they still treated our Wedding like it was extremely special and the actual day was just a joy to experience. The setting at the Mountain House is an amazing, no-words type of beauty. Even having lived in those Mountains my whole life, the views took my breath away. We were lucky enough to have had a beautiful clear day, but even misty/rainy days are gorgeous at the Mountain House and they are clearly very prepared for any type of bad weather. We are beyond grateful and so thrilled with our choice of Onteora and absolutely had the Wedding of our dreams. -

Our daughter's July 2017 wedding was perfect in every way thanks to Bob, Jeremy, and the professional staff at Onteora. The setting is unbelievable but the service is even more breathtaking. They were calm, accommodating and wise and made everything easy and beautiful for us. Our friends and family, who came from all over the world, raved about the gorgeous views and friendly staff. Jeremy even changed a flat tire for a guest without missing a beat! We will be forever grateful. -

Bob and Jeremy made our wedding weekend absolutely perfect. The beauty of the house and location is unparalleled and the staff was exceptional. We loved having all of friday and saturday and sunday brunch to spend with our families and friends. The food was incredible and the drinks were plentiful and delicious. They were very accomodating and helped us plan the ceremony and reception on separate days. Everything was executed perfectly and they had excellent suggestions for nearby lodging and vendors. We are filled with incredible memories from that entire weekend. We are so happy we chose to get married at Onteora and could not imagine a better experience! We would recommend Onteora to everyone and anyone for any occasion! -

Seriously: Get. Married. Here. From the moment my husband and I stepped foot onto the property on our first visit, Onteora took our breath away. From the sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains to the gorgeous inn and lodge area, we instantly fell in love with this site for our mini-destination wedding from Brooklyn. But not only is Onteora exceptionally beautiful -- it's also incredibly easy to work with their staff. Bob and Jeremy, the coordinators, were highly professional, accessible, accommodating, and kind. The planning was as stress-free as could be, because of their incredible attention to detail -- and the day itself went off without a hitch.
Thank you Onteora for the wedding of our dreams! We are forever grateful. -

They made it seamless, especially when planning long distance (Manhattan). There is just something beyond wonderful about this place - truly a gem in every respect. Onteora is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and we still can't get over how gorgeous our wedding was. We got married during a light mist of rain, and the grounds took on a dreamy, intimate quality that made for gorgeous photos and cool, comfortable guests.
We were so happy and busy that we forgot to eat, and the staff were kind enough to make us a plate of entrees. The appetizers, main course, cake and desserts were all superb - we haven't stopped thinking about it. Also, the breakfast at Onteora is delightful. The crepes are some of the best we've ever had, and we love crepes.
Throughout the process, Bob and Jeremy were pleasures to work with. They are smart and dry-witted and relaxed because they know what they are doing. It was nice to be in such capable hands for the best day of our lives. -

The Onteora Mountain House was the perfect location for our wedding. As my photographer described, it was "rustic and chic, natural and posh all at once". My husband and I visited the Mountain House twice before our wedding and it was raining both times, but it will still so beautiful we knew it would be unbelievable if the weather was nice on our day.
So many of our guests have said it was the best venue they have ever attended a wedding. The food was amazing, the views spectacular, the reception room is gorgeous and so much better than a typical ballroom. I can't imagine our wedding having been so perfect if it had been anywhere else.
Bob & Jeremy are great to work with as well. Bob makes sure every detail goes off without a hitch, and Jeremy is so attentive to anything you could possibly need. From the momemt we arrived Friday until we left Sunday afternoon we felt like royalty. It was the most amazing weekend of our lives! -

Our wedding was three weeks ago, and we're still getting calls and e-mails from our friends and family telling us how beautiful the venue was and what a great time they had. My husband and I initially thought we wanted a rustic, barn-style wedding, but after first looking at those options in the tri-state area, we found Onteora and fell in love. The views are incredible and so much more special than a barn wedding would have been. We were initially concerned with how far it was from the city, but there were more accommodation/rehearsal dinner/transportation options than we expected, and the scenery made it well worth the drive.
Jeremy (the manager) has an incredible knack for details. Whether it was getting a certain mixer for my husband's favorite drink, setting up the name cards table perfectly, using walkie-talkies with the rest of the staff to ensure our ceremony ran smoothly, or a thousand other things, he made us feel special and confident that we were in good hands. Every time we asked for something, his answer was always, "Sure, whatever you need."
The food was great, both at the reception and a breakfast we hosted the next day. We planned our wedding from a distance, so having everything included in one place (food, rentals, liquor, cake, etc.) made our lives so much easier. Having to look for a linen vendor from 300 miles away would have taken time away from more important things, so having Jeremy show us a book of linen swatches at our one-month meeting and pointing to the ones we wanted was a huge convenience.
Overall, we couldn't have been happier with how our wedding turned out, and Onteora and its staff were a huge part of why it went so well. We feel like we got a very personal, intimate venue with professional attention to our wishes and requests. We can't recommend Onteora highly enough! -

My husband and I live in Brooklyn, NY, but when we got engaged, knew we wanted to get married outside the city. We went to college in upstate New York, and had hung out and camped a lot in the Catskills and Hudson Valley. We spent many weekends searching for the perfect place to get married. We wanted outside, but weren't sold on a tent for weather reasons. As soon as we drove up to the Onteora Mountain House, we knew it was the place. It's high atop the mountains and the view is absolutely breathtaking. It's rustic without being too rustic. The reception venue is a gorgeous timber pavilion. Bob, the owner, and Jeremy, the manager, were professional, responsive and flexible throughout the planning process. Every time I sent an email, it was immediately answered back with the information I needed. When it came to the wedding weekend (you have Onteora from Fri-Sun), they were both amazing. Jeremy was on top of literally everything. I didn't have to worry for a moment. Anything I asked him or Bob the whole weekend, was met with an immediate "Sure, no problem". The ceremony, reception and next-day brunch were so beautiful and perfect. The venue, service and food literally blew our guests away. They couldn't have complimented it enough. I highly recommend booking the Onteora Mountain House for your wedding. Not only is it a breathtaking and unique venue, but Bob and Jeremy run it so well, and guide you through your day calmly, attending to everything you could imagine. We wish we could do the day all over again, we loved every minute of it, in large part to Bob, Jeremy and Onteora! -

Onteora Mountain House is the most beautiful place to have a wedding!! All of our guests were in love with this venue and are still talking about it almost 4 months later! Not only is it stunning and provides the most gorgeous setting for a wedding and wedding photos, Bob and Jeremy are so organized and welcoming. From the breakfast that they provided each morning, to the schedule of events they develop with you before the wedding, and their organization on the wedding day (when everything can be so hectic!), they are true professionals. They are responsive and flexible and really know how to schedule a great wedding!! The staff was friendly and amazing as well! We fell in love with Onteora as soon as we walked in and I would absolutely recommend having your wedding there!! -

About a year before our wedding date, we stepped onto the property and knew we had to get married at the Onteora. It is truly a magical place. The pictures hardly do it justice. Because you rent out the 7 rooms on the property for close friends and family, the venue becomes your home for the weekend. We all felt so comfortable and at ease. But most importantly, the staff is phenomenal. Bob and Jeremy are true pros. We showed up on Friday with all of our stuff, handed it over, and relaxed for the rest of the weekend, knowing that they would take care of everything. Jeremy is a calm and collected presence when you're standing at the top of the stairs, waiting to walk down the aisle. Every request is met with a reassuring answer. They are a pleasure to work with and know all the ins and outs of planning a wedding. I could go on and on but, in short, picking the Onteora was the best wedding decision we could have made. It is worth every penny. -

This venue was made for my husband and me. And they made our day perfect.
I arrived and they took care of everything. Not only did everything get set up, they added so many nice touches all around that made the entire experience a dream.
This is the place for you if you want to get what you pay for. It is worth every penny. Bob and Jeremy have such attention to detail, really know how to organize, and know exactly what to do to pull it all off smoothly. Working with them was nothing but pleasant, they were always very accommodating and willing to work with me, but without treating me like a spoiled princess. I was looking for no-frills attitude, and I got it. I didn't want fake cooing over me and treating me like a child, and they were very cool.
Overall, it was a really amazing day - the best of my life - and I would definitely recommend. -

My now husband and I first saw Onteora online, and I had a feeling that it would be "the one." But it was a little far (we're from NYC), and our families didn't really get our vision for our wedding, so we didn't visit for a while. We saw about 20 other venues first, and none of them were it. Our parents could tell we weren't too excited about any of them. And then we went to visit Onteora, in sleeting rain, and we were over the moon. Even in the rain and the fog, I knew that this was where I wanted to wake up on my wedding day. We made the absolute right decision. Everything about the wedding was perfect, from the food (which I think included some very creative dishes) to the service and the drinks, and of course the magical location. Our guests raved about the atmosphere that we created for our wedding, and that is mainly due to Onteora. Bob and Jeremy were easy to work with, and I felt completely confident leaving every detail in their hands once we arrived for our wedding weekend. As expected, they executed everything perfectly. The only negative I have is that there is no air conditioning in the reception space, which on our exceptionally hot/humid wedding day was uncomfortable, but I would still do it over again. -

My husband and I had the most incredible wedding at Onteora Mountain House over Labor Day weekend this year. It was the first and only venue we visited, we were sold on the mountain views at first site. This location is absolutely breathtaking. The food was delicious, the ceremony backdrop is beautiful and the guest rooms in the mountain house and cottage are wonderful. Bob & Jeremy were very helpful and easy to work with throughout the planning process. On the day of, they took care of all decoration set up, coordinated with the vendors and made sure we didn't have to stress over anything. The venue is a little pricey, but completely worth it in the end. If you're looking for a woodsy, romantic wedding in the mountains, look no further. -

Onteora is just a devastatingly beautiful place to get married. We were blown away by it the moment we saw it. We had an amazing weekend and couldn't be happier about the whole experience.
Bob and Jeremy were great to work with - very professional and patient with me. They answered all my questions about every little detail over email. I really appreciated it. When we asked if we could have more people at the rehearsal dinner than was specified in their site information specified, they were happy to oblige.
If you book the weekend, you have the option of doing rehearsal dinners and brunch on-site with the same caterer. It was definitely a nice simplification to not have to book another site or deal with other catering companies.
Your wedding here will almost surely not be cheap. There is a large site fee, plus you're on the hook for booking the guest rooms over the weekend. The food and catering charges aren't small either. But you get your money's worth - the site is amazing, beautiful, and well-maintained. The view is incomparable. The guest rooms are charming and have modern bathrooms. Having your friends and family stay with you during the weekend is lovely. All of our guests enjoyed the ceremony tremendously. The food was all great for a wedding. People were extremely happy with the bar - little to no waiting around.

Magical Place in the Catskills!
Onteora is simply put, a magical place. It is so peaceful and I could stare at the mountain views forever! The pictures (which are amazing) don't even do it complete justice - we knew upon visiting we wanted to get married there. Then... 2020 happened! They were great about rescheduling our October 2020 wedding for October 2021, Jeremy is extremely professional and organized - it is clear they have been doing this for awhile and have a system in place that works! It was amazing to have our family there for the whole weekend to really connect and my husband and I stayed an extra few days on our own to decompress after the wedding which I highly recommend! You won't regret booking Onteora, it's beautiful.-

Beautiful, unique venue with great service!
My husband and I did a ton of research on venues in the Catskills / Hudson Valley area so want to give a thorough review of Onteora Mountain House as we had the best wedding there!
Onteora was amazing! The views are stunning and it is such a unique venue where you can get an amazing outdoor experience but also a beautiful, covered reception space. The venue has amazing spots for pictures that are all unique and different yet not super far apart so it’s easy to get from place to place. They also have a solid rain, backup plan which was important to us as summers in the Catskills can be unpredictable. Even though there was a chance of rain on our wedding day, Jeremy was proactive in making sure the team was ready for the backup plan and they were ready for anything, making the morning less stressful and allowing us to hold off on making a decision until the last minute, which allowed us to have the outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour we had dreamed of.
Jeremy, the venue coordinator, was amazing and he was integral to our day going as smoothly as it did. I am very type A and had a very specific vision for my wedding day and Jeremy delivered on every aspect. All of my decor was set up as I had asked and he made sure the day ran smoothly and on time. He was flexible during the planning process and ensured we felt comfortable with the plan. At some points during the planning process I was debating about getting a day of coordinator and am so glad I didn’t as Jeremy made it all happen flawlessly!
Food: The catering at Onteora Mountain House is done by Blue Mountain Bistro, local caterers who also have a little gourmet grab and go spot down the road from Onteora. At our wedding, the food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The venue staff were great and it felt as if the passed hors d’oeuvres just kept coming. As my husband comes from a large Italian family, we were nervous about the quantity of food, but trusted the team at BMB and were not disappointed. We added a “grazing table” and shrimp cocktail station during cocktail hour that our guests loved. Dinner was delicious as well and Blue Mountain Bistro gives you tons of options to choose from. The Blue Mountain Bistro team was also super accommodating on picking a menu that we wanted and of the various dietary restrictions our guests had. They went above and beyond by letting us come to their shop and taste items not featured at the tasting and gave us great advice on what to select, and how to pair the many options. Finally, the cake – we chose a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream and it was amazing, delicious, and looked beautiful. So many people told us that our cake was the best wedding cake they had ever eaten at a wedding.
We didn’t stay on the property as we had a Sunday wedding but all the rooms and the house are cozy and clean and it would be a great place to have a weekend wedding.
We would highly recommend getting married at Onteora Mountain House!

A wonderful mountain venue
Onteora was not only an amazing place to get married, but also an incredible team to work with while planning a wedding. Jeremy and Bob are incredibly detail oriented and make the planning process pain free. The venue is tucked away on a mountain side, but is worth every minute that it take to get there. We planned a weekend of activities in woodstock, letting guests experience the area and then had buses that took everyone into the venue from Woodstock. -

Onteora was the perfect venue for a relaxed, elegant, and personal wedding. They accommodated everything we asked for, from a double ceremony to rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch. The backdrop is stunning, the staff was friendly and professional, and we don't for a second regret not looking at any venue other than Onteora. -

Here's the scoop. The Onteora Mountain House is a stellar spot for a wedding... but it's definitely on the pricey end of things, especially as far as upstate weddings go. The good news is that the price includes so much! Lodging for you and at least 10 other people, the food, cocktails, site fee, gratuities, etc. But despite a touch of sticker shock, my husband and I were sold as soon as we got out of the car, thanks to its jaw-dropping vistas and grounds (the awesome Leg Lamp in the game room didn't hurt either!) Don't let the shoddy website fool you - go see for yourself! The owner, Bob, is a bit of an oddball but he's attentive and has a fabulously strange sense of humor. He doesn't fuss over brides (which some/many brides may find off-putting, but I was relieved by this!) His co-manager Jeremy is a gem. You won't work with him until later in the game, but he is just simply a-ma-zing and he will go far beyond the extra mile to make your day run seamlessly. The food is crazy delicious and they mix a fine cocktail. Another mega-bonus is that it's pet friendly, which was really important to us (and challenging to find.) All in all, it's such a special and unique space, and the entire place is 100% yours for 3 days!
Trust me, if you're considering the Catskills area, GO SEE THIS PLACE. -

I got married at the end of June 2012 at Onteora. Bob and Jeremy are serious professionals who ensured the whole thing went off without a hitch. The place is so gorgeous and the venue is incredibly well run. I heard from many guests that it was the best wedding they've ever been to.
Throughout the planning process, Bob and Jeremy were quite good and responsive to my requests. We met with them three separate times (once to see the venue, once for the tasting, and once for the final meeting to discuss the final details).
One thing to note: if you use this place, you most likely will need to hire buses. You will need to provide this logistical information to your guests - I'd recommend including that information in the invitations.
We used Tonche Transit who were accomodating and fun (I have pictures of the singalong on the bus on the way home from the after party to prove it!).
We started the weekend on Friday with the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner held on site. Despite my large and slightly unruly wedding party, Bob made sure everyone knew what to do and when to do it. The dinner was catered by Hickory Smokehouse and was delicious (especially the blackened catfish).
On Saturday, Jeremy worked to make sure everything was coming together smoothly. We brought in hair stylists and got ready in the cottage. Jeremy and Bob coordinated with our vendors who were setting up while we got ready.
Throughout the night, Bob and Jeremy worked to make sure all key events happened at the agreed upon times, and that we were present. (I was so excited, more than once Bob had to remind me that something was happening and I needed to return to my seat or the dance floor). We extended the party by an hour which was totally worth it.
The food was excellent. Even though we did first look photos, we missed most of the cocktail hour. I'd recommend asking someone to make a plate for the bride and groom - both for appetizers and entrees. I didn't have one bite of either entree because I was so busy. We did hear that the entrees were out of this world from guests who raved about their dinners.
We used the band Saints of Swing for the cocktail hour and first dance (very classy!), and then transitioned to Dave Leonard of JTD Productions (another seriously awesome professional who kept the dance floor jumping). Flowers were done by Dennis at the Green Cottage (beautiful) and photos by Kim Coccagnia (which are gorgeous!). All of our vendors worked together really well, which we appreciated. I would not have changed a thing. -

Everything was above and beyond my expectations. Fabulous.
My only recommedations is to loop in their wedding coordinator Bonnie as soon as possible. She's a great resource for places to get your hair done, etc... things that would have been great to know before the wedding day.
But, we couldn't have been happier - very elegant, without over doing it.

Wow, is all I can say about the Mountain House. Bob and Jeremy are like a dream team! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our wedding, and we have the Mountain House staff to thank. Very catering to what you as a couple want, extremely prompt, and on top of all the items that go into a reception, they really cover it all. The food from Blue Mountain Catering was excellent too, we got a lot of compliments on how good everything was!
Sometimes it takes them a while to respond to emails, but if you resend, they are quick. I believe their spam filter has something to do with that though.
The scenery is amazing, and don't worry about the weather...we had a really foggy day and it ended up pouring during our reception- but it went off without a hitch. People loved the views, and the house itself...everyone thought it was beautiful.
Oh and I was very concerned about the size of the space as well as the dance floor. We had 160 guests, and everything went fine! The tables did not feel cramped, and the dance floor was packed!
Really it was the perfect wedding. Thanks Bob, Jeremy and the Onteora Staff! -

The Onteora Mountain House is a beautiful place to get married. It suited our need for rustic, elegance perfectly. Lots of great details: drink of the day, breakfast in the morning, beautiful bridal suite. If you get married here...you MUST work with Jeremy. He is fabulous, adorable, and only 21 years old. We could not be happier with picking Onteora for the site of our Wedding ceremony and reception. We fell in love from the first moment we saw it. Bob and Jeremy made everything extremely easily. 9 out of 10 times they would answer the phone on the first ring. They were true professionals. The day of the wedding, everything ran smoothly and everything turned out just as we had planned. They didn't miss a step from providing golf cart service up a tiny hill from the parking lot for the older guests, to assigning a bridal attendant to make sure my every need was taken of, to queing myself and the bridal party during the ceremony, down to all the cocktail hour and reception details being displayed exactly how I imagined. After reading some other reviews on here I was a bit hesitant but I would recommend going with your own instincts- I'm happy I did because I could not have imagined a better place for my wedding. -

Onteora is the most beautiful (not being bias!) wedding venue i have ever seen. I refused to look any further after visiting. Only downside is they definitely "challenged" my budget. For us, venue was most important and we definitely spent accordingly! They are extremely accommodating and will honor just about any request you have. -

We had our reception here, and it was simply wonderful. Many guests commented on the beautiful setting, the prompt service, and the overall experience. Our wedding party stayed here as well. It's basically a bed and breakfast--this is not a resort. Expect the bed and breakfast feel--the setting used to be a home. If that's what you like, then you'll love it here. It's got character and charm, plus updated bathrooms. Our wedding party really enjoyed the game room after the festivities as well. One note about this venue: parking is limited. I suggest you supply shuttles for guests and encourage guests to take the shuttle. Yes, you have to hire a caterer, but I was glad for that--we got a choice of what to serve, as opposed to liking a venue, but not being impressed with the food. -

We chose Onteora because of the obvious natural beauty of the area—the stunning views are just incomparable. We were also encouraged by the fact that the facility provided a caterer and necessities such as tables/chairs set-up. Also, the rooms in the B&B were fantastic—they made us and our wedding party feel like we were on a vacation. The wedding day went very smoothly and we luckily had perfect weather. The breakfast that was served was delicious. My hair/makeup team was slow-moving, so we were down to the wire to get the bridesmaids/mothers/myself ready in time, but the owners were very in tuned to our timeline and made sure to get everyone set to go as close to the start time as possible. The ceremony went perfectly without a hitch, and I’ve been told that the cocktail hour was enjoyable (we were taking photos with our wedding party at that time). We thought the reception was fantastic—lots of great music and dancing and chatting, it was a really, really fun experience overall. The owners were aware of how the evening was progressing and made sure to stick to a schedule for when the meal/cake was served and when the speeches took place. At one point we needed to adjust the volume of the music and the big fan, which was easily done. The staff was great and very accommodating. They set the tables just as we’d asked—even trimming sprigs of rosemary for each plate. There were, however, a few details missed in the setup: For example, flowers were supposed to be in the bathrooms with lit candles; our rooms/beds were not tidied during our stay; the brunch was supposed to be held in the main house but was instead in the reception hall). The overall experience was extremely positive though I wish that the owners had been a little easier to work with. There was some tension in coming to agreements on certain details of the course of events and it became stressful at times. But all in all, we would not hesitate to recommend the Onteora Mountain House for a wedding! -

If you want a secluded weekend wedding in the mountains with beautiful surroundings and a magnificent view, then this bed and breakfast/wedding venue is for you.
However, this is about all you get for the high price you pay. The place has no cooking facilities, so the food has to be brought in pre-prepared by a caterer. As a result it is over-cooked and dry-and skimpy. Plan on supplementing the cocktail hour at a cost of $10-$15 per person. Otherwise your guests will go home hungry. One positive note: The liquor flows freely for the entire time as soon as the ceremony ends.
Once you sign the contract with the manager/owner, you will find yourself dealing with a very difficult, stubborn, unyielding and at times downright nasty man. You might wonder who is accommodating whom!
The way they move guests from the outdoor cocktail hour into the reception pavilion is embarrassing. At the appointed minute, all food is removed while some guests are still eating, and the place is cleaned up before the last guests enter the pavilion. This same rudeness occurs at the end of the reception. At 10 o'clock sharp the party's over. Within 15 minutes one wouldn't know a wedding ever took place.
The seven guest bedrooms have well-appointed, updated bathrooms. However the bedrooms have no heat, no AC, no telephones, no TV and not enough blankets for cool nights.
This venue is very dependent upon the weather. You wouldn't want to be up there in a storm or very cold weather, or even very hot weather (no AC), so booking this place is risky as well as expensive.
