Old World Events & Catering Reviews

Old world was just about the perfect venue for our budget. We were able to reserve both the indoor and outdoor area so we had more than enough space for our almost 200 guests. The food was spectacular and less than a third the price of what other venues were trying to charge in the same area. We got our cake through their bakery too and it was beautiful and delicious. They also worked really well with our guests that had dietary restrictions. The location is also wonderful because it is really close to the 405 freeway so its very easy to get to and there is a hotel right next door. The staff was very easy to communicate with and always responded promptly to our emails. They were also very straight forward so there was never any surprises or hidden fees. The only downside, I guess, is that there are German decorations everywhere because it is a German restaurant but we had no issue with that and it did not distract from the theme of our wedding. I really wish I could give Old World more stars.

We used Old World Bakery for our wedding cake. The cake was absolutely perfect, and the service was great as well! If you're looking for a great cake, at a reasonable price, give Roseanna a call! She was awesome.

I don't even know where to begin. Best decision to have our wedding reception here. I wish I could give them more stars. We booked this place because they had an excellent venue deal that seemed too good to be true but it was. We rented out their Festival hall which was huge easily held our 160 guests.

The location was also wonderful because it is really close to the 405 freeway and the beach that we got married on. The staff was very easy to communicate with and always responded promptly to our emails. Thanks Rachel and Mary for always responding to my numerous emails.They were also very straightforward with the pricing, very simple pricing didn't charge us for stupid fees like other venue tried to do.

Even got our cake through their bakery was delicious. A beautiful 3-tiered cake for way below the cost of regular 3 tiered wedding cakes. Thank you Roseanna the cake was amazing. Lastly I want to praise their security guards they were great and kind and even helped with parts of the wedding. From setting up and even helped us clean up in the end, thanks Josh.

Our wedding at Old World was perfect. My husband and I had been set up here at an OktoberFest event, so it was a perfect place to tie the knot. We only had our reception here, because our 220 person wedding would have been a little too cramped on the patio in the back. But the vibe at Old World is perfect for making it truly feel like a celebration! The food is a great way to go to make catering more affordable, while still having unique charm / not seeming cheap. The staff were great and very responsive as we emailed back and forth / let me come by to measure and what not.

We first booked our rental in a year in advance because they had an excellent package deal that was too good to pass up. About 6 months before the wedding we were told that they were fined by the city and the hall we rented was going to be under construction and we would have to move venues. They offered us the use of their outdoor gazebo and to make up for the problems they were not going to charge us for the actual venue only the food so they knocked off around $2000 of our total. They were so helpful with everything and worked very hard to make up for the problems we had in the beginning. The day of the wedding everything was put together beautifully and everything ran very smoothly. I am very satisfied with how everything worked out.

I tried a lot of wedding cakes, and all were overpriced and tasted sub par. Old World made a 4-tiered cake that tasted AMAZING for somewhere around $600 (including delivery). Other places wanted over $1,000 for 3-tiered cakes that were dry and used butter cream frosting. Old World used a really light, tasty whipped topping. Excellent.

I really enjoyed working with Lisa setting up the wedding specifics. She was really helpful and very responsive every time I emailed her questions (which was quite often). The venue was nice and affordable, and the location was great. We were able to stay at Hotel Huntington Beach, which is right across the street, and it was very convenient for the wedding party and out of town guests.

I did not give all 5's for the review because some of the staff working at the wedding were not the best. They made my 60+ year old aunt go back to the hotel to get her ID for a glass of wine. That is crazy!! They also threatened to kick out husbands great aunt, who is also over 60, because she did not have her ID and her nephew got her a drink. I thought that was unnecessary and upsetting. The staff at the event could have been happier and accommodating.

I have my ceremony and reception here. Trying to communicate with the wedding staff was difficult at times, I would get a response several days or several weeks later or sometimes not get a response at all. The location is very reasonably priced, and they are very flexible with almost everything you do. One major problem I had was that we were constantly having to get up during our wedding to correct problems that were happening. I would recommend this venue to a friend, we had a lot of problems, but in the end everything did turn out good.
