One of the best decisions we made was securing the Stella for our wedding. It was a huge hit & made things so much easier for not only our wedding party but our guests as well! Gene & Nick were so great and easy to work with - and the Stella gave us some very classy pics that we will cherish forever! ✨ -

Having OBX Trolley at our wedding was great! It made transportation to and from our venue extremely simple and fun for our guests. They had a blast! The driver was super flexible and took my wife and I to a nearby pier for our wedding photos too. I can't say enough good things about them! -

Gene and Nick were so great to work with and super accommodating. They went to 6 different stops because our guests stayed all over the place and still got everyone to the ceremony on time! Our guests also loved "Stella" and were super appreciative that they didn't have to worry about driving home from the reception! -

OBX trolley was fantastic for our wedding! Our guests loved taking photos with the trolley! The staff was very friendly and super accommodating. We had guests staying in multiple locations and they were able to coordinate drop offs and pick ups seamlessly. I would highly recommend booking OBX trolley for your event! -

The OBX wedding trolley is a fun little adventure to hire for your wedding day. The driver arrived on time and was extremely pleasant. Gene, the owner of the company, was very helpful through email leading up to the event, even recommending some nearby restaurants when we were researching reception sites. We highly recommend OBX Trolley for your transportation needs on your wedding day. -

We are from Boston and had 75 guests at our wedding coming in to OBX from both MA and MD. We wanted to give them the ultimate OBX experience, and knew that we had to include Stella the trolley as part of that! We booked the 10 hour wedding package, and would highly recommend it. Working with the owner Gene, was incredibly easy. He was responsive and very amenable and flexible to our needs. We setup a schedule where Stella picked up the bridal party from the house we rented in Kitty Hawk and transported us all to Sanctuary Vineyards, where we had both the ceremony and reception. It then returned for a couple of trips back to our home to pickup all of our family for photos, and then our remaining guests. It was also incredibly convenient to have a way to shuttle a large group of people in between the ceremony and reception sites.
The trolley is beautiful both inside and out, and very comfortable even with a large group of people. It was awesome for photos, not just for professional ones with the bridal party, but also all of our guests enjoyed taking photos with it. The service from the driver was great! He was incredibly professional, offered a hand to people getting on/off the trolley, and even so kind to offer to help me with the train of my dress. It was a pretty hot day, so it was nice to have a very cooly air conditioned trolley to get on and we were able to bring on our own cooler full of water for our guests.
Aside from creating a very special OBX experience for our guests, and having a beautiful means of transport and cool photos -- what was incredibly important to us is that we didn't have to worry about our guests getting home safely after an evening of drinking. We would book them again in a heart beat! -

We used OBX Wedding Trolley two nights in a row to ensure our guests arrived safely and on time, and also were delivered back to their accommodations. We wanted to ensure there was no drinking and driving, and OBX Wedding Trolley helped us accomplish the goal. Gene was great to work with as we talked through our plan for both events. Tim was our driver for both nights, and he was personable and engaging with our guests while ensuring they arrived when they needed to. I highly recommend OBX Wedding Trolley. PS - The trolley is very comfortable and airconditioned! -

My mother booked the trolley for us as a surprise and I cannot stress enough how magical it was!!! Our bus driver was so sweet and super accommodating as far as music, temperature, and driving around for pictures. The trolley made for really fun photos for us and our wedding party, and a very fun vintage experience. I HIGHLY recommend this comped for your special day! -

Gene and Jason were awesome from the start. They are very flexible with pick ups/drop offs, and let me tell you, some of our guests favorite memories are the rides signing and laughing to and from our venue that night!! It brought me such peace as the bride to know all my loved ones were safe and sound with Jason driving, and the guests kept telling me afterwards how beautiful the trolley "Stella" was and it added to the whole feeling of the day. Don't hesitate to book - we had a wedding of 100 people that needed to be shuttled from Nags Head to the Elizabethan Gardens and then back again (all different locations) and Jason made it happen and then some. So much fun!! -

The owner was more than willing to help us with any questions we had from the very beginning and assisted with directing us to various resources for our destination wedding! We love our pictures with Stella and everyone loved not having to worry about drinking and driving so they were able to fully enjoy our wedding! The driver even stayed an extra half hour to get all of our distracted and trailing guests a ride back at the end of the night! All of our guests thought the driver was so nice and so did we!! We are so happy we had Scott driving us for pictures and our guests on our wedding day!!!

Chris Sent on 10/13/2016Our driver, Jason, is the man! He could not have had more difficult conditions than we were dealt for our wedding, thanks to Hurricane Matthew. But we'll get to that in a minute. During the weeks leading up to the wedding Gene and Jason were in constant contact in order to help plan everything. We sent them a list of addresses where guests were staying and they came up with a timeline of when everyone would be picked up...whether at a hotel or a rental house. Jason picked up the wedding party exactly when he was supposed to, then left to start guest pickups. He returned exactly on time with everyone and our ceremony started right on time.
Now, the ride home. We had to cross the Washington Baum bridge to get home from our venue, and that's not very fun when the winds start gusting to 50+ mph. We discussed with Jason before the wedding that we would defer to his judgement regarding getting our guests home safely and he held out as long as he could until he made the call that we had to go. We only cut our reception an hour short, and in hindsight he had plenty of reason to make the call earlier but did everything he could to wait it out so we could enjoy the night we spent 15 months planning. We dropped off our guests that were staying on Roanoke Island before making the drive over the bridge. The trolley was rocking but we made it over only to be welcomed with flooded streets. Imagine being on the trolley with 30 of your guests, white knuckled hoping we could make it home as flood waters got high enough to start pouring in the trolley door. This is no exaggeration, and Jason kept going managing to get everyone back to our house. He literally dropped us off at our doorstep so we could transition from wedding reception to hurricane party before he went back to the office to spend the night since he could not get home in those conditions. THAT is the only way to describe the level of service we received from the crew at OBX Trolley. -

Scotty Nickens was our driver and he comes highly recommended. This trolley makes for adorable photos. The vehicle was clean, we felt very safe and there was room for over thirty guests. The contract included transport for guests back to any location in the Nags Head area. They even transported leftover food from the venue back to the Mother of the Bride's cottage. This is a fun way to show off your wedding party and make them feel special. The 10 hour rental was $1500 (2016 price) and well worth the investment of knowing everyone was safe and had smiles on their faces. You can rent the trolley for a shorter time period. -

Emily Sent on 09/15/2014This company was punctual, went by their assigned schedule and picked up everyone in the wedding and family at their rental houses before taking all other guests from the country club to the marina and back to the country club...after the wedding, they even took us out for the night cap! The trolley has air conditioning, is beautifully taken care of on the inside and outside, giving the respective appearance of wedding transportation! The driver was very nice and did an excellent job! -

They were easy to work with and just genuinely sweet (I just got a handwritten ‘thank you’ card from Amanda, or “Stella” the trolley). It was so nice to have a reliable way for everyone to get from place to place. I think the driver’s name (Amanda’s dad) was David –he was so nice. He helped us onto the trolley (holding my flowers and my hand) and even allowed the guys to bring back the rented tables on the trolley at the end of the night, haha. A great experience all-around. -

We found OBX Trolley through our wedding coordinator while planning our 2021 Outer Banks wedding. We were lucky to have them available the day of our event as there seems to be limited wedding transportation vendors in the area. Handling of the contract, payment, and planning a schedule for the pickup of our guests was all a very seamless process. The driver we worked with was Nick and although we had limited interaction with him, many of our guests commented on how nice and accommodating he was. There were a few hiccups on the day of the event with the pickup of our guests. There were some individuals who were picked up from a hotel who were not attending our event. Nick did kindly drop them off at their destination however this contributed to a delay in our guests getting to our event. The schedule also got pushed back due to traffic issues completely outside of the driver’s control. Nick worked well with our coordinator to provide updates on the ETA of our last group of guests to arrive. We were able to adjust our schedule slightly to ensure everyone was there for all of the ceremony. At the end of the night, Nick did a tremendous job of ensuring all of our guests made it home safely which we are truly grateful for. Overall we felt okay with our selection of OBX Trolley as our wedding transportation vendor, as at the end of the day everyone got there and everyone got home! -

Rachel Sent on 07/17/2018I was really happy with OBX trolley. I had some trouble with the driver a week before the wedding when I sent him the addresses to the houses of my guests. The phone call I had with him left me feeling extremely stressed and unaccommidating. After speaking with George, the owner, he took care of business with such professionalism and apologized for making me feel overwhelmed. He was so wonderful to work with, and in the end everything worked out!! Having a trolley was such a great bonus for my guests and myself. We took it to take pictures by bodie island lighthouse and then to our venue, Jennette's Pier. I would highly recommend OBX trolley! -

We booked OBX Trolley almost right away after securing our venue, knowing that the venue we picked could not accommodate any onsite parking. At the time of booking, and no time after, did Gene provide parameters (for best drive times, have guests book in X number of miles from property), or did he provide any heads up that the timelines for pickups may be expansive. I even followed up 2.5 months out as I was gathering addresses to check in and see if there was anything that I needed. He assured me I was ahead of the game. I shared 90% of our addresses around 6 weeks before our event, and didn't receive my first timeline until ~ 3 weeks out. At that point, the driver was suggesting that we needed to begin pickups at 12:30PM for our 5:00PM wedding. He had some people on the trolley for over 2 hours before a drop off too on that timeline!
Note - our wedding was in Duck, on a Sunday of Memorial Day weekend (less traffic than normal change day), and our furthest address was 15 minutes away in either direction. The back and forth was rough and unprofessional, and they were not at all accommodating. After a knock out drag out fight, we ended up having to have Corolla Trolley (who were great - myself and a friend who got married that same weekend down there had great experiences with Sean there) come in to assist with pickups for additional money from us, and no compensation from OBX trolley. This was so we could start pick ups at reasonable time (which was still early to me), 3:00PM for OBX Trolley, and 3:30PM for Corolla Trolley. After all of that - all our guests ended up arriving a full hour before our ceremony, as I suspected they would.
Icing on the cake after that back and forth was that I had pre-communicated with the driver about wanting them to stage and wait for our wedding party to take some trolley photos, and take the trolley to be dropped at the beach for a few shots. They were not outside the property for us, and when my coordinator called repeatedly, they couldn't be reached. We ended up having to skip what would have been some priceless photos because of this blunder.
Word to the wise - if you have a wedding where your pick ups and drop offs involve multiple rental properties and aren't a straight simple hotel or two pick up and drop off, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Gene himself told me this business is probably not profitable anymore for him, so it sounds like they don't seem to have a vested interest in serving their clients to the best of their abilities. -

This company is run by a liar. The POC, Gene Williams, cannot be trusted. ***DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS*** I had to cancel my wedding A FULL YEAR IN ADVANCE and after promising me a full refund, he was caught in a lie about rebooking my date and refused to give me a refund. He did absolutely nothing for me and even after "100%" rebooking my date, he still kept the deposit. When confronted with evidence of his lie, he still refused to provide me the promised refund. Weddings are already expensive and stressful -- do yourself a favor and don't add to it with this company, as they will undoubtedly cheat you if given the chance. -

Absolute nightmare 1 month before wedding
I’ll start this off by saying I know the owner is going to respond to this review touting all of the positive reviews they have. He’ll mention the 1000s of weddings they’ve done without a hitch. My question for you is, do you want to be the one wedding they royally screw up? Do you want to be the bride scrambling to make new plans and find new locations less than one month before your wedding? Because that was me. I researched transportation companies and their reviews for weeks. I thought this will be perfect, they’ve done so well for so many others. What I should have done was read the worst reviews and the company’s responses to those. Take a look and you will see how they take zero responsibility for their actions (or lack thereof). In fact, their response to every single negative review is to blame the client – seemingly, for not being privy to their procedures that they don’t explain until the final hour. They are supposed to be the expert – they are not. So before I begin, do yourself a favor and book with Mattie at Corolla Trolley/OBX Event Bus. They handle the same radius as OBX Trolley and they are far kinder and way more accommodating (not to mention extremely fun). No one forgot about me or my event at Corolla Trolley/OBX Event Bus – just an absolutely pleasant experience all around, even though I had to book with less than one month to go after I was berated, insulted, and abandoned by Gene at OBX Trolley. So, let’s get into it…I booked Stella the OBX Trolley in January 2022, 9 months prior to my wedding. I gave the information I was asked for – I was not asked about an exact ceremony location. I was told by Gene that HE would be in touch closer to my event for a location/timeline. Well, my second and final payment was coming due 8 months later (now one month prior to the event), so I reached out to Gene to see if that would be automatically paid using the same card as previous. At which point he said, “Thank you for reminding me.” I guess he forgot about us, which is why he never reached out previously for the timeline and location – I thought that was interesting, but okay. I let Gene know to use the same card as the first payment and gave him the location, that was Monday, August 1st. Gene charged me the $750 immediately but didn’t confirm or respond to me until August 3rd, at which time he proceeded to tell me the location was not feasible because it was a dirt road. My first thought was, why did you charge my card if you can’t do it? I had a short moment of aggravation before sucking it up and trying to find an alternate location (ONE MONTH PRIOR TO MY WEDDING!) – per Gene’s request. On August 4th, when I had a couple of options, I reached out to Gene to see if any of the alternate locations would be feasible – obviously, right? He already told me my original location was no good, so before settling on another, shouldn’t I ask Gene if any of the alternate locations will work? That seemed logical to me, plus he asked for them. On August 5th I received a response that they would check the alternate locations and get back to me later that day. Well August 5th went by, August 6th went by, August 7th went by, and half of August 8th went by before I finally reached back out to Gene to see if they had an answer – again. Well, Gene responds that the new location, which is off a normal, paved road and has a big parking lot, is also not feasible. Now, I’m pretty irritated. My photographer is waiting for an answer on location, as am I, since my wedding is now less than one month away. I was told I’d receive a response August 5th….4 days later I AGAIN have to be the one to reach out to you and see what’s happening only for you to say no? I wasn’t happy. I let Gene know I wasn’t happy and that his behavior and delayed responses so close to the event date was edging unprofessionalism. Boy, he did not like that, and he made it clear in his response that he no longer wanted to handle our event. My “demands were unreasonable” – as a reminder, those “demands” were me asking if a location was reachable after the initial location was deemed unreachable. Don’t worry ya’ll; I have the receipts. Please see multiple screenshots attached. I found Gene’s reply to be kind of crazy, actually. He denied our original location one month prior to the event. He asked for an alternate location. I gave him three and asked if any would work. Somehow, on some planet, that equates to Gene “planning my wedding”. Obviously, Gene has never planned a wedding – thank god, because he’s obviously not a very good logistics coordinator (which I think is *kind of* important in the transportation/planning business). Even him “calling the town of Kitty Hawk”… why? First of all, I’m already legally married; this was an informal, 10 minute ceremony, and I don’t need paperwork or permission from anyone in the OBX to visit a public location during operational hours. So, he’s mad he gave himself more work for literally no reason. I’ve worked in logistics for many years as well as customer service, and I would never have the audacity to treat a client – especially a PAID IN FULL client – with the disrespect this man has for simply asking for advice. Can’t wait to see Gene’s response… How will he insult me? Will he call me ignorant? Demanding? Entitled? He has called other past clients the same for what I would assume were further shortcomings on his part. Bring it on, Gene – you’re one of the most ignorant people I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with. It’s a pretty trolley but not worth dealing with the ugly personalities running it. Best of luck to anyone that mistakenly chooses to deal with him or his company in the future. -

I hired OBX Wedding Trolley over a year ago for my wedding. A few months before the wedding, we called to confirm our date and time, as we did with all our vendors. Gene at OBX Wedding Trolley told us he wrote down the wrong date for our wedding in their books and we could not use their services. This was AFTER I had already corrected them via email once with the correct date (they wrote the wrong wedding date on my receipt when I paid). At that time they assured me they had the correct date and I was booked. In my opinion they should have told the customer who booked my date after me that they made a mistake and could not help them since I booked first (and my contract had the correct wedding date). I was left high and dry for wedding transportation. This is bad business, poor customer service, and just plain unethical.
