Great wedding venue!
Our wedding was an unforgettable one with a great venue and amazing staff! Tessa Egolf, our venue coordinator, did a great job in facilitating everything we needed from the ceremony to the reception. Thank you Oakwood! -

My husband and I loved Oakwood, they did such a good job of making sure every part of the wedding went just how we had planned. Couldn't be more pleased with Kaila, our event coordinator, and the whole staff at Oakwood. Our wedding was perfect! ?? -

We booked the Hilltop Center for our ceremony and reception and it's really an amazing value for the space. The staff providing bar and catering services for our rehearsal dinner and reception were polite, professional, and quick to help us with any of our requests. Our initial event coordinator, Kaila, was amazing to work with. She was incredibly friendly, quick to respond to any of our questions and super helpful. Unfortunately, Kaila left the Oakwood Resort the week of our wedding and we were given three different event coordinators for the day of the wedding. They were very helpful during the ceremony, making sure everyone was ready and in position. However, as soon as the ceremony was over we did not see an event coordinator for the rest of the night. We were told throughout the process that our event coordinator would be with us for the entirety of the day, and reassured of this again when our original event coordinator left and we were told that others would be filling in. This created an awkward chain of asking staff to phone in event coordinators to find things like more chairs. It made the day very stressful for us, as we were constantly either having to track down staff members when we needed things or find family members to do it for us. Even our photographers stepped in to help pick up the slack. We ended up running into two of the event coordinators the day after our wedding and when we brought up the issue, all they had to say was that someone else was kind of in charge. We were never introduced to this person, nor even informed that there was a point person there we should be directing our requests to. Oakwood has several beautiful event locations, great staff, reasonable pricing, and catering, bartending, rooms for guests, and even a salon & spa are all available on-site which is great. The event coordinators were the only downside to our wedding day, but unfortunately their lack of follow-through was something we had to deal with for the whole day. -

Oakwood is amazing! We did everything for our wedding through them, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, rooms. Everything turned out perfectly and went off without a hitch! Do not hesitate to book them as your venue! -

The location is gorgeous. We had a lot of out of town guests. The hotel staff was not informed and over charged most of our guests. They provided a wedding coordinator who was supposed to perform things like lighting candles and the fire pit which were not completed. The food was adequate and so was the bar service. -

The hotel was disorganized when dealing with our block of rooms. Not always the best at responding to emails or calls -

Beautiful Venue, but planning was a struggle
Our wedding day at Oakwood was truly beautiful. The food was excellent, and the day-of logistics were executed smoothly. However, the planning process leading up to the event was frustrating and disappointing.
Room Block and Vacation Home Issues:
On-site accommodations were a major factor in choosing Oakwood, as all our guests were traveling. We booked nearly a year in advance and were told we could add rooms at any time, with no concern about availability during the off-season. Based on this, we delayed finalizing our block while confirming our guest list. Just weeks after signing our contract, another wedding booked the remaining rooms. While we didn’t expect Oakwood to hold rooms indefinitely, we were given inaccurate information and no warning, leaving most of our guests without accommodations.
Additionally, we and another guest reserved vacation homes through Oakwood, which were canceled two months before the wedding. We were told the homes were needed for a long-term tenant and an employee. The only options initially presented to us were for our guests to stay off-site, to reschedule our wedding, or to cancel our contract altogether. After several days of back-and-forth communication, Oakwood was eventually able to offer a handful of additional rooms. While we appreciated the final outcome, the process lacked accountability and proactive support, which made an already stressful situation more difficult to navigate.
Outdoor Space Double-Booking:
A large, multi-event wedding was scheduled the same weekend as ours, with overlapping times — one on the Lakeside Patio and ours on the Grand Lawn. We had to repeatedly ask for the other wedding’s schedule, as Oakwood didn’t seem clear on what events were happening or where. To avoid a conflict, we had to adjust our ceremony time, which was inconvenient for both parties.
Accounting and Finances:
Finalizing payment was frustrating due to multiple errors in our food and beverage contract. Oakwood changed their bar menu mid-year, and we were repeatedly quoted prices that didn’t match our original agreement. We had to double-check everything and advocate for correct pricing.
Oakwood delivered a beautiful wedding day with excellent food and smooth logistics. But the planning process was far from seamless. We had to advocate for ourselves constantly, fixing accounting errors, confirming menu and bar package details, and chasing down basic information. Weddings are a major investment, and without our vigilance, we’re not confident we would have been accurately charged. Whether due to miscommunication or broader coordination issues, it’s difficult to fully trust a venue that struggles to manage its own logistics. If you choose Oakwood, go in with eyes wide open and be prepared to stay actively involved every step of the way -

Didn’t even have the wedding yet
We thought we found a gem. But we have a little less than a year and it’s been a headache. They gave away our entire room blocking except for 28 rooms (we had the whole hotel) and did not know of the mistake until I had contacted them four times. They switched the coordinator we were working with and didn’t tell us so I sent urgent questions into the void until I bugged them and got ahold of them. They told us chairs were included in the ceremony- they’re not. So $900 spent to stand in front of a lake, no microphones, extension cords, or chairs. We can’t get our full deposit back but if we could I would change our venue. -
