Jennifer was a professional and calming presence at our wedding. The engagement shoot was fun and gave us some great shots to use on our website and save the dates. Leading up to the wedding, she helped us adjust our day-of schedule to accommodate all the photos we wanted, which really helped to relieve our stress. The day of the wedding, she and CJ got all the portraits we wanted really efficiently, leaving us time to enjoy the party. Then throughout the event they took a ton of amazing photos without us feeling like we had cameras in our faces all night long. We love our photos and are going to treasure them for years to come. -

We hired the Nichols to shoot our civil ceremony (just the two of us, Jen was our witness!) and our bigger destination wedding in West Texas. I can’t speak highly enough about both experiences. For our civil ceremony, Jen scouted great locations to shoot, captured the joy and love of the day effortlessly, and was so fun to work with. For our bigger wedding day, the pair were consummate professionals. EVERYONE commented on how well they did integrating into the crowd, taking a ton of pictures without being obtrusive. They captured an incredible array and variety of photos - from stunning portraits of us as a couple, to really beautiful detail shots, to fun dancing photos that capture the vibe of the night! Jen even helped us pick our ceremony site (the venue had several) to maximize shade on a hot day, avoid too much dappled sunlight, and grab amazing pictures. The Nichols were efficient, creative, warm and effusive. I cannot recommend them highly enough. -

Jenna Sent on 09/29/2024Gorgeous, balanced, emotional photos with great lighting
It’s a joy to work with Jennifer and CJ (Nichols Photographers). Working with them you are sure to get beautiful photos that capture all the details and emotion of your big day! When we got our gallery back, it was like watching a story–full of different emotions (first look, walking down the aisle with my parents, faces during the vows and speeches, the excitement right after the ceremony concluded, and lots of pictures of me giving hugs). Besides the posed photos, where they gave helpful direction and applied lots of knowledge about how to best handle or lay my dress train, I got to focus entirely on the moment, and rarely even noticed my photo being taken.
I also really love the way that Nichols Photographers edit their photos. When looking for a photographer, I saw a lot of images that were edited to either look very light, soft, and romantic, which I wasn’t a huge fan of, or photos where the colors are darker, which I liked better, but my husband didn’t find to look as “happy.” Nichols Photographers photos are extremely balanced and they are really good at working with lighting. When I looked at other galleries of our venue (Outdoor Art Club) and first look location (Old Mill Park), I noticed a lot of time the photos had shadows over people’s faces because of all the trees and leaves, and Jennifer and CJ managed to not have that all. I love the way that they incorporate nature or different gorgeous backgrounds into the photos, but still center people as the subjects. They also include a lot of beautiful black and white photos.
In addition to our wonderful wedding photos, we also had an engagement shoot with Jennifer in February in the Marin Headlands. Jennifer took 200+ amazing photos of us. She focused on movement and gave direction on posing. She made us really comfortable, and my husband, who doesn’t really enjoy having his photo taken, commented on how much fun he had. Jennifer has such a great artistic eye, and had a wonderful vision for specific locations for us to stand. We adored all of our engagement photos, and so did our loved ones, so we knew that we were in great hands for our wedding, and our guests commented that they were excited to see the professional photos.
We are so happy we found Nichols Photographers and went with them for our wedding! They are also extremely easy to communicate with. You don’t need to spend hours and hours researching photos/photographers like I did; if Nichols Photographers are available, and your style of photography, you should say yes and hire them! -

Jennifer and CJ at Nichols are absolutely amazing. Our wedding and welcome party photos turned out better than we could have anticipated. Not only are Jennifer and CJ incredibly talented, but they're also kind, professional, communicative, and really wonderful to have in your corner on wedding day. They have such a calm presence; we never felt overwhelmed or stressed, or out of our element. They made us feel comfortable and like ourselves, but also helped with posing and direction. They struck that balance perfectly! We couldn't recommend them more. Their work is absolutely stunning, and they are an absolute joy to work with. 100/10! -

We are so happy with our decision to have Nichols Photographers capture our wedding day! Our photos are beautiful and we have countless favorites. Our album captures all of the small details and special moments that are a joy to look back on. Jennifer and CJ are professional, thoughtful, fun, easy-going, and such a joy to be around.
From our first inquiry to receiving our wedding album, Jennifer was professional and communicative. She recommended a fantastic location for our engagement shoot, so we got stunning photos under trees in the Presidio and on the beach. Jennifer and her husband were incredibly professional and a joy to work with throughout our wedding weekend. We appreciated their flexibility in allowing us to swap the engagement shoot included in their package for coverage of our tea ceremony instead. Their attention to detail was evident in everything they did, from arriving early and being fully prepared to having a great eye for poses and locations that resulted in stunning photos.
The quality of service was top-notch—Jennifer and her husband were always a step ahead, making sure every shot was perfect. They captured every detail of our special day, both big and small, ensuring that we have beautiful memories to cherish forever. The photos are absolutely gorgeous and perfectly reflect the essence of our wedding. Their professionalism extended to their communication as well. While they primarily coordinated with our planner, everything was seamless, and they made the entire process stress-free for us. Beautiful Photos
Nichols Photographers did a beautiful job capturing our engagement and wedding day photos. From the first email inquiry to the final delivery of our albums, they were incredibly responsive and attentive. We felt comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process. Working with them was a genuinely enjoyable experience.
Never once did we feel we had to lift a finger. Right from the get-go, Jennifer already had multiple shooting locations in mind for the engagement pictures. And the place we settled on was nothing short of spectacular. We could not be happier with how they came out.
We truly feel our wedding day is perfectly preserved. Nichols Photographers didn't miss a single moment. They captured all the emotions and details of the day with thoughtfulness and creativity. Their attention to detail truly reflected in the final results, and we're so grateful.
In addition to beautiful work, they are an extremely friendly and easy to work with team. They made the sometimes awkward experience of getting photos taken comfortable. And our photos look so natural and effortless because of this!

Our wedding planner at The Gage in Marathon recommended The Nichols, and we were SO pleased with their work. The fact that they are a couple makes it so easy to work with them, since they can be at two places at once! CJ was able to photograph the guys getting ready while Jennifer was with the girls. The photos turned out absolutely beautiful and we couldn't have been happier with everything they did. A huge joy to work with these two! -

Working with Nichols Photography was one of the absolute highlights of my wedding. My entire family and I are so pleased with the quality of their work, and I cherish the pictures we've received. I cannot wait to frame them in my home and eventually share these photos with our children.
The day of my wedding, it began to rain during the setup process. I was feeling so worried that the pictures would turn out dark/grey - and I couldn't have been more wrong! The way Nichols Photography captured my venue / decorations / details looks like it's a perfect sunny day. All of my coworkers can't believe it rained during my wedding. That's how impressive their editing skills are. I'm blown away!
Overall, I would recommend Nichols Photography to any bride getting married in the NorCal/Tahoe areas. They are truly top notch, and so fun to work with. -

Picture perfect wedding pictures

Best Wedding Photographers
Jennifer and CJ were hands down the best! My husband and I aren’t big photo people and they made us feel comfortable, at ease and we even had fun with the process! Our style is definitely more candid and in the moment and they captured these little moments of our wedding so beautifully giving us photos we will love forever. Their communication was great and they helped create a wedding day timeline that ran seamlessly without worry. Nichols photography came highly recommended to us by several of the wedding vendors on our team, a testament to their stellar reputation of who they are as people and to their extraordinary talent as photographers. We could not feel more lucky to have had these incredibly skilled and wonderful people as our wedding photographers.
Even before meeting, Jennifer was attentive to our priorities. She was warm, welcoming and professional. When we had the privilege of meeting and working with Jennifer and CJ in person, it was nothing short of a delight. Jennifer and CJ make being photographed a fun filled, joyous and comfortable experience. From our engagement shoot to our wedding day, their approach to photography made us feel like our most true, authentic, and best selves - a feeling that was not only present during the shoots but emanates through every moment they caught with their lenses.
Both our wedding and engagement sessions were in very remote areas. The sites required extensive car travel and, even after arrival, lots of adventuring around off road to reach the shoot locations. Jennifer and CJ were never daunted by these circumstances - they were extremely supportive of our wishes to have our events take place somewhere so near and dear to us as a couple.
On our wedding day, CJ and Jennifer managed to catch every detail we expressed was of importance to us as well as moments that never would have come to mind absent their expertise and skill to capture them. With the most subtle and complimentary presence that was practically undetectable, Jennifer and CJ were able to capture the most intimate of moments. They take what could be chaotic endeavors and make them into efficient and enjoyable occasions. Although we know they worked tirelessly, they made it all look so effortless.
We have not stopped looking through our wedding day photos since we received them 4 months ago. Each frame was perfectly taken in a way that makes us relive all the joy and love that filled that day. We were so thrilled to see that Jennifer and CJ’s edits do not mask any moments but instead support and uplift what the reality of each moment was. The photos they’ve given us are so much more than images of the best day of our life - they are timeless treasures that we will cherish with those we love for years to come.

Besides choosing to marry my husband, working with Jennifer and CJ Nichols as our photographers was the best choice I made for my wedding. THE BEST!! If you are looking for high quality photography with an artistic touch, Nichols is the way to go. We hired Nichols Photography for our engagement session in Sacramento in March 2019, and our wedding in Sonora in December 2019. Jennifer and CJ are an amazing husband and wife team, and we could not have been happier with their services. We enjoyed every aspect of our experience with Nichols. Not only are they talented and professional, but they are genuinely kind and so easy to work with. Even their website is beautiful and they are very active on Instagram (@nicholsphoto), posting new content all the time. Their online visibility made it easy to make our final decision while we were shopping around. The contract and payment process was straightforward- all done online. GREAT communication- Jennifer promptly responded to all my emails. Now stop searching and hire them! -

Jessica Sent on 06/21/2011Jennifer and CJ Nichols are two of the most kind, awesome, funny, warm and genuine people you'll ever meet. I don't know if I can even scratch the surface to explain how wonderful Jennifer was during the entire year before our wedding--she was much more helpful than any of my other vendors, and for that I owe her my right arm.
At first we'd chosen the package including engagement photos and wedding day coverage, but after booking them I concluded I reallly needed the bridals as well (after majorly stalking http://thenicholsblog.com, which I highly recommend to anyone considering them) and Jen was super cool about letting us upgrade to the big guns. I am so so so very thankful I made that decision--my bridals are ridiculously good--I couldn't imagine not having them. My husband agrees.
The Nichols' style is what attracted me to them in the first place--I love the authentic quality of the photos--nothing ever looks staged or posed, and you can tell we are comfortable, which is something that only comes from having such good people behind the lens.
I should also mention that while we were astounded with the quality of our package--from the most beautiful engagement-photo guestbook, ease of sharing photos with friends and family via the Nichols blog, a beautiful canvas of my bridal photos to the quick-as-hell turnaround (we had our wedding images in less than 30 days), we also commissioned CJ to design and create a neon sign for us to use in our ceremony. It's a badass keepsake, that's for sure--we love it to death!
