Our wedding at Nella Terra Cellars was a dream come true. From the moment we toured the property, we knew it was the one. The venue is absolutely stunning — with vineyards cascading down the hills, a breathtaking outdoor ceremony space, and a grand staircase that makes for the most incredible bridal entrance. During sunset, we took photos overlooking the rolling hills, and it felt like we were in another world — even though it’s only about 30 minutes from home!
We first met Whitney during our tour, and she instantly made us feel welcomed and taken care of. She was punctual, kind, and so helpful throughout the entire planning process. Whitney stayed on top of everything — from reminder emails to quick responses — and truly made wedding planning feel smooth and stress-free.
Booking Nella Terra also meant working with Simply Lovely Events and On The Vine Catering, which was an amazing bonus. Lindsay from Simply Lovely was phenomenal — she helped us through every detail and made our day so special. The catering team was just as great. Their tasting was delicious, and the food on our wedding day exceeded expectations.
The bridal cottage and groom’s area were great for pre-wedding moments and photos. While you can’t get fully ready in the bridal cottage, it was the perfect spot for final touches before the ceremony.
Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the venue was! The drive in is a bit winding, so we arranged for bus transportation — which worked out perfectly. There’s also plenty of parking for those who drive themselves.
I can’t recommend Nella Terra Cellars enough. They know what they’re doing and do it exceptionally well. Every single detail came together seamlessly, and we’ll look back on our wedding day forever with full hearts and huge smiles.Nella Terra Cellars's reply:

My husband and I visited 4 venues before visiting Nella Terra. After our visit, we knew Nella Terra was the wedding venue for us. It checked off all of our boxes. A tent wedding with lots of greenery and photo opportunities.
We had our wedding October 5,2024 and it was beautiful. We received so many compliments of Nella Terra being the best wedding venue our guests have ever been to. Whitney, her team, and our vendors were amazing.

Nella Terra is as beautiful as it looks! My husband and I got married here in September and both the venue itself and Nella Terra's team are exceptional. We allowed ourselves two years to plan, but having Nella Terra's preferred list of vendors made it so much easier. Kendall at Nella Terra was always available and ensured our special day went off without a hitch. Her and our team of vendors are truly superheroes! Nella Terra was the first venue we toured and we knew right away, it was the one. In September, the hills turn this gorgeous golden color and we took photos during sunset. The venue really speaks for itself and Nella Terra's team is incredibly skilled and coordinated. I couldn't imagine our wedding coming together like it did without their support!

My husband and I are 2 amateur event planners, working with Nella Terra Cellars, Simply Lovely Events, and On the Vine Catering was the perfect choice for our Ceremony! The venue was absolutely beautiful, and because it was a mid June wedding it was the perfect weather; our guests absolutely loved using the shuttle and they raved about Hors d’ Oeuvres during Cocktail Hour. We had a few hiccups before the Ceremony, but Tannya and Michelle were quick to communicate and help move the program along.Nella Terra Cellars's reply:

I had my wedding in October of 2023 and everything went amazing. We loved our wedding and the people we worked with at Nella Terra. Kendall was our point person throughout the whole process and we couldn't have asked for someone better to work with. She was so incredibly patient with this type A bride with a million and ten questions. Nella Terra does whatever they can on their end to make sure that your day is how you imagined it. Their packages are so convenient and customizable. They also have a solid variety of preferred vendors to choose from. Our guests all had an amazing time and loved our venue. Nella Terra was our hidden gem in the Bay Area and we were so excited to share it with all of our loved ones. All of our guests were in awe of our wedding and could not stop talking about how beautiful the venue was. The walk down the stairs is something the guests cannot stop talking about. I highly recommend this venue because every penny spent was worth it. -

Nella Terra is STUNNING! The moment Daniel and I stepped foot on the venue, we knew our search was over. There is a long and beautiful staircase surrounded by the grapevines, that makes for a statement grand entrance if you have your ceremony at the venue. The garden is so magical, and the beautiful waterfall makes for a great background for pictures/videos as you cross the bridge. The white tent is perfect, especially for a hot summer wedding, as it provides coverage from the sun, yet it allows some fresh air to pass through. We definitely recommend getting the white drapes for the tent, as it adds that extra touch of elegance! Let's not forget about the beautiful sunset that surrounds the property. DO NOT MISS OUT ON SUNSET PHOTOS!! We almost did, but I am telling you it is so beautiful, and so romantic as you step away from the chaos and get to spend some alone time with your forever partner!
We are extremely happy to have had our wedding at this gorgeous venue. The staff and all of the recommended vendors provided by Nella Terra was nothing short of amazing! We cannot stress how beautiful this place is! We highly recommend getting married here!Nella Terra Cellars's reply:

Nella Terra is our dream venue, and it truly feels like a dream that we were able to get married here!! Kendall and the entire family/staff at NT is incredible. They answered all of our questions and made us feel so welcomed every time we came for a visit. If you are looking for a winery to have the perfect wedding, this is the place. The first time we walked onto this venue we knew this is where we wanted to tie the knot. The team that runs Nella Terra communicates well and just fantastic to work with. They have a list of preferred vendors that they have already worked with and honestly that saves so much time trying to find reliable companies to work with. The wedding venue is stunning and holds 150+ people.
Or wedding day was even better than we imagined! When we first stepped onto the property we were just in awe with how beautiful it was. Kendall gave us a tour and we had plenty of questions that she was more than happy to answer. Our main question was the best month to get married which she told us June. So we chose June 17th, 2023. During June the grapevines are full of color that coexists with the beautiful golden hills that surrounds the property. This gives you the best of both worlds for amazing photo opportunities. The ceremony area is magical with tons of seats to fit a large party. It has a pergola that can be filled with flowers and has a beautiful pond and garden in the background. The Grooms getting ready area has a fun bocci court and shed that was filled with glasses and champagne while the Brides get a beautiful cottage that was freshly remodeled with beautiful décor. The brides cottage has a kitchen, huge bathroom and getting ready room. They have a huge tent for the reception which was a perfect choice during covid. The tent can be decorated with drapery which makes the whole place come together and would highly recommend. The venue provides a shuttle that goes around the property from and to the parking lot to the ceremony/reception area which was a huge benefit for our grandparents and guests with less mobility.
I cannot express enough how perfect our wedding was and we look forward to going back and enjoying Nella Terra's award winning wines. Thank you Nella Terra for hosting us!

Wow, how do I start? My husband and I initially got engaged during the pandemic and had a long engagement. Not only were we planning a wedding during the pandemic, but we were also doing so out of state! Whitney and the rest of the Nella Terra team were so kind and generous and helped us figure out the whole process- from planning to execution on the day of! We could not have had our perfect day without the NT team.
The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. It's this beautiful winery filled with grape vines and a lush pond tucked in between rolling hills. During our wedding, all of guests kept on telling us how beautiful the venue is. And wait until you see Nella Terra and the reception tent at golden hour.

My husband and I had our wedding here in late July 2022 and we couldn't be happier with how everything went. The site is beautiful, particularly in July and August when everything is lush. Food was extremely important to us, and while the caterer's food at our tasting was wonderful, it's only natural to be skeptical that it will be just as good on the wedding day, and yet it absolutely was (get the tri-tip carving station!). All of our guests had a great time and were blown away by the natural beauty of the venue, which was also a tremendous asset for our photographer - our sunset photos in front of the rolling golden hills look incredible. The venue had someone on-site during the day-of to make sure the groomsmen and bridesmaids had everything they needed, and to help ensure the whole thing went off without a hitch (thanks Bella!). Finally, the associated planner/coordinator, Simply Lovely Events, were phenomenal to work with (we relied on them heavily since we were planning from the other side of the country) and ran everything smoothly on the big day. Wedding of our Dreams!
My husband and I got married at Nella Terra last month (August 2022) and had the best wedding day, we couldn't be happier! From our initial visit last year we knew NT was the right place for us - from the beautiful ceremony spot, to the cocktail patio, and large reception tent - it had everything we were looking for and more.
Bella, our venue manager and contact, was especially helpful, communicative, easy to work with and made the wedding planning process very smooth. We used several of their recommended vendors and had a good experience working with their required vendors. We 100% wish we could do it all over again and would 100% recommend Nella Terra to anyone looking to get married in the area! Where do I even start? Our wedding day at Nella Terra Cellars was absolutely magical and stunning. Our wedding exceeded our expectations and I am a very particular person! The only negative we have was that we wish the day lasted forever and ever! The communication was always easy with our coordinators Kendall and Whitney. I was never left with any unanswered questions, they were so responsive and always made sure I was up to date on everything. They work so well with Simply Lovely Events, that all of our vendors were always on the same page. Everything is organized perfectly and left us saying to others that our wedding day was literally perfect, which not everyone can say after their wedding! There were no hiccups, everything was seamless and our guests continue to keep raving about how magical the evening was. I can't recommend Nella Terra Cellars enough to people for their special day. We have no regrets and wish we could relive that night over and over! Everything was so perfect and it is the most beautiful venue! Everyone we worked with was so nice and helpful. No matter what I needed they were able to make it work, they answered every question I had and were a joy to work with! Right when my now husband and I drove up to the venue we knew it was the one. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding day at Nella Terra Cellars. When we first stepped onto the property for a tour a year ago, we had a good feeling it was the right venue for us. Their team was wonderful to work with from the start, and very accommodating and helpful in the month leading up to the wedding and the day of. They made sure every detail was taken care of.
Several guests asked us how we found Nella Terra and said it was one of the most beautiful venues they’ve been to. The tent and gardens among the vineyards offered such a unique and gorgeous backdrop to our wedding, and we were beyond happy we chose to work with the team at Nella Terra and host our reception there.Nella Terra Cellars's reply:

Absolutely beautiful venue that fit our private & (mostly) outdoor wedding vision. The property has several great photo options including many amazing golden hour locations. The "natural breeze" we were concerned about turned out to be a blessing on a late June afternoon. It was also a joy to work with the Nella Terra family and their list of preferred vendors. All required and preferred vendor options were great quality with fair pricing . We were very happy with our planning & day of experiences. First wedding venue we toured and didn't look anywhere else. I mean, who would, this place is stunning, magical, romantic, and breathtaking.
Nella Terra isn't just a beautiful venue, but they also have a list of preferred vendors that will make your vision come to life (Many thanks to SLE wedding coordinators - Lindsay, Tannya and Olivia! You are the best!). Everyone at Nella Terra were very professional, helpful, very responsive and goes above and beyond (Bella, you are amazing!).
Our wedding was above expectations, and we couldn't be happier we made this choice! Everyone that attended our wedding expressed how beautiful and gorgeous the venue and all the details was. We cannot wait to be back to Nella Terra not just to enjoy their great wines but to celebrate many other occasions!

11/10, everything we could have ever dreamed of and more!
If you are thinking about having your wedding here- DO IT! We toured several places, and there was nothing like Nella Terra. The venue itself is STUNNING, and not to mention they have amazing wine as well. The venue manager(s) were very kind, helpful, organized and responsive. A gorgeous wedding venue and vineyard!
Nella Terra was one of three venues for our multicultural wedding celebration, and we can’t say enough great things about it! The venue is just stunning, and looked just as amazing in photos as it did in person — we’re big nature people and love wine, so the vineyard was a perfect backdrop for our special day. There are SO many great spots for photos, whether it’s for your first look, family photos, bridal party photos, etc. One of the silver linings of the pandemic was that because we postponed, we got to spend a lot of time at Nella Terra before our wedding day — we can confirm that it’s beautiful all-year round! We also got to know the Nella Terra team and event staff quite well, they were an absolute blast to work with. Very friendly and organized, and helped make our wedding run smoothly! We were also fortunate to work with many of the vendors on their preferred vendor list, and all of them were amazing. We’ll add too that the guest experience is equally wonderful, we received a ton of compliments from our family and friends in attendance. All in all, we are SO happy to have had part of our wedding celebration at Nella Terra — what an incredibly gorgeous and accommodating venue. Wow! What an amazing venue and group of people to work with. Nella Terra Cellars was everything (and more) for what we wanted in a wedding venue. From the grand staircase, to the cocktail area, the reception tent, the venue is truly romantic and unique. We had the pleasure of working with Whitney and Kendall to make our wedding day vision come to life. The venue has a few required vendors that you need to work with, but they did NOT disappoint! We received so many compliments from our special day and wish we could do it all over again. The contract and booking process was seamless and straight forward even with all of the uncertainty with COVID. They constantly kept us up to date with the covid protocols whenever the county updated them and we felt very safe and comfortable having our wedding here. It was truly an unforgettable day. I am so glad that we ended up at NTC! -

Like many 2020 brides, we had to postpone our June 2020 wedding a full calendar year. While postponing was emotionally stressful, Whitney and team made the process very smooth. They answered all of my emails and calls quickly and calmed all of my anxiety. The venue itself is stunning!! All of my guests kept commenting on how beautiful it was. Every corner of it is picturesque and awed our guests from the bay area and out of town alike. We wanted a winery that wasn't too far from major airports and also felt private, which seemed tricky to attain as many wineries are open to the public even the day of weddings. Since Nella Terra is a private winery and tucked away in the hillside, but close enough to major cities and airports, it checked all our boxes and more! Not to mention the staircase entrance for the processional--I had guests say they gasped when they saw me because it was so striking! The vendors they require you to work with are wonderful as well--it's a large property so very helpful to have vendors who know the grounds through and through. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend Nella Terra. I keep saying that I want a friend to get married here so I can experience it as a guest! Hidden Gem!
Nella Terra is one of the reasons why our wedding was so perfect. The venue itself is the most beautiful little oasis with so many different gorgeous areas for photos. Take your pick from the golden hills, lush green vines, ponds, etc. The landscaping of the venue is great. Our photos turned out amazing, especially sunset photos taken on the hills. There is a beautiful long staircase that the bride is able to make her grand entrance from for the ceremony, which makes you feel like Cinderella entering the ball. There is also a great place to set up for cocktails right outside the reception tent area, which makes the transition from cocktails to reception seamless. We also were able to have a cornhole game set up and a firepit lounge area to keep guests entertained during cocktails, giving you plenty of time to take photos uninterrupted. This venue has something for everyone. Not only is this a beautiful setting for your special day, the staff is extra attentive. We had champagne in the cutest country-style bridal suite, and the boys had their own area to hang out in prior to the ceremony. Whitney from Nella Terra went above and beyond to assist us with any questions we had during our planning process, and we were even surprised at the end of the reception with our names projected onto the hills, which was so special. We were so lucky to have found Nella Terra, and if we could go back and do it all over again, we would choose Nella Terra in a heartbeat.Nella Terra Cellars's reply:

Stunning Wedding Venue
My husband and I cannot say enough great things about Nella Terra Cellars. Our wedding was everything we could have asked for.
I knew I love the venue from the pictures online, but from the minute we arrived to tour we were sold on the team and their level of service. They absolutely know what they’re doing and it really seemed like they were genuinely excited about our wedding day.
They always say to expect the unexpected, and thats exactly what happened during our reception when a wildfire broke out on the hillside near us. If it weren’t for the announcement, I’m not sure I would have even noticed. The team made sure everything still ran smoothly even though we were “sheltering in place.”

My husband and I got married about a year ago at Nella Terra, and we continue to be in awe at the BEAUTY, UNIQUENESS, KINDNESS OF STAFF, and of course all the magical moments we had while celebrating our marriage that Nella Terra helped make possible.
When my husband and I started our wedding venue shopping, we were looking for a venue that represented California, had the capacity of being able to accommodate our large wedding party/guests, and full of natural beauty. We quickly learned that Nella Terra hit all these points for us, and so many more.
First off, Nella Terra is an absolute diamond of a wedding venue and offers the whole package. It is truly a hidden gem, nestled in the rolling golden CA hills (which was a must have on my husband’s list). The grounds are absolutely stunning, and truly picturesque, there are so many beautiful photography spots. We loved how the ceremony site was only a few steps away from the reception area, and the gazebo for cocktail hour is a great place for all your guests to enjoy a glass of wine or beer before the reception starts! As the bride, one of my favorite things about Nella Terra is the grand cascading staircase. It makes for the perfect entrance to the beginning of such a breathtaking and magical wedding day. I continue to cherish that moment walking down the staircase, taking the whole venue in and seeing all our wedding plans come to life.
A few other items that we would like to mention:
The benefit of having the option for “indoor” and outdoor. Having the large tent for the reception could be used for the ceremony if weather doesn’t cooperate. Even though the venue is quite large, having a smaller more intimate wedding, particularly during social distancing times would be absolutely beautiful and would still be able to provide you with the same beautiful and magical wedding day experience that you are dreaming of. There is TONS of parking for all your guests. The bridal cottage is so cute, and a fun place for the bride and all her gals to hangout in before the big moment!
The Catering company that Nella Terra uses is stellar! Loved working with On the Vine catering. From the moment of signing our wedding contract with Nella Terra, to the tasting and then having our menu come to life on our wedding day was flawless! We had so many complements from our guests! We really liked that you could do a dual entrée, so guests could have a plated dinner and receive both salmon and steak. We liked that the decision for a catering company was already decided for us, takes the headache out of researching and booking a company. We thoroughly loved the food and would highly recommend!
We cannot say enough about the Nella Terra Staff; very professional, responsive, and accommodating to certain questions and requests my husband and I had. We loved that Nella Terra made us feel like family and there were so many personal touches that made us feel special. Thank you to Whitney, Kendall, and Sharde for all their hard work that helped make our day super special and flawless and all other Nella Terra staff working behind the scenes.
This review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning their wine. Absolutely delicious, and there are many varieties to choose from! We are big pinot noir fans, and their wine does not disappoint! We are proud Nella terra wine club members and look forward to swinging by the winery to pick up our quarterly shipments, it is a way for us to enjoy the grounds and the beauty that Nella Terra offers. Not to mention reliving our wedding day each time we pick up our wine shipment.
So, you must add Nella Terra to your list of venues to visit, and if you are like us, will quickly realize it is a one of a kind wedding venue!

We had our wedding at Nella Terra two years ago and it was fantastic and amazingly beautiful. The venue is a gorgeous winery and has a beautiful view of the hills of Sunol. Sunset was gorgeous.
They were very flexible with guests coming and once you know where it is up the dirt road, it is nice to be removed from houses so you do not have to worry about noises or being too loud. :) -

When we were dropped off at the venue, we had a lovely walk through the vineyard to the wedding location. The views of the countryside, the vineyard, the wedding site and the reception tent were stunning. We were surrounded by beauty. We were able to socialize with a glass of wine under the pergola before the start of the ceremony which was such a lovely concept. Then, we were seated for the wedding in the sunny open air that only California can deliver. After the ceremony, we enjoyed several appetizer stations placed throughout the area where chefs were preparing their specialty on site. You also had time to stroll around the grounds and take in all its’ beauty. Entering the reception tent was truly magical. The table décor, flowers, and personal place settings were exquisite and the attention to detail was impeccable. We absolutely love Nella Terra! Like many 2020 couples, we had to postpone our wedding celebration due to COVID, but we've visited Nella Terra several times (for wine tastings and events) since booking with them, and we can't wait to finally have our wedding there. It's a gorgeous, secluded vineyard with stunning scenery and a dreamy reception tent, and we've loved getting to know the team during the tastings! The amazing venue has scenic overlooks, intimate walks, and beautiful landscaping perfect for any size wedding and every picture you and your guests could dream of taking!
The event was seamless from parking to the last dance. One of our favorite memories was wine tasting on the patio during cocktail hour. Our friends exclusively offered wine from the vineyard itself during cocktail hour and dinner. It was a complex, aromatic, easy to drink wine.
A memorable night led to us contacting Nella Terra to buy multiple cases of wine. From Christmas gifts to a Zoom wine tasting last month this wine has been a crowd-pleaser. Nella Terra was a dream come true! If you're looking for the perfect location for an unforgettable wedding... look no further! My husband (boyfriend at the time), family, and I were actually just wine tasting at Nella Terra for the day when my husband said... "I don't know about you... but I am getting married here!" We were not even engaged yet (haha), that is how in love we were with not only each other, but the location as well! That same day- I contacted Nella Terra and got a wedding date on the calendar for a year later. Everything ran smoothly leading up to the wedding. The wedding coordinators do everything in their power to make the bride and groom's dreams a reality. The actual wedding day was perfection. I run high on anxiety but my worries melted away with the care and effort from the NT staff. The bridal cottage was everything... walking down the long elegant stairs made me feel like an absolute princess... the atmosphere was magical. Since our wedding- we have received countless comments from wedding guests commenting that it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to. I have dreamed of my wedding my whole life- and it was better than I could have imagined.
PS. We named our dog 'Nella,' after Nella Terra so if that doesn't tell you how AMAZING it is- I'm not sure what does. -

Beautiful, fun, and went off without a hitch!
I was a bridesmaid in an absolutely beautiful and impeccably executed wedding at this winery. The bridal suite was perfect for getting ready and enjoying some bubbly before the ceremony. There are so many amazingly scenic spots throughout the grounds for photos. The ceremony and photo shoot took place at the top of the hill with beautiful rolling green hills in the background. This place is so idyllic it doesn't feel like it should be long in the SF bay area.
The cocktail hour was fun with live music, and when we were ushered into the tent for the reception I was surprised by how romantic and spacious it felt. Every little detail was perfect, and the onsite coordinator helped make sure everyone was where they needed to be when they needed to be there without coming off as demanding. This was by far the most well organized wedding I've been to (including my own!) and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. I plan on recommending this place to my friends who will be getting married in the future, because I would love to attend a wedding there again!.Nella Terra Cellars's reply:

Nella Terra is a show stopper. I remember the first time we toured, we knew immediately this was where we wanted to get married. It's such a beautiful venue, with the rolling hillside, pond and tent with twinkly lights everywhere. Our guests haven't stopped raving about it being the most beautiful wedding they've been to, and a large part of it is with Nella Terra you get everything you could possibly want. Our only regret was how fast the day itself went, we barely got to soak in all we wanted from the fairytale-like pond/gardens, to bocce ball, and the lovely fire pit outside. It only means we'll for sure be back to visit and look back on the most perfect night :) We are SO appreciative for the most magical memories we'll cherish for a lifetime. The staff at Nella Terra really made the day perfect for all of us, including a day-of gift of a larger dance floor (which we put to good use). I just want to put out there that I planned this wedding from OH and I luckily chose 3 places to visit when finding a venue and this place was the top and surpassed all of my expectations. Once we booked it, Whitney, Kendall and the entire team were so accommodating. They replied fast (especially for a nervous bride) and they were so helpful in giving us the best advice regarding venue and and weather and wines.
The day of the wedding, I hadn't been at the venue for 1 year and honestly it made me fall in love again. It doesn't need much to decorate a place which is already beautiful on its own. This is a family run venue that really puts in all the effort possible in making sure their guests have the best time. All of my guests loved the venue, between the open air, heated tent, fire pit outside...it just fit and it fit us as a couple. I would chose this place over and over if I were to do it again and I have no complaints aside from the fact that I wish I could have spent more time there because they made it such a fantastic night. We found Nella Terra through here because we were looking for a nice winery in the bay area. A lot of nice wedding venues are not nearby, so it was great that Nella Terra was located so close to our home. I fell in love with their reception area and beautiful greenery. The tent is very spacious and looks amazing with all the lights and decor. We originally booked for an April wedding in 2020 but because of COVID, we had to postpone. It was a confusing and uncertain time, but Nella Terra was flexible and we postponed it to August 2020 and then again to April 2021. Throughout the planning process, we worked with Kendall and she always answered all our questions promptly and she always reached out to give us updates about COVID regulations and the venue. It was really easy to work with Kendall and their team is super professional! If you do plan to book Nella Terra, be advised that you will have to work with their preferred caterer and wedding coordinator (or pay an additional fee). The wedding day went so smoothly and all our guests had an amazing time despite COVID regulations (wearing masks, tent doors being open, social distancing, etc). Highly recommend having a summer wedding to really see Nella Terra in all its glory (and not be so cold as it was super windy for us!). Jessica Sent on 12/05/2017My wife Jessica and I were married at Nella Terra Cellars on September 15th, 2017. We used Palmdale Estates Catering as our caterer. Leann Jackson was our event manager and Yoselin Ontiveros was our ceremony coordinator.
From the moment we walked onto the Nella Terra property on a tour with Lindsey Caravelli (a former sales person), we knew that it was the venue for us. The property is absolutely stunning. It was vast and expansive while also feeling intimate and romantic. While reviewing our venue options, we referred to it as “the one with the stairs”, as the aisle to the ceremony site is a long descending set of stairs. It was a gorgeous way for Jessica to make her grand entrance. On the day of our wedding, it couldn’t have been more beautiful.
Our experience working with Nella Terra and Palmdale was mixed. While we were very happy with our final result, we ran into many small snags along the way. There were changing policies (how alcoholic beverages could be served), sales promises that weren’t able to be kept after contracting (using the fire pit for a s’more based dessert bar), and confusions over contract language (the additional cost for venue and bride having early access to the property). We had consistent communication from the team, but it wasn’t always clear, and we often had to follow up multiple times on requests.
The staff at Nella Terra went out of their way to help make our day special. From providing golf cart transportation for the photographer and us as the couple for photo opportunities, to a very special surprise at the end of the night, the staff went above and beyond.
At the end of the day, Nella Terra was the perfect venue for our wedding. We were so happy we chose it. Thank you Nella Terra and Palmdale! -

My husband and I got married at Nella Terra this past June 2021 which was in the middle of COVID on the verge of fully opening up. We chose Nella Terra in January of 2020 and already thought the venue was gorgeous in the middle of winter, so imagine how blown away we were when we stepped foot on the venue at its peak in June with the grape vines in full bloom, the hills golden, and the tent elevated and decorated. It was an ideal place to get married in the middle of the pandemic because of the outdoor ceremony and the ability for the reception tent to completely raise its side panels to be open to air. Nella Terra required or recommended several vendors which made it easy for us to move forward with planning, not having to worry about planning important details and running the show (Simply Lovely Events were star wedding planners and coordinators), catering (On the Vine cooked delicious and top quality food with efficient service), where to rent our glassware and linens and design our tablescape (Pleasanton Rentals), and the recommended florists and required DJs that really knew their way around the venue (we used The Flower House and Soundwave Mobile DJ).
As you might imagine, COVID was a whirlwind of a time to get married which was an extremely unpredictable time in which additional backup planning was required. We planned to keep our date no matter what as my husband and I were both graduating from graduate and medical school and planned to move out of state for his residency that started shortly after the wedding. There was no other time we could get married if we wanted to stay local and be accessible to our family and friends from home. However we were worried about the requirement of meeting guest count minimums of 150 guests or $15,000 for F&B for a Saturday June wedding due to COVID restricting travel and gatherings and because many of our family were on complete lockdown in their countries in Canada and the Philippines. We communicated this fear to Whitney as early as 1 year before our wedding and we were told to have plan A, B, and C guest lists. This was fair and we did this early on. 5 months before the wedding we checked in again and communicated concerns about not being able to meet minimums and asked what their policy would be if we could not meet them. Whitney emailed back assuring us that they did not have a set policy, but they would be flexible and work with us wherever we land with either guest count or F&B minimums, stating they understood the unpredictability of the times. This gave us a sense of relief, though we still did everything we could to fill these minimums. A couple months prior to the wedding, our final guest count landed at 115 after inviting all the backup guests (and then some) as we received many declines due to COVID and travel restrictions. We were under the impression based on prior emails that we would be okay with that guest count. Perhaps this was our mistake for not following up for a 3rd time and we acknowledge that misstep on our part. Just 4 days before the final payment was due, Whitney dropped an email bomb that we did not meet our minimums and were short nearly $2,000. At such a late point so close to the wedding (and after attempting to clarify the policies very early on and organize our finances), we were caught off guard and upset. She stated she waited until catering got back from their week-long vacation to see if we were hitting minimums which is why she told us just then. Honestly we would have appreciated a heads up far in advance of this time. Also, we understand that COVID hit the wedding industry especially hard. We completely understand the need to keep the business afloat and enforce minimums. Therefore, the issue was not that, but the fact that this was miscommunicated to us and that we were given a false sense of reassurance and security that they would meet us where we landed and be flexible as they had no set policy. After speaking with Whitney and communicating this to her, she dodged directly answering our questions that brought attention to what was discussed prior in the emails and she simply stated that we needed to meet the minimums according to their policy. I could even forgive the fact that we had to pay for last minute upgrades if there was at least an acknowledgement of the miscommunication on their part because it felt like they were not willing to take accountability and simply not empathizing with our situation. After much frustrated discussion, lots of frantic last minute emails to vendors, and finally securing the finances needed for last minute expenses, we were able to spend for the additional food and beverage upgrades that met the requirement just in the nick of time for the final payment (which she did give us flexibility on paying since we were making such last minute changes). Whitney thanked us for putting in the effort and explained that they are a business and need to stay afloat and set boundaries. I believe she finally made a small apology after we stated once more that we wish we were clear on this policy much sooner. We did appreciate this but again wish she said this early on instead of after multiple conversations figuring out how exactly to meet these minimums.
We were absolutely happy with how our wedding turned out. I would not change our wedding venue or our day at all. It was beautiful and the day itself ran so smoothly. But the journey to get there was a bumpy ride and was just as stressful. I have no doubt that COVID contributed to this for a multitude of reasons and for that I do empathize with the team. However, communication and transparency are vital to the industry in addition to a beautiful and seamless wedding. Planning a wedding is already so financially and emotionally difficult, let alone in the middle of a pandemic. And so I believe a venue’s rating should account for how they handled these bumps along the way. Would I recommend Nella Terra? Yes, but with a word of caution. -

The first thing to be said about this venue is that it is undeniably beautiful. We fell in love with it the second we stepped foot onto it and both the ceremony and reception area are gorgeous and is definitely worth a 5 star rating. My reason for giving it a 2.5 is due to the venue management. It felt as though they tried to manipulate ways to squeeze every dollar out of you (which I guess is the wedding industry in general). The first sign that something felt off was when they informed us of free wine club membership for a year if you were getting married, which we of course agreed to. We later found out after the first shipment that you have to pay for 1 year before receiving the free year. Just a little deceptive. The worst of it all was when we had to reschedule the wedding due to COVID. Our initial date was 8/1/20, at which point large gatherings were not allowed at all so we did not have the option to have the wedding whatsoever. We had already paid a premium price for a Saturday spot, and were told we would need to pay an extra $9000 to rebook to another Saturday spot. Their reasoning for the extra $9000 was so they could keep afloat. The wedding contract had an Act Of God clause, which stated they would reschedule for free should an Act Of God (like COVID) occur. Their interpretation of that clause was to reschedule to a weekday, without a refund for what we had already paid to have a Saturday wedding. I understand many businesses struggled during COVID, but $9000 seemed extremely steep, especially considering they are now hosting weddings during the week and instead of 3 weddings a weekend they have 4-7 per week/weekend. Due to the unreasonable rescheduling fee, we had asked to pull out of the entire wedding and find a different venue, but they refused to refund us the $20K we had already put down and we were therefore forced to pay the $9000 ,as having a Saturday wedding was extremely important to us. We were definitely backed into a corner. We also had to reach out to them to reschedule rather than them reach out to us, and got extremely lucky we reached out when we did, as we booked the last comparable date to our original wedding. We also had difficulties with communication with them a month out from our wedding. We sent emails with a few questions we had regarding the day of and were not able to get a response until we had a meeting with our wedding coordinator (who is required by the venue, but honestly did an amazing job and was absolutely worth it!) and the venue. There was also an issue around billing, as our initial guest count was smaller than our actual guest count. When we paid, we informed them the payment they had asked was for the smaller guest count and needed to be changed, and they told us that it was fine. The week of the wedding, we received a call from them informing us that we had an overdue balance for the extra guest count. This call made it appeared as though the error was on our end, even though we had informed them at the time of payment that the guest count was wrong. So overall, I give the venue itself a 5 visually, but the venue management a 1 or 2. -

I am writing a new review because Nella Terra got my first one removed. I was a direct client of theirs so I don’t know why they are trying to sweep us under the rug after treating us the way they did. All of my friends and family know that I am not one to complain and it takes a lot to get me upset. Working with Nella Terra has brought out the worst in me and justifiably so because despite the pandemic and wanting to protect my family/friends, Nella Terra was not understanding nor accommodating (as much as they claim to be). We weren’t the only ones who felt this way—many couples who signed a contract with NT felt the same. My mission now is to share my experience with others about the past 6 months dealing with this establishment.
Nella Terra made the whole rescheduling a nightmare when COVID happened. Though my fiancé and I got our money back (half from NT directly and other half from filing a dispute with our credit card company), they held on to ALL of our money ALL summer long, even months after our wedding date had already passed in May 2020. We’ve had phone calls and e-mail exchanges, only to hear the same thing. We felt alone until one of the other couples reached out to us. And I’m so glad they did. Together we were able to go to ABC7 News. Nella Terra caused us so much unnecessary heartache and stress. All we wanted was to reschedule to another Saturday in 2021 without being charged another $9,000 deposit fee so we can worry about more important things. Their own contract stated that if an Act of God were to occur, they would reschedule the event pending availability at no additional cost... what made it worse is they tried to justify why they couldn’t follow that part of their contract and that they can only offer us Mon-Thurs weekday weddings or weekend mornings. They held on to all our money, therefore I couldn’t reschedule ANYWHERE. For months, I held off my wedding. For months, I could’ve rescheduled somewhere else for next Summer. For months, I was sad. I don’t want another bride to feel this way with Nella Terra. I want to warn others to read their contract and get legal advice before signing any contract with them. You will learn that their contract is geared to protecting their company—not you. This venue is no doubt a beautiful one... That’s the only thing I’m not denying. Their business, however, is questionable. A business that’s questionable isn’t worth your happiness, time, effort, and money. -

My fiance and I were overjoyed when we decided to host our wedding at Nella Tella. As Fremont natives it was incredibly exciting to get married in our hometown and somewhere close to our elderly parents who could attend with little to no problems. We decided to pay Nella Terra's exorbitant fees for a Friday night wedding in September 2020. Everything was going well until the COVID-19 pandemic started earlier this year. We did not hear a word from Nella Terra during the early stages of the pandemic until our second payment was due. At this point Nella Terra did not mention anything regarding postponing the payment, delaying our event, or any mention of the pandemic and its effects on weddings in 2020. It was clear they just wanted their money.
We didn't hear anything back from Nella Terra until my fiance and I got ansty in March as the country shut down and the pandemic set in on the entire world. We expressed our concerns with hosting a wedding at their venue and particularly the safety of our parents, grandparents, and other at risk groups. Nella Terra did not appear concerned about the pandemic and assured us that it would be a non-issue for weddings in September, they were wrong. As the pandemic grew out of control through the summer we still never heard from Nella Terra until we again reached out reiterating our concerns from before and asking for a refund because it was clear that Nella Terra wouldn't be able to host what we agreed to originally. At this point Nella Terra was willing to admit that the pandemic was an issue and offered us some options to reschedule. These options were not reasonable and left us feeling like Nella Terra was trying to maximize their profit for 2020 and 2021. For example, after paying a high premium for an in wedding season evening event, Nella Terra offers us a Saturday morning (we would have to be out of sight by 2pm for the night wedding). The worst part is, if we want to host a wedding on a Friday in September 2021, we would have to pay an additional deposit of $6,000. According to Whitney, our original deposit "vanished".
It is clear Nella Terra is not interested in dealing with couples currently affected by this pandemic because they are still advertising venue tours for new couples and various other options for reduced priced events. None of these options were made available to us because Nella Terra is only interested in maximizing the amount of money they can make during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At this point, the idea of our dream wedding is long gone. We would never have agreed to a contract with Nella Terra if we had known what kind of people we were dealing with. We just want our money back and to move on. We all have better things to do with our lives, especially right now. For some reason Nella Terra continues to draw this out in the hopes we will cancel and they can enforce their contract and run away with our money without providing any services.

Danielle Sent on 03/21/2020Horrible Experience with Nella Terra Cellars
I am a bride, like many, who has been impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown. My fiancé and I decided to get married at Nella Terra Cellars in June of 2020. While it was disappointing that California mandates prevented us from having our wedding, it was desolating the way in which Nella Terra chose to handle the situation. I am sharing our story in the hopes of preventing others from living through the nightmare of our last six months.
After spending a year painstakingly planning our wedding, we found ourselves in the unenviable position of having to now dismantle our special day. We reached out to NT in early March and quickly realized that they were woefully unprepared for what the pandemic would mean to their business. Over the course of many months and many MANY conversations, they refused to replace our wedding date with a comparable date without penalty, as per stated in their contract. We finally asked for a refund and begged them to just let us move on. The owner laughed and said, "that is not going to happen". He told us to "read the contract" and check with other venues.
So I spent more time checking with other venues because we really wanted to be fair about our expectations from NT. Every venue we spoke with was shocked to hear of our experience with NT. They stated, "impacted couples will receive a full refund or at minimum, the option to reschedule to an open date of their choosing in 2020 or 2021, at no additional cost".
I can't begin to describe the amount of stress and frustration this was having on our daily lives. Wasn't this supposed to be such a happy time? Instead we were trying to figure out what to tell all the people we contracted with who held sizeable deposits; photographer, band, videographer, florist, and tailor. If you have an event at NT you are forced to use their caterer and event coordinator and make no mistake, they work for NT, not you.
After so many months of back and forth, NT still holds a lot of our money. If you are planning a future wedding, please be careful about giving too much money to a venue during these uncertain times and by all means stay away from Nella Terra Cellars. Don't be swayed by the numerous glowing posts on yelp, as they had all the negative reviews taken down.
