We had a great experience with Music By Design! All the information was very organized on the portal leading up to the event. I was definitely nervous about the DJ as he is the person who sets a lot of the tone for the reception, and our DJ really put my mind at ease during our final phone call the week of. Wedding DJ
When planning our wedding, my husband and I primarily wanted to dance the night away. Our motto was banger after banger and DJ Jim was able to fulfill that for us. We had an absolute blast dancing at our wedding and Jim was able to keep the dance floor packed the whole time. I loved how we were able to customize our music, making sure that we got what we wanted. We could not have asked for a better night.

Jim was absolutely phenomenal as our wedding DJ! He brought such great energy, kept the night flowing smoothly, and had everyone out on the dance floor. Amazing experience from beginning to end!
John was so thoughtful in the initial conversation, we honestly had no real idea of specific songs aside from a few. We gave him the vibe and he did the rest.
The ceremony music was perfect. The dinner music was exactly what we wanted.
OMG The reception was SO MUCH FUN! The dance floor was packed all night long. John lead a dance - amazing!!
It was perfect! Everyone was talking about how much fun he made the night!!!

DJ Jim - best DJ EVER!!
DJ Jim from MBD was the best decision we could have ever made!! I had read a review about MBD DJ's and someone had recommended DJ Jim. He was everything they said and more - he kept the crowd on the dancefloor the entire night!! He listened to what our vibe was for cocktail hour, and reception, and never missed a beat. He definitely knows how to read the crowd and keep them engaged. Only thing - I wish we didn't end when we did!! He could have kept everyone on the dancefloor even longer! Best value, kindest guy, so easy to work with - if music is even remotely important to you, it definitely is worth the money to use a professional instead of just using your Spotify playlist!! Have already recommended him to upcoming brides!

Excellent DJ
MBD was easy to work with and great at communicating. Our DJ, Kevin, was amazing. He took the time to listen to what we wanted played and knew the right moments to play certain songs. Our dance floor was packed the entire night from the moment that part of the wedding started until the very last song. He had great energy and did frequent check ins to make sure we were on schedule for everything. Could not recommend this company enough!

We could not recommend DJ Jim from Music By Design more!! He is incredible at what he does and had the everything running smoothly all night. He is incredibly professional, upbeat, and great to work with! He made sure the night was SO FUN with his awesome play lists and also ran our microphone to keep on schedule. DJ John is the Best!
John with Music by Design was the best DJ we could have asked for! He was professional, fun, and went above and beyond for us. Right before our outdoor ceremony, our glass containers for our sand unity ceremony blew off a table and shattered. When John heard about this, he worked with our best man to find replacement containers at our venue and reset the table. The table was reset so perfectly that we didn't even notice the original containers had broken! John had a flawless system for taking song requests. With our permission beforehand, he passed out papers during dinner where anyone who wanted to, could write down song requests. He met with our wedding party and told them to mark their requests with a star so he knew to prioritize them, which we loved! In addition to this, Music by Design had an extensive online platform where we were able to input all of our important event songs, our personal song requests, and our "do not play" songs. Several days before our wedding, we had a video call with John where he went over this list with us to make sure everything was accurate. With Music by Design's online platform and John's thorough walk through during our video call, we were confident the music was going to be perfect! And we were right. John has a talent for reading a crowd and playing music people want to hear. There was not a single moment that our dance floor was empty. He kept people dancing for nearly 4 hours! We couldn't be happier with our experience with John of Music by Design!

The staff at Music by Design was so easy to work with and made our planning so smooth with their online portal. From the moment we booked with Music By Design for our September 2024 wedding yhey were nothing but professional and amazing! They always responded back quickly whenever we had questions. Their online planning form was so easy to use. When we finally got to our big day, our DJ Jim was absolutely incredible! He made our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception run so smoothly. He made sure to stick to our must play and do not playlists while making sure the music was mixed in genre. Our dance floor was not empty the whole night! Everyone danced all night!
Jim was great and made a big impact on our day! He was quick and ready to help with a few problems that came up and he had the solution ready before he even thought it to me or my husband. His energy was great and kept people dancing all night long. In our pre planning call I told him that the most important part was the good vibes and to keep everyone dancing. A few songs were played off of our do not play list but everyone loved them and it kept people dancing so it wasn’t an issue in the long run! Everyone danced until the venue closed! Really helped in making the day so beautiful!

Stress Free Experience! Made our wedding memorable!
Working with Music By Design was the best. They are super responsive through email. I personally built my own playlists through Spotify and they were so helpful with that process and helping me with the links.
Our Dj David was honestly a heaven sent. My brother in law was our officiant for the wedding and this was his first time doing so. He said that David was setting up the music/mic for the ceremony site, and even giving him pointers on what to say to the crowd. My brother in law was so grateful for David’s help! With the ceremony he made my vision come to life. David also made it a less stressful ceremony process!
Then for our reception, it was absolutely perfect! He even included our Polish tradition to sing “Sto Lat”. And when the older guests were sitting down, he made sure to include them by playing the Polish songs I had included in the playlist. He works wonders with the crowd! Also his level of professionalism was out of this world. I spoke with David on the phone and said I wanted our wedding to feel like a club and for it to not feel like a “cheesy” wedding. David made it feel like I was at the club!
We had such a good time that people are still talking about our wedding! Thank you David and Music By Design! Our wedding was perfect!

Our DJ (David S) was just what we needed! So helpful assisting our wedding timelines! Don’t know what we’d done without him! My concern was also not to have someone corny nor chatty and he was just perfect! A class act! Our music playlist was also perfect (I was told by many!)! It mixed the crowd all night rather than young/now music taking totally over rendering the older guests sitting in the sidelines, the dance floor was always hoppin! We felt really fortunate to have selected this company and to have gotten DS for our DJ!

We danced all night
I loved the planning sheet that Music By Design provides. We had a lot of songs that we really wanted to hear and quite a few we did not. The sheet made that so easy, and was such a great reference for planning the ceremony. They also provided the photo booth, which was a lot of fun.

We had a great experience with Music by Design, and specifically our DJ Jim. He was consistently responsive and helpful during our planning process. What complimented this was Music by Design’s intuitive and interactive planning form online. It allowed us to get as specific as we wanted in terms of what music we wanted played, our wedding day timeline, and various other items. Outside of this, what we were particularly impressed with was how helpful and attentive Jim was on our wedding day. He went the extra mile to ensure we did not have to worry about anything on our big day. He also effectively mixed all songs and genres that we requested while keeping the dance floor full throughout the night. We would highly recommend Music by Design, and DJ Jim!

MBD was wonderful to work with, and we would definitely hire them again. Every person we spoke with was courteous and professional. Any questions we had were answered very quickly. The online portal was a great way to keep track of our music list and it was easy to use. The music library was expansive. There were lists of popular wedding songs that we used when we needed inspiration. MBD was also able to play a Ukrainian song at our wedding that was not in their library. We wanted specific versions of songs during our ceremony, and MBD was able to accommodate that. We also felt like the price was reasonable.
Our wedding DJ was Charlie. He was awesome! We received so many compliments on the music, from cocktail hour to dinner to dancing. We told him generally what type of music we liked and the ambiance we wanted, and he hit it out of the park. Charlie was familiar with our venue, so we did not have to worry about him setting up. He was flexible when we made last-minute changes. Overall, we would not change a thing about our wedding day.
We highly recommend Charlie and MBD.

Hire them for your dj needs!!
We are overjoyed with our choice in going with Music By Design as our DJ for our wedding. Jim was our DJ, and he was absolutely phenomenal. He got in contact with us a couple days before the wedding to make sure that our music selection was correct. They even downloaded the correct songs, so that the right version was playing at our wedding. Jim was incredible. He was truly better than our wedding planner and constantly checked in with us to make sure that things were on track. If some thing went off plan, he let us know so that we were kept in the loop. He knew the right songs to play and went to play them as the dance floor was full the entire night. Any songs that we said we absolutely had to hear that night, we heard and could not have had more fun. We would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a wedding that is looking to use a DJ. Our DJ James was amazing! I filled out a form that asked which songs I wanted and what the timeline was for the wedding. He did a great job keeping our wedding on schedule and he had a great playlist using the songs I requested. We had a great experience with Music By Design! Our original DJ had a family emergency and wasn't able to make it, but they had two replacements ready and waiting by the time we got to the reception hall. After a brief intro and questions they were able to run through the schedule that we had planned and everything went smoothly from there. We wanted our reception to have a strong focus on the guests and their entertainment, and as MCs, our DJs were able to smoothly transition between the different elements of our reception and did not pull attention away from the main event. They played the songs that we had requested through the planning tool and filled in the rest of the time with appropriate selections like we discussed. We had a few comments from guests saying that the music and dancing were great and they felt like the music selection got them on the dance floor significantly more than at other weddings. We would recommend them to others!

Amazing Experience with DJ Noah
We got married in October of 2022 and are still hearing from all of our guests what a wonderful wedding it was, mostly because we made music a priority! Stephen, our DJ, was phenomenal. Made sure our time was great and he was very attentive. What I most appreciated was when guests would request a song, he'd just check in with us and make sure it was okay. Smooth DJ for the entire celebration!

We could not be more happy about our experience with Musicbydesign. The entire planning process was painless and super easy. They were so pleasant to work with and catered to all of our specific requests.
Charlie Vasseur was our DJ and he was absolutely amazing. He gave us a call a couple days before to go over details. We gave him a list of requests to fill an hour or two of the reception. His picks for the rest of the time fit perfectly with our preferences and our wide variety of guest ages. Our guests are still talking about how amazing Charlie was. The dance floor was packed the entire night. He even played “Firework” by Katy Perry during the Navy Pier fireworks show visible from our venue.
The photobooth was a hit and came with a lot of props and a photo album to take home. Thank you Ani for making sure our guests knew how to use the booth and for putting our album together.

David kept people engaged and kept the event running smoothly. The photobooth staff was amazing as well!! The props were adorable and the book they send you home with is amazing! Best Party Ever
We used Music by Design for our April 2022 wedding, and they could not have been more wonderful! The company itself was so easy to work with setting everything up (and they were great about working with us moving from 2021 to 2022). Jim was our DJ and he was amazing - he really got the vibe of the wedding we were going for, and we had people on the dance floor the whole night. We're so appreciative about how wonderful they helped make our wedding!

DJ Jim was fantastic from our initial conversation, to our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception! We didn't have a wedding planner, but everything at our ceremony ran seamlessly. DJ Jim is the BEST!
DJ Jim made our special day perfect. He worked with my music-obsesssed requests and fit in all that I asked for. Cocktail hour to reception, he even did the "shout-outs" I asked for to dedicate songs to friends and family. And he made my custom music fit in, too. He even spent an hour with me on the phone the week before the wedding to make sure everything was communicated correctly. Amazing wedding DJ!
DJ Charlie truly went above and beyond our expectations. He was incredibly professional, SO much fun, and quite honestly, our favorite vendor!
Leading up to the wedding, Music By Design made things so easy. The portal made us feel super organized, and it was really easy to input all of our information/requests. A few days before the event, Charlie gave us a call and made us feel at ease about everything. From the moment he arrived at the venue, he did an awesome job setting things up, making sure my husband and I knew what we were doing/where to go, and chatting with other members of the bridal party to ensure they felt comfortable about their speeches.
The minute our first dances were over, Charlie had EVERYONE up on the dance floor and there was NOT ONE lull! He played exactly what we were hoping to hear, the right amount of old/new, and we just couldn't be happier. At one point, we had to call an ambulance (someone was dancing a little too hard and unfortunately broke his ankle). Charlie handled this incredibly well and kept the party going. The dancing continued even as paramedics made their way into the room. Now that's a good DJ. (We all applauded our poor friend as he was carried out and he's ok BTW.)
All this is just to say thank you for being such an amazing company to work with and for making our wedding a night to remember! We have gotten so many compliments on the DJ, the music, and the overall party atmosphere. We will be recommending you guys to all of our friends :)

Great music and event coordination!
We booked Music By Design for our September Wedding at Seven Bridges Golf Club in Woodridge, IL. We chose Music by Design based on customer reviews as well as pricing, and we were not disappointed. The process from signing the contract to day-of was simple and efficient. The online portal was easy to use to select music, as well as provide vital information to the DJ (e.g. schedule of events, bridal party names, etc.). Jim was our DJ and he was very kind, friendly, organized, and did a great job keeping the party going all night. Jim made sure we kept to our schedule and helped when any small issue arose. Music By Design has the DJ contact you the week of your wedding to verify the schedule and details. Jim made sure he had the pronunciations of our bridal party correct and reviewed music selections with us to ensure our day went as planned. Additionally, Jim was responsive to texts later in the week when I remembered there were some details I had forgotten to mention.
Overall, the music was fantastic (we never left the dance floor!), the set-up was perfect for our uniquely structured venue (music and speeches could be heard during the dinner service which was in a separate room than the dance floor), and we appreciated Jim helping make sure our day occurred as planned. We definitely recommend Music by Design. Thank you, Jim!!

We could not have been happier with our experience with Music by Design and specifically our DJ, Jim.
The way their website is setup to allow you to provide details as you plan them was incredibly helpful. The way you select your preference was very easy and ensured that the songs we did not want to hear weren't played and the ones we love weren't forgotten.
I had a call with Jim the week of our wedding to finalize our details and felt very comfortable after our call that the music would turn out great.
There was a slight hiccup with the audio for the toasts, the venue had very high ceilings and there was some echoing, but Jim was able to adjust and get everything cleared up. The dancing portion of the night was outstanding, and we have had multiple guests comment to us "the music was so YOU!".
We also ordered up-lighting through MBD and it looked fantastic.
The pricing was very reasonable for everything that was included, we had a wonderful evening, and would highly recommend Jim and Music by Design to anyone looking for a DJ!

Great DJ Service
Music by Design is a great option for a DJ service for your wedding! They were very responsive and my DJ, Charlie, made the night go so smoothly! He worked will with my wedding coordinator to make sure we were at the right place at the right time. They have a software that has you lay out the night in detail, which was honestly just helpful for planning as well. They are of course flexible since they understand how weddings are. Dillon was amazing!
Our dance floor was full the entire night! When you hire Music by Design you do your planning online up to a month before your wedding day on an online database. Then a week or two before your wedding you are assigned a DJ. This originally made us nervous but turned out great the day of. We were able to make last minute changes to our music and requests through the company and they let Dillon know. He provided the music for the ceremony and reception. I would 100% recommend Music by Design to anyone for an event.

Perfect from Ceremony through Reception!
We initially considered Music by Design because we were at another wedding they DJ'ed and the dance floor was full the entire night. In our own experience, working with Music by Design was seamless from the initial conference call to get to know their services through the wedding day. Their online system of building the "playlists" for the ceremony and key reception songs was very easy and made the day of so simple. We were assigned DJ Charlie for our wedding in October 2019. He called us a couple of days before to learn more about the vision we had for the wedding, verify pronunciations, etc. On the day of, the music was perfect for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. He clearly is a wedding expert and worked well with our vendors to make sure the night stayed on track. Plus, most importantly - he somehow played all music that I love and kept people on the dance floor and entertained all night!

Music by Design is very organized and had the largest selection of music. We decided to choose all the dinner music but gave our DJ, Pete, freedom to choose dance music. Pete did a phenomenal job with music selection as the dance floor was always crowded. He worked well with all of us and our photographer. If we needed an announcement made, he was on it immediately. My husband and I were able to put in specific music requests and write out a timeline; we had access to this website for several months. The week before the wedding we spoke with our DJ, Jim, who was amazing and communicated clearly. People were dancing the entire night- no lulls at all. He read the room and kept everyone happy. My husband and I were deciding between Music By Design and one other DJ/Entertainment Company. We actually chose Music By Design only because the prices were a bit cheaper than the other company. We had our webinar and all of our questions were answered. We were really skeptical because we weren't going to have any contact with our DJ until the week before the wedding and we had a lot of stuff to go over with him. We filled out all the online forms which were super easy and convenient to use, and anytime I had any questions, I was able to call the office and they were very helpful. Our wedding was a half American half Bulgarian wedding, so we had some non-traditional requests and needs that needed to be met so my husband was getting very worried closer to the wedding since we hadn't spoken with the DJ. Then, Jim gave us a call. Seriously he was so nice and accommodating that after talking to him about everything my husband was so excited to meet him. He went over every detail from our timeline to our bridal party's names and specific songs that we wanted played and when. He was also familiar with incorporating different culture's music into an evening with more traditional wedding songs which was a big plus. During the wedding he kept in constant contact with us and anyone that was involved with speeches or events. Everything ran so smoothly because of him and we are so impressed. Time ran a little longer at one point because we were trying to talk to all of our guests at each table and he was very patient. He is very professional and talented and his love for music and what he does is really apparent.

Music By Design did an incredible job at my wedding. Good coordination and good music are really key to a successful event, in my opinion, and our DJ, David, made sure we had both. He made sure everyone was dancing and enjoying themselves, he was professional and amiable, and, overall, he did a wonderful job.
Before booking Music by Design, I had a lot of worries about the music at my wedding; after having a call with David, everything was easy; David was reliable throughout every stage of planning.
Big thanks to David also for helping my dad and I put together snippets of a few songs so that we could have a choreographed dance that was a BLAST and big thanks also for working with my cousin to set her up as a singer following cocktail hour. Both of those pieces of our day were so special to us.

Great Value DJ
Dillon (or Dylan?- sorry we never caught the spelling!!) was SO great for our wedding. He constantly communicated with us, when someone made a ridiculous request, he put it through either me or my husband. He made great recommendations about our timeline and was incredibly professional.
We LOVE the totally online system that Music by Design has. Would 100% recommend this company for Chicagoland weddings!

Kept us dancing all night long
They were nice and friendly! Our DJ was Andrew and he kept everyone dance on the dance floor all night long! My family has a silly dance that they do to one song and of course he play it!

Totally Rockin'
We had Jim as our DJ from MBD. He was great. Very energetic and responsive to our requests. I would definitely recommend this company. The ability to use an online platform for planning and requesting was EXACTLY what we were looking for!

The best dance party!
Our DJ Carl provided the perfect atmosphere for each part of our night. He was proactive about talking with all the important people of the evening to make sure everyone knew what to do! He made sure everyone had a great time!

Definitely the best!
Music by Design was great to work with! I am a project manager and when it came to my wedding day I was concerned about keeping everything organized and moving forward, but I didn’t need to worry about that! David was unbelievable and even was telling me not to worry as I was trying to make sure he met up with our officiant on the day of! He had it all under control! The backend system that Music by Design has for selecting music, outlining the order of events, and names of bridal party is genius! Our ceremony sound system was great, our reception music kept everyone on the dance floor, and David kept dances, dinner and all other events on time! Would recommend David and Music by Design to anyone!

Exceptional DJ. THE BEST!
Hands down the best music and professionalism I could have asked for. I had Carl as our DJ for our wedding and he came incredibly prepared. Our conversation on the phone regarding timeline and song choices was wonderful. Only Music by Design allows you to select songs online through an interactive program. I was beyond impressed. I had met with 5 DJ's before choosing Music by Design and I am so lucky that I did. Price is incredibly reasonable and Carl had set up for the perfect ambiance for our special day. BIG, HUGE thank you!

Amazing Music All Night!
We did our DJ and PhotoBooth both by design! Let me tell you they both were amazing! Jim was our DJ and he was fantastic! We gave him free range of our music. All we said was we want everyone to be on the dance floor all night and he delivered. We received nothing but compliments from everyone at the wedding about our music. Will recommend to everyone!

Amazing Company!!!
Music By Design was a dream to work with. They were extremely accommodating with all our name in lights design requests (and there were probably a million). The DJ did an amazing job even when he was thrown a few curve balls from the hall when setting up. My bridal party and I joke that we wish we had a complete playlist from the night to play for the future.

Awesome Music!!
I was nervous when it was time to hire a DJ because I really feel like the music can make or break a reception and how great of a time guests are having. After having a consultation with Music By Design, I knew they were the company for me. They make it a point to not be cheesy or cliche, and they have an awesome online portal where you can pick your music, see suggested playlists, and so much more. Our DJ Pete was so awesome and everyone loved him :) He was great at reading through my song requests to get a feel for what kind of music we like, and he was able to read the crowd well to keep them on the dance floor all night! He was so nice and gave the wedding the right feel. I'm so glad we went with Music By Design, it was definitely the right choice!!

The first thing that sold us on this dj was the online planning tools. It was so easy to create our playlists and find music this way.
Our wedding was on 9/28/18 with Pete. He was so friendly and professional. He kept our dance floor packed all night! We got so many compliments from guests about the dj, everyone loved him.
So many other places wanted to charge us their normal rate plus an additional cost for the ceremony. But music by design was only one flat fee. They also accepted payment through their online portal or chase quick pay, so paying them was extremely convenient.

My wedding was on 9/22/18. We had Jim as our DJ from music by design. He was amazing. I keep on getting that this was the best wedding from my friends and family. At times everyone was on the dance floor, and that was amazing. Jim listened to us about the music that we wanted and took that and made it even better. I totally recommend Jim for your wedding or event!!!!! Also, we had the photo booth from them, and the photo booth person brought all of the props and everyone had a blast. At the end of the night, we had a photo book of everyone's pictures and messages!! Plus we get all of the electronic versions too!!!! I just can't thank Jim and music by design enough!!!!!!! They made my wedding perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were very happy with our choice to use Music by Design. They have a great system where you can upload all of the songs you want to play - whether it be for the ceremony, cake cutting, or for the dance floor. We met our DJ, Dave, via conference call and were unsure how it would turn out. Dave was absolutely amazing! He did a great job of keeping everyone on schedule, announced the speeches and events well (without being too in-your-face), and he played so many of the songs we requested. He used his expertise to play fast/slow songs at the right times to get everyone on the dance floor. We had multiple people comment on how great the DJ was at our wedding. Definitely recommend using Dave for your event!!

We were blown away by the high caliber of work that Music By Design brought to our wedding. Our event was held outdoors, and the sound system was crystal clear throughout the ceremony and reception. Our DJ, Jim, was professional, thoughtful, and friendly, and he was able to easily collaborate with our other vendors. He did an excellent job incorporating our (very specific) requests, guest requests, and his own song choices. We received many compliments from the guests on the music, our favorite being that the music really reflected our personalities and relationship. We would highly recommend Music By Design!

We had Jim as our DJ and he did a great job. We first chose him because we got to meet him right from the start and we could tell that he is genuinely a good guy. He was a true professional. Heading up to the wedding he was willing to meet up with me to go over everything on a couple of occasions. Not only that, but I also had an elaborate groomsmen dance for my now wife. He became familiar with the script and executed everything on queue. As for all the music in general, all of our guests had a great time. They sang along to all of the music during dinner and danced the night away till the end. Jim I owe you for helping us with a successful wedding. Highly recommended.

We had Dave for our wedding on 8.18.18 and he was great! He was very professional and got everyone where they needed to be when they needed to be there. He did awesome with introductions and playing music! He always came and found me and my husband and asked us is everything is okay and sounding good and also came and found me to ask about the toss bouquet since I originally wasn’t going to do it. We received so many compliments! Such a great price, too! Highly recommend booking Music by Design! Thanks Dave!

I used Music By Design for my wedding. All correspondences with them were professional, pleasant and easy. Their portal offered exactly what I was looking for in a DJ, the ability to choose not only what songs I wanted, but most importantly the songs I absolutely did not want played.
Our DJ was Carl. He was great, he was able to figure out what we wanted for our wedding and then choose other music that went along with the same theme. Many of our guests told us how much they loved the music.

My wife and I could not be happier with our decision to use MBD for our wedding. We chose them because they played my sister's wedding back in 2011 and I wanted a company I could trust. Well, they exceeded all our expectations. Andrew was fun,energetic,engaging, and professional. I have been to a lot of weddings and I can proudly say I have never seen as many people on the dance floor during the last song than at our wedding. Our whole experience with Music by Design was outstanding. All our questions/emails were responded to quickly and the value of the services we got were outstanding. Pete was our DJ and he was phenomenal. He kept the party going even when few people were on the dance floor towards the end of the night and really kept in the vibe we were trying to go for. He included a lot of the music we requested in the online form and was able to create an environment our guests felt comfortable in to let loose on the dance floor. He did a great job working with us to keep everything organized day of and was able to help me execute a surprise for my parents during our ceremony that really meant a lot to our family. We had so many people compliment our DJ service after the wedding. Highly recommend Music by Design and Pete for helping us create the day of our dreams!
