Elyse Sent on 11/03/2024The combination of art, teamwork, flexibility, and architecture made for a truly excellent Chicago Wedding experience for all!
Once you book this venue, you already have the default choice of catering through Marisol, which is an automatic "win". This means Catering and Venue teams work together regularly and smoothly. The food is excellent and the caterers work hard to meet your individual/custom needs.
I wanted an outdoor wedding experience and was able to achieve this in their terrace garden; the back-up "weather plan" indoors might be another bride's first choice and would have been amazing as well. It's unique to find this in the city. Close to Michigan Avenue, our hotel block was within walking distance and our guests used the weekend to plan Chicago tourist experiences as well.
The dancing and music was inside, allowing guests to view galleries, mingle, and dance inside, or continue conversation outside on a beautiful Chicago summer evening without loud music interference.
All of our vendors had positive experiences working with MCA venue & catering coordinators. At the MCA, there are so many options that allow you to customize your special day and we were so grateful that our dream day became a spectacular reality and provide an exceptional Chicago Wedding experience for our guests.
We loved this museum for our wedding day and it is special that we can visit it throughout the year to continue to make happy memories. -

An Exceptional Venue & Team for an Unforgettable Wedding!
As a wedding planner, I've worked at numerous venues, but my experience with the team at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago was simply outstanding! From start to finish, the venue manager was incredibly professional, attentive, and a true pleasure to collaborate with.
The museum itself is a breathtaking backdrop for any wedding, with its stunning architecture and art-filled spaces. My clients were blown away by how beautifully the venue fit their modern, elegant vision. The flexibility of the space allowed us to create a seamless flow from the ceremony to cocktail hour and reception, all within the museum's unique and inspiring environment.
The venue team went above and beyond to accommodate every detail, ensuring the wedding day was flawless. They were responsive to any requests, kept the schedule running smoothly, and were always one step ahead, ready to tackle any last-minute changes with ease. Their coordination and communication made my job easier and ensured my clients had a stress-free and magical day.
I can't recommend the Museum of Contemporary Art and their incredible staff enough for couples looking to create a truly unique and memorable wedding experience. It's always a joy to work with a venue that shares the same commitment to excellence that I strive to provide for my clients.

Mary Sent on 11/28/2017Mary Klein, Director of Catering, was fantastic to work with when planning our wedding reception. She was professional, organized, responsive and her flexibility enabled us to completely personalize all of the details for our party. We really appreciated all of her efforts to ensure that our vision became a reality. The MCA was an amazing venue with beautiful outdoor and indoor cocktail space, open galleries and an outstanding caterer.

Michelle Sent on 10/04/2018We thought it'd be fun to get married at an art museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art was even better than we could have hoped! The art made a great backdrop for the photos. The space has great flow, guests could check out the art galleries, play lawn games on the terrace, or chill in the atrium. We worked with Mary and Katie at the MCA and they were the best!! They were so accommodating and knew their stuff, they were prepared with everything we could think of and a lot we didn't even think of. The food was amazing, all our guests were impressed and the staff is so professional and go above and beyond (they even fixed our cake! some of the piped frosting fell off before it was delivered). We couldn't be happier to have our special day at the MCA!

Anisa Sent on 11/20/2017My husband and I did our wedding reception over the summer at the MCA. We worked mostly with Mary, but also Kristi as well. Our guests said that they loved the venue, and the outdoor/indoor space was absolutely perfect for a summer night in the city. Location couldn’t have been better, and the staff was professional and very informative. Mary is a sweetheart, and my husband and I have nothing but fond memories of the MCA and our special celebration!

The MCA Events Team is the Best
You are in really great hands with Mark and Mary. MCA Catering and events are really the loveliest people out there. From adding my grandmother to our tasting last minute, to being flexible and creative about the bar options (had to have tequila for the Texans), to Mark literally saving our Musicians from a thunderstorm by running back and forth in a freak summer storm with and without an umbrella, I'd trust this crew with my big day any day. The food was extraordinary, the venue one of a kind, and the staff took such great care of our every need leading up to and on our Wedding day.
My one big disappointment was with the museum staff, we were passed around to different folks, routinely kept waiting and on the big day were treated less than kindly by the museum representative. Without the snafus from the museum staff this would be a 12 out of 10 experience. -

I chose to work with MCA because the staff were excellent. Being at the museum also allowed my guests some extra time to visit the gallery; it’s a nice addition especially for ppl who didn’t want to dance.
We were however surprised by some important detail changes the day before our wedding; for example we were hoping to be able to see the lake from the ceremony space, but at the wedding day the view was blocked off. The gallery was doing a new installation so there is a stained spot not painted over right in the middle, behind where our officiant was standing. When requested the museum didn’t want to bother painting over a spot that’s 1’ x 1’ with white paint I am sure is in abundance in the museum :-/
Overall it was a nice experience with everyone being on top of their tasks.
There are some stuff that comes out due to it being a non profit; we get it. I hope the open bar tab goes to buy some white paint so next time someone can bother to just touch up the little spot.
There was a classroom (with lots of cameras) that we could use as a private space between our event schedule; there is not bridal room to speak of; it’s a museum so it’s not part of their business. -
