I read several reviews and felt like this business would be a good one for me to choose for my wedding invitations. I was also trying to stay as "local" as I could and this business was the closest to my home.
The owner, Barbara, was very pleasant to work with. My fiance and I went to her shop together and we discussed with her the type of invitation we were interested in. We looked through about 7 or 8 large books of different styles and we found several that we liked, slowly whittling our choices down until we decided that we had found the right one. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and never felt rushed or hurried. Barbara was always ready to answer our questions and explain the differences in papers and types of printing, but never tried to influence our decisions.
When our proofs came in, we found some spacing errors and they had to be fixed, but that didn't take very long. We picked up our invitations a few days ago and they are exactly what we wanted.
I'm really glad we chose More Than Words. It was so much more personal than just ordering online and hoping that the quality was good. I would definitely recommend this business!

We ordered my daughter's invitations from Barbara at More than Words and also used her services to print additional inserts for the invitations. She also addressed, stuffed the envelopes and mailed them for us. Barbara was very helpful when we had questions about proper etiquette when it came to wedding invitations. She certainly knows her stuff.

I cannot not say enough wonderful things about Barbara at More than Words. Our wedding invitations, menus, place cards, etc. looked AMAZING! We did an October "Wine Themed" wedding - our invitations were so different and gorgeous. They were EXACLTY what we wanted. I brought in a sample in another theme and color and Barbara was so excited to come up with ideas and fonts and pictures to use. It was extremely wonderful service and very difficult to choose just one out of all of the samples she provided. I want to have another event soon so that she can help us again! A REAL PLEASURE to work with More than Words!

I love this stationier. They were able to point me in the direction of the invitation I wanted in the price that I wanted. They turned out beautiful. They have a wonderful selection of letterpress invitations available at an affordable price. In addition, they have a section of bridesmaid, flower girl, groomsmen, and parent of the bride and groom thank you cards. They didn't mind me coming in to look at invitations for hours without making a decision.

Nicole and Barb wre such a pleasure to work with!! We used them to create not only our invitations, but place cards, programs and menu cards as well and every piece came out perfectly. They give you a ton of ideas and sugestions on what will work best for your overall vision and stay with your budget. I planned my wedding from out of town so most of the work was done with email and over the phone and they were always very responsive and easy to work with.

Very easy to work with. They worked with us to help to pick which invitations we wanted and for how we wanted it presented. We went with letterpress invitations and a band to get all the pieces to stay together and they made it look fantastic. Barb and Nicole were easy to get in touch with and worked with us to try to get something that looked great and reflected the feel we wanted to portray as close to our budget as possible. If I ever need invites again I will go there!

Barb was great to work with for creating our wedding invitations. It was fun to sit down and create exactly what we wanted with her. She was very receptive to what we had in mind but also able to add her own expertise. She has been in the business for a long time and really knows her stuff and was able to guide us along. The only small thing was that after putting in the order it was just radio silence and I had to reach out to ask if the proofs were ready to review, and then again when they would finally be ready to pick up, etc instead of them contacting me. In the end the invitations came out beautiful, and they also stuffed the envelopes and stamped the rsvp cards for us. Overall I would recommend, their work is beautiful and it is definitely worth the little extra money to have unique custom created invitations.

Barb did our wedding invitations for my wedding on June 27th, 2015. The invitations turned out beautifully! When our invitations first arrived, my mom and I went in to check them out. I noticed that the invitations, which were supposed to be done in thermography, appeared to have been done in digital print instead. Barb immediately called the company to inquire about the mistake. She learned from the company that the invitations had been done in thermography, but due to the quality of the paper, it didn't stick as well as it could/should. Barb argued that we had ordered the invitations exactly as they had been presented in the display binder from the company and got the company to agree to re-print the invitations on better quality paper for us at no additional cost. Even though at times she wasn't super responsive to emails, I was so grateful for how she went to bat for us when the invitations didn't come out as well as they should have. The end product was absolutely beautiful.

My mom and I are both (perhaps obviously) new to the wedding planning/wedding invitation process and we were pretty clueless about the etiquette behind how to word and address invitations, response cards, and information cards. Barb is VERY knowledgeable and passionate about this topic, which I appreciated. Her opinion can be a little strong at times, but at the end of the day I was happy to have her advise me on what to do. Had I ordered invitations online like I was originally planning to do, I would have had no idea of the etiquette behind invitations.

We also had Barb print our information cards for us (to cut down costs) and she printed the addresses on our envelopes as well. She did a lovely job, and the info cards matched the invitation perfectly. She even had her staff stuff and mail our invitations for us at no extra cost (except for postage of course)! I am very pleased with the work she did for us.

If you want something unique for your wedding invitations, More than Words in Mt. Lebanon is the place to go. I went there having no clue what I wanted for my invitations, and I left with something unique that captured the themes that I chose for my wedding. On top of amazing invitations, More than Words provided creative table numbers, programs, bar napkins, menus for the bar and table seating, and inserts for my welcome baskets. They were flexible with my busy work schedule and were willing to go the extra mile to make everything customized just the way I wanted it.

Nicole was the rep that helped us choose the invites. She understood what we were looking for and helped us modify an existing invite to suit our style without increasing the price. She also did all the layouts so we wouldn't have to pay extra. Helped us stay within our budget and get great invites!

They also imprinted our enveloped for a low fee, which was wonderful!

I wish there was a category for end product, because that would get 5 stars. I will say that my wedding invitations turned out beautifully. The end product is really, really gorgeous.

But I can't even stand to look at them. And every time I drive by Carnegie I get a wash of anxiety and anger at how much Barb manipulated and bullied me.

I ended up spending a little more than twice what I told her I wanted to spend. And I had no idea what the cost was going to be until all the invites were already in and assembled, in a box right in front of me, because she would not answer my direct questions about how much each element cost. She dodged and hedged, telling me a range of possible prices or just laughing and saying "not much!" As if worrying about cost made me cheap or stupid. She even ordered the wrong thing (more expensive) for one enclosure, and when I pointed this out she said she'd just charge me for what I had asked for. But I have no idea what she charged me for because I never once saw an itemized breakdown of the cost, despite asking for one repeatedly.

I didn't feel like I could refuse the invites after I'd met with her and picked the design because then she didn't contact me for two full weeks while they were being designed. She blamed problems on interns and by then we were past the date she had set as our goal to get them in the mail--so I couldn't go elsewhere because I didn't have time to start the whole process over.

So they were twice as expensive, late, and beautiful. I was taken advantage of and pushed around. I'm also very aware of the way she responds to negative reviews here (refuses to take responsibility for anything anyone criticizes) but I think it's worth it to share my experience with other brides.

Unless you have an unlimited budget and don't mind being heavily influenced, don't go to More Than Words for invitations.

Barbara was laughably bad to work with for our Save the Dates. We went elsewhere for invitations. She claimed to have recently produced a Save the Date I saw in a Martha Stewart magazine from 6 years ago. She treated her employee like a lunch fetching minion in front of me and my mother which was very off putting. Not much was show to us, I came up with the design so in the end I should have just gone to Kinkos. Can't be doing that great as a shop, clearly can't afford the rent, moved twice in the past few years now in Carnegie. That should say it all...

    More Than Words's reply:

We've been in business for more than twenty years and have been fortunate to work with some wonderful clients. Our moves had nothing to do with the success of our store but instead fulfilled our desire to be more accessible and to be part of a unique and growing community. We offer quite a variety of save the dates, both custom and from albums; several have been shown in national publications. All are designed and completed with input from our clients to make sure they are as individual as our clients. I'm not sure why you would take issue with our staff which works together very tightly (including ordering lunch and dinner for one another).

I wouldn't recommend this vendor to anyone!! She did my wedding invitations, unfortunately, and, they went out late, she charged me more than what she originally quoted me, did not communicate with me properly, AND wouldnt take responsibility for her actions, then blamed me for everything!!!! Barbs customer service is 100% awful, I truly regret giving her a dime of my money. She's extremely unprofessional and doesn't stay true to her word! Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. Barb is a nightmare to work with and i wouldn't wish that aggravation on anyone.

    More Than Words's reply:

We strive to provide our clients with a pleasant experience and products they love, but it has to be said that a bride MUST take responsibility for her invitations and the job at hand. If a client asks us to delay mailing for two weeks to accommodate her move into a new apartment, then we will do just that. If she is asked to provide her guest list in a timely manner, then she needs to do so. Custom design pricing is always subject to materials, design, quantity, timelines, etc., all of which is clearly noted on the sales order. If you are consistently late in fulfilling yourresponsibilities (paying deposits, providing event information, providing guest lists, etc), then should the invitations be finished on time (as was the case here), they still cannot be mailed without addresses. It is not incumbent upon us to track down information after we have already requested it several times. Responsibility truly is a two-way street.
