  Beautiful Setting for a Special Ceremony

  We are so happy we got the honor of getting married in such a sacred and beautiful national shire at the Basilica in San Juan. Unlike the other outdated reviews, we had the most amazing experience with all the people working at the Mission to coordinate the wedding ceremonies. Their office staff was very responsive and accommodating to any of our wants and needs through the entire wedding process. All the musicians were so talented and made the ceremony that much more special. Our day of coordinator was fantastic!   We are so happy we got the honor of getting married in such a sacred and beautiful national shire at the Basilica in San Juan. Unlike the other outdated reviews, we had the most amazing experience with all the people working at the Mission to coordinate the wedding ceremonies. Their office staff was very responsive and accommodating to any of our wants and needs through the entire wedding process. All the musicians were so talented and made the ceremony that much more special. Our day of coordinator was fantastic! She gave us flexibility to make the Catholic ceremony (specifically the procession) just as we had envisioned and helped us do a bubble procession outside on the steps while the bells were ringing!! It was just magical!!! We really wanted our wedding ceremony to be a spiritual and sacred experience for us and all our guests and the Mission did just that. Totally worth the little bit of extra cost and effort to have such a memorable experience we will cherish throughout our life together.

  What a gorgeous, spiritual place for a wedding.
  
  If you are a parishioner and/or are Catholic and live within its boundaries, this is the place to get married.
  
  It's located next to the old mission, and is done in the old Mission style but was built in the last few decades.
  
  Gorgeous muralwork inside, lofty, just incredible. Not like the 60s and 70s churches so common in OC.
  
  We brought our own co-officiants (my childhood priest, who's now head pastor at a neighboring church, and a family friend who's a Lutheran pastor), which resulted in some drama, but it's fun to laugh at now.

  The weekend-long Engaged Encounter was so valuable, as was the one-on-one counseling.
  
  For music, I worked with the music coordinator and had a four-piece string ensemble (complete with virtuoso cellist who could perform my Bach cello processional) and a four-part choir ensemble who could perform some of my favorite Palestrina and Victoria Renaissance vocal pieces.
  
  It was so, so divine.

  I grew up as a member of the Mission Parish and it meant the world to me to have my wedding there. It's a hugely spiritual and beautiful place. It's one of the few Vatican I churches that are around in Orange County. (This means the pews are arranged in three sections, forming the shape of the cross, vs. Vatican II churches where the pews are arranged in arches, centered on the altar.) The dealings I had during my planning with the church were pleasant, but sometimes it took me a few phone calls to get an answer. As with any Catholic church, there are a few restrictions on what you can and can't do and wear. As long as you're respectful and modest, you'll be fine. My only complaint is that the wedding coordinators stayed in the back of the aisle when I was walking down, so they were in all the pictures of my father and I walking down the aisle.

  We got married this weekend and it was beautiful! Father Tim was very accommodating and he was very supportive before and during the ceremony. This would have been the perfect experience if it hasn't been for Lisa, the wedding coordinator for te church. The day of the rehearsal she didn't allow us to have any input what so ever. She didn't have any flexibility in terms of what order the court would come in, she didn't allow anyone to say anything...it was a nightmare. My mom had smoked a cigarette outside and when she came in she was told to please not smoke before the ceremony because Lisa didn't like the smell. My wife couln't wear part of the... Read more

The court wasn't allowed to talk because it was disrespectful. In the end everything was disrespectful, and no flexibility what so ever. She treated everyone like little children and once in a while she would preach about how hard her life has been and how she would pray for us so out life's were not as bad as hers. Not the right time to talk about her problems and then rush through the practice and treat everyone like ignorant people. Would recommend asking for another coordinator or point of contact at the church.

  Beautiful place to get married! I loved it! The coordinator was HORRIBLE. She treated me, my family and my vendors like second class citizens and made my experience less than favorable. That is NOT how it should be on your wedding day. I recommend the venue as long as it does not come with the same coordinator.
