I was absolutely SET on having cassata cake at my wedding, but once I tried the tirimisu Italian torte, it was over! OMG it was soo delicious!! Not only was my cake beautiful, but it was so incredibly good! My husband doesn't really like sweets, and he LOVED our cake!

most family owns bakeries are closed over holidays the owner of millitellos was willing to come in even though the business was closed in to make my daughter's wedding cake thank you very much everything was delicious and beautiful

Courteous and professional. AMAZING wedding cake. One of two locations in Michigan that specialize in European tortes. Everyone at our reception raved about it. Will definitely continue to patronize this bakery in the future.

AMAZING and DELICIOUS cake! My husband and I are not big cake people, in fact, he never eats cake. However, the cakes at Militelo's would make anyone a cake lover! The cake was so moist and delicious!

Beautiful wedding cake made for us! Absolutely delicious! We had the chocolate raspberry mousse filling!! Wonderful!

Gasper made such a beautiful cake for me. Absolutely breath taking. Still getting comments on how beautiful the cake was. They are extremely friendly inside of the bakery and Gasper is so welcoming. He will do whatever you want. We chose to do the European Tort- raspberry. Unbelievable taste, so light and flavorfull. Could not have been more perfect! Go get a sample...you will know what I am talking about! A MUST HAVE!!!

Our wedding cake was from Militelos and it was delicious!! We really liked working with Gasper. You can tell he is passionate about cake!! He does try to push the European torte cake, which is delicious. However, we decided that our families would like a regular cake with buttercream frosting better and he had no problem making this for us. When we got to the hall, we were blown away with how beautiful the cake was displayed! I had provided some fabric, votives and fall leaves and Gasper made them look beautiful around the cake. We are very satisfied with the cake and the customer service we received from this bakery.

I do not blog, or write reviews often, perhaps three in the last 10 years. However, I am compelled to write this review.

I have known Gasper and Nancy Militello for over 16 years now and in that time I have never met another baker who has the love, passion and desire for perfection that Gasper possess. He is truly the Michelangelo of wedding cakes.

I recall when he first wanted to become the paramount wedding cake baker in Michigan, and the endless hours he spent to perfect the finest possible wedding cakes. His Old World work ethic has made him the best in Michigan, if not the U.S.

There are few people who in life you will meet that take their skill to an art, and Gasper in one of those people. Some say Gasper is inflexible. Yes he is inflexible, when it comes to making sure your have the greatest possible wedding cake experience that you and your guests will speak of for years to come, but would you want anything less?

Not to use Militello's Bakery for your wedding or anniversary cake is just simply the greatest single mistake one could make for such an important life event.

I hope you will at least stop by Militello's Bakery and taste the pride he puts into every cake he makes, you will not be disappointed and thankful you did.

Delicious and beautiful! They worked within our budget to provide a display cake for us to cut and it was simply gorgeous!

Everyone loved the cake! We went with their pineapple mandarin orange torte and it was AMAZING! Well worth your time to go in and taste their products. We are already looking forward to our free one year anniversary cake. :)

The cake was beautiful and tasted fabulous. I remember being pleasantly surprised how great it tasted when I had my first bite!

They spent quite a bit of time with me helping me decide what I wanted and did not get offended when I wanted something simple and not to fancy. They did take their work very seriously and wanted to make sure everything looked beautiful for me. (I thought they were a little overly concerned about the display when I was not.)

We opted for the Mandarin Pineapple Orange torte type cake and it was phenomenal. The cake decorations (scrolling etc) were beautiful and Gasper is the nicest man to work with. We could not have dreamed of a more tasty and beautiful cake.

We had a very simple cake (white cake with white frosting), but don't let that fool you - the taste was out of this world. Gasper even added a small amount of "cafe" coloring so our icing wasn't stark white. The result was simple, elegant, and classy. We took some left over cake home with us and ate every last bit. Our guests have gone on and on about how good the cake was. Only drawback is they don't offer a complimentary anniversary cake one-year later.

Thanks for a great experience - my husband and I will be back!

When my husband and I went in to get an idea of what we wanted for our wedding cake, we hit a bit of a snag. We planned our wedding from out of state, so when we came in to town for our appointment with Gasper we were unaware that a tornado had come through the area the night before. Even though Militelo's didn't have any power in their shop, they didn't cancel our appointment. Gasper had to go to a friend's bakery to get some cakes underway for his other weekend weddings, and left us to browse catalogs while he ran to the other bakery to get things started over there. When we finally sat down, we were able to taste some samples and make a decision on what flavor and style cake we wanted. We were able to get just what we envisioned for a fraction of the cost of other bakeries.

The quality was absolutely fabulous! The only thing was that my cake was not an outdoor summer time kind of cake... it sweltered, but the conditions were a bit abnormal. The level of service was topped by none, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Not to mention it was absolutely delicious!!!

Cake was delicious and looked beautiful. Seemed there was only one cake style you could really do there, so if you wanted to have your own say in how it looked, that was not the place. Regardless, I was thrilled with how beautiful it turned out.

I enjoyed working with Gasper, and our cake looked fantastic. We tasted tons of cakes, and Militello's was the first that really tasted like dessert-- it is delicious. I think that they have their system down to a T, so they're pretty reliable.

I was discouraged from using more than 1 cake flavor and felt I had to push to get what I wanted. The employees in the bakery didn't seem to get along particularly well with the boss. The place looks a little dated, but ultimately the cakes they put out are excellent.

Amazing cake. Wish they would have put the flowers on the cake the people at the hall did it all wrong. But we had so many compliments.

The main issue, which seems to be the main issue for most people, was that he wasn't really willing to do what I wanted to do. I gave him 2 or 3 ideas for what I wanted the cake to look like, all pretty simple (no crazy intricate details) and he came up with different reasons for why he couldn't do them. Then he called me a week before & tried to tell me that what I wanted him to do with the cake wasn't going to look good (even though it looked great in all the pictures i've seen of it done that way) I ended up with a very basic looking cake. It tasted excellent and looked nice, but it just wasn't what I wanted.

They specialize in European Torte cakes. Not your typical bland wedding cake. Wonderful flavors, light and rich at the same time. We had them tint the base of the cake, and it turned out brown not campaign. Be careful of that.

Militello's did a wonderful job with the wedding cake. They are a little inflexible but the cake was awesome! Very moist and not heavy!

There is no doubt our cake was delicious - we had a pineapple orange mandarin torte cake that was soooo delicious and moist! As soon as we tasted it we had to have it. It looked great, too. The great thing about this baker is that he uses whip cream for frosting, which he can make look like fondant, but it tastes much better than fondant.
I wasn't quite as thrilled about their customer service, though. They are very, very particular about a lot of things and a lot of things they require of you. I also heard some of my other vendors had a hard time dealing with him, and he also left business cards on the cake table. I think that's completely unprofessional and totally tacky, but my venue took them off before guests arrived.
So, if you want a fantastic cake, this is a great place to get it from. My concerns were certainly not enough to ruin the experience, and I would still recommend them to others.

Over priced for what you get!

Four layers of styrofoam (fake) cake with a six inch real cake on top along with 1-1/2 sheet cakes for cutting is not worth $800. I cancelled my order and forfeited the $200 deposit when the owner said the bride and groom had to cut the top of the cake. I got him to agree to insert a slice in the bottom styrofoam piece but when he called and asked for more money because he got my order confused with someone else's I lost all confidence.

The cake was delicious, but having a wedding cake is way more than that. The cake didn't look like anything we discussed with Jasper. I wanted silver snowflakes all over the cake and there was none to be found. It was very plain with no snowflakes. Also, the top of the cake was supposed to be raised and flowers in between. It was not raised and there were no flowers. I was very disappointed and I will never recommend this baker to anyone.

We ordered a cake for our wedding from this bakery. While the cake was good the service was not. The owner was not truthful with us on the amount of cake he quoted us for. At the last minute when we called to double check the order he had us down for less servings than what we had requested and said that we have to come in and pay for the additional servings, but he had charged us for the amount we had originally ordered. Not only had we went over the amount we needed twice in person, we also called once before we met with him. So there was no way that it should have been wrong... It's a shame and not worth the stress and hassle. If we did not call prior to the wedding not all of the guests would have received a piece of cake for dessert.
