We picked our photographer before any other vendor. We originally came to Maui to look at venues and also have an engagement photo shoot. Photography was the most important thing to us and we wanted to make sure our day was captured by the best photographer. Mike exceeded our expectations and delivered the most beautiful images of both our engagement session and of our wedding day.We picked our photographer before any other vendor. Mike Sidney was the first choice we made regarding our Maui destination wedding, even before we hired our wedding planners. While searching for wedding planners and locations for our wedding, I kept being drawn to certain photos. These photos shared a unique characteristic that were not only beautiful to the eye, but which evoked wonder and emotions. The use of color, lighting, weather and its elements, how he captured people as well as the beautiful landscape, whether indoor or outdoor amazed me. I learned through these photograph’s watermarks, that the artist behind them was Mike Sidney. As we kept searching for our wedding planner, I would look at photos and would quickly be able to pick out his work and say to my wife, “classic Mike Sidney.” It is hard to express in words exactly what makes his work so great, and is best appreciated by viewing it. Fortunately, once we hired our wedding planners, Mike Sidney was available on our date and we immediately booked him.
In addition to his unique style and vision, his photographs tell a complete story. I received several hundred pictures from Mike and our biggest issue right now is choosing 40 photos for an album; they are ALL good.
Not only does he have mastery of the technical and artistic skill of photography, but he is one of the nicest people out there. He has a great personality; he is very hard-working yet easy-going and personable, a great communicator, very patient, accommodating, and flexible. Our families are pretty…assertive? Maybe a little loud?, however Mike was able to be assertive and direct people when he needed to without anyone really noticing that he had just done so. He always looked like he was having a good time. Our guests kept commenting on how hard he was working and all the running around he was doing to get the shots he envisioned.
If Mike is available for your big day, BOOK HIM. Mike and his team were very pleasant to work with. Mike was very open to our visions and politely gave his suggestions on how to improve them. It also helped that he is super nice and enthusiastic. We eloped to Maui in June! Our families weren't with us, so pictures were a MUST! Mike Sidney is the best! I am not photogenic and was worried how our photos would turn out. Normally, when I have professional pictures taken, I find one or two I like. However, this was a totally different experience! Upon Mike's arrival, I knew we had made a great choice! Mike worked with me to get the best photo. He was amazing! We have nearly 200 photos and I LOVE THEM ALL! Mike captured our special day! He didn't miss a moment! We have the entire wedding on film! We received the pictures back quickly and he offers many extra's as a reasonable price! I highly recommend Mike Sidney Photography!We eloped to Maui in June! Mike was so fantastic. We only signed up for his basic package but he really gave us value for money. He is a quality photographer that makes you feel very comfortable. His easy going nature was so important and made us feel at ease.
He is an absolute expert and his attention to detail is impeccable. The best photographer on Maui for sure. In my job I have worked with many world renowned photographers for fashion photoshoots and I always look for the elusive combination of technical ability combined with a personality that has the ability to bring whom they are photographing alive. Mike's technical ability is incredible and he certainly has the personality to make you feel very comfortable.Mike was so fantastic. We did a lot of research before choosing Mike Sidney. We already knew his images were stunning from his blog, but after meeting him it was clear why. He has the ability to connect with people and knows how to engage them. He is a complete professional and knows how to take charge while being efficient with time. We had a large group for Maui and lets face it, our guests were distracted by the lure of the bar. He was able to gather everyone, direct them, and take some breathtaking shots that were organized without looking stiff or posed. When our wedding timeline went astray, he jumped to action and made suggestions to get back on track. He took control expertly, but he wasn't imposing in the slightest. Walking down the aisle, I nearly forgot he was there. I had given Mike an entire Pinterest board of "must-have shots", which definitely would have been overbearing to most...then on top of that, I threw in the wrench that I wanted him to be as creative and try new things! How impossible! We received our images a few nights ago (less than 3 weeks after the wedding...I've heard many brides have to wait months!) I cried 7 times. My husband and I were amazed. Our images are stunning. The ones that Mike re-created from Pinterest were even better, and there were others that were so different to any we had ever seen before...everything very true to his "Mike Sidney" style. Probably the part that impressed us most, however, was his photojournalistic ability. He captures those split second moments that are so important. My mom gets this fleeting look in her eye right before she is about to cry...Mike got the shot. It's amazing. I would also like to mention Nicole, Mike's office manager. She organizes all the details and she was a dream to work with. The wedding day goes by far too fast - but my husband and I now have these incredible images to preserve our memories! Couldn't have been happier!

I could not possibly say enough great things about Mike and his team. Planning a wedding from a distance can be stressful because you have to trust the people you are hiring 100% without even meeting them. Working with Mike and his office immediately put me at ease. His office manager Nicole was always a pleasure to work with and had the answers to my questions. This office is VERY well organized. The timeline of pictures ran exactly to schedule. Mike was great! He gets really excited when he sees a good shot or angle, and you know you are going to have awesome pictures.
When looking at Mike's website, I was just crossing my fingers that my pictures came out as good as those displayed online. I have to tell you, they came out even better! I have shown several friends and family the pictures and they are blown away by the quality! He has a real gift for playing with light, shadows, and the natural beauty of Maui. You won't be disappointed!I could not possibly say enough great things about Mike and his team. Mike is positively amazing! We just got the comps back for our wedding pictures and they are stunning. Somehow, he even managed to get my parents (who are divorced) together with me for a picture without any stress at all! I would recommend Mike to anyone who is getting married on Maui! Mike just did our wedding and he was great. We won't get to see the pics for another couple of weeks but we're sure they'll be great. You can tell Mike loves what he does and is passionate about the photos he takes. He was very friendly throughout the wedding and made everyone happy to pose for photos with him. Throughout the wedding he was very communicative and let us know what was coming up, that we needed to finish dinner so he could get the sunset shots, that he was going to be doing this or doing that. At the end of our agreed upon time he let us know he was going to head out - we asked him to stay a little longer as we wanted more pics of our performers and he had no problem with that. He never got frustrated and was very patient. Overall a great experience.

He was so easy to work with, and was quick to adjust his shooting methods with the rain—in other words he made the most of the time we hid under the tent and worked quickly when we were in the rain. His assistant Nicole had the list of must-takes I sent to her and made sure everyone knew who was next so that things moved quickly; she was amazingly organized throughout the whole planning process. My only complaint is that we didn't get more time with him! His package included a free engagement session which we weren't able to take advantage of. With the hectic schedule, the B&G time was a little bit more limited. But I hope that our paths will cross again where we can take advantage of his work another time.He was very easy to work with. In picking our wedding vendors, I was especially picky about a photographer. I'm an amateur photographer and have filmed many weddings, so I had an especially high bar for photography. Mike exceeded all of our expectations and then some. He has a great eye for a photo, takes many creative approaches, is awesome at catching candid moments and was incredible in dealing with our very large wedding party. I've worked with many photographers who just seem pushy, but Mike is gifted at making sure everyone is in the right place and looking in the right direction by applying a calm disposition with a good sense of humor. Many of our guests and members of our wedding party commented on how great he was to work with on our wedding day. The deliverables also lived up to expectation. Mike does a very tasteful job at editing and was able to provide us with pictures we will treasure for a lifetime. Also note that Mike "gets it" for the younger generation. He'll provide you with a link to all of the pictures on his website, a flash drive that contains all of your edited images, a photo montage set to music, and a release form that allows you to use and print the pictures in whatever way you see fit; you're in no way obligated to go through him for printing, photo books, etc. We highly recommend Mike for your Hawaiian wedding!In picking our wedding vendors, I was especially picky about a photographer. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I had my wedding in Maui and he was great at the photo shoot but the rest was down hill. He oversold and under delivered. I was in tears by the end because of the poor quality of the editing and delay in receipt. They were really a disappointment, especially considering you have such high expectations looking at their website and working with them beforehand. So sad...HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.
