    Sweet Treats and Awesome Designs

    We loved working with Tanya! From meeting her at the wedding expo and setting up a private tasting, to seeing her finished creations at our reception, we couldn't be happier with choosing Midtown Cakes. All of her cakes are delicious! It was hard to choose. And her creativity and flexibility with design is phenomenal. Her cakes were flawless and looked brilliant on the table and in the photos. Our guests adored the cakes, and our gluten intolerant friends were delighted with the gluten-free groom's cake.

    I haven't had my wedding cake yet, but I have met Tanya at two different wedding expos and heard great things. Cake tasting went great! Giving her the deposit this Friday and will definitely review after the wedding.

    Midtown did our wedding cake, cupcakes and grooms cake. Everything we ordered was so fresh and so yummy. Everyone raved about how all the different flavors of cupcakes were amazing. They do a wonderful job creating beautiful cakes!

    We cannot stop praising this wonderful bakery! Our cake and cupcakes were not only gorgeous, but hands down the tastiest we have ever eaten. The professionals at Midtown Cakes were a pleasure to work with.

    Tanya and the staff at Midtown Cakes were absolutely amazing. We had to change our bakers about a month before the wedding due to storage issues and Tanya was super prompt in responding and flexible in working with us. Through phone and email (as we live in Wisconsin), we were able to set up the design and general flavors for the wedding cake and groom's cake. Then, the store was super helpful in scheduling a tasting when we only had one day in town to do a lot of final wedding things. They provided amazing and quite large samples for us based on the flavors we discussed. All of their cakes are incredible and we just wanted more! We finalized most of the design details and the flavors in person. However, I had seen the incredible work that Midtown Cakes has done and asked to give them a little creative room in the final product. We couldn't be happier with doing that as the cakes turned out better than we could have ever imagined. The wedding cake was gorgeous and they worked in the flowers we brought at the last minute like they were planned from the beginning. The groom's cake was an amazing book that I think everyone had to do a double take to ensure that it was actually a cake!!

    Our cakes were absolutely beautiful and delicious for our wedding!! The colors used for the cakes looked phenomenal and they even added additional features to make the cake really pop. When I needed to increase the amount of my cake, it was easily handled and done perfectly. Their cakes taste amazing and I will definitely be stopping by just to get a cupcake from time to time and even for birthdays in the future!

    Midtown Cakes is the best cake I have ever tasted! The cake not only taste wonderful but they look beautiful as well! If I had to do my wedding over I would still chose Midtown Cakes to design and bake my wedding cake!

    We ordered our wedding cake from here and it was amazing!! The cake turned out beautiful and we got to customize it specifically towards our wedding. The cake tasting went wonderful and they have a large selection of cake flavors to select from -- AND they're all fantastic. We had an amazing experience and it was a pleasure to work with them. We never had an issue with response time or contacting anyone. Definitely would recommend and worth a 10 star rating!

    Midtown Cakes did an amazing job on our Wedding cake/cupcakes! Everything turned out exactly as I wanted and the cake tasted amazing. I especially cannot stop thinking about their red velvet cake :) They were great to work with, and I highly recommend!

    Midtown Cakes makes the best cake! It is so moist and absolutely delicious. There are a lot of flavor options, and we were able to have different tiers of our wedding cake be different flavor options. I added some things at the last minute (literally days before the wedding) and they were flexible about making the change. Our cake was beautiful! We also ordered a cookie cake and cookies for the groom's cake, and they were delicious as well! I definitely recommend Midtown Cakes to anyone in near Columbus, Georgia.

    Midtown Cakes did an excellent job on my wedding day. I must have changed the design of my cake at least 2 or 3 times and sent several sketches of what I wanted... but Tanya was amazing to work with! She always listened and tried to give me EXACTLY want I want and kept working with me until I was statisfied. The sheet cakes were amazing and everyone at our wedding kept raving about how good the cakes were! I would definitely recommend Tanya and Midtown Cakes again!

    Oh my goodness... This cake is absurdly yummy. I'm amazed by how Tanya can make cake that delicious in such large quantities. From the moment we went to the tasting, we were sold. She created a beautiful four tier cake exactly the way we wanted. And for the groom's cake she made these adorable, one inch cheese cake pops with different toppings and a little display for them all. People thought they were so much fun!

    First off, this cake was incredibly delicious! We did half the tiers in red velvet and half vanilla, and it was absolutely fantastic!! And no extra charge for alternating flavors.
    They also rent cake stands, which we took advantage of.

    The only downside of this vendor is that they were a little difficult to get in touch with whenever I tried calling.
    And there was a mix up when they mailed me my contract and didn't fill in the cost of the cake and wanted me to sign it and mail it back in. I went down to the office and they happily fixed the mistake but it was a little annoying that I had to go out of my way for that.

    I am excited that this vendor offers a fresh cake on your first anniversary, so you don't have to save the top tier and eat a spongy gross piece of cake that's been sitting in your freezer for a year. I think that's brilliant and a very unique touch for a cake vendor!

    Wished Things were Different

    I found Midtown Cakes after looking at a few different bakers in the Columbus area. We went to a Tuxedo shop to meet the owner because she didn’t have her own location for tasting. She brought cake flavors in plastic sauce cups for us to try. It wasn’t the cake tasting experience we envisioned, but we gave Midtown Cakes a try because their samples tasted good and they have been known to do wedding cakes at our venue. The owner/baker was very responsive and professional. She was flexible when we changed our wedding dates a couple of times due to the pandemic. As our wedding was approaching, I wanted to change a few things about the cake. I was nervous about altering it because I wasn’t sure if the baker could understand my new vision. I emailed her multiple times with inspiration photos to ensure she knew what I wanted and I emphasized on having “muted” colors on my wedding cake. I thought she understood because she assured me, but I was wrong. On my wedding day, the cake was not what I wanted. The colors were too strong and bright. I reached out to the owner afterwards and she told me that the color had darken due to being outdoors in the sun. However, she knew that my wedding was held outdoors for as long as I have booked her. As an experienced baker, she should have known that it was possible that it would have darken, and she could have recommended me other designs or made the cake even lighter to prepare for the colors to deepen in the sun. She didn’t offer to rectify the issue and took pride in her cake. She sent me a photo to prove that the colors were muted but I have a hard time believing it considering everyone else’s photos showed darker/brighter colors than her photo. Overall, I was not pleased with our cake because of the appearance. It’s the biggest wedding regret I have changing the design and hoping that the baker could do what I wanted. For future brides who are considering Midtown, please stay within the limits of the cakes they have shown to have done in the past. Caution with new designs because you may not get what you want and may be constantly reminded by that mistake in your wedding memories and photos.

    The only thing that I asked was that my cake have NO fondant on it... 2 weeks before the wedding we found out that it was our only choice, when there was never any problems mentioned for buttercream previously. Deposit was paid almost a year in advance and my cake looked NOTHING like what was pictured. Unprofessional and hard to get in touch with.
