There are very few people you meet in life who, after just one conversation, feel like someone you’ve known forever. Michael Peter is one of them. From our very first meeting, he showed a genuine interest in getting to know us, not just asking surface-level questions like “how did you meet,” but really diving into our story, our values, and what brought us together. He also shared his own experiences and thoughtful advice, which made the conversation feel natural and meaningful.
We laughed, joked, and connected the entire time, and by the end of that first conversation, we knew immediately we wanted him as our officiant. He made it a priority to ensure he wouldn’t feel like a stranger standing beside us at the altar and he truly delivered on that.
When we met up with him again in Charleston during our tasting trip, it felt like catching up with a friend. He checked every box for us: incorporating religion in a way that felt right, bringing a warm and personable presence, and creating a beautifully written ceremony script that we were able to customize to reflect what mattered most to us. I could not recommend Michael Peter enough as an officiant and we genuinely will consider him a forever friend. -

We just got married in October and Michael was our officiant. We didn't have a close friend or family member who felt comfortable officiating our wedding so we weren't really sure what to do. Our wedding planner recommended Michael and we are so happy we chose him! I was a little disappointed that we didn't have a family member or friend to officiate and was worried having someone we didn't know would feel a little strange but that was not the case! Having the initial phone call with Michael really put us at ease and made it an easy decision. We are not local to Charleston so we were able to meet in person during one of our wedding planning visits and had a counseling session and it was a really great opportunity to get to know Michael better and feel even more comfortable. He did a really wonderful job officiating our wedding, the ceremony was the perfect amount of time and level of emotion. I truly could not recommend him enough! -

My wife is from Colombia, and when some of her family traveled to Charleston for our wedding, it was incredibly important to us that both her Spanish-speaking family and my English-speaking family felt equally included in our special day. We were honestly stressed trying to find an officiant who could offer a truly bilingual ceremony that honored both cultures.
All of that stress disappeared the moment we found Michael.

The PERFECT Officiant Who Goes Above & Beyond
Michael Peter was the perfect officiant for our intimate, non-traditional wedding. We didn't get married in the church. However, since we come from Christian and Catholic backgrounds, it was important to us that God played a meaningful role in our ceremony.
Michael took the time to really understand us and created a ceremony that felt so personal, warm, and meaningful. It was everything we hoped for — heartfelt, relaxed, and truly “us.” He also made the process incredibly easy and took care of everything from start to finish.

I cannot recommend Michael Peter enough! He was recommended to us through our wedding planner, MOD Events, and we are so glad we chose him!
When we met at our marital counseling session with him, we knew he was a cool dude, and he just get's it. He is someone we would see ourselves keeping in touch with into the future, as you could tell he really cares about you and your relationship. He is the definition of a kind, souther hospitable person who loves Jesus.
He is also grounded in faith, and has such amazing advice on how to live your life faithfully in your marriage. This was such an important asset my husband and I looked for in our officiant.
Michael was very responsive and eager to get to know my husband and I. We could not be more thankful we chose him! -

I can't say enough good things about Michael! Me and my now husband got married 2 weeks ago but we had the pleasure of meeting Michael over the phone back in January. It didn't take us long to realize he had to officiate our special day. It was evident right off the bat how much he cares about others and he became a quick friend. He prides himself on knowing the couples he is going to marry, something that was very important to me. Michael took time out of his busy schedule to meet me and my husband in person on two different occasions. He had so much advice to offer and I know we will lean on him for years to come! Our wedding ceremony was everything we imagined and more. It was heartfelt, humorous (he reached out to our parents for personal stories to share during the ceremony which lightened the mood and helped us to relax), concise, and meaningful. We had numerous guests come up to us at the reception saying how much they enjoyed the ceremony and we have Michael to thank for that! I couldn't recommend Michael more and promise if you choose him to officiate your wedding, you will not be disappointed. Please let me tell you about Michael Peter. We met Michael as you meet most people, through someone you love. There was an instant connection between us, like we had been friends before. After a brief meeting we knew that he was going to be the man for us, becoming family by nightfall. Michael led us in all of the correct and comfortable directions for our special day, from providing counseling beforehand, making the licensing process a breeze, to recommending places for our ceremony and helping us find where to celebrate afterwards. Mr. Peter took care of us in every way possible, and even drew our names in the sand and took pictures for us on the beach! By the way, Folly Beach Pier is a great spot for random support and extra photographers. If you’re considering Michael, consider no more. He is a one off a kind man and you will not be disappointed have him officiate for you. -

Micheal was absolutely amazing! He really was so kind and welcoming from our first call to our ceremony. He was extremely professional and always responded back in a timely manner, but also extremely funny and light hearted. My guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about his ceremony. Michael was absolutely amazing to work with! You will be able to tell from the first phone call/conversation with him that he truly cares about his couples. He was fantastic on the day of the wedding. The way he ran the ceremony was perfect and smooth! His marital counseling is a huge bonus. Lastly, I had family with a native language that isn't English, and Michael rehearsed a verse in my native language to help them feel included. My understanding is that he often offers this couples, and it was just the cherry on top to a perfect ceremony that helped all family members feel included! I would 11/10 recommend Michael! -

He met my husband and I more than a month before the ceremony. He had wonderfully provided us with sample scripts for the ceremony if we wanted to choose. My husband and I decided to let Michael choose his own script with the request of it being simple and easy to follow. He delivered a Beautiful speech and presented us as husband and wife. The paperwork was completed the day before so no hassle was needed between the ceremony and reception.

The BEST around!
Michael was so awesome! He responded super quick every time we contacted him. He allowed us to personalize our ceremony as much as we wanted. He was punctual at the ceremony, and so kind. We came from out of town, and were unable to meet him in person before the ceremony, but we were able to FaceTime him to meet the day before! It was an absolute joy to meet him and work with him! -

It was an absolute pleasure working with Michael. He stepped in for us at the last minute (2 weeks before the wedding!!) when our friend fell ill. We knew instantly after meeting him he was genuinely the perfect person to officiate our ceremony. It felt like a gift or “God Shot” of divine timing as he was previously unavailable but another couple had to reschedule for our wedding date making him available. And what a gift! From the first moment we spoke with Michael Peter, we knew he was the right man to be our wedding officiant. His personal care and concern for us and our ceremony turned out to be A+ wonderful. I won’t elaborate on our 30-hour planes, trains, and automobiles experience getting to Charleston (from CA), except to say that we felt loved because Michael was checking on our progress all the way…making sure we were safe. He honestly cared and was willing to change his schedule if necessary.
Being a wedding officiant is not just a job for Michael, it’s a love that he puts his heart and soul into. We were absolutely amazed that EVEN AFTER the wedding he cared about us and helped us work through a couple of glitches. To sum it up, Michael did a beautiful wedding ceremony for us even in the pouring rain (under the White Point Gardens gazebo). What a blessed event! We highly recommend Michael to anyone.

Michael just officiated our wedding in March 2024 in Kiawah Island, SC. He was the easiest vendor we worked with. So easy and seamless to communicate with, flexible, responsive, positive, friendly and veery knowledgeable about the entire process. He made our lives so easy and we felt so comfortable and confident going into our wedding day knowing that he was our officiant! Our pre-marital session with Michael was also great! He is the kindest most understanding (especially when I had to make SEVERAL changes to my wedding date and changing times of the ceremony) and funny person I could have ever asked for to perform my husbands and I ceremony. His couple Counceling session went well beyond my expectations and truly asked the hard questions, without getting too explicit, and felt like it brought not just us as a couple together but a better understanding of who Mr. Mike is. He frequently checked in with us and made sure that our vows were exactly what we wanted. Just absolutely amazing. Would have anyone else guide us on this next chapter in our life’s! -

SO many compliments on our ceremony!
Our ceremony with Michael was the BEST ceremony we have ever witnessed, and we aren’t the only ones that feel this way! During cocktail hour we had multiple guests compliment our officiant and ask “where did you find him?!” Truly, I cannot recommend Michael enough! His ceremony was professional, honest, heart warming, and the perfect length. Every word was captivating and meaningful. Many times the ceremony is the least memorable part of the wedding, but over a month later we are still getting compliments from our friends and family about how beautiful and perfect the ceremony was! If I could recommend only one vendor from our wedding it would be him! -

The most amazing wedding day!
Michael was soo kind to my husband and I on our wedding day! He was patient even though my fiancé then was late to rehearsal! He really cares about the couples he meets and takes care of it for you as much as possible with suggested scripts. We noticed how much he cared when we did our premarital session! Michael Peters did a wonderful job officiating our wedding! From the very beginning he was so kind and helpful and we loved the marriage counseling session. He offered great and positive words to carry with us in our marriage. Michael was very responsive and did a fantastic job and at making sure the ceremony script was what we wanted. At the rehearsal be made sure we were all prepared so everything could go seamlessly on the wedding day. He has you sign the marriage certificate and takes care of the rest! Michael was great to work with. He goes above and beyond as an officiant. He made time to meet in person a few months before the wedding to get to know us. When we met, Michael provided us with guidance on what to expect on the wedding day and his own marriage advice which we found very thoughtful. My husband and I got married on NYE in Charleston, we have been several times but we are not from there. Wedding Wire of course helps you narrow it down the search and we are so thankful we did because we found Michael.
Michael was extremely helpful, very responsive, and overall an amazing human being. Even if you never met him in person it’s like you’ve known him for years. We are so happy that Michael was able to help us get married. Even our guests complimented us on him and how nice of a guy he is and how good he is at being an officiant. He will help you with the ceremony process as well, I had no idea about the scripts and prayers etc. he was very easy to work with in that regard.
Hands down use Michael if you’re in the area! -
