Words cannot express how happy we are to have had Michael officiate our wedding. Originally we were planning on going through a local church to officiate our wedding. It wasn't until a month before the wedding day that we learned the church was unable to provide an officiant. We scrambled to message officiants online to find someone last minute.
We were absolutely blessed to have stumbled across Michael, who responded immediately to us. He worked hard to get to know us, and to guide us through the ceremony process. He gave us insight into a variety of different wedding traditions, and the ceremony he ended up writing for us could not have been better.
He is one of the nicest people I have met. He interacted with both our families, and definitely has a lot of experience performing wedding ceremonies.
Not once did he ever say "No, I cannot do that for you". He made every effort to make our wedding the most perfect for us. We cannot thank him enough for working so hard last minute to accommodate us.

Wonderful and sweet ceremony!
We chose Rev. Michael for a few different reasons but most importantly he was so kind and intentional during our phone conversations and meetings! The ceremony was perfect for me and my husband and it was so beautiful. He made sure it was about us and incorporated things that we wanted! We loved that he gave us ideas and examples of things too. We had a inter faith wedding, I’m Christian and my husband is Muslim. Mr. Barrette was a blessing, he made everything so easy and was very organized, personable, and attentive. He was able to recite scripture and readings from the Bible and the Quran to incorporate both of our faiths. Mr. Barrett went above and beyond for us. He came to our rehearsal and had dinner with our family and had great conversation and laughs. He fit right in as if we had known him for years. Another amazing thing that he did for us was officiating or wedding in English and French. My husbands family is from Mauritania, they don’t speak English and they were not able to travel to the U.S. so we did a live stream of our wedding so they could be apart of our special day. We are so thankful that we had Mr. Barrette to officiate our wedding.

Beautiful Personalized Ceremony
Mike officiated our small, intimate wedding this past weekend, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We met him just a couple weeks before, and he guided us through the whole process and listened as we described how we envisioned our ceremony. We didn't want to incorporate any religious or stuffy elements of a traditional wedding, and he provided various reading and ceremony samples to give us a few ideas of how we wanted to structure the ceremony. We ended up going putting together a completely custom ceremony without any religious prayers, and we added a poem that resonated with our relationship more intimately. He did a wonderful job keeping it lighthearted and engaging, which paired well with how my now husband and I were both chuckling through our tears of joy and excitement. Thank you, Mike!

Mike was the best officiant we could have asked for. From the start he was like family. We weren't sure exactly what we wanted for the ceremony, so he sent us plenty of options and customized it just the way we wanted. Mike was an officiant for our elopement ceremony at Chase Court on April 10th, 2021. Working with Mike was really easy. Michael was phenomenal! Like many others this year, we had to reimagine our wedding due to COVID. We ended up postponing our big celebration to next August but decided to still get married this year with our family and wedding party. We hired Michael just over a month before our wedding. October 2020 Micro Wedding
Michael came to us by chance. We had gotten the go-ahead from our venue that we would still be able to have our micro wedding about a month prior so we had to find an ordainer quick. He worked with our venue previously and came to us that way. Michael worked quickly to put together an incredibly personal and intimate wedding ceremony that we felt had our special touches and welcomed our guests' involvement. He is dedicated to make sure your vision comes to life. We were in crunch time and he got us our ceremony outline to us within 48 hours of meeting. We met over Zoom twice in the three weeks leading up to our wedding to hash out the details and Michael incorporated everything we desired including vows in a different language. Incredible Experience with an Incredible Officiant
Mike officiated our wedding two weeks ago and we could not be happier with how everything went! We started planning with him for a large wedding months ago, and he was so helpful. He has tons of experience, so he had many different ceremony outlines and numerous readings, both religious and non-religious. He is as active in the planning process as you want him to be, and he is willing to give any prayers or sayings in any languages. He’s well-versed in many wedding rituals; he took the time during the ceremony to explain the reasonings behind our unity candle and glass-smashing. When we had to switch to a small backyard wedding, he made the transition as easy as possible. Everyone who attended the ceremony or watched the live-stream cannot stop raving about how great and well-done it was! He is always fun to speak with, and he’s just a great man in general. We feel so lucky to have found Michael! We first met with him in Baltimore and talked for over an hour about our relationship, his background and how he became a minister. We knew right away he was the perfect person to officiate our wedding. Michael is genuine, enthusiastic, and one of the kindest people we have ever met.
Michael provided us with plenty of material to help create the ceremony we were looking for and he did an excellent job performing the ceremony on our wedding day. We had to change our original wedding date due to COVID, he was flexible and understanding about rescheduling. He was easy to communicate with throughout the process, organized, showed up everywhere on time - truly didn’t miss a beat! He took care of submitting our marriage license after the wedding which was so helpful.

Saved Our Day! (11/2/2019)
We hired Minister Barrett about a month before our wedding, due to a mishap with the original minister. By the time, we met him down the aisle, I felt as though I had known him for years. Minister Barrett was absolutely AMAZING! He was very professional and personable. He was ready to give advice and listen to exactly what we wanted and needed without being pushy or judgmental. I would certainly recommend him to my friends and family for future nuptials!

A Truly Beautiful Ceremony, Thank You Mike!
It was a pleasure to have Mike officiate our wedding October 5, 2019. We felt love, peace and kindness from Mike with his presence alone even before he spoke. Our guests told us they didn't feel like "guests" but rather a special part of the wedding ceremony because Mike involved them in our vows. Mike was also more than willing to come to our venue rehersal and helped lead the session. I highly recommend Mike for your wedding, he really loves what he does. Thank you Mike, the ceremony was beautiful, better than what I dreamed of all these years!!

Best officiant!
We absolutely loved working with Mr. Barrett! From the very beginning, he was very responsive and you could immediately tell he has a great passion for his work! He was readily available to answer any questions and had numerous ceremonies to choose from and customize to suit our personal style and beliefs. He performed our ceremony beautifully and kept it short and sweet, just how we wanted! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an officiant for their wedding!

Finding the right officiant is like finding the right venue or the right flowers. You’ll know when you’ve found the perfect fit. Michael’s kind nature and generous spirit were so apparent when we first met him. Throughout the process, we felt like we were talking to a trusted friend. And, that friend did everything that he could to make sure that our ceremony was one that we would remember fondly for the rest of our days.

French and English Wedding
Michael made our wedding ours. Half of our wedding party spoke french and the other half english. He was able to blend both languages into the perfect ceremony and made all the guest feel comfortable. Michael blended well with our families and it was like having an old friend at the wedding. I highly recommend him!

For those reading this, please and I say this with all honestly, please book Michael as your officiant. He was so pleasant to work with and made us feel so comfortable about our ceremony and vows. We had so much fun at our rehersal dinner and everyone got along with him. He even matched his suit with our wedding colors perfectly :)

Michael was a fantastic officiant for our wedding! He did a great job at incorporating all of the different traditions between the Jewish-Catholic ceremonies that we wanted to have during our wedding while also keeping it within the time that we requested. Mike married my husband & I going on five years ago this July. He was absolutley amazing and our ceremony still resonates in my mind. We were from two different cultural backgrounds and he was able to work both into the ceremony. Mike is amazing with words and helped us write vows that truly were for us and our "hands prayer" was my favorite part. I felt like he was a part of our family from our first meeting. He is an amazing person and it was truly a blessing to have him coordinate the most precious moment of our two lives joining to one. On top of it all he helped incorporate a very emotional and private loss into the ceremony just for us without taking any attention from our ceremony and no one noticed except us. It was a beautiful moment just for my husband and I and Mike.

Michael is the BEST! From the initial planning meeting, Michael had so many great ideas for our ceremony. We weren't really sure exactly how we wanted things to flow but Michael had so many ideas and options we could put together to create exactly what we wanted. Any questions we had, were answered quickly. On the actual wedding weekend, Michael helped the rehearsal go seamlessly and the wedding ceremony itself couldn't have been better. It was a great experience to have Michael Lance Barrett as my wedding officiant. My husband and I met with him months in advance to get a feel for him and he is so welcoming and kind. Michael was wonderful to work with. He was very communicative every step of the way and he really took a vested interest in getting to know me and my wife. He is really passionate about what he does and has lots of experience with different types of weddings. He gave us great advice and offered up many sample readings and wedding scripts as suggestions. He is familiar with multiple prayers, readings, and different rituals at weddings. Ultimately, he let us decide how we'd like our ceremony to look and we valued his input. He was very helpful at our rehearsal and helped everyone get ready. The day of the wedding, Michael arrived to the venue early and did a wonderful job with our ceremony. Mike's warm personality is infectious from the start, his genuine love and appreciation of what he does cannot be hidden. He guided us through the process and helped us create a ceremony that reflected our personalities, Always quick to respond to questions or adjustments we needed, Mike put us both at ease and performed a beautiful ceremony. He especially did a great job with a special tradition we wanted.
As a bonus, he joined us for our rehearsal dinner, and his pleasant conversation and personality helped ease the anxiety our parents had about meeting each other for the first time. After that dinner, we considered him less our officiant, and more our friend.
Side note - it's a week later, and my mom is still talking about how much she liked Mike and how he performed our ceremony. And she's hard to please!

Perfect if you are looking for a personal, spiritual ceremony and don't want to jump through all the hopes with traditional religious ceremonies. Most couples have to do counseling classes, or fill out surveys and questionnaires or have to meet strict requirements from their clergy in order for them to get married. I just didn't have time for this and I felt like I grew up in my church but they weren't very accommodating when I wanted to get married there. Plus if your partner isn't a member of your church, it seemed to be a problem. Mike worked with both of us, no questions asked and offered suggestions and gave us recommendations based on our backgrounds. My husband did not go to church and really had no religious background and Mike was very accepting and accommodating. He offered us sample ceremonies and sent us examples of readings to do during the ceremony, since we both had no idea what direction to go in. There were options from all religions, works of literature, and secular choices. He took the time to meet with us in person, explain his background, and asked us questions before we chose him as our officiant so he could get a good feel of what ceremony would fit us best. We also me with him a few days before the wedding so we could go over everything and calm our nerves and he had created a ceremony just for us! My husband is not the warm and fuzzy type but he really opened up to Michael, and Michael didn't push or force anything on him. Michael and I had a couple of things in common in our personal lives so we really clicked from the beginning. He also came and had dinner with us for the rehearsal, which really was more of dinner for out-of-town guests, since my venue didn't allow rehearsals. He fit right in with my family (which is hard to do!). For our ceremony, we each chose a reading to read out loud and Michael did the Hand Blessing. A lot of my guests thought he was family! He was a wonderful choice for us overall! Highly recommend

Michael does this because he loves seeing couples in love. It was clear to us that he genuinely cared about our beliefs and wishes. Not once did he attempted to sway our opinion. In fact, he had many great lay outs and options for us to start with. We then were able to completely structure the rest of the ceremony. At the rehearsal, Michael really took charge and made sure I was happy. When the big day came, he spoke beautifully. Our day wedding would not have been the same without him.

I don't know where to begin. My wife and I planned and financed our wedding. To go from not having a clue on how to do things and to end up having an almost perfect wedding was all because of Mike. He had everything laid out for the ceremony. All we had to do was choose which way we wanted it. And I'm sure if we had our own specific way, he would've catered to us. I say almost perfect because we started a half hour late and I apologized to Mike and he responded "it's ok, I'm going to greet the guest to let the know." He was so patient, flexible, and professional. It would not have went as well as it did if it weren't for him. Thank you for everything.

Everyone at the reception kept talking about how great the ceremony was. Our ceremony was interfaith Jewish and Christian and Michael handled that beautifully. We are truly grateful to Michael and the wonderful job he did at the wedding!

Michael Barrett officiated our August 16th wedding and it was amazing. He was so patient during our initial meeting, he was very easy to talk to and very accommodating. He helped us through the entire process and helped write our ceremony which turned out beautifully. I received many compliments on how beautiful and meaningful it was even though is was also short and sweet! He made any changes we suggested and helped with any aspect we were unsure of. He coordinated the rehearsal and the entire wedding party felt much more at ease after his directions. The ceremony went smoothly and was just perfect. I would definitely recommend Michael Barrett to future brides!

Mike was amazing to work with. We met up with him almost a year before our wedding. We explained to him that my husband was not religious at all and that I am a Christian. He was able to create a ceremony that was beautiful and not offensive to either of us.
He offered us readings and poems that would work for us. Mike also assisted with our wedding program and mailed off our marriage certificate to the courthouse.
He was so friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend him.

Mike was really great to work with! We met several time before the wedding and emailed back and forth over the months. He's very open and comes off as pleasant and inviting. He took the time to get to know my fiancé and I and gave me any and all ideas that I could take from to help me create my ceremony exactly as I wanted it. It couldn't have been a more perfect day and I would recommend Mike to anyone that asks. When he arrived at the wedding (early), he took the time to touch base with the guitarist, groomsmen, my dad and my bridesmaids and I to make sure everyone knew their parts. Perfect!

It was a pleasure having Mike Barrett as officiant of my son's wedding. He truly worked to make the ceremony what the bride and groom wanted it to be, and was most flexible in accommodating religious,spiritual, and cultural preference in the ceremony. He is also readily available to provide assistance in reading selections, order of ceremony, certain rituals that may be desired (the unity candle) in the planning process. He worked to get to know my son and his bride as well as both families, BEFORE the ceremony, and he let that shine through during the ceremony.

Mike was GREAT! He was the first officiant we met with and upon other meetings we quickly realized he's the best there is. My husband and I are not religious, but my husband is traditional, so we wanted a ceremony that was as close to traditional as it could be, without the religious aspect. Mike delivered and some. He sent us drafts of ceremonies he had performed and allowed us to edit them (though we could have picked straight from what he sent us without having to do anything and he was fine with that). We completely rewrote everything and he was nothing but encouraging the whole time. We wanted a SHORT ceremony, so in lieu of a reader, we asked him to read a poem for us. He did so beautifully and with emotion. Mike, though religious, had no problem with our lack thereof, and treated us with respect even though we had different views on faith (which is how it should be, in my opinion).
He genuinely has passion for what he does and it shows. I really can not say enough good things about him, he's a wonderful person!

From the moment we met him at a coffee shop, we knew that we wanted him to perform our wedding ceremony. Michael is very personable. I can not say enough great things about Mike! Our ceremony was perfect and he was a huge part of that. Not only is Mike professional and knowledgeable, but he is also extremely flexible and was willing to work with us up till the last minute to make our ceremony exactly how we wanted. We were able to meet with Mike before we decided he would be our officiant, but we knew immediately after meeting him that we didn't want anyone else. He is so friendly and personable and definitely put us at ease. We were pretty much able to design our ceremony from scratch and he brought in a lot of great ideas to make it very memorable for my husband and me, as well as all our attendees. He was very responsive and never left us hanging with any questions that we had, and he helped us in getting our wedding license in line. Mike is someone that we will continue to keep in contact with as he was a huge part of our wedding day, and he really takes a lot of pride in that. I could not have imagined anyone else marrying us!

I found Michael after I had already started working with another officiant. The service I was receiving from the other service was absolutely terrible! They couldn't even get our names right...on multiple occasions! Michael was the complete opposite! From the moment we started working with him, he made us feel comfortable and at home. We met with him in Baltimore one Saturday and had a lovely lunch to get to know each other. He really cares about the people he's sharing this amazing moment with. He wants to make sure he understands what you want. He was always open to suggestions and he even threw in little cultural touches we wanted to add to the ceremony. He is such a warm person and we were so lucky to find him! If you are looking for a tailored ceremony with warmth, love, and aspects that define you as a couple, go with Michael. He will take care of you!

My husband and I really enjoyed working with Michael Barrett for our wedding on 10/4/15. He is such a great person to get to know and he took the time to sit down with us to learn what we wanted for our ceremony. He was sensitive to our different religions and was able to provide a beautiful ceremony and meaningful readings that had everyone in tears of joy. I will cherish our ceremony forever. Mike was very easy to work with and flexible in performing our ceremony however we wished. We met with him twice before the wedding to get his feedback on the secular wedding ceremony that we wrote. My only complaint is that I asked that I not be "given away" as a bride (it was specifically excluded from our ceremony text) and he included it anyway, but it was not a big deal and I was the only one who noticed. He also will not return your signed marriage license to the courthouse, unlike every other officiant we interviewed. Overall, we were happy with his services.

Mike was wonderful to work with! He helped us to design a ceremony that was exactly what we wanted. He was always happy to speak with us on the phone or meet in person. My dad was hoping we'd get married in a Catholic church so we were a little worried about how he'd feel about our outdoor ceremony. Mike made him feel totally at ease, they became buddies and even went to church together on Sunday morning!
