The best photographer!
Michael’s work is impeccable. He is hands down one of the BEST decisions we made for our wedding. Not only was his personality witty and hilarious, but he was fully present and truly cared about capturing the beauty of all moments. His camera has incredible lens, producing the clearest pictures. He was extremely efficient with time management, constantly keeping in mind the lighting, weather, angles, timeline, etc. His ease and comfort made him feel like an old friend. Michael was amazing to work with. He was quick to respond and very easy to work with. My husband and I are both a little awkward when it comes to taking pictures and Michael made us both feel so comfortable and at ease during the whole day! He directed us when necessary and stayed back to capture our candid moments with our friends and family. I cannot recommend him highly enough - you would be lucky to have him as your photographer!

The Absolute Best
I can’t say enough good things about Michael. We didn’t get to meet him until the day of our wedding but next to our coordinator, he was the person who put us at ease. He is such such a kind and gentle soul who gracefully ushered us through our photos when we were very nervous and awkward. I was absolutely freezing during our winter wedding and my husband was very nervous yesterday he made us feel extremely comfortable and at ease. Our photos came out absolutely beautiful. His confidence protected both his vision and us when my family had a bunch of distracting photo requests. If you don’t hire him you are making a mistake!

I've worked with photographers my whole life in my career and can truly say Michael is one of the best. He is fantastic with lighting and composition! As a bride it was also extremely important to have someone that is enjoyable and personable to be around and he is absolutely who you want to have around you on your big day. I've always thought it cheesy to frame a lot of wedding photos all over the house...but I want to blow up all of these in a huge size and put them everywhere because they are so so amazing. Michael was our photographer for both our engagement shoot as well as our wedding. He has a great personality, is calm, and is great to work with. The wedding photos were amazing! He captured not only all of the moments but amazing facial expressions that are signatures of people's personalities! Michael was the absolute best! Not only did he make us feel super comfortable throughout our entire wedding day but he took AMAZING photos!!!! We can't stop looking at them! He went to our venue ahead of time and found all the right lighting and spots to take formal pictures but, all of the candids are also so perfect. He would pull me and my husband aside for certain events that were happening throughout the night and made it flow seamlessly! I hired Michael a week before my wedding in a last minute panic. Initially I'd planned to have a friend photograph the wedding, but I really wanted the friend to have a good time and I wanted to feel sure I'd have good photos at the end of the wedding. Michael did not disappoint and we came away with photos we were very happy with. As with all things in life, the more directive you can be the more Michael can give you what you want. My advice is to think about people you want in photos and where you want photos shot ahead of time. My guests also commented that Michael was completely non-obtrusive and very friendly. Highly recommend.

My husband and I worked with Michael for our engagement + wedding photos in Mill Valley, CA. We wanted a photographer that could capture the feel of the event while blending in with our low-key vibe. After seeing his portfolio and talking to him on the phone, we knew that Michael was the right fit for us! He is extremely talented and professional, and most importantly, helped us feel at ease with his relaxed approach. During the events, he was very punctual (more so than us...) and approachable. After viewing our albums, we were impressed by how he captured every important moment by himself - we never even noticed him running around! (although he must have, because my dad and I accidentally power-walked down the aisle...) Our photos included everything from artistic detail shots of the wedding, to hilarious candids, to sweet poses with family and friends. We even got our photos back early as an early holiday gift, showing the level of commitment he has towards his clients. Michael was an amazing wedding photographer!
Michael was absolutely amazing to work with from beginning to end. When I found Michael, I selected him based on his work (check out his website and Instagram!), and how quick he was to respond. As an event planner myself, I am very picky on who I select. Michael was very straightforward with what was included, and I loved that we would get the rights to all photos at the end. We did our engagement photos and wedding photos with Michael. My husband and I don’t love being in photos, and Michael was so great making us feel at ease and comfortable. I had told him I didn’t want many “cheesy” photos and that I wanted a lot of portraits – he did exactly what we asked. So many people at our wedding commented on how quick he was (group shots he fired away and we were done like that!), as well as how they didn’t even notice him taking photos because he was never in the way! Not to mention, we had almost 200 people at our wedding and Michael got photos of everyone (as a solo shooter!). I absolutely would recommend Michael to anyone, and hopefully can find another reason in the near future to hire him.

Perfect photography
Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have Michael photograph our wedding and engagement photos. First of all, his photos are BEAUTIFUL and he does a wonderful job of catching the vibe of the event and the couple. I felt like he could read us as a couple and tell that we we wanted a down to earth and love filled wedding celebration and captured it on film perfectly. I felt he knew our priorities and made sure to capture those moments. He was an absolute pleasure to work with as well! He is a joy to be around, is professional and always on time, and he didn't bring any stress as well as he was actively calming during our entire wedding. I highly highly recommend him to anyone and everyone who needs wedding/ engagement photography. To us, he is more than just our photographer but was a large part in why we loved our wedding so much! One of the best parts of my wedding!
I was the most nervous about getting the ultimate wedding photo. I hate having my photo taken and do not consider myself photogenic. I was slightly intimidated by Michael's work. The brides he photographs look so beautiful and I was concerned that my photos would not look as great. I couldn't have been more wrong. I got everything I wanted and more. Not only was Michael professional, he even calmed down my groom before walking down the isle. Priceless. Thank you again for such a flawless evening.

Wonderful and flexible photographer!
Michael Keel Photography helped keep our wedding day stress free and captured it perfectly! He made sure to get to know us in order to give us pictures that we desired, as well as willingly did any crazy picture/pose we requested! Michael gave us back the pictures in a month rather than 6 months like some people do which was amazing! We were able to relive our special day so quickly! The pictures turned out beautiful and I have been looking at them for 8 months and still cannot pick a favorite because there are so many exceptional ones! I would highly recommend Michael Keel for a stress free, flexible, friendly, and excellent photographer! You will not regret choosing him!

Truly talented and captivating
Michael was truly a dream to work with. He is extremely talented and has a knack for capturing natural, raw beauty. His photos felt un-staged and effortless. Michael was absolutely amazing!! He was prompt the day of and very helpful. On top of taking our photos, he also helped with anything else that we needed which was awesome. He has a ton of experience so he knew all the best poses to have everyone do and when to have us take our photos for the best lighting. He was a thrill to have onsite as well! And the photos were so beautiful, we definitely could not have asked for anything better!

We did engagement photos with Michael which turned out to be amazing! Taking engagement photos can feel uncomfortable and staged, Michael was awesome at helping us feel relaxed and guiding us through what felt like an awkward experience (just kissing in front of a camera or feeling like it wasn’t natural). When wedding day came Michael was early and he was patient with me and all the pictures/poses I wanted to take (bridezilla kinda came out). After the wedding we got our edited pictures back pretty fast. I was blown away with all of our photos, he captured the precious moments that seemed to fly by and being able to go back and look at our wedding day I can see every detail that I wasn’t able to soak up at the time. I would definitely recommend Michael to any of my friends & family!

We booked our wedding with Michael over a year and a half in advance, and without ever actually meeting him in person. When it (finally) got closer, he graciously agreed to meet up with us over coffee and pies to get a little sense of our personalities and to talk a bit about how the day should go. Michael is, hands down, the best photographer I've ever worked with and one of my top 3 favorite vendors for my wedding. He did an amazing job on our wedding photos and was so fun and flexible to work with. Plus, he's a really fun, kind, and interesting person. I cannot begin to say enough good things about him and his work - just hire Michael and you will be very pleased with the results.
I already recommended Michael to my friend who is getting married in 2019 - that's how much we love him. I am terrible at being in photos (and consequently, hate being in photos) - my engagement photos (with a different person, not Michael) were meh, but my wedding photos that Michael did for me are wonderful! He made everyone look fantastic - my grandmom, me, my husband, our bridal party, parents, guests, everyone!
His photojournalist style comes through in his work and his whole approach to capturing your day. As my husband and I were browsing our images, we both commented how impressed we were that we didn't notice Michael moving around during the ceremony, yet he seemed to somehow capture every different view without any assistant helping him. I follow Michael on Instagram too, so I know his work is consistently fantastic!
If you are considering hiring Michael, just do it! You'll be thrilled with the results :)

Working with Michael was an absolute pleasure. I found him to be professional, attentive and easy to work with. We contacted him to have a newlywed photoshoot in San Francisco at City Hall and by the Golden Gate Bridge and he provided a great atmosphere for us to get great shots. I would highly recommend contacting Michael and getting more information about his services. His fees were reasonable for the high quality of photos he provides. Had the best experience with Michael. Really was fun to work with and easy going. He became part of the wedding group towards the middle of the night. We first reach out to Michael via Thumbtack. Although his bid was not the lowest, his portfolio was top notch; thus, we reached out to Michael. Michael was very responsive and ensured that we understood what he can and cannot do at our City Hall shoot. The day of the photo shoot, Michael was punctual as he showed up 10 minutes early. He then followed us through our City Hall Marriage signing process and took great photos of initial process. Afterwards, Michael took very dramatic photo of our ceremony and also photos around city hall. His personality made our photo shoot fun and entertaining as it showed me looking pretty good even though I am not great at posing. Overall, our experience with Michael was a pleasant one and we would definitely recommend him to take any special moments.

Neither of us had experienced being photographed formally before, unless you're counting work headshots (and I'm not), so trying to find a wedding photographer was a little intimidating. I spent a number of years on the east coast as part of an informal photography group that had several professionals as members... so we went into the search feeling pretty confident that we knew what we were looking for... and I'm happy to say we found it. Michael's documentary style suited us perfectly. We had to reschedule our park-setting engagement shoot about four times because it rained so much here last winter and Michael was flexible, informal, easy to work with, didn't make us feel awkward or odd while posing, and clearly loves his work. We had fun! When the wedding day arrived, he was prompt, friendly, and kept up with our rather unique event. He was so kind with family while posing us after the ceremony, and he was both creative and efficient with the shots of us as a couple also - we weren't rushed, and we made it to the cocktail hour! The shots of our first dance (we'd learned to swing dance for the occasion) are some of my favorites, as well - the angles he picked were perfect. He knew how to be unobtrusive, but also when to speak up to cue us for a specific shot. Best of all, the photos were edited and back to us even faster than he'd promised them. Michael's a quality human, making quality photos... we'd highly recommend him to anyone!

I'm not going to lie, I was nervous about booking a photographer before I met them. Michael turned out to be the best decision I made for my entire wedding. He was so easy to work with. He responded to emails within a day, arrived on time and ready to shoot, he shot photos from my "Must have photo list" and more off the cuff. He was a true professional and I plan on booking him again for shoots in the future.

Great experience for small civil ceremony
Everything about working with Michael during our civil ceremony was perfect. He was great at communicating, bringing plenty of authentic personality while still being a consummate professional. He did a great job taking our own desires for the day into account while leveraging his personal expertise to find poses and locations we wouldn't have considered. Michael is an incredibly gifted photographer. We recently got our wedding photos back and they are amazing! Wonderful mix of candid and staged and the lighting is beautiful. The moment I met Michael my husband and I instantly liked him and he made us feel very comfortable. Amazing wedding photographer!
We hired Michael for our wedding last weekend and he did not disappoint! He was the first vendor we hired, last July. He was very responsive getting the process started and let me know that there was someone else interested in the same date after I had initially spoken to him- we appreciated that he let us know and gave us a couple days to make a decision. We went through the portfolios of the three photographers we were deciding between and Michael’s photos were hands down the best.
Working with Michael the day of the wedding was great- he showed up on time worked really well with our videographer and seemed to take tons of shots. Throughout the day he worked with me and kept telling me whatever I needed, whatever I wanted he would make it happen. Everyone at the wedding loved him and we cannot wait to use him for future events! My husband and I cannot wait to see all of the pictures!

We hired Michael for our wedding, he gave us such great photos! Some of them we stare at and say, wow! My husband and I were talking about the wedding as a whole and both of us agreed we rarely remember seeing Michael because he blends in with our guests and navigates the venue so well capturing photos of us and everyone else. I never once felt like he was in my face taking photos, and I trusted him the whole time as we walked around to different spots at our location for the best shots. It was such a great experience working with him, we would definitely hire him again in the future!

We hired Michael Keel as our photographer for our wedding on May 20, 2017. Michael takes amazing photos and we really enjoyed working with him. There were a few hiccups, but nothing major, and we would recommend him as a wedding photographer. To recap our experience, we hired Michael through Thumbtack. He was very responsive to messages and offered a great price. He was great at showing us his portfolio and diversity of photos. Once we hired him, he took a bit longer to respond to emails, but it was not a problem. When trying to schedule our engagement photos, he had limited availability and we had to drive two hours to the area where he was located. It was not a problem, because the area is very beautiful, but this was not disclosed prior to us hiring him. He sent two sample photos from our session before we even returned home and the engagement photos turned out beautifully. As the wedding day approached, I sent multiple timelines and photo requests. He did not receive all of these for some reason, but it all worked out. All of the requested photos were not taken the day of the wedding, but we did send a relatively long list and he got quite a few of what we wanted. Due to time constraints, we did not get any photos of the guys getting ready and not a large variation of the bridal party, but the shots we did get were wonderful. Michael had stated prior to us hiring him that he would go to our venue prior to our wedding day or come earlier than scheduled the day of to scope out great places for photos. Neither of these happened, but he did find good places for photos. Michael has a very relaxed demeanor and is very easy to get along with. He is personable and we enjoyed working with him. He sent us our wedding photos very quickly (within 4 weeks) through Dropbox. Our Dropbox was not large enough to accept all of the photos, so we requested the USB drive of them that he stated he sends and he sent it right away. Michael was relaxed, and fun to have at our wedding. It was like having another wedding guest! He was professional and really prepared even though he had not seen the venue before hand. He got there early and scouted out spots and ideas while we were still getting ready.
He was incredibly time efficient on the day. We got to have fun and enjoy the party instead of spending hours having a photo shoot. He really captured the feel of the party making the day more solid in our minds, as it did go by quickly!
