Incredible Photography Team

We really love ALL of our wedding photos! Mike and Joannie both took beautiful pictures that truly captured our whole wedding. They both went the extra mile to take care of small details. We had a large wedding party, super record breaking hot day, and they both rolled with it and made it so fun. I could not recommend them enough!

We LOVED working with Michael and Joannie on and before our Wedding day. We had to change our wedding date because of covid-19 and they were so easy to work with and very understanding. They made the photography process, easy fun and our pictures turned out perfect. They even got our super high energy crazy dog to smile and look at the camera! MAGICAL.

Amazing, Talented Photography Team!

Book now!! After researching, my husband and I chose Michael Anderson Photography to capture our wedding day and I'm so happy we did! Mike and Joannie were so kind from the moment we started communicating via email. Mike always responded right away. It was important to us that we did not do a "first look". Mike and Joannie worked with us and reassured us that it would not be a problem for timing. From the moment they arrived, they made us, along with our family and friends, feel so comfortable. They did a great job with the kids and getting them to smile. I loved that while Mike was shooting straight, Joannie was off to the side taking candid photos. We were lucky enough to get a light painting done in front of the custom bar my dad built. WOW, were we blown away at how great it turned out! A few weeks after the wedding, we received a highlight video that included a small clip of my dad and I walking down the aisle. We chose not to have a videographer and receiving the highlight video is something we will treasure forever! Mike and Joannie are so very talented and went above and beyond. I cannot recommend them enough!

Fun and Talented Team!

I hosted my sister and brother-in-law's wedding this fall and they hired Michael Anderson Photography to capture their special day. From the moment they arrived, they were professional and made the families and bridal party comfortable. They did a great job with the kids and did goofy things to make them smile! Great Experience

We worked with Michael and Joannie for our outdoor ceremony with an indoor reception. They were able to capture so many aspects of our day and very quickly got the pictures to us after the wedding. I would highly recommend Michael for your wedding photography. I knew I wanted Michael to be my wedding photographer since I was a little girl. This is not because he is family, but because everything he does is flawless and beautiful! Fun, professional, and EXCELLENT pictures & videos!

Michael and Joannie were absolutely wonderful to work with on our wedding day! When I was looking for a photographer, I wanted someone who had been to our venue before (the St. James Hotel in Red Wing), who had a middle price range, good experience, and who had something unique. Michael & Joannie had all this, and a TON more. Their personalities, the way they interacted with us and the wedding party, and the amazing quality (and quantity!) of the pictures and videos at the end made them the best choice we could have made. High-quality photographer with extensive experience

My wife and I used Mike and Joannie for our engagement session and wedding. After reading the reviews and having an initial meeting at their home, we knew they were the best choice. They even changed timing of their annual vacation to accommodate our wedding date! Mike was very pleasant / easy to work with and his extensive wedding experience was consistently on display via his thorough planning, timeline and photo suggestions, and most importantly, great final product. Highly recommended!

I am an amateur event planner. The biggest mistake I see couples make is not hiring a proper photographer to capture the event. I place a lot of value in the photos at a wedding, because, even if everything else were to go wrong, the photos capture all the good things and stay with you forever. So, when it came to my wedding, I knew what I wanted and the best way to do it. Michael and Joannie had photographed my friend’s wedding a few years back, and I knew then they would be my wedding photographers if my time were ever to come. When it did, they were one of the first people I contacted. Michael and Joannie have become more than just someone we hired. We now consider them good friends. They listened to what we wanted and executed better than we could have imagined. They aren’t just someone behind a camera, they were an essential piece to making the day great. Not only the day of, but before, during, and after. Their responsiveness and follow through is amazing. Even with some limitations that our wedding threw at them (limited space, too cold and windy for outdoor pictures), they made it work in a way that kept my stress levels low. I highly recommend these two!

Best investment we made

Michael and Joannie were incredible for our January 19th wedding. They went above and beyond and their artistic visions continue to impress me. They were flexible when we got behind on our timelines and provided assistance wherever needed. There are a lot of photographers out there but Michaels' work is a tier above the rest. Wonderful professionals with pride in work

Upon meeting Michael and Joannie we knew they were exactly what we were looking for in a photographer for their wedding. They went the extra mile to make sure we got great pictures and even fit us in for an engagement session on the north shore after we expressed an interested in having some pictures outside of the city. We got some amazing pictures from multiple sites and they were prepared for rain and some annoying black flies come sundown when Michael and Joannie finished our very cool light picture.
We had an early start to our wedding and Michael and Joannie spent the day with us and got working extra early to capture my bride. They made our day stress free, got us beautiful pictures in multiple areas of the wedding venue and got a lot of fun photos of our reception. Highly recommend Michael and Joannie. They will make sure you are happy, do a fantastic job and think of the little things to make sure you get many wonderful memories captured forever.

Michael Anderson and his wife Joannie are amazing! They have shot for many years, so they know the best locations, the best ways to light each shot, and most importantly - how to talk to people. Both of them put us at ease during our engagement session and wedding day. They don't force you to take any pictures that you don't want, nor do they make you print with them if you want to find another place to print your photos. Michael was very flexible, fun, and professional to work with. Our tea ceremony was supposed to be on Friday morning on the same day that we had the wedding but my husband's father wanted to move the tea ceremony to Thursday evening. We had already booked Michael a long time ago and the wedding timeline was sent out to him and other vendors weeks before. Michael was flexible and agreed to come out on Thursday evening to shoot some tea ceremony pictures without extra charge. I'm very pleased with the service and how fast and professional he is. Michael and Joannie were great to work with. They were incredibly flexible and everything ran smoothly and on time. One technical glitch even left me feeling more confident. Michael's camera stopped working for some reason, but if you weren't paying close attention it would've been impossible to notice. Joannie took over as primary shooter while Michael swapped cameras with a spare. They have clearly mastered the craft and are well prepared.

Michael and Joannie were everything we wanted in wedding photographers and more! They were such a great addition to our day from their upbeat and bubbly personalities, to the way they expertly organized our day-of schedule with us and kept us to our timeline. If you hire Michael and Joannie as your wedding photographers, you won't have to worry one bit about things running smoothly on the wedding day.

When we initially met Michael and Joannie we were sold by their experience, portfolio and knowledge about what pictures we would want and how to best capture them. We truly wanted photographers that would take charge and tell us what would look best, and they are masterful at doing that. Now, our final pictures have been amazing! We love so many of them, and loved having two shooters to capture the formal pictures as well as so many candid shots of moments we may have otherwise missed. Somehow in the chaos of traveling to three different locations, the large bridal party and families, and challenging kiddos, they took some of the most beautiful wedding photos I have ever seen. I recommend hiring these two for your wedding day as well!

Despite our rainy wedding day - Michael & Joannie did everything they could to capture some truly amazing photos of our big day! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't incredibly bummed that the weather just didn't cooperate, but the Anderson's kept my spirits up by finding every opportunity to sneak in some pictures outside when the skies cleared briefly.

From start to finish, they were professional, flexible, helpful and accommodating. They kept the day moving along - and were there to help pin on flowers, get everyone organized, etc. I truly appreciated their efforts in keeping everyone on track! I can't thank you enough for photographing our wedding! Highly recommended!!

Michael is wonderful to work with. He is funny and works great with kids. The proofs from the wedding took our breath away. He went out his way to include family members and treated our daughter, the bride as if she were his own child.

AMAZING! AMAZING!!! AMAZING!!!! There aren’t even words to describe how happy I am to have found Michael and Joannie to be our wedding photographers!!! I had Michael Anderson Photography as one of my Facebook friends and already knew I loved the pictures they produced. I was a Personal Attendant in a girlfriends wedding and saw how amazing they were to work with and just knew that I had to have them for our wedding! As soon as we had a date I set up an appointment to meet with Michael, he responded fast and setup a meeting. We booked on the spot and it was the easiest and best decision I made the whole wedding! Our engagement session went flawless (even with including our two kids). I didn’t have a place in mind but Michael did and the pictures are beautiful! In the process all emails were answers quickly and my questions were always answered! The day of our wedding, I receive a text that they were on the way and the rest of the day went as perfect as it possibly could! They took pictures that brought tears to my eyes. The day goes by so fast that you forget some of it and Michael and Joannie caught so many memories that we will be able to enjoy forever!! Not to mention the beautiful light painting that they did!!! I received out pictures back in record time, I was just blown away! I would recommend Michael Anderson Photography over and over and over until I am blue in the face! Michael and Joannie took amazing photographs - we loved the way they positioned us and our families in the photographs. We love artistry of the stylized photos they made for us! Every aspect of working with them was fantastic - they are very prompt, flexible, and responsive. They helped us figure out everything we needed during the wedding planning process and are clearly very experienced in where people may have issues in the wedding planning. They gave us good recommendations for timing of photographs in relation to wedding & reception times.
The photographs were completed and sent to us very promptly - about a week after the wedding. It was so wonderful to get the shots so quickly. We will definitely recommend them to anyone, and plan to continue using their services for other photography needs we may have.

Michael and Joannie were the best photographers to help us celebrate our special day. I was impressed with how professional and charismatic the two of them were when working with our group. I have a few shy friends that were in our Wedding Party and both Michael and Joannie personally connected with every person to make them feel comfortable. With that, they were able to get the best photos!! Joannie has a keen eye for capturing candid moments, while Michael is a visionary and able to see a beautiful staged shot. I am in love with our photos and so proud that we chose them. I would recommend them to anyone looking for excellent photos to capture these important moments.

I found them through the knot.com and weddingwire.com when I started my initial search, and surprisingly they were one of the first ones I stumbled upon and said YES to right away! I knew it was meant to be! I was looking for someone who lived down in the Twin Cities that we could meet with and take engagement photos, but still had the most knowledge and experience of the MN North Shore where we were going to get married. They did not disappoint!! Michael & Joannie were extremely knowledgeable about locations in both the Twin Cities and the North Shore which made me feel 100% confident that our pictures would turn out amazing. After our first meeting with Michael, he made us feel confident and excited for the next two sessions we would have (engagement & wedding day). We also met Joannie the night Brycen & I met Michael at our first meeting, which made our decision that much easier to have Joannie included in our wedding package and be there to help photograph our big event- she was so kind, warm, and both of them felt like our family members while getting ready- I did not even hesitate about anything! Our engagement shoot was a fun, relaxed, and an exciting experience! Afterwards, Brycen and I both looked forward to our big day the following Autumn. Hiring Michael and Joannie was one of, if not the, best decision my wife and I made when planning our big day. They were the first photographers we met with, and we knew after our meeting that we need look no further. They were clearly true professionals, made us feel extremely comfortable and laid out a vision that was exactly what we were hoping for. When we left that first meeting we felt very excited and lucky that we were able to book them. For the engagement shoot, my wife and I only had a vague idea of what we were looking for. We gave him a location and a couple of signs we wanted to incorporate, and the rest we entrusted to him. When we saw the results, we were blown away. For our ceremony, we had both Michael and Joannie on hand. On an otherwise very stressful day, the photo sessions were a breath of fresh air. They created a schedule that allowed us plenty of time to get to our other responsibilities and found locations that were absolutely stunning. When we saw some of the finished product, we were nothing short of amazed. We could not be more grateful to Michael and Joannie for the work they did for us. Words can not describe how HAPPY I am with the AMAZING Michael Anderson Photography! For all of the brides out there I will try... because he is 100% who you want!!! Just look at his STUNNING portfolio!

The attention to detail is beyond INCREDIBLE! As the bride, it was such a relief not to stress over any of it. Mike knows what he's doing and the pictures show it! My husband looks phenomenal (as usual) and these are the first photos that I actually like of myself. We will be using Mike again for sure. My husband and I booked with Michael Anderson Photography and we were not disappointed! They made our experience so special and amazing! They took the time to get to know us and our wishes for our big day and then went above and beyond what we could ever imagine! Our wedding photographers, Michael and Joannie were amazing. They are really great to work with as they helped to make us all feel comfortable and were flexible with our stress and changing plans! On top of all of that, the photos are fantastic! You can really tell that they know what they are doing, as they bring all of the lights needed to make sure you are captured in the best light, and they work with their surroundings to get a great picture every time. Michael is also clearly always pushing his talents, as he takes the time to learn and master new techniques. We were able to be part of a ‘light painting’, where he takes a series of a dozen or so shots at night, using his lights to capture exactly the background he wants to focus on, one with us, and then puts them all together to make a beautiful night picture. The outcome is beyond beautiful, and I love that were able to get such a unique picture!

I happen to do some photoraphy myself and knew from the git-go that Michael and his wife were the right choice. He/they worked so hard for the long hours of the day, I was so impressed and knew the shots would be spot on. It was a wonderful experience working with Michael and Joannie for our wedding. Michael and Joannie are simply the best out there. We were drawn to Michael because of the amazing pictures we saw of other couples online, and knew that we wanted to speak with Michael about shooting our wedding as well. From the moment we met Michael and Joannie we knew that we were in very good hands, as they are truly lovely people. Incredibly knowledgeable, flexible, and spontaneous -- not to mention, very fun!

The day of our wedding went so smoothly, and you can tell that Michael and Joannie have done this many times before and are true professionals. We had so much fun taking our pictures, and even more fun looking through them after they were done and sent back.

WOW!! Michael and Joannie are both simply amazing- they made our wedding day so memorable and we couldn't have asked for better photographers to capture our day. Michael has been very attentive since day 1 and for that we are so appreciative. Michael and Joannie are energetic, preofessional and caring (they have been doing this since the year I was born after all...1986) ;-). Our wedding day was a steamy 90 degree day so being outside for bridal party pictures got to be pretty hot- they made sure we were all well hydrated and made sure we all felt ok before moving on. They made us feel comfortable and had great ideas- they made sure they took all the pictures we wanted and even grabbed us for a beautiful sunset picture at the end! Michael & Joannie Anderson are honestly the BEST part of our wedding. Jay and I cannot say enough about the two of them. Our wedding was absolutely perfect! We gave them a challenge with hardly any clouds, outside and hot, and had some pretty large family photos to do. Everything was done with perfection. Jay's side of the family had 70ish people and they took enough time to ensure everyone was seen, eyes open, and smiling. I cannot tell you how many people came up to us and told us how much they appreciated the time they spent on them. My favorite part was the sparkler photos. I told them we wanted a "sparkler exit" of which they took amazing photos. But they did not just stop there, they ended up trying some other cool things out with just Jay and I. It was magical. Michael and Joannie Andreson are a phenomenal photography duo. We absolutely loved having them as our photographers, their service was exceptional, they were so willing to work around what we wanted in our photos. They were so much fun to work with and they were very good at keeping our crazy and huge wedding party on track throughout the day. They were so willing to go where ever we needed them such as coming down to the south metro to do our engagement photos and then driving 3 hours up north to capture our day. They were such a fun couple to have taking our photos and they did an amazing job! The video reel that they have made for us has made many of our friends and family cry while watching it, they truly captured the day. Everyone should use them!!!

Michael Anderson photography was one of our best choices in all of our wedding planning! For a reasonable price he took fabulous photos that are uncomparable to other cheaper photographers photos. Michael and Joannie put their full effort into every aspect of the job from making sure events were on time to keeping the bride and groom happy. We were more than pleased with the pictures when we saw them! We are having so much trouble choosing which ones to print because we love them all! Great service and high quality photos.

Our wedding was perfectly depicted in the amazing photos that Michael Anderson Photography was able to capture. He was very thorough in capturing all aspects of the wedding which included dress photos, accessories, bridal party, groomsmen, dessert table and the reception to name a few. Michael and Joannie are amazing photographers who are great to hang out with all day. They took charge of the day and made sure everything got done on time. We have so many great shots to document this day and they made it fun while doing it. I hate having my picture taken, but with this team I didn't even have to think about it. It was like walking around with old family friends who happened to be carrying cameras and taking pictures all day. I am so glad that we chose them as our photographers I can't imagine anyone else making this day that could have been so stressful and uncomfortable so easy and fun. If anyone is looking for a worry-free day with great pictures to show for it I would strongly recommend this team. Everything about working with them was great. Four thumbs up from me and my wife!!

Michael Anderson and his wife Joannie make a great photography team. They were a great addition to our special day. Not only do they take incredible pictures to document this important day, but they have the experience to know how to run everything smoothly and keep everyone on track. Michael was very professional and kept the whole wedding party on task so we could be on time. Joannie was amazing to hang out with she was like an extended family member who had my best interests at heart. I felt like she was there to take care of me on this very stressful day and make sure the pictures were amazing. I was extremely happy with my pictures and with how well the day went with them at our sides throughout the whole event. I wish I knew more people getting married so I could tell everyone to use them.

Mike and Joannie were the best! He was flexible, worked with what my husband and I wanted, and even came up with additional ideas. He had a quick turnaround time for proofs, less than a week!! He and Joannie went above and beyond what we expected and stayed longer than necessary on the day of our wedding. I highly recommend this couple for wedding photographs (I have had many people ask about using Mike and Joannie for their pictures, and of course I gave an awesome recommendation!)

Choosing to work with Michael and Joannie as our photographers was one of the best choices we made when planning our wedding. I had seen their pictures at different wedding shows and online and have always been impressed, and they more than came through with our wedding. They spent the time to get to know us as a couple before the wedding, so they had a good idea of our personalities when helping plan our pictures. The whole day felt so relaxed and they had everything organized perfectly. The pictures were beyond our expectations. One aspect I greatly appreciated was all the special moments they captured that we hadn’t even asked for. Joannie captured a lot of behind the scene pictures and small details while we were taking pictures with Michael, and some of those pictures turned out to be my favorites. They captured things from our grandparents’ faces while watching pictures being taken to the goofing off of our wedding party in the background. They also fit the style of photography to our personalities. They knew we were people that liked to goof off and have fun with everything and they incorporated that into the pictures. We had such a hard time picking which pictures to use for our album and to print as there were none we didn’t like. We would highly recommend them to anyone who asks, and know we will continue to use them for our family pictures down the road!

I reviewed Mike and Joannie last fall after our engagement shoot (which went smoother than I could have ever hoped), and I'm back again to update about our ceremony. Our June wedding included wedding party photos outside at multiple locations. It was extremely hot outside, but we made the best of it. Mike was able to recommend a location for "urban" pictures, and those are by far some of our favorite. They also recommended that we do "first look" pictures, and those are precious memories that I will never forget.

We have already received our photo proofs from the wedding, less than a week after the event occurred. I am so excited to order our prints.

Overall, we couldn't be happier with our photos and the services provided. We will definitely recommend them to our friends, and will absolutely use them as our professional photographers for events in the future.

We had so much fun with mike and Joanie! They made our day truly one of a kind! They were open to all of our wants and needs and even suggested photo ops I hadn't thought of. My parents and my in laws loved how special mike and Joanie made everyone feel. We have had them take Easter photos of our children with live bunnies, whole family photos ( they even came to our cabin!) and they even took our daughter's senior pictures too. Michael and Joannie were absolutely amazing to work with on our engagement shoot as well as our wedding at the Profile Event Center on May 16, 2015. When we first met them at the wedding fair a few years ago I was incredibly impressed by their knowledge and their flair for capturing unique images that no one else would think of. I was very picky when it came to picking the photographer for my wedding as I am an aspiring hobby photographer and knew firsthand how easy it can be to pickup a camera and how hard creating memories can be. They proved through their work that they are very knowledgeable and managed to capture our event perfectly. They did a great job working with the surrounding area to create unique compositions, working with our family to capture portraits, and engaging the kids at our wedding to capture some really fun memories. You won't find a better pair of photographers who are down to earth, like one of the family, and very talented artistically and technically.

Mike and Joannie were amazing. We got married on Saturday and got the online gallery for our photos by Wednesday afternoon, and the photos are beautiful. Mike was very responsive during the whole process. He answered all of my questions, met with us at least twice, and even called me the week of the wedding to talk about the plans for the day. Mike captured all of the special moments I wanted captured. He was up for trying new and creative shots. My husband is a huge Vikings/football fan and Mike captured a few football related photos for us, which made my finance very happy. He found a creative way to capture beautiful photographs of us playing a quick (as in one play) of football, guys vs girls. Mike had lots of suggestions as to fun poses to do and places to take photos, which took a lot of pressure off of me trying to come up with ideas for fun photos. When I compare our photos to others on his website, they looked completely unique. Mike brings a fresh perspective to each wedding, so you won't feel like your wedding photos look just like everyone else's photos. If you are looking for an experienced photographer, who is creative, and will capture the photos you want and the photos your parents want, go with Michael Anderson Photography. It was the best decision I made (besides marrying my husband). Mike will make sure you have fun having you picture taken and you'll end up with beautiful photos to cherish.

I've been married for just over a month, and was just lamenting today that my wedding was such a whirl-wind that I don't remember lots of it. But then I came back and looked at the photos from Michael Anderson Photography and it all came back to me. He takes such beautiful photos it was like getting married all over again. We were supposed to get married outside, but had to go to our backup plan due to rain. Michael and Joanie, however, were super flexible and accommodating and we even got to have some pictures taken out at the vineyard where we were supposed to be wed. That involved changing cameras and lights and things, but they wanted us to have great pictures. At the church, they had to change lenses and the like again, but again it was a non-issue. Michael and Joanie kept us loose and relaxed throughout the whole stressful, rainy process, and our happiness is evident in the photos. I can't recommend Michael Anderson Photography highly enough.

Michael and Joannie did such a fantastic job! We got married at the profile event center, which has some difficult lighting, We loved that they had photographed there before. They did a wonderful job with our nephew who didnt want to participate in photos as well as sneaking my husband and I off for a quick shoot of just us out of the way. The photos turned out fantastic! We are so happy with how helpful that Michael has been. We were not sure what photos we wanted or should get. Michael helped us figure out what photos we wanted. He also helped us decided to do photos before the ceremony so we could get them done. He did a private first look with just Dave and I. The photos are amazing! The family photos were fantastic. Every thing was amazing, they were so friendly and fun to work with!

Michael Anderson of Michael Anderson Photography provided exceptional coverage of our outdoor wedding and reception. Michael was always taking photographs but never felt overbearing or in our face. He was able to adapt to constantly changing lighting situations as the clouds moved in and out at a moments notice. We found him to be a great communicator and listener as he directed us and as we suggested our own ideas. Michael had great photographic vision and was very willing to try our ideas, too. He was always concious of our needs which made for a relaxed experience. Michael had a great rapport with us and our families throughout the day putting everyone at ease.
