We were delighted with the music services provided by Melodious Strings. The musicians arrived on time and played beautifully, adding a touch of elegance to our ceremony. I also really appreciated the helpful song choice suggestions leading up to the big day. We went with a duet of a cello and violin and felt this was perfect for our budget and guest size of around 90 people.

Melodious Strings provided beautiful classical music for our daughter's May wedding outdoors at the Castle Hill venue in Charlottesville. Their repertoire was so generous that every piece we desired they could play. The string music set the perfect tone and the timing of switching from prelude music to the different ceremony pieces and then postlude was impeccable. Kate is not only a talented musician and director of the quartet but made the process very smooth administratively with excellent worksheets that covered every step of the ceremony so that there were no loose ends. We hired the Melodious Strings quartet for our ceremony & cocktail hour and had a great experience. Kate was very easy to work with, their repertoire of songs is EXTENSIVE, and they were overall amazing! We had multiple guests coming up to us saying "wow I didn't know strings could play "X" pop or rock song and sound so good. I said I wanted Bridgerton vibes at the wedding and our planner said "well, then I know exactly who are going to go with," and she was 100% right. Their process to curate the setlist (you can pick every song they play, give them a vibe and let them run with it, or propose a few songs and then ask them to fill it out) was also really nice & so flexible. We had the pleasure of working with Melodious Strings for our wedding in June, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. They performed beautifully for both our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Kate, the coordinator, was incredibly responsive and accommodating throughout the entire process. My husband and I had specific songs in mind for the processional and bridal entrance that held deep meaning for us, and they transcribed and customized the music to fit our story perfectly. The music truly moved our guests to tears.
During the cocktail hour, the trio was equally amazing, providing a fantastic mix of pop and classical music that everyone enjoyed. Our guests were raving about the live performance throughout the evening. The string trio was punctual, professional, and an absolute joy to work with.

Having a string quartet was top priority for us and we booked Melodious Strings the very day we secured the venue.
Kate was wonderful and very easy to work with. Couples can ask for suggestions based on a preferred style/genre or they can be very hands on and detailed with music, down to the exact play order and even specific timings for cues.
We selected 10+ songs from their extensive song repertoire for our prelude, processional, and recessional/postlude ranging from wedding classics to movie/TV scores like the Mandalorian Theme! In addition, we requested two custom arrangements (included in our package) for the Winnie the Pooh theme and a very special selection from the 1994 Little Women Soundtrack for our unity planting.

Highly recommend Melodious Strings, especially if you love quartet covers of soundtrack or pop music. Very easy to coordinate with and a great selection of music. Although the wedding and reception was a blur, I specifically remember some of my guests applauding at the end of Eye of the Tiger due to our mutual love of the Rocky franchise. Melodious Strings also custom learned my aisle walk song, which made the wedding unique to me. My biggest regret was that I had to be the bride and missed out on just taking in the music.Melodious Strings's reply:

If you are looking for ceremony and cocktail hour music for your wedding, or heck- any event, these folks are the ones to hire. I got into contact with Kate about their services for a wedding that was originally planned to take place in Madison County, VA. Well, this plan was soon changed due to COVID restrictions as my husband and I opted for a smaller "backyard" ceremony and reception 2 hours away from our original location. The whole crew was so accommodating and willing to make the longer trip.
Their skills are unmatched- seriously. We looked at a few different string groups, listened to recordings, and landed on the decision Melodious Strings after finding that they stood out in their musical abilities. As good as they sound in their recordings, they sound even better live! They have an amazing selection of songs to choose from and offer the option of custom arrangements (we opted to have a slowed-down string version of Hall & Oates- Maneater and they crushed it).
While we only had around 20 total guests in attendance at our wedding, they ALL raved about Melodious Strings for weeks after! I would highly recommend that if you are thinking of having a string quartet at your event, choose these folks- you will be thrilled with them.Melodious Strings's reply:

The Perfect Addition to Our Wedding!
Choosing Melodious Strings for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made - it's been over a year, and we often talk about how beautiful they made our wedding! We were planning a small wedding at Christmas at the Inn at Vint Hill, and even before we had the venue, we knew we wanted a string ensemble. But we also had some songs in mind that didn't seem like traditional wedding songs. We found Melodious Strings and the entire experience was wonderful - they allowed us to have 3 songs outside of their large repertoire at no cost, which helped make our ceremony so unique. They were so flexible even with short-notice, and a wedding near Christmas when everyone can be so busy and booked. Working with Kate was easy, and she was able to help us create our perfect playlist, which was really fun to plan since they had such a wide-range of genres - even Christmas music. Kate also helped me with song suggestions, which was appreciated. And on the day of the wedding, everything went smoothly, from set up to moving rooms during cocktail hour. Our wedding would not have been as lovely without them, our guests still talk about how beautiful they sounded, and it just made the day perfect!Melodious Strings's reply:

We had our wedding at the Semper Fi chapel at the National Museum of the Marine Corps and the music in this space was amazing. The violinist was skilled, professional, and helpful. Additionally, she was very flexible... a last minute hiccup during the ceremony was gracefully managed by her as she seamlessly transitioned from one song to another so that the guests were completely unaware. This group went above and beyond for us - I requested religious hymns that I only had choral arrangements for and they not only arranged the music for the quartet itself, but personally worked with our church's piano/organ player to arrange her ensemble pieces as well! We were planning our wedding from across the country and this group made the entire experience so easy! They arrived extra early to the church to practice with our pianist/organist since they had never played together before. The music was beautiful - everything that we had imagined! I heard Kate play at one of my bridesmaid’s wedding and was so impressed that this was the first vendor I booked for my wedding! I booked their string quartet for our garden ceremony and outdoor cocktail hour. Kate was fabulous to work with along the way. She responded to my emails immediately, and always let me know when she received a payment. I had very specific song choices for our ceremony music, and the execution of the pieces was absolute perfection. We also gave them suggestions for the cocktail hour, and there was nothing that they couldn’t play. It seems as though if you ask for something, they can play it! Guests commented on how lovely the music was, especially during the cocktail hour. Having the string quartet as part of our wedding really added to the elegance factor that we wanted. Kate is phenomenal. She did a beautiful job helping us coordinate the processional, recessional and working with my sister on a duet to the song "At Last" before the processional began. Kate truly went above and beyond to accommodate our requests, to arrive early to practice with my sister and had so many wonderful suggestions to coordinating the music for our wedding. Kate and her fellow musicians did such an incredible job at our wedding. They played so many beautiful songs and I loved the elegance the string quartet added to our ceremony. Before the big day, Kate helped me pick out a whole list of songs for our prelude and the cocktail hour - I was so impressed with just how many great songs they could play. We requested specific classical music for the pre-ceremony, a very specific cello solo for the ceremony and jazz music for the cocktail hour and Kate and her team were able to play exactly what we asked for. I cannot speak more highly of their flexibility and repertoire. I am so glad we were able to have a live string quartet for our wedding and they did everything we asked for and more. My wife and I were extremely happy with their services. They played beautifully and their music set a beautiful tone for the ceremony. They were also extremely pleasant to work with, very helpful and very responsive. They are priced extremely well and are highly recommended.
